[As more time passes, more and more foreigners disappear without explanation. Obstacles to reaching the one diplomatic island remaining at Elevit Airport are increasing as the gauntlet of vigilantes becomes increasingly deadly, and no nation inserts security guards to protect refugees. Time is running out; thousands have left, but thousands still remain trapped.]

RNIS wires 50 million dinars to Dura-Tec. Their mission? Secure the airport at all costs. Weapons are sent to the Nationalist militias popping up all over the country. They train in secret, ready to strike the Communists at a moment's notice.

Burale Airport is handed over to the Nationalist militias without a fight. They take the uniforms of regular security guards to avoid suspicion. The military has been fully infiltrated by Nationalists. They have convinced the senior officers that the Commubists will kill them next, unless they protect themselves. The military is deployed across the country ahead of the election.

“The mathematics are not working out, Thomas.” - Priscilla Conde, the Minister of War, said as she looked at the Colonel. “Your people have done a very fine job. They are managing a six-plane airlift every three hours, which is airlifting six thousand people each time. This is heroic. But the math isn’t there.”

“We have airlifted thirty thousand men, and right now a new airlift is preparing to airlift six thousand more. I am not prepared to say the airlift isn’t working.” - Morrison said. “Unless the Diyaristani go absolutely berserk... we’re going to be fine.” - the Colonel explained. “Within a day or two, it is going to be done, done, done.”

“And perhaps thousands who aren’t Allaneans, they’re going to die.”

“Minister, that is not how anything works.” - Morrison said. “Our countrymen are being held, effectively, hostage. Until the last men and women at that airfield have been recovered, we can’t risk any serious action to stem the tide. Nevertheless. I pray that it will not tear itself apart in the next two days. There is little we can do to until that - other than prayer, that is.”

“An OAS operative recommending prayer?”

“I also recommend... research.”

“I have already issued the orders. You will receive the databases we accumulated while working in that country. We need to have them looked at by your people.” - Priscilla said.

*

The Allanean officers continue working at a frenzied pace. Every plane that leaves the country - loaded with men, women, and whatever meager possession that they have managed to scrounge up - is a victory. Several groups of cargo planes come and leave to the airfield, now operating in a sort of shuttle system, where a different group of planes is already on it way to Diyaristan as a given group is being loaded. Hastily-chartered civilian craft land at the airfield, and perhaps thirty minutes later they leave, ladened with hundreds of men. Military cargo planes land an hour later at the same runway, or sometimes simply on a flat field near the airport, and are soon rapidly filled with Allanean teachers, headmasters, nurses, and their families. The numbers are astounding.

In the next hour, six thousand five hundred men and women leave the country in seven flights. Two hours later, six thousand more are being packed onto six more planes. By midnight, nearly fifty thousand Allaneans are out of the country.

By six AM, the last ones have already left.

The PLU commander gathers his men on the runway.

It is time for the last speech to be given.

“Men! Warriors!

We have completed the last stage of Operation Moses. It is not - strictly speaking - a Prison Liberation Unit Operation. We have cut no throats, split no chains, brought down no prison wall. But we have rescued sixty thousand men, women, and children. Because of what we did in the last few days, sixty thousand people will get to go home to their families.

I want that number to sink in for you. I want you to think of the people you spoke to today - that old lady that was rude to you when you were not handling her bag right, and that baby that was crying in its mother’s arms, and that guy that kept complaining, and that bitchy lady with the librarian glasses. Thousands of people are standing in airports now, with handwritten signs that say - JOE or ALICE or DADDY or MUMMY or FEDOR or LAYLA or even MR. SMITH. Soon these people’s eyes will gleam with joy and hope will turn - not to disappointment, not to terror, but to relief and joy as they will know you have not failed. They will know that the lady with the librarian glasses has not been hanged, that the baby had not been torn from its mother’s chest.

It is said sometimes tha a man can be proud if he had saved an innocent life.

Each man in this Company has saved at least four hundred.

They will give us medals, and badges, and some of us might even get book contracts and film deals.

But let me tell you, none of these are worth as much to me as to know that that wailing baby in the pram we loaded into the cargo jet will crawl about in its pram, and laugh, and grow up, and go to prom, and play airsoft and football, and go to college.

Each of us are saviors today, heroes and protectors. We are reuniters of families, we are the ones who bring Mr. Smith home to his students, Fedor home to his fiance, Daddy and Mummy home to their children.

For we are PLU men.

And this day is our Victory Day.

Hurrah!”

And the company answered in a roar.

Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah!

