Ad-Hoc flag used by prominent Ordenite minorities in foreign countries.

Ol'khovka, Reichskommissariat Westen,
February 2030.

The former capitol city of what was once a independent nation that had been aligned with the Ordenite Reich in it's endeavors against the now capitulated Unified Eastern Star Soviets had gone through several changes since the seizure of power by the Ordenite Heer of the Capitol and essentially the whole fabric of the Krasnovan Republic. Flags of the Ordenite Reich flew over the city now and were present in most if not all public areas within the city which was filled with Soviet style architecture and urban planning that was left behind from a now begotten past, with apartment blocks dominating the landscape. A new dawn had arrived and it was now that the citizens of the forming General Governorate of Krasnova would again come under occupation by the jackboots of the Reich. In it's wake was the coming to light of the Ordenite minorities that had inhabited the island for several generations and had too seen the constant struggle and despotism forced upon them by the Soviets until of course came the Reich, the fatherland that had come to give them salvation. Salvation was what they got in 2025/2026 when they had come the first time, liberating them from their oppressors and being able to be one again with their people. The population of the Krasnovan-Ordenite minority typically fluxed through-out history since the 18th century. Originally, 50 million Ordenite settlers who at the time of the beginning of the Tsardom of Krasnova left the fatherland to Krasnova in search of better opportunities. When the Tsardom fell to the bolshevik revolutionaries in the early 19th century, the forming Soviet government deported over 15 million to various gulags and or to far eastern reaches of the island for resettlement purposes. These deportees would live harshly under the whip of the Soviet as they were brutally worked to death, with an average of 35,000 dying annually in a 10 year period.

Only a portion of them were able to escape the island with a small exodus of over 10 million Ordenite refugees going to countries such as Greal, Stevid, TGT and the Reich its self. The rest had to adapt to the Soviet regime, with the 1st Union Soviet Socialist Congress session passing laws that forced Ordenite citizens living in the Union to learn the official language of the country, which many did. As time went on a portion of the minority had made a living under the Soviet regime and were working for the Soviet government in some form or other. This would change in late 2025 with the first Ordenite invasion of the 'Red Star Union' as the country was formally called in the international community, by 2026 the island besides the Zvezdan penninsula was under the control of the Ordenite Reich. This would be their first taste of freedom as the coming civil administration for the occupied island were mainly filled with prominent Ordenite community leaders who believed in the ideology and would come out as Party members of the National Socialists. In this time up until the beginning of the 2nd Krasnovan War in mid-2027, over 5 million Ordenite-Krasnovans were resettled in the western-half of the country where it had been originally planned for formal annexation of the territory into the Reich. However the war would bring that to an end as the war effort took over and the consequential loss of the eastern half of the island to a coalition of nations poised to challenge Ordenite superiority in Krasnova had pushed it back past Chernaya before a actual border had been realized. Those unfortunate enough to still reside in the east where the UESS had re-liberated would again see a similar fate to those a generation ago, with many being sent to gulags or being killed out right for being collaborators with the Ordenites and the Kendrov regime. Those in the Krasnovan Republic were able to live normal lives as they did before and with the ones having lived in the Tuktar area now being subjected to the Commonwealth of Morrdh.

The Third Krasnovan War brought hope to many living in the West and the East as their brethren in the Fatherland had come once again, as if they had not been forgotten at all. As the Ordenites and Krasnovans moved east through occupied territory under the UESS, liberating hundreds of communities and larger cities too. Thousands of Ethnic Ordenites who were technically Krasnovan became some of the first to mobilize and offer their service to the Ordenite Heer as the campaign carried on, 130,000 Ethnic Ordenites were folded into what is now being called the 'Volksdeutscher Selbstschutz' or Selbstschutz Battalions. These battalions were paramilitary in nature and had been raised due to the overall lack in faith many Reich officials and military leaders had in the native Krasnovan, in regards to becoming one with their occupiers. Disputes between prominent members of the SS and the Party had been had on what was to become of the Krasnovan and Zvezdan people, and how doctrine would go for dealing with them as subjects of the Greater Ordenite Reich. A portion of the Party wanted the natives to see the Reich as liberators from communist oppression and capitalist trickery. However the SS pointed at the past and that the only solution was to keep a iron fist upon the population as they could simply not be trusted, as they were of inferior stock and inferior blood. When Ordenite troops had successfully occupied the Zvezdan penninsula, Grossmann himself had put out a official decree on the stance of the Reich in carrying out occupation duties and the future of what was to become of Krasnova. In short he ultimately sided with the Ordenite SS, despite the fact that only a month into the occupation of the island.

Reichskommissariat Osten had reported over 100 different cases of insurgent activity with the same being said by Reichskommissariat Zvezda. The Oberkommando des Heeres which had an office of it's own in Ol'khovka had already began the deployment of Waffen-SS divisions along with Selbstschutz battalions for counter-insurgency and for political motives on behalf of the Party. The General Governor had already convened with his Reich-commissioners on problems that they were already facing in the first month. Insurgent activity was already being noted as high in the eastern half of the island and that they would need to be dealt with before they could effectively challenge Ordenite superiority. The next major problem would be how to go about cleaning up the aftermath of the nuclear detonation in New Impen which brought about the surrender of the Unified Eastern Star Soviets, more so because it's citizens chose occupation over the Politburo who notably didn't care if it had to wipe out it's citizens with nuclear weapons. De-communisation was also a topic that was discussed and with advisement coming from the Reichsmarshall-SS who was sent to represent the will of the Reichsfuhrer in the General Governorate, a general plan was made that would begin the seizure of all collective farms in former UESS territory along with the disbandment of the labor unions. The demobilization of what remained of the Union Red Army in which over 3 million stood down and ceased all combat operations when the surrender was deemed official.

Kokshlovo, Reichskommissariat Osten,
February 2030.

Recovery was still a long ways away for the city of Kokshlovo which had been liberated only 4 months prior to the fall of the Unified Eastern Star Soviets. The Ordenite Army had already occupied the former barracks and bases that had been ridden or abandoned by the Red Army and were claiming them for themselves for the time being. It was now more common to see Ordenite soldiers on the streets than it was ever before as the city was under military occupation for who knew how long and the populace didn't seem to care for now. A small Krasnovan Army garrison was now also present within the city too as they were commonly used to improve relations with the civilian populace who still and now resided in the war-torn metropolis. Even the Waffen-SS were in Kokshlovo as it was already getting around to everyone about several attacks on Ordenite convoys coming from the mountains to the north, to this day the mountain range was never one hundred percent cleared of enemy combatants, it was assumed when the majority of combat stopped that the enemy had been defeated. However this was not the case as many had simply just vanished into the mountains or went further north into neighboring towns and villages to escape capture. Now these insurgents were operating against Ordenite logistics that was coming from Uslan, the Port in Uslan was already becoming the most busiest port for military traffic on the island for the Ordenite Wehrmacht and the insurgents, most of who were former Red Army soldiers who rallied together even after defeat to continue to fight their war against the fascists knew it too. Kokshlovo was seen by many to be the front-lines of the insurgency that was growing and escalating in the East, and it was Kokshlovo where the Ordenite Army and Waffen-SS rallied at the most. The Krasnovan Army were also in the area of Kokshlovo, more north towards the mountains where they typically conducted patrols and search and destroy missions where the Abwehr was able to pin-point Insurgent activity. These missions were done in conjunction with hired Kysetian mercenaries who had come from Chernaya and the frontier with the Satrapy after an agreement was arranged that Chernaya would be their autonomous home.

They were mostly used as pathfinders and were the ones who were generally sent with Krasnovan patrols and or conducting reconnaissance missions into the mountains. Outposts had been built in short haste in the mean time as a way of ensuring superiority over the insurgents and to be able to react quicker when they struck. It was still destined to be a tough fight as the insurgents easily made use of their terrain and were becoming crafty in their methods of defense and attack. In one recent incursion done by a full platoon of Krasnovan mountain infantry and accompanying Kysetians, the insurgents had laid an IED in the path of the trekking platoon and once they were close enough, engaged them with automatic weapons before blowing the IED, causing a rock slide which killed most of the platoon with survivors being seriously injured. So far in spite of this when patrols were engaged by the enemy, they were to call in their relative position and retreat to a safe distance while still engaging for a near-by outpost armed with light howitzers or mortars to engage them. Positive results were there but were little and still not effective enough to completely root out the enemy. Reconnaissance by unmanned systems were used frequently in an attempt to track the movement and or positions of the insurgents so that Krasnovan or Ordenite infantry could flush them out. Villages and towns near the mountains were also regularly patrolled by the Selbstschutz Battalions who were rather ruthless in their treatment of the people as they were quite suspicious of where their loyalties were. Several reprisals had been done by the Selbstschutz already, reacting to several insurgent attacks including the killing of a decorated Ordenite Lieutenant who's vehicle was ambushed coming out of a nearby village at night. At least 70 people lost their lives the following morning as a result of collective punishment that was a favorite method of the Ordenites in occupation roles.

Dubrovnoye while not having much of a insurgent problem, had a problem with crime. Organized crime in Dubrovnoye had been allowed to grow under the occupation by the UESS, as the gangsters had simply paid the authorities off in order to have their ventures protected and not harassed. This would come to change after the handing over of power from a rouge Red Army general who during the war claimed Dubrovnoye and Kamenka independent. The city had been home to many gentleman's clubs and small time casinos for gambling and pleasure, many impoverished women in the city had no other choice but to live the life of a dancer or a prostitute working in one of the many brothels to make ends meet. A severe drug epidemic had also fostered the crime wave as the gangsters regularly sold all sorts of drugs that they could get their hands on to the populace in exchange for wealth and power. The Tsarina Cartel was no joke to many on the island and many of these gangsters typically got their product from Cartel pushers and traffickers in return for a cut of their profits. This would ultimately give rise to the Mafia and though many dreaded being visited by Tsarina Cartel hit men or enforcers, no one was safe from the Krasnov Mafia as they called themselves. Their own kind of law had been enforced in the twin cities as well as in the towns with thieves often having their hands cut off. Rival gangsters were butchered by Krasnov Mafia soldiers leaving behind gore ridden scenes for the authorities to find. When the Ordenite Army and Krasnovan Army entered the cities, they found that much of the populace spoke of the power of the Mafia and that they regularly paid a sort of fief to their enforcers in return for protection and other desires that were offered. It was not long before the Secret Field Police began a man-hunt of anyone who was said to be affiliated with the Krasnov Mafia, dozens of low level foot soldiers and enforcers were immediately arrested in the span of two weeks. Mafia run establishments were raided and shut down indefinitely as the Mafia responded with the killing of several Krasnovan soldiers who had been kidnapped and butchered in a barn outside the city, a gruesome message left behind for the authorities who dared to try and stop them.

Vostok, Red Victory Square,
Reichskommissariat Zvezda.
February 2030.

Red Victory Square which on occasions such as this one would be choked full of Red Army soldiers in ceremonial or battle dress uniforms. However the parade grounds were choked full of Ordenite Army soldiers in parade formation which seemed to stretch for almost the entirety of Red Victory Square. Where at least 50,000 stood here with countless spectators gathered where their was space too for a audience as in the background one could see the ruins of the former Kremlin that had previously been the main source of power for the Unified Eastern Star Soviets and the Politburo, however it was now in ruins with the Politburo who was captured heading towards the mountains by Ordenite Fallschirmjager and imprisoned in the former capitol. Ordenite flags had been hung before during the initial capture of Vostok as in the middle of the parade grounds were a set of gallows with knotted rope ready to be used for it's purpose in execution. A Ordenite Army band began to play as the captured Politburo members were forced marched towards the gallows with an armed escort as they made their way there through the parade grounds. The executioner was already there on the gallows and waiting as the Politburo members ascended the steps and got onto the platform before being fitted with a noose around their necks. They had been imprisoned for over 3 weeks, interrogated and beaten and partially starved as they stood with a noose around their necks waiting for certain death to set them free. The Army band ceased playing as the executioner took that as the cue and pulled on the rope that he had which triggered the platform to open several trap doors, allowing the Politburo members to fall through and hang until they died. They squirmed for several seconds before becoming motionless, some what swinging on the rope as the audience gave a small applause and cheer.

The Army Band then started playing again as the Ordenite soldiers began to march through out the parade grounds in typical fashion while being observed by the spectators and their own Officers who attended. The gallows in the middle of the square would remain as it would have it's use in the future. Despite the fact that the former capitol had seen some fighting mostly between mercenaries hired by Montana Inc and the garrison in which surrendered immediately once the Ordenite and Krasnovan Army entered the city, however it was likely that some fled to join the insurgency that was coming to light as of late. Upon their arrival to Vostok most if not all of the major government buildings that were still standing were immediately occupied by the Ordenite Army and accompanying Military Police. Headquarters of the UESS Military were also seized and occupied along with the Committee for State Security Headquarters which had not been touched in the fighting. Hundreds of arrests followed as the Military Police and the Secret Field Police began rounding up Soviet officials, civil servants and anyone that was associated and or worked for the government. Any information that had not been tampered with or destroyed before their arrival was confiscated by members of the Abwehr as the intelligence would be dissected by analysts in the hopes of finding anything of importance such as persons, places and assets. The Central Committee for the Union Communist Party(CCUCP) building was also occupied with arrests following it's seizure by the Military Police with the same agenda in mind regarding the UESS government.

The local police which were now subordinate to the Ordenite Army made sure that any outbursts of violence or protests were discouraged from happening as checkpoints were set up and armed Policemen patrolled the streets enforcing a curfew on the population which began in the evening mostly. Major television and radio broadcasting centers were also taken over as speeches and proclamations were read aloud in their native language about the end of communism and the process of reunification that would occur, cooperation from the populace was also encouraged along with other information that the citizens needed to know. The same was being done in the other major cities that dotted the Penninsula as the occupation was in full swing.

Montana Incorporated National Headquaters
Fedala, Capital of the Golden Throne

Arianna was reading the recent stock reports, it was nice to see her mutual Funds were going up. Montana Defense International stock had taken a small dive after Zvezdans nationalized their assets, but the war was over, and a deal with the Ordernites was still fresh, so the price had begun to recover. Not nearly as much she would have preferred, but the area was still a hot bed, even if finally unified. Assuming things stayed as they are the price would increase over time. It's not like the Ordernites would stay peaceful, they would eventually need more munitions eventually, and all should be fine as long as her factories in RSU remained untouched. Although, with this crisis resolved, she was going to have to head back to the Timocratic Republic soon. She turned to one of her aides, Catherine, and verbalized a note to herself:

“Cathy, take this down, need to set up meeting with Captain O’Conner, two weeks from today. It's about time I sealed the deal for the Timocratic Republic.”

“Si, Señora.” If the aide had any comment to make, she kept to herself. Arianna continued reading the reports when her phone buzzed. It was her personal secretary, the one who screened her calls and kept most everyone out of her office, it was probably important if she was calling directly.

“Hello Mary, something up?”

“Mr. Montana himself has just arrived in our building, he's on his way up to the office Mrs. Lomengo.”

“Thank you Dear. I'll take care of it from here, but do let me know why we didn't meet him at the airport.”

She hung up and politely, but sharply, told the two aides with her in her office to clean everything up instantly, time was of the essence. Antonio Montana, the namesake of Montana Incorporated, was less than two minutes outside of her office. Not only did her sources in Bogota fail to inform her that he had left the country, but he managed to get all the way to her main lobby before being discovered. She would figure out who failed her and make them pay later, but for the moment he was winning. He was playing a game, and like always, trying to catch her off guard.

As the aides packed up the final piece of paper, her Secretary called again:

“Mr. Antonio Montana in your private lobby to see you Mrs. Lomengo.”

“Thank you, please, let him in.”

She glance over the office once again, checking for anything at all out of place. So far, it all looked clear, her aides did well. The doors opened, and her Secretary led in one of the most wealthy men in Greater Dienstad, her uncle, Antonio Montana.

“Arianna, so great to see you!” The old man came in with arms opened wide for a hug

“You to Tio Antonio!” Arianna went in for the hug, continuing the charade, ”What brings you all the way to the Golden Throne, Tio?”

“I've heard your hard work has been paying off, I came to see it for myself.”

“What would you like to see?” She asked it innocently enough, but the game had begun. Her Uncle smiled and made himself at home, heading over to the bar and pouring himself a drink.

“I've heard you've saved your investments in Red Star Union, and opened up a gold mine in Omega. Seems a lot has happened lately. Do you have the summary reports on these events? I would love to review them with you.”

