War Breaks Out in Estovakia

March 20th, 2078

War has broken out in Estovakia after months of unrest and conflict. With a number of different forces involved things in the region have become more complex. Most recently Polonge has launched an invasion from the west and Atmora continues to pound the nations with airstrikes. With all of these occurring protesters have taken up arms and are actively fighting government forces. Rebel forces have struggled to gain a foothold as Atmoran airstrikes decimate their numbers. In Atmora the Free Estovakian Army has been labeled a "terrorist organisation hell bent on destroying regional peace" (Fredriksen).

As the days go by the situation in Estovakia only gets worse as refugees flee the country. With Atmoran airstrikes indiscriminately attacking rebel-held area civilian causalities continue to rise and more people are trying to flee the country. President Reeves has been slow to declare an official policy as the administration tries to avoid another Astrol Islands incident. Currently, there are nearly 250 Timerian forces on the ground aiding rebel forces without support from North Timeria. There have been allegations of attacks on those force but casualties have yet to be reported by the military.

In the west, the 3rd, 4th and 5th Armies of Polonge are marching through the nation in a sign of high military aggression. Without care of civilians, the military has taken a large chunk of territory without an official declaration of war and no reasonable cause. Airstrikes from Polonge have also decimated the civilian population as they try and flee the madness. This has also gone by without an official response from the Reeves administration, a clear sign they don't know what to do about the situation. With Polonge's unwarranted invasion of Estovakia North Timerian should be worried about the aggressive nature of Polonge's government.

Currently North Timeria's Carrier Strike Group Izanami is not far from Estovakia and has been headed in that direction. The strike group was meant to continue to port but the navy has extended the strike groups time at sea to 2 extra months off the coast of Estovakia. There have been no official statements of purpose but the fleet will maintain patrol until official relieved. The strike group currently has 2 of North Timeria's strongest carriers at sea with nearly 300 aircraft ready for use.

ANBU Skeleton
March 20th, 2078
Svittivka, Estovkia

“Let’s do it… everybody has their assignment so follow the plan and execute it.” Agents Nehemiah Locus led the ANBU team working in Svittivka with local rebels. While the rebels held a lot of territory outside of the city most of the cities major areas were held by government forces. Their mission was to lead the rebels in an operation to capture the city and establish a rebel stronghold. Using the chaos in the city protesters held rebels get into position and establish a network across the city. With government forces so far from the capital support would be sparse and a quick efficient strike would seal the deal.

Once within the city Agent Locus moved to his assignment, assisting in capturing the cities airport. His team of 6 would lead the charge there while other ANBU teams worked across the city with rebel forces. At 0600 hours the operation started up as forces across the rebels pushed on the government forces. As protesters made it hard for forces to respond the rebels attacked with swiftness and urgency.

Locus led the rebels in taking the airport headed towards the main terminal. As they approached they began to take fire from government forces. They had little heavy weaponry but the advanced weapons the ANBU had leveled the playing field. ANBU forces targeted government heavy equipment while rebels held them down. The operation was going as planned.

Outside Koziabyl, Occupied Estovakia
March 21, 2078

General Bakos Mihály stood in the heart of the Eródvar, a new vehicle designed after the Nubian of their northern neighbors and the Iravian landcarrier. A mobile fortress, the Eródvar was a massive bomb shelter with guns, standing at 25 feet high and 800 feet long it moved at a respectable pace, and was quick to destroy anything in its way.

The 5th Imperial Army was quickly making its way towards the city of Koziabyl, which stood in the way of the capital of Estovakia. With 180,000 soldiers in it, all of whom were battle harden veterans, they torn through the countryside ruthlessly. General Mihály, the famous Titan of Ajka, had no patience for anything than complete obedience and loyalty from his troops, and absolute surrender from his enemies. The 5th Army mostly ignored the civilians themselves, but any sign of resistance was meet with devastating consequences.

Due to the close proximity of Estovakia and Polonge, aerial attacks west of the capital could always occur within an hour or so of orders, often times sooner.

When one such town, that of Loughnes, had chosen to resist, a force of Oslo’s men attacking, injuring several of the Polongain soldiers, General Mihály called in an airstrike on the entire village and told his men to open fire on everyone. There were no survivors.

But on the whole, the 5th Army’s task was speed, as was that of the 4th Army under General Renáto Lakatos, who was swiftly leading them eastward. They would strike with lightening speed, capturing the towns of the countryside before moving onto the next. General Lakatos compared it to an amoeba, quickly in-circling villages, cut through with a fiery path of destruction before moving on to the next village before anyone new what to do. Speed and chaos. The greatest weapons of the mechanized 4th Army.

Bledapestra, Polonge
All along the way, General Anett Csatár, based in Bledapestra caused arguably the most destruction with her indiscriminate air strikes, not the ones called in by the armies, but a separate campaign to eliminate the enemy. The head of the Air Force ordered a bombardment of 300 Fokos missiles in Koziabyl. She then ordered drone strikes, used for more specific targets on rebels in Svittivka and a Oslo Government Garrison in Sabivé.

Ploce, Polonge
Meanwhile on the waters of Lake Royva, Commodore Aloysius Héroux, a Deritain-Polongain Officer in the green-water navy was preparing an amphibious invasion of Estovakia from across the lake. Within 18 hours would have 15,000 troops on the three prong peninsula north of the Polongain Occupied parts of Estovakia and in 25 hours he would have 11,000 men landing just north of Koziabyl and after that, in the capital of Estovakia itself. He had already ordered three trimaran littoral combat ships, the Gyózelem, the Rombolo and his favorite as well as the fastest, the Megsemmisítés:

Kisalu, Occupied Estovakia

And as the 5th and 4th Armies cut through Estovakia with devasting efficiency, the Air Force brought down hell from the skies relentlessly and the green-water navy prepares to open up another front, an even dark campaign was being waged.

