"I do not believe such a two state solution would be viable, Herr Kovács" Wulff commented, breaking the Scandinavian's silence on the ongoing discussion and hiding his utter contempt of the Hungarian's idea. He found it only fitting that he applied his opinions on the discussion when necessary as not to make it seem as if the Nords were dictating the conference's outcomes to suit their and UFIN's best interests. Edafos had granted Scandinavia an agreement similar to the one provided to the other three UFIN nations, though overall Nordic interest or need to access the canal was lacking. Heavy trade with Aeuria died with the fall of the monarchy and the institution of Haldrada's policy of self-reliance, even with Aeurian interests being now more aligned with UFIN's goals and the thawing of traditionally icy relations between the two states trade through the region is limited.

"A nation's people belong in their own nation, and there are few nations quite on Earth who promotes those values like the Empire of Edafos" Wulff said as he finished his cigarette, citing a servant standing behind him to bring him another. "The idea of splinting Egypt literally down the middle between two vastly different nations is horrendous and would almost certainly invite a new conflict to erupt. Egypt and her people must be brought under one single state and identity, the lack of which has been the root cause of many of the problems in that country, herr Kovács" he said already imagining the inevitable "Seventh Egyptian Crusade" against the other Egyptian state and Gibet. "

"As for the canal, while I have little doubt in the justification of all opinions here and the possible benefits of Aeurian, international, or whatever the Hungarian conjured up's solutions, Edafosan control of the canal is the natural progression of things" he said pausing briefly to light his new cigarette and the servant quickly walked away as not to disturb the meeting.

"I hope Herr Linius will forgive my potentially provoking assessment but I speculate that even their Empire's leadership, ignorant bastards they that they you often appear as, would be foolish enough to consider such actions again in the face of the superpower that is Aeuria, the might of UFIN, or if the sun, moon, stars, and planets align the Americans if they can be bothered to act" Wulff said, allowing a few brief moments for the room to consider his words. "Where many in this room lack confidence, I hold faith that it would be in, and I strongly suggest they consider my opinion, Edafos's explicit interests to cooperate with the Aeurians in maintaining order in the Red Sea, and maybe in the near future your two empires can reach some kind of ultimatum regarding that passage".

Linius could barely hide his complete disgust at some of the proposals presented in the meeting hall. 'Aeurian control of the canal? A two state solution?' he thought to himself as these ideas generated images of abject horror in the mind of the Inquisitor. 'Were these foul Xenous trying to strike his nerve and cause him to react explosively?' he wondered as Wulff finished his comments. While Linius abhorred the foreigners he increasingly understood why the Imperial Council, against the commands of the Ecclesiarchy, was able to establish an agreement concerning future use of the canal following this conference, providing that the Aeurians do not muddle the deteriorating situation further. The UFIN nations present here were proving to be valuable assets in the constant onslaught of words he had to contend with, and thus to maintain some semblance of mutual alignment at the moment, though it pained him with all his being, he would adhere to the Nord's suggestion.

He would not waste words formulating a response to the American's, and especially the Magyar's, suggestions. Though he hated the idea of an international zone over the canal, he could at least see that the Americans were at least non-malicious with their intents. Their lack of trust was undesirable, so he hoped to create some level of assurance that a permanent peace in Sinai was fully in their best interests and that the events of the coalition would not be repeated once more.

'Keeping the peace on the seas is an objective of our navy indeed, though we have little use of this trade between nations.' Linius stated as he glance briefly at map on the screen before turning his attention back to those seated. 'I shall provide no opposition to the idea that, on the condition we provide some level of cooperation is maintained, we work to support Aeurian efforts to safeguard traffic in the Red Sea. This presumes that the Aeurians present understand need for a toll on an artificial waterway just as one must charge an automobiles on a highway, if they are able to cope with concept the canal being returned of course.'

Princess Marie listened with reservation as her proposal crashed and burned. It seems both she and her father miscalculated the willingness of those gathered to oppose the zealotry of Edafos. While she could understand the hesitation in allowing her own country further power to control the canal, she could only suspect why the members of UFIN unanimously supported the infamously xenophobic theocracy. As he spoke, Marie stared coldly at Linius, a feeling of disgust rising in her.

Marie offered a small smile, straightening one of her papers with a single finger. "In the interests of continued dialogue and keeping this conference intact, I will not further express my opinion on subject of the Canal." After a deep breath, she continued. "We agree, of course, that the security of the Red Sea must be ensured and already the Imperial Navy has an increased presence in the area. We have seen a dramatic decline in the rates of piracy and with continued operations, it should be effectively eliminated. The Commonwealth will not object to the current proposal, although the matter of tolls will ultimately be addressed in greater detail in tomorrow's deliberations."

Sitting back in her chair, the Crown Princess leaned over and exchanged a few quiet words with Minister Bordeaux. The outcome was far from ideal but not especially damaging outside of wounded pride. While operating the Canal themselves would have proven beneficial in its direct access to European markets, surrounded on every side by religious zealots who would happily slaughter every man working there would have made for unappealing working conditions no matter the pay. Marie doubted her father would actually follow through on the threat of a blockade, the move would be received poorly and affect trade in ways she didn't want to think about.

