6,000 extra troops and numerous tanks and vehicles arrive in Nigeria for good measure

Today 6,000 extra troops along with their vehicles including tanks landed in Nigeria just outside of Forcados where the 19,000 Italian troops who arrived earlier in the war are stationed. The Italian CSN force in Nigeria now totals 25,000 troops along with tanks, AFV's, troops transports and logistical vehicles.

The Triangle has said that this is for good measure as many nations around the world have started controversially aiding the groups the CSN is trying to destroy. The Italian government is particularly concerned about the NSRA as they have already tortured and publicly executed an innocent Italian citizen who was visiting Lagos and are still being funded by several CSN member nations.

The 30,000 troops and their equipment based in Forcados are to conduct training exercises and be further educated in jungle combat whilst they are waiting for orders. Regarding orders, the Triangle has not yet issued any orders to the Italian military to advance out of Forcados and have been instructed not to stray even a millimetre out of the secure Forcados zone, which is under CSN control.

Sociaist States sends Humanitarian aid to the NSRA
Eleazar Rodriguez
September 21, 2018

A week ago, the government of the Eastern European Socialist States of Poland have officially announced that the Kraszanka administration will send humanitarian aid and 10 million dollars to the Nigerian Socialist Republican Army via naval delivery.
Yesterday, a cargo ship filled with construction materials, such as concrete, bricks, steel, and other construction equipment, handled by at least 100 volunteer engineers, departed the Gdynia port.

Later, Anti - Socialists groups did a background check on the "volunteer engineers" and found out that at least 10% were former army personnel, and 5% were inactive EGWRC personnel. After investigating photographs taken of the ship before and after departure, it was found that the volunteer engineers were armed with polish weapons such as the FB Mini-Beryl rifle. Anti - socialist news outlets were then quick to report the news. The administration quickly responded.

"A select few of our volunteer engineers are former defense personnel of the glorious socialist states, and also a few are armed with rifles, this is because they are going to a war torn country in a civil war in africa. The engineers insisted that they should bring their own weapons for self defense, and of course, the administration allowed the carry of weapons, as they have every single right to defend themselves, the administration of Calindelo doesn't want its people to go back home in a coffin."

Some of the more intense anti-socialist groups claim that the cargo ship is also armed with dynamite, and plastic explosives, but such claim without such evidence are undoubtly difficult to believe.

The French Atlantic Fleets have been ordered to join up with the CSN fleet off the coast of Nigeria - although they have not arrived yet. Meanwhile, an airlift operation to the Dominion of Algeria is also underway on a large scale as the deployment of French Confederation forces under the CSN banner is planned.

OOC: Right of Response hereby invoked on behalf of the Coalition.

Kristiansand, Norway, Nordic Federation
Image
The largest fleet in the Nordic Navy, the North Atlantic Fleet, consisting of a Nimitz-class supercarrier, 41 destroyers, 17 frigates, 18 attack submarines, 6 nuclear-powered attack submarines, a patrol craft, a minesweeper, a tracking ship, an oiler, and a medical ship in addition to the flagship that hosts 25 bombers, 30 attack aircraft, and 30 fighter aircraft, has been ordered to muster out of port and immediately re base to Accra, Ghana. The former Swedish colony accepted a military access treaty with the Nordic Federation and their coalition with open arms.

Their mission will be to patrol the Gulf of Guinea with other coalition naval forces in order to ensure that absolutely no military goods get into Nigeria by sea. They will be given orders to fire at any military vessels that approach their patrol perimeter and refuse to turn back, but let through humanitarian aid after a full search of the contents of the vessel. The Nordic Federation's most experienced admiral is being given control of the fleet, Klaus Anderrson.

However, before they begin their patrol and blockade order, the navy has been ordered to bombard specific military targets, mainly SAM sites that dot Nigeria, in order to make the skies safe for the air force. These bombardments will be focused around the enemy controlled areas surrounding the beach head at Forcados, in order to make the advancement of their forces into enemy territory more manageable.

Tamale, Ghana- Ghanaian Military Air Base
Image
The Nordic Air Force under Master Sargent Thomas Paasche has been mobilized from its primary airbase in Såtenäs, and flown to the newly available Ghanaian landing strips. 14 JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft, 2 Saab 340 early warning and control aircraft, in addition to 7 Eurofighter Typhoons have all been mobilized into Nigerian airspace in order to attain air superiority. Their mission will begin after many SAM sites have been destroyed, and the skies are safer for the aircraft to operate in.

In the mean time, several UAVs will be on reconnaissance missions over Nigeria, and 8 attack UAVs will be attempting to target SAM sites across Nigeria.

Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (Soviet Union)

Background:
Within the affairs of Africa and other such continents the Soviet policy of virtual isolationism and non-interventionism was in theory aimed to keep the union itself impartial in world affairs. This was and is still seen a crucial in a time of rearmament and modernization, however in releasing the former colony of Russian Tanzania and pledging an alliance of mutual defense for nation the union has taken upon itself a responsibility in ensuring peace and stability for its ally in Africa.

