Second Fleet, Near Mesairen fleet
Mesairen waters

FIS Vincent Gelderman

As the explosion erupted, everyone on the ship stood silent. Whatever just happened, nobody expected it. One ship from the fleet was ahead, and it exploded out of seemingly nowhere. It didn't matter what anyone said, no matter how much they would try signaling each other. Both fleets were now going to be at war, nothing can change that. Everyone stood, not knowing what to do.

It has felt that for a moment, time paused on the ships. Seamen who have just joined wondered what would happen. Higher ranking officers wondered when it will happen. Aboard the fleet's flagship, the admiral and officers could start a preemptive strike, just by ordering it on the radio and all ships would hear. Gunners were ready to fire, moments away from blasting the enemy fleet. They just needed an order, or one person firing by accident.

Many also hoped they could sink a ship before they got sunk. They outnumbered the enemy fleet by a large margin, but some damage could in fact be done. The 380mm and 355mm guns on the Furbish ships could wipe out any ships in the fleet, but they needed to be aimed properly, and it took a while to reload. Many smaller guns were aimed at the smaller ships. The ship guns were aimed at the fleet when it first arrived, fearing such engagements.

During the few moments, Admiral Brenner did not hesitate. He quickly moved into the room where the communications officer was, moved by the officer, and said into the radio "All ships, this is Admiral Brenner. Cu-" He was cut off by shots from the enemy ships. "FIRE AT THEM NOW! PLAN ECHO!" He shouted.

The ships continued their course, while firing at their newly gained enemy. The 380mm and 355mm guns that were aimed at the battlecruisers fired. Most were aimed at the HMS Dekko, and a few 355mm guns fired at the armored cruisers. The smaller guns fired at the three remaining frigates, and six destroyers. The ships tried getting away from the action when firing, because their goal was to take as less damage as possible.

A few ships were damaged at the first round of shots, but no shots were fatal so far. The weaker ships, including many of the destroyers and support ships, moved towards the center of the formation. The minelayers dropped a few more mines hoping to hit some other ships. Everyone knew some ships would sink, and all hoped it wasn't theirs.

To the Pact of Vienna:
We of the of the Empire of Kentuckyana remember how Lotharia sent hospital units to help in the devastating 1896 tornado season to help our our wounded. As such we stand ready send to military aid to Lotharia. At the his juncture, we will not commit ground troops, however.

Sencho Palace
Imperial Capital of Sencho

Prime Minister Zericho strolled through the pristine halls of the massive Imperial Palace in Sencho. Much of the building had recently been rebuilt after beein burned down by the retreating Victoresian Army in 1869 and again by the Nationalist Republican troops in 1891. The interior of the building had been remodeled in a beautiful blend of Victoresian and Western elements with the elaborate internal domes and arches, but also featuring distincly European style walls and columns. To the sides of the main hall stood dozens of ancient statues dating back thousands of years, though some had been recently repaired after being smashed. Zeicho quickly approached the Central Hall of the Imperial Palace which was decorated by the newly created Coat of Arms in the European style, another sign of the influence of the West on Victores. Two guards beside the enormour bronze doors of the room which, like the statues, dated back almost a millineum. Once they saw Zericho approaching they pulled apart the doors. The emperor was dressed in the traditional Victoresian Imperial dress, a enormous golden rode on top of another white silk robe with a golden mutli-layered necklace. He wore an enormous turban like crown decorated with dozens of jewels and long colourful feathers. The Prime Minister, seeminly drab in his Western suit, as a Communist, he disliked having to bow, but everyone must do it. After the Emperor summoned him up, he began to speak, "Your Holy Majesty, war shakes the earth like the spear of Yizin, China and Burma fight. The warfare of the We-ertge(foreigners) matter not to us in any normal case, however it must be known to the Lord of all the Earth that We-ertgerzh(Furbish Islands) has pledged their arms behind the Burmese, whom we must believe would face defeat. Having sided against the people of Yizina Seleste(Victores) again, the people of We-ertgerzh face certain defeat, and with thus we must regain land. To be known, you Master of the land from the Mountains to the Sea that the foul demons of We-ertgerzh may strike us and seize our lands again shall we not defend ourselves. It is of paramount importance that we oppose the Furbish on a strategic level, face them, indeed, in the land of Burma"

"I see this issue clearly, we must immdeiately pledge troops to oppose the devils then. Much of our army must be able to be sent to combat this threat. Should the We-ertge gain our trust, they may be allowed to send their own armies to help ours in retaking the land stolen by the Furbish foes. Let it be known that I decree that we must absolutely force war towards the Furbish in every regards, by both arms on land and at sea"

7th Battlecruiser Squadron
Mesairien Waters

As the Parzen and Shark steamed towards the sinking wreckage of the Wanderlust it became quickly apparent that there were no survivors, the secondary blast had either killed or trapped everyone on board. With shells beginning to whistle all around as the enemy fleet took hits and began firing back at the 7th there would be no time to mount a proper rescue, those men that were still alive were simply doomed. The two Frigates pulled off from their course and carried on full speed back towards the 7th, trying to zig-zag and evade incoming fire whilst returning fire with their small aft cannons.