General Vasa Géza, known as the most organized man in Polonge was not fighting a war like General Mihály or General Lakatos, who both genuinely hoped for a better future and took no pleasure from the killing, though served their nation and the world as was there duty.

No, General Géza was not fighting a war. He was bringing about Armageddon.

As the 3rd Army crept after the lighting forces of the 5th and 4th, Géza ordered carefully and methodically laid out plans for what to do with those captured or the confused civilians caught behind enemy lines.

The answer was death.

Géza ordered his officers to have the troops seize everyone in a certain area that was not a Polongain soldier and take them to a designated camp. There, they were all executed. General Géza has no time or care for people. He did not discriminate against anyone outside of Polonge for anything other than their lack of being Polongain. He would waste no time thinking that someone was inferior. It did not matter. They need only die. And he and his army were no strangers to this, having carrying out a similar program in Vajdasa only months before. And his soldiers knew not to betray the secrecy that General Géza demanded. He’d sooner wipe out entire battalions than have a leak in his ship. It resulted in terrifying efficiency.

Already, General checked from his list, they had executed in just two days 32,259 Estovakians. A resounding success as far as Géza was concerned, though he was sure that he could move at a faster rate. And He was brutal. No one was spared and he went to the greatest of lengths to leave no witness, no one alive to tell the tale of his Armageddon. In his wake, he left ghost towns, completely devoid of the native people, chopped up so that they may be used as fertilizer for the land, guarded by only the soldiers that had murdered them.

He had his second in command, Laurenz van Houten-Göbel, confiscate property and send it to Polongains, having the wealth found redistributed to them.

Mihály would conquer them.
Lakatos would break them.
Géza would obliterate them.

ANBU Skeleton
March 20th, 2078
Svittivka, Estovkia

Across the city, rebel forces were taking control of key areas and repelling government forces. Their main objectives were already secured and protesters were parading through the streets. The ANBU team had successfully completed their objectives and were now headquarters with rebel leaders. Victor Voychek the leader of the FEA spoke with Agent Locus at the now secured airport. With Svittivka secured they could now set up permanent base operations in the city and help to coordinate efforts across the nations. There were rebel stronghold and protest scattered across the country. With the airport secured North Timeria could now fly in support equipment for the rebel forces on the ground. At 0100 hours 3 stealth transport planes would fly in and delivery the first batch of equipment to set up a rebel network. The package included gear to set up a command and control and communications gear to spread to other rebel forces. The initial package would unite rebel forces and create an ecosystem for them to coordinate together.

Koziabyl, Occupied Estovakia
March 22, 2078

Battle of Koziabyl

General Bakos Mihály surveyed the ruins of downtown Koziabyl. The battle had ended just little over an hour or two ago. It had been a violent clash of Generalissimo Oslo’s forces. The Estovakians, those supporting the junta fought bravely, but they were vastly outnumbered.

The 5th Army reached Koziabyl as the sun was setting last night and had stopped just outside the city center before drawing out Oslo’s men. General Mihály proceeded to then retreat from the city as he fired on the advancing soldiers. Then, he sprung his trap, the tank brigades on the flanks of the battle attack, crashing down on the enemy like the waves of the Red Sea on the Egyptians. While he was able to catch much of the front half of the soldiers retreated into the center of the city.

And so General Mihály put the city to the torch. A flamethrower brigade was sent in to set the perimeter, trapping in an area of 2.6 square miles before closing in, setting fire to every building in the area, regardless of the occupants. From outside the city General Mihály ordered an artillery bombardment of the city with incinerator shells. Soon a man made firestorm was gilding downtown Koziabyl.

At 8:16 pm, General Mihály called off the attack and watched the city burn. Patrols were stationed just outside of the city, firing on anyone who attempted to flee the roaring flames.

Finally, after hours of flames, the fire died down in the sunrise of the morning. Much of the central part of the court was in charred ruins and those who had survived were shock down. When they tried to surrender, General Mihály refused, and had them executed. As he surveyed the remains, he had the reports drafted. 1,735 Estovakian soldiers killed. 9,555 civilians reported dead from the remains that they could fine. 4,914 civilians were reported to be injured. General Mihály ordered that they be sent to Kisalu to be cared for by General Géza. He was completely unaware that he was sending them to their doom.

Kisalu, Occupied Estovakia
March 22, 2078

General Géza had a problem. Apparently there a few people wondering about the disappearance of tens of thousands of people disappearing without a trace.

So he decided to have a small bit of theatrics. He ordered in several hundred actors from Polonge to come into Kisalu to act as Estovakians. Then there was the arrival of Crown Princess Maria Christina and her husband, Crown Prince Matthieu.

“Oh darling are you sure we should be visiting the front lines?” Maria Christina asked as she sat in the helicopter that was taking them to Kisalu, a small Estovakian city not from from the border of Polonge and firmly under the control of their forces.

“I am sure that all shall be fine a beloved.” Matthieu kissed her hand.

The two of them had been inseparable. Even now as they visited the frontline, only Matthieu, as the Consort was a less important figure, was suppose to go, but his beloved wife had insisted.

“I do hope that you are correct.” Maria Christina twisted a lock of her famous blonde hair around her finger and relaxed a bit.