The threat of Nigeria is inherent in all groups who to the union represent fringes in theologies and ideologies of Islam, Christianity, and Socialism. Their biggest threat being the possibility to if not properly handled to collapse one of the largest nations and economies within the African continent, and send ripples through the continent.

Yet, the union until recently hasn't made any attempts to try and influence the events within the nation, content to leave such affairs to other powers, however two civil wars, and a building refugee crisis has proved incentive enough to eschew previous policies of non-interventionism and join a coalition of CSN states in a shared goal to bring stability via the CSN banner.

Announcement From Moscow
The biggest deterrent to the Soviet Union was not a military one, but that of a political one. Lessons from Chechnya and Afghanistan still gave clear warnings of the dangers of a lack of morale. From the central heart of Moscow at the Kremlin, a broadcast would be made to beam through the collective televisions and computer systems of the populace, being a direct message from the Premier Vostik, herself:
"Greetings Comrades of the Soviet Union,
I welcome you to this broadcast to the discuss recent affairs that can and will affect the state of the union now and into the future. As you know we have recently dedicated an increased amount of resources, time, and energy abroad. Pledging to aid our ally's where it is needed I come to inform you that these endeavors will now be dedicated, briefly, to the necessity of assuring a prosperous and peaceful resolution within the continent of Africa, and the nation of Nigeria.

I ask that all Soviets give their support in this endeavor. Even now in the marshaling of our forces we are committed to act with assurance from fellow members of the CSN to bring upon a quick and decisive conclusion to this prolonged conflict. The void in power within this country has led to rise of extremism from a collection of groups that threaten the future of this great nation and though we exist a continent apart the threat of such a future being jeopardized will too affect us. Both directly and indirectly.

It is in this threat to the future of a continent ravaged by war, threat to the stability of our allies on said continent, and threat of any non-intervention serving as a catalyst for future instability that we must act. Have faith comrades in the ability of our forces to bring a quick and bloodless conclusion to this affair and the ability of our efforts to ensure no such possibility of senseless slaughter may happen again."

With this the broadcast would end, it was expected that other nations would be viewing into the broadcast and as such it was planned for, with the order to marshal forces having been passed 6hrs before the broadcast.

Forces:
In line with recent policies enacted by the CSN, the Soviet Union would commit a total force of 25,000, however the total manpower would be split between those placed in Active and Reserve duty. Termed the "Soviet Expeditionary Force" and consisting of said number the active forces would be placed 15,000 to participate in the active invasion with 10,000 placed in reserve in Nordic Ghana in order to be committed more quickly to the front when called.

The organization of the SEF would follow a doctrine of combined arms calling in the combined assistance of Air, Naval, and Ground Forces.

The Active force would be given the name of Force Dido while the Reserve Force would be given the name of Ryba.

Force Dido:

Naval Forces:
1 Naval Task Force:
1x Kuznestov Class Aircraft Carrier
3x Delta Class Submarines
1x Sierra-Class Submarines
2x Slava-Class Cruisers
6x Landing Craft

Airforces:
4x Sukhoi Su-35s*
4x Sukhoi Su-27m*
13x Tupolev Tu-22m*
12x Sukhoi-Su-30s*
10x KA-52s*
*placed on the aircraft carrier

4x Sukhoi Su-30s
10 Sukoi Su-35s

Ground Forces:
2x S-300 missile systems
3x Buk Medium missile systems
8x T90s
7x T-14s
250x Marines
(naval forces)

10x T-14s
9x T90s
10x T80s
4x S-300s
7xTornado Gs
2x Kornet-Ds
30x Kazmaz
14000x active units (non-mechanized and mechanized troops)

These troops were to begin deployment towards the coast of Nigeria to assist in the blockade with the ground forces of the SEF being stationed in Ghana for the time being.

(OOC: I'll post reserves next post, I just need a brain break.)

The Puertollanoan Teacher's Union, in collaboration with the Puertollanoan Government has organised for teachers, school resources and funds to be sent to Lagos and the recently liberated Ogbomosho. The program will pay for literature, pens, pencils, exercise books and money to rent out old houses and other spaces to become make-shift schools. They will be taught the basics, such as Maths, History, Nigerian Studies, Science (especially Evolution), and an additional class called 'Anti-Imperialist Studies', where the class analyses cases of imperialism and subjugation by the European and North American powers throughout time. Around 300 teachers will arrive shortly to begin giginvg proper educations to the children in the safety of the NSRA territory.

The Bolivarian Republic of Puertollano has also pledged 10,000 soldiers to serve with the CSN to fight the ICN and the HNA. While Puertollano has condemned the CSN for its activities against the NSRA, the Puertollanoan Peacekeepers will not be involved in that, but rather fighting the Radical Islamist and Christian forces. High General Hugo Chavez shook hands with all men before they left, wishing them the best of luck in fighting the terrorist forces within Nigeria. Puertollano has explicitly stated that these forces will not be used in any assault against the socialists.