SWEEPING NATIONALIST ELECTION VICTORY

With the Nationalists winning the Supreme Ijma elections by huge margins, the new President-Elect Burgat Alamardin has issued an executive order to suspend all border controls for outgoing foreign nationals. While the order can not overturn existing laws regarding emigration permanently, it does give citizens of other countries the ability to repatriate freely. Thousands of Diyaristani citizens are also seeking citizenship in foreign countries so they too can legally leave the country, though it is unknown if any other countries will accept citizenship applications from Diyaristani immigrants, or how many.

In the wake of the Communist Party's stunning collapse as an electoral force, the newly-official Ijma is entering into debate about changing the flag back to that of the former Republic. But that has not quieted fears of a possible coup. Although all foreign nationals are now being released from police detention under the executive order, there remains the fact that thousands of Diyaristani citizens are still being detained and interrogated by the police under the Foreign Surveillance Act without a hearing.

"I don't know if we have the authority to fully rein in the bureaucracy," the President-Elect was quoted as saying. "We hired Dura-Tek to guard the Supreme Ijma and Presidential Palace against possible acts of unlawful terrorism against the duly elected representatives of Diyara." Nationalist militias, meanwhile, are rumored to be training in secret for expected political violence. The party had no comment on whether the rumors were true.

In economic news, capital flight is expected to worsen in the short term. Investors took a little hope, however, upon seeing that Dura-Tek has become a notable exception to this trend. DTI has established numerous training centers for its PMC activity, although legally they have to train unarmed under the anti-militia bill, a law which the Nationalist-dominated legislature is expected to repeal. Meanwhile, Dura-Tek stocks are surging upward on the world market in expectation of making windfall profits off the growing security concerns in Diyaristan.

President releases political rival when he didn't have to.

Postby Bruke » Wed Dec 13, 2017 3:07 am

Elevit Detention Facility

President-Elect Burgat Alamardin walked straight to the cell of his one-time rival, Alsa Lao.

"What are you doing here?! You had something to do with this didn't you?"

"I know just as much as you."

"Prove it."

Alamardin motioned to the guards to go into her cell.

"GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME!"

"No no no no. You don't understand. You're being released."

"But you have everything you wanted. Why not just kill me now, and be done with it? Rule the country with an iron fist."

"That's not what I want. That's NEVER what I wanted, and how dare you accuse me of that! I gave my life for this country, just as much as you! You think I'm like THEM?!" He gestured to the portrait of the Communist Party leadership hanging on the wall. "They took my wife from me... my son... They shot them right in front of me to SHUT ME UP. That's what tyrants do. I'm no tyrant. I don't want to see you killed, or anyone else for that matter. All I want is for the country to be at peace. Will you join me, in building a better future for the people, for the country?"

She smiled. "Yes."

They walked out of the prison, where a car was waiting to take Lao back to her own home.
Alamardin waved goodbye. "Take care, fellow patriot. We'll see each other soon."

OOC: I like your style.. you just unified the two major parties in a single patriotic front by sending the President to release a political opponent from prison, and added excellent backstory details to one of my characters. This will have significant effects down the line.

I've provided context clues hidden in various places across my posting history about where the secret power cards of the Communist Party may be hidden. It'll require a bit of digging, but the moves to come will determine whether Diyaristan turns into a fully communist psychotic dictatorship or at long last makes moves to restore civil rights and democracy under the NP-SLP united front. A third, 'compromise' ending is possible at the moment too: Iron Fist Socialists. I already indicated there are two factions inside the Party struggling for power, and its roots run surprisingly deep in the political system. Can you find all the assassins?

IC below.

Presidential Palace

Away from the hubbub of people congratulating the new president on the release of political prisoners and winning the election, a few people gathered away from the noise, certain they took every precaution not to be surveilled.

"When will we strike, comrade? This is absolutely horrible. Foreign ticks are going to bleed our country!"
"We want to off the capitalist snake, commander! I am tired of waiting..."
"Do you know why the Center had us wait? The Party is unacceptably weak. Party leaders have been disappearing left and right, and not all the enemies have been dug out of the Party..."
"Enemies, comrade commander?"
"I'll tell you more later, but a revisionist line has surfaced more and more openly. We have a small assignment to be completed in the meantime."
"What is it?"
"You'll know when it's time. Head to the security wing of the palace and acquire a Dura-Tek uniform and pass. Another revolutionary inside the organization will be on hand to give it to you."
"And, if I'm caught?"
"You will scream "Allahu Akhbar" and take down as many enemies as possible. There are two separate hit lists, one for if you succeed, and one for if you're caught. The first is a number of Dura-Tek employees we want dead, and the second will be provided by our agent inside the company."

