The Peace With Honor (Elvarya Only)

My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time.
-British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, upon arriving in Britain after signing the Munich Accords.

Dec. 31st, 2018
Schönbrünn Palace, Aelstun, Germeria,
4:30 p.m.

Servants and staff hurried to and fro around the palace, preparing the grand building for it's reentry into international notice. One of the many private estates of the Aelstun family, Schönbrünn Palace has been closed off from public life and international hosting since 1952, but that would change later in the night as the Holy Kaiser of Germeria, Friedrich von Aelstun, begun his New Year's Ball. This ball would be hosted in commemoration of those lost in the great War of Two Alliances, ended only a few months prior, and all combatants from both sides would be invited, in the hope that the former enemies can reach a peaceable understanding and move beyond the wars of the past.

But for now, Friedrich had other concerns, namely being prepared and properly dressed for his own Ball. Unlike the Ball in Adfrana in what seems like so many years ago, he didn't wear the ceremonial white robes of Kaiser, but a sleek black suit and tie. He was starting on his cuff links when he heard a knock on his door.

"Come in," he said, not taking his eyes away from his current task. His elderly uncle Randar hobbled into the room, one hand clutching his cane and the other an armrest of a chair as he sat himself down.

"Uncle! You're here earlier than I expected, what brings you here?" Friedrich asked, looking at his uncle from the mirror. Randar didn't answer immediately, instead taking out a cigar and lighting it. The acrid smell of Baeirn tobacco quickly spread through the room.

"The Baeirns make great cigars, Fritz. It's a shame they let it go to their heads though, their liquor is infinitely more impressive," Randar said. He thanked a passing servant who came with an ash tray, taking another breath of the cigar.

"You shouldn't smoke those, uncle. Not with your health," Friedrich reproached. Randar waved his hand at his nephew, laughing off his concerns.

"We all die someday Fritz, might as well enjoy ourselves," Randar replied. Finished with cuff links, Friedrich moved on to the next article of clothing, but his eyes kept going back to his uncle.

"You're starting to sound like Mathias," he commented.

"Even a broken clock is right twice a day Fritz. We may agree on somethings, but your brother should have taken more of your father's advice to heart. Just look at him now, drinking every night and appearing in the tabloids every other week!" Randar sighed, taking another drag of the cigar and sinking into his chair.

"But despite all that, at least he wasn't as bad your other siblings. Poor Catlyn, she didn't deserve what happened to her, Lothric save her."

Friedrich frowned at the mention of his eldest sibling. Seventeen years had allowed the wound to heal, but anger still flowed through him at the mention of his other murderous siblings. His sharp tightening of his tie was a clear signal to his uncle to change the subject.

"But enough ramblings from old men. Back towards your first question, I came by to check in on my favorite nephew, as well as to remind you that the Elector of the Palatinate, will be attending tonight, and from his letter he sent to me it appears he wishes to discuss the agreement you made with the other electors 12 years ago. The one about the marriage," he commented dryly.

"I've dodged that question for over a decade, uncle. And soon, I won't have to dodge it all," replied Friedrich. His uncle looked at him curiously from his chair.

"Oh? I hope I'm not presumptuous when I say that has something to do with those 'Easter Promises' you made, as the press likes to call it."

"Indeed it does. The electors have held too much power for too long, and any attempt to gain common enfranchisement across the empire would be countered by them in the Diet. If I want to keep my promises and avoid a rebellion, I'll need to deal with them eventually." He turned to face his uncle fully this time, a smirk on his face.

"And as you know, I'm nothing if not a man of my word." Finally done with his clothes, Friedrich pulled a chair and sat in front of his uncle.

"I've spoken to the Rectors of the Free Cities in private, and they've promised support for legislation in the next Diet, provided I safeguard their international trade interests. With their support and that of the smaller Princes threatened by revolt, I can attempt to undercut the elector's power and fulfill my promises in one sweep."

"Assuming your makeshift coalition keeps their end of the bargain. If they don't, you'll be hard pressed to get anything done for the rest of your life. The Princes have long memories, Fritz, and the electors have the longest of them all." Randar sat straight in his chair now, the cigar forgotten in its tray.

"That's a risk I'll have to take then. Ignoring both of the issues will only make things worse, and even if the coalition fails, the anger of the public will on them rather than myself," Friedrich replied coolly. Randar sighed and reached for his cigar once again, taking solace in the tobacco.

"Well, if you're set on this course, then I suggest you keep your distance from the Countess of Saxe tonight, lest the Honourable Elector-Palatine discover the...personal relationship between the two of you," Randar advised. Friedrich nodded silently, checking his phone as a notification sounded.

"It seems Kommissar Nürnberg is landing in an hour. I was afraid he wouldn't be able to make it."