Speech by Prime Minister of the French Confederation

It is with great sadness that I can confirm the loss of four fighter jets in Nigeria. We do not know what happened to the pilots; they may be alive in enemy territory, or they may have been killed. What we do know is that they were downed in combat against socialist war planes, and by anti-aircraft ground fire. They were shot down doing their best to defend a North American helicopter team who were evacuating civilians from New Karu. We do not know how many Americans made it out; that question you would have to ask their government. As a result of this act of aggression by so-called socialist forces, we must reassess the Republic's position as a small actor in this war. We previously sent around 200 to aid the original CSN beachhead. Now we pledge our maximum 25,000 personnel to the CSN cause of bringing peace to Nigeria. It has become clear to us that every faction in the country's civil war has become fixated on total domination, and that they have no regard for the international rule of law and safety of civilians. Only through CSN approved action can peace be achieved.

The French Atlantic Fleets have arrived near Nigeria. Joining up with the existing CSN fleet, they have arrayed themselves to both provide additional coverage in the blockade while also shielding the two carriers who will be providing both air patrols and bombing capabilities. AWACs planes and submarines help give the huge armada of CSN ships early warning of all incoming aircraft and ships.

While the French Confederation-CSN ships were establishing their positions, they detected a transition from the NAF Fleet also manning the blockade;

In 12 hours the Lagos Air Base where Socialist Air Forces are based will be bombed. From this moment on all aircraft wishing to enter socialist airspace will be temporarily diverted away so that they do not fall victim to the strike; Coalition fighters and AWACs planes will ensure this is done. Should the communist jets attempt to flee the air base, they will be hunted down and destroyed. This warning is being given so as that all civilians may be evacuated from the base.

Forcados, Nigeria
Fort the last few months instead of advancing into HNA territory, the JSDF has been building up its defenses and infrastructure more and more. What once was a small entrenched line with pillboxes is now a concrete wall with barbed wire, guard towers, and bunkers across the Forcados Line. Spotlights illuminate no man's land, riddled with artillery shells from zeroing in the guns. A large road is the only thing that lies past the wall untouched, large enough to support tanks and connecting the base to the large sprawl of dirt roads in the jungle. With the dry season now here, the once wet jungle has given way to dry dirt allowing the unrestricted movement of machines. Inside the walls the JSDF has built a long concrete airstrip capable of launching large aircraft along with six hanger bays. Anti-Air defenses surround the base to ensure that no air assets are vulnerable to attack. On the coastline five massive piers each with landing ramps have all been constructed and are all in use as the new wave of CSN forces are offloaded in Nigeria.

Image
Newly arrived 8th Division Infantry

The Japanese military has transferred 21,000 men of the Army 8th Division to the JSDF along with 300 APCs, 50 helicopters, and 50 Type 10 Main Battle Tanks. The JSDF has also been given 15 F-3 Orient Fighters, 20 F-2s, and 15 C-1's. The transports from Japan just arrived today and have begun offloading military supplies and medical aid for the town, which has seen a rebound under CSN protection and has been fully rebuilt with help from the JSDF Seabees.

Japanese Prime Minister Ado has made a statement today about the deployment saying:
While the brave men of the JSDF have done well in securing the beachhead and establishing a central command, they lack the numbers for a proper campaign to end the civil war. The Japanese Military is committed to ending the civil war in Nigeria and restoring the government to an operational state and Japan remains committed to working with the CSN to secure peace.

Joint CSN Fleet - Off the Coast of Nigeria

In addition to the new land and air assets, the JSDF fleet has also been joined by the 1st Submarine Battlegroup and the 1st Carrier Fleet. The surface fleet consists of 6 destroyers, 2 frigates, 1 destroyer escort, 1 tanker, and two carriers, one of which being the newly completed ONS Kagoshima. Underwater the Japanese Navy has brought seven I-500 class attack submarines, two cruiser submarines, 96 Blackfin Subfighters, and the submarine carrier ONS Zuikaku. This is the first military deployment for all of these vessels and the first time subfighters will be used in an active theater of war. While the 1st Carrier Group will be joining the bulk of the CSN Fleet, the submarines will be spread across Nigerian Waters to act as a blockade force and and early alert for approaching ships.

North Atlantic Fleet- Gulf of Guinea
As the North Atlantic Fleet arrived in the theater of war, Admiral Klaus Anderrson has ordered the HMS Gustav carrier- acompanied by the nuclear attack submarines and frigates for defense- to patrol the waters towards the West of Nigeria, in order to ensure absolute superiority over the skies of Lagos and surrounding areas. It's navally launched aircraft will coordinate with the air-wing based in Ghana and will focus their air superiority mission over the South-West of Nigeria, and will begin ground support of troops landing in Forcados as more SAM sites are destroyed across the nation.

