It was around four in the morning, but the emperor, Ancry Abel, of the House Fabler-Castell, needed not to wake up unnecessarily way too early in the morning, he was an emperor after all, he woke up whenever he damn pleased, and so the emperor, who was around in his late forties, slumbered on, not to wake up until his body desires it. Poor old man would be visited by a nightmare though, or more like a vision with spooky droning noises in the background, a pretty droll nightmare if you think about it, but a bit scary nonetheless.

He saw many different things, one of them being entire universes going gray then rotting for all eternity as those gods that manipulated them began to lose interest in them and instead began focusing on other universes. Prezydent Nickolas Whitt would rub his head, as the parliament was arguing about the creation of the Żołnierz ludowy, the Monarchists yelled very loudly about how they should control who could fight for the Nation. The Left Union, on the other hand said that it was a step for more rights to the people. Nickolas, being the Leftist candidate that won, he agreed with the leftists and dismissed Parliament so he could call up the military leaders to form the People's militia. He knew that some people wanted the king back, so he was under guard all the time while out of the President's office.

[Free-Don]

Marina Yurlova, the ata-Hete (leader of the leading councilmen), stepped out of her work chamber was the afternoon sun broke out of the ceiling skylight. She had spent the previous two nights in the nearly ancient governing halls that were only updated from their sandstone and clay construction with a layer of plaster and wood flooring. As her eyes adjusted to the light she exited to the nearest balcony. Before her laid the city, the people, and the nation she had sworn to protect and whom she constantly strives to serve.

A series of ancient and modern adobe multi-story homes and complex communities. Many dozens of stone fire walls and seige walls criss-crossing the city telling tales of sieges and wars of a years before, exposed flood canals and hidden underground piping and sewage were fairly recent additions, and now a system of trains of both steam and a few sporting an extra stirling engine system. The local markets and larger bazaars were lively throughout the day with many farmers and traders fueled by the slowly developing system of railways. This was the peace and balance her work helped secure and in only twenty years of peace so much seemed to have been accomplished.

But Marina was still disturbed, a feeling of unease that had followed her from the morning before arose once again. One that seemed to call from the nearby streams and rivers that spiritually enchanted the mind of one from the Don. It was as if now was just the beginning of something more was about to begin. While she didn't push it away she left homeward bound.

Captain Sun Yshin commanded as he made a low apporached through the woods, calling out a new marine trying to work around a bush for a imaginary firing position as the rest of his section formed a small unit firing line on a wooded ridge. The marine moved forward towards the ridge making sure to keep within Sun's mandatory spacing requirements of 2 meters.

"You might like the hard shit when you start getting fired at." Sun commented as he checked his watch.

"Aye, Sir." The marine responded somewhat cautiously.

Feeling satisfied with the time Sun moved to a crouched stance and readied a smoke bomb and whistle. Blasting the sharp and shrill noise across the woods before tossing his bomb forward that would start the battery of projectiless charges of smaller cannons, guns, and pieces. A few lower power weapons launching small smoke charges across the small field as several dozen marines and infantry men charged up out of the wood work towards a small loosely fortified hill and trench line. The firing only stopping when the infantry had come to close with the line.

Still somewhat disgruntled at the sounds of jubilee that erupted as the two mock armies finally came to clash. Sun understood why they didn't feel like they could take the situation very serious. Who could take in full seriousness this exercise after it had come to the brawl. With men rolling around tussling in the heat of day. Still it fun that couldn't be left unpunished.

[Streuburg]

Grand Parliament, House of Commons, Kloyding, Capitol of Streuburg

King Bonifaz III walked down the the center rugged walkway, MPs and Senators clapping and cheering him along the way. As Bonifaz strode down the large chamber, he saw a few cameras, surely preparing to photograph the historic moment. As he walked to the toward to center and stood at the Speaker's podium, Bonifaz shook hands with first Chancellor Nika Heinrich. The Chancellor is a position with is elected in a national election. The Chancellor served kind of like the second Head of State, and when the King is incapacitated and a coronation isn't held yet, the Chancellor would act like the nation's sovereign. When he isn't doing that, the Chancellir would act as like the Speaker of the House of Commons. With Chancellor Heinrich on his left, The President Pro Tempore Of the Senate Manfred Lieberman, and Bonifaz shook his hand too. After the audience called down, King Bonifaz III began his speech.