Andros Kovács listens intently, as the Norseman came to a surprising defense of the 'Inquisitor's demands for Egypt--all or nothing. What made the blow land even harder was when they had the gumption to declare that the rest of them--the Federation, too--ought to have more faith in Aeurians and Edafosions being able to work together.

It was a haughty, if misplaced faith.

Linius had already made it clear that Edafos felt it could do fine on its own, without European money. That they could stomach Aeurian involvement at all was the most surprising. What the UFIN representatives were suggesting was nothing short of totally abandoning Euro-friendly Egyptians to the full wrath of a resurgent Greek serpent; an act that the Federation was not too keen on seeing through to fruition. Of all the coalition partners, Gibet had made the most of her involvement in the territory, even if it hadn't panned out as best as hoped for. There would be many assets needing removed from the field should Cairo be handed over.

In truth, Andros had hoped that the Princess might push the subject further, entice the Greek into showing his true colors. He could recognize the fire in her eyes, even caught the cold stare. When she too conceded, it surprised him, and he was forced to see the futility of the argument.

"Very well, it seems that we are the odd man out, so-to-speak." He takes a sip of water form the glass provided. "The Federation is seemingly forced to accept full Edafosian control over the Egyptian territories and the canal zone; since other parties lack the stomach for another war. We do so, provided Edafos can guarantee fair and regulated tariffs." He nods in the direction of Marie, offering a brisk smile. "Naturally, with our current involvement in the area, we should like to be provided ample time to revoke certain assets that might otherwise endure damages in what is sure to be an...unpopular return to 'normality'."

He leans back in his seat, and strikes another cigarette.

"Now then, who's next?"

"I believe it will take time for the Edafosans to regain full control of Egypt, you should have ample time to withdraw, Herr Kovács" Wulff commented as he changed the projected screen again to adjust Edafos's boundaries, marked in a deep shade of ultramarine, to cover the whole of Egypt and the canal. "That being said of course, I would move with haste, gods forbid some random soldier in the Stratos become confused" he said smirking while noting the very real and serious ramifications of such an action as he changed the screen to the listed nations.

"Speaking of Gibet, I believe it is your opportunity to stake your nation's claims, herr Kovács" Wulff said. He could not, for some reason, recall or figure out what African lands their Kaiserin sought, if any at all. It was one of many questions that moved throughout his head, among which was the reasoning why Gibet would send a Hungarian instead of a full-blooded German. The Party viewed the Hungarians similar to that of Russians, as not entirely European but not entirely sub-human. This was idea was due to the believed German-Austrian influence lessening their perceived "undesirable traits" since their migration, and thus while Hungarians were spared from the Party's hatred usually reserved from non-Europeans it was still viewed with mild disappointment by Wulff though he remained more open than others involving such matters.

"I believe it is your opportunity to stake your nation's claims, herr Kovács."

Andros leaned his head in the direction of Wulff, nodding appreciatively. He withdraws small packet of documents from his briefcase, and offers brief dossiers regarding the Federation's small claim to each of the representatives. He begins by offering a brief background on the nature of mineral discoveries in Africa, highlighting those along the former 'ivory coast' and 'gold coast'.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the Federation holds no grandiose dreams for a Gibetan colonial empire. In truth, we can scarcely afford such massive deployments as the Aeurians have proven themselves capable of. The Kaiserin has asked that I simply put forth a proposal for a return of Kamerun, as well as the ceding of territories along the so-called 'ivory coast' and inland. Please see the attached maps in your dossiers."

He provides a moment or two for them to review them in silence before continuing.

"We will make no secrets in regards to why we seek these claims. The ivory coast is rich in petroleum, and the deserts hold uranium deposits critical to ensuring the continued success of our own energy programs. Kamerun is simply addressing another...mistake in need of redress." He folds his hands together, smiling softly.

'I have little interest or need to object to your goals in West Africa.' Linius said almost uninterested in the conversation at hand. Even if he actually had any real reason to object to such a proposal by the Gibetans he was fully aware that Edafos lacked the ability to do anything about it. In fact, their recolonization and development in the region, though perhaps a future danger to the Empire, would ultimately prove beneficial to the local region and maybe put the locals in their place. There was however a problem Linius was quick to note, the exact boundaries of their new dominion.

Within one of the many historical books in the Inquisitorial Library in Ipoli Linius took great interest in the savage history of Africa to better familiarize himself with what may be discussed and its historical context. The tome itself was one of the few condoned texts which origins can be found outside the Empire, apparently originating from America following some shipwreck off the coast of Kyrene. The book itself was one of two, one containing the original French and the other the Greek translation, and with it came the fantastic cartographic illustrations of the continent. Upon recalling his memory on those maps of West Africa he noted the immediate potential problem in Gibet's claims, mostly in the Ivory Coast, or "Elfenbenskusten" in that barbaric northern tongue, a Nordic colony.

The Inquisitor would not mention this realization to the room as he speculated that the Nord already would notice this. He need not waste his breath on an issue that was of such small concern to him and thus would raise no further input on the topic unless required.