Splashes in the ocean began to form all around the fleet, the enemy shots only narrowly missing the vessels, it was quite clear they had been preparing to open fire for quite some time. The Shark got hit mid-ship by a small round, the explosion rocked the vessel and killed a number of men on impact, but it didn't damage the vessels ability to run or shoot back, Parzen was luckier and every shot at her flew overhead.
The two Armoured cruisers took minor hits as well but nothing majorly damaging.

As for the Battlecruisers, the Akemi took no hits, but the Dekko was the primary target of most of the larger cannons. Whilst most hits narrowly missed her, several shots smashed into her side and deck, the damage was minimal but her deck began to catch fire and quickly a blaze took hold across the rear of the vessel, her crew rushing immediately to action to try and put it out before it began to pose a serious threat. Even worse, one of the final hits slammed into the Dekko's lookout tower and brought it crashing down in a violent explosion, debris slammed down into the bridge and the deck below. Luckily the main shaft fell over into the ocean however, this shot crippled her ability to not only sight the enemy but communicate through the wireless.

Despite these hits however, the Dekko, Akemi and the Armoured Cruisers continued laying down fire towards the Furbish Dreadnoughts, preforming a similar evasive manoeuvre to the Parzen to avoid more incoming fire - determined to stand their ground and allow the Frigates time to get back. Meanwhile the destroyers and remaining Scout Frigate unleashed their torpedoes and fired a few volleys from their cannons toward the lighter Furbish vessels before coming about to run as ordered prior to the battle beginning.
Two destroyers, however, the HMS Jade and HMS Sapphire, broke from her orders and charged past the Battlecruiser line towards the enemy - noticing the fire that Shark and Parzen were under, her captain had deduced that those vessel may very well be destroyed before making it back. Somebody had to get out there to quickly grab as many of their crews as possible before fleeing.

HMS Queen Akemi

"Alert the Admiralty, the Furbish fleet has attacked us!" Vice-Admiral Teno screamed down the speaker tube to the wireless room, the operator quickly began tapping out his message.

She was determined that no matter the outcome of this fight, Mesairien command know what has happened so they can react accordingly. The Furbish had to pay for their treachery. Just then, a crewman noted the destroyers pushing through the line. Jade had the sense to send a quick message via spotlight alerting the Vice-Admiral to their motives, she was inexplicably angry but could do nothing to stop them. If those ships wanted to die then so be it, all that could be done was try and make the Furbish pay dearly for every ship they destroy.

The Akemi's dual-barrel cannons had opened back up with their second salvo soon after the Furbish ships had returned fire and were nearly ready to produce their third. Everyone knew of course that this fight could not be sustained and the moment the Frigates and now those damned destroyers had either been sunk or fled to safety, the capital ships would need the help of every God that existed to make their retreat.

Second Fleet, Near Mesairen fleet
Mesairen waters

FIS Julian van Spijk

The FIS Julian van Spijk is another super-dreadnought, and the flagship of the First Battleship Squadron. It was built very recently, during the arms race before the war began. The guns it had were very modern, and could do significant damage to enemy ships, if not sink them entirely. The ship, like all others, had its back facing the fleet. Only the back cannons could be used, but the enemy ships were hopelessly outnumbered. It would take several miracles to be remotely close to a partial victory.

The ship was unscathed during the volleys, and the crew hoped the luck would stay. The ship and all ships nearby continued firing, hoping to sink as many ships as possible before both sides exist each others' guns' ranges. The Vice Admiral in charge of the Squadron watched the battle from the top deck, and was watching the battle carefully. The ship's Captain stood at the bridge, moving the ship on the intended course.

Soon, a volley of torpedoes hit the ships. Most missed their targets, but a few hit. Small ships were targeted. A few hit a nearby destroyer and the destroyer began to sink. The Vice Admiral did not notice it at first, until the Captain ordered the ship to rescue the survivors of the sinking ship. More shells were fired at the ships. Some destroyers also fired torpedoes at the ships. The two original frigates and the destroyers next to them were targeted by the smaller guns, and so were the other destroyers. The larger guns were aimed at the MS Dekko, and they all planned to shoot one of the cruisers after the battlecruiser sunk, expecting most guns to aim at the other battlecruiser. While both sides went back and forth with shells and torpedoes, the enemy fleet had another surprise awaiting them.

