This was nothing more than a belligerent teen in his mind. He only slightly struggled to throw the young girl form his rifle. Moving it onto his back he grabbed her hands and zip cuffed them.
"Im not a villhallen." He bruntly said picking her up and forcibly pushing her towards her comrade. He reached into his vest and removed his radio while removing a pistol form his holster and aiming it at the group.

"This is unit 32. In need of backup. Rowdy crowd posing a threat two in custody.

"Rodger. Acquiring spare soldiers to assist." Came over the radio. He once more produced the rifle and pointed it down at the group of the teenagers.

"If all of you do not leave the scene you will be under arrest for attacking a C-Sec Soldier! Or possibly worse!" He yelled at the crowd. As he said this another boy. About the age of fifteen turned and bum rushed Jason. As the girl who had just been detained managed to stamer to her feet before his comrade had managed to completely detain her and came at him form behind. He took a hand off of the rifle and swung at the boy. Striking him in the face. He turned around to a shrill cry form the other soldier as the girl approached. He quickly turned the rifle around and smacked the girl in the stomach with the rifle.
They were outnumbered and unless support came they would be downed and most likely killed by the group of teenagers.

OOC: Danials can’t zip cuff a suspect while holding a light maching gun and being swarmed by an angry mob. Similarly, I just said that Cote detained the fifteen year old boy. Don’t go back and retcon my post just to make your guy appear more and her less competent.

You said that Danials advanced down the alleyway. He is well ahead of the perimeter line and not close enough for his partner to help him.

IC:
Pvt. Fal Cote, C-Sec Security Forces near the UofH, Himmelsdorf, the Green Union:

Danials tried to be casual, but within a few seconds more pairs of angry gloves started wrestling for his gun. It was all the Sevevillian could do to hold on to the weapon, trying to swing the rifle butt against as many children as he could before being overwhelmed by the weight of the group. Surrounded and off balance, Danials fell to the ground.

Fal could only stand behind the tape with their single arrested youth, and watch in shock as the massive Sevevillian, easily the biggest and strongest man she knew, was obscured behind a wall of yelling and jeering high school students. The the kicking started, and Fal could just make out some of the safety vest-wearing soldier through their swinging legs. He was in the fetal position.

There wasn’t much she could do without backup, and so Fal hurriedly unclasped her radio, fumbling for the receiver in her thick winter gloves.

“This is Unit 32. We’ve got a group of angry students attacking Danials. He’s outside the wire. Need backup now.”

The affirmative on the other side was slow and muted. Apparently tense situations had kicked up at many areas of the perimeter, and they would have to scrounge for someone to send. All the while the kicking had gotten more intense. Whoops of excitement were coming from the kids, and some were now starting to gesture towards the perimeter. Jason had stopped moving.

She had no choice. Pvt. Cote gave the detained teenager one more shove into the snow, then stood up straight and leveled her rifle at the mob. She yelled a command at the top of her lungs for them to stop, letting them know what would happen if they didn’t, but none complied.

Pvt. Cote brought the rifle up to her shoulder and let the shots ring out. Pvt. Danials would only be vaguely aware as he was dragged out of the blood and had his wounds dabbed by a cold, dry rag. It would still be some time before support arrived.

Urlistan
Leafville
Streets of Leafville | 12:52 PM | Stefan & Karl

"Det ar kold som is, Karl," Stefan said, shivering. "Du omsorg å go inside bygganden?" Waiting for his friend's answer, Stefan reached for his backpack looking for his toppluva — or 'top cap' if translated literally — a traditional Emerstarian hat comparable to the knitted hat; though his was a more modern adaption.
"Ja, det ar kold, handla det. Det kan være verre i Emerstari, noenrutt," Karl responded.
"Jeg vilje finna hvor å ata eften; jeg vilja-ikke å sløsa var ransjoner." Stefan began surveying the buildings which lined the street for any restaurants.
"Født det."

Streets of Leafville | 1:00 PM | Karl

As it was the lingua franca, most Emerstarians studied English in school; Karl critiqued what he planned to say in his head as he approached a civilian. Though he didn't have a strong accent, he nevertheless, had one and through it, he began presenting himself, "Hello, sir. If you would be so gracious as to give me a moment of your day I would like to ask a few questions; is that all good with you, sir?" Before the Urlistani had a chance to respond he proceeded, "But first I, of course, assume you, my sir, have some questions for me and what I'm going to ask you about. I will do my best to answer them accordingly; I am High Sergeant Karl Erichsen of the Emerstarian Royal Army, and my subordinate and I have been assigned to talk to and see what the Urlistani condition is, i måten." He wasn't sure how good his English grammar had been though he knew his sentence had some characteristics of Emerstarian, long and possibly verbose sentences with focus on titles.

The Urlistani, a bundled up man hurrying through the street, glanced worriedly at who was talking to him. Seeing a soldier, he took a terrified step back, mumbled some incoherent excuse about loving Arcadia and not being a communist, and made as if to move away. Attempting to not lose the man amongst all the others, Karl tried to quickly form something to say, "Wait, I'm not Arcadian; I'm Emerstarian." The man stopped walking away, curious as to who the Emerstarians are. "I'm High Sergeant Karl Erichsen of the Emerstarian Royal Army. Now, would you be so kind as to just answer a few questions, sir? You're not in trouble or anything."
The man's surprise didn't seem to diminish, but his perceived fear definitely did. Though still guarded, he responded, "Oh, um, I suppose so. But... Emerstari? I'm not sure I'm familiar with this country?"
"The New Federal Republic of Emerstari, it's a country in another region though there are a few islands of hers in Markion. Earlier this month, the President and the King of Emerstari proposed the notion of aiding Urlistan in its reconstruction; the Foderal Kongress approved it just this week. Anything else you wanted to know before I begin?"
"Errr, I guess not." The man was somewhat put off by how forward the Emerstarians were, and probably regretting his choice to stay and chat.
"Allt ratt eften," Karl said to himself, flipping to a page in a small notebook. "What are you views on the Arcadian aid effort?"
The man took a step back, a new wave of concern visible behind the scarf. He glance from side to side nervously. "Arcadia?" he said quickly, "Yes, they're very helpful. Saving us from communism."
"No thoughts on their aid? That's fine." He paraphrased the answer in the notebook thinking that these questions, written by some official back in Coronet, may not be the best. "How do you feel the war has impacted Urlistan, at least your region of it?"
"Oh, no!" The man cut in, suddenly looking panicked, "The aid is very good! We have plenty of help! Arcadia is a wonderful country that is saving us."
"It's alright sir. Just calm down. This is anonymous and will never be touched by any Arcadians."
The man was clearly worked up, but it did seem he wanted to take these peoples' word for it. "Okay, okay... but I thought you were helping the Arcadians?"
"Yes, Emerstari and Arcadia have good diplomatic relations but Emerstari is not fighting in this war and this isn't going to be helping the Arcadians in their aid effort," he paused to flip to the next page in the notebook. "Now, have your answers changed at all or shall I move onto the final question?"
The Urlistani seemed desperately to want to say something, but was weighing whether he could do so safely. "Err... so you're not fighting the resistance? But then why are you here with military equipment?"
"Well I can't under regulation give out all the information regarding our forces here or anywhere but we don't have tanks or planes or anything to conduct a war here; this battalion has been fitted to help with relief and only defend themselves if they should be attacked."
"Oh," He said dejectedly, "you are here to fight the PAR. Well, I don't think I can help you much." The man hurried off into the biting cold.
Karl followed him for a second or two, "No we aren't? And don't you want your compensation for the questions?" He turned to see if there was any Urlistani women around to answer his questions; he thought they'd be less likely to be a resistance member and therefore more likely to answer. Karl stood there for a second to see if the man had returned thinking, "Om han ar medlemen av PAR, han sycket arikke godt pa i maskerett det; lycklig fur ham dær ar nej Arkadiensk soldators rundt harr, jeg gætte."

Streets of Leafville | 1:18 PM | Stefan

Stefan had one hand over his face, covering his nose and mouth with his glove while walking around in his search restaurants. Karl had grown up in northern Marlanda, an area in Emerstari that received much harsher winters than where Stefan lived. Tired of looking on his own, he walked up to a few locals and asked if they perhaps might know of any restaurants that may be open. The responses, however, were all that the soldier should go and pick up any of the food kits the GRA aid mission in the town was giving out for free. Other than that, if he really wanted a pre-war restaurant meal he should probably try in the gated Arcadian district of town.
Stefan thanked the locals that he talked to and reached into his backpack for his field rations. Throughout his whole search he had been cold and hungry and had had this backpack with all of his and Karl's supplies in it weighing him down; not eager to do any more walking, Stefan opened the wrapper of a granola bar began to find his way back to Karl.