Wulff raised an eyebrow at the idea of Kamerun. It was an interesting if not concerning concept, however he took particular note of the borders of the colony. Their claim bled over into the small coastline of Kongo and entirely claimed the coastline of the former colonies of Ekvatorialguinea and Elfenbenskusten which he found partially concerning. He understood that in the former the majority of the Nordic colonists had fled either to the Americas with their monarch or to territories controlled by the Afrikalanders. The latter, the Ivory Coast, was still inhabited by some number of Nords under the sway of the variety of different fronts in the region, including some remaining monarchists though their legitimacy utterly evaporating following the March on Stockholm.

"Did those damned nobles wiggle their way into the comfort of the Kaiserin?" Wulff thought to himself during the brief pause as himself and the other groups in the room scanned their proposal. Such an agreement would made sense to Wulff, the traditional monarchy of Gibet would likely accept the Elfenbenskustener's titles should they change their loyalties Berlin. Pondering the background behind this move, which he assumed that the Gibetans were clearly that this move would incite some response from him. He would not allow them the pleasure of such a reaction.

"I must voice my concerns over the exact boundaries of Kamerun, in particular over the Kongolander border region of Cabinda" Wulff said after the Inquisitor's brief statement. "The region has been historically under the domain of Kongo despite its proximity to the border. Perhaps this is just a simple error?" he said, questioning but showing a surprising level of understanding that this was more than likely a small discrepancy overlooked by the Gibetan foreign ministry.

Princess Marie examined the map in detail, immediately noting the overlap into what was to become Scandinavian Kongoland. Listening to Kovács as she considered the benefit of renewed industrialization of the Ivory Coast, she found little to object to. Marie appreciated the Gibetan's frankness, plainly stating his government's interests on the continent were economic. This too convinced the Princess that a more moderate European presence in Africa would ultimately prove beneficial to Aeuria's own interests.

"Indeed, there seems to be a degree of overlap into Kongoland, Herr Kovács. Barring that, I find no reason to object to the establishment of a Gibetan colony in the proposed territories. Your country's economic motivations will prove beneficial to all in what is becoming an increasingly busy continent." said Marie, looking over to the projection of Africa. Only a day before, Aeuria was the uncontested and supreme power on the continent; its territory stretching contiguously from the Gulf of Aden to the South Atlantic, its subjects numbering in the hundreds of millions. While the latter would still be true after the conference's conclusion, the Commonwealth's hegemony would not remain unchallenged for long.

"Provided this confusion regarding the border is resolved, the Commonwealth supports the Gibetan proposal."

"No further objections?" Wulff asked after waiting for some time for the other parties to review and pose any objections to the reinstatement of the Gibetan colony of Kamerun. Further details including the border situation of the colonies would be discussed in the following day, though he assumed that everyone in the room understood that the borders between Kongoland and Kamerun would soon be fortified similar to, albeit to a lesser extreme, to the border in Europe. Unless, of course, Det Lederen had alternate ideas in mind. No matter the outcome of tomorrow's dealings, Wulff would update the map projected on the screen above and move the conference onward.

The members of UFIN whom also attended the conference would not request any territorial gains here, establishing these intentions well before the day's meeting. The next party to discuss territory in Africa, however, would likely prove to be different and most interesting to the minister. The Americans were hardly a colonial power of any sort, obviously such actions such a colonization is anathema to their values, at least of overseas lands.

"Now we move on to the Americans" Wulff said gesturing the American representative to begin his proposal. "I look forward to hearing what Toronto has to propose, Herr Brown"

"Thank you, Mister Wulff" Brown said before he handed a servant behind him several packets containing the American proposal. "It has been deemed in the best interest of His Majesty's government to integrate the Republics of Liberia and Cape Verde back into the UCNA" Brown began, reading from his notes covering all manner of details about American intentions in West Africa.

"Similar to that of the Dominion of Hawai'i, which was granted independence following a referendum in 1959, Liberia and Cape Verde are former territories which were granted sovereignty during the period of isolationism America entered in the latter half of the 20th century. While we fully support the idea of independent and democratic societies in Africa, in a similar manner to Hawai'i these nations have struggled economically and politically following their separation. The crisis in these states is not the same extent that we can see in Kongo, to give an example, but it has become clear that a full reintegration back into the UCNA is the best possible way forward" Brown explained as the other parties in the hall reviewed the papers provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pausing for a few moments to drink from his bottle of water and allow the representatives to review the proposal.

"Statistically the post independence Liberia has struggled, with the nation itself having one of the lowest national and per capita Gross Domestic Products. While rich in natural deposits of ore, the nation's ability to harvest and export minerals and other resources has declined significantly" Brown said after allowing other groups time for a cursory examination of the papers. "Admittedly our government is at fault for the situation happening in Liberia, with it being one of our many blunders of the last century. Our exit from Africa post referendum certainly left more to be desired, and as such we wish to correct and fix this error" he explained.

"To conclude, we wish to reacquire our former possessions in West Africa and readmit these two nations with the status of a territory until such time as they can be raised to Dominionhood. During this period Liberia would undergo extensive development until they rise to standards found throughout the rest of America"

As the Ambassador Brown made his proposal, Marie found herself biting the inside of her cheek to stifle an uncharacteristic and unwelcome laugh. The sheer hypocrisy of annexing a foreign territory to restore a failed democratic government was enough to break her composure. Taking a breath to calm herself, Marie examined the provided materials. She of course recognized that the Americans were in a position to do anything they wanted and despite her amusement at their justifications, the proposed annexation was, at most, modest.