FIS Vincent Gelderman

Admiral Brenner told the Admiralty about the current situation. He started with the first scout plane, and then the second plane, how it was shot at, an enemy ship exploding after hitting a mine accidentally placed by a minelayer, and the battle that was now occurring. When he explained everything, he talked about the Mesairen ships as if they were the aggressors, firing at Furbish ships for unjustifiable reasons. But the enemy fleet had their reasons to call the Furbish the aggressors, since to them, a Furbish plane flew too close to their ships, and a mine was dropped in retaliation for the shots, and they shot because of it. In reality, however, it was no one's fault, just a major misunderstanding.

The message was sent by radio all the way to the Admiralty's headquarters. Hearing the message, they began a plan that was planned out not too long ago. The Third Fleet was small, and couldn't survive on an offensive operation. It and the First Fleet would defend against attacks, until more ships were built, then an attack would be launched. Port cities like Zareski, Kanton, Matuata, and Difinter would now have an economic boost, making up for the revenue they will lost due to less shipping.

FIS Great White

The FIS Great White is not a very large ship, and it is only armed with some torpedo tubes. The ship is very new, and has some technology that other ships don't have. No other ships besides ones of its type have it. Not even the dreadnoughts, which were built after it has been launched. But the technology can be quite powerful if used correctly. The FIS Great White is a submarine, and can submerge itself underwater.

Plenty of submarines have been built in the recent arms race. Commander Trenton Garnet is in charge of the submarine. He has been placed with the task of swimming to the enemy ships, fire torpedoes, and disappear. The plan was risky, since they couldn't get rescued if shot down by the enemy ships, but it could wipe out most if not all of the ships.

The submarines mostly targeted the four retreating destroyers and scout frigate, but some targeted the destroyers near the HMS Parzen and HMS Shark. The FIS Great White targeted the retreating scout frigate. The submarines all aimed at their targets, and opened fire. The Captain of the FIS Great White hoped the ships did not have anti-submarine defenses.

The Battle of Verona, 16th of August 1914

Image

The front appeared to be quite quiet. Limburgs forces had endured shelling and rifle fire along their trenches, but because of their cover and dug-in positions, they'd suffered very few casualties. The Limburgs high command in Trentino felt unsure of their decision. They felt alarmed by the armaments on their Alpine front, and although the heavy artillery was relatively ineffective in the Alps, most of the junior officers were concerned about their troops. The group had lost 2 of their fighter planes after sending them to scouting missions. The officers were sure of one thing: Skirmishes between the two trenches were dangerous, and if the officers wouldn't put a stop to them somehow, they'd lose many of their troops without actually gaining land. The senior officers in Trentino saw one possibility to end this damned stalemate: A mass charge against Italian forces, concentrating their regiments into the Italian city of Verona.

Alpine trench north of Verona, 16:45

Limburgs artillery shells pounded the ground. The light artillery proved to be more effective in the Alpine mountains than their italian counterparts. Their rate of fire and mobility made them very valuable to the Limburgs side. In the trenches, however, the soldiers had prepared grenades and ammunition, and cleaned their rifles about an hour earlier. Most of the soldiers also visited a catholic holy mass hosted by army chaplains. As the light Limburgs artillery was shelling the Italian trenches/No man's land, Limburgs troops prepared for their advance. As officers blew their famous whistles, the soldiers left their trenches behind them and began rushing against the Mediterranean Union troops. The shelling quickly stopped, and as the Italian troops returned fire, a portion of the troops scattered and hid in the various holes in no man's land. Due to the "Saps", the small listening posts along the trenches, however, the Limburgers were able to pierce certain points of the Italian trenches, that they had considered weaker than others. The speculations eventually worked, and the Limburgers got a foothold in the trenches. They would try to clear most of them, disabling some of the artillery and AA pits. They'd try to push up into Verona, which lied at the foot of the mountain trenches.

The Dekko and Akemi continued blasting their cannons, now with their third salvo, as more enemy shells came crashing down. The evasive manoeuvres of the two ships helped them dodge most of the enemy shells, protecting them significantly. However, a shot from the FIS Julian Van Spijk managed to get lucky and crashed into the Dekko's fore-most cannon, knocking it completely out of action and - if the screams were to be believed - slaughtered the gunnery crew inside. Unfortunately by now there wasn't alot the Dekko could do for the gunners as the fire had become worse and continued to spread along the aft of the vessel, a large portion of the crew was involved in fire fighting.

Without its wireless mast, the Dekko couldn't receive its orders from Vice-Admiral Teno, who had frantically tried to order the Dekko to disengage and unfortunately, thanks to the fire at the Dekko's aft, she couldn't see the Akemi's spotlights either. Effectively, this ship was going to be in this fight until the death unless its Captain decided to break ranks and run on their own.