Arianna read her uncle's face. If it was anyone else, she would have told them politely the reports were already emailed and that they were wasting her time, but this was uncle Antonio. Antonio wouldn't care enough to fly halfway across the region over some reports unless he had already read them six times over, found them lacking, did his research, didn’t like what he found, and chose to confront the problem directly.

“Of course. Mary, Catherine, Wilson, you're all excused, thank you for your help and please close the door on your way out.”

The two aides and her secretary walked out perhaps a little too quickly, but it was much safer outside. They may not have understood the full implications from Mr. Montana’s words, but the tension was becoming palpable. When the door was closed, Antonio sat on her leather couch and smiled, continuing where he left off:

“I'm going to cut to the core, what you did was bold, and I respect bold. You secured our assets in Red Star Union, got payment for our trouble, and ensured a long term cash flow. Anyone else, anywhere else, I might congratulate on a job well done. Now, as I said, I respect bold, I respect results, and you’ve got plenty of both, which is why I love you, but I don't appreciate carelessness. What were you thinking leaving this obvious of a paper trail?”

“I was thinking that the communists had stolen from us and needed to be taught a lesson. If anything I would have expected your approval.”

“Had this been in Suria 20 years ago, maybe I would have. But this is Central Dienstad, we have a reputation to uphold. Just because you can fuck an Emperor doesn’t mean you get to fuck my reputation. You don't go inviting mercenaries into my building while paying them to destroy a government that still has some international sympathy.”

“This isn't the first time we hired mercenaries to do something dirty. Tell me, how much have you paid out sinking Ordenite ships over the years?”

Antonio stood up and walked towards his niece, getting close enough to her face that she took a step back, but he stayed on her, looking down into her defiant, if concerned, eyes.

“You think you're clever, don’t you? Good, be clever. That is a very important trait in this family. Now, I can guarantee that if, and that is a big if, IF I was paying out millions a year, from my own pockets even, to sink Ordernite vessels, there is no one who could track ANY of those losses back to me, because my paper trails would be very convoluted indeed. As for your situation, you're lucky our biggest clients are willing to look the other way this time, but how long do you think they'll tolerate your new friends? Ordernites are trouble, and they don’t keep friends for very long. I suggest you keep an exit strategy ready.”

“I always have an exit plan ready.” She may have projected the words, but there was still a hint of hesitation in her voice, either due to intimidation, or doubt, and Antonio picked up on that. He gave her a skeptical look, then smiled and backed off.

“Good, as I said, you did well saving our assets in RSU. It will be a risky long term investment, but our empire wasn’t built by playing it safe. You’ve not screwed me over yet, you got very close this time, but no one is willing to call us out on it yet. Keep it that way.”

With that Antonio finished his drink and set the empty cup on the silver tray of the bar. He turned towards the door, ready to make an exit before Arianna composed herself for one final question:

“And what of those pirates attacking Ordernite vessels? Shall I handle them as well?”

Antonio turned with another, more mischievous smile: “I would advise against it. Unless the Ordernites are paying you to fix the problem, I would suggest you simply avoid being on a ship with an Ordernite flag. Like I said, the Ordernites are trouble in the long run, remember that.”

Krasnovan-Morridane Tuktar Border Region,
North of Yukar,
Border Sector One.

The Tuktar border region stretched from as far as the borderlands to the north of the island to the mountains near New Impen and Gryaznaya and further opening up a path to the east. The only major cities neighboring the border region were Tuktar in the north and Yukar down south in Ordenite territory. Villages and towns were present, dotted throughout the border region which had been estimated by analysts that over 20,000,000 lived within it however this was on the Krasnovan side of the agreed upon demarcation line. As from across the line was Morridane territory and was considered hostile and not to be engaged unless engaged by them. A string of fortified outposts had been built by Ordenite engineers and Krasnovan laborers as they had been done along the proclaimed demarcation line dividing them. The 407th Army were stationed in these outposts as the garrison for the border region in case of conflict with the Morridanes. The only sign that the line was there was the chain-link fence that ran through the near entirety of the demarcation line as on the Ordenite side engineers began planning and laying down minefields in paths that would be tactically appeasing to the Morridanes if they were to cross over, they were also being laid to prevent refugees from making it in large droves to the demarcation line. Most who were caught by Ordenite patrols were detained and arrested for trespassing and sent to jail for a small period of time, unlike what was rumored at the Frontier to the south where it had been told that refugees trying to get across and were caught would be shot on sight by Ordenite soldiers. Since the establishment of the demarcation line, the Ordenite Army had started formulating it's strategy for air defense against the Commenwealth, it had learned plenty when it had extensively fought them in the 2nd war. A network which was already preparing to be put online, consisted of multiple batteries of strategic based Anti-air assets capable of covering the skies from strategic and tactical aircraft more effectively than previous confrontations.

The concentration of anti-air assets in the border region were plentiful as learned from fighting against Stevidian paratroopers led to a new strategy on preventing successful aerial based insertions of infantry. More outposts and bases were built further to the south as to have a second line in case of conflict breaking out, this was where rear guard elements of the 208th Army and elements of the 154th Army were posted as they would act as the second line of defense against attack and also be able to better stop refugee groups from getting to the demarcation line. This would eventually lead all the way to Yukar which was often referred to as 'Festung Yukar' which had also been greatly fortified even before the third war where it had been at risk to be the next target for the Coalition that was invading the Krasnovan interior from Tuktar in the 2nd war. Logistics for the border region was almost solely reliant on the fortress for supplies and reinforcements. The importance of the city was also significant as the city was in the path of a theoretical invading army to strike at Ol'khovka which was now the 'command and control' for the Ordenite occupation. A growing air-defense network outside of the border region which was to act as the 'end all, be all' for air defense for the entirety of the island that was under the Ordenite jackboot. Border sector one which encompassed the area from Yukar to the demarcation line its self and neighbored Sector two, was home to a multitude of villages and towns and it was known to be a area ripe with movement and activity from reported and identified refugee groups trying to make it across the demarcation line. One of these villages was only a two day venture to the demarcation line and was known to have a good degree of refugee activity.

This warranted a visit to the village by the Field Police, who in the border region conducted sweeps of villages and towns for any refugees so they could be arrested and sent back to the interior. A detachment of the Field Police would subtly arrive to the village, being sure to cover all routes out of it with armed Field Police in case their were refugees attempting escape from their custody. A few Krasnovans were also present with the Field Police and were generally interpreters for dialogue purposes. Doors were knocked on by Field Police officers as they went house to house asking for identification and of the whereabouts of refugees who may have been coming through the village or currently staying. Not many said anything useful for the Field Police to make any sort of arrest or discovery of any refugees so far. When a monetary reward was offered to anyone in the village for information that could lead to the discovery and capture of refugees was made at 10,000 Reichsmarks, several villagers stepped forward and allowed Field Police officers into their homes and or property and revealed the hiding places for dozens of refugees. They would all be lead out into the village its self and promptly detained by the Officers before being loaded into their transports for placement in a Yukar jail. The villagers in question were also informed that their rewards would come in the coming weeks, as they would be rewarded for their cooperation. It was not uncommon for the Field Police to pursue armed refugee groups who tried to avoid capture and would die so others could go free.

Ol'khovka, KNU Headquarters,
Reichskommissariat West.

Ivan Baskarov sat at his desk looking over papers that concluded an agreement between the Party and one of the last remaining independent militias in the country that shared similar ideals. This agreement assured him that this militia would join the already expanding military wing of the Party which could call on 200,000 men to fight if need be. This procurement would lead to another 4,000 men into their Armed wing's ranks and would be another 4,000 that would need to be trained and armed. Their budget was not going to suffer from this at all, with funding coming in domestically and now from the Reich and TGT. The Party was in good hands for the time being, as Ivan had told his colleagues and supporters that. A small glass and a larger bottle of some imported alcohol from Mokastana kept him company as he often drank while conducting matters of his nature. He turned in his chair looking out of the window from his office several floors above the ground, the city was changing ever since the seizure of power by the Ordenite Army. Now with the end of both the Krasnovan Republic and the Unified Eastern Star Soviets, the Reich would be unchallenged on the island. The General Governorate was already governing it's territory and people as it had recently passed a law that made the trade unions illegal and would be forced to close, other economic policies were also being put into place. All major industries that were inherited in the unification of the island under the government was cartelized and nationalized. The labor force would have to answer to the General Governorate, the national currency was already the Reichsmark and would mean that they were all part of the Ordenite economy. It was still unclear to Ivan what the Ordenites planned on doing in the long run with the island unified, but if he had any indication, he would need to be ready to ensure his people a future in this new nation.

The door to his office opened as a man in all black uniform which was the style of those in the National Unity. He came to attention and raised his arm the same as the Ordenites did in their salutes as he faced Baskarov himself. Ivan returned the gesture and allowed him to take a seat in front of his desk. He then opened up the Liquor bottle and poured two small glasses, then offering one of them to the man who sat in front of him.

"Comrade Baskarov, It is a pleasure to see you again. I've been meaning to get here sooner, but something came up with my family." The man said as he took a swift gulp of the glass finishing it. Baskarov also drank with him finishing his own glass too.

"Kendrov... It's good to see you again. Freedom is doing you well, yes?" Ivan said as the man in front of him was no other than the former leader of the Krasnovan Republic himself. Who had been detained by the Ordenite Army after the seizure of power, however Ivan was able to set him free with monetary assets he and his Party had available to him. Another round of drinks were poured as the two sat.

"The bastards... I knew from the end of that last god forsaken war that they could not be trusted." Kendrov scowled mentioning the Reich who had betrayed him and took his country from under him, revenge was all that was on his mind. However he and Ivan knew that would have to wait. The National Unity had a small network of informants that would answer to Baskarov himself and relayed new information every month, which so far had told him quite a bit of intelligence on what the Reich had been up to already. The Labor Unions of course were being disbanded and shut down, expected economic policy changes were also coming into effect. The crack downs on the remnants of the Communists were also going on in the Zvezda penninsula. The Ordenite minority in the country was stirring and rallying to their Fuhrer's call to join their cause for what they were doing in the country. The Secret Field Police were the ones they had to watch out for as they did not want to stir suspicions on exactly the National Unity was up to in the country.

The National Unity was already expanding it's influence into the eastern parts of the island. As new cells were being created that would in turn help increase growth for the organization. Recruitment stations and recruitment drives were being done to attract more membership, as well as continuing to develop their informant network under the noses of the Ordenites.

It was no secret as to how the Reichskommissariat were already implementing their tools of hate against those they considered inferior and a danger to their own race. It was no surprise as to why the Lutosk Quarter had been created and crammed with over 80,000 persons who had been forced to pack their belongings and move out of their actual homes and be moved to Lutosk, which was still within the Gryazanaya Metropolitan area but was considered a special administrative division run by the Office of Race and Settlement, part of the Ordenite-SS which was already establishing it's own influence and networks inside Reichskommissariat Ost and Zvezda. These persons who were now being targeted by the SS were of the Krasmani people who had different customs, lifestyle and beliefs than any average person on the island. Past censuses had revealed their to be over 5 million Krasmani people living primarily along the eastern coast line, bordering with the Zvezdan Penninsula. The Krasmani people had suffered Ordenite oppression before, as during the first occupation over 300,000 were taken away and put in camps, with only 108,500 returning home after being liberated by the Red Army. Reichskommissariat Ost wasted no time in creating what most would call a 'Ghetto' for the Krasmani people living in cities such as Gryazanaya and Uslan, forcing tens of thousands to be moved and to remain in their Quarter for who knew how long. Elsewhere, the Krasmani people were being discriminated against by the authorities and the Ordenite minority, as they were shunned for who they were and their businesses were often boycotted. The Lutosk Quarter was drawn out of several neighborhoods which was where their new inhabitants would remain, behind chain-link fences and armed checkpoints mostly managed by the Selbstschutz battalions.

"Papa, when can we go and see mama?" A young boy said while looking up to his aging Father with his hand in his as they walked to their apartment. The two had just came from a local grocery store and the boy was also carrying a small bag which had minor things in it that they both needed. The Quarter like the rest of the city was still filled with life as those that still resided here continued on with their lives despite the overwhelming presence of their occupier.

"Soon, my boy, soon." He said giving comfort to his son even though he knew the awful truth that they may never be reunited again. It had been two weeks since they were all together as a family in their home before they were separated forcibly by the Police and the Selbstschutz, the bastards they were he thought. A armored vehicle crept up the street as a voice boomed from it as whoever was speaking spoke the language they could understand as many paid no mind to it. The insignia of the Ordenite Army and plastered on the side of it read "YOUR COOPERATION MEANS A BETTER LIFE FOR YOU".

The boy watched the vehicle as it progressed down the street, his Father paying little mind to it as he guided his son home. Their was some commotion as they turned a corner and saw several people being forcibly removed from their apartment building. Selbstschutz soldiers accompanied several Police officers as they started moving luggage out of the building and leaving it on the sidewalk as a woman who was caressing her child sobbed at what was happening, it was assumed these were her Family's belongings being tossed out. The father clutched his son close as they approached the entrance to the building and were stopped by one of the Selbstschutz soldiers, his piercing blue eyes met the man and his son.

"You live here? Let me see your identification." He asked as the Father dug into his pockets searching for his I.D card. It was taking longer than expected to find it as the soldier became noticeably bothered. Before the soldier could say another word, the man held out his I.D card to him as the small boy clung to his Father. The soldier scrutinized the card and then the man and child before handing it back and allowing them entry into the building. Shouting and crying was heard in the background as the duo went up the stairs to their apartment, the occupation was noticeably getting worse and many feared what would happen next.

Vostok, Emissary Row,
Reichskommissariat Zvezda.

It had for quite some time been quiet in Vostok's diplomatic quarter where their Emissary row was as many who resided there had sheltered in place due to the sporadic fighting going on around them. When the Ordenite Army arrived and seized control of the capital, Emissary Row was for the most part left alone however the diplomats and staff were not allowed to leave their premises. The only buildings left standing were the embassies and or consulates belonging to three separate nations, a large pile of rubble was the remnants of a building belonging to a diplomatic team from the PUF but was evacuated and blown up before the Ordenites had arrived. The others belonged to Varessa and the Yaroslav FSR which all had been involved in some way in the fight against the now occupiers and were surely going to pay for meddling in the Ordenite's playground. Their was no escape for them as the Emissary Row was being patrolled and guarded by Ordenite soldiers from the Army and were on strict orders to not allow anyone from the last two consulates to leave the area unless told to do so. A small convoy of transport trucks soon enough made their way into Emissary Row as they drove towards the Varessan consulate first, passing by the ruins that was the former Mokan embassy building which had been blown likely by their own occupants before the Ordenites had even arrived. When the trucks arrived outside of the consulate, which from the outside looked desolate and abandoned however their were people inside and it became clear that their time was up as a loudspeaker began to project a voice which demanded that the occupants inside the consulate surrender themselves and walk out of the building.

Several minutes passed before a window in the building was opened and a white sheet was hung outside of it. Then the front entrance to the consulate opened as several people in single file with their hands raised into the air began walking towards the Ordenite soldiers who waited for them. From there they were zip tied and led into a truck as the trucks prepared to head to the last consulate building which belonged to the Yaroslav FSR. The same was done with the Yaroslav's as they too were ordered to surrender and leave the building which they did and were promptly arrested and put in trucks to be taken for questioning.

Krasnovan-Morridane Tuktar Border Region
South of Tuktar
Tuktar Free State

Since the end of the second war the Commonwealth had ended up steadily fortified the border with Krasnova, the third war meant those fortifications being extended eastwards to cover the former border with Zvezda. The defences on the northern side of the border where similar to the ones put in place by the Ordenites on the southern side, though they had been in situ for a much longer period of time and more developed. There was a string of fortified outposts manned by Morridane Army and Tuktar Defence Force soldiers, backed up by minefields and barb-wire. Further back was a network of trenches and pillboxes, plus further minefields, as the Commonwealth built up a defence in depth. There was also a few lines of Anti-Air defences, a mixture of SAM batteries and AA guns to provide the border region with extensive AA cover. Tuktar enjoyed similar defences, so did a number of the towns in the Free State area. Laced round the Free State were anti-tank stop lines, typically ditches and anti-tank barriers along with so-called anti-tank 'islands' or defence nodes. These fortified positions were manned by TDF personnel and their purpose was to slow down an Ordenite advance to buy time for a Commonwealth counter-attack. Finally there were a few decoy sites, designed to make an enemy invader waste time and resources in taking them out.