While other, less powerful countries in the room consumed vast swathes of the continent for new colonial empires, the Americans claimed a humble pair of strategic territories. And ultimately, the only real opposition they could face in the room would be from Aeuria itself but she found the idea of an ideological debate with the Ambassador an unappealing and futile prospect as she neither objected to the proposal or considered it against Aeurian interests. While the two countries no doubt had their political contentions, the trade relationship between the two competing titans of global industry remained essential to both parties. In a way, the strange American imperialism into Africa would benefit Aeurian markets, if indirectly.

Exchanging her thoughts quickly with Minister Bordeaux, who largely agreed and was also personally surprised by the modesty of the American claim, the Crown Princess gently cleared her throat. "I believe I may speak for others when I say that I find your proposal... most interesting, Ambassador Brown. Of course, that not to say one objects to it." she noted with a small smile. "In fact I believe, an American presence on the continent would be a welcome benefit to Aeuria's own interests. Surely the increased security provided by the presence of American peacekeepers and ships would be a boon to Africa as a whole through ensuring the protection of its Northwestern coast. And of course the benefits afforded to the native populations." Taking a sharp breath through her nose, she straightened her posture before continuing. "The Commonwealth supports you proposal, Ambassador Brown and one would hope others at the table would fully consider the practical, long-term benefits of an American presence in Africa."

The Inquisitor mused at the American's proposal in the brief period of time allowed between the envoy's presentation for reading and consideration. Liberia was bad even by African standards, thus he fully understood the delegates motives to attempt to solve it via annexation, an idea quite similar to Edafos's on paper, though much more modest. 'Were they trying to build up to something else?' he wondered as he read the immaculately crafted packet created by the American foreign ministry. While he found it aesthetically pleasing it also seemed wasteful. The documents created in Edafos that he had brought were simple with only the information that the Inquisition and High Council viewed as useful and were quite bare. They need not throw away time on something that would likely be disposed of following this conference. In fact, Linius

Turning his attention back to the meeting at hand and away from the packet he took a moment to observe the reactions to the proposal at hand. The crown princess's reaction was, once again, blatantly obvious to the Inquisitor despite her attempts to mask her amusement. 'Likely laughing at the irony of the idea at hand.' Linius pondered.

Edafos had hardly any interactions with the Americans following the coalition. The UCNA left Edafos alone and vice versa while mutually masking their contempt for each other. The Empire similarly respected the power of America as they did with Aeuria despite the former hardly ever used it. What little the majority of Edafosans knew about the New World was masked, like most things, with Imperial propaganda. "Democracy" was a dirty word in Edafos with the idea of a common man being granted the same voice as his superior and above all the Emperor being preposterous and a ludicrous concept indeed, it was seen no less as mob rule. To the Inquisitor a strange mentality is found in the average American citizen; whereas an Edafosan knows their place and understands that the God Emperor knows best, an American, no matter how absurdly skewed or outrageously stupid their viewpoint may be was granted equal rights to speak and, Emperor permitting, even take office. At least the subjects of Aeuria and even Gibet have some level of understanding of the absurdness of the concept of a democracy, America essentially replaced what had worked for almost every nation for millennia, partially at least.

'I find myself in a position I will likely hold for the majority of these proceedings, unless of course a proposal is utterly outrageous.' Linius began after placing down the American parchment. 'I hold no ground to oppose this move, and as such I will not do so.'

Ferljochte Kening Haar fan Fryskarsjypel stepped out of the door of a private limousine parked near a quiet corner of the FOFP Headquarters with only a single guard following him. It was an unorthodox decision to send the head of state to a conference such as this, but the small kingdom had done nothing to anger anyone up until now and the conference was taking place in an area where the island archipelago was practically unheard of. Hopefully that might change, but for now, there was really no danger in this action. Along with that, Fryskarsjypel was currently in a state where it needed no immediate administration, and as such there would be nothing not dealt with in the intermittent time.

The enlightened king walked through the secluded secondary entrance and made his way for the meeting hall. If it weren’t for the guard and strange symbolism and embellishments on his suit, the monarch would have been mistaken for just another low level party member doing basic tasks around the headquarters as he walked through. They then arrived, and after a few moments of the guards not believing he was an actual head of state or diplomat, were let inside.

As he walked in, the Frysk King received several confused gazes, and a handful of mild surprise. Haar sat down, cleared his throat, and spoke to the rest of the room, “Yes, well, hello. I am Ferljochte Kening Haar of Fryskarsjypel, here to attend the conference. We have been making attempts to start making more foreign relations and involving ourself in the international community, so I figured that I might show up here myself—I am dearly sorry to be late, there was a storm related flight delay. Regardless, you can carry on and finish whatever it was you were discussing before, I don’t mean to interrupt.”

Wulff nodded with understanding and agreement following the Inquisitor's brief response and began to make the appropriate preparations to the map displayed on the screen. In the midst of updating the map and preparing to continue the meeting forward he was taken off guard by the entrance of someone into the meeting hall.