"Yes, well it is time consuming when you have to coordinate arrests in the middle of the night and organize your own secret police," Randar spoke, his voice filled with venom. Friedrich shot him a warning glance, still reading his phone.

"I won't suffer any more of that kind of talk tonight, uncle. The Kommissar was appointed personally by myself in order to stop the bloodshed in Raeh, and he has been operating well within the orders I've given him. You will be polite with him and you won't embarrass the empire and myself in front of the world because of a disagreement in opinion, and most of all, you will not speak of it to the Grand Duke."

"That is assuming of course that the Grand Duke is coming. You did start the war that ended up taking his sister's life, after all," his uncle replied. While cordial, the underlying tone of his voice was getting progressively more accusatory. Mentally, Friedrich frowned. He had hoped that time would make his uncle's objections to the war lessen, but it seemed he still carried the torch.

"I trust Lusengard. He's been promoting himself as a man of peace ever since he took power in the 16 May Plot. If he's sincere, he'll come in the name of peace, and if he's not he won't risk losing face by not showing up. And I have plans that require his presence as well," Friedrich said calmly. His uncle leaned forward, a cautionary look covering his wrinkled face.

"And just what sort of plans would those be, hmm?" Friedrich rested back in the chair and steepled his fingers, rehearsing the plan in his head as he explained it.

"The Grand Duke is still a bachelor if I recall correctly, and he still lays claim to the Razonican throne, even if it's shattered beyond repair. Despite our rough history in this past year, it would be beneficial to all if a peaceful atmosphere in the former empire is established. They have the best claim, and the best deterrent to wars between monarchies lies in their blood ties. My cousin Sofia is unmarried and the two of them are similar in personality. I'll use this marriage proposal as an excuse to begin discussions about the situation in Aldes. This 'Novo Razcon' lays a claim as well, and they're a complete wildcard. If we can come to an agreement with the Grand Duke, everyone will be more at ease."

"I hope that at least you see the irony of what you wish to do and what you're proposing, Fritz. If I had a say in this I would-"

"You don't though, uncle," Friedrich cut off sharply. He took a second to compose himself before rising out of his chair.

"I think it's best if we spent our time preparing for tonight separately, uncle. Goodbye." Randar rose unsteadily from his chair, but he gave a stiff nod to his nephew as he left. Closing the door, Friedrich sighed and took a seat.

It was going to be a long night.

Various luxury cars and vehicles lined the driveway to the Imperial Palace as dignitaries and representatives from across the world came to join in on what is being increasingly known as the 'Peace Ball'. Friedrich stared at them through one of the second floor windows. As the first one came to the door, he moved to greet them, officially beginning the event.

The Grand Ducal Motorcade
12 Miles away from the Schönbrünn Palace, Aelstun, Germeria
December 31, 2019
6:06 pm

The Razorian motorcade was 3 vehicles in length, the first being the security SUV, complete with six Security Service agents, all former Imperial SpecFor operatives who looked for purpose after the collapse of the Empire, they found service to the Grand Duke, the true heir to the shattered Imperial Throne. The second was a limousine carrying Grand Duke Walther Lusengard and Prime Minister Daeron Lusengard, Walther's uncle, who served as Garrison Commander for Lussendale during the war. As he was a Lusengard, he was the only one near him he could trust. The last was a second Limousine, carrying various Razorian dignitaries who owned lands, or were instrumental in the quick construction of the Grand Duchy after the Imperial Collapse. The ride so far had been very quiet, obvious tension between the two. Daeron may be the Prime Minister, but he still holds resentment for the ones that contributed to the destruction of the Empire, the nation he loved, the death of his beloved niece. He preferred to stay in Lussendale and govern the country while the Grand Duke was away, but to no avail. For all of his complaints, it did not save him from his persistent nephew, who wanted peace and stability over all, including his uncle's stubborn and prideful ways. The Prime Minister sat and looked out of the window, visibly unhappy about the trip. He starred out at the rolling hills and thick forests that adorned both sides of the road.

"Uncle, this is the best for Razoria. I know you don't understand, but the war that killed my sister is over. The Empire is gone, the Empress is gone, and we are left to pick up the pieces. Picking them all up will be much easier if we are more open to the international community. Hostility and stubbornness didn't work for my sister, it won't work here. I'm sorry, but please put on a smile and be friendly. If you can't do that, you are more than welcome to stay in the limo." Walther said solemnly, feeling his uncle's pain, experiencing the trauma of the war all over again in the limousine. Daeron took a deep breath, clearing his throat.