Outside of Leafville | 1:42 PM | Stefan & Karl

"Nej lycke i finnatter måt, Karl," Stefan told Karl, walking up from behind him. "Du vilja din rasjoner?"
"Ja. Ett sekond, dog, latta oss fa inside der LPF furst." The driver, Private Theodor Wilhelmsen, opened the door for the two so they could climb in.
"Harr du goen," Stefan handed Karl the NFR box and sat down. Theodor sat beside the pair whilst Coporal Donner Ljundburg, a squadmate of the other three closed the door. Ljundburg was the most experienced of the group and had been assigned as a guard should any local resistance ambush them.

Udøvendestillflyktsort | 5:02 PM | President Georg Lukas Johannsen

"Statusett pa der Vensonførening overenskommelse, Herr Larsen?" President Johannsen spoke. Johannsen, a member of the Monarklig-Republikansk Gille — a political party in Emerstari — was a fifty-five-year-old man from North Wehntii, one of Emerstari's seventeen states. He had graying blond hair with dark blue eyes and had been toiling in Emerstari's political realm for nearly two-and-a-half decades.
"Der VF ar i uppdelning; var kontrastors do ikke tro pa din løfte det vilje være effektiv, dygtig, åg godt fur der Urlistienors. De også tanka der VF skulle ikke give Dets fonder til enskild riker, din Eksellens" Thomes Larsen, an aid for the President, responded.
"Nej godt," Johannsen stated and turned to resume to his game of golf. He wasn't at the Udøvendesherregård in Coronet — one of Emerstari's capitals — rather, he was at the Udøvendestillflyktsort in his home state of North Whentii. North Whentii was one of the smaller and less populated states yet it was the wealthiest state per capita and was known, at least among other Emerstarians, for its scenery and historical sites.

Pvt. Danials C-Sec
His comrad ran over to him. He felt around. Alot of blood was pooling around him.

"Dont worry its not all yours." Someone said as he tried to get up feeling his head. There was a large bump and some blood coming off his face. He finally managed to get to his feet.

He looked around. Dead children lined the ally... He looked around for his rifle but after not finding it he walked over to a wall and sat down. He found his flask and took a large swig of water and passed out once more.

The Congress of the Green Union and Congressional Security representatives would come back and sign a deal for the largest actual purchase of aircraft in the new country’s history. While SG-80 and SG-77 fighters and some transport planes were included in the purchase, the vast majority of the airframes the government and military had bolted down that they wanted to acquire were various models of the SG-32 attacker, along with full support and training for a specialized flight of Sevevillian A-10 aircraft.

All went back to Himmelsdorf feeling as if they had put a real feather in their caps, save for one.

Holding his rifle him and another Sevillian were sitting in the bed of a old pickup truck. Him and three other ARF soldiers sat in the bed with three in the regular cab. Their mission was to blow power lines leading into a communewith a C-sec base. The breaker boxes were somewhat protected but not to the point where the mission was impossible. Five or six C-sec soldiers ran a checkpoint right next to the area. The truck. The old Toyota moved to a stop next to the checkpoint. A man in a C-sec uniform with a flashlight looked into the bed of the truck. At that moment the ARF soldiers started shooting at the C-sec men and Steve followed shortly after. He dove out of the bed and behind a barrier behind some other ARF men Reaching up over the barrier he looked down his sights and fired off a few shots in the direction of a C-sec soldier before ducking down and making sure the bomb he had been given with was still intact.

OOC: A much more sensible strategy, and one the ARF has used a lot, would be to blow up hydroelectric towers themselves to cut electricity to isolated areas. I will say that this is what they have done.

IC: The largest commune association in Arasland, known as the Lake Schwarz Communes, today lost electricity as a result of an armed ARF attack on the hydro towers which service the community. Early on in the insurgency sabotage against hyrdo towers had been a very common occurrence, but C-Sec had believed they mostly got the situation under control by stationing personnel along all potential targets 24/7. The effort, referred to in public dispatches as “Operation Lifeline”, has been one of the security force’s most successful projects and the most popular among Green Union citizens due to the risks associated with being without electricity for heating during the winter. Despite needing to police thousands of hydro towers, many only accessible by small helicopter, C-Sec had achieved a massive reduction in sabotage attempts. And, until now, no attempts had been made on a tower while a C-Sec squad was actually present. The difficult news has made C-Sec spokesmen publicly question whether the ARF may be receiving military aid from an outside source.

The community this attack aimed to cut off is also highly suspect. The Lake Schwarz Communes is the largest association of communal settlements in Arasland, with over a thousand individuals having before the war lived in several different communes around the north and east sides of the massive lake. Unlike many communes in the old Green Union, which were and often remain organized much like slightly larger family groups, the Lake Schwarz Communes have a much more society-based system reminiscent of a Communist nation with its own government, services, laws, and internal police. During the PGU period some observers would refer to the communes around the lake as a form of cult, while C-Sec quickly identified the place as a hotbed for extremists and established a very notable base there.

The Vilhalan mining corporation Rhodes and Sons™ has officially declared an end to its operations in the Green Union, and has ecstatically reported a surprise net profit. Despite having wasted millions prospecting for resources which were never found the company was approached by a Sevevillian business willing to offer a blank cheque for the land. Jumping at the opportunity to make the whole cursed adventure worth something, Rhodes and Sons™ named a price per square mile several million times higher than what they had purchased it for.

Weirdly, this ridiculous string of events has made investors start speculating what is so special about the tract of land which Hunter National Gas INC™ now owns. The company has actually seen its stock value increase rapidly over the last few hours, mostly due to them being bought up by Vilhalan sources.

WO2. Steffen Heydrich, 171st Fighter Reconnaissance Squadron, UFAF Air Force[/i]

The rest of the flight had returned two days ago when the battle had ended, and now while their planes are being repaired they have been given leave as per UFAF policy. With this, he took the opportunity to head out in the town today, and even with the cold the streets were crowded. The streets were full of people, and he watched an Arcadian Foreign Legion Patrol moved down the street with a MATV.

The city felt alive much more than before. Snow fell lightly today, but a heavy snowstorm was going to hit in a few days. Katerina was running late due to issues at her communes apartment in the city. Internet was put back up with a stronger signal, and construction teams from the Army Corps of Engineers have finally made it into the city from the south, and the east. Most of the construction was in the city center, and the city had about the size of a battalion engineers within the city limits. As Katerina arrived she walked through the door, and the cold air filled the cafe and she then sat down. She then began to talk "Sorry I was late, we had to deal with three inspectors who needed to inspect our apartment when they tried saying it was uninhabitable. " Steffen then asked, "So how did your building do?" She responded, "We gave them the go around, and slipped them some cash." Steffen laughed and said "Nice."

As the two talked a snowmobile pulled up outside, visible in fractured lines through the frosting glass front of the Arcadian-style café. This in itself wasn’t too odd, even as two large figures got off the vehicle. They spoke briefly to one another before one moved to come inside, the other staying stock-still in the swirling snow, bolt upright like a rabbit watching for wolves.

The other figure, a rather large man wrapped up heavily with a trapper hat and balaclava, pushed through the glass door and strode over to the counter, brushing a substantial amount of snow and ice off himself as he did. The place was actually quite empty, considering the Arcadian enclave they were in, and so he walked straight up to the woman at the register.

The young Asian worker with the coastal Amlug accent had started looking concerned the moment the two figures pulled up outside, but nonetheless strained to greet the newcomer. Though Heydrich and Katerina were some ways away the AAF pilot was still able to catch snippets of their conversation.

“I told you, Adrian, we don’t have the money.”

“I don’t believe you,” the man rumbled, the accent of another coastal Urlistan native clear in his voice, “and this is your last chance to pay up before we have to take action.”

“It’s not our fault!” The woman pleaded, “Business is slow. There’s less and less people coming in every day. Our only regulars are Arcadians who want a taste of the old country. You have to understand, we can’t pay you!”

