Airstrike on PJAK/KCK target in Iran
On February 13th of 2018 Azerbaijstan launched multiple airstrikes within Iran on Kurdish separatist positions near the Azerbaijstani border and areas near Armenia and Turkey. The airstrikes coincided with Israeli airstrikes in Syria on Iranian targets and Turkey's operation in Afrin on groups linked with KCK.
Azerbaijstan's President Ali Qassimov ordered the attacks just after recent civil unrest in the country as a result of political purges to build national unity and his image as a military leader in an official statement President Qassimov said "This is an act of self defense and a show of solidarity with our allies in combating terrorism, this is not attack on Iran this is an attack on terrorists!"
Iran responded by firing 2 Qiam missiles into Azerbaijstan, President Qassimov said on the situation "We demand an apology from Iran we only did them a favor!"