HMS Parzen

As for the Frigates, the small vessel shots continued to rain down around the pair, the Shark already damaged took another hit on its fore but continued to stay afloat and sail along. The Parzen's streak of luck however continued as all shots skipped past the old ship. Captain Shinto let out a sigh of relief every time she heard a shell whistle past and crash into the oceans beside, perhaps she and her crew would make it out alive today afterall.

Unfortunately for the Furbish Submarines, all Mesairien Destroyers and these two Frigates had been equipped with the brand new depth charge technology, during the naval arms race between Mesairien and the Furbish Islands Royal Intelligence had found credible information on the Furbs development of Submarine technology and the Mesairien Admiralty recognised the threat submarines could pose, an undetected threat sailing beneath the waves and opening fire indiscriminately. So they spent years and a large amount of resources to create 'drop mines' which would explode upon impact - through further development these drop mines later gained the additional capability of exploding upon reaching a specific depth, thus transforming into depth charges. Only a few Destroyers and Frigates had been equipped with them by this point however, so the capital ships were relatively undefended when it came to Anti-Submarine warfare.

The crew in the lower decks of the Parzen heard the distinct whistle of a torpedo being fired past their hull and then the faint hum of engines of a vessel in the water - it became quite clear that there was a submarine very close to the ship. A crewman from below rushed up to the bridge to alert Captain Shinto.
Following these noises, the HMS Sapphire exploded on her right side as a torpedo smashed into her, the stout destroyer refused to sink however and continued on its course - now unable to change, as that torpedo had blown apart her rudder control system.

Shinto rushed into action, with her crewman's warnings she ordered her crew to drop the Parzen's depth charges and to rush to the side of the Sapphire. Without a moments hesitation this was done, the two barrel like weapons were rolled to the launchers at the side of the ship and dropped into the Ocean.

"Alert the Jade; enemy using Submarines." She ordered a man to spotlight ahead - it was becoming quite clear to every Captain involved in this firefight that the lack of radio communications was causing a serious hindrance to the fleet's ability to communicate, this would need to be rectified if they were going to continue to fight the Furbish.

As the Parzen sent its spotlight over and sailed away from where it had dropped its charges there was... a silence, the charges should have gone off by now surely? Then a muffled explosion and a splash of ocean made the crew cheer. Unfortunately though, only one of the charges had gone off, the other had failed to detonate somehow.

The Battle of Verona

16th/17th of August 1914, Ferazze Heights, 18:45.
Image
Members of the Limburgse Jagers regiment close in on enemy fortifications near the Ferazze heights, east of Verona.

"Sanitäter!" Junior officer Johann Bekker was hiding in his makeshift foxhole, when he heard the horrid screams of men dying around him. As men of both Lotharian and Limburgs nationality shouted their lungs out, crying out to their mothers, the young Lieutenant would simply sit down in his foxhole, trying to neglect the screaming men. His battalion was ordered to move to the mountains and take down the Italians that had possibly have gathered there, trying to repulse any attacks. Their problem, however: The Limburgs/Lotharian intelligence group had failed to spot that there was a large proportion of Mediterranean troops in Ferazze, and that attacking it head-on with unexperienced volunteers was a mistake. As high command heard about the disastrous results of the attack, they ordered the mountaineer troops, the elite "Limburgse Jagers-Gulpe" battalion, to move in from other sides and try to cut off the troops from their supply. After a harsh night of foxhole combat, explosions and loads of casualties, the troops managed to take down the Italian strongpoints in the Ferazze heights. As the troops were burying their five hundred dead, a private stared upon the dead body of an officer. Judging by the insignia and bright-blue patches, the man was a captain. Not only was he a Captain, he was also a nobleman: Junker Rupprecht von Fürstenberg, the heir to the Limburgian duchy laid dead in an Italian mountain ditch.

Image
Doltanian aircraft flies over Limburgs positions along the city of Verona, 12:45, 17th of August 1914

The Aeroplanes strafe Italian wagons and vehicles with their machine guns, and several of the scouts also drop light bombs on trench fortifications. Artillery has been pounding the historic city for a few days, and it has destroyed certain buildings housing civilians. Many civilians have fled the city, and the refugees are now trying to get new homes down south. The "Selvaggi Germanici", "Germanic savages", as the Northern-Italians describe the Limburgs/Doltanian troops, are moving in to quickly bombard/strife the city, so that the destroyed houses could be used as debris/cover against the Italian soldiers resisting a Limburgs march into the small town. At 21:15, the fire shortly ends, and the city is going up in flames. There's people shouting, and most of the historic city centre has suffered horribly. As the Italians guarding the small town tire from the fire, explosions and shouting, they can hear a whole other noise: Trench whistles. All across the Limburgs-Lotharian trenchlines, men rise up, armed with their simple "Wittem" rifles and a fierce bayonet attached to the carbine. As they move up the alleyways and streets of the town, they're covered by stray biplane fire, effectively surpressing major Italian strongpoints. As the city was burning down, and the Coalition's power was estimated to be greater than that of the Mediterannean Union, the Limburgs troops found themselves to be victorous, and quickly took the city. In that dark night, with Veronians looking back at the city that they were born in, the city that was in flames and the houses that were blown up, Italian troops dying because of the air attacks, and Limburgs patriots planting the Limburgs flag, the mighty white blue and gold featuring the red lion of Limburg, atop of the city hall, the few civilians left, understood that it was no longer a city of theirs.

