Korean War

Image

Armed conflict has come to the Korean peninsula. At dawn on Sunday, 25 June 1950, the Korean People's Army(KPA)crossed the 38th parallel behind artillery fire. The KPA justified its assault with the claim that ROK troops attacked first and that the KPA has stated their command to arrest and execute the "bandit traitor Syngman Rhee". ROK troops have since begun firing back at the KPA.

Choose a side, send in troops and pray for peace.

OFFICIAL TRANSMISSION TO WASHINGTON
KOREAN WAR

CLASSIFIED

________________________________________

Herr Truman,
the German Bundeswehr is still in disarray and castration as of the Second World War, and at this time will not be able to send any men to fight in Korea, neither can we send supplies like weapons and armoured vehicles. However, the West German government shall issue a declaration of their side, and will take up arms for NATO in order to curb the Red Menace in any way they can.

REPUBBLICA ITALIANA
ITALIAN REPUBLIC

Mr. Truman,

The Italian Republic extends its unconditional support to the United States of America in the wake of the shocking acts of aggression taken by the Soviet-backed forces of the Korean People's Army against the Republic of Korea. Whilst any sizeable deployment of Italian troops to the Korean Peninsula in the near future is not yet within our proper capabilities due to the ongoing process of post-war reconstruction and reorganisation of our armed forces to meet the ever-transforming standards of the day, our government nevertheless stands ready and able alongside the American government and its people in the face of this continued hostility against the peace-loving world by those who wish us harm.

An official statement condemning the KPA aggression and outlining in full our support for NATO and its allies worldwide shall be issued tomorrow morning.

Mister Truman,

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea demands the United States of America to withdraw their support of the terrorists in the southern part of our noble nation and also stop encouraging others to stop supporting them. It is recognized by the foremost superpower that we are the legitimate Korean nation and thus we demand the second foremost superpower to imply the same. DPRK will not warn the United States again and if our demands are not fulfilled all American troops located in the peninsula will be massacred. The disorganization of the forces in the southern part of our nation and withdrawment of them is expected to be fulfilled and if not will have grim consequences.

For the reconstruction of our peninsula, the terrorists in the southern part of our nation must be disbanded and the legitimate central government of Korea must be recognized.

Official Record

"Representatives of the free world, the United States sees no further use for negotiations with the DPRK, as of noon all tropps will be on emergency preparation to go to Korea. All communications with the DPRK and the USSR have not been answered. I petition the United Nations to prepare a coalition to enter Korea."

The War Room, classified location
General MacArthur was reading over the news when an aide rished into the room.
"General, a call from DC. They say it's urgent."
MacArthur sighed and picked up the phone.
This is General Douglas MacArthur, what's going on? You said it was urgent?"
A voice with the slightest amount of fear answered him back
"We have a code red, put your troops on standby! Your men will be sent to Korea on a UN mission. You will be acting commander. You will be briefed by agents on the situ-"
"I understand the situation."
Said MacArthur cutting him off
"My men are on standby and ready at a moments notice."

Midway Island AFB
20:00 hours

An alarm sounded in the barracks waking the men of the 20th Bomber Squadron, 1st Marines and 7th Infantry.
"All soldiers please report to your mustering stations for preliminary briefing. This is not a drill." a voice said over the PA. The troops mustered and saw General MacArthur staring at them, his pipe in his mouth.

"Gentlemen, you are being sent to Korea as part of a United Nations Mission. You will meet the Korean Army at Inchon. Federal Agents from the United States and the Republic of Korea will meet you there. You will land at Green Beach, Red Beach and Blue Beach here and here" he said while showing the men a map of the landing zones.
"The area will be leveled by bombers prior to landing. Any questions?"

A captain raised his hand and was acknowledged
"Any word on support, General?"

"Currently the Republic of Korea, Canada, UK and France have stated they will support the landing. Remember men this is part of a United Nations Mission. These men are your brothers in arms. Any other questions?"
None
"Prepare to be sent to Japan at any minute.Dismissed"

The soldiers were too wired to return to sleep so many went to the rec room to play pool or grab a bite to eat. The sound of the waves against the beach was soothing compared to the news the just received.

