Greater Dienstad Expo Discussion Thread

Postby The Macabees » Wed Jan 10, 2018 9:00 am

The Greater Dienstad expo, or regional fair, is a large international exposition that brings together the region's nations to showcase and learn about our national achievements.

Held in different countries, these exhibitions are themed in accordance to their host's bid. Any recognized government of Greater Dienstad may make a bid, during a period bid typically held the year prior to the event. All bids go through a regional voting process that determines the host of the next Greater Dienstad expo. The nature, form, and content of a bid are left to the creativity of the bidding government, although the more well thought-out, complete, and interestingly themed the candidate is, the more likely they are to win the vote.

Greater Dienstad expositions are year-round affairs, allowing enough time for delegations and civilian visitors to visit all cultural booths at the fair. Our goal is to provide a long-standing, permanent, and active venue for nations to come together, discuss policy, and learn about each other in an open environment.

I have a response coming. Been preoccupied with the NS World Cup and want to get a post for Titan done before the end of the month.

Psst hey. I know I'm fantasy tech, but could I delicately ignore that fact with the exception of odd quirks or actions & enter this roleplay? I'll probably send in politician Ka'ir Azhsaloth who will be looking like & will be for all intents & purposes a human during this & the assassin who is not here to kill anyone D'aillisioux, whose magical abilities will be rendered null & he will be perceived as a normal human (his skittish personality, however, will persist). I know that this seems like a weird way of saying "pretend I'm MT," but I irrationally perceive saying that as different.

Absolutely.

And if you wanted to do some kind of "expanded universe" type of thing where your character indeed has magical abilities, I'd be cool with that as well.

Nae, I think I'll be fine with not slathering my fantasy tech over your lot's modern tech, just to be polite to the fact that it's noted to be MT. Plus, it's not likely that my duo would need to use magic — they have functioning legs & if there's violence... we'll bridge that cross, should it happen.

I think I might also want to send in a diplomat from the Confederacy's Foreign Affairs ministry, or actually have the ambassador to the Golden Throne attend. Is it too late?
TG me with questions if you got some, especially about GE&T or PMCs.

It isn't. Anyone can come and go. The expo will go on for about a year.

Definitely still open.

Like UWO said, players can come and go at will.

Fwiw, as it's looking, if you want to visit the booths my recommendation is to choose one and RP going straight to it, otherwise my random encounters will probably no longer involve the booths.

Cool. Thanks. I will get to work on something here.

Would you want to do a little side adventure?

I'm writing up a response for Free Kolechia and Vectors, where I get their characters together and I can take them through a "side mission" -- similar to UniversalCommons and UWO. I can pick up your character along the way, and that way it's three of you interacting in a world that I can set up and reveal as you guys move along.

UniversalCommons, response to you coming as well.

A bit of shameless self-promotion:

Some GD members, and players from other RP regions as well, have been invited to give seminars at an event hosted by the North Pacific. It's a RP event that's meant to introduce TNP RPers to the wider RP community, and to show the RP community that there are hidden RPers within the gameplay world.

You can find more details here.

Lamoni has already posted his (awesome) seminar. Mine will be published on Friday afternoon PST, Saturday morning GMT.

Monavia, The Scandinvans, Ghant, and Starblaydia -- the great sports RPer -- are participating as well. It's pretty low cost to take part and you'll meet a lot of other players.

Finally got my post in. Decided against bringing along D'aillisioux since he's getting too much screentime, but this trio will still be as quirky. Occasionally, they'll mention some stuff that doesn't make much sense to a modern person or outsider (such as Azsh'aloth asking about the age of Japanese new year games), but it can be dismissed as random ranting rather than the truth.

Not an issue; I can wait.

And Maccabees; thanks, but no. Rashore is a bureaucrat; he wouldn't deal well with action (and his masters back home would be incredibly upset if he got hurt).

I will get responses up for everyone soon.

I was a little burnt out at the end of last month, but I'm back in. :)