"I'll be fine, nephew. It wasn't long ago that if I saw a Germerian, I'd kill him on site. We were at war, they killed our countrymen, and led to the suicide of our fair Empress. The wounds of that still run deep in me, Walther. To see my brother's oldest daughter's lifeless body, swinging from the rafters, it broke me in ways I cannot explain. I watched her grow from a young girl, playing in the streets of Lussendale, running from her little dogs.....but yes, Walther, I will put on a smile and I will shake hands, drink their drinks, eat their foods, lick their boots. But...." Daeron sighed and turned his head, looking down at first, then panning to see Walther's face.

"Whatever your decision, I will back you, one-hundred percent. You are a damned good leader, and you're more of a man than I."

"I miss my sister more than anybody, Uncle. But, we can't ignore why she did such a thing, take herself from her country and her family. She was running rampant, imprisoning citizens that didn't support her, didn't join the military. She began to rule with an iron fist, and once you go there, you don't come back. You lose the trust of your people and an unloved Empress would soon be an unloved corpse in the ground. Our family is a shell of what it once was. My little brother was executed by that bastard Laerolk, my oldest sister took a coward's way out, and my youngest sister would rather bury her nose in Adfranan dirt than come back and help her family heal the country."

"I don't think this conversation should continue." Said Daeron in a hushed tone.

"Agreed." Said Walther.

The motorcade entered the gates of the Schönbrünn Palace, traveling down the long strip of cement that led to the circular pool and the immaculate palace of the Germerians. Walther was quite impressed with the Palace. The Lussen Palace was near the size of this, but not nearly as flashy as the Schönbrünn. As the motorcade stopped in front of the steps, Daeron was the first to exit, wearing his traditional Imperial military uniform, adorning a blue sash to show his support for the Grand Duchy and his nephew. Walther wished he wouldn't wear the uniform, but some things could not be helped with his uncle. He allowed him this little victory to soothe his pride. Daeron stood to the side, holding the door open for the Grand Duke, who wore his Razorian royal uniform made for him by the greatest seamstresses in Lussendale. He exited the limo, waving to the multiple cameras and dignitaries that came to him.

Neroian Motorcade
5 Miles away from the Schönbrünn Palace, Aelstun, Germeria

It has seemed like Years since Maxim had last been to Aelstun, and the only thing he really noticed about the City was that his favorite Hot Dog joint had Expanded. Leaning back in his chair he let out a slight sigh. The last several years had been a living hell for him, and the rest of the world. His good friend, loyal from the Revolution Georgy Kholokov had been dishonorably discharged from the Military following his actions in the Battle of Galiloen Pass.

Looking ahead Maxim saw the two Motorcycles that escorted him and his guest, the newly elected Foreign Minister Liliya Fedorov. She wore a simple Suit with a dress skirt. Meanwhile Maxim had taken to wearing the Neroian General Uniform, as his suits were not yet back from the dry cleaners before he left. Behind him a SUV with Neroian Security Forces traveled, ready to act upon a moments notice. They would ultimately stay with the Motorcade after Maxim and Liliya had been dropped off successfully, but policy dictated they escort. The car he was in was a regular reinforced Limousine, air tight and all wheel drive.

Maxim was lost in thought, or so he appeared. Liliya noticed he was staring out the window often rather than go over the documents in his lap.

"Is everything alright Premier Maxim?" She asked before returning to the documents in her lap. Mostly just small tibits of information on the leaders of Kaldia, Novo Razcon, and Razoria.

"Yes Liliya. Just thinking of the events to come. The last time we attended such a meeting it ended on good relations with the former Razonica. Now I am to meet with the leader of what is left of the state."

Liliya nodded and without looking up said "Friedrich will be there, either stay with him or stay with me and act as though I am your date and it should instantly lighten the atmosphere of any talks."

Maxim turned his head to her. "Liliya, do you think the war was justified?" He spoke it so suddenly that it took her by surprise. Looking up she saw the actual concern within his eyes, as though he was haunted by what he had done. "Maxim." She spoke now as a friend, not a coworker. "A justified war is relative. To me, yes. We came to the aid of Germeria. To others, maybe not. The only truly just war I can think of was our Revolution. It did away with the corrupt Empire and issued in an era of Neroian power. Don't feel hard for the events that played out. You offered peace many times before the War even started. You rescued thousands from the Isles who now live in our new territory, which is seeing an increase in productivity and living conditions. All the people of the world want peace, here is where we make sure it stays."

Maxim gave her a light smile and nodded. "Thank you Liliya." Looking back out the window as the Motorcade arrived. "Well it looks we have arrived. Come on Liliya." He said as she put their documents away. The chauffeur opened the door and the two stepped out of the Limousine, waving at the various cameras recording and taking photos of them. "Just smile, wave, and come with me." Maxim said, taking the first steps up towards the Palace, with Liliya right next to him.