The 18 attack submarines will be paired off with the frigates in order to form an absolute blockade with other CSN naval forces that will stretch from the border of Nigeria and Benin to Ikang in the extreme East of the country, and will stop and search all vessels wishing to pass through in order to ensure that only humanitarian aid reaches Nigeria. Destroyers of the navy will be stationed closer to the coastline in order to begin a massive land bombardment campaign that will focus around the landing area in Forcados in order to assist the Coalition's advance there, but will spare Lagos due to its high civilian population.

The transport vessels of the fleet have been assigned orders to be on standby to ferry coalition troops from Accra to Nigeria if an amphibious assault from Ghana ever becomes necessary.

2nd Expeditionary Air Wing- Tamanrasset, Algeria
The Nordic Air force's stratotankers- two in total- have been stationed along with 12 newly acquired Dassault F-1s and 6 Dassault Rafales in the south of Algeria in order to begin combat missions into the North of Nigeria, focusing on softening targets in the North East, specifically around Sokoto. They will be coordinating with the air wings based in Ghana in order to ensure air superiority before beginning ground strike and support action once many SAM sites are destroyed by UAVs.

1st Expeditionary Air Wing- Tamale, Ghana
Reconnaissance UAVs have successfully identified about a dozen SAM sites that other UAVs, ground strike aircraft, and the navy will attempt to target, but most air operations have been deemed too dangerous to begin until many SAM sites across Nigeria are eliminated.

Additionally, in a press conference with Master Sargent Paasche, he clarified that the Nordic air strategy was 'completely non-discriminatory' and that Nordic planes will be 'targeting all ground targets of strategic military value, while venturing to avoid any unnecessary civilian casualties'. Essentially confirming that the Nordic Federation was not exclusively targeting socialist forces or any other group.

Expeditionary Ground Forces- Accra, Ghana
The Expeditionary ground forces of the Nordic Federation, which had been ferried on C-130 Hercules aircraft to Accra, have been placed under the command of Generalmajor Micael Bydén. Currently, the forces consist primarily of the 1st Marine division, which is equipped for a sea-invasion of Nigeria if the plan becomes necessary, parts of the 3rd infantry division, and parts of the 2nd armored division which is currently in transport from Stockholm via the transport craft of the North Atlantic Fleet. The forces number at exactly 25,000 personnel, the CSN limit.

The troops have been given orders to prepare for a land invasion while awaiting the transportation of armored and anti-armored components by sea.

The Situation in Nigeria

Things have not changed much in the past few weeks, if at all. The biggest development comes from the fact both the ICN and HNA are within a stone throws away from Abuja, each side savoring to get there before the other. Whichever side reaches it first will only have a limited time to reinforce it before it is attacked by the other side. Though it will not be the end of the war, both the HNA and ICN hope it will have the effect of rallying more people to their cause. The NSRA however, has said Lagos is the true capital of Nigeria and will treat it as such when they win the war..

Speaking of the NSRA, they have failed to make any noteable gains due to the fact they are preparing for a possible CSN invasion. The HCN has noticed this and tried to retake some land it has lost but was fought off and forced to redirect it attacks back at the ICN. The NSRA continues to get advanced weapons and seemingly more money, even with the blockade in effect. It is believed these weapons where funneled in before the blockade started and the money is being received electronically.

Espalsio Arrives to Nigeria

As the soldiers start arriving to the war-torn country in Africa under the CSN flag, the pioneers of the mission start setting up camps and make first contact with the locals. Government officials are already starting to pick out fields which have a good farming potential and property which would be easy to convert into factories. The ruling Agricultural and Industrial Party led by the current Prime Minister started its investments into the Nigerian economy but believes that the first and important step is to develop its agriculture to feed the populace. The arriving soldiers are also patrolling some of the regions and recruit the locals to work in Espalsio’s farms and factories. Apart from improving Nigeria, the main aim of the Spanish task force in the country under the CSN flag is to eliminate the extremists from the so-called Christian Fundamentalist army whose atrocities have shocked the world.

NSRA takes unconventional routes to oppose CSN.

Today as Lagos International Airport, a massive protest against the CSN took place. Broadcasted over the internet, a force of 50,000-100,000 people came out in a massive show of support for the NSRA. They all cheered and chanted for the NSRA as well as condemning the CSN. The event was open to other journalists from other nations as way to open up the NSRA to the world. People interviewed said the CSN would have to bomb the airport with them still there, as they would not leave one of their main means of getting food and supplies to be destroyed. Some also said that the only crime the NSRA has committed is shooting down the American helicopters sent to rescue the old corrupt government stooges. However, those people interviewed agreed those figures needed to be removed as they where just pawns for Western Powers.

NSRA officials where seen setting up tents and food courts for civilians staying at the Airport, meaning they are in for the long haul. The NSRA has also sent out an official message is that they are willing to drop out of the war and cease all hostiles, as well as hold legitimate elections, if the NSRA can create its own state within the borders of its captured land.

The CSN's response to this unconventional tactic has yet to be heard.