The man shook his head. “You’ll pay your taxes today,” he said, moving his coat aside just enough that the woman, and Heydrich as well, could see the metal revolver which was tucked away in his jacket, “or the consequences will come sooner rather than later.”

“Jesus!” she hissed, turning pale, “okay, okay. Let me check the safe. If there really is nothing you can talk to Eliza yourself.” She hurried off into the back of the store, leaving the man waiting patiently at the counter.

All the while Katerina continued eating and making pleasant conversation, taking only a minor interest in the events near the counter.

When the man pulled who had brandished a gun to the cafe worker. he had stopped mid-sentence and he stood up. As he began to walk over Katerina grabbed his arm and said "Don't" Steffen pulled his arm away and made his way across the cafe and asked, "What is going on here?" Steffen's heartbeat began to pump faster, and faster and now he was wondering what was next to come?

The Green Union wrote:Sources in Himmelsdorf are reporting that C-Sec forces have begun taking military action to break up the violent protests at the University of Himmelsdorf campus. The school's student union, which has emerged as a leading force in orchestrating the event, has gone online to say that their attempts at reaching a peaceful resolution were walked out of by C-Sec negotiators shortly before the military's troops began advancing on the student barricades. At present shield-bearing security forces have clashed with protesters hurling stones and Molotov cocktails on Scholar's Street right at the edge of campus, with footage taken by students and bystanders showing the ensuing hand-to hand fighting. Crowds of students, mostly rallying around the cries of "Down with Turner" and "Vilhala out" though some videos have gone online of students chanting such lines as "Hang them all" and "Skewer the pigs". The display of red flags has been prominent, as has a stylized version of the double diamonds symbol of the Green Union. This symbol is unique in its method of drawing, which uses an X shape as its core. Such symbols seem to have been spray painted prominently all over the UofH campus and the surrounding area.

The first attempt by Congressional Security forces to forcibly end the University of Himmelsdorf student riots has met with failure, as footage posted online shows C-Sec troops in riot equipment being pelted heavily with stones and Molotov cocktails while attempting to approach the barricades. Despite the extensive application of nonlethal force the students largely did not break, defending the barricades with improvised weapons. Some security troops reportedly did manage to enter a few buildings on campus where they engaged in intense, close quarters fighting with the rioting students before being forced out.

C-Sec has now started allowing limited numbers of reporters into the site, and have told them that the choice to stop their first attack was due to the presence of firearms among rioters. According to them a small number of bolt action rifles had been seen, with the carriers often aiming threateningly in the direction of security forces. In the interest of deescalating what they believe to be an act of civil disobedience which no longer has control over itself C-Sec commanders are now attempting to reach out to the more “moderate” protesters.

Protest leaders, however, also claim that excessive force is being used against them. In a common area of one of the school’s colleges several of the supposed leaders of the disobedience, mostly composed of students holding positions in one student council or another and who had been outspoken on social media during the last hours, have gathered around tables set up in a form of semicircle. A camera and microphones had been set up in front of them for a much more official-looking presentation which is being fed live onto social media. Here the leaders first complained about rubber bullets and tear gas as well as what they view to be indiscriminate application of batons and a general willingness by soldier to "hit anything that moves". They claimed that their protests were only being violent in self-defence and played down or denying supposed acts of vandalism. If, they promised, C-Sec and the Himmelsdorf police guaranteed that the protests would not be broken up forcibly then they would cease all acts of self defence.

The students also denied the presence of firearms among protesters, saying that they were actively working to limit their movement’s use of force to less than or equal to that of C-Sec. In regards to what the “movement” actually stands for the group offered a set of demands. This is notable since no clear goal besides opposing the arrest of their colleagues was evident before now:

1. C-Sec will allow news crews and foreign representatives into the UofH campus to see the protests in action.

2. The blockade of the campus will be lifted, and people will be allowed to come and go as they please.

3. The three UofH students currently being held on terrorism charges will be released on bail and allowed to return to the university. Their case will be transferred from a closed military tribunal to an open civilian court verified by international observers for fairness.

4. Restrictions on UofH activities will be loosened, with banned groups like the Muslim Students Association allowed to meet and the politically motivated curriculum changes reversed.

5. C-Sec personnel will never set foot on campus ever again. If C-Sec wants a student on campus arrested on terrorism or treason charges they will notify the UofH student councils at least 48 hours in advance and instruct campus police to perform the arrest for them.

After this the leaders began a live Q&A session, talking mostly to interested foreign activists and reporters.

1. "Det ar kold som is, Karl," ... "Du omsorg å go inside bygganden?"
- "It is as cold as ice, Karl," ... "Do you care to go inside a building?"
2. "Ja, det ar kold, handla det. Det kan være verre i Emerstari, noenrutt,"
- "Yes, it is cold, handle it. It can get worse in Emerstari anyway,"
3. "Jeg vilje finna hvor å ata eften; jeg vilja-ikke å sløsa var ransjoner."
- "I will look for places to eat then; I don't want to waste our rations."
4. "Født det."
- "Got it."
5. "...pa måten."
- "...in a manner."
6. "Allt ratt eften,"
- "Alright then,"
7. "Om han ar medlemen av PAR, han sycket arikke godt pa i maskerett det; lycklig fur ham dær ar nej Arkadiensk soldators rundt harr, jeg gætte."
- "If he is a member of Par, he sure isn't good at masking it; luckily for him there are no Arcadian soldiers around here, I guess."
8. "Nej lycke i finnatter måt, Karl," ... "Du vilja din rasjoner?"
- "No luck finding food, Karl," ... "Do you want your rations?"
9. "Ja. Ett sekond, dog, latta oss fa inside der LPF furst."
- "Yes. One second, though, let's get inside the LPF first."
10. "Harr du goen,"
- "Here you go."

As the Emerstarian soldiers tried to defrost in their armoured vehicle the locals were clearly not idle. Cars were not common here, but the drivers of the few that passed stared with apprehensive interest at the Emerstari symbols on the otherwise familiar-looking vehicle. Through the snow and freezing rain the sentry could see that they were not comfortable with what they saw.

And it was not long before someone seemed to decide that something needed to be done about these new soldiers. Barely, through the obstruction, the Emerstarian saw a grey pickup truck stop at the country intersection up the road. It tried to conceal itself partially behind trees, but the experienced eyes of Ljundburg caught on right away to the fact that they were being watched.

It continued like this for some minutes, until yet another motorist passed the military vehicle on its way up the road. When it came to the pickup it slowed, as if having received instructions, and stopped. One could barely see the driver gesturing backwards in the direction of the LAV-type vehicle. In a moment the other car moved on and the idling pickup turned on its lights to move forward.

Image
While LAV-style vehicles are common in Urlistan, locals have never seen one in Emerstarian markings

As the Emerstarians started to consider that something may be up the pickup drove right up to them. An sleek, Arcadian style automatic transmission pickup was in itself a strange sight in an urban-clustered nation with little real automobile culture, but the way it was acting was even more suspect. The vehicle approached slowly, foglights on in a way which meant the soldiers could not look to see who was driving without the painful light in their eyes.

When finally the pickup was only a few car lengths away it stopped. The moment was tense, as the occupants of both vehicles seemed to wonder what the other would do. But finally the pickup's lights turned off and three figures stepped out, approaching the IFV. Though buffeted by the heavy snow and clearly apprehensive they were still trying to put on an air of authority.

The first two came close enough to make out some features, and the Emerstarians were uneasy to see two large men, their identities hidden behind layers of bulky clothes, scarves and balaclavas. It was impossible to miss, though, the matching black armbands both wore.

The first man, clearly a leader of sorts, flashed some kind of official looking badge with the green dragon of Urlistan on it towards the vehicle. "Patriotic Amlug Resistance here! We just want to ask you some questions."

WO2. Steffen Heydrich, 171st Fighter Reconnaissance Squadron, UFAF Air Force

OOC: Sorry for the short post

The large man looked over at the small Arcadian with an air of surprise, like he hadn't expected someone to object to what he was doing. But he soon got over himself, simply cocking his head in confusion. "Protection tax, kid. All businesses have to pay it, even your favourite coffee shop."

It was clear both Heydrich and the balaclava-wearing man were feeling awkward. Neither really knew what the other wanted or was there for. Luckily it was right then that Katerina appeared at Steffen's shoulder to save the day.