A conclusion to a story

Horatio looked at the suit laid out on the chair in front of him. It was picked out by his wife. She hoped he would wear it to the Germerian ball. Horatio was not a fan of the idea. The suit was fine. It was the ball he disdained. Horatio thought about the upcoming dance, "Of course the Germerians would waste money on such empty gestures." This thought had been rattling around in Horatio's mind since he'd been invited. He knew he couldn't snub the Germerians so he acquiesced. It took more effort to convince the Democratic Guard to buy into the idea. They were not open to letting him out after the assassination attempt on George. Horatio placed his suitcase in front of him when he began to pack. He was interrupted by a lone knock on his bedroom door. Horatio didn't even make it to the door before two Hulking men in suits with a suitcase rushed in. They were followed by members of his Democratic Guard detail, the Senate Chancellor, the Surgeon General and the ministers of Intelligence, Defense, Foreign Affairs, and the Economy. The two men placed the suitcase down on the Horatio's bed. The Surgeon General spoke first.

"I'm sorry to interrupt you but it is my duty to inform you that Imperial President George has passed away at 8:43 Pm NSST December 30th 2019." The Surgeon was solemn. The rest of the party shared in the dismay. Horatio himself was silent. It was as if he had the breath taken out of his lungs. One of the suitcase men stepped forward and presented the suitcase to Horatio.

"Sir, we're here to Swear you in. Please present your key." Horatio walked over to his nightstand, opened the drawer, and produced a small brass key. A similar key was given to every Imperial Vice President for when their Imperial President either dies, is removed, or resigns. Horatio placed the key into the lock on the suitcase and opened the case. Inside was a scroll, a laptop, a retinal scanner, a fingerprint scanner, and dossier. The suitcase's guard placed the case on the bed and again spoke up.

"Inside the contents of this case is the Constitution of the Direct Democratic Peoples Republic of New Scotland, the nuclear, chemical, biological, and radiological weapons launch order platform, a retinal scanner for the platform, a fingerprint scanner for the platform, and a folder containing the state will of former Imperial President George, the plans for his state funeral, the document for the appointment of your successor, plans for the commencement of the next election, and all of the government projects which have been classified for the eyes of the Imperial President only. You will take the Oath of Office then scan your retina for your right eye, then scan your fingerprint for your right thumb, then you and Senate Chancellor Angela Fremen will both sign the successor appointment form and she will be sworn in Sir."

Horatio was still in shock. His oldest friend had passed and he couldn't take a moment to grieve. Horatio was handed the constitution which he unfurled. He was then led through the Oath of Office. He couldn't even hear himself recite the oath. He subjected himself to scanning and signed off on his new successor's appointment. He turned to address the foreign minister, his foreign minister. When he spoke his words were broken and empty. "Can... can you inform the Germerians I will not be attending the ball. There will be a press conference in two hours." The minister nodded. The party left as quickly as they came. Horatio sat down on his bed, placed his head in his hands, and wept.

All was not quiet on the western front.

After more than a year of brutal and deadly combat, the citizens of the Raeh Republic believed that they would finally be able to enjoy their hard-fought and newly found freedom from the Razonican Empire and rebuild the country. Unfortunately for them and many more, they were wrong. Almost from the start, intrigue and political disagreements plagued the republic, as the scion of the Halbeck family, Octav, and his revolutionary-minded son Septimius bickered and plotted against one another to dictate the future of the new country. Less then a month after the end of the War of Two Alliances, as many called it, a civil war in the republic broke out, and only the intervention of overseas Germerian troops managed to quell it before the total dissolution of the state occurred. Feeling no other recourse was available to him, Septimius offered the reins of government to Germeria, and the Germerian army marched on the capitol of Raegaron in support of Septimius.

And that's where he, Otto von Nürnberg, came in. Appointed by the Kaiser himself, Otto was the military governor, or Kommissar of the newly christened Varumia until the stabilization and growth of the country was guaranteed. And what of Octav, some might ask? Well, he was found dead in his estate outside Raegaron shortly before the Kaiser announced his support of Septimius and his Populares faction. While he couldn't officially procure legitimate and objective evidence, Otto would stake his position on the interference of the special forces team Tarton in the Halbeck Patriarch's death.

Shuffling some papers on his desk, Otto began reviewing his report to the Kaiser as the plane made steady progress towards Aelstun. As a Germerian military official and Kommissar, one of his responsibilities was to prepare and present the annual budget of Varumia for the Kaiser, and any dissatisfaction at budget allocation could be amended at the Kaiser's leisure. But Otto didn't worry too much about this possibility, for Kaiser Friedrich was an agreeable and amenable man, and before his current posting Otto was an experienced logistics officer in the higher echelons of the GAC. Looking out his window, he could see the coastline of western Germeria roll by as they got closer to Aelstun. His musings were cut short by the sharp rap on his door.