Image
Limburgs troops in front of the Verona city hall

Cheers erupt as the combine aeroplane force of Limburgs/Doltanian conquer the Italian skies. Soldiers embracing eachother and singing the Limburgs national anthem. Officers issue wines and brandies from their personal cellars, and distribute them to their troops. Old flags are being waven around, and even the air force pilots are glad. They have seen the highest of casualties thus far, with half of the pilots serving in the air wing having lost their lives. At last, every military man in Northern Italy can rejoice. The privilege of fine wine and strong brandy isn't only preserved for the Limburgs troops, however. Scandinavian men serving in Trent and Verona also get their fair share of victory, and the troops fraternise during these harsh times. With a beautiful Italian city lying at the hands of the Limburgs infantryman and the Germanic-Scandinavian pilots, there is a lot of fun to be made. "Back home by christmas" turns into a popular verse because of the rapid warfare happening in Italy.

The Limburgs government advises neutral countries and Lotharian allies to serve in foreign fields. It'll give them military experiences, prepare them for the aggressive expansions of nations such as Bhartiya or the Mediterranean Union, and it will help righteous nations such as the Lotharian Empire in their struggles against terrorists, such as the Bharitayian-funded terrorists that assassinated the crown prince of China.

Hope this is not considered powergaming, am very new to roleplays. If so, please tell me !

Tear, Karthspiri Joint Command
The Emperor entered the room awaiting a brief on the current situation from his Generals, "First of all, have we had any word from Lotharia? I imagine our movement of troops onto our shared border has not gone unnoticed."
A young aide quickly replies, "Yes, my Liege, they wish to discuss a potential Karthspiri entry into the war on the side of the Vienna Pact."
The Emperor smiled, "It seems as though our nation still has some international relevance. See to it that we discuss this with them. I'm still warmer with the coalition than I am with the Vienna Pact however, I wish to see what they have to offer us in terms of an alliance."
The aide rushes off, "Yes Emperor."

From: Karthspiri Joint Command by request of the Divine Emperor Atheil VII Maravirr
To: Lotharia
RE: "Alliance perhaps?"
Priority level: 0
Reading: The Emperor has expressed a mild interest in a potential alignment of our Empire with the interests of the Vienna Pact. Please arrange proceedings so exploratory negotiations are able to begin. Please note that this is not an acceptance of your invitation merely our Liege expressing curiosity.

The Emperor turned to General Trisleth, "Away from diplomacy, what is occurring in terms of war?"
The General's face turned grim, "Things have worsened," he cleared his throat before continuing, "My Liege the Mesairans and Furbish seem to be taking potshots at one another in the seas near Japan. They both seem to be itching to claw at one another even though there's a lack of necessity to do so. As for the smaller nations, Limburg, as in the former Dutch province, has decided to get involved in a war which, respectfully, I don't believe they understand the gravity of. From what I hear the oddest state ever called the Imperial Socialist state of Victores, I don't understand their ideology either, has decided to take a stance against Furby Island."

The Emperor replied as he began to exit the room, "Keep me informed of any updates, General"

Imperial Palace, Nosamo, Guadalupadorian Empire

The Imperial Court met with the Empress' approval and discussed the only telegram they got back from the warring nations, a plea of assistance from the Republic of Radimostan. A disgusting and offensive form of governance indeed, however at least the Radimostanian Republic had the common courtesy to respond to the Empress' personal communique unlike the other degenerate "states." The Imperial Court debated the merits of coming to assist Radimostan, and perhaps the entire Coalition against the Vienna Pact. The Empress intervened in the discussion and the room fell to silence as Her Serene Majesty, A Goddess on Earth simply said to show support Radimostan for the time being. She emphasized the final caveat, reminding her Court that the Empire will carve out its own world order following the end of the war, whether either current side in the conflict liked it or not. The Imperial Court then got to work directing the Imperial Diplomatic Corps to pen a response to Radimostan's message:
To: President Marek Nosek of the Republic of Radimostan
From: The Guadalupadorian Imperial Court of Her Serene Highness, llenya Kharya Pariu Yama Rabkanadasha Illegdano Umendo II
Security: MOST SECRET

It is most unfortunate that the supposed "Great Powers" of the world cannot simply speak to one another and would rather wage a destructive conflict for no real reason. However, in the eyes of Her Serene Majesty, as well as the Gods, it seems that the Republic of Radimostan is being besieged by the power-hungry and barbaric peoples of Lotharia all on the simple fact that your people resist the subjugation of Burma. It has been decreed by Her Serene Majesty that the Republic of Radimostan will undoubtedly receive support from the Serene and Holy Empire of the Guadalupadorians.