"He's with the government," she said hurriedly, flashing a worried smile at the man, "just let him do his job." She then tugged on Heydrich's arm in an almost panicked fashion, trying to get him to come back to their table.

As this happened the café worker came back, a small bundle of bills and a phone in her hand. She looked away, seemingly embarrassed to see Steffen and Katerina standing there as she handed them over to the man, apologizing the the small amount. The man in the balaclava took both and, with a curt nod to both the woman and teens, stepped off to an empty area of the café to speak quietly with whoever was on the other side.

OOC: I want to remind the people who have been silently watching this thread progress (yes, I can see you) that the incident is completely open. It's not much work to make a one or two paragraph political post stating your nation's position on the conflict and why, and doing so gives me so much more material as an OP.

Having to construct events and play them out on my own gets old, and slows me down given all the additional work. If you're interested in getting involved but aren't quite sure what to do then by all means shoot me a TG or, even better, join our regional discord.

Leafville
Outside of Leafville | Afternoon | Corporal Donner Ljundburg

Ljundburg thought to himself, "Valdigt godt... valdigt godt; vat ar dessa mander harr å være dor?" He put the facemask that he had on over his nose and briefly looked at the Urlistanis. Corporal Ljundburg then pushed himself through the winds and snow, taking a few steps towards them; his gait was like that of many other of his fellow brethren-in-arms in the Royal Military, with reduced swinging of the right arm — a "gunslinger's gait." "Then, by all means, proceed, min Herr."

The Amlug cocked his head, clearly not familiar with the formality with which Emerstarians conducted a seemingly normal conversation. "Right... well, we've had reports from several of the locals that you boys are going around harassing them. Meanwhile, we thought you promised to stay on your base and out of the way. What's up?"

Ljundburg was, for a second, disoriented by the lack of formality of the Amlug when it came to this conversation; perhaps Ljundburg's assumption that this was a moderately high ranking official in PAR contributed to his behavior. "While I am the one in my squad least suited to talk of this sort, I, with all due respect to Urlistan, highly doubt that what they were doing could be qualified as harassment. I understand that men in military uniforms may give them a fright, reminding them of the Arcadians; however, our two Sergeants were simply walking around observing day-to-day life and asking a question or two that were issued to us from command."

"Look, I don't really care what you think you're doing. The locals are complaining about non-Arcadians sticking their noses where they don't belong, and now we see that it's you blokes who've broken your promise to stay out of combat areas."

Clearly thinking his comrade was being too callous, the other PAR member stepped in, "What we mean to say is that it troubles our organization to hear these things. The Amlug people, I hope you can understand, tend to be very nervous these days speaking about their political beliefs. Many are no doubt worried they will be reported to the Arcadians if they say something out of line." The man stopped to look around, as if suddenly wondering if there might be UFAF or AAF soldiers hiding in the snowbanks or behind a tree, listening to them. "At the same time, we are troubled to see you in a combat area. If, regrettably, an Emerstarian were to be caught in between the Arcadians and Amlug the political fallout could be severe. This is why I hope you don't mind," the second man said apologetically, "if we search your vehicle and have a thorough discussion about your reasons for being here. We all just want to be on the same page."

Ljundburg cleared his throat and pulled the facemask down past his chin with his left hand; and though he was more comfortable with these Urlistanis, his right hand remained at his side. "You can refer to me as Corporal Ljundburg then, or simply Donner, I guess, as it seems the formalities," he struggled for a moment. While his English was mostly good, he occasionally had some troubles with how the words am, are, and be should be used, "The formalities seem to be not required." Pausing for a second, he grabbed his flask, "What shall I call you, min Herrar? I will let you search our vehicle provided you promise to remain civil; could I offer you men kalkekottsmorgåsener or maybe we could have dryckingen?"

1. "Valdigt godt... valdigt godt; vat ar dessa mander harr å være dor?"
- "Great... great; what are these men here for?"

2. "...min Herr"
- "...my sir"

3. "...kalkekottsmorgåsener..."
- No real translation; literally means turkey meat sandwich

4. "...dryckingen?"
- No real translation; literally means: a gathering to drink together

He stood there gobsmacked on how they would just come in here, without papers or anything! He turned to the women behind the counter and asked: "I'm guessing the tax service does not do mail?"

PV2. Tristian Lopez, 8th Infantry Battalion, 1st Regiment, GRAFL

Tritian Lopez had graduated from the 'castle' only a few weeks ago, and the foreign legion had sent him to this frozen oasis. Tristian grew up in Orzola and joined the legion for some adventure. He wished he had been sent to Anavokya instead but here he was pulling security. He stood in the back of the MATV watching as people walked by, and the thick crowd moved as this damned cold never bothered them. Tristian had a bavlaca over his face, and his gloves kept the cold out. The city seemed as if the war had never happened, and things were getting back to what they should be.

The Green Union wrote:The first attempt by Congressional Security forces to forcibly end the University of Himmelsdorf student riots has met with failure, as footage posted online shows C-Sec troops in riot equipment being pelted heavily with stones and Molotov cocktails while attempting to approach the barricades.

After this the leaders began a live Q&A session, talking mostly to interested foreign activists and reporters.

OOC: Nobody has chosen to engage with this story in any way yet. This opportunity to call in may be the last chance before the arc ends.

Congressional Security forces after their initial withdrawal renewed efforts to reach out to more reasonable protesters in the UofH campus. They promised that no charges would be brought against anyone who simply walked off the premises within a few hour timeline, and announced that any foreign or dual citizen students which remained after that point would be deported back to “where you came from.” This led to a substantial outflow of students, many of whom told news crews that they believed the protest had become too radical or that they had invested too much money into their degree to lose everything now.

C-Sec sources never did acknowledge the demands of the self-declared protest leaders, and some hours after being forced out they began a second push to gain control of the campus. The students’ pleas to the international community had gone unheeded, and this time with the security troopers backed up by armoured construction vehicles and newly supplied stocks of tear gas the barricades were torn down.

What happened afterwards is up to anyone’s interpretation. Slews of shaky footage was soon streamed online of a general melee within common areas, courtyards, and dining halls. Some clips were of students with their arms peacefully linked being beaten down by C-Sec. Others showed students hurling Molotov cocktails from dorm windows onto the security personnel below. Many more were hardly distinguishable, as students and soldiers fought eachother with batons and improvised bats in crowded hallways. Everyone seemed to have the decency to do their fighting indoors, out of the cold.

But the most concerning piece came of a small group of perhaps a half dozen individuals with only a phone camera, streaming from some poorly lit dorm room. Wearing red and black masks and posing with a collection of bolt action rifles and revolvers, they encouraged the ARF, ARCC, and KJ rebel groups to come to the aid of the students. They complained about the protest leadership being weak and reactionary, and vowed to fight on to the bitter end just like their comrades in the Liberated Free Nations.

It was not long after that video ended that the first shots started being heard from the university campus. Congressional Security forces claimed they had encountered armed terrorists, and soon armoured soldiers slinging rifles began pouring into the premises.

By 10:00 that night, just under nineteen hours since the siege began, it was all over. C-Sec had reported over two dozen armed terrorists killed, and many more unarmed protesters injured in the fighting. At least fifty security troopers were wounded, some seriously. After a thorough search of the campus they announced that the entire self-declared student leadership was dead, having been shot all together “like fish in a barrel” in the college they were organizing the movement from. C-Sec says this was done by rogue protesters.

Image
A large medical presence backed up the C-Sec intervention in the protest, but not everyone could be saved

Despite at least one major breakout attempt to escape the C-Sec cordon, the security force is convinced everyone present during the second push was arrested. The number of students now being held is far too large to move by truck or otherwise, so all are being detained in commons areas while being processed. A C-Sec spokesman reassured worried families outside the perimeter that most protesters would be allowed to go free while awaiting their day in court.

OOC: Just a reminder that this is literally an event where students were killed in a university riot. Anyone can take a political stance on this, and inflame it by saying their own citizens were present.

Pvt. Fal Cote, C-Sec Security Forces near the UofH, Himmelsdorf, the Green Union:

The C-Sec soldier simply sat in a daze, mind numb. Lying in front was the still body of Jason Danials, his many wounds dressed and a half dozen IV needles sticking out of his body. The memories of how the two had gotten there were a blur. Passersby had appeared, tried to help, and Cote had had to stand between grieving parents and the bodies of their children.