Ladies and Gentleman, Members of Parliament, Senators, Mr. Chancellor, and Mr. President Pro Tempore. To all the nations and empires of the world, and finally to all people who will read this in print tomorrow, next week, or a 100 years in the record books. The Republic of West Yemen was conquered by Kristopher the United, the first emperor of the great Streuburgan Empire, in 1524. Now, on January 2nd, 1870, almost 350 years later, we will conquer what is ours again! this causes a great cheer from the crowd and a couple of pictures. When I convened this great parliament today, I came here with a goal. A goal to restore the Empire of our forefathers. A goal, to once again have absolute sea supremacy over the Pacif region. A goal, to once again to raise Streuburg to a position of global might and influence on every nation of the world. Velnam Narkam, saviour of the people and leader of the Communist Party of Kikonos approached the podium. It was the 19th anniversary of independence, and thousands of people from all over the country attended.

The people of Kikonos are tasting prolific rights and are free from virtually all forms of oppression. The proletarians and middle class from all corners of the world must rise up against dictatorial rule! If not, the world will recede into dark slumber as it already is. The world has no need for kings or emperors any longer! The people demand freedom and democracy and they must be given it! The citizens of Kikonos have no wish to go back to a life of oppression under autocratic rule and will bravely defend our country, no matter what the cost. As the Kingdom of Streuburg is giving us no choice, the Democratic Republic of Kikonos, by popular vote, has decided to declare war. We hope not to remain in war and will try our hardest to resolve this issue diplomatically".

The prime minister then called a meeting of his newfound council of war, where they debated what to do. "In the hopes that the Kingdom of Streuburg comes to his senses soon, I think it best to send no more than 7,000 infantrymen to the Eastern border between West Yemen and Kedrich." declared Minister of War Henrich Chandar. All other war ministers were in agreement.

2 days later, a detachment of 7,000 soldiers under General Djamun Lans arrived at the West Yemen-Kedrich border waiting for the Streuburgian invasion force to arrive.

Red Flags with the hammer and sickle with the numbers 8 and 1 were flying in the city of Qingqiu. This was the glorious capital of the People's republic of Strala. The square of the city was crowded with people. It was the 16 anniversary of the glorious revolution, and every year there would be a military parade, and this year it wouldn't be an expectancy. It was, however, later than normal since the bad weather that struck them. The Imperial army was now renamed as The Stralian Peasants' and Workers' army. The officers were now chosen from officers that have experience instead of nobles that pay the military from entering the military. The Chairman of the Peasants' and Workers' party is Yan Yating.

The army was marching down in rows in street. They were dressed in the new grey uniform and the army was given new weapons. Every soldier was now equipped with either a rifle or a rifled musket. Every officer was given a revolver and a rifle. The experienced shock troops were given repeating rifles and a sword that was created to kill. Next came up with the cavalry that rode down in a wedge formation. The cavalry was given 15ft spears and a carbine and instead of the nobility made up most of the ranks instead they were formed out of peasants that were trained and veterans that fought for years. Following them were the artillery and the new chainguns. Some of the smaller ones were fitted on carriages that held 5 but they required a team of 10 horses.

When the parade finally ended the chairman gave his speech "Greetings comrades and friends. Our glorious revolution has lasted for 16 years and we hope that this will last for another 1,000 years. We were one of the first nations to throw away our chains and raise up against the rich. While we are no longer controlled by an Emperor, other nations are not that lucky. Their people work for hours without much pay, and the ruler doesn't work and yet still live well. Their people are starving and live on the street, yet they live in palaces and eating food without a care. They will throw away food with a care in the world. What makes them so much more important. Is it not the people that give them their power? Were their ancestors a commoner that had to work hard to earn that wealth? What would they think? Seeing the attack on a nation they asked if they could help, the Union of Eastern Europe Declines, a force of 5,000 regulars, 1,000 Grenadiers, and 200 royal guard would be sent to the border, with the support of 200 guns. They would start to build defenses, and would introduce a requirement for Military Service, or in a Militia, 10 militias, totaling 15,000 would organize with only Muskets and some rifles. They would send 6,000 Militiamen to the border to assist. Meanwhile, in a forgery they start to work on Metal helmets for soldiers, the first example looking like this, 500 Soldiers deployed on Strala's border would be equipped with the helmets, and trails would start with making a standard helmet for all soldiers. They would also start developing larger Canons that could break down fort's walls with only 3 shells. Strala would be sent a Ultimatum, stop the attacks, or Eastern Europe would launch a offensive.