"The pilot says we're less than half an hour from the capitol," said the intruder. Ah, there was the man who paradoxically both took the most offense at Otto's position but also ensured his appointment. Septimius Halbeck was still a handsome and refined young man, but even a cursory glance would show the toll that two back-to-back wars took on a leader. His face was weary and weathered by stress and fatigue, and a thin scar stretched from his left cheek to temple, a gift from his front line service in the Halbeck feud. His attire was the opposite of the man himself, with a charcoal colored suit and complementary blue tie, finished with dark black shoes. Inviting himself in, Septimius took a seat opposite from Otto.

"Good, we'll be able to make to Schönbrunn before a quarter till if we stick to the schedule," Otto replied after checked his watch.

"I wonder what the good Kaiser thinks about your secret police, Nürnberg. That is, if you even deigned to notify him at all," spoke Septimius, currently picking at his cuffs. Otto remained unfazed.

"Petty jabs and japes are unbecoming of you, Herr Speaker. I would of thought that your father had taught you some manners before his untimely demise," he replied smoothly.

"He did, but he also taught me how to deal with high aristocracy," replied Septimius in turn.

"I fear for your health Speaker, for I am obviously a military official, not a noble," Otto frowned.

"Oh? forgive me, your rule and bearing had me convinced that the past year had been a dream and Razonica still reigned over my land. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear you look like a Grand Duke Otto than a Kommissar," Septimius replied cheekily. Otto looked at him over the brim of his glasses, papers forgotten.

"Watch yourself, Septimius. We both serve the same ruler, and he can reverse your fortunes just as easily as he can enhance them. Or have you forgotten your own role in this situation?" Septimius scowled slightly, staring broodingly out the window and over the coastline.

"I didn't have much of a choice at time. Giving control to my father would guarantee that we'd be going from one monarch to another, and Germeria it's still a likely outcome. But this way I still have a chance to fight what I believe in." Otto could respect the man's enthusiasm, if nothing else. Privately, the Raeh republic was a mess, both politically and militarily, and if Septimius wished to return to that system then he'd have to be dealt with one or another. But that was a problem for another time.

"I understand your conviction, Speaker, I ask only that you remember where our loyalties lie," Otto replied. Septimius gave him a sardonic grin.

"How can I forget Herr Kommissar?"

"I see you two are at it again, like always. We should be landing in ten minutes." Jaesi Namoi was the implacable divider between the two of them, and more and more often acting as the middle man for when the two needed to cooperate. Her position as Speaker of the Bundesrat made her position higher up the ladder of bureaucracy than Septimius, but being one of his most ardent supporters in the republic gave her a lot of sway in the more democratic Reichstag, of which Septimius was the speaker.

"Jaesi."
"Frau Namoi."

The two men gave a glance at one another before directing their attention back to her.

"Septimius, we should prepare our own reports for the Kaiser. Now's the only time we have before the ball," she said, and the two left Otto alone in his makeshift office. With the distraction over, Otto looked over his budget one last time, ensuring every last detail was accurate and the budget detailed expenditures to the last penny. The Varumian problem would have to be resolved at some point, and Otto would not be the one on the losing side.

Of that he was sure.

Germania Airspace
December 31st, 6 PM

From the edge of germanian airspace, a small private jet flew by carrying a very important passenger, who would be attending the conference and ball being held at the Germanian Palace.

As the small jet passed the wondrous Germanian landscape and busy capital, it began descending onto the runway of the International Airport of Germania. The jet made a smooth touchdown and was taxied into the private hanger before coming to a stop, the side door opened up and became a set of stairs for those inside to walk down.

From the jet came two people, one being the Queen of Jord, Her Majesty Queen Freyja, and her personal bodyguard, Captain Vulcan, looking as serious as always and keeping a watchful eye out for any suspicious activity.

"Well, that was surely a nice flight, wasn't it Vulcan?" The Queen asked her bodyguard.

"Yes, the flight went well Your Majesty, we are right on schedule" Vulcan replied to the young queen.

"Oh come now Vulcan, no need to be so formal, didn't you enjoy the nice scenery of the ocean as we flew over it or the wondrous Germanian landscape? It truly was a wonderful sight."

"As you say, Your Majesty."

Freyja only pouted a bit at Vulcan. He could be such a prude at times and mainly stick to being formal all the time, not like when she was younger before she took the throne.

"But onto more pressing matters ma'am, how do you believe the talks will go now that the war is over with Raz now out of the picture? Do you hope to see if you could get some access to and for Jord's borders."

"No Vulcan, unlike some of the more power hungry politicians hoping to get resources, I believe we are fine as we are. Jord is a perfect size and is in no need of what we could already get from trade."