Oh god, the children . . .

The wimpering, the convulsions, the blood turned to ice in the wounds. The terror on parents’ faces, and having to threaten them with a bayonet to keep them away. One hysterical mother she had had to stab, before the woman was dragged back into the crowd. What had become of her?

When help finally arrived most of the shot had died of hypothermia, their bodies frozen stiff in the positions they had fallen in as they were loaded onto stretchers. Several security soldiers had thrown up when they saw the scene, or simply sat down and cried. Cote was taken off the shift as soon as possible.

How that led to where they were now, in a room in what was once called the Himmelsdorf Emerald Hospital, was anyone’s guess. Now she just stared into space, her mind turned off.

Because every time her eyes closed she saw them again; Children crying, dying, and her to blame. A little girl, younger than the rest, tugging on her stiffening sister’s hand. “Aspen, Aspen get up. You need to take me to school, Aspen.”

Frieherr James Munche

He had left the conference an hour ago, as neither side could come to an agreement, and as he was being driven back to the airfield, he was called by his assistant back in Casatolo and was informed of the situation in the Green Union. It was a massacre with political leaders and children dead in the Vilhalan backed Green Union in the aftermath of the Himmelsdorf protests. He was needed to give a public statement on the massacre.

"The situation in the wake of the Himmelsdorf protests in appalling and goes against the morals of all nations in the world. The act of murdering these young children and political dissidents is deeply troubling. This event just shows how unsuited this puppet regime in the Green Union is. The fact that these young minds were killed in cold blood is troubling. I urge nations of the world to watch, to ensure that this does not happen again whether it be at home or abroad. I urge the nation of Vilhala to sanction the puppet regime they have set up, and I urge the puppet state in the Green Union to allow foreign investigators from the KP to look into the deaths that resulted of the CGU's deadly response."

The Green Union wrote:Congressional Security forces after their initial withdrawal renewed efforts to reach out to more reasonable protesters in the UofH campus.

(Image)

The CSD has responded with horror at the sight of the footage and images coming out of Himmelsdorf with the Prime Minister, Kanoma Tekeshi, making a speech in response to the happenings:

"This is a disgrace, we made a positive relationship with this new Green Union hoping for a peaceful solution to this conflict, in order to stop the bloodshed. Only now do I see the error of my ways, we condemn the actions taken by Congressional Security forces, we condemn Congress of Green Union and finally, people of the Green Union, we no longer have tolerance for the butchery taking place in this once peaceful country. As of this moment, all Durranese companies will be pulling out of the GU, any Durranese working there shall be returning to find work else where. If the CGU or their C-Sec lap dogs complicate any of this, the wrath of the mountain father will be upon you and the jackals in Vilhala will not be able to save you."

The Prime Minister swiftly moved on taking no questions.

Later that day, SFD HQ, Unknown Location

"Yes Prime Minister, it will be done. Yes. Thank you, may the evening be fruitful for you." The shadowed man put down the phone and turned to a woman sitting in a chair in front of him and then spoke. "We have no reins on this one Oiwa, make sure the job is done and make sure you aren't seen."

Oiwa stood.

"With pleasure, Director."

The Green Union wrote:Eule, Coldhand Mine, Arasland:

The Aras felt strange in her new clothes. Used to furs and thick cotton, the denim jeans and plastic workvest of a miner may as well have been apparel from a different planet. The last hour or so had been a blur. After working up the nerve to disrobe in Samson’s room and use the strange man’s shower things had moved very fast, her being jostled from place to place in a hurry. At some point her old clothes had completely disappeared, along with anything she had left in them. The good news was that the teenage girl was starting to feel aware enough to care about where her phone was.

Eule sat on some sort of heavy industrial equipment, her legs extended and hands dug deep into their pockets, thinking her own thoughts. That was when Samson, a guy the Aras girl was getting really tired of, appeared in front of her.

Eule blinked a couple times at the question. “Don’t play dumb,” she simply scoffed, “if you already know we’re the Hasenkriegers.”

She folded her arms, rolling her eyes and puffing at a single strand of hair which had started getting rebellious since her new pixie cut. "We protect the people from murderers like you. We stop the war from coming to our villages. We . . . we . . . oh, come on."

The girl grit her teeth and looked away, but the tears were already flowing. "I promised to help protect us. I promised I would go find food, and instead I brought back the Arcadians. That's what they wanted, wasn't it? The pilots only wanted the Arcadians. If I hadn't brought them to the camp then maybe . . . maybe . . ."

Pvt. Henry Wolz, C-Sec Land Security, Coldhand Mine, Arasland

“Get up there, crew,” their corporal barked, “find a good spot for the MG.”

Wolz shivered as he and the assistant gunner hauled the GPMG across the tarmac, having just dismounted into the swirling snow of the eternal Arctic nighttime. Illuminated only by the spotlights they quickly moved to a stack of shipping containers, waving away the protests of a mine employee who got in their way. Their assigned duty was to take up an overlook position, and the only way the rest of the team could feel confident in playing nice was if there was a .30 Cal machine gun backing them up.

And back up their coworkers was what the small three-man machine gun team intended to do. Once hauling eachother and their weapon up on top of one of the few single high containers the soldiers began consolidating their position. From their vantage point they observed the wrapup of their men engaging with the mine guards, seeing their success in convincing them to take Captain Smith to their objective. Relieved, the C-Sec gunner started fumbling with the ammunition boxes, trying to get a grip with his oversized gloves even as the flitting snow and low light complicated things.

Henry was a Calen native and had thought he was acclimatized to the harsh Green Union winters, but compared to what he was feeling now Calendôr seemed positively tropical. Even though Henry was in a position shielded from the wind the chill seemed to have gotten inside him, turning the very marrow of his bones to ice. The soldier almost wished he hadn’t taken such a demanding job.

The key word there was almost, because no matter how rough the work as a security trooper became there was no way he would stop doing it. Even as a young UofH student Henry and his colleagues could see that the old parliament was rotten to the core, its abolition long overdue. And even if the current Congress was a little rough around the edges it was still obvious that the system which put it in place was a far better foundation for a new country. A decade or a century down the road a deregulated, Capitalist single republic under this model would still be a beacon of democracy, whereas a return to the old Union guaranteed only partisan politics and threats of national successions. The young man loved his homeland and the newfound freedom they were all still learning to appreciate, despite knowing that it would fall to a few brave men to secure its future. But if he had to be one of those men he would, if only so his wife and kids could live free.

They finished readying the GPMG mere minutes before they received word that their air cover had departed. With the jets which had been circling this mine gone it fell to Henry and his team to keep their coworkers safe. Some time later someone waved that a C-130 electronic warfare aircraft was overhead, and due to a lack of information and to be on the safe side it would be jamming all wireless signals in the mine including their own radio communications. This was the first tip Henry got that something serious was going down.

But there was still a job to do, and even though there were plenty of corporate security around they could never be too careful. Henry, his corporal, and their assistant gunner huddled together on the cold metal of the shipping container, peering off through the searchlights at the perimeter of the landing area. Down below their platoon didn't seem to be feeling much more comfortable, doing their best to maintain a perimeter while the local PMCs wandered around and made themselves a general annoyance.

That was when it went to shit.

All of a sudden there were the distinct sound of shots on the far side of the landing pad. Henry perked up as some of the troops on the ground staggered, others instinctively giving a burst of reactive fire and dove for the snow. But through the thick snowstorm it was impossible to see what was going on beyond the lights (all of which illuminated the C-Sec troops, for some reason). The corporal got up, peering through the malestrom for what seemed like far too long as the snaps continued from both sides, until he seemed to catch something.

"Over there, Private!" he yelled, gesturing wildly to a corner of the compound, "hose e'm down by that wall!"

Coldhand Mine, Arasland, GU
Sergeant Samson Carwin

Samson was taken back, he expected the response, however, he kept his cool and continued watching her. The girl almost reminded Samson of his own daughter, whom he had not seen for months now, nearly a year. Similar age, a similar attitude and a similar opinion of him and his job. It nearly made him smile, but he hid it before it could grow. After a few seconds, Samson spoke up. "It's not your fault, Eule." Silence devoured the room for a moment. "In fact, the truth is infinitely more simple." Eule frowned not entirely understanding what he meant. "Your people died because someone wanted to kill them. No rhyme, no reason, and you survived because fate decided that would be so." Samson got up and went to a locker near her, opening it and throwing out winter clothing along with a bag of supplies. "I am a murderer, but if you've killed anyone who tried to get to your camp to hurt your people, you are too." He turned to look at her, whether she was looking her or not. "The only thing that makes a damn difference is that we do it to protect the people we love," he said calmly.

