Winds of Change ~ The battle for Saint Gall
This is the island of St Gall, as it was named by the Frankenlischian explorer Sir Thomas Middlestone in 1619. It is home to Saint Gall Colony, established in 1630 by Governor Edward Radcliffe and now governed by His Imperial Majesty, the King. The colony is home to fifty thousand inhabitants, no mean feat for such an area. It is cold, windy and wet. And it just so happens to be sharing the island with the dictatorial state of Urat.
Urat was formed in 1800 from a group of pirates, natives and deserters from the fledgeling Saint Gall Colony, they call the island Uratica and on their maps, Saint Gall Colony is no more than a tiny red pimple.
As you can see, the red of Saint Gall Colony is not the diminutive blemish that Urat would have you think, the two border each other closely with a DMZ of only 200 metres and tensions have been high ever since 2012. The death of King Edward III, trusted friend of the Uratic President. King James rose to the heights of monarchy while Urat tore itself apart looking for a successor and eventually one rose to take the reigns. Katherine Thorne, the country's first female leader and without doubt the most aggressive. The Uratic Military has doubled in size over five years and, like the volcano in the centre of the island, lays dormant and ready to erupt. Unfortunately, while Mount Horatio may take a millennium to burst, President Thorne is not so patient, her term is almost up and with her record there is only one way for her to ensure the loyalty of her people and a chance at reelection. She must ascend to the heights of military glory, she must conquer the conquerors. Saint Gall Colony is set in her sights...