"I apologize for bringing it up ma'am."

"Now Vulcan, I don't blame you, you were only curious. And I admit I didn't address it to the council before we left. But if anything the only thing I am truly worried about is Kaladia."

"True," Vulcan agreed, "We were at war not too long ago, and that was when your mother was queen and then passed it down to you. But I'm sure whatever happens, we will come out okay, and if anything does come at us now or later we will take care of it."

Freyja gave her Vulcan a small smile. He was always so cool and calm, and always was there for her along with the Generals when she took the throne from her mother. She wouldn't know where she would be if it weren't for everyone.

Probably a very stressful woman obsessed with coffee and already have a few grey hairs.

But Vulcan was right, everything was going to be fine, and they had nothing to worry about.

The two walked to the end of the hanger, where they saw a white Limousine parked out front with the driver out next to the back door, holding it out for them.

"Thank you," The queen said as she got inside, followed by Vulcan who said nothing, but gave the driver a blank look.

The driver gently closed the door before getting into the driver's seat and making haste towards the palace where the ball was going to be held.

New Scottish Imperial Vice Presidential Residence
Edinburgh, New Scotland
January 5, 2019
11:00 am NSST

It was they day of the Presidential funeral and in an apartment three blocks away a team prepared.

"In an hour's time Horatio's body will depart from the capitol building. At approximately 12:26 the procession will take a right at 72nd st. at this intersection alpha team consisting of Ryan and Mulder will take up positions in apartment buildings opposite either side of the street. Bravo team, consisting of, O'Hara and Daniels will wait in the crowd. I will provide over watch and be in contact with command. Once Alpha team executes their mission I will head down to the street for rendezvous. Remember, we rendezvous at safe-house delta 6." The men nodded solemnly and began to gear up. The commander spoke up again, "Remember your bullet-proof vests and flak jackets. I want my team to make it out in one piece."

12:20 pm NSST

Special Agent Roberts waited on the roof looking through a range finder at the procession. A voice came out over his radio.

"Asset 7-7-Omega-5 this is Omega-1 you have updated rules of engagement. ROE 882-Charlie India Victor . Do you copy Omega-5?"

"Copy Omega-1, ROE 882-Charlie India Victor. Do we have go for mission?."

"Roger Omega-5 you have go. Be advised exfil has been relocated to the garage below you."

"Copy Omega-1 Out."

Roberts put down his radio, zipped up his BDU, and donned his mask. The procession began to round the corner. He switched the frequency on his radio.

"Ground asset team Alpha wait for my order to engage. We have updated ROE 882-Charlie India Victor."

The procession continued on the streets below. The Funeral car passed by, followed by Horatio's car, and the deceased's family. Then as the convoy containing the new Imperial VP passed by shots rang out from the apartment buildings on the intersection below. It took several seconds for the front of the procession to get word of the shooting and speed on ahead. Roberts radioed to his team again.

"Bravo you may proceed with your mission. I am moving to secure exfil."

As Roberts moved to the ground he heard automatic gunfire coming from the streets below. As he moved to the below-ground garage he saw people running to take shelter. Another wave of gunfire broke out. Roberts knew it was the guard detail and police. Roberts found the car waiting for him. He unlocked it and got inside. On the dashboard were two detonators. Roberts grabbed both detonators and pressed the button. Explosions rang out from the apartment and the street. Roberts started the car and raced it out of the garage and onto the street. He rolled down the window and shouted "Rhyddid i farwolaeth Tadbu i'r sgôr!" Roberts continued down the street. A voice came out over his radio.

"Thank you for your service Omega-5 you are a credit to the nation. We'll send your pay to your wife." From 20 miles away NSFIA Director Tom Harrison detonated the 100-pounds of c-4 and 10 gallons of napalm in Roberts's car.

Harrison put the detonator away, turned to face a photo of George, saluted, and promptly left.

Location: Over the Continent of Aldes

Time: Roughly 5:30 PM EST, New Year's Eve 2018

Among the darkening skies, stars like small white dots, clouds like strips of cotton, a jet can be heard flying through the air. It is a mid-sized vessel clad in the colors of the Novo Razconian banner. The Supreme Leader admits his flag is a copy of another country's flag, but his design team hasn't thought of a good enough flag for Novo Razcon yet.

Aboard the plane is the Supreme Leader himself, a man known to his people only as Jason the Wise. He is a mid-sized man with a head of copper-brown hair, a pair of rectangular spectacles, a black suit, black pants, a red tie, and dress shoes. Among his company is a squadron of a dozen bodyguards in all black, including sunglasses, and his wife, a girl named Marissa with shoulder-length brown hair, a formal red dress, and flats. In roughly 1/2 an hour, Jason's private plane will land in Aelstun, where the passengers will meet a motorcade composed of His Excellency's personal limousine and a squadron of four jet black military jeeps to escort them to Schönbrünn Palace, where the ball was taking place.