When they arrived in Kisalu, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess we’re meet with pomp. General Géza himself greeted them with a smile, Boeing down deeply to them.

“Your Imperial Highnesses. How wonderful to have you visit us.”

“A pleasure to support our troops.” Maria Christina said with a smile. “You truly are an important part in our nation’s defense and security. And it is a righteous and honorable service that you are providing to the people of Estovakia. I truly hope that in the future we will be able to see a strong peaceful United Estovakia.”

“Indeed.” Matthieu added. “It is good to see the great progress that you and Generals Mihály and Lakatos have been made.”

“Yes, and already we are working to rebuild here.” General Géza gestured them forward and they all walked towards a convertible, a team of cameramen following them.

For the next eight hours Maria Christina and Matthieu were given a well planned tour of Kisalu. They visited a hospital that did have real Estovakians, though unbeknownst to them they did not visit them, instead seeing the actors that General Géza has ordered there. Lining the streets of those that they went down, visiting a park and few of the nicer houses that were being occupied by the officers in the Polongain Imperial Army. Everywhere the “Estovakians” waved the blue flag of free-Oslo Estovakia and much more importantly the flag of Polonge. They smiled and fawned at Crown Prince and Crown Princess.

They were meet with cheers and adoration.

Finally, as their tour ended, General Géza returned them to their helicopter and sent them and the camera crew on their way.

“What a lovely little trip.” Maria Christina said as they re-entered Polonge’s airspace.

“Indeed. I can truly see a future for a new and vibrant Untied Estovakia.” Matthieu smiled.

“A wonderful future I’m sure.”

As General Géza returned to his duties after the departure of the crown princess and her husband, he evacuated the hospital of its actors. He ordered that the hospital be filled to the brim of with captured Estovakians and then destroyed. As the building collapsed, erupting into flames and smoke, he pinned the official report of deaths.

8,000 Estovakians killed in the attack by the F.E.A. No survivors.

7 F.E.A rebels found behind the attack and killed.

Let the world think that the FEA was behind such death and horrible acts of terrorism.

Meanwhile He then looked at his own private reports of his massive terrifying operation. 20,376 civilians dead, their bodies deposed of, their wealth confiscated and several more towns left abandoned.

With things getting worse in the west everything was becoming more clear as the situation developed. In Koziabyl a Timerian TIA agents sent in his last report to command as he died in the city. The agent was observing the situation before he got caught in the crossfire. His final report gave more detail on the situation and the length of evil going on during the occupation. As expected President Reeves has denounced the Polongain forces and ordered a immediate withdrawal from Estovakia. Reeves has stated that they have 48 to pull back an return to Polonge or face serious consequences. Nothing less than a full withdrawal will be accepted by the North Timerian government and following the withdrawal of Polongain forces a full investigation will take place.

Office of the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Campbell has addressed the situation currently ongoing in Estovakia, and the Prime Minister has stated Atmora and Polonge will not be withdrawing from the region until things are resolved, and has warned President Reeves to be mindful towards Polonge. Because any action taken against Polonge, will be dealt with accordingly even if it means a military retaliation. Prime Minister Campbell has made it clear to Polonge, that Atmora will uphold the Treaty of Jedlovo.

Field Marshal Lord Altena has announced in talks with the Prime Minister, that they’ve agreed to send the Sixth Imperial Army, under the command of General Count Valentijn van Tannenberg to act as a mediator between Timeria and Polonge.

Bledapestra, Polonge
March 22, 2078

Prime Minister Nickolaus von Hopfer, Prince of Dohány scoffed as he looked at President Reeves’ demands. Was the President of North Timeria so foolished to think that he could command them to leave Estovakia? He sent a public message back to President Reeves.

Mr. President,

I can understand your concern for the people of Estovakia. The so called reports of the events in Koziabyl are practically fantastical, the so-called claims of a city being put to the torched. It brings back the ideas of the madness of six decades ago when the world was such a savage place. I assure you that not one in Polonge would ever allow such a heinous act to take place. Her Majesty the Empress has tasked me to get to the very bottom of this situation. As for your request of a withdrawal of Imperial Forces in 48 hours. President Reeves it is assumed you are not a stupid man, and if you are not a stupid man that it would be impossible to withdraw forces in Estovakia, forces that are busy helping the scattered people of Estovakia under the capable hands of General Vasa Géza, who earned public and world wide approval for his great governance of the southern provinces after they had been attacked by Joskaiotes; within 48 hours. And as any country bumpkin with half of a brain would know it would take at least 2 weeks to full withdraw pur forces. And again, as I assume you are not a bumbling fool, but someone with any sense of logic and not a complete and total idiot, then you would know that to remove a force such as ours would be to leave Estovakia would be to leave it as a state worse than it was when Kisalu was saved. Internal chaos would lead to hundreds of thousands of more death and new and terrible terrorist groups would rise from the crumbling state. Already the FEA has killed thousands after bombing a hospital. Without Polongain forces to stop them, who knows how many more lives would have been lost. In Novigrad, Generalissimo Oslo is a cruel and terrible dictator. Surely you Mr. President would not stand by as a dictator runs Estovakia into the ground. Since the beginning our goal has been to help Estovakia. It would be cruel and inhuman of you President Reeves to demand this of Polonge, to condemn Estovakia to a helping fate and to so blatantly disregard life. But surely you are not such a man, but one of respect and honor who will stand with the free people of the world, you will stand with Polonge so that we may as a united world spread a new age of peace and stability with no more bloodshed. Surely you will do the correct thing and not the idiotic thing.