Media Blackout!

Postby Diyaristan » Sun Dec 17, 2017 12:54 am

News Blackout Rolls Over the Country

The Diyara News Service announcer spoke up on the television. Saying the station was going to be down for maintenance, he apologized to all the viewers for the inconvenience. Other networks, all of them state-owned, were shutting down as well, as well as cancelling foreign television broadcasts. He urged everyone not to panic, but to remain in good order and go about their lives like normal while they worked on getting the station back online. Driving to work, people notice fairly quickly that something isn't normal, but few can hazard a guess what that is.

Inside the Presidential Palace, President Alamardin and his staff watched as the lights went out. Calling security, he found that the line to the security bunker was not functioning, and told his staff, those who were with him, to accompany him there. An advisor peeked inside, flinching, turning to the President of Diyaristan, skin uncommonly pale, unable to speak. His throat was frozen in terror. A moment, and he said everyone in the room was dead. The President said immediately that whoever killed all those Dura-Tek mercenaries probably has the Presidential escape tunnel blocked off and rushed off in the other direction. The advisory panel ran too as soon as they heard someone approaching. The State Vault, it was the only safe place, the number of dead mounting the further the party ran... and there they were, trapped in a bullion vault and cut off from the country, or any way of calling for help.

Business went on as usual in the capital city of Elevit, its thoroughfares filled with traffic and neon lights lighting up the sky, people choking on the thick smog that filled the air that day and the lights given their usual apocalyptic-looking glow by the nitrous clouds, people blissfully unaware of what was going on, or whether intelligence assets of foreign countries were aiding or opposing, or even aware of, the coup attempt happening only a few blocks away.

The Military of Diyaristan moves into action, and surrounds the Presidential Palace to protect the President. No one else is let in or out of the Palace. All suspected Communist sympathizers are arrested and thrown into prison. A call is put out onto the Nationalist radio and television network, and is broadcast throughout the country: "The blackout cannot be a coincidence! Communists must be attacking the President! People of Diyaristan, rise up and defend democracy!"

The Expeditionary Corps of the Royal Brukean Armed Forces assassinate several high-ranking Communist Party members. To the public, it appears to be the result of internal struggles within the Communist Party.

Nationalist militias, dressed in military uniforms, set up checkpoints around Elevit. No one is allowed in or out of the city.

The End: Communism Goes Up in Flames as Streets, Palace Ablaze

Image

Militias loyal to the President defied the ban on militia activity and today battled police. In many cases, the police and military simply stood by and gave their weapons over to the groups, although fierce gun battles took place shortly after one group, calling itself the Diyara National Army, fought its way into the presidential palace alongside regular military who joined them.

The Presidential Palace, which was flying the flag of ISIS at the time, became the focal point of fighting between Communist militias and the anticommunist groups, while on the inside, suspected religious terrorists were holed up, having killed the president's bodyguards. President Alamardin and most of his cabinet were found inside a vault after the action.

The suspected new leader of the Communists, known only as Hival-17, is believed to have systematically eliminated his or her opponents in a ruthless internal purge, with former Chairman Salam Istiyar believed to be among those who were killed. In a Party circular, an article attributed to "Hival-17" urged Party members to take to the western mountains and "kill the factionalist-revisionists burrowing within the Party, return to the hard path of revolution, you followed the bourgeois Istiyar line of elections and reformism rather than immediately imposing proletarian class dictatorship. Fight for your survival!"

The DCP, reeling from its defeats at the polls and public dissatisfaction with the party's disastrous economic performance, called on its followers to defend themselves to the death, take to the mountains, and launch a new war. Not many, except for party diehards, are expected to follow. For now, apart from isolated incidents of terrorism, the country has largely been seized by loyalists of the Nationalists and Social Liberals as opposition quickly dissolved. The country can move forward with democracy. A Nationalist gunman told Diyara News, "We must now be vigilant in defense of our nation, lest the specter of terrorism haunt us again later."

Official Message from the Free Kingdom Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Free Kingdom of Allanea is happy to see Democracy in Diyaristan preserved through the hard efforts of the Diyaristani people. We have to say we were not very optimistic about your success. We congratulate both President Alamardin and the people of Diyaristan on their success, and the outcome of the election.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is immediately moving to organize support for Diyaristan from both Allanean resources and the Capitalist International. For this purpose, first of all, we have filed a request with Congress to have the DCP added to the List of Prohibited Terrorist Organizations in Allanea, prohibiting therefore all aid to the organization from within Allanea, and authorizing military action against it. Moreover, we are filing a request with the Inspector-General of the CAPINTERN to transfer CAPINTERN funds, weapons, and instructors to assist Diyaristan and its people in its counterterrorist actions.

