Mohammad Ghazali - sixteen-years-old - huddled in the dirt trenches as Japanese shells landed around him. "Those f*cking bombs are killing us!" one of the communist officers shouted while walking through the trenches. A boy - seventeen-years-old - tried to run into one of the buildings, a shell stopped that, blowing him to pieces, some of his skin landing on Ghazali. "Get out of the f*cking streets and into the buildings!" his officer shouted as Ghazali got his BH-183 and tried to run the short race to the open buildings. A shell hit the area to the left of him, causing him to fall to the right. His face was mangled. As he slowly tried to reach and touch his face with his shaking hands, a body fell on him. It crushed him and pushed him deeper into the ground. As he barely mustered the strength to push the dead body over to the right. Once he had done it, he let out a sigh of relief but shrieked when he saw it was his officer that was dead.
Ghazali slowly got onto his knees as he saw the decimation in the trenches: Dead everywhere. The bombings had come to a pause now. As he got up, an officer emerged from the building and went into the trenches. "Get in while there's a pause. We're laying a trap for the Japanese."
"What trap?" Ghazali said.
"We'll get the Japanese to think the remaining of us retreated. Now get into the building."
"Yessir."
After a while, the QPRA organised the troops into trucks and carefully moved through the boobie-trapped streets without losing men. After they left, they returned at night and set up an ambush. It would be impossible for the Japanese or the Allaneans to know. RPGs and other rockets were prepared. C4, mines, grenades, and other explosives were brought. Civilians in hidden heavy garbage trucks waited to block the roads when the Japanese convoy entered the city. The QPRA planned it to be a slaughter.

"Shit! get down." the officer whispered to Ghazali as he pushed both of them to the floor of the basement. The small rectangular windows which would be on the level of the roads outside were being watched by the Japanese Royal Guards troops as well as those inside of the transport vehicles and Armoured Personnel Carriers. The IJRG soldiers would notice how the streets had many trenches in them with were filled with dead QPRA bodies as well as civilian bodies. One of the bodies in the middle of the road was that of a ruffly two-year-old boy, killed by an Allanean bomb dropped. These bombs came without warning during the time the QPRA was preparing for the attack. But, the QPRA commanders probably expected this bombing, hence why so many civilians were brought out and the time for getting the civilians out of Derna was slow in order to cause maximum civilian casualties, but that was simply speculation, which was like a rampant pest during times of uncertainty or war. The Japanese soldiers shot most of the dead bodies with heavy machine gun fire in order to destroy any IEDs. It worked: Dozens of bombs were destroyed that day. "Shit," the officer said to himself as Ghazali finally decided to look on.
When Ghazali looked on, the rest of the ten troops in the building were also crouching by the wall, out of the vision of the IJRG forces. The IJRG infantry was extremely easy to see considering the colouring scheme of their uniforms. Through the proportion of how many men in a uniform were present, the QPRA soldiers were able to determine who they needed to kill. As the IJRG troops passed by, the QPRA soldiers got into position. Snipers, machine gunners, and other soldiers were all setting their sites. The snipers targeted the more important soldiers and officers, specifically those in white-and-blue trim uniforms, gold-and-purple trim uniforms, and the commander in crimson uniform with a purple trim.
"Damn, those vehicles are easy as hell to target," said one of the soldiers with an RPG as he quietly aimed his RPG at the rear of an APC passing by.
Meanwhile, when all of the Japanese soldiers were in the town, garbage trucks - driven by civilians - were put in place. Inside these trucks were concrete, making them extremely hard for the garbage trucks to be moved. This made the trucks slow, so civilians were tasked with running outside and surrendering in order to stall. When the trucks were in place, the streets the IJRG convoy were on erupted in fire as the QRPA forces caught the IJRG by surprise. QPRA machine gun fire from building windows, sewers, basement windows, corners, and holes peppered many of the Japanese forces. Grenades were thrown as well. There were simply too many to throw back.
"Fire now!" an officer shouted as the first RPG was fired at the rear of an Armoured Personnel Carrier, penetrating its armour and blowing it up, killing or wounding the IJRG troop near it. More RPGs were fired at the trucks, which were an easy target. Soldiers with heavy machines guns also aimed at the wheels of many trucks, in order to stop them in their tracks, but this was the second priority to killing as many IJRG troops as one could. Snipers were largely successful, killing some of the men in white uniforms with blue trims, although many got to cover in the massive firefight. Around three snipers fired simultaneously at the commander in crimson with purple trims. The commander would be extremely lucky to survive.