The Commonwealth also kept a close eye on the Ordenite side of the border, the most visible aspect was the patrol aircraft flying day or night regardless of weather. Though they would stay on the northern side of the border, their crews were instructed to take regular photos which were handed over to the boys in Intelligence to analyse. Similarly a fair number of the Commonwealth's assets in orbit had been tasked with observing both the border region and the entirety of Krasnova, on the lookout for suspicious build-up of troops in addition to providing another source of info on Ordenite defences. On the ground there was regular sweeps by infantry units in addition to patrols by the Land Rover borne Morridane Outriders, the latter had also setup a few observation points as close to the border as they dared. Morridane scouts had also conducted night-time incursions across the border to locate routes through the enemy defences, mainly for possible exploitation later by special forces units but also to bring back any refugees that the scouts encounter.

There was certainly no plans by the Commonwealth to launch an attack, but it was still wary of the Ordenites and so was putting a great deal of effort into fortifying its side of the border. An Ordenite attack was considered a strong possibility and so the defences had been designed with the idea of slowing down enemy forces and inflicting heavy casualties upon them. It was hoped that an Ordenite attack would never come, but the Commonwealth believed in preparing for the worst just in case.

Northern Susol, 9-11 Residential Districts,
Reichskommissariat Zvezda.

Susol was the first major city to fall to the Ordenites and Krasovans during their last offensive where they broke through the Union Line with ferocity and speed. New Impen was already ailing and being besieged heavily by the Ordenite panzers and infantry accompanying Krasnovan Army regulars. The fighting had been quite brutal to the city and to it's defenders who the Ordenite Army defeated in battle over the city which was considered a formidable fortress that would take time to break down and that they would have to exploit other routes too. The Ordenite panzers and their infantry were very effective against the outer defenses of the city and were soon able with artillery and air support, be able to siege the boroughs and commercial areas of the city where the defenders put up a stubborn defense and resistance to the Ordenites who within a week were able to route, capture or destroy the last remaining Red Army forces who were mostly conscripts and veteran fighting formations of the Red Army who were now entering the fight. The Ordenites were able to bring the city into their control a week later and had defeated conventional forces that were defending the city. What remained were the soldiers who didn't stop fighting and who weren't killed or captured during the last hours before their city fell to the Wehrmacht. They had formed into small cells and gangs who were well armed and decently trained and experience in combat to survive in the shadows of the city, sharp-shooters and snipers made up a lot of the insurgents who operated in Residential districts, nine through eleven and were suggested to be at company level manpower. Susol was left to be occupied and defended by the 129th Army of the Ordenite Army, along with two Selbstschutz Battalions that were also put under their command. The residential districts in question that was confirmed to have insurgent forces were put as targets for tactical bombing runs on major defenses and insurgent concentrations identified by Abwehr intelligence. A strict curfew had been put on these areas and were highly enforced by elements of the 16th Selbstschutz Battalion, and the 58th Grenaider Division who regularly patrolled and conducted search and destroy missions on hide-outs that were identified by the Abwehr.

These trouble areas were beginning to spark into violence a lot more often and it had been heard that insurgent forces were spilling past the men that had been put to stop them. Some skirmishing was had but for the most part the insurgents avoided major concentrations of the Ordenite Army and their Selbstschutz battalion. The Schützenpanzerwagen advanced into the 9th District in which trailed several more of these and some different variants of the same model. Unteroffizier Jonas Rodamer manned the 7.92mm turret mounted machine gun as their armored vehicle came down a two lane street. He fixed his helmet as it kept most of his blonde hair inside the helmet which was just right above his eyes. He kept his rifle close to him as he said a quick prayer and hoped he would get to return home soon to see his family. Obergefreiter Philipp Berrer who sat in he passenger seat of the armored vehicle with his driver, was connected through radios to all members inside the Schützenpanzerwagen. The small convoy was approaching a make-shift barricade in which was made with debris and wreckage done from previous fighting and bombing that was going on in these troubled areas. The lead vehicle came to a halt just 70 meters from the barricade as Rodamer trained his machine gun turret at the obstacle as the rest of the vehicles stopped too, they were only a platoon which were heading to a local strong point that had been created in the insurgent infested neighborhoods and streets that was occupied by Ordenite soldiers ready to fight the insurgents to the last man. High morale was common among the Ordenite Army and other formations of the Wehrmacht in which was core to their success in combat and war, their troops were well experienced in the type of warfare that went on now.

"When did this get here?" The Obergefreiter exclaimed as he was confused about how the barricade had been even made. He and his men had been here the night before and noticed no such activity and now were faced by what was a barricade that blocked their current path. It made him nervous as he had heard about a spike in insurgent activity and attacks in recent late, he wondered all to often when they would be attacked and he assumed that day had come now finally. The machine gun turrets kept watch of the buildings and other spots where enemies could come from and out-flank the vehicles, one of the vehicles allowed it's 10 man infantry compliment of Ordenite soldiers who were well armed and professionally trained out of their vehicle and out into the open. They kept close to the lead vehicle as two men approached the barricade its self slowly and cautiously. The two reached the barricade with no incident as one of them peeked over it and looked to what was on the other side, he saw several armed men who wore faded military garb and toted weaponry that were employed by the Red Army. He got back down from the barricade and addressed the situation on the other side which was than relayed to the rest of the Zug.

"Times six combatants, armed with light weapons. On the other side of the barricade." The radio comms buzzed to life in the vehicles as they were briefed on what the forward elements found on the other side of the barricade its self. The Ordenite infantry already out of their vehicle and positioned with the vehicles themselves made their way to the barricade and began lobbing frag grenades over. The enemy was now being engaged as the grenades went off and scattered the insurgents, one of them left lying in the street after having shrapnel tear through his back. Blood pooled all around him as he was bleeding out from his wounds. His comrades had retreated and were now taking new positions over 100 meters away. The only other way to the other side of the barricade was to penetrate the neighboring buildings and make their way around in order to flush them out. A frontal assault had been ruled out for this battle as the storefront that neighbored the barricade was now being carefully stormed by a small team of Ordenite soldiers who were stacking on the door before making a breach into the building.

"Infantry dismount, flank the barricade and neutralize all combatants." the voice on the radio comms for the vehicles ordered as the rest of the Zug's infantry compliment was deployed into the fight. The other building opposite to the storefront was also being stacked by Ordenite infantry as they too prepared to breach the building. The doors were forced opened as several Ordenite infantrymen stormed the buildings and went searching for any enemy presence along with getting to the other side past the barricade. In one of the buildings a man was found holding a pistol as he had his family huddled behind him, ignoring orders given by the men to surrender and drop his firearm, he began shooting as he was quickly gunned down in a hail of Mauser rounds. The first man into the storefront went towards an aisle before tripping on a homemade booby trap as a frag grenade went off and killed the man instantly as the Infantry fell back after the booby trap went off. Smoke grenades were thrown into the building, past where the fallen soldier was laying torn to shreds by a grenade as the smoke began to fill the space. Several Ordenite soldiers wearing gas masks stormed the building with special optics that allowed them to see infra-red which would allow them to see through the smoke. The team made it to a staircase and came into contact with a gunmen who they neutralized with ease as they secured more of the ground floor. They were then able to secure a exit to the building which was a emergency exit with an alarm however most of the power to these areas had been severed, which was another method being used to flush the insurgents out of their hiding places.

More of the Zug was being filtered through the two buildings as they were already breaching to the other side. The lead Schützenpanzerwagen's machine gunner opened fire into the barricade its self as it hoped it's bullets could penetrate to the other side, more frag grenades were getting thrown over too. The lead vehicle began to move forward as it made contact with the barricade, using it's horsepower and armor it made a path through the barricade and to the other side. The insurgents were quick to disengage and melted back into the urban sprawl further escaping the total wrath of the Ordenite Army. Six insurgents had been killed in the short engagement to the loss of two men belonging to the Zug. It had been estimated that their were more insurgents in the surrounding area that had likely heard the engagement going on. Another Zug was being sent through to reinforce the already present Zug that had just come out victorious in one of it's first skirmishes with the enemy. The insurgents who most were former Red Army conscripts or veterans that had survived the assault and capture of the city by the Ordenites and were fighting back stubbornly in the face of the new occupation. They mostly used the sewer system to navigate the districts and kept them from being harrassed and or identified by the Abwehr and or other Ordenite units. They liked to take to the upper floors of buildings they saw that had good fields of fire for their men and guns, where they regularly maimed and killed Ordenite and Krasnovan soldiers who dared to try and flush out their comrades.

A unmanned vehicle that was no bigger than the size of a normal toy RC car was inserted into the storefront as its controller who was a safe distance away guided it up a flight of stairs and down a corridor. From audio being heard by the unmanned vehicle in which the controller could also hear, voices which when the vehicle got closer to an opened door the camera was able to spot several men who were armed and talking among themselves. The controller then armed the vehicle of it's explosive which could now be detonated on his command, the explosive was at least the equivalent of a frag grenade, the vehicle slowly crept into the middle of the room as it stopped near by one of the men smoking a cigarette. He looked down for just a second catching the last glimpse of the unmanned vehicle as the controller detonated it as the resulting boom was heard. The infantry outside began to storm the upstairs floor of the storefront again and were successfully able to secure it. The skirmish came to a short end as several men had been captured by elements of the Zug who had came out the other side of the barricade and began sweeping the area. The Schützenpanzerwagen's had already advanced through and past the former barricade as they kept up with the infantry as to support them with their machine gunners who stayed in their vehicles. Such skirmishes and firefights occurred seldom often in the few districts it had been cordoned to and for the most part the Ordenite infantry were primarily the winners of such engagements, although their were always more to deal with as one would lose his life for another to soon take his place as was life for the oppressed in Krasnova.

Gryaznaya, Gryaz-Oblast,
Reichskommissariat East.

Gryaznaya was a city that had been heavily impacted by the constant warring that occurred on the island. It had been the site of major battles that wrecked endless destruction to it's landscape and deeply scarred the city for a lifetime to come. It's population had suffered greatly from the back to back wars that had gone on for years, In 2024 the population of the city was at over 60 million with a almost even split of those that lived in the city and those that lived around it in the urban sprawls. The first war in 2025, the Battle of Gryaznaya costed the city over 5 million souls during the siege that lasted 2 weeks that were plagued heavily by Ordenite carpet bombing and strategic bombing conducted by the Ordenite Luftwaffe. In the following occupation from late 2025 through 2026 the city lost another 15 million who were either sent off to growing labor camps, concentration camps or were out-right killed by the occupying Ordenites. The second war which had brought about a unspeakable and terrible war that scarred the city, another 5 million civilians were lost in the Battles that ensued for the city which had lasted for almost the same time span as in the first war. The re acquisition of the city by the UESS did not fair any better as suspected collaborators and spies were executed by the Soviets in which over 500,000 lost their lives. Another 3 million were migrated and relocated by the Soviet government to settle the Chernaya area, by early 2028 the population of Gryaznaya consisted of 36 million persons. The third and final war would come in the Summer of the same year and by the fall, Gryaznaya was one of the first major cities to be fully occupied on the road to the Zvezdan heart land. Civilian loss was counted at a little over 20,000 people mostly due to bombing. Little had happened since the beginning of the occupation since the liberation of the city in September, a military administration had been drawn up and created for the administration matters pertaining the city and was added as a city under the Reichskommissariat East. A permanent garrison consisting of the 132nd Infantry Division, 112 Panzergrenaider Division and the 12th Selbstschutz Battalion would be responsible for the defense of the city and for population control, as the Ordenite Army in Krasnova would now be taking specialized orders from the Colonial Political Office which was a entity within the National Socialist Reich Party.

It was in no time that most of the city had been carved up into Quarters or "Ghettos" as historians and others would naturally refer to them as, out of 36 million living within the city at least 27 million were now confined to these as had been done by their occupiers. Other major cities in the eastern half were also going through the same as the police forces cooperated with the Ordenite security forces in shifting the populations of these cities into their designated areas where they would be segregated from the rest and confined within a large residential area. The rural sections outside of Gryaznaya which hosted the remaining 15 million, who primarily were the lower class and naturally farmers, they were allowed to live as they did and kept in possession of their farms and allowed the benefits that the farmer would be at liberty to in the Ordenite Reich. A detachment of what was being called the ' Krasnovan National Army' which was formed out of what was the armed wing of the Krasnovan National Unity, most of who lived in what formerly was the Krasnovan Republic but now a part of the greater General Governorate, essentially a territory of the Ordenites. This force was primarily tasked in it's founding that it would directly provide defense and safety for rural inhabitants, particularly farmers and churches that were part of the Krasnovan Eastern Orthodox. The KNA were able to assemble over 235,000 abled bodied and combat tested militiamen who formerly represented several different paramilitary and independent militia formations. Recruitment drives and rumored conscription into the outfit has been estimated to bring in another 200,000 by 2034, they represent the hammer of the Krasnovan National Unity and it's position in the politics of the General Governorate. In several major meetings between KNU and Ordenite officials and representatives on the eve of the end of the Third Krasnovan War. The KNU secured the faith of the Reich in order to keep it's 'standing army' under it's orders and were now utilized as part of the security apparatus that was being built in the country.

They were intended to keep a presence in the more rural and less populated areas within the terrain and territory of the General Governorate and enforce the laws and scrutiny that was being put on the populace by the Ordenite Reich. They have been noted by civilians who have interacted with the KNA and have said that they are souless killers and puppets to the Ordenite cause. They have been recently known for decimating villages in the name of counter insurgency, and maintaining law and order. It was no different within the city as the beginning of what was being termed 'AKTION GRENZEL' after SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Oskar Grenzel who created what was a plan to induct revenge on the Krasnovan and 'Zvezdan' peoples in former UESS territory. The Unified Eastern Star Soviets which at one point in 2029 had a population of over 1.532 billion people within it's territory which stretched from Saint Pyter to Chernaya. In the plan created by the top chain of command within the Ordenite Schutzstaffel and the National Socialist Reich Party. Primarily it's the Party Office of Racial Affairs, and the Colonial Political Office who were involved in the creation of the detailed and rather diabolic plan that was intended to effect nearly 300,000,000 people who were formerly Soviet citizens of the UESS. The Reich and it's General Governorate had been hard at work constructing additional facilities that would come to be labor extensive as were the many others that were still operational.

In this plan included a list of occupations that certain citizens were to this very day. Teachers, writers, poets, bankers, labor union members, and others that were considered intelligentsia and or potential enemies of the Reich and would be marked for death. These killings were typically carried out in already established Quarters and were done by the Selbschutz battalions, organized into death squads as they roamed the many Quarters within the city such as Gryaznaya as they executed them. In the first week of the plan going operational and underway, over 10,000 people were already confirmed dead at the hands of the Selbschutz. Another 200,000 were transitioned into the growing labor camp system that was being built up by the Reich and the General Governorate, as already nearly 1,000,000 had been moved into the system as registered prisoners of war who had surrendered shortly before the official absolute surrender of the UESS as a nation and as an enemy of the Reich. The killings however did not end there as former Red Army soldiers and other members of the now defunct Soviet Military who were in Ordenite custody following the war, were also targeted in Aktion Grenzel. A soldier who's rank was equivalent to a NCO and higher were segregated from their conscript counterparts and placed in separate camps where they would remain for the time being, as they were considered a security threat to the General Governorate.

Krupp Armaments Industry - Krasnova, Headqaurters,
Yukar, Reichskommissariat West.

Krupp Armaments Industry was one of the first major corporations that began expanding their interests and production capability into Krasnova. During the first occupation it had factories and other assets all across the 'Krasnovan Republic' and mostly manufactured weaponry and military vehicles for the occupying Ordenite Armee and Waffen SS, who later in the 2nd Krasnovan War would be well supplied in reserves from Krupp Armaments Industry factories. However when the Ordenite military left the island as part of the peace agreement following a limited nuclear exchange which pushed both sides to the negotiating table. The Ordenite corporation had worked out a deal with the Krasnovan Republic to produce for their military as to not have to leave which was how the Ordenite Reich kept contact in the island. They continued to profit from the manufacturing of arms now to the host government they were now under, it would soon recover from the loss of assets in the east during the lull after the 2nd War. Although now those assets lost were gained back with even more assured for the future of Krupp Industries in the General Governorate. The Krupp Armaments Industry was already working on buying up liquidated assets mostly from former defense and armament industries that were previously Montana Incorporated affiliated and owned. Krupps was already planning on buying up over 1 billion Reichsmarks worth of liquidated assets from Montana Incorporated, and a paying plan had already been established with the payment of the assets being paid over the next 30 years. Other Ordenite industries were also doing the same along with buying assets from the General Governorate themselves which they also rewarded businesses in order to help them prosper.