Operation Smerigliatura

Postby Grandes Terres » Tue Mar 13, 2018 11:29 am

Image

2nd - 3rd of October, 2018

Classified- Operation Smerigliatura Closure Report

The Triangle has just confirmed the successful deployment of Weapon BI-AN743 as the objective of Operation Smerigliatura, thus ending the operation. Weapon BI-AN743 is an inhalation anthrax weapon developed by Unit 267 based on Tigres island, the tip of the missile holds a white gas containing airborne spores of Anthrax, when fired the missile will fly to between 120 and 80 metres above ground level before dispersing the gas containing the Anthrax spores which will travel in a downward diagonal trajectory, this trajectory can vary significantly depending on weather conditions.

Yesterday a stealth nEUROn UCAV was deployed from Tigres island to the trading town of Sapele roughly 50 miles north-east of Forcados. When above Sapele at a high altitude above cloud cover the Triangle authorised the use of BI-AN743 which was successfully launched at the town with the anthrax gas expected to cover roughly half of the town. Unfortunately the UCAV was successfully shot down by HNA forces between Warri and Forcados on its return to Tigres island, official reports claim it was returning from a surveillance mission over Warri.

Sapele has a population of approximately 150,000, the Ministry of Defence is unsure of how many of the 150,000 residents will be infected by the anthrax spores however, of those who are infected the fatality rate of inhalation anthrax is <85% however anthrax cannot spread from person-to-person meaning the outbreak will hopefully be contained within the town.

The first stage of inhalation anthrax causes cold and flu-like symptoms. Symptoms include fever, shortness of breath, cough, fatigue, and chills. This can last hours to days. The second stage occurs when the infection spreads from the lymph nodes to the lungs. Symptoms of the second stage develop suddenly after hours or days of the first stage. Symptoms include high fever, extreme shortness of breath, shock, and rapid death within 48 hours.

Half of the town of Sapele will likely become a quarantined zone for the foreseeable future until a full cleanse of the town is conducted which would take several years. The Ministry of Defence is considering calling for a CSN clean up operation of the 'mysterious anthrax outbreak' once the town is captured by CSN forces so that samples can be collected and sent to Unit 267 on Tigres island.

Unit 267 will be monitoring local media outlets in Sapele to see the effects of the weapon. Once news of the outbreak reaches the international community the Ministry of Defence will issue NBC suits to all 25,000 Italian soliders in Forcados and will recommend all other CSN forces do the same due to the contamination of the town of Sapele with spores of Anthrax.

Sapele

The residents of the town where covered in a white gas. They panicked and fled while the small HNA force was trying to figure out exactly what was going on. It seemed like nothing had happened however as there where no obvious effects. Because of the civil war, many of the doctors who could have helped with this tragedy had fled to the NSRA or out of Nigeria all together. Some had even been killed for using "witch" magic to heal people. So nobody knew the true devastation that was about to unfold. While the HNA did indeed have some things up and running, basic hygiene had always been near luxury item, especially for villages within the outskirts of major cities. Add to the fact Sapele was near a major delta and also a major trade hub, even to the HNA, so people came here to buy and sell as well as bring animals to the market.

The results where beyond anything the Italians probably expected. Anthrax can be caught through the skin, inhalation or from contaminated food. The Italians had just exposed all of the HNA territory to all three. The people who had inhaled it would not to be able to transmit person from person but would die painful deaths over the course of a week. The people who ate the contaminated animals would suffer from blinding stomach pains and also die horribly. Then those who got it from skin contact with the spores. They would be the ones who spread it. Black boils would form on their skin and the leaking pus would be infected with new Anthrax spore that infected other people who mishandled the dead bodies.

And despite Italian hope, it spread. Slowly but it spread. People began to flee Sapele as the dead piled up. The disease would make its way to Benin City and Warri. Farmers, fearing their animals had also been infected, began killing off their livestock, ensuring a famine crisis in the near future. The HNA didn't know what had hit them but it was obvious at this point that missile attack was some sort of biological weapon. Ironically, the Italian picture of the missile spreading the spores would have been taken from another angle by a HNA reporter.

This got the attention of the world and to the unfolding crisis. The amount of dead in Sapele was too great to ignore and the fleeing of people to the other cities could be seen by any recon drones. The accusations came hard from the HNA, blaming both the ICN and NSRA for spreading the plague(because of the black boils the anthrax had been mistaken for the bubonic plague, which caused an even bigger panic). However, anyone looking deeply into this...find it wouldn't make sense. The NSRA had no access to drones and only 5 planes left. No activity had been seen from the still occupied Lagos airport. The ICN did not have the capability to launch such an attack so deep into HNA territory. That and coupled with the report an unknown drone had been shot down a few hours after the attack...it would become clear to any investigation into the matter a third party had did this.