It would be hell on earth for the IJRG troops as QPRA forces from all sides fired on them and explosions were rampant. The QPRA were confident not to be hit with artillery considering how close they were. If the Japanese did fire artillery, there would surely be friendly fire.
After around two minutes, the IJRG started firing back. One of the IJRG bullets went through the window of the basement Ghazali was in, going into one of the QPRA soldiers' foot. He fell to the ground, crying in pain. As two other soldiers tried to bring him to the safety of the walls, bullets rained in. One of the soldiers was shot in the head and immediately died while another was shot in the back. He fell to the ground, paralyzed and unconscious and rapidly bleeding out. Ghazali immediately went prone on the floor and moved slowly to the injured man and the paralyzed one, gripping the injured one first, he pulled them back to the wall. "Thank you, brother," the injured man said as he took off his bloodied shoe and a medic came and took out the tools needed to remove a bullet inside his foot from his first aid kit.
"Ahh!" the man screamed as the bullet quickly gripped the bullet with tweezers and forcefully pulled. After that, he poured Gin over the wound before taking a sip and bandaging the wound. Another bullet came through the window, hitting the floor. After that, the medic went over to the paralyzed man. "He'll be dead," he said.
"Then at least make use of him!" the officer shouted. The medic immediately carried the paralyzed man and put him facing the window, he was immediately peppered by bullets, but the medic was protected. He was now the human shield.
Ghazali took his assault rifle and blindly fired through the window, wounding one Japanese soldier after a bullet went into his leg, making him fall to the ground. Ghazali continued to fire, killing the man. The IJRG soldiers started throwing their own grenades at buildings during the chaos. One of these grenades landed in the basement. The officer pushed Ghazali to the ground while grabbing one of the soldiers and jumping to the ground. The grenade exploded, killing everyone in the room except the officer and Ghazali. When he got up, he saw the dead mangled bodies of his comrades who were once alive. The man whose foot had been injured was on the floor, his stomach open and insides pouring out; blood coming out of his mouth.
The medic who had helped the man was now dead, his leg separated from his body. Ghazali saw the medic's eyes; they were horridly outside of his body, being held from falling to the floor by the medic's eye sockets. After looking around in the destruction, he also saw that the officer's leg was injured. "Help me," the officer said while reaching his hand out to Ghazali.
He took the officer and carried him to the walls. He slowly crouched and crawled to the first aid kit, grabbing it and crawling back. He then bandaged the officer's leg. "Thank you," the officer said in pain. After that, Ghazali sat down by the officer as the battle raged on.
Meanwhile, the QPRA machine gunners were killing many men but had also taken casualties. The tanks were now firing at the buildings, killing many. However, many of the tanks had already been destroyed due to the massive bombardment from RPGs as well as other explosive devices such as C4.
"Ghazali... That's your name, isn't it?" the officer said.
"Yes, it is."
"So," the officer said, "religion?"
It was common for many people in the QPRA to ask the religion of their comrades as it helped many religious people get into groups considering nearly everyone had Arabic names.
"Muslim."
"Atheist," the officer responded.
After a small pause, Ghazali asked, "Why?"
"God is but an invention of man. I do believe in the ideas of many religions, like those Christian buggers. Islam though is a violent religion."
"No, it's not."
"Oh yes, it is. The Quran tells Muslims to kill those who disbelieve, like Hindus and Christians and Jews and Atheists."
"I don't do that."
"Then you're not Muslim. Muslims are those who 'submit to God's will'. You clearly don't, considering you have the heart to actually feel compassion for those who don't follow that cult."
"I... guess so."
"Then it's settled. We talk later, there's a f*cking battle right now."
The battle still raged on as civilians now joined the fight. The men fought with guns while the women and children strapped suicide bombs to themselves and blue themselves up near the Japanese while other charged at them with knives or to simply get their guns in order to stop them from firings, giving the QPRA forces a chance to continue firing.

"What the f*ck are those?" one of the QPRA soldiers said in shock as the Allanean strategic bombers flew over Derna. The bomber's belly opened as bombs fell down. These did not affect those ambushing the Japanese in any way because of the closeness of the Japanese to them. These bombs - instead - fell on the garbage trucks supposed to stop the Japanese from escaping, causing them to exploded and become even harder to move. Meanwhile, other bombs fell on an intersection where there were transport vehicles from which the QPRA were bringing ammunition from. Most of these bombs miraculously missed. Only one bomb fell, blowing up one of the empty trucks. The QPRA immediately pulled out all the ammunition from the rest of the trucks and took them to where the ambush was happening.