Krupp Industries Headquarters based in Yukar for the Krasnovan branch consisted of a structure that was constructed in the manner of Ordenite architecture. It was constructed similarly to the Headquarters in Berlina which most in Krasnova and or part of the Ordenite administration and occupation force knew as Krupp Industries. The building was a multi-floor structure consisting of over 10 floors and was part of the overall wealth and progress going on in Yukar which was also a major industrial city, one of many that could be found across the island. Walter Krupp von Oberweg had run the Industry in Krasnova on behalf of his Grandfather, Adolf Krupp who owned the entire Krupp Industries Corporation as part of his family dynasty that reaches back to Imperial Ordenite history. He was nearly 40 years old and had been in the corporation for over 25 years and was a family stock holder in the corporation, along with his Grandfather and his own younger brother and Father. The Krupp Dynasty in the 20th century and beyond were loyal National Socialists and could definitely get their way with the sway they had over the Party and the national government. A phone call came through to his Office phone as he picked it up and answered.

"Hello?"

"Herr von Oberweg, SS-Oberfuhrer Mohnke is here to see you."

"Send him in please, Thank you." Walter hung up the phone and put it down as a knock came at his door not a minute later. The door opened and in walked in SS-Oberfuhrer Mohnke as Walter stood up and met him before he reached the desk. The two shook hands as Mohnke also saluted in which Walter also saluted him in return before the two took their seats at Walter's desk. Mohnke was of course part of the Ordenite-SS but more importantly in the SS-Totenkopfverbande which in the General Governorate and in the homeland, were responsible for the running of detention centers and the forced labor facilities. He in particular being SS-Oberfuhrer was responsible for the Yukar Oblast in regards to the detention and labor facilities operating within the region. So it was only right that the head of Krupp Industries in Krasnova with many factories under their belt in the region of the country would come to him about the use of prisoners to fill in the workforce that the corporation needed.

"Herr Mohnke, many thanks for accepting my invitation to talk about the workforce under Krupp Industries, Krasnovan branch." Walter said opening up the conversation with Mohnke as he sat in his SS officer uniform which displayed several medals of achievement during his service in the Waffen SS. The color patches on his collar would signify his rank of SS-Oberfuhrer by the twin oak leaves gorget patches, along with shoulder patches which signified the rank through 2 pairs of oak leaves and four officer bars below it. His officer cap bore the death head insignia patch which shows his current duties in the SS-Totenkopfverbande.

"As you know, SS-Oberfuher, Our factories that we have acquired through the General Governorate succeed the manpower we currently have to conduct operations in country with the most productivity achieved" Walter continued as Mohnke kept eye contact with him, which to Walter made him some what nervous in a wierd way. A SS officer such as Mohnke and especially an Officer involved in the day to day goings of dozens to hundreds of labor camps and death camps even. The SS-Oberfuhrer was already intimidating the CEO of the company, and he wasn't even threatening him, but the fear in the back of his mind was there. Mohnke was in-different to Walter's strange behavior around him, he had seen it many times by prisoners when he was in their presence as he could garner death without hesitation and was how we rose up the ranks in his 10th year as an active member of the Waffen-SS with having been an Officer for no more than 3 years ago. Walter opened a drawer in his desk as he took out a small folder which had some documents inside, he slid them over to Mohnke.

"I am proposing that Krupp Industries, here in Krasnova should acquire at least from the documents I have given you just now. Seven million prisoners with all currently residing in the labor detention system in the Yukar Oblast. In return for this conscription of labor from your region, SS-Oberfuhrer I am offering you at least 200 million Reichsmarks in revenue due to be paid to you in the course of 5 years." Walter laid down his request and his offer of payment for the conscription of labor from Yukar Oblast. Mohnke had already skimmed through most of the documents, as he was not big on reading business garble as he looked at Walter before speaking.

"7 million, that's quite a request, Herr Oberweg-" Walter cut him off as Mohnke stared him down.

"It's Krupp, Herr SS-Oberfuhrer." Mohnke didn't say a word for a few seconds, as he processed everything and then replied.

"Herr...Krupp. This will need at least a month to organize before we even think of beginning to transition the schedule of these seven million to now having to rotate to factories across the island." Mohnke leaned inward towards Walter as he spoke more softly. His voice having a sinister twist to it that sent chills down the spine of Walter himself.

"You think your name will protect you from those who you disrespect? You will regret the day you dare try to cross an Officer of the SS!" Mohnke took a pen out of his breast pocket as he signed the last document in the folder which requested his signature to authorize the conscription. He then stood up from the chair he sat in as he walked out of the room, typical for the SS Walter thought as he had watched the SS-Oberfuhrer leave his Office and did officiate the request for 7 million prisoners within the labor detention system in the Yukar Oblast.

Berlina,
Capital City,
Ordenite Reich

In his long years of travel he had learnt that you could tell alot about a nation's culture from its capital city. The heart of the Reich was no different; its streets and buildings had been designed to combine both efficiency and grandness. It screamed militant to his eyes. The lines between civilian and military were blurred, uniformed personnel were everywhere and were just as likely to be government officials as they were to be soldiers. Much to his satisfaction it even extended to the police, whom he considered to be beautifully heavy-handed in their approach to dealing with crime.

This air of military efficiency prevailed from the moment he stepped off the jetliner that brought him here through to checking in at the hotel Der Adler (The Eagle in Stevidian). The Ordenites portrayed it as their greatest strength, though he considered it to be one of their biggest weakness. They were regimented and slow to adapt, something that had costed them...what? Two wars now? Certainly costed them dearly in the Krasnovan conflicts.

Despite being a militant people, least they didn't lack the word 'luxury' from their language. Der Adler hotel he estimated to have a four, maybe a five, star rating going by its furnishings and the menu on offer in the hotel's restaurant. His room seemed to be one of the more desirable suites, processing a balcony with grandiose views over the city. The suite even came with a selection of top end Mokan cigars, something that he found amusingly ironic each one he lit one and exhaled the smoke over the city's streets.

He glanced at his watch and concluded that the messaged he'd tasked his agent with delivering should've plenty of time to work its way through the bureaucratic organs of the Reich government. He seated himself down in a plush armchair, next to it was a telephone on a small dark wood table, and waited. A short while later the phone started ringing and he let it ring four times before he answered it. "Herr minister? Good, I've been expecting your call."

"So glad you got my message Herr minister." The man continued. "Yes, I assure you that what I have to offer will be mutually beneficial to all concerned. Meet in person? Certainly, I'll get my agent to arrange the necessities."

"My name? Viktor, Viktor Cathmore."

Berlina, East-West Axis,
Ordenite Reich.

A fairly luxurious vehicle had arrived out front of the Der Alder Hotel and had picked up Viktor Cathmore who was a person of royalty in the Morridane Commenwealth. However this was not some sort of state visit on behalf of the Commenwealth, who had recently come to the table with the Reich to agree to a non-aggression sort of treaty mostly over the two in Krasnova. Berlina was a gargantuan metropolis which was home to over 500 million people in both the metropolitan and suburban areas of the capitol. The city its self had changed face several times through out it's history with the most recent change occurring in the 1940s and into the early 1960s where a major revamp and construction of what the National Socialist regime envisioned as the 'World Capitol' and as the face of Ordenite ingenuity and power. Clean and tidy streets and buildings wherever one could imagine as it would seem to a foreign visitor such as Cathmore that the city was virtually untouched by the living of humans for hundreds of years. The mark of the National Socialist Reich Party and the regime its self was everywhere in the form of banners, flags and other means of getting their message across and decorating the city in the ideology that many across the Reich passionately followed. Statues and all sorts of monuments could be seen which many had been built over the last several decades, commemorating past officials or even Fuhrers themselves. At times Viktor would be able to see roaming squads of uniformed soldiers marching in formation off of the street as it had been made tradition for them to do so. Public transportation was vital for the population as buses and metro-lines were more evident than actual cars such as the one that Viktor was currently sitting in. Walking and or bicycling was also another common method for the common person in Berlina.

The car would soon enough find its self at Großer Platz which was one of the biggest public spaces in the city and surrounded by some of the most grandiose buildings in the capital. The Fuhrer Chancellery on the west side while the original Reichstag building sitting on the east and the Reichskanzeli building which also hosted the Oberkommando des Armee sat in the south. To the north of the platz sat the Volkshalle which was a magnificent and grandiose domed building that was to be the center piece of the capitol and was bigger than many stadiums and even Olympic stadiums in the region. Along the edges of the public space would be large flag poles that reached upwards into the sky and hoisted the flags of the Ordenite Reich. Viktor Cathmore would be escorted by his monitors into the Reichskanzeli and then eventually into the Office of the Reichsminister for Foreign affairs himself. Ernst Grasemann.

OOC: For Viktor Cathmore, imagine Ian MacKellen in Richard III.

For Viktor, the tour he was given of the city on the way to the Reichskanzeli only served to confirm his earlier observations on Ordenite culture. Military efficiency ran deep in Ordenite culture as evidenced by the Reich's capital, though Viktor was sure his earlier suspicions of the Reich being too rigid were also true. The tour he'd expected, it was an age old tactic to overwhelm foreign dignities with awe before they met government officials. There was being overawed and then there was being impressed, though Viktor neither of those applied to him as the car made good time along the city's streets.

The Ordenites weren't the only ones looking to make an impression, Viktor too was looking to make a strong first impression. He had opted for a military look; a grey open collared jacket with a collared shirt and tie, matching trousers, a dark leather Sam Browne belt and shoes, plus a peaked cap. His dark hair was oiled and combed to one side, though it was noticeably starting to thin out and the tips were going grey. He also had a well groomed but small, pencil mustache. Though he tried to give off a strong aura of power, he made one small concession for his advancing years in the form of an oaken walking stick.

"Ah, Herr...Grasemann isn't it?" He greets the Reichsminister in almost perfect Ordenite. "You'll have to forgive some of my pronunciations, I've not had the pleasure to converse much in your tongue."

Ernst Grasemann smiled lightly as he shook hands with Viktor Cathmore. He was impressed on his knowledge of the Ordenite language but he dared not give him the satisfaction of that, he was Morridane after all and to many in the Reich they were still enemies. Of course he had been some what filled in on what Cathmore wanted and had been pondering it ever since he had arrived in the early morning hours to his office, awaiting the man's arrival. The office was a tidy one and decorated at Grasemann's personal taste after taking over from Valentin Voelker, who he had no idea what would or has become of him and he didn't quite care for what that outcome was as he had more important matters on his mind.

"Very well, Herr Cathmore, Viktor Cathmore is it?" Grasemann spoke in perfect Ordenite, the accent was obvious. "You have traveled quite a distance from your homeland to mine for... retribution I imagine?"

"Her Cathmore will do just fine." Replied Viktor, pulling out a packet of cigarettes and then asking. "Do you mind?"

"I've travelled a long way from my....country of birth." Viktor continued. "Though 'retribution' may be bit of a strong word Herr Grasemann."

"I hope you understand the principles of a monarchy, or least the line of succession. If you're not, then the basics are pretty simple; usually a male heir inherits and in cases where the said heir is considered underage a regent is appointed to rule in their stead. Things get slightly more complicated when a female heir is involved."

"I'm sure your agents have told you that my brother was Viceroy Alfred Cathmore, father to the current Vicereine Lothwyn. Though I'd be impressed if your agents had told you that my niece was two years short of turning eighteen when her father died, technically too young to inherit the crown. By convention a regency should've been appointed, yet it was decided to let Lothwyn assume the throne early."

"You may be wondering why I'm telling you this Herr Grasemann." Said Viktor. "I want you to understand my past, I want you to also understand that Lothwyn's claim to the crown is illegitimate."

Ernst Grasemann nodded as Viktor asked to smoke a cigarette. "Yes, yes I know my fair share about monarchies and their politics associated with their heirs. I also do know of the current dynasty and some of it's problems." He added as Viktor continued with what he was trying to get his point across.

"So this is what it's about? The daughter of your brother is a illegitimate heir to the Morridane crown. I can only imagine the shame that brings on your name..." Ernst said as he trailed off, mostly looking to get a reaction out of Viktor as the two sat in his office.

"Shame?" Viktor replied a little coldly, then took a drag on his cigarette and continued. "No...anger."

"Anger at being denied my blood right, anger at my lawful rights being squashed and anger at being cast to one side in favour of a bastard child." Said Viktor, his tone remaining cold. "But I have taken that anger and, like a blacksmith, forged it into my weapon of retribution."

"Ten long years I have worked; ten years of schemes, plots, actions and desperate measures to take me a step closer to my singular goal." Viktor said, pausing to take another drag. "Now my plans and actions are beginning to bare fruit and I find myself standing on the threshold of a course of total commitment, one that I cannot and will not be able to turn from once it is in motion."

"Now, despite my best efforts I have my resources to be...finite. That and the prospect of potential enemies once my course is struck, I'll be in need of...associates."

Kokshlovo, Reichskommissariat East,
Krasnovscher Wohnbezirk A.

Kokshlovo still to this day has not fully recovered from the near month long battle that resulted in it's liberation from the Soviets. Sections of housing were still rubble or hollowed from intense bombing, electricity was still not very apparent in over half of the city. With power mostly being found in areas designated by the local government and regime as 'Aryan' with these areas mostly being inhabited by the ethnic Ordenites who were formerly minorities. Other areas designated as 'Krasnovscher Wohnbezirk' was considered a ghetto and living space for non-Ordenites as to accordance with regime law. Those that were of government nature and sympathetic to the regime and it's goals for the population and land as a whole were exempt from the ghettos and they and their families lived in the 'Aryan' areas. Cities such as Kokshlovo consisted of several ghettos thus turning much of the city into a exponential slum, filled with those deemed as 'unfit and undesirable' by Ordenite standards of racial purity and ideology. Of course the regime had once been seen as true liberators after the 3rd War in which it prevented a nuclear apocalypse. Instead much of the population chose occupation by a familiar enemy over annihilation and so this was to be expected from the Ordenites despite their previous actions. Many of these ghettos were closed off from the outside, at first with fencing and barbwire with armed checkpoints to make sure one area didn't mix with the other. Now the surrounding of a ghetto were walls of solid brick and concrete, watch towers had also been built which could watch either side of the walls which was where a machine gun or sharpshooter was posted. Overall policing was left up to the National Unity of Krasnova and usually pledged several auxiliary units as police inside the ghettos, most were extremely cold and cruel even though the two were of the same stock however the ideology took hold of them and their senses as they oppressed their brothers and sisters.

The Kokshlovo Municipal Council and it's Ordenite mayor had enacted several policies that would stand the test of time. Rationing was introduced as food production for Kokshlovo would piece by piece be diverted from the average Krasnovan and into the bellies of their occupiers and collaborators. All able bodied persons were to at some point register with the cities labor organ which registered tens of thousands a day that could be further incorporated into 'special work units' under the command of the Reich Labor Service. Already as part of bigger projects concerning the rebuilding of Datosk, Stravopol and New Impen the city was already contributing over 150,000 workers that were already being transported to these cities for work on behalf of the Macabean corporations that required their cheap labor. Other cities in Reichskommissariat East and even Zvezda were also included in the tributes as they too mobilized hundreds of thousands of laborers for work in reconstructing. Many of these laborers were also being transported mostly by train to the frontier with the Commonwealth and it's holding on Tuktar and the surrounding area as they would help in constructing further defenses for the Ordenite Army. The 'Trans-Krasnovan Railway' was also the site of increased use of labor as much of it's routes needed maintenance and repair from past sabotage and damage from past conflicts. Many of these laborers worked 12 hours a day for 6 days out of the week and were fed just enough for them to carry out their desired function. Many resided in already existing labor camps with others being in camps privatized by the industries that needed them for work, the life of a Krasnovan was not much different from their life under the Union that the Reich had destroyed.

"Hear me, Krasnovans, brothers and sisters! The fascists cannot hold down the proletariat! Our voice cannot be silenced!" The man said as he had surely drawn a crowd to him with the words he spoke. Most showed up simply because of what he was spewing and others sympathized with the man. Many sympathized with those who still held on to their communist feelings as out of spite to their current occupiers, as being on the left of the spectrum at all was a sign of trouble to the Ordenites. Many in the crowd were factory workers as this all was happening outside of a local factory to the area that had at one point mostly manufactured agricultural machines and was now retrofitted to produce ordinance for main battle tanks. The crowd was growing as other laborers came to see what the man who stood on top of several boxes he voiced his hatred of the occupation, the Ordenites and echoed communism and the liberation of the "Rodina' and the uniting of the workers. This voice was a danger to the Ordenite's influence and occupation of the island, if dissident thoughts and ideals of their enemies being spewed to the lower class they would certainly face a possible shift in population control.