"What in the-" he said quietly under his breath to himself, rising to view whom was disturbing the meeting. Surprised though incredibly annoyed to see that it was a Frysk entering the room, no less their "enlightened" monarch dressed ceremonially, he swiftly recollected himself placed a fake smile on his face proceeding the monarch's self introduction.

"Ah, the Lord of Fryskarsjypel" Wulff said, gesturing the monarch to his seat. "No, by all means you are not interrupting anything at all, we were just concluding the American proposal" he said with a pinch of sarcasm notioning one of the servants to hand him the previous documents presented at this meeting. "For the sake of order, I would ask that you consult these concerning recent territorial propositions"

As the enlightened monarch enlightened himself further, Wulff returned to his seat and gestured one of head of security, as well as the guard that escorted the monarch into the room to speak with him whilst the room still murmured among themselves.

"Min Minister?" the security head inquired, leaning in so the Wulff would not have to speak up, even though he understood what order that was about to be given.

"Make sure to inform me well in advance if we have any other sudden guests, I would not be made a fool again by some island's foreign despot who decides to show on their own leisure" he said sharply to the security head, whom nodded in understanding.

"As for you" he said turning his attention to the guard. "I need not remind you of your duties here, yes? Door opening for unexpected foreigners is not allowed in my building as I recall"

"Of course Min Minister" he responded, immediately returning to attention.

"Excellent" he said clapping his hands together. "You may return to your duties" he said as the two gave the party salute with Wulff simply waving them off.

As the two walked off and the doors to the meeting hall were closed once again Wulff immediately returned the meeting to its focus.

"Now that we have that little diversion out of the way, we should continue" he said as the room returned its attention towards him. "Returning to the topic at hand, I do believe that the American proposal has seen no opposition from anyone here, therefore I believe that topic is concluded" he said reorganizing the papers in front of him.

"Now we return to the list of guests here today, the Edafosans, since the Aeurians have agreed to abstain from further gains here today for those not aware of the order" he said briefly turning his attention from the Frysk monarch towards the Inquisitor, already bracing for the firestorm about to take place. "Inquisitor Linius, you may proceed"

The entrance of the king of that pacific island interested the inquisitor. He was not expecting the Frysks, an apparent collection of Frisians dubbing themselves as a kingdom that had only recently reached a century of age making this nation practically brand new when compared to that of Edafos' three millennia as Linius recalled. There was hardly any notable documentation in the massive Inquisitorial Library regarding these lost Germanics save from the barest of details describing this far-flung isle as a center of trade and commerce in the southern Pacific.

Their chosen representative also intrigued the inquisitor, apparently styling himself and his kingdom as a so-called "enlightened state", a label that could suit the Empire fittingly. Linius analyzed the man carefully as he made his way to his assigned seat and quickly questioned to himself what exactly made this xenous enlightened. He was just a mere man more akin to that of a High Lord back in the Throne City than that of any sort of legendary figure. The preserved bodies of long past saints of the Empire were even larger than this man, and that is not to mention the God Emperor Himself. 'Perhaps it deals with his intelligence compared to his subjects?' Linius pondered to himself as the room chattered before being silence by Wulff.

The Inquisitor gestured the nearest servant to dispatch the next documents involving Edafos' next reclamation endeavor here, the lost vassal kingdom of Nubia.

'In fealty the God Emperor's will, the Eternal Empire of Edafos shall request that the lands of Nubia are returned in full, or as a re-established vassal kingdom.' the Inquisitor began watching as the servant handed the papers to those in the room. 'Nubia presents to the surrounding regions an opportunity for stability and development of its lands and resources, if placed under adequate and steady hands.' he explained.

'Similar to that of Egypt, the ties of this land to the rest of the Empire can not be understated. Geography ties this land closely to the north via the Nile, history tells that these people into the Empire by the Emperor Himself and were enlightened by His wisdom, and economically in the past and present trade and the harvesting of its material wealth was a key benefactor to its success.' he said, thinking back on the immense and often complicated history of the Empire and Nubia, made even more difficult with Aeurian colonization further south into East Africa. Its status as a vassal and semi-independent state made it one of the few areas where xenous goods and individuals could enter the Empire to conduct business of any sort even when the Imperial Governors often being threatened with death or military force due to the heresy of allowing xenous on Imperial soil. Despite these threats, an Aeurian or generally any other foreigner could trust in their safety there, thus making it one of the only hubs of commerce and communication between Edafos and the outside world. The Parangelia Xenous documented who entered and left this region extensively, granting some with particular talents to do excursions outside the Empire into foreign lands from this region.

'It has been lacking in general oversight, but holds the potential to become a thriving area once more, should it be returned back into our hands in full, or in part as the aforementioned vassal state as it was in previous centuries.'

Brown skimmed through the second proposal outlined on the dossier provided. He was surprised that Edafos was even remotely willing to create a vassal instead of full on annexing the land. He supposed that creating a vassal state would act as a sort of buffer in the already reasonable distance between Edafos and Aeuria and would go over better with nations like America. Brown, however, was not sold on the return of Nubia to Aeuria.