The wind crept into the room, Samson realised that his men were now staring at him from the door they were looking out, and the cold had snuck up on him during his small speech. He turned back to Aras girl, with a stern look. "The only reason why I'm doing this right now is because no one is coming to save you." The sergeant walked over to his men and opened the door, telling them something in Durranese. The two soldiers looked at Eule and then back at their commander, then went outside. Samson turned back to the girl. "You're on your own Eule, and we're all you've got... one minute, get that kit on, we're leaving, and if I don't see you, you won't see us, but you will see the C-Sec soldiers taking this mine.

Samson left, leaving the teenage girl in the cold.

Himmelsdorf, CGU

Hugo Plas

Hugo stood looking out at the crowd, as C-Sec and foreign press swarm the aftermath of the shooting. The snow fell from the grey sky and the crowd grew ever larger. Hugo looked down at his watch and it was about time to check in with Wood. Hugo turned to his left and walked down the road and pulled his phone out of his pocket, the phone was connected to a secure line and he called into it "Mr. Wood are you able to talk?"

This situation provided the perfect opportunity for a justification for military intervention, or for Wood to cause more of a divide within the Congress. This event while terrible could work to their advantage. This would, of course, would make his stay in this place longer. Looks like he would have to wait for this to subside before he can go on leave back to Arcadia to see his family. Luckily his debrief would be much easier since the special operations team from Mont Coulon made it back a few days ago. Back at the control center, the other three agents were working on ways to manipulate this event against C-Sec.

He stood in front of Congress and he began to speak "My fellow Unionists, a travesty of human rights and dignity has ripped through the hearts of our brothers in the occupied states of the Green Union. The vile Vilhalan puppet state has massacred innocent civilians! Lives cut short by the jackbooted thugs of Vilhala. This is a call to arms for all people of the world to not avert their eyes to the war crimes committed on a daily basis in this horror of a state. Look! Look! Action needs to be taken, the war criminals in the Congress of the Green Union need to be prosecuted! The Vilhalan dogs need to pay for the loss of life they have inflicted. First, they came into our homes during the invasion, and now they continue to attack, berate and kill our people! This shall not stand!"

From: Henricus Maro, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Altos and Stratis
Subject: Trade Talks and Humanitarian Aid

To: Martin Chessur

After our productive trade talks in Himmelsdorf, my government has authorized me to make an offer of humanitarian aid and financial aid to rebuild civilian infrastructure. This would include but not be limited to, medical supplies, food, and building supplies. While the financial aid would be a series of zero interest loans and funding for civilian projects to be built by local contractors.

Sincerely,

Emerstari
Rensulier
Leijonhjuvudettshistoritetssamlingett | Early March | King Eric XII and Duke Thomes Lorenssen

"Ja, din Majestet," a man with a hue of hair somewhere between the color of a fox and that of a golden retriever, and eyes gray like the Norrsjo, who was in the employment of the Emerstarian Royal Family — Frederik Andersson —, announced some seconds ere to vanishing, having wandered into another one of the many halls within Leijonhjuvudettshistoritetssamlingett, which in English translates approximately to the Leijonhjartas' Collection of the History; the complex that forms Leijonhjuvudettshistoritetssamlingett consists of two buildings, which are joined by a minute antechamber in-between, down only a few blocks from Rensulier Palace — the palace that acts as the primary residence of the Emerstarian monarch and his, or her, immediate family. It had been constructed in the years of 1719 and 1721 — and of course, the years betwixt —, to act as a new administrative building for the Emerskkyrka, for the former building that had held this role had not been updated in any way whatsoever since its renovations in AD 1257. The building today, however, acts as an archive alongside the Nasjonellarkivetter. Although, unlike the Nasjonellarkivetter, Leijonhjuvudettshistoritetssamlingett is an archive of Emerstarian history pertaining to the royals, the Church of Emerstari, and other things of that sort.

As well as Manniske Andersson, though excluding the staff that worked in the Royal Archives, six others were present there at noon; whilst three of these, four if you were to include the aforementioned Manniske Andersson, were aides of Emerstari's Royal Family, the remaining two of these persons there were members of the Royal Family themselves. Of these two, one was the King of Emerstari — that is, shortening his nearly 200-worded title, His Majesty, Eric XII Georg of Emerstari. His Majesty's hair was not as brown as it used to be (he had been blond in childhood, but in adulthood, his hair became a light brown) — it was now a brown sprinkled with bits of gray. Nevertheless, his eyes were obviously just as blue as they had always been, and his height of 6' had not changed either. Although, as he was 66-years-old, the king was not as in trim as his younger self had been. The other royal was not a member of the King's immediate family; rather, he was a member of the greater House of Eric — Emerstari's branch of it, of course —, for he was the second cousin once removed of King Eric XII Georg: Thomes Lorenssen, the Duke of Ekkesburg (a small duchy, relative to the others, in southwestern Yoerks Stat). Lorenssen was not as old as his cousin and sovereign, being 59-years-old, but his hair had grayed just as much.

The King, as a man generally interested in history, but especially interested in the history of the country that he leads and that which his ancestors had led, frequented Leijonhjuvudettshistoritetssamlingett; however, this visit, in particular, was quite a bit more important than many of his preceding meanders through the halls of the Royal Archives. The pair of cousins had sought help from the Royal Archives in order to trace (although truthfully, the two were simply conversing with each other as their lackeys brought forth to them anything that might serve the cause) the ancestry of the House of Eric. More specifically, they were seeking kinship between the House of Eric and the family of the late King Wolfe VI, the Aglarebs.
"Val, min Kusin, hur være der goener pa din hjem?" the dynast questioned of his duke.
"Valdigt godt, Eric; der våder aven nærmer siig å varm! det nærmer siig varm!" Thomes teased his cousin.
"Finnar. Jeg ville onskar at jeg kunne pratar sammalig," Eric replied whilst watching a small cluster of old, bearded clergymen nod to them as they saunter through.

It was only an hour or so of conversation between the King and the Duke until their factotums brought before them copious piles of aged, worn documents, most of which offered no new reinforcement to the royals' cause; although, there were several documents that did. After a short while of prodding through the knolls of paper, Eric bid "farvel" to his cousin, as well as to the servantry, telling them that he was going to visit Rensulier Cathedral and proceeded to exit the Royal Archives. Gustafssen (King Eric X Olaf, Emerstari's king from 1916 to 1972 had declared Gustafssen to be the surname of the immediate kindred of the Emerstarian monarch, at least until a future monarch should replace it) then began towards his chauffeur, his shoes crunching the snow underneath him that overspread Rensulier. Eric XII Georg climbed into the back seat of the car, directing the chauffeur — Manniske Peterssen, a moderately short thirty-something-year-old man who bore hair as dark as the night on both his head and on a beard which he was attempting to grow out — to drive toward Rensulier Cathedral, so he could attend a service there before returning to the palace. Shortly after his cousin's leave, Thomes bade farewell as well: "Har kvar disse utt fur var tilbage, snalla. Takke." He, unlike his cousin had, did not provide his reason to the four attendants: the blondish-orange Manniske Andersson and Mannisker Ljundburg, Karlsson, and Strandburg. Had he told the four his reason, it would have simply been that he was worn out of sorting through old manuscripts for the day and wished to return to his wife and dog at Rensulier Palace.

The subsequent day, the pair of men returned to the Royal Archives and were greeted by Reverend Brundt, the Director of Leijonhjuvudettshistoritetssamlingett (per tradition, the administrator of the Royal Archives, or Director, was an ordanined official of the Emerskkyrka, who was selected by the monarch when the previous one was no longer deemed capable of serving by him/her). After a brief period of conversation with the pastor, the royals regrouped with their four servitors in a room located somewhere in the southern end of the eastern building of the archive complex. They, then, resumed examining the manifold of papers resting upon the table.