"Death to the fascists, death to their Mothers and their children too!" He spat out as the laborers encouraged with violence and hatred flowing in their blood they roared in approval. The Factory's security officers were soon enough overwhelmed with the hundreds of laborers who went into revolt against them. They were hammered and beaten by the revolting workers, some were able to escape as the revolting laborers ran amok on the factory grounds. They did some damage mostly to windows inside the factory, they ran amok in offices as they tore up offices and looting. Many of them gathered in one of the factory buildings as the orator and leader apparently of the riot that was going on orating again. Factory administration members were ran out of the area by the mob of angry workers as they even ran out their own who they saw as a traitor to the revolution. Krasnovan Auxiliary Police were already responding to the factory and the riot that was going on as they came in numbers and armed, they arrived in armored cars and trucks as they sealed all the entrances and exits off to the factory its self. The workers had begun to gather at the main entrance of the factory grounds as they looked to confront the Auxiliary Police who were massed at the main entrance, likely looking to storm the factory and restore order. Make-shift barricades were made near the gate to try and prevent the Police from entering through the main entrance, tear gas was deployed in the mean time into the mob of workers. A armored car used by the Auxiliary Police smashed through the first barricade that was right in front of the main gate that the workers had tried to block. More tear gas was deployed on the mob and on the ground between them as Auxiliary Police officers wearing proper gas masks stormed the factory ground and began shooting at the mob of workers through the tear gas. The sharp crack of bullets being fired at unarmed rioters broke the air as dozens fell at a time to their guns, lead tearing through flesh and bone. Blood puddled under the sheer mass of bodies that the Police had gunned down, the rest scattered and ran for their lives as Armored cars and additional Auxiliary Police began to secure ground and begin taking back the factory.

The rioters were now completely broken as many in their ranks had been gunned down in mass, the survivors scurried for hiding or a escape out of the factory alive. They would not get far as those that did not surrender to Police they encountered were gunned down like their comrades. It only took 20 minutes for the factory to come back under control with over 175 laborers turned rioters killed and another 44 rioters now detained by Police following the mass shooting. The factory was then shut down for reparations that would need to be made in all after the riot, the rioters who had surrendered would be put on trial and likely face many years in a labor camp or for some a concentration camp. Incidents such as these occurred seldom and were mostly organized by embedded agitators who's loyalties lied in the resistance to the Ordenite occupation. Violence such as this was common in the eastern portions of the island, formerly known as the 'Unified Eastern Star Soviets' and who's capitulation led to tens of thousands taking arms in yet to be found bases and hide-outs. A overall leader had not been identified yet by the RSSA and other security forces on the island however their was strong support behind the naming of Ivan Zukov a former General in the Soviet Army who has not been seen for quite some time. Other Generals and high ranking officers in the Soviet Military who had not been 'accounted' for were also suspected of being possible leaders in the current form of the resistance against the General Governorate.

Somewhere in the Popovka Mountains,
30KM from Dubroynoye.

The winding trails going down the Popovka Mountains were calm and quiet as several men in camouflage BDU's and armed with a variety of weapons descended the mountain on these trails. Their were twelve of them in a single staggered line formation as they were in order similarly to a pack of wolves. The ones considered to likely perish first or were sick or injured were at the front of the line, while the able bodied fighters made up the middle and then at the end was the leaders. The group had been hiking down the mountain for almost 2 hours now and could better see the forestry below them as the path they took would go directly into the dense forests that neighbored their side of the mountain. They were all part of the same militia that were operating out of the Popovka mountains and in the vicinity of Dubroynoye, other militias alike to them also operated in the area as well. All in all only a division worth of fighters were operating in the area that was on the road to a major city that were one of the least affected cities on the island. It was a daunting and likely one that would cost the fighters a lot of good men, as proper plans for the possible recapturing of Dubroynoye were under heavy debate in a solid possibility that the resistance could pull it off. So in the meantime the long term objectives for them were disrupting control over the satellite towns and villages that were in their area of operations from the Popovka Mountains. This particular militia had engaged in numerous skirmishes with the Krasnovan Army's 55th Motorized Rifle Division that were on COIN operations in the area. The division largely built fortifications mostly near the larger towns and major infrastructure that was targeted by the resistance multiple times however the Krasnovan Army were able to fight them off. However many of the militias operating in the area had their own intelligence network with sympathizers in towns and villages in their influence, so they received almost regular updates and information on security forces in the area along with infrastructure and civil administration facilities. There had been a string of car bombings mostly concentrated on military checkpoints and even Auxiliary Police facilities. The guerilla militias in the area simply were picking at the security forces and what stabilization they were able to maintain as to force general panic and dissent among the population, In which a sudden revolution would occur and the real fight would be on.

"Comrade-Sergeant, Tell me about the Revolution? It still boggles my mind how truly fucked the fascists are." A man in line said cradling a re-manufactured GLM-83 light machine gun, the gun looked almost as big as him and looked awkward for him however the fighter did not care. The men kept trekking down the mountain and once they were in the dense forests they moved more freely as they had nature's cover. There was a village near by, one that was warming to them and allowed them to keep a small cache of weapons there for safe keeping, in return they would have protection and promises of liberation. They would go on for another 3 miles into the forestry before coming to the village its self which was sat in one of the clearings. A village elder met with the group and it's leader soon enough.

"You have returned? If your looking for the weapons you hid here, you know where they are, comrade." The elder said a former soldier himself in a war that was long in the past. Two of the fighters brought out a long sturdy case from the cache that was buried near by in a secluded area. Opening it they would see the PLR-4 with several rockets which were also taken as the case was put back where it was found. After a quick meal among themselves at the village, they continued on back into the forestry. After several more hours and well into the evening portion of the day the men reached their destination which was a small base camp occupied by Krasnovan soldiers who were sitting around a growing fire. Three or so soldiers were posted as on guard with their TK-60 re-manufactured assault rifles, tents had been made for them and were strung around the ground that they called theirs. The fighters kept a decent distance away from them, choosing to advance around them for better firing positions on them. Two jeeps had arrived from and off-road and parked themselves near by but still insight of the fighters who hid around them. The fighter with the PLR-4 loaded a rocket into it's tube and took aim at one of the jeeps, on command he fired the rocket as it whooshed into the side of the jeep. Gunfire broke out as the others opened fire on them and had caught most of them by surprise, their guards had went down first and then the ones who scrambled for cover or their weapons. It hadn't taken long at all for the fighters to loot the weapons and other valuables off the corpses and whatever else they could find before leaving the area.

Nazarovo, Zvezdescher Wohnbezirk A,
Reichskommissariat Zvezda.

Nazarovo, a sizable metropolis that is called home to over 200 million people with it split almost evenly between those living urban and those living rural in the numerous satellite towns and villages. It was a very industrious city with it's location nearby the Zvezda Mountains where a large mining industry had been established. The Marsinti people had been documented before in the past by Ordenite ethnicity experts to have had a total population of over 64 million persons identifying as Marsinti. They were a nomadic and suggestively a dispersed people however the only known concentration for them happens to be in Krasnova, several years before during the first occupation of only what had been the island with the exception of the Zvezdan penninsula to the north east which had been kept from the Ordenites the first time through proping up of the Unified Eastern Star Soviets. The Marsinti people observed by the Ordenites for months had determined that they were of no racial stock to be compared or considered on par with Ordenites and were classified as lesser and were under the radar as persons that were not desired in the future that the Ordenites intended to create. Many were sent to labor camps as the regime had decided to persecute them for their transgressions and make them rot toiling in back breaking labor for the Ordenite Reich. Before the outbreak of the 2nd Krasnovan War, the total Marsinti population that had been sent away to toil in labor camps had rose to over 6 million persons with the rest being incorporated into the 'Ghetto order' as they called it, which was the sectioning off of high Marsinti population centers from others considered 'Aryan land'. The second war saw the liberation of over 4 million incarcerated Marsinti people toiling their lives away in labor camps. It had been estimated by Soviet analysts that over 500,039 of them had perished during the initial Ordenite occupation before the Union Red Army and the Federal Mokan forces and their coalition sweeped through the eastern portion of the island. 2 million still toiled away in labor camps outside of the UESS's reach and the 3rd Krasnovan War and it's current outcome now gave the sense of impending doom to the Marsinti people and those they had lost to the Ordenites in the past. The current death toll for the Marsinti people in Ordenite territory to be now over 973,000 people who have died in Ordenite hands. The current occupation so far had opened up the rest of the Marsinti population in Zvezda which stood at over 40 million during the first unofficial "census" as they called it. They had so far only submitted them to the 'Ghetto' treatment as they have with all the rest, however they had also been collecting portions at a time that would be sent off to near by labor camps.

Some of these camps were now growing near the city its self and hosted a working population of 200,000 which had been dispersed through several mining facilities where they would toil their lives underground or in the mountain. The deportation of the Marsinti people had now accelerated as they would be used to fill labor quotas that needed to be met across the island. Since the iteration of the General Governorate the Marsinti that are currently incarcerated in a labor camp has grown to over 9 million people in total. Nazarovo was a city that had been one of the sanctuaries that had opened it's arms to fleeing displaced people such as the Marsinti, in which over 6 million resided in a section of one of Nazarovo's first and one of it's largest Ghettos where countless more were kept extremely segregated. The Nazarovo Municipal Council having been consulted officials from the Reich Main Security Office particularly those with the Amt IV 'Suppression of Opposition' which dealt with the elimination of enemies to the Reich. What this meant for the Marsinti people in Nazarovo was chilling and seen as hopeless by those who were now at the mercy of the Einatzgruppen who would come to take them away. The 63rd and 66th armies of the Ordenite Army which took up normal occupation duties in the vicinity of the city utilized their Einatzgruppen detachments which offered over 10,000 Security Police and SS men. Who handled the tasks of rooting out the undesirables present where they were deployed to which in practice was in areas swept by the soldiers they trailed behind and were officially designated as logistics. Several Einatzkommando units had been deployed to tackle the city's Marsinti problem and would collaborate with the Auxiliary Police and the Selbschutz battalions from which they could get support from in their operations.

Auxiliary Police and Selbschutz assistance was crucial to the flow of the task at hand. Primarily Marsinti concentrations of people in Nazarovo were targeted overall as the aforementioned security forces began sweeping these areas of the city which were part of the Ghetto portion of it. Staging areas had been assembled outside of the city for better mass-transit of the people they were taking as they herded tens of thousands out of the city primarily by marching them out and herding them like cattle. Their homes and places of gathering were all swept through and ransacked by security forces in the process, unknown 'casualties' occurred in which several Marsinti at a time were being out right killed as they were being herded out of the city. This had been going on for almost two weeks and had so far deported over half a million out of the city and to staging areas where they were transported to their fate. These sorts of operations took place frequently in the General Governorate after legislation had been passed that would mean the incarceration and witch hunt for those deemed a danger to the Ordenite Reich. It had already been played out here before as they had first come for teachers, professors and other intellectuals whom many still had their professions until they were too herded away.

"At the current rate we are going, SS-Brigadefuhrer. We should be able to complete a full sweep of the city in just over a month." A adjutant said as they sat in a open top jeep in the middle of one of Nazarovo's Ghetto's that were mostly populated by Marsinti. A cigarette was lit by the Brigadefuhrer who was in command of the 66th Army's Einatzgruppen detachment which was at Brigade strength, he watched as a column of walking Marsinti went by herded through the streets by Auxiliary Police and Selbschutz soldiers.

"Very well, Once the filth has been removed from this city we will move on to the next. I hear we will be operating in the country side not too far from here." The Brigadefuhrer said as he signaled the driver to drive off.

"You wish to have the Reich in your corner?" Grasemann exclaimed as he sat back in his chair thinking of what this could mean for the future. "Let me hear what you have in mind for this grand plan you have brewing? Grasemann asked as he sat back and listened, calculating what could be done and so fourth.

"Yes, we wouldn't be having this conversation otherwise." Answered Viktor. "My plan? Ah yes..."

"It has taken me the best part of a decade to first formulate and then put into motion." Explained Viktor. "I've courted individuals highly placed within the military and political circles of the Commonwealth, playing on and exploiting their frustrations."

"Next I set about taking measures to ensure that when the time is right, the Commonwealth's home forces are significantly weakened and to have my own men in strategic locations. Consider it divide and conquer if you will; a distraction here, a distraction there to divert the attentions of the Commonwealth's military. New Garrack is part of this process, a stepping stone to achieve my end goal."

"As I stated previously, my resources are finite." Viktor said, pausing to take a drag on his cigarette. "My plans are in danger of faltering unless that inconvenience is addressed."

Orthopraxis Church Camp
Somewhere between New Impen and Gyraznaya

Stefan looked around him, eyes finally wide with excitement. He smelled food, warm food. It had been so long since he had a warm meal. Looking around, he saw a chain link fence surrounding a few buildings, complete with armed guards in body armor wielding military assault rifles, a sign that the food they were making was not something he could get his hands on. Armed security was common no matter where you were in old RSU, either the Ordenites, their pet loyalists, or any of the numerous militias that still claimed their corners of the world. It wasn't hard to slip between territory owned by either and end up dead just for being out of place. Something was different about this hovel through, a sense of calm on this desolate road. Others like him walking in and out of fences without a care, and that cross painted on the side of the entrance, it wasn't Union Orthodox or even the Facists version of Christianity, who were these...

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst, for they will be filled…”

The voice bellowed from behind Stefan, catching him off guard. Spinning around he found himself face to face with a man in a black suit, White Collar, and a rosary around his neck, smiling at him. The man was large, reminding Stefan of more a brick house than Preacher. The Preacher opened his arms and spoke again.

“Welcome. Please forgive my joke. We are with the Orthopraxis Church, would you like something to eat young man?”

Stefan looked back at the buildings, the smell of a stew wafting towards him, almost seducing him to come in without a second thought, but he hadn't lived this long without being suspicious.

“Why are you here? This close to New Impen is dangerous.”

“Well, our initial Mission was to set up in New Impen, but after the, well, the bomb, we felt it was safer to set up here and spread the word to anyone passing by. We were just outside of the city when it happened. That was, not a good day.”

“Didn't you aid the survivors?”

“At first we did, there were hundreds, thousands, but we could only save a few. We still get the occasional escaped laborer, sick from the radiation. Most are only looking for a few peaceful days before passing on. We've buried the ones we've can, but in those early days we had to be worried about second hand radiation ourselves. The original Mission is a few dozen kilometers south of here. We had to leave it as the graves were no longer safe to be around. What about you, what brings you here young man? I don't think you're looking for last rites today.”

“Don't the fascists come looking for them? The escapes I mean. Don't you get in trouble for giving the escapees aide?”

“Some, but the Ordenites don't harass the Orthopraxis church too much. We stay out of their way and try to stay neutral in all conflicts. We care for all of God's children, Ordenites included. Even Ordenites find it difficult to be abrasive when you saved their comrade in arms. That, and our numbers swell every day as more find God. The Order of the Guards keeps the peace otherwise.”

“Order of the Guards, I thought Jesus was against killing.”

“He is, very much so, and take heed when people say otherwise. The Order of the Guards are, a complex Order, but they made a deal with God, and made their vows. It is up to us to be the good on this Earth, worthy of their protection, but we can talk more inside. Dinner is almost ready, and we have a seat at the table if you would like.”

Stefan took a bowl and the young lady poured some dinner. It was a simple stew, potatoes and cabbage, some vegetables and bits of what might be rabbit, maybe dog. Another server gave him a piece of bread and he followed the Preacher to a table. The stew was by no means an impressive meal, but it was still more than he had eaten in a long time. As Stefan devoured, the Preacher spoke and Stefan was smart enough to nod and agree at the appropriate moments. He could play the part of potential convert, but the truth was, Stefan had given up on God a long time ago. He continued to nod and lean in at the appropriate moments, until the Preacher’s voice dropped from its passionate bass, to a monotone verbal recitation as his eyes looked towards the door. Stefan looked behind him and saw a large Zvezdan man, almost as big as the Preacher, bandoleers across his chest and feathers in his hair, with leather goods hanging from his sides. Between the Zvedan and the door stood one of the armed security guards.

‘Excuse me Toren.” The Preacher said as he stood up and headed towards the door, using the fake name Stefan gave him. The Preacer padded the guard on the shoulder, taking his place between the Zvedan and the door, with the Guard off to the side. They spoke quietly, but Stefan listened as intently as he could from this distance. The Preacher spoke first:

“I am sorry, but the Serpent isn't welcome in the house of God.”

“I thought you tended to All of God’s children, Padre?”