Sincerely, Your Dear Friend and Brother in Life,
Nickolaus von Hopfer

Amsterdam, Dutch-Empire
March 22, 2078

Following the unfair ultimatum presented to Polonge, Prime Minister Henry Asbury of the Dutch-Empire has responded in kind, sending two warships off the coast of eastern Estovakia with a message of his own.

Prime Minister Asbury has assured North Timeria that should an attack be made on Polonge, the Dutch would be honor bound to support the government of Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Maria Anna. Asbury has suggested that a new agreement be settled between the two parties in order to look for a more advantageous solution.

March 22nd, 2078
Connerian Capitol Building

"That's all we'll have time for now, unfortunately. Internal Affairs Secretary Weiss will have another briefing for you in a few hours. Thank you."

Ignoring the frantic cries of reporters, President Joshua Swanner stepped off the podium, escorted by men in black suits and black ties. As he exited the Media Room, he heard a small voice in his ear.

"Mr. President, we've put together the briefing you requested. We'll be in Briefing Room 7."

Swanner nodded and told his guards, "Let's get to BR 7."

Less than a minute later, the President stepped through the doors labeled Briefing Room 7 - LEVEL 7 STAFF ONLY. As he took his seat at the head of the table, he shrugged the jacket off of his shoulders sore from holding the weight of the world on his shoulders. He slowly rolled up his sleeves and placed his elbows on the table. "Alright, show me what you've got."

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Marie Watson stood. Barely on the job six months, she had replaced the grizzled veteran Steager, who had been one of Swanner's closest confidants, after Steager was forced to retire due to medical problems. Even modern technology couldn't do everything. Defense Secretary Henry Price stood behind her, an older, more reassuring face that could go toe to toe with the President. Watson, brought up a holographic map on the glass conference table.

"Mr. President, this is Estovakia. When we first gave you a briefing a few days ago regarding an outbreak of violence there, we positioned surveillance satellites here, here, and here. Without violating any hostile airspace, we've been able to watch Estovakia for the entirety of the violence there. I've prepared a dossier that you can read at your convenience with details, but suffice to say we have evidence of violence against civilians on the part of the Polongian armies invading from the west. This evidence is almost certainly water tight, and while not terribly specific, it is at least detailed enough to tell us the following: Polongian armies have indeed burned the city of Koziabyl, and we have evidence of them rounding up civilians and executing them. I'm advising that we put out a statement urging for peaceful resolution in the region, while also letting Polonge know we can call their bluff."

Price stepped forward. Rookie be damned, this was a battleground of ideas. "That's your idea of an appropriate response? A strongly worded statement, when people are being slaughtered?"

Watson turned to face the man. "Atmora is already there. I am not risking a conflict between global powers without exhausting our diplomatic options first."

Swanner cleared his throat and interjected. "We'll put out a statement. We'll send the proof to the Polongians - and send it to the Atmorans as well. I want a rapid response force mobilized, and options briefed for dealing with all relevant threats in the country. Seems like a bunch of shitty sides to choose from, so let's be ready to hit whoever we need."

The men and women gathered around the table and stood as Swanner rose from his chair, grabbed his coat, and left the room. As he walked to the elevator bank, again surrounded by his guards in black, he contemplated the situation at hand. This would be his last term - he would not run for re-election in 2080, and thus was reluctant to get the USC into an armed conflict that would be handed off to his successor. That would be ... bad form.

However, the deaths of thousands of civilians could not be ignored either. With that in mind, when he entered his office, he stared out the window for a few minutes before he began to write a brief memo to the government of Atmora. The Secretary of Foreign Affairs would go before the press later to give their strongly worded statement.

To whom it may concern in the Government of the Confederation of Atmora, specifically Prime Minister Campbell and Empress Katherine II

Recently, Connerian intelligence gathering satellites positioned above Estovakia have captured a series of images that support a disturbing conclusion: the Polongian Army has been involved in mass killings of civilians. The relevant intelligence has been attached to this message. I hope to have the aid of Atmora as we continue to investigate these atrocities and shed light on the culprits.

Yours,

President Joshua Swanner

Swanner sent the memo off to be sealed, screened, and sent. He was about to start writing a memo to Polonge when he changed his mind. Speaking as if to the walls of the room, he said, "Give me Prime Minister Hopfer as soon as possible, please."
Guns are tools, not toys.

Novigrad Assault
March 23 2078

As tensions increase between Timeria and Polonge, before a retreat has yet to be called. The National Security Council has approved for a military operation in Novigrad, a final assault to end the war quickly. Grand Admiral Johnston, Chief of the Spatial Staff raised the proposal, while Polonge will most likely not stop until Oslo is captured. He proposed to end the war, the Sol Fleet in most particularly the Terran detachment shall immediately deploy Orbital Drop Shock Troopers into the Estovakian capital: Novigrad and push their way towards the Presidential Palace arresting and forcing President Oslo to surrender and to be brought before an Atmoran Forces tribunal for punishment.

As the plan was approved, the Viscountess was about to dismiss the meeting, until the Minister of Foreign Affairs brought up the documents recently given to the Foreign Office by the US Department of Foreign Affairs.
”Ladies and gentlemen, as of recently I was given these documents by the US Secretary of Foreign Affairs, I have reviewed the content of these documents and I must say it requires immediate action. Within these documents it shows evidence of the war crimes committed by a certain General Géza. What I propose to Grand Admiral Johnston and before you all, is the immediate deployment of an ODST platoon to capture Géza and bring him before his government for questioning.”