Having been at work for several hours, it was now four o'clock in the afternoon. Therefore, in order to attend the soirée at Rensulier Palace that day, Eric apologized to the others for his leave and returned to his home (as monarch, he was expected to attend). After several more discoveries, the remaining five unanimously agreed to adjourn for the day (in total, the six had been doing work regarding the ancestry of the House of Eric and the Aglareb family for just over two weeks).

Rensulierpalats | Early March | Duke Thomes Lorenssen

Lorenssen stepped out of his limousine and onto the snow-blanketed bricks of Rensulier Palace's avenue. He thought of his snow-free estate outside the town of Hreldensstad in Yoerks Stat as he fastened his coat to be more secure since the winds picked up. As his Yoerske estate, Bladdal, was in Emerstari's east and Rensulier was in central Emerstari, Thomes was, therefore, was allotted a room in Rensulier Palace by his extended family.

Thomes, with no appointments and/or particular place he had ought to be, brushed his hair aside and progressed further down the pathway, so he might attend the sorée. "Godt eftermiddeg," Lorenssen spoke to the two Royal Guards which minded the gate.
"Samma å dig, din Eksellens," replied the guards in unison. Whilst one could not make out their features which made them unique from one another — due to the uniforms —, one could clearly see that both wore blue coats, lined with white, with large bearskin hats and had light blue eyes. The three all nodded to one another, as was common in Emerstari, and Thomes then made his way into the royal palace and then into the Ball Room. On his way, he nodded to even more people whether they be attendees of the sorée, Eric XII Georg's courtiers, or palace staff who were tending to the guests as he traversed.

Upon entering the Ball Room, he crossed paths with a man holding a tray of drinks and promptly acquired one for himself. Whilst taking a sip of his drink, the Duke suddenly remembered a man who would most certainly be present at the evening's sorée yclept Frederik Olafssen — a man who held a significant position within the Foderalbyrå av Intelligens, known to be a Monarchic-Republic (a classical liberal political party in Emerstari that was characterized by their support of the monarchy), and a good friend of several royal family members. Lorenssen turned around, trying to spot Olafssen, nearly colliding with the man.

The Green Union wrote:The Congress of the Green Union and Congressional Security representatives would come back and sign a deal for the largest actual purchase of aircraft in the new country’s history.

The first Sevevillian SG aircraft have today arrived in the port of Mont Coulon, having been shipped into the Green Union from Sevevill. Their appearance was marked with a large press conference attended by numerous high level officials including Martin Chessur (minister of foreign affairs) and William Foster (minister of defense), in addition to some SG industry representatives. The city of Mont Coulon is still very much an active combat zone, and reporters were not informed of the event until mere hours before for security reasons. Still, though, the press conference was held in the open air within view of the shattered condominiums. It was a not-so-subtle way to send a message; The government is slowly but surely winning the battle for Mont Coulon, and making the city safe once again.

Some sources have suggested that the plan was originally to have the jets flown from Sevevill directly, but requests for stopovers in Vilhala had actually been denied to C-Sec. Other sources suggest there was a shortage of pilots able to be spared for the journey.

Durradon wrote:The CSD has responded with horror at the sight of the footage and images coming out of Himmelsdorf with the Prime Minister, Kanoma Tekeshi, making a speech in response to the happenings:

Chief Regent Emil Hošek

While the Congress of the Green Union has protested vigorously against the aggressive and completely unfair terminology used to describe their government, it has quietly bowed to overwhelming international pressure and allowed some international investigators to examine the aftermath of the University of Himmelsdorf riots which C-Sec in large part had to forcibly put down. The investigators included teams from the WA, CMEP, and KP, and did not advertise their presence for the first few days of being there.

However, after three days of analyzing the evidence all the parties reached a tentative conclusion: Congressional Security forces during the final (most bloody) couple hours of the protests had, by and large, showed a commendable degree of restraint in the face of armed opposition. The massacre of the protest leaders had not been carried out by C-Sec.

Sincerely,

The foreign affairs office of the Congress of the Green Union has responded enthusiastically to this offer of assistance, especially in a time when many members of the international community are withdrawing their support from or actively threatening the government.

CGU officials have immediately begun organizing themselves to work with their counterparts in Altos and Stratis, and have offered some hotspots into which reconstruction efforts should be funneled. The largest of these by far is the city of Mont Coulon, as recent efforts by Congressional Security have been claimed to have made large amounts of progress in stabilizing parts of the inner city and driving out insurgents of the so-called ARCC. Officials are confident that reconstruction can now begin in these areas.

Vocab lesson for today.
Klick – Kilometer
OP – Observation Post
GPS – If you don’t know what this is, how big of a rock have you been living under? And can I borrow it?
IR - Infrared
Outskirts of Mont Coulon
“Well, this is going to be fun,” Nova said sarcastically to the cold arctic air.
This earned a whispered snicker from Kerrigan.
A forest encompassed them, its trees devoid of leaves and waiting for the embrace of spring.
“Let’s hold up here for a second and check the GPS,” Nova said.
“Alright, I’ll cover” Kerrigan responded as she moved up and took cover behind a small tree.
“Alright let’s see where we are.” Nova thought as she as pulled the GPS from her belt.
“We are about a klick* and half out from the OP*,” Nova said as she finished checking the GPS.
As she returned the GPS to her belt, snow began to fall. “Great, a snowstorm just what we need.” Nova thought and let out a sigh.
“Alrighty, let get going then,” Kerrigan replied
“While you were checking the GPS, the snow started back up,” Kerrigan said.
“Thanks captain obvious,” Nova replied.
Kerrigan chuckled in response.
“Alright, let’s hurry up and get to the OP before the weather gets worse,” Nova said.
25 Minutes later
“Well, at least we got out of that terrible wind,” Nova said as she warmed up by the fire.
“Command sure does know how to pick them though, this place is trashed, looks like the previous owners left in a hurry,” Kerrigan said while gesturing to the room that surrounded them. It was trashed, there were ceiling panels on the floor, the windows had been broken out and some parts of the roof was missing.
“Looks like the storm is getting worse,” Nova said as she moved to the window.
“We should sit tight while we wait for the storm to let up,” Kerrigan replied.
“I agree, there is no point in blundering around in the storm and getting frostbite,” Nova replied.
“You should get some rest, I’ll take the first watch and I’ll wake you if the storm subsides,” Kerrigan said.
Nova thought about Kerrigan’s suggestion, and then about how she had not slept on the flight as Kerrigan had.
“Okay, I will get try to get some sleep,” Nova replied.
Nova unpacked her bedroll and laid down next to the fire. Where she quickly fell asleep.
Two Hours Later
“Hey, wake up,” Kerrigan said while attempting to wake Nova.
“Just five more minutes,” Nova mumbled in sleep.
“Wake up!” Kerrigan shouted at Nova.
Nova snapped awake.
“Okay, okay I’m up,” Nova said startled.
“Good, the storm has started to die down,” Kerrigan said
“Ah, so we should probably get a move on,” Nova replied.
“Well, at least you’re already thinking what I am thinking, now pack up your stuff and get your Night Vision Goggles out.”
Nova hurriedly packed up her bedroll and put the rest of her gear on.
“Ready?” Kerrigan inquired as she waited by the door.
“Ready,” Nova replied when she joined Kerrigan at the door.
They both flipped down their NVG’s and Kerrigan opened the door.
“Let’s go,” Kerrigan said as she moved through the doorway.
As Nova cleared the doorway, she noticed that the visibility had substantially increased but the wind had picked up and it was howling in her ears even through her headset.
Suddenly her headset came to life. “The wind is too loud, we are going to have to use radios,” Kerrigan said.
“How far to the second OP?” Nova asked.
“About three klicks, although we might encounter C-Sec patrols when we reach the outer edges of the city.” Kerrigan replied.
A few minutes later
As they drew closer, the skyline of Mount Coulon began to grow from the darkness, its dark skyscrapers standing guard over the ruined city.
While they were walking Nova was taking in the sights more than, Kerrigan who was watching for threats, was not letting her gaze linger for more than a few seconds.
Nova noticed a few specks of light in the otherwise dark city during their walk.
“So, this place isn’t as dead as it looks.” She thought.
“You never realize big and foreboding a city is until its dark and empty.” Nova said.
“Yea it’s kind of creeping me out.” Kerrigan replied.
“What the hell went on here” Nova continued as past they burnt out buildings and rubble.
“No idea, I can’t tell if this is from the invasion or something else.” Kerrigan replied as they passed a burnt-out apartment block with some of its upper floors collapsed.
Further up the block was a 3-way intersection with an alley about a block in front of it. As they were approaching the alley. Kerrigan froze and crouched; Nova quickly followed her example.
“I think I heard something,” Kerrigan said.
Nova moved her headset partially off her ears. At first, she heard nothing more than the howling of the wind. But then in between the wind gusts, she heard a low rumbling and clanking.
Kerrigan had noticed it as well “Quickly, get to the alley.” She instructed.
They ran forward toward the alley and as they reached it, a C-Sec patrol began to appear at the intersection with an Infantry fighting vehicle accompanying them.
“Shit, we have to move.” Kerrigan said.
The patrol began to move down their street.
“Down the alley!” Kerrigan ordered.
Kerrigan broke into a run, with Nova hot on her heels.
As they were running down the alley Kerrigan noticed an alleyway to her left, leading towards the street the patrol had just left. Kerrigan reached it, and peaked around the corner.
“It’s clear,” Kerrigan said.
Kerrigan motioned for Nova to follow.
Kerrigan after informing Nova that the alley was clear, turned the corner and began moving down the alley.
“Kerrigan is moving too fast and isn’t watching where she was going.” Nova thought.
But before she could say anything though, Kerrigan fell, and landed hard on the frozen ground.
Nova moved up to check on Kerrigan, though more cautiously than Kerrigan had.
“Fuck, that hurt!” Kerrigan hissed.
“You okay Kerrigan?” Nova asked.
“Yeah, I don’t think anything is broken though. Though it’s going to leave one hell of a mark.” Kerrigan replied.
“What did you trip on anyway?” Nova inquired.
“I have no idea, let’s find out” Kerrigan said and reached up to her helmet and turned on her IR* Flashlight.
She then began to retrace her steps, though it only took a few steps before she saw what had tripped her up.
“So that’s what caused me to fall, that’s kind of unnerving.” Kerrigan said
A frozen corpse was sprawled against the wall.
“Looks like he’s been here a while though. Nova added.
“What a horrible fate, being left to rot in an alley.” Nova thought.
Kerrigan noticed that the corpse was wearing an armband.
“Hey look at this.” Kerrigan said pointing out the armband.
“Didn’t our briefing say that the ARCC wore armbands?” Nova asked while covering the entrance to the alley.
“Yes, I believe it said they wore green armbands.” Kerrigan replied.
“Well, what color is this one then?” Nova questioned.
“I don’t know, let’s see.” Kerrigan said as she pushed up her Night Vision and then pulled out a flashlight.
Kerrigan turned on her flashlight and from amongst the snow a dark green glistened in the light.
“Well looks like we found the ARCC, at least what’s left of one of them.” Kerrigan replied.
“We should probably get moving before that patrol comes back.” Nova said.
“Let’s try to make for one of those abandoned skyscrapers so we can get the lay of the land, and hide from the patrols.” Kerrigan said.
“Okay, lead the way.” Nova replied.

