Well, they don't RP that realistically. Some are realistic, but others are not that much. I mean, I saw PMT nations on that time period have large mechas, space stations, rail guns, lasers, autocannons, and other sci-fi stuffs, even spaceship like airships, because they are a scientific and economic powerhouse

So essentially you've got an expensive amount of infantry and yet are somehow able to equip them with weapons that cost tens of billions of dollars on a battalion level? I mean 5,000,000,000 people, with 2.5 billion being males, and 1.75 billion being under the armed forces. There is no way you could realistically FEED that many soldiers, much less equip them with anything more sophisticated than bronze age weapons.

A thought about PMT technology and army size.

NS is a text based game. People can claim to have more or less anything. This means that if we go down the route of million strong armies and plasma launching rail gun minidrones we're not going to have a RP, we are going to have an old fashioned numberwank with the subtlety of a brick sandwich. So some ideas from successful RP's I have seen:

PMT: I tend to play as a nation that has hughly advanced technology in some areas. Nanocrafted heart valves, maglev trains and other stuff. The best way I have found to play PMT is using the rule of cool. Ultra high tech should be used to add a unique flavour to your nation. If you are using it to gain an edge in combat, you are usig it wrong so be sure to nerf your forces appropriately. My nation, if it got involved would have some weird tech. I would therefore include deployment problems and probably have a tiny battle force. I really think we should use PMT to add flavour and not to get an advantage over others.

Army size: Again, I really think we need to consider this. Some points to bear in mind. Logistics. This is especially important if you are using fancy tech that likely requires specialist maintainence and support. You are going to struggle to maintain that many soldiers in a hostile country that is absolutely huge. Additionally, more accountable rulers will find their citizens asking exactly why their family members are being asked to die thousands of miles away from home. Even dictators would have to consider the wisdom of seriously annoying their armed forces pursuing what might appear to be a fool's errand. I think if we consider these factors, we might think twice before numberwanking.

There's more to a conflict than war: Again, you have logistics. You also have the people back home. How are they doing now precious resources are devoted to a war effort, and now people start coming home in body bags? On a wider scale, how are you doing on the propoganda front? How are your allies dealing with your decisions?


Finally, the better roleplays I have seen have used the OOC to decide on battles and events together. We haven't really had that yet- but if and when it happens I think we should bear that in mind.

Just to lay out my plan then; the KDO uprising is going to look something like Warsaw in 1944. It will initially be fairly siccessful, having achieved operational surprise. However they’ll lack weapons more than small arms and the government will retain key areas. I was thinking major military bases and the port facilities. As a result, international aid (presumably limited in number until the port is taken) would be critical - raising issues regarding how the KDO is seen world wide. Must be seen as freedom fighters, not terrorists and taking mass revenge for the liquidation (as they have and further will do on a tactical level) probably won’t help.

The UKG, having been committed once before and failed will commit itself more fully this time. Will probably put airlift/airborne troops into the city, probably no more than a few thousand - but with carrier based air support.