Igildente Plains, Guadalupadorian Imperial Administration Zone: Dahlslande

"We got the bastards exactly where we want 'em... Course of action, Captain?"

"Take Kitunde and his group around the compound and we'll cover you on your way in with our rifles from here in the bush. With these dullards all at their church's Easter service, the security is lacking." Captain Kiserteva of the Colonial Division of the Imperial Special Police Service whispered as he gazed through his field glasses through the thick bush at the makeshift walls of the compound of unruly Dahlslander farmers. The last compound to exist following the Dahlsande Bush War. Today the decade-long conflict would end as Guadalupadorian imperial rule would be finally solidified within Dahlslande. Already, the Imperial Special Police Service was hard at work burning the farms surrounding the compound, and as soon as the smoke reached the sky that'd be the signal to attack.
As soon as the smoke rose into the air, Kiserteva observed his Sergeant and his troops burst out from the bush toward the compound. Kiserteva ordered his marksmen within the bush to open fire on the few sentries near the gate. The main force burst through the gates firing their guns at anything that moved. Captain Kiserteva ordered the remainder of his group out of the bush and into the compound to surround the church. As soon as he arrived the firing had stopped and the remainder of the Dahlslanders were cooped up in the church. The Captain simply ordered his troops to fire into the church. The screams of men, women, and children contrasted with the rapport of the ensuing barrage of rifles. After the initial volley of bullets Kiserteva announced to whoever had survived within the church that they were condemned to death for defying the Empress and the Will of the Gods. "Take your men into the church and shoot whoever's left. We're done here." The Captain said to his Sergeant as he turned away from the spectacle, a veteran of these types of operations he'd seen too many beforehand.

As soon as his force got back to camp, Kiserteva was handed a telegram from command in Nosamo detailing a need for his and his troop's set of skills elsewhere than in the Colonies. The Captain only sighed in reaction to reading about his new set of orders. For sure Kiserteva would miss the rolling plains of Dahlslande so much so that he had feelings to decline the request but came to his senses once more. The Empress needed him elsewhere, and he understood very well what defying Her Serene Majesty looked like, he took part in it.

The Mid-Atlantic Ocean, En Route to Radimostan Theater of Operations

The twin Guadalupadorian merchant ships, Religant and Bamo were coordinated on relatively short notice by the Imperial government and filled with food, supplies and medicine. It was the first mercy mission commissioned by the Guadalupadorian Empire in quite some time as the two ships steamed straight for a besieged and blockaded Radimostan. The Religant and Bamo didn't make up the entirety of the small group however, as one battlecruiser, HSMS Sovereign followed behind the two ships at a distance to provide any relative protection for the low-profile movement on the high seas. The entire voyage would take at least a week and a half before they reached Radimostan. The Guadalupadorian government wouldn't expect the Lotharians to decline a simple mercy mission to Radimostan's civilians.

As the mercy mission steamed along two submersible boats followed along at a farther distance shadowing their comrades. This was no mercy mission to Radimostan for them as soon as the two diesel-powered submarines reached the designated point on their map they broke off from the group to continue further north past Radimostan. The Imperial Navy outfitted the two submarines with special diving equipment so that their sailors could conduct operations on the ocean floor. The submarines reached their objective earlier than expected and began their covert operation to dive down to the deep ocean floor and cut Lotharia's transatlantic telegraph cables rendering any and all un-intercepted communications with the other side of the Atlantic at an end. The first of the cables were cut, and the Guadalupadorians hunted for their next target Kentuckyana's transatlantic cables farther to the west. The Vienna Pact's communications were about to get hindered, perhaps even cut off entirely within the Atlantic as a result of the secret mission.

Atlanta, Georgia- The Confederate States of Alaroma

In the humble city of Atlanta, the capital of the Confederation, the eruption of warfare was taken at a less than optimistic tone. While the men of Atlanta did not want to contributed the men of the Confederation(Yet) to some “Foreign war” the prospects of the Confederation, and the American Treaty Organization staying out seemed increasingly interested. How you might ask? Well, to make money of course. However the reactions to the war was differnt depending on who you asked, and many people seemed to have ties to both sides. However due to history among other things, many Alaromans, and Americans, favored the Imperials. Especially the sizable Lotharian-Alaroman population in the CSA, and the ATO. There were others however painting the Imperial Alliance as aggressors, saying a dignified Democracy should not be supporting the blatant aggression being shown. A internal debate among Alaromans of sorts began, especially considering the agents from outside trying to sway the public one way or another. However the implications, and safety of Democracy in the world, was also taken into account. As such, the Confederation and her allies treaded carefully.