Initially, the leader was reluctant to go. While he was grateful for the invitation from Germeria's Holy Emperor Friederich, he never saw the point of these big lavish balls. However, he did understand that it was important to go to maintain good relations between the two countries. In addition, there were several other issues that plagued the man's mind; conquering the uncivilized regions of the continent, bringing the national economy to new heights, and Contamenesian... everything... among other things. It took a great deal of convincing, but Jason decided to go.

Still, on the plane, Jason was on his phone conversing with members of his government on several things until his wife peeked over his shoulder.

"So, still trying to micromanage things in the country?" Marissa snarked.

"Come on, you and I both saw what things were like back in... *shudder*... the theocracy. I barely trust anyone else to run things while I'm away," he responded. We do not speak of the theocracy before His Excellency Jason the Wise took power in the Empire of Novo Razcon. It was a nightmare, and we shall leave it at that.

"Baby, lighten up. You're always worrying about everything. This a chance to get away from it all for a bit and have a little fun," Marissa playfully nudged him.

With a warm smile, Jason told her she was right, quickly turned off his phone, and braced himself for the rest of the night.

Chancellery Residence
December 30th, 2018
"Your grace, I come as the Senate's consult insisting that the Chancellor of the Arkhon Federation not attend the Peace Ball. It violates our position as a neutral nation and it opens the gate for favoritism among other foreign nations. I strongly advise you to stay in the Federation this New Year for the betterment of our country and the world."

"Dear George, I admire your courage to come to me as the Senate's messenger, but the Senate is deeply misled. The Peace Ball presents no violation to our commitment, nor does it violate international policy. This is a Peace Ball, in which every respectable nation is invited. It would be utterly disrespectable if I did not attend the event. It is my duty as the head of state to attend such events, to represent the Federation and our economic empire. It is only to our benefit that I make an appearance. I cannot say that I haven't thought of the Senate's concerns; for they are reasonable, and I understand that Arkhonian enterprise comes first, and as the leader of such enterprise, I must equivocally advertise such enterprise. I plan on using this ball to confirm and begin new relationships as to increase our mobility. I fear that the world is only masking its problems with silly events like these. The truth of hardship will soon endure, and the worlds temporary mask will soon shatter."

"I do not deny the truth in your words, I only stand here today as a representative of a body which exists to caution your actions. You were elected for your international savvy, and we do not desire to stand in front of your will."

-"Your actions do not offend, and your consultation is always welcome."

"Thank you, your grace. I will proceed to inform the Senate of your decision."

"Thank you, Lord Kindsor, enjoy your holiday."

"You as well, Your Grace."

Aboard the Chancellery Golden Adveho traveling above the Orvosic Ocean heading to Germeria
December 31st, 2018
3 a.m.
"Your Grace, is this a good time to be briefed? We should be arriving in Germeria in about 6 hours."

"Yes, I do not think I will be getting much sleep tonight."

"Well then, where to begin? First, we must discuss our international ranking model. Currently, every nation but Kaladia and Contamenesia are ranked under 5. This means that the only nations that the Federation is concerned with include Kaladia and Contamenesia. We will reassess our rankings after the ball on the flight back home. For now, this is where we stand."

"Understood. I am a little concerned with Kaladia's ranking. We have not received any word from that nation for an extended amount of time."

"Yes, I believe that the Bank was wanting a partnership with Kaladia's government, but they never responded to our first inquiry."

"What a shame, new partners are always welcome."

"Well, maybe that could be a goal for this ball."

"Yes, it certainly could be. However, if I remember correctly, Jord and Kaladia have extremely tight relations."

"Yes, that is correct. Jord and Kaladia are not the friendliest nations toward each other. And, the Federation does have a better relationship with Jord than Kaladia at this moment. Jord is also a strong member of the bank, we cannot forget that."

"Yes, well, I do not want to risk our relationship with Jord. I do, however, want to see where Kaladia stands in their opinions about the Federation. Maybe we can lower their risk level if the Federation can confirm that they do not pose any negative intent upon our nation."

"I think that is most wise. Moving on, Germeria is a monarchy which always presents a host of problems for relations."

"Do you mean all of the ridiculous customs that I must follow to look respectable?"

"Yes, Your Grace, I do."

"Well in their defense, we have our own ridiculous customs other nations observe when they visit us."

"They cannot be as extensive as Germeria's Your Grace."

"No, but they are equally as annoying. Before we land, make sure that you remind me of all of their customs. For now, I would like a second attempt at sleeping. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Your Grace."