Tripoli
The Krenorussian assaults had put a dent in the QPRA lines. Yohanatan was extremely worried because these assaults had cut the QPRA forces in half. He immediately prepared troops to take back the lost areas.

The radio quickly announced the Japanese response to the St. Georgian pilot's request for an escort, to which the pilot responded, "Order received and understood, we will be moving towards Al-Habanah Airport as soon as possible, thank you for the escort sir." And with that, the pilot announced to the men in the cabin that they were soon to land, the three men, along with Lt-Gen. William Dawes quickly unloaded their handguns and pulled back the slide to remove the round from the chamber and placed the weapon in its case and quickly buckled up for the bumpy ride to the Al-Habanah Airport tarmac. Once the plane had finally reached the ground, Dawes quickly made his way out to the awaiting Marshall Minami and General Ayaka, holding onto his briefcase, he walked over to them and extended his hand and said, "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, I would like to thank you for agreeing to meet with us."

Unfortunetely for many of the Tozamas who tried to charge into the crowd, they would not make it. The QPRA soldiers simply fired at the Tozamas' heads. While this happened, QPRA forces intensified the attack against the Japanese in the trenches by throwing grenades into the trenches. These attacks would come in short but hard bursts.
Ghazali looked at his officer while he slept. He was still scared as the fighting raged on. What should I do? he thought as he heard the screams of both the Japanese and Qaidi, scared and furious, for dead friends and death to the enemy.
The sound of footsteps could be heard among the screaming and gunfire and explosions; getting louder and louder every step. Finally, the footsteps slowed down and became quieter. Eventually, Ghazali knew what would happen. It was either life or death; the QPRA or Japanese 'Devils'. "Get down!" one of the soldiers shouted in Arabic as QPRA soldiers stormed the room. The soldiers quickly lowered their weapons at the gruesome sight of the dead. Behind them, the sergeant quickly barged through the soldiers to simply be stopped in his tracks by the sight.
"What... is... this?" the sergeant asked as he looked at the dead.
Ghazali simply looked on as he tried to speak, but his lips would not move. Finally, the officer - who had been awakened by the noise - said: "What the Japanese bastards did!"
"Damn," the sergeant said as he looked around. Finally, he saw the officer's leg. "Take that man to a medic!" he ordered as two of the soldiers went and carried him. "What about our task? We'll be unable to complete it unless we have one more soldier," one of the soldiers said. The sound of fighting was still going on and on. "You," the sergeant said to Ghazali. "What's your name?"
"Mohammad Ghazali bin Iqwan"
"Good, Ghazali. You're coming with us."
Ghazali got up and took his BH-183. The other men and he quickly walked up the basement stairs to the house, which had been severely damaged. He presumed the squad came through here because of the cover the house provided. He and the other men made their way through the ruins, stepping around dead bodies and animals such as stray cats and dogs. "This is quite the wreckage, isn't it?" he asked but the others did not respond. Ghazali did nothing but continue walking.
"So, Sergeant. What is your name?" Ghazali asked as they continued walking, alert in case any Japanese soldiers fired on them. "Ghazali, right?"
the Sergeant asked as he raised his eyebrows.
"Yes," he responded, quite nervous.
"Shut up. We don't want those Japanese targeting you considering how big a target your mouth is," he said before the men burst out into quick laughter before moving on. "Yessir," Ghazali responded. After walking for a while, they reached a house which was full of wounded QPRA troops, being cared for by medics.
"By the way, Ghazali. It's Sergeant Imran," the sergeant said as they walked into cheers from the wounded soldiers; among the cheers were words of encouragement. One of the men shouted: 'Killing those Japanese bast*rds!' to more cheers and applause.
"Into the basement, boys," one of the soldiers standing guard said before the sergeant and the men walked down the wooden, clunky steps. Inside the basement were tanks of gas along with machine guns, assault rifles, and explosives. "Get that flamethrower," the Sergeant said before one of the soldiers took the flamethrower. "Get a fuel canister as well to fit onto that flamethrower."
"Get what ammunition you need," Sergeant Imran said as the soldiers re-armed themselves. Ghazali simply collected more ammunition for his BH-183.