Viscountess Campbell sighed ”Very well Eaton, I agree with you we need to capture Géza, but I want that man alive with no Polongian causalities, we already have an international incident as we have it already. I want you to inform Prime Minister Hopfer and Empress Maria Anna of our intentions in case the General resists.”

Elise Eaton, nodded her in confirmation and so did Admiral Johnston.
”That’s all folks, you are dismissed.”

ISV Kashima, as the order was quickly given to the Captain for the immediate deployment of ODST units in Novigrad and in Kislau. He didn’t hesitate and sounded the orders for two Shock Trooper platoon deployments. As the order was given the ODSTs quickly made their way down to the droppod bay, when all Shock Troopers were present. The captain sent the Hell-jumpers to their destinations.

Prime Minister Nickolaus von Hopfer was furious. He suddenly found himself in a international incident that he had not prepared for. He sent a fury of letters and orders. He had to act with lightning speed before all of his glorious plans were destroyed and cane crashing down around him.

Kisalu, Occupied Estovakia

Image

General Vasa Géza was stone faced as Kosta Coandă burst into his headquarters in Kisalu with a team of special forces.

“Vasa Géza, quickly now you must come with us.”

“Colonel General? What is the meaning of this?” Géza asked calming grabbing several papers quickly. He gathered the important ones just as Coandă stopped him.

“Sir Vasa Géza, on the orders of the Prime Minister, in the name of Her Imperial Majesty, you are hereby stripped of your command and under arrest!”

Géza reacted quickly. He putted out a lighter and set fire to the papers, the only physical evidence of his dangerous plan and its connection to him and his army. As they burst into flames he threw thin into his desk, setting the rest of his work a flame, the guards seized him and handcuffed him. They rushed out of his headquarters and hurried towards a waiting helicopter, the same one that had dropped off Kosta Coandă. Joining Géza in handcuffs was his second in command Laurenz van Houten-Göbel. Géza was barely on the chopper before it took off, speeding as quickly as possible as they fled the sight back west toward Polonge.

From that moment on, General Coandă was in charge of the 3rd Army and he had some things to change. He looked over at the charred remains of Géza’s plans. He hadn’t ordered them to stop the fire. Let whatever darkness Géza had been up to end with him. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. Besides, he had to deal with his guest that would be arriving soon.

Hopfer let out a sigh of relief as he got a message from Coandă that Géza was in-route towards Preicsa in southern Polonge.

Hopfer had been horrified by the photos that he had received from the US and the note that he had gotten from Atmora. Such things could spell disastrous for them unless he could get ahead of them. He was convinced that he could let Géza or Oslo fall in the hands of the Atmorans, most definitely it Géza. If Oslo fell to the Atmorans, it would snatch the Polongain victory and Maria Anna would have his head. And if Géza was arrested by the Atmorans, half the nation would be outraged and Géza might claim he wasn’t acting independently. He definitely needed to be punished, but he couldn’t be lost from Polongain hands.

So Hopfer has ordered Kosta Coandă, a colonel general and army engineer with political aspirations, to replace Géza and reverse the damaged the General had caused. He’d rather have the Atmor

Meanwhile Hopfer has ordered Bakos Mihály to race towards Novigrad as fast as he could.

Bakos Mihály sat in the Eródvar as his army raced towards the capital. Instead of his original path of destruction, he ordered a full on blitzkrieg, blasting through the Oslo Government’s defense, but not taking the time to truly occupy them. So fast was his charge North to Novigrad, he had had to leave behind 60,000 of his men, who trail after him. But the lost of a third of his army still allowed him to outnumber and outgun the Estovakians, and his moved ignored civilians, careful to avoid them now as they raced against the clock to capture Generalissimo Oslo.

Also in Novigrad was Commodore Aloysius Héroux. His amphibious forces were just now landing on the shores of the capital city as Mihály’s army marched outside of the city. While the Megsemmisítés and the Rombolo stayed a mile away from the coast, 15,500 men landed in the city, 3 Tank Battalions rolling up into the streets as the bombardment of the city that had been pounding it for nearly three days stopped, their Air Force retreating back to Ploce.

As Mihály, Héroux and the Atmorans all closed in on Oslo in Estovakia, General Lakatos and the 4th Army meet up with the 4th, 5th and 9th Marine Divisions who had seized control of the country south of the Lake up until Koziabyl. General Lakatos then ordered them all to move north to join the forces at Novigrad.

The press gathered as Mikulás Coandă, son of Colonel General Kosta Coandă and a Flight Lieutenant in the Air Force. More importantly, he was, as the press were declaring, the first Polongain Officer to return from the Novigrad Bombardment Campaign and perhaps the start of a full withdrawal of Imperial Forces from Estovakia.

Former Empress Alanna and her husband, former Emperor Francis II stood together in front of a group of Red Cross members, of which Alanna was President of the National Red Cross. Everyone fell silent as the 82 year old woman spoke.

“The world for years has been a dangerous place. The interest of the individual with power often times does not line up with the interests of the people. I tell you now that the way of the world must change. Universal humanitarianism is essential to solve global problems. Compassion is the pillar of world peace. All world religions are already for world peace in this way, as are all humanitarians of whatever ideology and Each individual has a universal responsibility to shape institutions to serve human needs. Of the many problems we face today, some are natural calamities and must be accepted and faced with equanimity. Others, however, are of our own making, created by misunderstanding, and can be corrected. Many in our world do so for political reasons, such as the campaign in Estovakia, when people fight each other for petty ends, losing sight of the basic humanity that binds us all together as a single human family.