Brown could already read the headlines of the human rights violations that would likely occur following the regaining of Nubia by Edafos. The Nubians were likely to be subject to mass killings by the Inquisition due to their religious beliefs and their former lands settled by colonizers. Another culture and people destroyed due to nothing but a mere difference in religious theology. Despite this, he understood that fighting the Inquisitor over such a matter would be futile, he would have the support of the nations of UFIN and Scandinavia regarding the treatment of the people. If he was to contest the proposal, he would need a different platform to stand on.

"Inquisitor Linius, if I may ask a question," Brown began to ask, already feeling the piercing and cold gaze of the Inquisitor starring back at him. "You've described the economic potential of Nubia because of its resources and geographic position, and have promised a return to regional stability, but why does this require Edafosan intervention to accomplish?" he asked, glancing over the papers again.

"Nubia can, with adequate investment and development, become a thriving nation without needing it to be subject to another nation? And as for stability, I have concerns over further Edafosan expansion closer towards Aeuria's sphere of influence in East Africa."
Behold the Canadafest Destiny!
One day we’ll rule the world. Then you’ll all be sore-y, eh?

Foreign Minister Bordeaux quickly produced his handkerchief as a coughing fit began - the Aeurian was shocked by the further territorial demands by Edafos and the Scandinavians' willingness to allow the conference to further be abused by them. After ensuring her escort was not dying, Crown Princess Marie turned her attention to the American Ambassador. Breathing a silent sigh of relief, she closed her eyes for a moment.

This conference was quickly becoming lopsided. It was apparent UFIN's members were voting in bloc, all to the aid of an otherwise isolated and internationally despised theocratic empire. She had no doubt in her mind that deals had been struck before the conference formally began. Marie was however relieved to hear Ambassador Brown's concerns of an Edafosan return to Nubia. She would not be alone in this position and if the two could cooperate, they would make a formidable presence at the table. And while Brown likely felt restricted by the formalities and protocols of diplomacy, Marie's patience was running thin.

Fighting off expressions of disgust and incredulity as her eyes settled on Linius, the Princess spoke. "Inquisitor, the Commonwealth will not consent to the restoration of yet another territory - whatever its level of autonomy - so close to our colonies. You have already stolen Egypt and its Canal at this table. If you honestly believe Aeuria will spend the resources to safeguard the Red Sea while you commit genocide on its shores, you are as delusional as your so-called religion." Taking a moment to allow the room to adjust to the new level of hostility, Marie took a sip of water. "No - what you propose, Inquisitor, is simply out of the question. If our hosts expect to retain the Aeurian delegation and any sense of impartiality, they will curb the continued abuses by the Edafosan Inquisitor - not encourage them. Failing this, I see little cause to abide the decisions previously reached by what is becoming an increasingly biased conference." Turning her eyes to Herr Wulff, she spoke in accented Nordic. "If I were you, I would not jeopardize the future of Kongoland on behalf of a foreign religious zealot." She hoped Linius spoke the language.

Wulff looked from the dossier, then at the Crown Princess, and back to the documents, showing with surprise and raising an eyebrow that she had some grasp, despite it being heavily accented, of the Nordic language. Contrary to what he knew they assumed, the Americans and Aeurians were not alone in their concerns however. The moment the minister heard the name "Nubia" he could feel his stomach twist in reaffirmation of his fear of causing a storm in the conference room, knowing full well what any sort of support for Edafosan expansion south by any nation here would bury the possibility to this meeting reaching a productive conclusion. Though he agreed with many of the Inquisitor's ideological and racial beliefs, he would not allow said commonality blind his rationality.

"Inquisitor Linius, I must respectfully say that I agree with the opposition's argument, and express the need for limits here." Wulff said as a servant handed him another cigarette. He was going to need it to get through this mess. "While, this conference can admittedly be viewed as no better than a land grab by stronger nations, that does not mean we can just take whatever we want" he said lighting his cigarette. "I am of the opinion that any sort of intrusion south by your empire will do the opposite of what you have proposed here, and the idea of returning Nubia to Edafosan hands is ignoring the fact that, while your empire's ideals may have, the world around it has changed" he said to the Inquisitor sternly, matching his angry gaze with his own.

"I admit, I fully understand your rationality and beliefs. The yearning to restore a nation's greatness is a powerful motivator, one that we have used for our own recent ambitions. But those ambitions should not be undertaken at the expense of sense, Herr Linius. Therefore, I am taking the executive decision as the host of the conference here and concluding this proposal" he said writing off Edafos' proposition with a pen, crossing off a small portion of his notes.

"And, if I may give a suggestion, Herr Linius; don't anger the Aeurians further. And if you do have any more proposals to present here today, make sure that they do not go any farther south" he said glancing at the next nation to make a proposal.

"Now we turn to the Frysks"

Haar, hearing the mention of, albeit not in proper Frysk, his people, finally made his was back to the table. Brazenly mumbling “myn god!” under his breath as he brushed past the Scandinavian guards which had pulled him into a corner and not allowed his free movement around the room by order of Linius, the island monarch once again took his seat, this time to much less displeasure of the hosting diplomat.