“YOU have chosen to follow the Serpent, YOU have chosen to leave the flock of your own will. Unless you are here to repent, I cannot do more for you. Please, be gone.”

“So you take our food and tell us to be on our way, Padre?”

“We shared that harvest like we do all harvests, but I will not allow the Serpent to tempt the needy away from God. Be gone.”

The Zvezdan looked at the Preacher, then the Guard, scanning the room for a minute and noticing Stefan looking at him. He nodded to the Preacher, and turned to leave.

“Glad the Pact remains, Orthopraxis.”

“Even Pagans can be saved.” The Preacher retorted, watching the man walk away.

When Stefan left, he found himself ideally looking for the big Zvedan man, wondering if it was a bad idea. It was of course a bad idea. Following strangers in this part of the country could easily result in a early grave. The Zvedan didn't seem like the type to rob, he had a different look in his eye. Stefan had learned to reconize those who are just looking for a mark, but this guy seemed like he wanted something different. Stefan was just about to give up when sudden knife against his neck and hand under his chin only confirmed this was a terrible choice:

“Shouldn't be looking for people, you don't know whose friendly.” The large Zvedan held Stefan with one hand under his chin, the other pressed the blade into his neck, just shy of the force needed to break skin

“I don’t want any trouble sir. I just… take what you want. I don't have much.”

“You were at the church, weren't ya? You the praying type boy?” The Zvedan mocked.

“Have you looked around, what kind of God would leave us here?”

The grip around Stefan's neck loosened as the Zvezdan spun him around and grabbed him by the back of the head. The knife was no longer pressed against his neck, but clearly near his face and in sight.

“You're right, what kind of God would do this. These folks worship the same useless God as the Fascists. Fuck these Christian types. The all promise eternal happiness as long as you grovel and serve in life. Why don't I tell you about a religion that actually gives a shit about you while you are alive, one that wants you strong and powerful. One that rewards you now, and later."

“... And if I refuse?”

The large Zvezdan motioned towards the knife. “Then perhaps the Feathered Serpent guided me to you today only because he wanted a sacrifice.”

Stefan looked at the knife, and just behind it towards the the leather goods the man carried. It finally dawned on him, the leather wasn't cow, nor any other animal that he could think of. The leather was made from humans, human faces, carried by the man as trophies of war. He had found the Naztoc-Lec

St.Paul, Reichskommissariat Zvezda.

Stevidian Catholicism had a extended history in Krasnova as Stevidian explorers and Stevidian Catholic priests who spread the faith to masses of people which soon sprung the Stevidian Catholic faith in Krasnova the 2nd most prominent religion aside from the Orthodox. Over history the Stevidian Catholic influence in the island became insignificant compared to the Orthodox faith in which the majority who believed in a god called themselves. The Ordenite Reich upon it's conquest of the Unified Eastern Star Soviets and it's elimination of the Krasnovan Republic, they enforced what was called the "Limited Religious Freedom Act" and dictated that Stevidian Catholics as a whole were traitors to their motherland and were foreign spies from the Stevidian Crown to cause chaos. The bells tolled in Cathedrals and churches predominantly Stevidian Catholic in faith they prayed and prayed for their safety. St Paul and St Pyter were obviously going to be affected as the majority of Stevidian Catholics resided in the two cities. Reich Main Security Office officials soon met with both cities civil administrations and hashed out how the Catholics were to be rounded up for their fate in the camps. The 80th and 89th armies Einatzgruppen were relayed instructions on what to do and communicated their plans to the Auxiliary Police and the local Selbschutz battalion as the lives of over 100 million Catholics were going to be drastically changed. A major operation termed by the Einatzgruppen and security forces as OPERATION DETHRONED had been drawn up for this very moment and was put into action. Prominent Catholic neighborhoods and areas were stormed by Auxiliary Police units in numbers as they were followed in by the Selbschutz battalions and their soldiers. It had almost caused a general panic as Auxiliary Police and Selbschutz soldiers began rounding up hundreds of people at a time and marching them to staging areas for transportation. Several Einatzkommando units were deployed and assisted in the mass arrests, sending some to the hospital badly beaten by the obvious over use of force by their occupiers. Church property was seized by the authorities as the owners were arrested as well. The removal of Stevidian Catholics from society would need time as their numbers would take possibly months to move at once. Thousands of people were moved out of the city and to staging areas where they were transported to concentration camps on the island which numbered many now. Rakovo concentration camp was a likely destination for many of the detained Catholics, where they would likely suffer under the boot of the Ordenite SS guards.

Many other concentration camps such as Rakovo were newly sprouting and were eager for a influx of prisoners. Priests and influential clergy members were segregated from the others in 'special blocks' in the camps where they would be held for the time being, however it had been rumored that they were to soon be executed. Krasnovan Army regulars also began to show up in the city with their armored vehicles and even tanks as rumors had circulated about a possible catholic rebellion in response to the persecutions. It only showed that evidently no one was safe in the new unified Krasnova and that all would suffer under the boot of the Ordenites. The same was also occurring in St Pyter as well as persons in Catholic neighborhoods and areas were arrested, church property was seized and figures in the Stevidian Catholic communities in the city were also arrested and being persecuted.

Ernst Grasemann smiled. "Millions. Castillians, Guffingford Panoolies, even Macabeans. All of them are already becoming productive members of our Reich, they serve in the Wehrmacht mostly or in the Labor service like any good Ordenite would." He picked up a glass of water and took a sip before putting it down. "They are not a waste, they too want the same dream as we all do." He added before pondering on the offer made by Viktor for a possible contact within the Morridane intelligence services as it was indeed appealing. However he would get down to business straight away on what the Reich wanted more.

"Tuktar. You know better than anyone in the Commenwealth, even in the region. That the Reich desires Tuktar to be released into the hands of the General Governorate, that city was stolen from us. Your people stole it from us, then threw it in our faces in those elections. When the Commenwealth should of left the island like their allies did before them when the war ended, but here we are instead."

KZ Helmerkamp, Northern Krasnova.

For as long as the Krasnovan Republic had existed in the recent decade it had been home to various concentration and labor camps that even after the 2nd Krasnovan war, still were in operation in the absence of the Ordenite Reich. So when the Reich returned in 2029 and furthermore replaced the Republic as the regime that ruled over Western Krasnova, these camps and facilities were once again under the control of the SS 'Death Head' organization which as part of the greater Ordenite SS, maintained responsibility over the administration and operation of all camp functions in the Reich. When the Reich had first come to occupy much of the island it had established in the timeline of it's first occupation over 12 concentration camps and 60 labor camps which would become the foundation of what was to come for those deemed as enemies of the Volksgenosse. Helmerkamp would be one of the first that were constructed and opened as a concentration camp in 2026 it had swelled quickly to over 50,000 incarcerated persons mostly being communists and other political prisoners. The camp would grow even more as they by the end of the year accumulated over 200,000 people and had branched out from the main camp and into several sub-camps which would serve similar purposes as the main one. Even during the 2nd Krasnovan War, Helmerkamp still was in operation and it's over 200,000 prisoners continued to toil their lives away in harsh conditions. When it had begun to look like the front lines would encompass the major city of Yukar, the Kommandant of the concentration camp had gone the first steps to beginning to liquidate the prisoners they had as they feared a possible liberation by the coalition fighting against them. When the war came to an unfavorable end in 2028, a covert deal was made between the Ordenite SS and the Republic that allowed the safety of it's facilities and personnel from prosecution. Tens of thousands had already perished in the horrible conditions they were confined in, mostly done by the guards themselves. A annual calculation of the fatality rate noted the current total of prisoners who had died since the opening of Helmerkamp to be at over 45,000 persons.

The sound of a bugle horn radiated across the Helmerkamp grounds and it's prisoner barracks as persons clad in black and white striped garments flooded out of their barracks. It was time for roll call as in a orderly fashion the prisoners marched in quick time to the parade grounds where they would line up for roll call. SS guards armed with batons urged them on and made sure no one was out of step as those that were, were pulled out and beaten on the spot before being put back in line. In watchtowers the sharpshooters and machine gunners watched the commotion down below with trained eyes, they had shot people before during this time mostly due to outbursts from prisoners. Formations were made on the open space as the prisoners got into columns but stood freely and not at attention, they would stand there for ten minutes before a voice would come through the speakers that were posted on poles posted throughout the camp.

"Prisoners, please remain where you are as we conduct roll call. All who do not heed will be flogged." This sent a tingle in their spines for many who had been flogged in the past for disobedience or out of cruelty by the guards themselves. Numbers were called out by the speakers as each batch of numbers would represent a prisoner that was hopefully standing with his fellow prisoners. Barracks would be searched by guards themselves and on occasion several prisoners who tried to miss roll call for whatever reason were flogged and then put in solitary confinement which consisted of a 'hard bed' which was a bed made of metal accommodated by a blanket and a pillow, a toilet and sink were also inside however they were essentially confined in a box with a hard metal door. They were generally fed less than the normal prisoner and were left in their confinement usually for weeks on end. Flogging was also a favorite punishment of the SS guards as the flogging would be done with a whip as the prisoner would be tied against a pole and flogged at least 25 times, often leaving open wounds and horrible scarring. It went on for almost an hour before the complete roll call was done as the SS guards began moving them along as a whistle sounded and the prisoners were marched off the parade grounds and back to their barracks. The barracks from the outside looked like any other sort of barracks but on the inside it was a more desperate situation. Prisoners were often crammed in these barracks with many not even having a bunk for themselves and resort to sleeping on the ground. The summer now coming to full effect the conditions were nearly unbearable during the day as the heat would take effect on them as the barracks themselves had no proper air conditioning but the windows which had no glass panels and were decorated in barbwire.

Families generally tended to stick among themselves in the barracks, however the people in their barracks would do everything together from showering to also using the outhouse and living with each other. The Helmerkamp hosted over 60,000 prisoners who were primarily Krasnovan and Zvezdan, however their were some who were of Morridane, Lamonian, and Stevidian origin who had a entire barracks to themselves and were generally isolated from the general population. It was not uncommon to have foreign prisoners in the concentration camps as of recently, as they had been moved from their original POW camp and were moved to Concentration camps like Helmerkamp in the West. It was estimated that over 32,000 foreign prisoners of war were captured during the 2nd Krasnovan War with the majority being Mokan and Morridane soldiers, however their were also Stevidian and Lamonian prisoners included as well. They were of course spread out among the many concentration camps usually in the hundreds at a time throughout the many camps on the island, Helmerkamp had only 400 foreign prisoners, many of them were Morridane, Lamonian and Stevidian who had already been in Helmerkamp for at least 6 months since they first arrived by train car. Most of the day would be utilized as 'work time' as the prisoners were also laborers, they were generally utilized for work in factories nearby that depended on their numbers. Prisoners were routinely given physical and medical exams to ensure if they were fit to work and were tested by camp doctors, primarily ones from the SS who were cold in their practice. Those that were deemed unfit were euthanized by the doctors and cremated at the on-site crematorium that was manned by selected prisoners and watched over by SS guards. It was a fate that none of the prisoners wanted but it happened time and time again as they were subjected to these sorts of conditions. Many more would soon join them in other Concentration camps across the island as the Reich did it's work.

Viktor took a drag on his cigarette and then exhaled slowly, almost sounding like a sigh. "Ah, yes...I'd expected that our little would turn to territorial concessions sooner or later."

"As I understand it, the Free State has become critical to Commonwealth military planning as a key transit point. That is something that I'll wish to retain as certain nations within thus region will not be as friendly as they once were."

"You want Tuktar, I want basing rights there as well as the Reich's support in taking the Morridane crown."

Ernst Grasemann leaned forward in his chair as he looked at Viktor Cathmore. "Well if it is you on the throne then I can assure you myself that the Reich will be willing to mend relations with a Commonwealth reborn." He sat back in his chair after saying those words. This would be a strategic investment and a very gutsy move in supporting a illegitimate heir to the throne who was cheated out of his chance to become the head royalty and instead embarrassed as being replaced by a woman. The risk was there, If Cathmore seized the throne and it was realized that Ordenite support is there then it would be the Mokans who would strike first and then Imbrimium. How would the Reich its self be able to support this move physically? The Mokans would attempt to sink any Ordenite vessel especially naval vessels heading towards Morrdh which would mean sending actual soldiers or supplies would be near impossible and possibly spark another war, that the Reich was not looking to fight again.

"You will get the Reich's support but we cannot bear to aid your struggle with the Wehrmacht, the threat that would come to any Ordenite force deep in Eastern Dienstad would be too great." Grasemann added as he waited for anything else that his guest wanted to finalize.

Somewhere near Chernaya,
Reichskommissariat East.

It had been a long decade for the Krasno-Scythian resistance movement referred to as the General Military Council of Salamist Revolutionaries and had been fighting as a resistance movement since 1979 with several prolonged and bloody wars with the communist regime as their religion had been targeted and persecuted by them. The Ordenite Reich was no different and the fight was brought to them as well, men were lost on both side and the GMCSR proved to be a dangerous enemy. It had been rumored many times that the leadership were native Scythians and that they led this resistance back in Scythia while having clergy members of the Salamist faith be their representatives in Krasnova. The group had several militias that all together made up the GMCSR in total which was estimated to stand at over 87,000 fighters. They were mostly concentrated in the area of Chernaya and even further west near Pezlevko and Rubino which were now a Satrapy of the Golden Throne. Chernaya its self was considered 'autonomous' and a self proclaimed Kysetian state which the fundamentalists didn't agree with and had fought time and time again. Car bombings and suicide bombings are at it's highest in that part of the island as members of the organization regularly and willingly accepted that they wanted to be a martyr to their cause and would blow themselves up and others for their eternal paradise. They now primarily harass and attack Ordenite soldiers and it's allies but also do skirmish with Kysetian and Macabean security forces on the frontier of the Satrapy. As of late their was a lot of Ordenite military activity around Chernaya as it's autonomous status meant that it too was a potential conventional enemy and would have the Ordenite Army guarding it's new borders. The major highways leading through Chernaya were also a ripe place for Ordenite victims as supply convoys were common along with general military traffic.

A dead deer carcass had been left on the side of the highway to rot as its stomach had been torn open and it's insides on full display. Flies buzzed around the dead animal as other insects feasted on the decaying corpse, however the dead animal had explosives placed inside of it and would be triggered by cell phone. A group of fighters had assembled near by and were waiting for their target which was a approaching convoy of trucks and armored vehicle in which all of them were Ordenite and carried Ordenite personnel. It appeared to be a column carrying mostly reservists and were heading down the highway and likely towards a major base of the Ordenite Army which made their presence felt outside of the city. A whole battalion was making it's way down the highway and was poised to pass through the ambush point in under ten minutes as the fighters got into makeshift positions along the highway. The lead vehicle in the convoy was a simple Sonderkraftfahrzeug which meant 'special mobility vehicle' that were commonly used by reconnaissance elements for Ordenite Army units such as this one. A belt fed machine gun was mounted on top as it's gunner was in a relaxed position with no reason for being in a state of alert, the reconnaissance element had not been tipped off on any suspicious activity on their route towards their destination and their convoy was expected to have a comfortable uneventful ride. A fresh dead deer carcass was up ahead on the side of the highway however this brought no concern to the lead vehicle or anyone else for that matter as they rode past it. The explosion that followed was deafening as visibility following it dropped rapidly as smoke and debris filled the air, the lead vehicle had been caught directly in the blast which had sent it flipping over onto it's side in one burning husk of what use to be a recon vehicle.

The vehicle behind it which was a Schützenpanzerwagen and the standard armored troop carrier came to a abrupt halt and was rocked by two successive rocket propelled grenades. Gun fire erupted as the battalion had fallen into a trap and were now being attacked from both sides of the stretch of highway they were on. Infantry came scrambling out of their vehicles as they were peppered with bullets by light machine guns and assault rifles. Additional rocket propelled grenades struck lighter transport trucks which would go up in flames along with whoever or whatever was in them as the volume of fire the battalion was receiving had caught them completely off guard. Plumes of black smoke from burning vehicles left Ordenite infantry caught in the ambush with little visibility of their enemy, wherever they happened to be as all they could gather were guesses by where the gunfire was coming from. The stretch of highway that the ambush had covered was already seeing bodies that had been gunned down or caught in the explosions of their own vehicles being hit by rockets. Vehicles were left ablaze in flames and smoke as what remained of the battalion attempted to either continue fighting or ran away from the fighting if they could. As it was seen that the damage had been done by the ambush and with worry on their positions being discovered because of the attack by aerial elements, the fighters began a staggered retreat out of the area. UAVs had been present in the latter half of the ambush as the plumes of smoke had been seen by fellow Ordenite Army positions further down the highway. The attackers would slowly melt back into the forests with a victory fresh on their minds.