One nation's problems can no longer be satisfactorily solved by itself alone; too much depends on the interest, attitude, and cooperation of other nations. A universal humanitarian approach to world problems seems the only sound basis for world peace. What does this mean? We begin from the recognition mentioned previously that all beings cherish happiness and do not want suffering. It then becomes both morally wrong and pragmatically unwise to pursue only one's own happiness oblivious to the feelings and aspirations of all others who surround us as members of the same human family. The wiser course is to think of others also when pursuing our own happiness. This will lead to what I call 'wise self-interest', which hopefully will transform itself into 'compromised self-interest', or better still, 'mutual interest'.

Although the increasing interdependence among nations might be expected to generate more sympathetic cooperation, it is difficult to achieve a spirit of genuine cooperation as long as people remain indifferent to the feelings and happiness of others. When people are motivated mostly by greed and jealousy, it is not possible for them to live in harmony. A spiritual approach may not solve all the political problems that have been caused by the existing self-centered approach, but in the long run it will overcome the very basis of the problems that we face today.

Together we must stand together and help one another. One must not threaten war or look to destroy those we disagree with. Instead we should stand together as a united front to improve the lives of all people regardless of nationality. May the world unite to lead us into a new age of compassion and peace.”

With that, former Empress Alanna declared the formation of a peacekeeping force to go into Estovakia to provide humanitarian aid led by Mother Nikoletta Szóke and the former empress’s grandson, Archduke Leopold, who hand two years ago lead a humanitarian effort in Weco.

Bledapestra, Polonge

Nickolaus von Hopfer stepped into Sándorpalota tired. The Empress and her family had left for Amsterdam, ruled by the crown prince’s aunt, Anna Charlotte. Hopfer has just back from frying the Minister of Defense and replacing him with Freiherr Ludwig von Auer-Reinhardt. Now he needed to speak with President Joshua Swanner. He sighed as he called the president up.

Less than ten minutes after departure from the ISV Kashima the ODST pods were visible as the paint on SOIEV was being burnt away from reentry, this signature look gave the ODSTs their unique name the Helljumpers. Shorty thereafter the pods made contact with the surface, and as soon as they landed the ODSTs jumped out of the pods. Lieutenant Stoltenberg of the ODST Platoon sent out to Kislau ordered his Shock troopers to locate the commanding officer of the 3rd army, while Lieutenant Stolmeijer ordered his Shock troopers to immediate fight their way towards the Presidential Palace.

Stolmeijer chuckled as he upon the Presidential Palace "Mae doesn't disappoint now does she? Move out boys, Intelligence Corps has the Polongians zeroing in on Novigrad. Best we have Oslo bagged and ready for evac before they reach the Palace."

The Novigrad Platoon raced towards the Palace, gunning down any resistance that stood in there way indiscriminately, wherever the ODSTs stepped they left in their path utter devastation. When they reached the Presidential Palace, the ODSTs meeting heavy resistance from Estonian Soldiers, pulled the pin on their plasma grenades chucking them towards them. As they grenade detonated it left behind serious plasma burns, the ODSTs preceded to gun down the survivors from their they continued to push their way deeper into the Palace, executing anything in their path. As they reached the door to the office of Generalissmo Oslo, the ODSTs cracked the door open before chucking in a flashbang. As soon as they did they polarised their visors bursting into the room gunning down the stunned guards. Lieutenant Stolmejier withdrew his pistol aimed at the General's head.
"General you will be coming with us."

The Lieutenant nodded towards another shock trooper who preceded to handcuff the General, as he did that Stolmeijer got on the Atmoran Forces Comms
"We have the General, I repeat we have the General, we're requiring immediate evac."

Responding to their request was the Kashima's AI construct Mae
"Affirmative Lieutenant, a Pelican is already on it's way. Prepare for immediate evac, hold out until then."

March 23, 2078

General Bakos Mihály marched into the capital city of Estovakia, the city of Novigrad today with the fast moving and mighty force of the Fifth Imperial Army and the 5th Imre Division under Commodore Aloysius Hérouz. The capture of the city has been hailed as the great achievements of the empire, seeing that they are powerful enough to quickly capture a foreign capital and protect its borders from the dangers of others and stabilize the region.

Nearly 120,000 troops marched through the ruins of the bombarded city.

Polongains were meet with mediocre resistance, the vast majority of the Estovakian defenses having be destroyed in the interest aerial bombardment of the city by Polongain Air Force. Despite the relatively weak resistance that was put up against the Imperial Army, there has reportedly been a very high number of Estovakian causalities.

Reports are unclear as to the number of deaths, but there are reports as far as up to 2,300, most in civilian lives lost.

Polongain Imperial troops, arriving from both the lake and from through the carnage of the city attacked the headquarters of Oslo lead Junta. Forces quickly destroyed much of the Junta Headquarters and searched the government buildings, finding most of them abandoned. It appears that the Oslo government has been captured by their allies and were taken from the city shortly before the arrival of the Fifth Imperial Army.

General Mihály Meanwhile as declared that the fall of Novigrad and Kyle Oslo, that the mission in Estovakia has been accomplished.

General Bakos Mihály has announced that he has forcefully removed Oslo from office and has accepted the position of Interregnum President of Estovakia at the urging of foreign powers for the sake of stability. Mihály has declared martial law throughout Estovakia with roughly half of the country under Polongain Imperial Armed Forces control. He has demanded that the rest of the nation’s generals surrender and that the F.E.A stand down so that talks can begin. Bakos Mihály has assured the world that he will lead Estovakia through strength and might with the consent of the people, but only until a new government can be born through compromise and peace.