Should all authorization be received properly – which we definitely hope it will – we would like to receive authorization from the lawful government of Diyaristan to send small amounts of troops to provide military support against the terrorists (at no point will their number be larger than 5,000 men, a regiment-strength force), as well as to carry out drone and air force operations against them. The history of Allanea-Diyaristan relations will show that we have always been respectful of Diyaristan’s people, and always have assisted them.

JOINT STATEMENT FROM THE BRUKEAN MINISTRIES OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND SECURITY:

The Government requests assistance from the Diyarstani government in hunting down suspected members of the People's Revolutionary Front, a terrorist group that seeks communist revolution in both our country and throughout West America. Several high-ranking members of the PRF have been by providing weapons and training to the Diyaristani Communist Party. We, of course, will designate the DCP as a terrorist organization, allowing for us to place sanctions, authorize overseas operations, and other actions.

We hope that our cooperation will lead to the defeat of both groups.

::::::: TELEBAREED DIYARA A.Ş.

FROM: Agreed Statement of the Supreme Ijma and Office of the President
TO: Free Kingdom Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Allanea), Brukean Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Security

We will gladly accept assistance from our allies in preserving the security of our democracy. Having all too much experience with violence at home, we will also help defeat the PRF in the Brukean homeland. Our people are weary of war, yet the last thing we want is a hostile Communist movement toppling an ally and endangering the victory we've just achieved at home.

We trust our allies in the Free Kingdom of Allanea greatly, and all necessary permissions to deploy counter-terrorism units will be granted.

[END]

EDIT: It is not too late at all. Looks like the Brukean PRF rebels actually came here...

Leyfield Palace, Sovereign Duchy of Leyfield

“Do you think it’s worth pointing out we’re not, technically speaking, an ally of Diyaristan?” – Queen Cassiopeia said as she looked at the screen.

Her Minister of War, a brown-haired woman by the name of Priscilla Conde, smiled: “I do think that it’s the thought that counts.”

In a country like Allanea, where the central government was almost entirely reduced to the proverbial ‘army, courts, and the roads’ the Minister of War was an important executive post, perhaps only sharing its importance with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and perhaps of Finance.

“Oh I kid, I kid.” – Cassiopeia said – “You have handled Operation Moses wonderfully, by the way. It could have gone awfully worse, I am proud of you.”

“Thank you, Cassie.” – by now, the two women have established a friendly rapport, one that was uncommon between a even a Queen and her Minister. Shared experiences, shared concerns, shared suffering have brought them together.

“Now, Pris, let us move on with the next stage of this. I have already talked to Sirithil, and we have a release to use CAPINTERN equipment in this operation. I would like you to see what you can send to the Diyaristani. The obvious choice would be aircraft, and of course ammunition and weapons so that they can trash the Commies but good.”

“That’s fair.” – the other woman said. “What about the troops?”

“You are the War Minister, you tell me.”

“I believe that the Commies have put themselves at a disadvantage. We need to thread the needle between the fact that we want to exploit as much about that as possible before they can figure out what they did wrong, and the fact we don’t want to appear that we’re coming to occupy the place, because we are not, and would not want to.”

“So far so good,” – said Cassiopeia, taking a red pen from the desk and twirling it.

“For this purpose we need mountain troops, tactical aircraft, drones, and a small complement of artillery, preferably towed so we can operate it with ease even in the mountains.”

“This is good, it makes sense to me so much.”

Image
Capitalist International

Given the urgent situation in Diyaristan, CAPINTERN leadership has chosen to make an emergency transfer of funds and equipment to the government of Diyaristan. For this purpose we will transfer a first tranche of $120 million Universal Standard Dollars to Diyaristan’s government by bank wire.

To bridge some of the logistics issues Diyaristan may be having, we would like to transfer 500 Forza Corio military trucks and 1000 Pseudonaja protected mobility vehicles. We would like to warn the government of Diyaristan, however, that these vehicles have spent quite some time in storage, and so we are now taking the time to inspect them as we load them on the RO-RO to ship to your nation. Some malfunctions might still happen, but we hope it’s better to have these vehicles that none at all. If there are great issues, we will send more. Please inform us of the ammunition types used by your artillery and small arms so we can determine additional aid.