Unknown Location in Korea
Mr. Bowman and Mr. K were on edge. They were waiting for their Korean contact code named Mr. Lee, a colonel in Korean intelligence. A knock on the door stirred them. Mr. K issued the challenge to the person, his pistol in hand.
"Tea is served"

A voice replied
"Extra honey please"
Mr.K opened the door to their contact, a thin wiry man with cold eyes greeted them. They let him in. Mr. Lee tossed some papers on the table before accepting a cup of yellow tea.
"Inchon is confirmed as the LZ. We will scout the area out tomorrow. Troops will escort us as far as Checkpoint Bravo and we will be on foot from there. Remember our stories, I'm a resident. Mr.K is an adviser to the Communists and Mr.Bowman is a salesman."

The agents hunkered down for the evening. None of them could sleep as the sounds of battle and the fear of capture kept them awake.

Red Beach,Incheon, Korea

Mr.K and Mr.Lee crawled slowly near some rocks. They snapped some pictures of the beach and scouted the Communist garrison. Mr.Lee pulled a walkie talkie from the sack on his back.

"All Units, the Eagles have landed. The Wolves are sparse and oblivious. Fire at will in T minus five minutes."

"Rodger that. Danger close." replied the admiral.

The bombardment of Red Beach,Blue Beach and Green Beach after the agents retreated. Bombers screamed across the sky, dropping their loads on Communist troops. A nearby fort was damaged in the bombardment. Napalm canisters helped disperse the enemy as well as destroy any potential land mines. Now the agents had to deceive the Communist. That was where some of their friends came in. All they had to do was temporarily lead enemy troops away from the beaches. Wolmido was also shelled to weaken the enemy.

Aboard the USS Toledo,Yellow Sea,Korea
Captain Cole watched the bombardment from the deck. The smoke from the fires was thick and high. He knew that in a few days he and his men would be charging the beaches. He knew he may not make it back home to the U.S. alive. He sighed and lit a cigarette. He was going home in three ways: on his two feet, on a stretcher or in a pine box. He finished his cigarette and went to fetch some black coffee.

July 5, 1950
Osan, DPRK

"When you get to Pusan, head for Taejon. We want to stop the North Koreans as far from Pusan as we can. Block the main road as far north as possible. Make contact with General Church. If you can't find him, go to Taejon and beyond if you can. Sorry I can't give you more information—that's all I've got. Good luck, and God bless you and your men!"
-Major General William F. Dean's orders to Colonel Smith

First units of the 24th Infantry Divison left Itazuke Airbase on June 30. Four days later, on July 4th, the US troops spoiling for battle met North Korean tanks in advance, cathing them unpreapared.

107th Tank Regiment, North Korean 105th Armored Division was approaching Task Force Smith from the South. Three more tanks were sighted advancing from the north at around 11:00. Behind them was a column of trucks 6 miles (9.7 km) long, carrying two full infantry regiments; the 16th Infantry Regiment and the 18th Infantry Regiment of the North Korean 4th Infantry Division, amounting to almost 5,000 troops under the command of Major General Lee Kwon Muz

Task Force Smith managed to hold its lines for three hours, but at 14:30 Smith ordered the Americans to withdraw, suffering from low ammunition and a breakdown of communications. At this point North Korean forces were moving on both flanks of the American force and toward the rear of the formation.

The US troops were demoralised since they lost their first battle and the battle was huge propaganda material for the DPRK.

Green Beach, Sunrise

The X Corps stood in the landing craft as it made it's way to Green Beach. Bullets flew by their heads as the Communist troops opened fire. Smoke was still rising from the damaged garrison. Casualties were supposed to be substsntial. But like rats, many of them dug in. Lieutenant Eli of Team 3 sent up a quick prayer. He realized he was praying the Mourner's Kaddish for his men and himself

"Exalted and hallowed be God's great name in the world which God created, according to plan. May God's majesty be revealed in the days of our lifetime and the life of all Israel -- speedily, imminently, to which we say Amen."

He turned to his men as they were close to the shore

"Ok men, we are nearing the beaches. When we land at the beach charge up to Wolmido. Lieutenant Colonel Taplet will be your superior officer. Good luck and God bless"

The craft beached and the men charged the beaches. An Australian battalion landed to their right and stormed the beaches. To the surprise of the UN troops, resistance was light and the Communists were easily driven off. One Korean Communist was captured. He was handed over to the Koreans. The young man was shaking out of fear as he was unsure about his fate. The Communists were spinning many stories of torture and execution for the captured. The truth was that he may get punched in the face and offered a a deal or two to sing like a bird.

The troops advanced to Wolmido. They encountered light resistance but they were driven off.