D67-TC Pelican

As the Pelican lifted off and speeded towards Karelian Islands an island archipelago apart of the Kingdom of Leuven a federal state of Atmora, off the coast of Derita. As the Pelican cruised through sky, the Lieutenant removed his helmet, one of his soldiers walked up to him "Sir, what exactly is going to happen to this bloke when we reached Karelia?"

"Officially the General will be 'detained' in Atmora, unofficially we've received orders from High Command that an Iravian Delegation will be waiting for us at the base to pick him up."

While some of the shock troopers may have disagreements with High Command's decision, they didn't voice it, orders were orders and they'd do as told.

After completely ignoring the North Timerian ultimatum President Reeves sent the order to the Carrier Strike Group Izanami. They had been ordered to attack Polongain targets occupying Western Estovakia. The Polongain forces had marched on Novigrad and were now occupying the city despite the order to pull back. The fleet had selected a number of bases and command post in the west and targets occupying Novigrad. At 2200 the fleet launched a volley of over 100 cruise missiles armed with conventional and airburst warheads. The NTS Veronica and NTS Faith increased patrols around the strike group to ensure security as they continued to move to their rendezvous with Task Force 13.

Along with the strike a Marine MEU was deployed to assist rebels in the East. The MEU docked in the south where the rebels held a large swath of land perfect for a safe landing. With the airport in Svittivka secures the Marine F-69s flew in and based themselves there to help the rebels. With F-69s on the ground, the air forces continued to fly in supplies which now included advanced weaponry and SAM launchers to bolster the rebels defenses. With this new equipment and the Oslo regime in shambles, the rebels moved on Bytvo with North Timerian support. The rebels were now securing a stable front without much of a fight from former government troops.

With things getting worse in Estovakia the North Timerian Home Fleet moved into low earth orbit while defense stations were on full alert. Unknowing to most President Reeves has ordered North Timerian Marines in orbit to standby in case of emergency deployments. On board, the NORIA Ryuu AI Will was calculating battle plans to defend North Timerian forces in the battle sphere. The Manta IIs continued to patrol space looking for threats before they could target the fleet.

Novigrad, Occupied Estovakia
March 24, 2078

With victory in Novigrad, President Mihály ordered the occupation of the rest of the country, sending General Lakatos to capture the city of Sabivé and move into the eastern part of the country, marked no longer as soldiers but as “Imperial Peacekeepers”. Meanwhile he had General Coandă protect humanitarian efforts in the western half of the country as Mother Szóke and Archduke Leopold and their fellow volunteers worked to help the refugees and displaced civilians in the wake of Vasa Géza’s devastation.

Meanwhile, Bakos Mihály ordered a judge to swear him in as President of Estovakia live whilst it was broadcasted to the world.

He stood inside the safety of the Eródvar outside of the capital city as the North Timerians attacked.

“Please raise your right hand and repeat after me.” Judge Wynn said. Mihály did so and spoke after he had listened to the judge.

“I, Bakos Mihály, solemnly affirm that I will truly and diligently serve the people and the Republic of Estovakia in the office of the Acting President of the Republic of Estovakia; that I will diligently discharge my duties and perform my functions in the Office of Acting President of the Republic of Estovakia; and I will do justice to all in accordance with this Constitution, as by law established, and the laws of Estovakia, without fear, favour, affection or ill-will–– So help me God.”

Shortly afterwards, Mihály sent a message to President Reeves and the F.E.A, beseeching them to join him in establishing a new constitution and a new stable democracy for Estovakia with a project he called the Reconstruction of Estovakia.

Office of the Prime Minister of the Dutch-Empire
Prime Minister George Asbury

“President Reeves, President Mihály and Prime Minister Hopfer, I beseech you. A cease fire must be called. The blatant attack in civilians and humanitarian assistance is uncalled for on both sides. The reports that suggest war criminal like activities by Vasa Géza and the attacks on Western Estovakia, ignoring the new humanitarian projects that have been set up there and the refusal to negotiate is a criminal act on the part of North Timeria and an act of war. On behalf of Her Majesty’s Government, I firmly seek for a cease-fire between all combatants in the Estovakian Conflict. We call for the withdrawal of the Polongain soldiers, the disarmament of the FEA and the ceasing of all military actions by all parties for a week to allow peaceful diplomatic talks to take place.

Victor Voychek had received the message from the Polongain occupiers and held a meeting with his top officers and Agent Locus.

"We have a chance to establish a new government...It's not what I was looking to accomplish but I wish to hear your opinions before I make a decision." Voychek passed the letter around the table for them to look at.

"These are the same people that invaded our lands and killed our people...and now they expected us to work with them. Every Estovakian across the country should stand with us to fight for a truly free Estovakia." Ilya Pasternak was a strong voice in the FEA and supported democracy over anything else. "We should hold a referendum and the people will decide but I know how they will vote. More fighting is sure to come; for true freedom."

Across rebel-held territory, voting stations were being set up to hold a referendum on what to do about the proposal.

Imperial Sol Fleet
24 March 2078

Admiral Jellicoe ordered the Imperial Sol Fleet to descend to low orbit and confront the Timerian Home Fleet. If the Timerians wish for war, Jellicoe will give it to them. Along with further orders sent out to the Outer Sol Fleet to blockade any Timerian civilian ship or warship from passing the asteroid belt. Further orders were given for the ISV Kongō an Empress Katherine II-class battleship to put pressure on the Timerian Home Fleet. Charlotte Jellicoe as issued a warning to the Timerian Home Fleet, that any action that can be deemed as hostile will deemed as an act of war, and accordingly the Terran detachment of the Sol Fleet will engage and eliminate the Timerian Home Fleet without regards for it’s crewmen.