Soviet and French Confederation aircraft acting as part of the CSN task force have launched a strike against the HNA. Flying at high altitude, Su-30s and Rafales deliver air to ground missiles and bombs on the strategic oil targets near Izombe. The strikes are aimed at eliminating the extremist's sources of financial wealth and also ability to supply their vehicles. Although they do not expect the NSRA to interfere on this mission, a second group of French fighters acts as an escort. It is still unknown what happened to the pilots downed during the NAF mission from New Karu, although they are presumed deceased.

Meanwhile, word of the horrible events elsewhere in the country would gradually reach the Confederation's intelligence officers on the Super Carrier Marianne. When their commanders were informed, the information that could be gained without an actual presence on the ground was sent to experts in New Metropolitan France for analysis.

Tamale, Ghana- Expeditionary Air Command
The head of the expeditionary air force has ordered Dassault Rafales and F-1s to strike at strategically important towns and military installations in the North-West of the country, specifically focusing on the town of Sokoto, Bernin Kebbi, and Yelwa. They have also been ordered to keep a minimum altitude of 18,000 ft and use the full range of their missiles in order to be under the lowest threat possible from ground-based anti-air missiles. The Nordic Airforce officially logged the loss of 2 reconnaissance drones to ground-launched missiles, one near Lagos, and the other in the South-East of Nigeria.

The Saab Gripens and Eurofighters have also been scrambled, but are focusing their efforts along the Benin/Nigeria border, and have been ordered once again to use the full range of their missiles and to not cross the border in order to avoid as many ground-launched missiles as possible.

The planes based on the HMS Gustav are also being employed for distance strikes along the Benin border, in addition to helping the landing forces in Forcados, but their range is limited because they have been ordered to avoid NSRA airspace, meaning they have to circle through Benin or over the Gulf of Guinea.

Segbana, Benin- Nordic Federation Forward Operating Base
The 25,000 troops have finished supplying in Accra, and the last of the armored division has been brought in by boat. They were ordered to cross the Benin-Nigeria border at 5am this morning, starting the invasion from the towns of Dounkassa, Segbana, and Nagansi. Their first mission will be to establish a defensible perimeter against the NSRA and HNA to the south of their position by anchoring against the Kainji Lake National Park, and the Lake itself. The remainder of the forces will push to the Niger river, and once they reach the river, will cross it and push towards Sokoto along the A1 highway and the Maidahini-Dangoma-Kalgo Junction Road.

The Armored portions of the forces will be entirely relegated to the North, while the Marine component will assist in strategic crossings of the Niger river. The infantry component will be evenly spread across the lines.

Soviet Union: Atlantic Front
The Soviet Naval forces would be among the first to enter and support the blockade of Nigeria, only having to sail directly to the front. Upon meeting with French forces it would agreed that the two combined forces would begin bombing of the strategic oil zones of Izombe. The full force of Su-35's, six Su-30s, and 4 Tu-22ms. Utilizing combined radar systems, the force flies in rank with their French counterparts. The Soviets commit to a reserved bombing action, utilizing their systems to mark and hit targets before flying back to safe airspace. Actions like these are repeated several times over the day. French forces are notified to take alternate between taking lead with Soviet forces as well as alternating between times of heavy and light bombing as to keep the HNA forces on foot.

Bonny Island
The small island of Bonny, strategic in its ability to allow for CSN forces to build a bridge head and further shut down the distribution of oil from the HNA was tasked with Soviet leadership to storm. Committing their marine force to the action, the Naval forces would first task a small slights to begin bombing points of strategic interest on the island: such as defenses, transports, etc.
The flights would consist of the highly agile Su-27m's, Six Su-30s, and six Tu-22ms. Flying at high altitude to avoid any SAM systems the flight force would begin conducting their bombing runs.

Ground Forces
Having been dropped off within Ghana the ground forces of the SEF would be tasked with assisting the Nordic forces in their push towards Nigeria from Benin. The force of 14,000 would largely follow behind and in between armored units as they advance, long range artillery systems such as the S-300 placed in the back of the lines. Once at the border of Benin the Soviet forces would make contact with the Nordic forces before commencing to providing support in their movements towards the Niger.

Izombe

A general issue all the factions would find now is the fact most of the new entrants in into war had planes that could fly high above their MANPADS effective firing range. Thus was the case with Izombe. With no real way to defend, Izombe's oil fields where defenseless. Explosions ripped through the country side outside the city as thick black smoke enveloped the area, producing a deadly smog like haze over the city. Back before either civil war, Nigeria had been using Gas Flaring to burn off excess combustible gas from the wells. This caused the crops in the area to slowly die off and people to develop lung illnesses. This would worsen that condition and force people to flee as well as poison the environment around the city for years to come, worsening the coming food crisis.

ICN North-Western terrority
As with Izombe, the ICN had no way to defend itself against attacks from jets that could fly higher then their MANPAD aims. However, the ICN was not a regular army and it was hard to tell what was theirs and what was civilian owned. They suffered losses no doubt from the air strikes against Sokoto, Bernin Kebbi, and Yelwa, but because they preferred to constantly be within the civilian population and based themselves out of Mosques, it ultimately led to a large number of civilian casualties, much more then airstrikes against the HNA.