In the Grey House, the President and his cabinet looked at the situation with speculation, before the Secretary of War said “We should just declare neutrality for now. Analyze the situation, everything has just started after all……….” He said before taking a puff from his fat cigar. The Treasurer cracked his knuckles, with one satisfying pop after pop before saying “It would be nice for us to try making a profit from trading with both sides. At least till one side convinces us one way or another. Or economic necessity propels us. Or simple public opinion.”

The SoW nodded before saying “With that, we need to see just what kind of war this going to be. Not to mention when have we ever sent soldiers overseas to fight in a war outside the Alaromas?” The room stood silent. Now there had been instances where there had been “peacekeeping” and hunting down pirates, but those were different in respective to large scale operations requiring thousands, if not millions of young Alaromans to fight in a war that has no immediate importance to the Alaroman people, or Government. Then there was the fact the CSA had no obligations to any of those nations in regards to warfare(Though it did have ties, some closer than others). With the silence in the room his answer, the SoD continued “That’s right gentlemen, never in our history. This war gives me a bad vibe in my view. I’m a studier of history Gentlemen, and never have I ever seen something like this. On this scale, this magnitude. I can’t be certain, but Mister President-” His, along with everyone's elses darted to the president. The man had his poker face on, smoking a cigarette of his own. The man’s face stared down the SoD, tasting his words if you will. “entering this war would be a mistake of epic proportions!”

President Jefferson sat there for a moment, then said “Well damn Secretary Lee.” Some chuckles could be heard at the President’s blatantness. “I happen to agree on this, we have no open reason to join this war. However we need to keep our eyes open, and prepare for action. However we need to keep an eye on this conflict. As we study this conflict, we should apply what we learned in what we observe to our own doctrine. However as large as this war is looking to be, let’s hope the warring nations can come to their senses.” The men in the room nodded, looking at each other seeing the general consensus that Neutrality was the way to go for now. However everyone knew that this war would be all consuming, and the President’s last statement “And God willing this war end soon.”

With all that said, conversation began to turn to how the CSA could profit from this war, and that went from selling equipment to loans. Also to participate as an onlooker to the conflict. In the sense that from a third Perspective, the CSA would be active. As the day wore on, the sun grew brighter as it drew closer to noon. It was indeed an interesting debate among the Cabinet members to persuade the President, however the next step came in announcing the decision to the world.

Before Congress- Atlanta Georgia

The President stood before the chambers of Congress, looking before the men of Atlanta as the looked at the President's decision on the war. What the Confederation would do in response to the outbreak of bloodshed. "In the days to come, we will see the beginning of a new war in Asia, and in Europe. However I say this, God willing, keep this abominable war out of the Alaromas!" The statement was meet with much applause as the fears of war had been quelled, for now at least. "As the waves of conflict have washed over the Asian and European continent, how is this different from their squabbles in the past? Like the past, we maintain to watching our own coast lines. To maintain the such precious peace in the New World. As Such we will con-"

-Written by James Walker
As war errupts on the international scene, the CSA and her American allies take a moment to look back it all, While the Confederation is obviously one of the most powerful nations in the World, however what does that mean for it's point of view on the new war. One that seems to be spanning all over the world into one Great War. Well, the leaders in Atlanta argue that this is just like any other foreign war. Why would this be any different? To Mister Jefferson's Point, it is counter intuitive to worry so much over a war that has nothing to do with the Confederation. Now, reactions have varried. Lotharian-Americans, whether immigrants or descendants cheer on for Lotharia. Others of the more idealistic sort cheer for the Democracies doing battle against them, and saying China was to quick to act in handing out judgment against it's neighbor.

All this taken into account, the war is seeming to be messy as countries were being called in left in right. By treaty, or disrespect. While the CSA and her ATO allies proudly proclaim neutrality, the question remains can said neutrality be maintained. No, will that neutrality be respected. Now a days that is not an assurance, that is just a hope. We've seen neutrality be trampled upon like nothing in the past, so what does this mean for the CSA. The longer this war goes on, the more desperate the Combatants will get. Therefore, the question "Can we stay out of it?" stands. Thus the Confederation will promt it's right to trade, negotiate, and talk with the warring nations as an outside source.
"Yeah, you're right. You got lucky this time. If there were Dutch people there, you would be facing so many rebels!"