When the men finished re-arming, they walked out of the basement and the house. As they got near the Japanese trenches, they got into cover. They saw Japanese soldiers firing at the civilians, who were firing shots back. They waited for the opportunity to strike. While waiting, they saw much. A Japanese 'Tozama' charging and stabbing a QPRA soldier before exploding while a QPRA soldier sprayed five Japanese soldiers with a machine gun. A Japanese grenade blowing off the arm of a civilian teenager, who cried as a medic fell on him - dead - after being shot by a Japanese gun. An IJRG soldier being shot in the chest by a stray bullet, falling to the mud-ridden ground of the trenches, which were filled with bodies. The trenches reeked of death and rotting flesh. Finally, the opportunity arose when a QPRA soldier threw a grenade into the Japanese trenches while two machine gunners pinned down the Japanese soldiers from trying to throw the grenade back.
The explosion was loud but was unalienable from the other explosions happening. What Ghazali did see was screams of some Japanese. Next thing he knew, the man with a flamethrower - Ahmad - was running out with his comrades behind him, firing on the Japanese scum. Ahmad fired his flamethrower; the flames burning many a Japanese and dead body alike. Ghazali did not believe that Ahmad liked what he was doing, but he could not think as soon he was firing his BH-183 at the Japanese. He was shocked that even in this warfare, the Japanese were still fighting tooth and nail for their Emperor, or was it, Shogun?
Whatever was happening, it seemed that the QPRA were winning as they rushed the Japanese positions, though they suffered many casualties. Ghazali soon saw a man dual-wielding machine guns firing at the Japanese, shouting, 'For the people of Qaidi! Death to the Japanese Imperial Scum!'
Ghazali knew this would end in a bloodbath. Well, it already was, wasn't it?

"Red Castle. Empire Five-One here..." Orbiting 42,000 feet above the sea and a hundred miles from the action in the aforementioned city, an Voyager EC.4 of the 5th Imperial and Royal Surveillance Group with the callsign of Empire Five-One had everything happening below in its sights. Under the airborne battle management and command post's purview were also the mother of all strike packages scheduled for the Japanese in Derna.
"Empire Five-One. Red Castle acknowledges. Go ahead."
"Empire Five-One. We have a developing Broken Arrow event in Derna. Empire Five-One is assuming temporary air control over your assets for the Qaidi theatre. We are assigning all available air assets to emergency suppression..."
"Red Castle copies. Patching you through to Akagi 11-Lead now."
Hundreds of miles westwards, the lead elements of the 11th Carrier Fighter Regiment, Imperial Fusō Naval Aviation was already nearly within release range of Tripoli when it suddenly snapped around ninety degrees towards the east, the Broken Arrow call from Empire Five-One having arrived just in the nick of time. With full supercruise it would take a bare twenty or so minutes until they arrived within weapons range of of the Japanese positions. North of them, strike assets, big and small from their home bases in Hungary and the Littorals scrambled into the air, laden full with every weapon in the Monarchy's arsenal. First to arrive though would be Akagi 11 and its consorts from No. 3 Imperial and Royal Naval Strike Group „Edler von Eberhorst“.
"Red Castle to any remaining Imperial Royal Guard callsigns in Derna. Broken Arrow is underway. Estimated Time of Arrival twenty minutes. Gods be with you all..."
And as promised, twenty five minutes later, dozens upon dozens of bomb-like objects glided in above the heads of the Qaidi communists assaulting the Japanese positions, and ignited. Searing white light and thunder, loud without precedent, enough to permanently blind and deafen anybody caught out in the open cascaded down all over the city in concentric rings radiating outwards from every allied position Empire Five-One had managed to identified and transmitted. Raining down in the aftermath of the explosions were brilliantly white fire, surrounding the lucky few survivors in its deathly embrace. Efforts to extinguish the white curtain of hell-fire with water or carbon dioxide only fuelled its intensity.
As the few Qaidi communists lucky enough to still be alive after the inferno it was not over, far from it. Low in the skies, a single line of Tornadoes and Firefalcons stretching from horizon to horizon screamed in from the sea as their MW-1 submunition dispensers started to discharge their payloads. Tens of thousands of bomblets and antirunway bombs tore a new avenue into the city, turning buildings, cars, armoured vehicles, roads, even the reinforced concrete buses the Qaidi communist army had barricaded themselves with into shrapnel. Following the Tornadoes and Firefalcons as they ejected their MW-1's and egressed were Peregrine FA.4's from the light carriers. They laid a corridor of napalm down on the newly created avenue, turning it again into another inferno. Finally, with the city burning below it, the final strike package arrived, nearly an hour since the beginning of the massive air raid. San Real B.1's from Bomb Group „Kaiser“ Nr. 1 released thousands of guided fuel air explosives on the ruined city, drawing and consuming the oxygen the young firestorm that was breaking out needed and quenching the flames.