Kainji Lake National Park

The Nordic forces here had stumbled into an absolute war zone. The Kainji Lake National Park was a very thick and very dense jungle, almost similar to the Amazon's of South America or the jungles of South East Asia. Using this as defense permiter would be hard. The area had become a flashpoint between the HNA and ICN and still remained one. 5,000 HNA troops and 3,000 ICN troops where currently stalking each other. The Nordic Army had stumbled right into No-Man's Land and it would find the area extremely diffcult to traverse. Mines and IEDS litters pathways vehicles could take. Random ambushes from both sides, spider holes and various traps laid in place. The National park was a blood bath and because both sides, but especially the ICN, knew it well, the Nordic Army had found its own slice of Vietnam to fight in.

Bonny Island

Bonny Island indeed would be a great launch point into Nigeria. And the CSN forces where not the only ones to notice that. Bonny Island only had one really major city, Bonny, and from there it was where the HNA was garrisoned. The bombing runs did great in destroying their beach defenses and forcing HNA troops to retreat back into the jungle or city. They had prepared for a D-Day style invasion and had put too much stock in their anti air defense. However, the island would not be so easily taken. While not a true irregular army like the ICN or NSRA, the lush jungle that made up the island was perfect for ambushes and hiding. Meanwhile within the city, containing a large force of almost 20,000 men, began to prepare and dig in for a fight.

Benin

Live results came pouring in to the HQ of the Puertollanoan CSN division of the suspected chemical weapons attack. None else could have committed such action, other than a foreign power. The NSRA, the ICN, nor the HNA could have the capabilities to do so. The leadership was already aware that the FSR didn't have the capabilities to do so, and they knew Puertollano wasn't behind the actions. Therefore, the chain of command came to the conclusion that this was but an activity conducted by a certain member of the Coalition, or the Coalition as a whole. It would only be reasonable that the 'CSN' operation would be suspended due to a member violating its terms, which apparently puts the lives of civilians first. The 10,200 man camp was alerted of what had occurred through runners and a sound system, there was rumbling among some of the more activist types in the Bolivarian Armed Forces. A short call between Castillo and the acting-General only confirmed what was to occur, "We will not be pawns of the imperialist games, the Coalition is solely responsible, if not entireley responsible for the misconduct of one of its members," the President continued rambling, but was cut short by the acting-General; So, what do you want us to do?". "Leave, you have safety in the NSRA." Official communications were sent to the NSRA, advising them of the incoming Puertollanoan troops who will be deserting the CSN operation. As a final order, caches of ammunition and resources were packed onto trucks, and the 10,200 man army went to cross the border into Nigeria. Warning shots were fired at the Soviet forces on the border, a clear indication to stick clear as the convoy drove past. Once arriving in Lagos, the munitions and resources were given the fighters of the NSRA, and the troops were at the command of General Castro, who was previously positioned in Nigeria.

First Raid

This morning, the Espalsian army has conducted its first assault on the so-called Holy Army using attack helicopters. Having arrived with the CSN coalition to Nigeria, the Spanish task force has located what was thought to be an enemy convoy and a hideout. Not wasting a second, the helicopters have responded by engaging the enemy formations. After the successful mission, the helicopters returned to the camps.

Espalsian soldiers are also giving out fliers to the locals recruiting them for the Spanish factories and farms while offering them monetary rewards for any intel.

Over the Skies of Nigeria

With the GU contributing to the war effort plenty of aircraft were mobilized to Benin. The aircraft would fly at high altitude and target HNA and ICN military strong holds across the Benin-Nigerian border.(from aircraft in Benin) and across the HNA coast(from Fighters on HMS Karjala) acquiring targets through recon UAVs and Satellite images.

In addition a Cruise Missile Carrier Aircraft(CMCA) was also deployed to Benin and will conduct long range cruise missile strikes aquring targets in the same fashion as the fighters

Benin Fighters-
x35 Eurofighters
×15 Panavia Tornados
×5 Daasualt Saab-Griffens
x1 Airbus A310(MRTT)

CMCA Squadron-
x1 CMCA
x10 Eurofighters
x1 KC-10

HMS Karjala-
x30 Kaiserin(in war effort)
x40 Kaiserin(other duties/on standby)

Benin-Nigerian border, ground forces

The 25,000 GU forces would move to the Nordic Forces position and halt all advance into the national park and other extremely active skirmish zones[OOC:Nordic forces will pull out of national park as well, permission granted by Lendenburgh]

After that, both armies would regroup while they reported enemy positions to the GURAF, who in turn would utilize the over head satellite to calculate positions of enemy troops and give coordinates to the CMCA Squadron for them to bomb with cruise missiles.