"I thought you'd might be cautious with risking the mighty Wehrmacht in this endeavour." Viktor replied, pausing for another drag on his cigarette. "So let me have volunteers."

"A militarized state like yours must have plenty of reservists who've done their time but want to serve their Fatherland?" Asked Viktor. "Men like those would be the perfect commanders, plus I'll need them to keep the lower ranks in line."

"Likewise, I'm going to need grunts and cannon fodder. Those camps of yours would be prime recruitment grounds, I imagine many would be desperate enough to sing-up if only on a slim glimmer of hope for better conditions. I'm sure your government wouldn't lose any sleep if they get cut down in their doves by Morridane or even Mokan bullets, if anything I'm sure it'll save you wasting your own ammunition."

"As brash as the Mokans are, but even they wouldn't be so rash to risk a war with a major ally by attacking vessels sailing under a Commonwealth flag. Yes the Imbriniums are equally brash, if not more so, but they could probably be kept sweet enough by not endangering their position in Mordent. But do not take that as me dismissing them as...problematic, I do have incentives in mind to discourage them from taking hostile actions."

Sterlya, Port of Kirov,
Reichskommissariat West.

The Port of Kirov was one of many ports of it's kind that stretched down the coastline and as part of the greater City of Sterlya which was one of the busiest cities on the island in terms of commercial and military traffic. From the Ports one could see the vastness that was the Red Sea and with that vastness came with it the warships and vessels alike of the Kriegsmarine and the Merchant marine who according to the official shore establishment set up by the Kriegsmarine, labeled the Red Sea as a Naval district under the wider Naval Region Crown which essentially encompasses the Sea of Crowns and the waters from it all the way to the Red Sea. The Port itself was made up of 2 wharves from which vessels from either the Kriegsmarine or Merchant Marine could dock at port and with the Port's location along the western coastline of the island, It made the Port a very busy place as It had been recently with the troop surge that had come as part of a build-up for Krasnova as a strategic location for the Ordenite Wehrmacht. It was nothing new as rotations between Ordenite soldiers on the island and their comrades back home had been introduced shortly after the fall of the UESS, allowing a controlled number to be rotated in and out. For the moment the Supreme Command of the Wehrmacht has wanted to see troop numbers rise to the pre-second Krasnovan war numbers which were around 25,000,000. The current garrisoning Ordenite force was only at a mere 10,000,000 now with the recent troop surges but the number was growing steadily as the amount of troops arriving in Krasnova only began to grow. This of course was nothing new to the island as infrastructure meant to support the rise in Ordenite forces had been being constructed for months now by Krasnovan and Zvezdan laborers in the Reich Labor Service. Of course their was enough infrastructure to support plenty of the Ordenite Army and Waffen-SS but those in the High Commands of the Army and Wehrmacht its self were envisioning to see an Ordenite garrison of over 40,000,000 which would dwarf even the Krasnovan Army who only stood currently at almost 9,000,000. There was also the planning and talks on the fortifying of the Zvezdan penninsula as it could overlook the Zvezdan Bay and the Greali Sea which covered much of what the Wehrmacht considered likely avenues of attack for nearby enemies of the Reich, primarily the Commenwealth, Lyran Protectorate and the Peoples Unified Federation.

What supplies and troops did come through the Port would soon see it self be transported out of the city and headed off somewhere further east where they were needed most. The frontier with the Pezlevko-Rubino Satrapy and the autonomous self-proclaimed Kysetian Republic could be seen at least from the Krasnovan side as light fortifications and strong points manned by two field armies from the 32nd Heeresgruppe could be made out in the distance. While tensions are at a all time low since the end of the 2nd Krasnovan War, animosity still existed over the way the Golden Throne seized the twin cities and carved out a territory for its self and essentially became a thorn in the side for the defense during that time. The 84th and 81st Armies combined meant that just over 300,000 soldiers of the Ordenite Army manned the frontier opposite of the Ejermacht who were slowly fortifying their side of the frontier as was expected, however the frontier was not the upmost concern for the Wehrmacht. Supplies and materials from the Merchant marine and the Kriegsmarine regularly stopped at Fedorograd to offload their cargo that would make its way to the Ordenite armies garrisoning what was theirs, one could also not neglect the build up of the Kriermada off the coast of the Satrapy as it had been replenishing its strength and only getting stronger. Of course the Kriegsmarine were also strong if not stronger than their neighbors in the satrapy as could be seen by the Red Sea Fleet and the Greali Sea Fleet in which both were estimated to consist of just shy of 3,000 vessels. Of course this number was not permanent and over time would only swell as the rest of the Wehrmacht in Krasnova would do as well, who knew what could spark the next conflict especially one that could once again drag the island back into war.

Much of the Port facilities and the city of Sterlya its self was under the watchful eye and guard of the Ordenite Selbschutz who in organizational terms were coined as individual garrison units part of the greater Reichskommissariat they were based in. They were organized, funded and armed just enough that they could at least keep the populations they watched over in line with local law. In light of recent events that had been going on with a rising new insurgency and increased levels of violence, the Selbschutz across the island had been bolstered and equipped with better weaponry and man-power along with the Auxiliary Police. That were to now work along side the Selbschutz to better combat the new threat. In the past months since the tightening of security and control across the island by the Selbschutz and Auxiliary Police, several crack downs and arrests of hundreds of people in the process seemed to have quelled much of the violence that seemed to be creeping up across the island for now. Much of the law enforcement and security forces and operations were now under the direct control of the Reich Main Security Office which ultimately are and answer to the Ordenite Schutzstaffel which in modern time is a crucial aspect of National Security for the Greater Ordenite Realm.

Ol'khovka,
Reichskommissariat West.

Ludomir Stepanov stood at the forefront of a crowd of tens of thousands in the downtown area of Ol'khovka the now proclaimed capitol of the Free Krasnovan State. Standing in his all black almost military attire with the only color being the armband representing the Krasnovan National Socialist Party. Ludomir was a proud member of his political party and it's prime chosen candidate to become the new Civil Administrator of the Free Krasnovan State in which he had been chosen for his role as Civil Administrator. In a vote between the Reichskommissars and the KNSP which had narrowed things down to 5 potential candidates that were preferred due to their loyalty to the current Reich Protektor of the entirety of Krasnova, Stepanov had been chosen. In the past months the entirety of what was now the Free Krasnovan State had been coming together as orchestrated by their Ordenite leaders from the Reich. It was then that the Reich Protektor had convened with his Reichskommissars and the KNSP for the official announcement of annexation plans that were to be carried through by the Ordenite Reich in regards to Krasnova as a whole. The entirety of the island's coastal areas along with the areas bordering both the Free State of Tuktar and the Pezlevko-Rubino Satrapy would be officially annexed by the Ordenite Reich completely. While the interior would be placed under the confidence and government of the Free Krasnovan State which was for all intents and purposes simply a newly formed puppet regime that would take the load off of governing and administering the entirety of Krasnova by the Reich. The remainder of the government were filled with long time loyalists and collaborators that lived through the wars and the former Krasnovan Republic. Ludomir had already been able to meet with members of the new government that he would now be at the head of and responsible for, a responsibility he was honored to be graced with by the Ordenite Reich. Alongside him was the patriarch of the Krasnovan National Socialist Party and it's Chairman, Ivan Baskarov who dressed in the same all black attire too and had put his vote and confidence into Stepanov to become the new Civil Administrator.

"Congratulations, Stepanov. I knew the Ordenites would see it our way and put you as the Civil Administrator of our nation." Baskarov commented as the two looked at each other for a moment. Stepanov released a smile from his lips as he shook hands with his equal.

"Krasnova will be reborn in our image, Ivan." He said simply as standing beside Baskarov were the fellow Reichskommissars all of who were ethnic Ordenite and simply nodded towards the two as they all stood side by side. Ludomir stepped forward to a waiting podium with a microphone, the area was draped in the colors of the Free Krasnovan State and it's national flag. The Free Krasnovan State was already churning with objectives and plans that were to be carried out for the interior as a whole. Some were for the expansion of the labor force on the island as in current records over 200 million Krasnovans were considered laborers under the Ordenite occupational regime with less than half being laborers who were not in a concentration or forced labor camp regime. As of the creation of the Free Krasnovan State, the Reich had convened that they desired a plentiful and healthy supply of laborers for duties mostly concerning infrastructure and public works. The Reich Labor Service would play there part in the acquirement of millions of Krasnovans and Zvezdans for this purpose as they offered them better pay and housing in return for their commitment which was an offer not many turned down.

Ivanovka,
Office of the Reich Protektor,
Ordenite Krasnova.

Burkjard Bayerlein stood in his office in the upper story floor of what was formerly a local headquarters for the former Union Communist Party. It had seen renovation in the years following the ousting of the Red Star Union from most of Krasnova almost a decade ago. Flags and banners of all sorts could be seen for miles around within Ivanovka the new de-facto provincial capitol for the Ordenite Reich's newly formed Reicsgau Krasnova. He observed the scenery below him as people carried on with their lives despite being under the rule of a nation that considered most of them unworthy of life. He would for the mean time be one of the top authority figures over watching the over three hundred million Krasnovans, Zvezdans and Kysetians that called what was now Reichsgau Krasnova home. However in the future those hundreds of millions would be essentially deported from their homes with only what the individual family could carry themselves and relocate to the Free Krasnovan State. All played a role into the new overall strategy the Ordenite Reich were now using in regards to governing and influencing Krasnova as a whole. The Free Krasnovan State had been created both as a dependent allied puppet regime for the economic and geopolitical gain of the Ordenite Reich but also as the now permanent homeland of the indigenous peoples. However unlike the Krasnovans and the Zvezdans, the Kysetians would be allowed the freedom to leave as they pleased to the Satrapy as refugees. Due to the more than friendly relations between the Ordenite Reich and the Kysetians in which the former enjoyed listing their services for security and suppression while the latter enjoyed their payments. Upwards of 200,000 Kysetians were currently under contract outside of the Satrapy and within the territorial domain of the Ordenites. Their services mostly went towards counter insurgency efforts revolving around locating the enemy that was to be destroyed, while others were contracted as guards in labor camps and other facilities. Many also became bodyguards for key officials and civil servants now in both Reichsgau Krasnova and the Free Krasnovan State.

The Ordenite Army on the island were already beginning to re-deploy and either add additional facilities or expand others. While the Free Krasnovan State was technically autonomous in nature, the Ordenite Wehrmacht were able to keep a smaller garrison sized force within the interior. An entire Heeresgruppe would remain within the Free Krasnovan State and would be a token force that would train and commit to military operations alongside the FKS's armed forces. The Ordenite-SS would also continue to operate across the island including within the Free Krasnovan State along with all other Ordenite related organizations and agencies representing the interests of the Ordenite national government and party. This would also mean that the Ministry of State Security for the Free Krasnovan State would still in most circumstances take orders ultimately from the Ordenite-SS before even their own government. Much of the Free Krasnovan State's government ministries and organs while technically considered and worded as autonomous, are truly still under the firm control and influence from the Ordenite Reich. Reich Protektor Bayerlein who not only was the Reich Protektor as of now but also the acting Gauleiter representing what was now Reichsgau Krasnova as a legitimate region and or province part of the greater Reich.

Sitting down at his desk he took in the workload of documents of all sorts that he would need to look at and possibly respond to as a person of his rank. Every now and then someone would need to speak to him either through telephone or in person inside his own office. Most were from the Ordenite National Socialist Party and were organizing the Party structure for the newly formed Reichsgau Krasnova that would need to be done in their very own fashion. Reports were read with some being in relation to the activities being conducted under the Coordination order that had been put into effect by no other than Bayerlein himself. All aspects of local government and law in the now annexed areas were now being adjusted to meet Ordenite standards. Bayerlein had first enlisted with the Waffen-SS when he was able to do so out of basic training. H through his 12 year service in the Waffen-SS allowed him to become SS-Sturmbannführer before honorably retiring out of the military all together and more into the General-SS with the SS-Main Office. Bayerlein was able to enter as an completely new intern to the Department of Germanic Control which handled the proliferation of propaganda and recruitment in areas under the possession of by the Greater Ordenite Reich.

He still had his duties to the General-SS to contend to on top of what was already facing him as the title holder of the Reich Protektor and also Gaulieter of Reichsgau Krasnova. Reports had come from a multitude of recruitment facilities and stations for able bodied men to be recruited into the Waffen-SS, that over 800,000 basic recruits are former prisoners of war and part of the defeated Union Red Army and it's Armed Forces. These new recruits would be filtered through with additional personnel and procedures that would determine if they were within the law to enlist into the Waffen-SS. Any recruits who didn't satisfy a racial law or procedure are considered to have failed the recruitment process and must complete their conscription order in the Free Krasnovan State's Army. Those that passed the initial screenings were then introduced to what life for the next 16 weeks would consist of to finish and complete the entrance course. They would be heavily regimented and well versed in getting into combat under stressful situations, and would over all be considered a soldat within the Waffen-SS and then would be assigned to a unit.

"Gaulieter Bayerlein, sir! A visitor wishes to see you." A sentry posted outside Bayerlein's personnel office alerted him of as Bayerlein waved his hand to him. The sentry saluted and nodded firmly before leaving the room to escort the visitor to his office. Several minutes passed before the sentry returned and with him was an individual from the Inland-SD who answered to the Reich Main Security Office.

"Herr Bayerlein, A pleasure to see you again, sir." The Inland-SD Obersturmführer said as he gave the infamous party salute and clicked his heels as he was a subordinate compared to Sturmbannfuhrer and Gaulieter Bayerlein. He rose from his seat and returned the party salute to the Obersturmfuhrer before he offered him the seat in front of him. He took the invitation and sat down with Bayerlein in his office as the two came into a deep conversation in the matter of their duties.

"The relocations for the indigenous population residing in the Reichsgau is under way and is projected to be completed in the next 11 months for all three hundred million to be relocated into the Free Krasnovan State. I have also heard that the Ethnic Ordenite population will be relocated into the Reichsgau alongside any arriving settlers or colonists from the homeland."

Bayerlein nodded slowly as he said, "Will their be any issue with relocating our own into the Reichsgau?" he asked as the Obersturmfuhrer shook his head confidently.

"While it is projected that only 11 months would be needed to relocate the already 300,000,000 indeginous from the new Reichsgau. It will take over a year or even two to successfully relocate the entire population." He said as he was offered a drink from a Zvezdan servant girl. He caressed the girl's hair for a moment as he accepted the drink and signaled her to leave.

Chernaya,
Kysetian-Autonomous Region.

Since the end of the Third Krasnovan War and the agreement between Kysetian leaders and Ordenite diplomats upon the creation of the Kysetian autonomous region centered around Chernaya. The region was left to it's own devices as was agreed upon and life continued as normal for the autonomous city state. This followed with improving and strengthening it's relations and ties with the Imperial Satrapy of Pezlevko-Rubino in which most of what is referred to as the 'Kysetian Host' resides within, co-existing with Imperial authorities. Due to the mercenary like contracting that appeals so much to Kysetians most would be swiftly hired by the Second Empire themselves and then sent off to the near-by Satrapy of New Empire. Soon enough this would leave a clear security vacuum for the autonomous region as able bodied and well armed Kysetians were being contracted in large numbers to go overseas under contract for the Golden Throne. The constant fear was always present that one day tragedy could strike and the Ordenites across the frontier would come for these lands again as they attempted to during the opening stages of the Third Krasnovan War. Many however shrugged off the possibility of such a scenario and put their trust that the Kysetian Host in the neighboring Satrapy would surely come to their aid as they were going to do during the previous war before the agreement was made official. This false sense of security would soon come crashing down as rumors and news came to those within the region that the Ordenites were annexing the coastal and frontier areas and that Chernaya was also included to be annexed into the Reich. Panic soon came as some in the autonomous region began to preemptively flee into the Satrapy before the Reich decided to send it's armies to take the region back. Kysetian leaders in Chernaya its self attempted to call diplomats of the Reich to negotiate and question the annexation motives but they received no responses from any of the official channels.