QPRA troops were feeling the heat of the Coalition bombings. The casualty rates were still skyrocketing; the smell of rotten flesh clogged the streets. The intensive patrols done by the QPAF along with the Krenorussians had crippled the QPRA capacity to send troops to fight the invading Japanese. The Allanean bombings and fortresses were also a stake in the kidney for the Commander Yohanatan.
"Shit," Yohanatan said to his fellow comrades as they looked over a map of Tripoli. Civilian intelligence had suggested that the Japanese were in the perfect spot to steamroll past QPRA trenches, which had resorted to using hidden speakers to spew sounds of laughter during the periods of peace to make the Japanese assume that there were plenty of forces to defend against them. The QPAF patrols were producing high casualties for both sides, except the QPAF had an abundance of trained soldiers while the QPRA had simply had around a few thousand soldiers with many barely trained civilians.
As they discussed, the sound of fighting from outside the room could be heard. Suddenly, two soldiers ran into the room. "There's a mutiny!" one of them shouted as all the men armed themselves with pistols. "I will go first," Yohanatan said, confidently.
"What if they shoot you?" one of the soldiers said while getting in the way of Yohanatan. "Then let them! I trust in the loyalty of the people to ensure my survival!"
At this, the soldier stepped aside as Yohanatan opened the door to weapons aimed at him. Soldiers with balaclavas aimed their BH-183s at Yohanatan as their leader stepped forward.
"What is this?" Yohanatan said. The leader looked at him. "A Rebellion, for the people."
"You? For the people? You must be joking."
The rebellious leader's eyes lit up with immense ire! He slowly pointed his shaking index finger at him. "Shoot this... false shepherd of the people! This bourgeoisie!" Yohanatan simply looked at him with pity. He slowly walked forward, hiding his hands behind his back because they were shaking. He had butterflies in his stomach.
"Soldiers of the proletariat!" he said, confidently though he was scared, "Look at me! I am your Commander. I have suffered with you! I have starved with you! If you are true fighters of the proletariat, aim your weapons at that rebellious leader of 'yours'; and if you wish to shoot me and betray all the people and the ideals you fought for," he said as he opened his arms, "Here I am." The rebellious leader looked at him with more anger. "Fire!" he shouted to no following. As the soldiers stood idle, one of them fainted. The rest turned their weapons on the rebellious leader. "Kill that bourgeoisie," he said as he walked off. One of the soldiers immediately shot a bullet into the leader's head.
Suddenly, explosions were heard. They shook much of Tripoli. "Get down!" Yohanatan shouted. Everyone fell to the ground as the waves generated from the explosions reached the building. "I don't think that the building is damaged," one of his comrades said as they all slowly got up. Yohanatan immediately took a radio. "All troops near the site of those bombings, investigate."
Near the site of one of the explosions
Sergeant Nayem bin Shaniq walked with his men as they approached the trail of black smoke contrasting the light blue sky and white fluffy clouds. Not wishing to run into enemies unprepared, Sergeant Nayem ordered one of his men to head onto a rooftop to see what happened. "Sir!" said man shouted, "It's an Allanean fortress! Those Capitalist scumbags are leaving the fortresses." Nayem was surprised by this. He immediately got onto the radio.
"This is Sergeant Nayem of Jalid Squad, 2nd Tripolitan Proletariat Platoon: We have discovered the origin of the explosions have come from Allanean fortresses. They seem to be leaving." Others reported the same.
Much of the QPRA celebrated. Forces could now be re-assigned and now the QPRA would be in a much stronger position. Some of the QPRA commanders wanted to launch mortars at the Allaneans leaving, but Yohanatan would have none of it. He said that the Allaneans would probably send a deadly payback which would cripple the QPRA. Although the QRPA would not assault the Allaneans, they would issue a public letter. The streets of Tunis and Sfax were in celebration of the 'victory'. Although President Mahmoud was still under custody by the QPAF, the Deputy President - Hermann Yoseph De'Qaidi - was still not yet made the temporary President.

Even RPGs fired at the tank were no use against the reactive armour. QPRA troops realised that they could rush the tank.