After both armies regroup they would divide into 2 groups both consisting a mix of Nordic and German Forces and flank the ICN and HNA positions attempting to push them closer and closer together. Many German soldiers having experience from the recent Indochina wars or were trained by Zackarothian officers in counter-insurgency warfare and would utilize counter guerilla tactics in a attempt to effienctly take care of enemy fighters.

With the arrival of more troops and a planned direction of action from CSN command, Australian troops prepare for war

FORCADOS- Last October 17th, the sixth wave of deployments of Australian soldiers and armor arrived in the port created by CSN forces stationed there months earlier. This latest arrival of Australian soldiers, increases the total troop count of CSN Australian troops to around 12,000 men and 250 IFVs, already about half of the expected 25,000 men and 600 IFVs. Along with the arrival of the troops, 2,100 tons worth of food supplies, water, beddings, and sanitary materials were also brought it, with the help of the Australian Navy of 21 ships that regularly travel the distance between Nigeria and Australia. About 200 nurses and 50 doctors of the Australian Red Cross were also part of the deployment with the mission of creating medical hospitals and support the Australian army.

As of Oct 15th, the Australian CSN contingent have not yet been deployed against the HNA due to the recent events of the Swedish Army being ambushed mercilessly by HNA and ICN forces in the Northwest. However, the contingent has been reportedly been tasked with the task of fighting northwards of the Forcados line, against the HNA.

ITS Maremoto conducts cruise missile strike on HNA positions in Warri

Today ITS Maremoto (english: ITS Seaquake) confirmed to the Ministry of Defence that it fired a total of 12 Tomahawk cruise missiles from the Gulf of Nigeria to individual targets within the city limits of Warri. COC (Cybernetic Operations Command) gained access to local communications within the city of Warri, sifting through the messages and calls made by residents in the city searching for communication between HNA members. A total of 1,234 HNA communications were identified and using a GIS system the locations were digitally overlaid atop a map of Warri.

From this map 83 small clusters of communication were identified, with 12 being major clusters of activity. These 12 locations were targeted by cruise missiles from ITS Maremoto, a Miraggio-Class SSN. All 12 missiles were successfully fired from undersea at 17:44. The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that civilian casualties will be unavoidable in such a dense urban area, with civilians and HNA soldiers often being unidentifiable from each other but insists that as many measures as possible are taken to avoid civilian casualties without jeopardising the mission itself.

HNA terrority

As the Spanish helicopters flew over Nigeria, they'd be right in the line of fire of the HNA's MANPAD missiles. It had been weeks and they had been waiting for one of the countries to make this very mistake. Even the convoy they attacked was heavily defended against helicopter strikes and sought to take them out.

Benin-Nigeria Border

The Germanic and Nordic forces attacking from the border would find the HNA in complete disarray as not only wher ethey being bombed but the NSRA was doing a massive push into their territory. This completely broke their lines as the NSRA, Germanic and Nordic forces pushed them completely out of the area and gave the CSN a foothold right at the southern tip of the Kanji National Forest. However, the German tactic of bombing the forest was almost of no use. The ICN hidden within the national park moved fast and never set up base camps for long. By the time the bombs came down, they where already gone. Even with their experience and training, the Germanic troops would find any assault in the forest a complete nightmare as no armored units could enter without getting stuck and ambushes where plentiful. If they sought to remove the ICN they would need bigger numbers...or start destroying the forest.

Benin-Nigeria border, ICN Land

The battles up here where a lot more complicated. Unlike the HNA or NSRA, the ICN purposely looked like civilians and purposely based themselves either in or around heavily populated areas in a town. This lead to a high civilian casualty rate within the areas the German and Nordic forces bombed. It also led to alot of anger. The ICN would retreat on purpose or remain hidden among a cities population. When the CSN forces rolled in, the people would become angry and begin to riot, attacking the soliders with rocks, makeshift weapons or even "forgotten" weapons. Added to that, the ICN was sure to try and film said riots to try and paint the CSN in an extremely negative light, distorting the battles and riots to make it seem like CSN was casually killing people. This sparked a wave of anger across Upper Nigeria and the common consensus among the populous was the CSN was here to not only wipe out the ICN but Islam as well.

Warri
Meanwhile in Warri, the anthrax epidemic was getting worse. People where getting sicker and sicker and bodies began to pile up, exposing people to even more of the disease as the mishandling of the bodies went on. The situation soon started spiraling as the Italian Cruise missiles struck the city. 12 missiles struck the inner city, destroying communications and setting sections of the city on fire. This caused another mass panic as people, both sick and healthy began another mass exodus, some heading to Benin City, with others to Onishtia. The Italians where unwittingly spreading the Anthrax even further then intended as the crisis began to spiral. Ironically, the HNA communications that where bombed were important relays between the the HNA itself. They where about to agree to a corridor between Warri and the sea to form a safe corridor where the CSN could come in and help those people affected by the disease. That message never made it to the CSN as they where destroyed before it could go out. Worse, the timing made it believe the HNA believe it was all a trick by the CSN to destroy their communcations. They would not work with the CSN now or ever. The war had become alot more complicated