Conscription was enforced soon after as able bodied citizens in the region were called to arms for the defense of their city state from a possible Ordenite attack. All of this had been carefully monitored and reported back to Abwehr officers and personnel for dissection. Since the creation of the autonomous region, the Ordenite Wehrmacht and it's intelligence branch had made sure that it could still keep an eye and ear on the activities of the Kysetians in Chernaya. Through long range reconnaissance, spies and SIGINT activites the Abwehr were able to update the Army Command in Yukar on perhaps the weakest point in time for the city state. Now with the annexation of not only the coastal and frontier areas but also the Chernaya autonomous region, the Wehrmacht were left with the green-light to take the city state back through force. The Army Command through official channels with the Supreme Command of the Army were authorized to mobilize and deploy the near entirety of the 46th Heeresgruppe to complete the task. The tip of the spear for the Heeresgruppe would be the 127th Panzer Army who would thrust into the autonomous region and cut off the city its self from both the Frontier and the rest of the region. Additional armies would also sweep through to secure the rest of the frontier with the Satrapy and Chernaya its self with what was hoped to be minimal resistance.

Before the break of dawn while the sun was still in slumber the 46th Heeresgruppe made it's moves with calculated coordination and precision. The 127th Panzer Army broke through the forestry north of the city and began to swoop and envelop it as it swept away what resistance if any could be mounted against them. Armed helicopters and fighter jets flew about just shy of the city limits of Chernaya its self as Grenadier and Panzergrenadier divisions also began to swoop into the previously autonomous region and into the villages and towns. Most residents only watched as Ordenite tanks and mechanized troops entered their communities and essentially took over themselves. Any and all Kysetians were then to be rounded up by Ordenite soldiers and temporarily detained until it was clear that the region and most importantly the city was secured. What conscripts the Kysetian leadership had raised throughout their region either surrendered without so much as a fight or were captured by surprise as Ordenite mechanized forces moved swiftly and overcame everyone with unchallenged speed.

In the morning hours the 46th Heeresgruppe had or were going to complete much of their tactical objectives. This came with some incidents as pockets of resistance had sprung up and attempted to challenge the Ordenites but were cut down or captured without so much as a single loss for the Army. By the afternoon much of the southern portions of the autonomous region neighboring the frontier were under the firm control of the Ordenite Army and elements of the Security Police and the Selbschutz were already combing the populace for Kysetians that were destined to be forcibly deported across the Frontier or hostile elements. The real fighting was near the city of Chernaya its self as the 127th Panzer Army had once enveloping the city, faced numerous counter-attacks and break-out attempts from determined Kysetian defenders. This was mostly due to the fact that the Kysetians had set up several rings of defense for the city its self and were beginning to use them. While enveloping the city and for the most part repelling possible attackers from within coming to strike back, another field army had arrived and were going to press in and take Chernaya. The 144th Army would strike from the forests as well however instead of manning the encirclement that the Panzer army had created, the 114th Army would punch through. Attack helicopters and close air support aircraft swooped over the battlefield on the way to Chernaya launching missiles and rockets at the defenders.

What defenses could be taken out by the Luftwaffe would then be stormed by the Grenadiers and Panzergrenadiers of the 144th Army. Ordenite artillery also began to bombard the defenders positions with their array of calibers and guns as many of the defenders put in front of the Ordenites were either enveloped and destroyed or killed by the Luftwaffe or artillery. The fighting would continue into the rest of the current week as the Kysetians waged a stubborn and bloody war of attrition with the Ordenites, a battle they would ultimately lose. Many of the defenders also fought the Ordenite invaders with unconventional warfare as sharpshooters and hit and run attacks. Despite the resistance being put up on the outlying areas outside of Chernaya by Kysetian and conscript forces the Ordenites arrayed against them advanced on with purpose and precision. By the middle of the week the 114th Army had punched it's way through into the city its self and were engaging the defenders within the urban confines of Chernaya. The 127th Panzer Army would then begin to tighten it's envelopment around Chernaya as to not let anyone escape the city during the fighting. As the Ordenite Army fought its way through the city, it's desperate defenders began to surrender in droves after less than a week of fighting the Ordenite Army had broke their will to fight any longer. By the end of the week the last pockets of resistance were being broken down and Chernaya was declared secured by the Army Command and the flag of the Ordenite Reich once again flew above the city.

Einatzgruppen detachments from both the 114th and 127th armies began to round up any and all Kysetians both prisoners of war and civilians. A military administration was then put in charge of the former autonomous region until the deportations of the Kysetians from Chernaya were completed. Meanwhile the rest of the population was combed through by the Ordenite Army and arriving Security Police and Selbschutz forces rounding up who the Ordenite government and Party decreed as enemies and agitators. Soon enough following the deportations of the Kysetian population across the frontier, the rest of the native Krasnovan and Zvezdan population would then be moved over into the Free Krasnovan State. The remainder of the frontier with the Satrapy would be occupied by arriving formations from the 46th Heeresgruppe as border fortifications and defenses would be constructed on the now Ordenite side of the frontier.

Arkas 'Ter Jago,' Eastern Frontier of the Satrapy of Pezlevko-Rubino

Soldat Jansen looked west from out his tall guard tower which stood on the perimeter of the Frontier blockhouse. A group of Kysetians on their horses raised dust as they rode along the narrow dirt road that cut through the countryside like a not quite fully healed scar. They veered dangerously close to the border, especially for a time like this one.

The Ordenites had begun operations around Chernaya. Jansen didn't hear much about why anybody did anything, but the rumor coming through the grapevine was that they sought to consolidate their rule over Krasnova. The condemnation proposal submitted to and passed through the World Assembly's Security Council must have angered them or, at least, persuaded them of the safety in digging in lest another coalition form to push them off of the island again. Jansen shook his head, hoping that another war was not Willed. There were already enough wars, enough lands where he and his brothers were dying for one reason or another. He had had enough of it and if he could get away guarding the satrapy's Frontier for the remainder of his contract with the Ejermacht, he would. Compared to war zones like Drana and Theohuanacu, Pezlevko-Rubino was a paradise.

Still, he could not but feel the nerves crawl up his spine as he saw the thirty or so horsemen to the west. Captain had said to keep on eye on them, that they may try to cross the Frontier where they believe the guards the be the laxest. Of course, like most imperial soldiers posted in this enclave at one point or another, Jansen had fraternized plenty with the locals and he had allowed Kysetians to pass through in the past. Truth was, up to now, there was no trouble with allowing the Kysetians through, but by now they surely had a mental list of which guards were most amenable and which were most likely to deny a bribe. Jansen hoped the Kysetians didn't think him one of the former.

Jansen, Hernal Jansen from a town 32 kilometers northeast of Sidi Rezegh, came to Pezlevko-Rubino after a four-month combat tour in southern Theohuanacu. Deployed directly along the Palenque siege lines, they were the worst four months of his life. His nightmares were of Palenque, its narrow streets, and the sizzling sound of his friends' faces melting off. The chemical attacks left the deepest chasms, holes that Jansen wasn't sure he would ever be able to fill.

But at least here, in Pezlevko-Rubino, the soldier's life was one of relative peace.

"Do you think they are coming this way?" asked Shus, the soldat sharing guard duty on this tower on this night with Jansen. Shus was sixteen, three years younger than Jansen. Like the latter, he had already completed a four-month tour in Theohuanacu. Shus had fought in Tiwanaku, though. The two of them had first been posted together in the same unit only after, when the survivors of the Theohuanacu deployments were re-organized into new units. Both knew that eventually their futures lay in Gholgoth, on the bloodied island of Drana. But unlike Jansen, Shus yearned for combat.

Jansen shook his head. "I don't think they'll let them in that close. Look, over there," he answered, pointing to another dust cloud further to the north. "That's an interception column, it must be." Whatever it was, it was still too far to know for sure, but the Ejermacht had begun doing exactly that as soon as Ordenite operations were underway directly across the Frontier.

Perhaps fifteen minutes passed. The two soldiers standing guard on that perimeter tower watched in silence as the second dust cloud began to get closer. For their part, the Kysetians had veered slightly east, riding closer to the Frontier now. They were not on a joyride, it was clear now. They were looking to cross or were otherwise gathering intelligence.

Then the second cloud caught up. Four Type 52GT IFVs came into view, following the same road as the horsemen. One of the Kysetians looked back, but the others paid the armored patrol column little mind. This was nothing new to them. A GLI-23 roared overhead at low altitude, turning to adjust its flight path along the border so that it would not cross into Ordenite airspace. It disappeared as quickly as it had come, but the message was clear. The IFVs left the road shortly, tracking the Kysetians along a parallel route between the riders and the Frontier. The horsemen would not cross here.

Unperturbed, as if it had been their plan all along, the thirty riders smoothly turned west, disappearing only when they were too small to see on the low rising steppes.

"No trouble today, I suppose," said Jansen.

Shus sighed. "A shame, really. I would have loved a good gunfight, it's truly too boring around here these days. There's nothing to do but trade and talk with the locals, and I have tired of that already. But I suppose the Kysetians are too weak to fight, no? Most of 'em fighting in New Empire as we speak. Some of the veterans have told me stories. Cities build thousands of kilometers underground with dark, damp streets as narrow as a man's shoulders. Enemies who hide in the rock and attack from behind you." He laughed. "Personally, I can't wait. I figure we have another two or three months here and we'll be in New Empire ourselves."

"Perhaps," nodded Jansen. "For now, though, we can enjoy a day of peace."

If he was alone he would have let out a great breath in relief at that. Days of peace were days of life, he knew. Jansen, from the corner of his eye, caught Shus slowly taking his finger off the trigger. Even after the horrors he had had to see in Tiwanaku, where they said the fighting was as bad as it had been in Tlaloc during the last revolt, the kid still wanted more war, more violence, more death. Maybe the lad was still too young to understand. Or maybe Jansen was simply years above his age already. As Shus looked out at the countryside in disappointment, all Jansen could see were the faces of his comrades melting off.

— Dasch, New Empire

If it was not for the helmet, the thick, black smoke that permeated the air in such volume that one could not see farther than half-a-foot ahead of him would have choked him. Ergi Suleymanoglu, a stárshiy serzhánt in his horde, was grateful for this technology, technology he could not have dreamed of when he was younger. Through the display on the inside of the helmet, he could see almost as well as if it were daylight.

He and the rest of his squad were inching down what was best described as a hallway cut into and through the rock. At intervals, there were doors that led to housing units and maintenance closets. Wires ran the length, tied to the upper corner of the ceiling, and they sparked here and there. Most of Dasch had not seen the urban maintenance it required since even before the siege, when the anax first took over. It was a miracle that this area still got this quality of electrical power at all; most, by now, did not even have what they needed to fire up their heaters. And down here, at these depths, it got cold at night, very cold.

Ergi had seen the most vicious products of war himself. One family he had seen lying on the floor of their home, frozen already, entire limbs missing either because they broke off or some soldier had removed them for no other reason than frustrated boredom. The men, even his, could have little heart in a world like this. Men were tortured on their own beds while their wives were raped. It was disgusting. But Ergi had lost his sympathies for humanity and civilization a long time ago, and certainly his experiences in New Empire so far were not conducive to recovery. If anything, he did not know how he'd survive in civil society after this. He didn't even know if he could.

They advanced slowly. It had been over an hour since the enemy had disengaged and they were headed back to their leít'arkas, a forward operating base of sorts that the Macabéans used to occupy and patrol territory in the city. At first, imperial soldiers had thought to use them as permanent bases. But Ergi had heard what had happened to those who figured themselves safe there. The enemy sapped below and above them, wherever there was spare rock to bore through, and planted enough explosives to collapse entire neighborhoods if necessary. One didn't need much room, not with autonomous drilling machines. And it was not just the enemy that fought in this way. The Golden Throne, including Kysetians like Ergi, were just as willing to destroy the entire city one area at a time simply for the sake of a final, decisive victory in this godforsaken siege.

There was no such thing as safety in Dasch. To survive, a soldier could not rest his eyes for even the briefest of moments. A lack of awareness, a distraction, could make all of the difference, and most of the time there wasn't anything you could do about it anyway — when it was your time to go, it was your time to go.

Despite the constant danger, or perhaps because of it, when they finally reached the leit'arkas Ergi was ready to fall asleep. Sleep. He hadn't had any of that for seventy-six hours, minimum. Maybe if he was lucky he'd get an hour or two tonight...today?...he wasn't sure if it was morning, afternoon, or evening outside. Neither he nor any of the men around him had seen the natural sun in months.

He did not change his clothes or clean off. Military personnel fighting under imperial banners were to remain in uniform at all times. A battle could happen at any moment. It was allowed for him to remove the helmet, but it had to be within arms' length by regulation. His weapon could never be outside of his control, even while he ate, slept, or shat. When he arrived at one of the bars just outside the base, but still protected by a heavy presence of imperial soldiers on guard duty, he looked much like one of them. Nobody but the whores seemed to pay him much mind, anyway.

Inside, there were dozens of men yelling, laughing, and singing, all with beers, some with women, and others with their friends. All were soldiers, although they hailed from many different places. There were cliques of Theohuacans and Indrans, groups of Zarbians, clumps of Havenics, and myriad other nationalities that now fought for the same two-headed eagle. Their were plenty of Macabéans as well, although they were as diverse in type as the others. Officers sat alone or in twos and threes here-and-there, placed almost strategically. In fact, to some extent, they were. The men were always tired, nerves frayed beyond repair, and fights were likely to break out, especially within groups as heterogeneous as this one. The army didn't need its men injuring or killing each other, and they didn't need their men injuring or killing civilian bystanders either, so the officers kept a tight watch on the men. Security outside would be quick to come to their aid if called upon.

Ergi saw the man he was looking for sitting by his lonesome in a corner table. When the man saw him approached his smile went wide and he stood. The two gave each other their hands and gave themselves pats on the back. "Suleymanoglu, you bastard. You're still alive. You're always the glum one, yet when others die you live," said the man as he sat down.

"I'm not sure whether life is a blessing or a curse," replied Ergi. "Anyway, Yavuz, you dog, you're not doing too poorly for yourself, I see. You've gotten fatter!"

The other man, Emre Yavuz, returned a loud, hearty laugh. He groaned as his hand went to his side. Emre had been wounded in combat two weeks prior. A medium-caliber rifle-made wound. The bastard was lucky to live at all. To think that his life had been spared just so that he could be killed in some other way, on some other day. "Yes, well," he answered, "it's not long now that I will go back into battle. Anyway, have you heard the news? From back home. It's the Ordenites."

"The Ordenites?" Ergi preferred them to the communists, but he preferred independence to both and the Macabéans, to boot. It had been too long since the hordes could roam free and rule the steppes. With the Macabéans a certain sort of liberty had come, but the world they and the Ordenites had created in southern Krasnova was artificial. What the empire called the Frontier was an imaginary line that pretended to split the Kysetian home in two, and the current arrangement of quasi-freedom of movement would not last forever.

Emre had already ordered two lagers, the two glasses still cold and frosty when Ergi had first arrived. "The scoundrels have announced the direct annexation of Chernaya. The whole damn area. Their army moved in practically overnight and took the hordes by surprise, arresting most and killing any who resisted. That's the news, at least."

"Damn it!" shouted Ergi, slamming his fist into the table. Those nearest to them looked to see what the hubbub was about but turned around when they saw nothing but two men talking. The bar was too loud to carry the sound much farther than that. "The Golden Throne, what is it doing about this? What about the hordes still in the satrapy? They could stop this. They could bring us back, we could take Chernaya."

Emre shook his head. "They have closed the Frontier to movement and urged all Kysetians to remain peaceful." He snorted, then shook his head, his eyes heavy with a deep sadness. "They weakened us, brought us here, baited us with gold. And here we die for them, while our home is taken from us. They said that Kysetians who cooperate with the Ordenites will be relocated to the satrapy. I am sure that most will, in fact, come here."

Ergi looked down and sat silently for a moment. "We could stop fighting for them here. Go on strike, if you will. We could even demand to be returned to the satrapy."

"Lord, if only they were as foolish as you," grunted Emre. "You think the Macabéans idiots, don't you? To you they are dunces who would simply ship us back to Pezlevko so that we could fight our war against the Ordenites, aren't they? Well, they are not stupid and if we threatened them here they would simply kill us all. No, 'a strike' is not the way."

"Don't you think the others are just of tired of this city as us?" asked Ergi.

The other man sniffed. "The others? They are here in transit. How long have they been here with us? A month? Three more and they'll be gone, just like the rest of 'em. This here is a damn assembly line, and we're only the chumps on the floor with full-time jobs. And the funny thing is we think we're getting the better deal. But all that wealth ain't worth a gram when you're stone cold dead."

"No one will think we've gotten the better deal soon enough," said Ergi. "In fact, ain't a soul in this place getting a good deal. Anyway, let's change the subject before an officer hears us entertaining seditious thoughts."

Emre chuckled. Although they spoke on many subjects that night, neither man could completely remove events back home from their mind.

But where Emre lost faith, Ergi only built anger.
