The Martian Invasion of Earth

Prologue: “Never would anyone had seriously dreamed, that in the 21st century, beings with minds immeasurably superior to ours had existed in the far reaches of the black void of space. Never would anyone had imagined that our progress into the unknown was being looked upon and scrutinized like a professor examining microbes multiply and swarm together in a drop of water. But in this year of human insecurity and unsureness, the cold red planet of Mars has bursted into life and has regarded its rich neighbor of Earth with envious and fearful eyes. And slowly, but surely, they drew their plans against us...
On the fifth of June, 2018, 140,000,000 miles away from Earth, researchers and astronomers made note of green flares hurtling from Mars. One such astronomer described it as a massive volcanic eruption, perhaps a streaking comet, whose debris will swiftly break apart in the atmosphere. But on that day, the missiles pierced the Earth’s atmosphere dragging with it that green mist. A beautiful, if not unnerving, sight. All the scientific heads of the world claimed that there could not be life on Mars, that the atmosphere was nonexistent and the environment too hostile for life. Millions saw it, some claiming that it arrived with a hiss, others with a flash, but the eyes of the world turned their attention towards Horsell Common, Britain. Due to the technological advancements made in trajectory, Horsell Common was already predicted to be the landing site just before the missiles arrived. News crews, researchers and other passerbys quickly gathered to see a cylinder, about thirty yards across, still glowing from its trip with some witnesses claiming to hear faint movements from inside. At 3:00 pm (Western time), the group that had gathered were mesmerized by the “unscrewing” of a hatch on the cylinder until the lid suddenly fell off with a heavy thud. Out of the now open craft came a figure the size of a bear, with two large luminous eyes and a mess of tentacles around its “V” shaped mouth that slathered and quivered, as its body heaved and puslated. The group moved closer, using a white rag as a sign of peace, and in front of the world a tall funnel arose from within the cylinder and began a hum that shot a faint ray of light at the group and causing a chain of heat to run from man to man– reducing them to heaps of ash.
The broadcast was seen worldwide and warranted international shock as world leaders discussed and clamored amongst themselves on how to handle the issue as a second cylinder streaks across the sky towards the Common like summer lighting. The world holds its breath at the meeting of the two races and what it spells for the fate of Earth.”