Katherine II has demanded that Reeves cease his hostile actions and solve this crisis by the pen and not by the sword. Claiming that Reeves is a hypocrite, while his actions are noble to save and avenge lives, what he’s doing will cause mass suffering. Stating that the Atmorans don’t wish for war, they wish for peace, but if Reeves continues, the lives lost by this unnecessary war will be on him, not anyone else. The Governments of Atmora and Polonge are more than happy to sit down with Reeves to end hostilities.

Following the referendum, the FEA has decided to continue their fight for freedom and establishing a free Estovakian government formed by the Estovakian people. 71% voting in favor of continuing the revolution to free all of Estovakia. Mostly due to the increasing support for Voychek and atrocities committed in the West. With this statement, the FEA has declared independence and claims on the entire Estovakian homeland. Voychek gave a speech to the people of Svittivka as he called for peace.

"We will not accept less than what we deserve and lay down because they asked us. We will continue to fight and promote a free Estovakia. Polonge has no right to be in Estovakia and we will ensure they know how we feel." Holding up the message from Mihály, Voychek briefly went to the back and returned to the stage. Holding up the message in gloved hands he had smeared dog feces all over it. He promptly held it up high for all to see and packed it into an envelope to be sent back to the capital. "Give me liberty or give me death!"

In Bytvo protested raged across the streets overwhelming the remaining force there and freed a path for the FEA to march in. There they regrouped with other FEA forces to unite the East as one front.

Sabivé, West Estovakia
March 25, 2078

With the fall of Oslo, the rise of Mihály in the west and Voychek in the east, the nation was beginning to splinter. In West Estovakia, directed by President Mihály and Mother Szóke an emergency referendum was held in response to the future of the nation.

The result was, to say the least, very mixed. The people of West Estovakia, with many dragged through chaos by the war, were quick to voice their many opinions.

In the end, 96.7% of people in West Estovakia agreed that Estovakia should be reunited with the east. However, 95% said that they refused to serve under or with Voychek and the FEA. The reasoning behind this? Many in West Estovakia were blaming the FEA for the war in the first place. Fear of their radicalism and terrorist connections have left the majority in the west to have little faith in the so-called Free Estovakian Army. They were the ones who had started this, many complained, why would they let them be in charge.

From the referendum it was also discovered that 68.11% approved of President Mihály leading the nation until a more stable government can be formed, without the FEA.

54% of people in West Estovakia meanwhile supported the Polongain occupation, on the condition that it was only temporary, seeing it has protection against the instability of the FEA.

In Sabivé, concerned a haven by West Estovakia as fortifications began being built just several miles east of the lakeside city, cutting the country in half, West Estovakian leaders, many former lower members of Oslo’s government were taking hold. Leading them was Judge Cameron Wynn, who had inaugurated Mihály.

Judge Wynn:

“The FEA are radicals. A fiery and angry majority. They are taking advantage of protests against a violent and oppressive government to push forward their own far flung opinions, terrorist nature and philosophy of violence. The FEA claims to fight for liberty, but they do not know anything other than violence. Peace is the answer, not more fighting. They can not last. And the true people of the true Republic will never stand with them until they change for the greater good of Estovakia.”

Presidential Office

Joshua Swanner had just finished signing a bill into law when his phone rang. He glanced at the panel before quickly turning to the group assembled.

"Ladies and gentlemen, thanks so much for your hard work on this. I've been told we have a reception a couple floors down - if you'll please follow Senator Jacobs down, I'll rejoin you in just a couple minutes. Again, thank you."

The assembled delegation, comprised of Congresspeople, advisors, and lawyers, filed out as asked. Swanner took a second to compose himself and ready some notes at his table before he picked up the phone.

"Prime Minister Hopfer, good to speak with you. I was pleased to see how you handled the ... sticky situation with General Géza. It's good to know that such actions will not be tolerated in Polonge. I wanted to take this time to talk with you about the future for Estovakia. As you well know, Estovakia is rather close to the United States and its obviously in our interests to make sure there is a stable government in place. Can you fill me in on your plans for the future in Estovakia?"

Bledapestra, Polonge

Prime Minister Hopfer nodded as he listened to President Swanner. Swanner has been in office almost as long as Hopfer had been alive, and Swanner had always retained a degree of respect from the old monarchies than his predecessors and contemporaries.

“President Swanner, it is a way leaders to speak with you. I know that the situation may appear precarious, but I am sure that it seems worse than it truly is. Vasa Géza’s actions are of the most serious in nature and Kosta Coandă is investigating the issue as we speak. I can personally assure you and the world that such atrocities will not be allowed by Polonge. As for our plans for Estovakia, under President Mihály, we hope to make both Estovakia a greater place and the world. A miracle must happen there, both politically and economically. Mihály’s plan includes a four year long reconstruction of the nation’s infrastructure and economic input, projects to increase productivity and most importantly, to establish a nation of true democracy. One that will not tolerate radicalism, tyranny by the army or a minority nor one that deals with terrorists or engages in terrorism. It is hoped that by next year a new legislature can be established by the vote of the people in Estovakia and by 2082, Mihály will be stepping down at the latest to pave the way for a new government. Mother Szóke and Archduke Leopold will be leading projects to re-educate the people of Estovakia and establish a healthier more pacifistic lifestyle to be common place. With great work and effort, we can make Estovakia and the world a better place.”