Red Beach, Sunrise
The 5th Marines and the Korean Marine Corps rushed the beach. They encountered resistance from the Communists. By the afternoon, the men were able to cripple the Communists at Cemetery Hill and were close to taking Observatory Hill and Inmer Basin. Casualties were light among the UN troops.

Blue Beach
The 1st Marines landed under the command of Colonel Puller. As soon as the Marines landed most of the Communists surrendered as most were devastated by the bombardment. Some fired at the UN troops but were cut down. The Marines got to work strengthening defenses and preparing to take Seoul.

Safehouse Alpha
The CIA team was busy packing their belongings when a call came through from DC.

"Delta Tango,Mr.K and Mrs.Green please be ready to report for duty in Shangrila. The rest of you, meet the Marines at Blue Beach
Mr.K and Mrs.Green knew what that meant. They were going to Tibet to check out the situation.

Near Yongdungpo,Korea
Private Harris gazed over the fields towards Yongdungpo. This was the last bastion of Communist defense before Seoul. The road towards Yongdungpo was nearly cleared. Harris, a sniper, scanned the horizon for possible threats. Next to him a spotter from the British SAS was also scanning the horizon.

"Harris, bogey to your left, 20 feet, temple rooftop, fire at will."

Harris aimed and fired. The Communist sniper dropped like a sack of potatoes. For two days this is what he was doing, protecting the Australian and Liberian engineers as they clear the road. The Communists were starting to lose their will but some were hardline morons and opened fire at times.

"Harris, bogey to your right, 19 feet, 3rd floor of apartment building, his patches don't look Korean Communist. He doesn't see us."

Harris aimed at the soldier standing guard. His patches were foreign. They were a bit fuzzy from this distance but they could be Russian or Chinese. Probably a mercenary or worse. He wasn't sure if he should take the shot. The soldier turned around and started going for his rifle. A shot to the stomach ended that and he dropped. He survived but was bleeding out. Harris turned to his spotter.

"Get some guys to retrieve the son of a bitch before he bleeds everywhere."

A team was sent to grab the man. Lucky for the men, the part of town was deserted. The dragged him out, kicking him all the way back.
A medic and a fed spook took him away. This could spell trouble for the UN if the guy was a foreign soldier and not a mercenary.

Unknown Location in Tibet
Mr.K and Mrs.Green walked briskly to their meeting. Because they were Russians with a good cover story, they met with no issues from the Chinese. Some forged KGB ID cards helped them and may have terrified the Chinese soldiers. They were on edge as they were foreign agents and were KGB defectors with a bounty on their heads. Thankfully there were no other Russians in the area, just some bored Chinese. At the appointed location, a farm house near the border with India,Tibetan spooks arrived. The men were monks and were former members of the Cabinet. They all sat on the floor. A monk armed with a rifle stood guard at the window. Mrs.Green broke the silence

"Your prayers have been answered. Washington will send over a stamp collection. Can't be traced. They're confiscated Russian arms."
She said in a thick and cold Azeri accent. Her years working in the Azeri branch of the KGB had hardened her. The pogroms from Stalin against her people, specifically the Jewish people of Baku had made her cold and deeply resentful against the Communists. They wish to wipe her people off the Earth? Two could play at that game Stalin.

"Will American troops be sent?" asked a young monk in Russian.

"No, the States can't have a direct involvement." she replied. She motioned to Mr.K, it was time to go. Before they left, the old monk gave the agents little necklaces. They were made by the monks. They had a small figurine of Miyowa Buddha, a protection deity.

Thank you, may God be with you replied Mrs.Green.
The agents were escorted to the Indian border where some field agents took them in. Hopefully this would be their last visit to Tibet.

Chairman Chen Yun has ordered for 180,000 Chinese troops to be placed across the Yalu River, ready to advance into the Democratic People's Republic of Korea if any UN troops cross the 38th Parallel. The People's Republic of China has already warned them that if they were to cross it China will get involved in the Korean War to help their communist neighbor. This will be China's last warning to the UN as they near the 38th Parallel.

Clark AFB, Manilla, Philippines
The body of the sniper was laid out in the base hospital. By initial analysis he seemed to be of mixed race. He had Oriental and Pacific features but also Slavic and Germanic. He had Oriental eyes, a Pacific build and mixed Slavic, Germanic facial features. He had fair hair and blue eyes. His identity was confirmed as Kai Fyodorov. His father was Tongan and Russian and his mother was Chinese and German. Both were devout Communists that met in Moscow back in the 1930s. Kai was born sometime in the 1930s.

