Do the Autobot vessels have a force field or anything like that that would repel the beast/Ba'rula? If not, he'll probably land on a ship, sit & scream there for a while, & then start attacking.

Yes; all Autobot starships have force-fields installed within them when they're constructed. Same with the Decepticon starships.

Can anyone brief me on what's happened to Earth? RPs like this tend to get easily complex by the time I join in.

I know Unicron is Earth, and that Primus is Cybertron. I know that there are 13 primes. I know who the Autobots and the Decepticons are. Just unsure about what's happened so far.
