The International Socialist Party (ISP), is dedicated to regions, nations, political parties and people that believe in the philosophies, and ideas of socialism. Broadly supporting social democratic, labour, democratic socialist, reformed communist, marxist, and socialist parties within regions across Nationstates.

The party puts combined and coordinated efforts of nations that subscribe to these beliefs to help push Nationstates in the direction and future we want to see. Coordinating through the Council we push for a fairer and more progressive world built around the people. The party has an official Discord, that it shares with its Affiliated Organizations such as the Social Democratic Party of Capitalist Paradise. If you join the Discord chat please make sure to first fill out one of the applications below and post it in this forum first so that it may be referenced to give you a role on Discord.

• Our Principles

"Socialism" is an umbrella term that covers many different ideologies. For example, Christianity. Christianity has over seven different branches of the same religion, each tweaking the faith in different ways.

Socialism is the same way. The term socialist covers communism, anarchism, classical marxism, revisionist marxism, democratic socialism, etc. Hence why a "communist" nation such as the U.S.S.R. would call itself the United Soviet Socialist Republics.

Now, the International Socialist Party does not support communism, anarchism, and many of the other variations. Why you ask? Lets look at communism. Communism has lost the appeal that it once had to parts of the labour movement or to some intellectuals after the October Revolution or during the struggle against fascism.

The crimes of stalinism, mass persecution and the violation of human rights, as well as unsolved economic problems, have undermined the idea of communism as a model for the future. The International Socialist Party supports all efforts aimed at the transformation of communist societies through liberalization and democratization.

Communism as the biggest example is the reason we support smart economic and political ideologies and pursue those as an alternative to the current system.UNDER REVIEW

• How We Operate

The Council is the largest ruling body of the International Socialist Party. Every member in the party has the right to debate and vote in council decisions depending on their membership status. The Council also has the power to call Congress.

The Congress is a semi-non-permanent group of individuals. One permanent is the founder, the other four are elected each time the Council calls a Congressional meeting. Congress has the special power to change party principles, statutes, and determine membership of individual nations on a 4/5 agreement.

The President is an elected official approved by a Congress and approved by the Council. The President of the party is elected for a 180 day term. It is possible to elect the President for one additional 180 day term. They shall convene meetings with the Secretary General, for discussion and preparation of specific questions. The President, together with the Secretary General, shall take political decisions at his or her discretion between meetings of the Council.

The Secretary General of the party is elected for a 180 day term. They shall supervise the administrative functions and be responsible for the organisation of meetings held under the auspices of the International Socialist Party. This person, in addition, will be responsible for the archives.

• Individual Party Membership

The International Socialist Party consists of a four party tiered system, each with individual titles and roles in the party.

~ Full Member Parties

have the right to speak and to vote.

~ Representative Parties

have the right to speak and to vote as this is merely a title for nations representing a region or regional political party.

~ Consultative Parties

have the right to speak, but do not exercise a vote.

~ Observer Parties

have the right to attend and observe statutory meetings, but do not exercise a vote.

• Political Party Partnership

Political Parties are allowed to become affiliate organizations to the International Socialist Party and be presented on the membership page found here .

Affiliate organizations get the benefit of having a representative member in the Council if they so choose and can have people who apply for membership within their respective party also apply for membership within the International Socialist Party through the Same Day Signing Program.

It is highly recommended that political parties do indeed apply for affiliation as our main goal is to unite political parties, regions, and individuals that are social democratic, labour, democratic socialist, reformed communist, marxist, and socialist ideas.

• Region Partnership

Regions are allowed to become affiliate organizations to the International Socialist Party and be presented on the membership page found here .

Affiliate regions get the benefit of having a representative member in the council if they so choose and can have people who apply for citizenship (if there is a citizenship application) within their respective region also apply for membership within the International Socialist Party through the Same Day Signing Program.

If there is no citizenship application that is fine too! Regions that sign up to be partner regions may feel free to just direct people to our forum or not at all!

• Same Day Signing Program

If your region or political party has a sign up process in place and would like to become an affiliate to the International Socialist Party, we have more options for you!

When filling out the form for your political parties or regions affiliate status with the International Socialist Party you have the option to do same day signing for the International Socialist Party.

~ How it Works

When a nation applies for membership or citizenship in your region doing same day signing with the International Socialist Party will give them the option when filling our their form to also have that information submitted to the International Socialist Party so that they may also gain entry into the International Party (granted they are accepted). This allows political parties such as the Social Democratic Party of Capitalist Paradise to allow prospective members to become members of the regional party but at the same time to apply for membership in the International Party in which they are affiliated with. • Statutes of the International Socialist Party

• International Socialist Party

An association of political parties, regions, and individual nations which seek to establish socialist policies that pursue Freedom, Justice, and Solidarity.

• Purpose of the International Socialist Party

The purpose of the International Socialist Party is to strengthen relations between the affiliated parties and to coordinate their political attitudes and activities by consent.

The International Socialist Party shall also seek to extend the relations between the party and other socialist-oriented parties not in membership which desire cooperation.

• Composition of the International Socialist Party

The International Socialist Party consists of :

~ Full Member Parties

which shall have the right to speak and to vote.

~ Representative Parties

which shall have the right to speak and to vote.

~ Consultative Parties

which shall have the right to speak, but shall not exercise a vote.

~ Observer Parties

which shall have the right to attend and observe statutory meetings, but shall not exercise a vote.

~ The Congress

The Congress is the supreme body of the International Socialist Party. It proclaims its principles, determines its Statutes and, on the recommendation of the Council of the party, decides by a 4/5 majority of all the members upon the admission and status of new members and organisations in relation to the party. The Congress, to be convened by the Council.

~ Voting Rights in The Congress

Full member parties shall have the right to speak and to vote. The fraternal organisations, shall have the right to speak and to vote. Consultative parties shall have the right to speak but not to vote. Observer parties shall have no right to speak or vote.

~ Representation at Congress

There shall be five congresspeople, one permanent; the founder of the party. Each of the other four shall be elected in an fair three day election starting on a Friday. Congresspeople are only elected when the council calls Congress.

~ The Council

The Council of the International Socialist Party shall consist of all member parties, each having one vote.

The Council shall make all necessary decisions of policy and principle between meetings of the Congress, and make recommendations to the Congress concerning new members, suspensions and expulsions and amendments to the Statutes.

The Council convenes the Congress. In addition, the Council shall have the right to convene special conferences, expert conferences, regional conferences, as well as study groups and committees, to appoint the chairman and secretary of these bodies, and to determine their terms of reference.

The Council shall establish its own rules of procedure.

• Officers of the International Socialist Party

~ The President

who shall be elected by open elections of candidates at the Congress. Candidates should register by transmitting their intentions to the Council prior to the Congress. The President of the party is elected for a 180 day term. It is possible to elect the President for one additional 180 day term.

Amendments to the Statutes can be made only by the Congress, on the recommendation of the Council, and by a majority of two-thirds of the parties and organisations voting.