His uniform was Chinese and his patches were Chinese. His firearm was Russian.

The CIA agent on duty cursed under his breath
"Damn Chinese!"
He was tempted to punch the body but that would do no good.

India Safehouse, somewhere in Himichal Pradesh
Mrs.Green hung up the phone and punched a hole in the wall. Mr.K was dead. Luckily they found nothing on his body. She slumped down into the chair and wept. They had been partners in the espionage division for 10 years. They had made a pact to split off. He left because he saw some shady things he disliked. She had more personal reasons. A reason that hit close to home. She played with the Star of David necklace Mr.K got her on a mission in Israel. A knock at the door startled her. She grabbed her pistol and went to answer it.
"It's me" said an American voice. Mr.Bowman.
He walked in and handed her a dossier. She read it over and shivered
"Shit! A foreigner was taken out?"
She knew this spelled trouble. She had to get to Clark AFB pronto.

A leader is best when no one knows he exists. When his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say 'We did it ourselves.'
-Lao Tzu

Government is the great fiction through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else.

Liberty is not the daughter, but the mother of order.-Piere Proudhon

We speak of Liberty as one thing, and of virtue, wealth, knowledge, invention, national strength, and national independence as other things. But, of all these, Liberty is the source, the mother, the necessary condition.-Henry George

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Seoul, Republic of Korea
The sun rose on a hot day. It was time to advance. At the command of MacArthur, the bombers commenced. In under an hour,Seoul was nearly in rubble. Artillery from the surrounding area further flattened the city.

By 7am, the troops were ready to go. The 1st Armoured and X Corps from the United Nations advanced into Seoul. They came under heavy fire from Communist troops. The Communists were cut down and began to flee towards the 38th parallel. They were ambushed by the Korean Marine Corps. They were completely decimated.

A second wave entered the city and began sweeping the streets. Some civilians assisted with spotting and a few took up arms against the Communists. By noon, Seoul was mostly cleared, a humiliating defeat.

38th Parallel, Republic of Korea
Private Harris was once again on sniper duty. His same spotter was there. This time it was make sure no one crosses. To his right he saw some movement. Soldiers. He checked their patches. Chinese.

"Halt! Don't move or I will shoot you!"

he screamed in Mandarin and then in Cantonese. One aimed his rifle. A shot to the head ended that. They opened fire on their position. Luckily the 1st Marines and the 22nd SAS were near and they returned fire. One surrendered to the Marines. He said that the Chinese were planning an invasion tomorrow at sunrise. The men fortified their postions and waited for sunrise. The Koreans were humiliated and were retreating. The Navy Black Cats were cutting them apart from the air.

Philadelphia PA
Mrs.Green said a quick prayer before going on the elevated train. She was in the open and vulnerable to attack. Being armed helped her have an advantage over any thug or KGB. She got off the train at 69th street. She easily blended in with the crowd. She was still on edge. She ducked into a building and knocked on the door. A Chechen man answered and immediately flung his cigarette away

"Yes?Why are you bothering me?"

Mrs.Green walked past him and sat on the couch. The man shut the door and passed her some tea.

"Ruslan , I need to stay at your place. KGB is tracking me down."

Ruslan cursed aloud. He knew this spelled trouble. He sighed and grabbed his shotgun. Mrs. Green shrank but Rusaln shook his head.

"There's a spare room upstairs. If your being hunted as well. May God be with us".

Gangwon Province, South Korea
The cold, cold air covers beneath the Korean surface, as Robert Menzies himself commanded the Australian division to set up a camp near the mountains to get ready to cross the 38th parallel. As they were marching, some unknown spies started to blast their guns and shoot at the division.

"It's the communists!"

"Attack!", said Menzies on all of the soldiers handies.

The battlefield went on and on. Several people were shot. Many were eventually wounded. They had to retreat back into Ulsan to get some help. From there, the new division from the Australian Air Force had been sent to attack at Incheon, but later arrived in Busan to get some requirements.

Back in Canberra, Menzies has ordered the Ministry of Defense to send many navy ships around the coasts of Australia.

"Make sure you don't spoil this, Mr. MoD. The battle has just begun," said Menzies.

Hong Kong, Hong Kong
The Australian soldiers start preparing for war with their guns and ships stopping by at a naval base. Menzies has just issued a military mission in Mokpo to take down any remaining DPRK soldiers who may be scouting around the area.

"We're ready for battle, Menzies. Please call the other divisions immediately," said the commander of the naval division, talking in his handy.