“Thank you, Hear Wulff,” he said, realizing he had accidentally slipped and said a word in Frysk, hoping the linguistic overlap of his title would be large enough as not to be disrespectful, or perhaps even indistinguishable, “I shall begin. Before I was, well, pulled off to the side, I already formally introduced myself, so I figure I can dive right into what I have to say." Haar cleared his throat, and made himself more comfortable in the seat, placing a small parcel of papers upon the table in front of him and leaning back slightly.

"Now, while I am here to make Fryskarsjypel's voice heard, due to the distance of the African lands in question, and our... only very small role in international politics, I am not here to request for direct territorial acquisition, at least not except perhaps for under very certain circumstances. Anyway, while I do not plan to formally annex any territories, I am interested in securing possible trade and resource—or perhaps even political or otherwise—deals or agreements with whatever political units come into fruition. In addition, if ever there becomes a dispute between various parties in the conference that cannot be easily resolved, as a neutral mediator I could possibly be helpful."

He paused for a moment, looking around the room, and then finished, stating, "Now, if any African claimants are interested in any of the aforementioned deals or arrangements, we can discuss that next."

Kovacs had patiently permitted the Scandinavian to express his concern regarding the minor territorial dispute on the the maps. Indeed, he hadn't taken the time, nor had he the inclination, to delve further into the nuances regarding the Kongoland. He beamed softly when the Aeurian princess had given her concent to the establishment of the Kamerun terriroty as a legitimate colony once again.

Naturally, Edafos hadn't any real qualms to it--how could they? Not when it was on the other end of the continent from their beloved Egypt. He was still a little hurt that none of the others present had opted to defend that little state, nor had they done very much to bolster the idea of a unified front amongst the former coalition memebers. Granted, this had been as the Kaiserin had expected, and he was under orders not to disrupt the overall dissection of Africa over a canal.

"I should like to apologize, Herr Wulff. I am quite sure that it was never the intention of the Foreign Office, nor the Kaiserin, to offend. I am certain that the mentioned doverlap was purely a mistake." He offers a weak smile.

Once the American had brought about his own country's desire to reacquire Liberia, Kovacs did little more than agree with the rest of those present. After all, the last thing the Federation needed to do was leave a bad taste for that continental superpower. Not yet, anyhow.

What had really surprised him was when the Frisians showed up.

Of all the nations in the world, the last ones the Federation had expected to see were those distant (emphasizing distant) cousins. An upstart attempt at so-called enlightened civil governance. One could only imagine what reasoning their king, of all people, had decided to attend this clearly imperial matter. He was mildly amused when the security detail had momentarily apprehended him. However, this emotionw as cut short once the Edafosian requested a further territorial allotment. This time, Nubia. The near-immediate and hostile response from the Aeurian princess had taken him aback. She was certainly a spitfire, and indeed she reminded him of his own monarch. Perhaps there was more common ground to be had between their two empires, headed by strong willed women?

He found he agreed with her on almost all points, even if she had agreed to the similar--and almost more disasterous--sacrifice of Egpyt. He was also beocming keenly aware that the Fascists were apparently voting enmasse.

"The Federation is inclined to agree with both the Americans and Aeurians on the matter of Nubia. We may be here to, essentially, carve up the continent, but we are not here to engage in wholesale sacrifice in the name of appeasement." He sipped from his glass of water, all the while making glances at the Frisian.

"A nice small packet of information" Wulff thought to himself after the king of the Frysks present their opinions on the ongoing discussion, though he would more than likely ignore the tiny island for the rest of the day's meeting. They would instead likely have a more vocal impact on the next day's meetings discussing the economic and diplomatic future between the continents. He spent some time completing his notes to ensure the utmost accuracy for Det Lederen's later assessment of the meeting's outcome as the room talked among themselves briefly.

"Excellent, your opinion and potential role has been noted" Wulff replied. While not being entirely sarcastic despite his urges telling him otherwise his wording would certainly cause the king and the other delegates in the room to question whether or not the Frysk would be further disregarded or not.

"Well then, why don't we move on shall we?" he said as he turned to face the Gibetans, now adjusted to their presence as to allow his utter hatred for their monarchist cousins to soften slightly, his attitude now giving off a false sense of acceptance. "It is now the time for the Gibetan envoy to make a proposal or abstain"

"It is now the time for the Gibetan envoy to make a proposal or abstain"

Andros regarded the Dane with abject contempt. Outwardly, it was the part of every diplomatic functionary to be amiable, but the political divide between their two countries was no secret. The dreadful events of "Black December", as it was known in the Federation, had done much to strengthen the reactionary elements of the traditionally very conservative federal government. While the flower of fascism had flourished to their north, it had been pulled out by the roots in central Europe. That they (the Federation) had done much to spirit away any and all monarchist loyalists and political opponents to the regime since that day in December, 1921, had only been an outward showing of this disdain. And while the royal family had departed the continent for America, there were more than a handful of deposed aristocrats decorating the halls of the imperial court.

The Hungarian reviews his notes for the conference, going back and checking that he has done as directed. The minor mistake regarding the border of Kamerun and the Kongoland was a quick one to remedy. He waves his hand.

"The Federation has nothing further to ask of this conference. Abstain."

Princess Marie reviewed the Frysk documents with faint interest as Wulff passed the torch to Kovács, who just as quickly returned it. Her thoughts were interrupted by Minister Bordeaux, who swore under his breath as he opened a message on his phone. Looking at the man expectantly, Marie waited.

