It's more like giant balls of plasma being fired from a scorpion tail where the stinger would be. I mean they got them in the third starship troopers movie and then there is the plasma bugs from the first one that fire into space i just converted them to AA guns but yeah lol

Anyone have any astronauts/cosmonauts in space looking to investigate an attack aboard an international space station?

I'm thinking this would be a vector for the hivemind to gain a foothold on earth through infecting humans with brain control bugs as well as potentially using humans as a host for parasitic reproduction.

But the idea of entities falling from the sky into our dimensionality sounds pretty cool.

I'm well aware of that...

I would like a more nuanced entrance for Hive Fleet Roach than just throwing bug asteroids to ground and hoping they establish a foothold through force of arms (or should I say scythes?).

Top Left = Chelicigrunt; large-bodied arachnid-like beast that forms the main bulk of Roach's army, ideal for massed attacks in open terrain

Top Right = Meleenid; smaller, bipedal alien only a foot or two taller than an adult human. Used to chase prey species into areas unfit for the larger Chelicigrunts, and to exploit gaps created by other units

Bottom Left = Spitternid; large-bodied, but shorter than Chelicigrunts. They carry two rapid-fire plasma cannons on their abdomen used to suppress & destroy their victims en-masse and hit moving, armored targets easier

Bottom Center = Spittergnat; smaller, winged bugs which carry a single plasma cannon. While only useful for a few shots, they can be devastating when used to assassinate key targets or fire as part of a massive swarm.

Bottom Right = Terraworm; massive segmented worm which buries into the earth and attacks from below. Also used as a form of engineer by Roach to modify the battlefield, form shelter and uproot enemy fortifications

Bottom Right = Macroleeches; juvenile bugs with permanent DNA, but undeveloped roles, functions and accompanying phenotypic traits. Can slip into small spaces and devour their victims from inside their own power armor.

Not Pictured:

Meleegnat = Similar to a Spittergnat but with two long scythes for slashing their victims apart.

Alphagnat = Larger flying arachnid with both a pair of scythes and a single plasma cannon. Has some level of independent thought and can command weaker Gnat swarms through pheromone cues.

Ultraspitter = Very large arachnid with one heavy single shot plasma cannon on its abdomen, very similar to the Scorpions attacking Marine

Alphanid = Larger version of a Meleenid with two scythes and a plasma cannon. Like the Alphagnat it has more control of itself and others and can coordinate attacks from nearby Roach bugs.

Microleech = Tiny juvenile bugs which have an only partially developed DNA code, allowing them to infect other species and effectively develop into a hybrid parasitic offspring with loyalty to the Roach hivemind. They can also exhibit stunted growth once infected, hijack the neural system of the host and bend their will to the pheromone cues of the hivemind. If left without a host they will grow into Macroleeches.

Hive Scouts = Smaller bipedal aliens, similar to a Meleenid but smaller in size and with four long neural tendrils protruding from the back. They have the ability to camouflage themselves and infect their victims with microleeches.

Drone King = Only four Drone Kings exist at any given time, they are the most independent thinking of the hive and the only true males. They come armed with an array of weaponry, including four scythes, two plasma cannons and two neural tendrils. They also have wings like the gnat lineage and give pheromone cues strong enough to command all except the hive queen herself.

Writing my next post rn, would it be alright to assume the Battle for Missi City was a defeat?
Don't worry, I'll be respectful to the defeated NPAF and Gears, I just think it would make for a great story.
Anyway please let me know, I won't post until I get a green light.


*edit:* Thinking about it it wouldn't have to be a total defeat. If possible I'd like to discuss with OP some of the terminology of his nation, details of the city and any characters he'd like me to include in my next post. I'm thinking something along the lines of a few veterans/deserters/officers hiding out somewhere that my small patrol could stumble across. Perhaps a rescue mission/escape ensues, followed by a new bug attack closer to my nation's borders.
We'll see. Anyway, smashing stuff so far chaps, excellent work. The space station angle is quite an interesting one.