Image
Official Announcement of the Free Kingdom Ministry of War

The Ministry of War announces the commencement of Operation Caradhras, which will be the name of the first stage of our counterinsurgency assistance operation. For this purpose, we are preparing to airlift the following equipment to Diyaristan:

1. 12 LIRCAS Sergeant aircraft will be delivered as a gift to the government of Diyaristan, for use by its armed forces.

2. A Air Regiment of 24 UCAV aircraft and their mechanics will be deployed to the country (the aircraft will be delivered in a disassembled state by plane and deployed on location, the pilots themselves will operate the aircraft by SATCOM).

3. A battalion of 500 Mountain Warfare Troops is being prepared to be airlifted, as well as two battalions of artillery (this will be a further 500 men, manning just under fifty towed 152mm guns).

4. A guided missile warship, the FKS Industrious, is on its way to the theater of war.

While we prepare for these operations, we would like to get the input of the Diyaristani government on these options and on any additional help they might require.

*

Less advertised than these measures was the fact that several of the CAPINTERN alliance’s observation satellites have been quietly rerouted, their orbits adjusting by mere degree, just enough that they could, at different times, pass over the mountains of Diyaristan, scanning the terrain below by optical, infra-red, and RADAR for anything that might look like terrorist camps, combat vehicles columns, or troop movement.

What they would detect, that remained an issue.

Foreign Minister Beryihun Gezaee, Security Minister Nebiyou Gizaw, and RNIS Director Getachew Mergessa sit in as the President calls Queen Cassiopeia.

"Hello Your Majesty, this is President Bereket Abera of the Royal Republic of Bruke. His Majesty the King has authorized me to contact you regarding cooperation in anti-communist operations in Diyaristan. We already have several intelligence and military assets stationed in the country who are ready for action. The most crucial assistance you could give us is satellite data, as our security forces currently have no satellite capabilities. What say you?"

Civil Unrest In The Pan-Asiatic States Continues As Citizens Call To Arms
Image

MALACANANG PALACE, NEO-MANILA, December 22: Protesters proceed to riot around the gates of the Palace and the Lenin Memorial, several already having been arrested for vandalism; calling to bear arms and smash counter-revolutions in Diyaristan. Secretary-General Garrick Mensenares has been reported to have left the country to personally meet Salam Istiyar, Maoist Chairman of the DCP. Radicals are hoping that he will decide to do much more than embargo trade deals with the enemies of the Commune, whilst economists are hoping that the Secretary-General will lift the embargo.

Fernando Concepcion, Head of Government, released the official statement on the issue last night:

"The State of the Pan-Asiatic People, after having discussed the recent political instability in Diyaristan, seek to maintain the best intentions for the DCP and for the country. However, it is by experience that we know it is the days after a revolution has succeeded that the most difficult of times come. The Pan-Asiatic Government, as of now, will continue to regulate and maintain order within the state of Diyaristan. We neither deny nor acknowledge that any military action will be taken. We only aim to protect the people of Diyaristan from further conflict.

Let it be known to revolutionaries from both the far-right and far-left that any violation of human rights will not be tolerated by the Pan-Asiatic government. We will immeadiately withdraw support from the DCP if the such should be allowed. As of now, we have sent military advisers as well as Secretary-General Garrick Mensenares to keep an eye on the nation. We, will be watching."

Royal Republic of Bruke

The Government of the Royal Republic warns the People's Republic of Pan-Asiatic States that support for the Diyarstani Communist Party will be considered as a hostile action against the legitimate, and democratically elected government of Diyaristan, and the Royal Republic itself. The Government strongly advises that the Pan-Asiatic government end its support for the DCP, or countermeasures will be taken.

The Royal Expeditionary Corps prepares for deployment.

Two battalions consisting of 800 soldiers each, along with two squadrons of 12 aircraft each and associated personnel, will be sent to Diyaristan. The battalions feature a mix of light and medium tanks, self-propelled artillery such as howitzers and field guns, and logistics and transport units, mainly helicopters, jeeps, and armored trucks. The squadrons feature 8 attack helicopters, 2 UAVs, and 2 refueling aircraft. The UAVs will be controlled remotely, while the others will be flown and operated by 60 personnel.

Their mission will be to secure the areas surrounding the mountains; safeguarding urban centers and cutting off potential supply routes used by the terrorists.

The Security Ministry asks for feedback from the Diyaristani government before forces are deployed, to ensure that it is providing the best possible assistance.