Leaning in to whisper, the Foreign Minister spoke. "One of my aides is demanding I excuse myself to have a word with him - apparently your father has sent a surprise directive that this idiot won't just text me."

"Then excuse yourself, Minister Bordeaux." Marie commanded bluntly. "Or would you rather my father's instructions go unfollowed?"

Shaking his head, the Aeurian took a deep breath. Twisting his cigarette into the ashtray as he stood, he did his best to remain inconspicuous as he made his way towards the doors - a rather difficult task for a foreign minister at a diplomatic summit. Stopped by the Scandinavian guards, Bordeaux quietly explained the situation. One of the men made his way to Wulff, relaying Bordeaux's words. The Scandinavian looked irritated at the interruption but nodded.

Slipping out of the conference room, Bordeaux waited for the doors to close before backhanding his aide as hard as he could. As the man clutched his face in pain and shock, the Foreign Minister ripped the folder out of his hand before flipping it open. Scanning the document, a knot of anxiety began to form in his stomach as he read further and further. Again swearing under his breath, he turned around and signaled the guards to let him back in.

After awkwardly excusing himself back to his chair, Bordeaux slid the folder in front of Marie.

The Crown Princess frowned at the folder's thinness before noticing Minister Bordeaux was lighting another cigarette with a shaky hand. "What is it?"

Taking a long drag from his cigarette, the Aeurian inhaled deeply. "Ethiopia."

Without hesitation, Marie turned her attention to the folder and read its contents. Even she was in disbelief. A long-standing relationship between the Ethiopian imperial family and Aeurian intelligence services, a brokered deal between the Foreign Ministry and an Ethiopian mining conglomerate which prevented the country's invasion in the reconquest of Aeurian East Africa, and a secret meeting between her father and the Ethiopian emperor in Northern Aeuria which had only just concluded.
According to the document, Ethiopia was to become an Aeurian Protectorate - Emperor Zera Selassie would remain on the throne and retain political autonomy while an advisory council of Aeurian officials would be created to direct policy. In exchange, Ethiopia would enjoy the full military protection of the Commonwealth and pay a mere fraction of the colonial taxes expected of Aeurian territories. It was an unprecedented compromise, she wondered how much it had cost.

Leaning back in her chair, the Princess felt exhausted. The directive had blindsided her and she could not find herself in agreement with her father's continued territorial expansion nor the political arrangement with the Ethiopians. The military was already spread too thin and the foundations of the new colonial governments had yet to settle. Civil unrest was rampant despite the regular government reports to the contrary. She worried how the other colonies would react to the preferential treatment of Ethiopia. How was she to announce this to the conference? She had made it clear from her opening remarks her delegation sought no new territories and had already suffered an embarrassment at the table. Anything further would begin to reflect poorly on her reputation. Grinding her teeth, she now understood why the Foreign Minister smoked 3 packs a day.

"You will announce this." Marie ordered quietly, turning to Bordeaux. "It's not something for these people to debate, it's the new reality forced upon us by my father." she noted with disdain. "I don't like it, I certainly don't expect them to."

Minister Bordeaux only stared blankly ahead, exhaling streams of smoke through his nose. Even for him, a veteran of Aleksander's reign, the amount of subterfuge and compartmentalization of information had become too much. It was now regularly interrupting his work, dragging him into the hallway only minutes before. Even he, the Commonwealth's Foreign Minister, was unaware of the meeting between his Emperor and his Ethiopian counterpart. Closing his eyes for a brief moment, he cleared his mind with a shake of his head. "Of course, Your Highness. I imagine Herr Wulff will be most interested in an explanation... and apology." Tapping the ash from his cigarette, Bordeaux leaned forward on the table.

"Then on that note I believe that we have almost reached-" Wulff said before being interrupted by one of his guards and the sight of some of the Aeurians standing up, supremely annoyed that this was now the second time in an hour that he had been interrupted.

"Min Minister, the Aeurian Minister Bordeaux has requested a few moments outside of the conference room" the guard said to Wulff as the two looked to the Aeurian as he awkwardly waited for a few brief moments outside of the doors.

"Those doors have become such an incredible nuisance today" Wulff said after making an exacerbated sigh before nodding and gesturing the guards to open the doors. Although the minister and what appeared to be one of his aides waiting for him outside the door only remained outside the room for a moment the pause felt like several minutes to Wulff. He supposed if the Aeurians were to have themselves a brief moment he would in turn review his notes on their second and final territorial request for Nord-Guinea.

Looking up from his notes as the doors opened for the Aeurian again, this time holding a folder. Seeing that it was important enough for the Aeurians to interrupt the conference Wulff assumed that its contents held something more important than just some notes and documents one of their aides forgot to bring this morning, it was abundantly obvious it held a direction from Praevalidus or even emperor Aleksander himself.

"Welcome back to the conference, I hope you've had a productive excursion" Wulff said after waiting a few moments for the Aeurians to review the contents of the new folder. "Is there something you would like to present to the conference room before we continue? I would like to know what is important enough interrupt the conference for a second time" he said grinning but obviously annoyed.