The Workers' and Peasants' army were given the go-ahead for the attack. If The Union didn't want to cooperate than it, must face its consequences. They wouldn't wait and let the enemy gain strength and it was also the perfect time to experiment with their experimental weapons. The 30 thousand men and 400 artillery pieces plus the 40 carriage gatling guns were put in the front. The 10 or so Steampowered ironclads that the navy boasts would also be here. The rest would be steampowered warships that were made of wood. The Airforce was also be entering its first engagement. The air balloons filled with bombs and machine guns would be sent to the borders.

At the dead of night, they struck. The army silently moved across the border and waited for the enemy's reactions. They would see how they would respond since they outnumbered the enemy and no doubt, that there wouldn't be any reinforcements for miles. When ready they signaled the artillery to open fire. The night sky was lit with flames and fire. The Artillery bombardment lasted for three hours, and then it was silent. The infantry and cavalry slowly crept up to the enemy emplacement

The canons that where already at the border would light up, firing at anything that wasn't in a Eastern European uniform, and the 5,000 Infantry that was stationed there would launch a attack, Captain Harry Pilsudski would attack from the left with 500 Regulars, and Colonial Harri novyny lyudʹmy would attack with 500 regulars, and 500 Militia on the right flank. When the 12,200 reinforcements arrived, they would make a push on the line from all sides, Captain Harry Pilsudski would unleash 20 Gatling guns on the advancing workers and peasants army, slaughtering two platoons in the matter of minutes.

They would hold the line with heavy casualties, and they would start to reinforce the line with more Militia from Donetsk.

War and official casualty estimates have become known and widespread in the Don. Many believed and await war to be declared. Despite the number of dead extending into the thousands the public cry for "a quiet little war" seemed to ring loudly among the population. Many fueled by anger and discontentment by the many having been slaves and refugees from Europe and Streuburg in particular. The upper echelons of Don politics while mostly forged from middle and upper middle classes, often through military service, they instead have come to prefer and wish to preserve the current status of politics.

This has created a growing disparity between those currently in power and those that may one day gain such power has been sparked due to the new fluctuating politics. The relations between outsiders having been so isolated only sparks the perception of stereotypes against oligarchies and monarchs. But as the Don is a and always has been guided and govern by tribes, the Councils of War and the Councils of clans obeyed the will of the people to at least a limited extent.

Operation All Seeing Watchmen, was put into effect. Mobilizing border provinces for full combat readiness, the development of air and ground telecommunication lanes, expansion of regular railways to reach more outlying villages, training and coordination with trains and waterborne troops, demobilization of railways guns, the formation of train-based strike and assault troops, and the development of small armored trains.

A half a company made up mostly of the local provincial garrison was placed on the south-east most split peninsula to watch the coast and entrance to the shared bay with Europe. Aiming their older guns towards both outgoing and coming ships. With a extra attached 20cm railway gun to shoot down larger ships. The rest of the company remained in the outlying cities and towns poised for a tactical counter or observation patrols along the bay.

A full company of cavalry and a light infantry company were sent to the east most border just north of the bay itself to perform on going patrols and reconnaissance of Europe's military activities.

Three companies of mostly nonuniform garrisons were sent to assist regular provincial and local garrisons and fortifications in the region. With regular patrols directly on the border line in order to observe and report any official actions by the Streuburgs in the most south-western regions. The north was still awaiting a response but in time would begin the process of arranging adequate rail lines and the personal development of at least two armored trains.

As the border town of Hessemval is shelled by Streuburgian imperialists, hundreds of civilians are killed, however, most were evacuated by a relief force. 800 soldiers are killed and another 1,700 injured. The Streuburgian army is able to penetrate and surround Kikonosian forces, however the Kikonosians bravely hold their position until a relief force under Landat Balanonius arrives. The relief force is met by large numbers of Streuburgian cavalry and infantry, however they are forced to hold a position just west of the Kikonos-Streuburg border. Meanwhile, and additional 3,000 infantry, 500 cavaly, and 50 guns are sent to the battlefields to support the Kikonosian Defence Forces.