A STATEMENT FROM ANDSED ABOUT THE WAR

As many know a massive war has erupted between the members of the Vienna Pact: -
Shin Dynasty of China
-Yumasa Shogunate
-Lotharian Imperium
-Mesairien
-Victores
-Basran

And a Coalition force that is opposing them.:
-Furby Island
-Bharat
-Burmese Kingdom
-Radimostan
-Strala
-Kanto

Most of you also know that the Andsedian government has not addressed this yet but Grant Shalka has finally released a statement about this saying:

Hello as many know a massive war has erupted. We would like to address it now and explain our position on it. Andsed will be staying neutral for the simple reason of this war is pointless and just getting innocents killed and Andsed does not want to be a part of that.

This is also why were are condemning both sides in this conflict. We will also begin to try and place embargoes and such on the countries fighting the war.

But do not mistake this for weakness from us. No we will keep growing are military and if any country dares to attack us we will respond harshly.

Well then that is the Andsedian government stance on this interesting. They have also begun setting up defenses like AA guns, tanks, etc across the country just in case according to reports.
I do be tired

Atlanta, Georgia- The Senate

Image

The enclosed chambers of the Senate were illuminated not by the natural lights of the outside world, but by the man-made lights of the Industrial age. The men of Congress, and of the Senate filled in for a historic vote in regards to the C.S Navy. The President had been campaigning for a stronger Navy throughout the nation, however there was a delima, That required money, and as it stands, the CSA wasn't always so fond of spending it. However as the "Great War" as it was being called continued to unravel it grew increasingly important for the Government to have a "Well maintained Armed Forces for any and all Cases." In this case, the Navy was now on the gates of the "Naval Act of 1914", the largest build up of the Naval forces of the Confederate States of America in it's history. At the moment, the Confederation's Navy had been continuously growing ever since the late 1880's. Now it found itself with one of the most powerful Navies in the world, and the most so in the Western Hemisphere.

The NAVAL ACT of 1914- The CONFEDERATE STATES of ALAROMA SENATE

Image

The Confederate States of Alaroma Senate: $500 Million Confederate Dollars will be contributed to the Expansion of the Confederate States of Alaroma Navy. Under this Acquirement of Arms, the following will be done in a three year period. The Following purchases Shall be made:
-15 Battleships
-7 Battlecruisers
-50 Submarines
-80 Destroyers
-Other Supporting Craft are also to be ordered under the Jurisdiction of the Naval Department of the Confederate States of America.

After the Senate voted on the bill, the count came up to 71-4 in favor of passing the act. With the act signed into law, the Senate went onto other matters regarding the nation. In that sense, the Navy was about to get a big upgrade in the size department. With that, various C.S and ATO contractors were assigned with helping with the orders for the Navy.

The Navies of the Confederate States and American Treaty Organization

Image

-The Confederate States of Alaroma Naval Strength
14 Dreadnaughts
32 Pre-Dreadnaughts
4 Battlecruisers
12 Armored Cruisers
22 Protected Cruisers
30 Submarines
10 Unprotected Cruisers
28 Light Cruisers
50 Destroyers
32 Torpedo Boats
12 Gunboats
3 Corvettes
14 Tankers
10 Avisos
Total Naval Strength: 273 Ships under the C.S. Banner

The C.S.A.'s Naval forces are supplied with equipment and resources it needs at times by ATO members, and is the predominant Navy of the ATO. Most of the ATO Navies are small, and primarily rely on the CSA for Protection. However despite their small size, ATO members are highly industrialized making their contributions appreciated, and their ability to field Navies while small, could be bigger. However most naval efforts go to supporting the C.S.A Naval forces due to power balance among other things, and it's far cheaper to just rely on the C.S.A for Naval protection for the most part.

-The American Treaty Organization's Naval Forces(Excluding the Bulwark of the C.S Navy)
5 Dreadnoughts
10 Pre-Dreadnaughts
0 Battlecruisers
8 Armored Cruisers
10 Protected Cruisers
12 Submarines
2 Unprotected Cruisers
13 Light Cruisers
25 Destroyers
50 Torpedo Boats
30 Gunboats
28 Corvettes
3 Tankers
4 Avisos
Total Naval Strength of the Combined Navies of the ATO(Excluding the C.S.A.): 200

The ATO Navies, or "Allied Navies" as they're traditionally called by Americans. They're strong(ish) when they come together, and down right frighting when the CSA is in the mix. The Allied Navies aren't the newest Naval Forces, however they serve their purpose and leave most the traditional tasks of sea faring Nations to their comrades in the C.S.A. Albeit there are exceptions, and some of the Navies are "Impressive" for ATO standards who basically have the CSA take most the load. However there are some standard Bearer navies, such as the Republic of New York's Navy, or the Kingdom of Hawaii's Naval forces.
(I wanted to write more, but I'm low on time)