Red Wing Security Forces. Acting Under Hunter National Gas INC.

Pfc. Jason Kubic. Redwing soldier assinged to Hunter National Inc

Pfc. Jason Kubic. Patrolling the new property owned by Hunter National Gas
New buildings had been constructed to replace the ones used by the vilhallen company who had owned this land before them. Along with a new dig site to start laying down the fondation for a underground bunker. Along with this Sa new private air strip that could easily land a SG-15 and support movement of miners was also being built. A small portion of the newly purchased land was given to RedWing for training purposes although he had gone through it already. I

He stood at the gaurd post leading into the main compound of the dig sight. No fence or anything had been placed around the property because of its sheer size only what was needed to be fenced was. Behind him was a pickup a small outpost and two large semis parked for the night. They were to be taken to the main building to be taken by helicopter somewhere else. They were told the trucks had been filled with rocks but they had been sat there for two weeks and the two teams protecting it had no idea what was inside of the two trailers. Although they were instructed not to open the semis and not to let anyone except licensed officials into the compound. So there he stood. Waiting for something to happen or someone to come

2 hours later

A man was slowly walking up the path. Not dressed like the soldiers or the Hunter employees walked up the street signalling something. Waving his hand

"PUT YOUR HANDS UP!" He yelled at the top of his lungs
Broken English*
"Help me sir! My village has been ransacked by the rebels please help I am bleeding!" He said as he stumbled closer to the soldier
"DAVE GET OUT HERE WE HAVE A MAN WALKING TWARDS BASE I CANT TELL IF HE IS HURT OR NOT!" he let his rifle hang form the strap and took out his flashlight. Sure enough he was bleeding form what looked like glass cuts. Jason took out his turnakit and started to help the man when they heard a engine sound. Dave had just started to step out of the small building with a bigger first aid kit. The small truck stopped and five or six men jumped form it. All holding rifles but Jason did not have enough time to relize what was happening. They were being attacked. Something in the semis was improtant enough for the rebels to be hunting it. He moved his rifle back up to shootinng stance
"HALT! STAY WHERE YOU ARE!" Shots rang off and the other man ran out clutching a pistol. A large sting filled his arm as he clutched the pistol before he got kicked by the man he was trying to help. He lay on the ground as men wearing white camo ran over him. One looked down and punched him with the butt of his rifle.

RASS Rapière, Pyrgos Docks

Seaman First Class Scott Hawkins watched through his binoculars as cargo ships were being loaded by containers lowered into place by automated cranes. They were laden with construction materials and equipment, destined for the Green Union. “Wonder what forsaken land we are going to save this time.” he mused to himself, he and the other two hundred and ninety-nine sailors were waiting intently for the mission briefing in a few hours.

But the ship was awash in rumor, and the prevailing theory was a humanitarian mission or some sort. He brought the binoculars back to his face to see what other activity was going on in the harbor. He noticed some activity on one of the piers in the distance where two submarines were tied alongside, they seemed to be replenishing. “I wonder where they are going.” He thought.

A few hours later

The ship's horn sounded as the Rapière passed by the harbor entrance, and the hum of the engines increased as they moved to take up a position at the head of the convoy. As they proceeded past the convoy Hawkins marveled at the cargo ships. “Impressive.” he thought as they passed. He thought back to the briefing from earlier, they were headed north with a shipment of humanitarian aid for the people of The Green Union.

And while there were no direct threats to the convoy, command was taking no chances and had assigned a heavier than usual escort. In the distance off to his right, he saw one of the submarines from earlier cruising along on the surface. As he was watching, it began to dive and quickly disappeared below the waves. “Good luck, wherever you are headed.” He said to himself. He thought back to the mission at hand. “It will be a few weeks before we reach Markion and when we do it will be freezing.”

September Sea, in between Oceania and September Island

Vice Admiral John Powell stood at the bridge of the ONS Blackfyre, as it approached the convoy headed north through the September Sea, from Altos and Stratis. The battlecruiser was one of the newest in the Oceanic Navy, top of the line and outfitted with all of the latest bells and whistles, including a tethered drone, which was currently hovering over the vessel, and surveying the convoy. The vessel was also carrying a high-level diplomatic delegation, which included the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. This ‘patrol’ was a mere formality; they were well aware of the convoy’s humanitarian mission, and the true intention was to tag along and make contact with GU officials. Vice Admiral Powell picked up the phone connected to the VHF radio, and began speaking.

“Greetings, RASS Rapière, this is the ONS Blackfyre on patrol of the September Sea. Could you please state your reason of passing?”

Vocab lesson for today.
RASS – Republic of Altos and Stratis Ship
XO – Executive Officer
Nord Lumière - Northern Light (Might be wrong, Google translate is like a roulette wheel, you win some and you lose some.)

Captain Brooke Christensen rubbed her eyes, she had been on duty for eleven hours and was looking forward to sleeping once she switched off with her XO who was preparing to relieve her. Suddenly the radio crackled to life. “Greetings, RASS Rapière, this is the ONS Blackfyre on patrol of the September Sea. Could you please state your reason for passing?

Christensen turned to her XO and said, “Well, that was quicker than expected”. Her XO replied, “Yeah we just got the information from command a few minutes ago”. “Well, at least they are punctual,” she replied and walked over to pick up the radio. “Hello, this is Captain Christensen, Commander of Task Force Nord Lumière, we are escorting a shipment of humanitarian aid to The Green Union port of Mont Coulon.” She replied.