Johann Rieskant would look over the tall mountains, the "Urase" as the indigenous people had called them before the settlers came. Éir's parliament and senate were fixated on one of the Urase, which was symbolical for the autark peoples of these savage lands. Most Éirans decided to stick to themselves, blocking others out and only cooperating with their neighbors and the people around them. This was alright. His party, the Nasionale Party Éire, the NPE, advocated little to no government influence, with a free market and isolationism. The opposition, headed by the Sociaale Aarbeiders Party, called for worker's rights and government influence. Recent polls stated that the SAP was losing voters, and that the conservative NPE could win in the elections of 1871.

Parliament was deciding on whether they'd enable a trade deal with other nations, one that would make transport of goods easier. This seemed as an OK proposal, aside from the fact that it encouraged immigration and made it easier for foreigners to slip in. This was not going to be an easy bill, and Rieskant's conservative party wasn't sure about who to back.

Aside from foreign trade, what about foreign aid? There had been some countries fighting one another, but quite far from Éir as a country. Rieskant was thinking about helping Streuburg, seeing that most of Éir's population was partially from the authoritarian state. He wasn't sure about what to do. Maybe instead of pushing money into foreign countries, and perhaps choosing the wrong side, could Éire not expand into those lands in the east? Scientists working in Pacif found out about some resources in the barren wasteland. The government could try to invest into it, and perhaps it could make the country very rich. Rieskant thought and thought, but couldn't decide on anything yet.

In a speech half an hour later, Rieskant, president of the Free state of Éir, announced that his coalition government of the Nasionale Party Éire, and the Demokrat-liberale Party would look into synthetic experiments in Pacif to increase the governmental budget, as well as send "specialists", including scientists and the military to Pacif to stabilise the situation to find out more about the substances in the ground. He also wished the best of luck to the people of Streuburg in the conflict overseas, but announced that his government could not step in because of "logistical difficulties".

There'd be a vote on the trade deal on the 20th of January.

The Republic of Kikonos having publicly and openly accepted foreign aid was seen a great news in the Don. Almost immediately proposals for a massed ground attack against Streuburg were made, proposals for capturing of port cities in the north were submitted, and nothing was approved. Instead the Ata-Hete Council of Hosts called upon a enclosed council between the hosts, tribes, and state/provincial leaders. Effectively leaving most of the War Hosts and military leaders out of the planning. In turn this would mark the operation as of it's current structure as a humanitarian mission with armed escorts.

By the time discussions had ended the formation of a flotilla of four ships was selected. With the fairly recently converted hospital ship, built off of a partially armored ship-of-the-line, acting as the lead flagship. Two extra cargo ships based on the train standard cargo containers were attached to carry extra medical supplies and training equipment. Along with these was a security detail of shallow water river and coastal patrol craft were sent around the southern peninsula, bound for Kikonos' southern ports.

Captain Sun Yshin and the Heavy Mariners Battalion Cech were sent as the on the ground and on ship protection. Lightly equipped primarily with service carbines and single shots. Without much in the way of extra auxiliary arms beyond grenades and light grenade launching systems primarily at the platoon level.

Incumbent Chancellor Garret "Gary" Grettlemore, stood adressing a crowd of 1,000 at the Lansi City's Government Plaza. The nation was in the midst of an election for the position of the Chancellery. Grettlemore's political party, United Santiland (the Liberal party), stood at its strongest position since its founding in 1834. Grettlemore and United Santiland promoted the groundwork for a universal, single-payer healthcare system, an expanded military and internationalism.

"We need a universal healthcare system to ensure that all Santilandishes have access to quality, affordable healthcare. This is a basic need for our nation's citizens," Chancellor Grettlemore said in that same rally.

Another party vying for control of the Chancellery was the Conservative Party led my former Governor of New Britain Carl Brown who calls universal healthcare an "invasion of Marx's dreaded ideas that will never take root". He also believes in expanding the Santilandish military and supports deploying it in Saltasia to keep the peace. Unlike Grettlemore, Brown wants Santiland to steer clear of world affairs to "preserve Santilandish sovereignty.

Who knows what the future will hold for the young nation with diverse candidates for its leadership and the many paths the nation can go down?