Onboard a N-72 Cargo plane in the skies 30 miles outside Novo Razcon City
Novo Razcon City, Novo Razcon
January 7, 2019
12:26 am NSST

Special Agent Bruce Ramis was Tadbuese. Actually he was technically Tadbuese. He had never been to Tadbu. His parents had fled the area to New Scotland during a previous Razonican crackdown over the former colony. His parents managed to fully assimilate into the Scottish culture although they never gave up their hatred for Razonica. This appeared to be a family trait leading Bruce to join the Marines in hopes to kill some "Raz bastards". He managed to join the elite "Sgadan Fulangach" Special Forces group. He saw combat while para-dropping into Viobo during the siege. His exemplarily performance brought him into the view of the NSFIA. Ramis became the first Tadbuese NSFIA agent a point of pride to him and his family.

Ramis waited onboard the plane. He always hated air-dropped missions. He felt out of his element. The thought that he was surrounded by plutonium did not help his comfort. As he neared the drop zone the co-pilot came up to the flight deck with a dossier.

The co-pilot shouted over the roar of the engines. "Asset Orange Lion I'm here to check your jump gear and present your contact briefing!"

Ramis submitted himself to the gear check. He was cleared to go. The Co-Pilot began the briefing.

"Asset Orange Lion, you will perform a HALO jump once over drop zone. Once you land you are to collect your chute and gear. Transport is waiting for you. You will move to Safe house Whiskey-Foxtrot-niner. Once there you will use the code phrase "Room Reservation" and present the insurance card found in your gear bag. Housekeeping will show you to the entrance to the safe house and provide the code phrase "Bed Bugs" signaling your permission to enter the safe house. Once in the safe house your first standing mission is to gather intelligence about the goings on in Razcon. Your Second standing mission is to contact the Cartel "Yimr's Bitches" located in the jungles outside of Razcon. Before you jump I am ordered to present you with these."

The co-pilot produced a glasses case and handed it to Ramis who quickly put it into his gear bag.

"This is the mark 2 Glass-piece. It has a camera, bone-conductive audio, microphone, and GPS tracker which is active to 20 meters. Use this to gather intelligence and communicate with your handler, Codenamed Red Tiger. place this in your gear bag and get ready to jump."

Ramis quickly stowed the glasses and got into jump position. He waited for what seemed like forever. Finally the red light above the door changed to green signaling the go-ahead. Ramis opened the door and jumped. He saw the plane pass overhead. Then the right propeller burst into flames. This was the ingenious plan to hide his decent. This "accident" would force the plane down in Razcon and would be blamed on a bird strike. The altitude gauge on his right wrist was counting down rapidly. He maneuvered himself over the landing zone. Finally the gauge began beeping and blinking red. Ramis pulled his chute. It caught air quickly pulling Ramis to a painful stop. He then began to drift slowly to the ground before finally touching down.

After cutting his chute Ramis began looking for his transport. What he found was a beaten-up, white, pickup truck. On the hood of the truck was a manila envelope. Bruce opened it up. Inside was a notecard with one word, "Gas". He opened the gas tank access port to find it replaced with an empty metal box. He stuffed his chute, jump suit, and the note inside. He threw his gear bag on the passenger seat. On the driver seat was a map. Ramis started the truck and proceeded to the destination marked on the map.

12:47 pm NSST

The safe house was not what Bruce had expected. Instead of it being a secret compound, like he had envisioned, it was a motel. A shitty Mega-11 motel at that. Bruce parked the truck, got out, and made his way to the front desk.

The Front desk was managed by a short, angry-looking, Razonican man. Ramis approached the desk.

"Excuse me sir but I have a room reservation."

Without looking from his work the clerk extended his hand to Bruce. "ID and Insurance card please."

Bruce looked produced the fake ID and Insurance card he had been given. The clerk looked it over before perking up.

"Welcome to the Mega-11, I'm the head House-keeper, let me show you to your room."

Ramis followed the "housekeeper" out to the rooms before stopping at room #176. Ramis was handed a key to the room. The mysterious "housekeeper" smiled at him then spoke up.

"I will have maintenance take care of your truck. Enjoy your stay and don't let the bed bugs bite." With that the "Housekeeper" departed. Ramis unlocked the door and entered the room. He knew standard safe house procedure. He closed and locked the door behind him, ensured the blinds were closed, walked over to a mirror hanging on the wall and placed his left thumb on the top right corner of the mirror. There was a loud thud behind him. He turned to see the bed was slightly ajar. Ramis walked over and lifted up the right side of the bed to find that it was hinged. He lifted it all the way up to find a ladder leading into a small, dark, room under his. He threw is gear bag down and proceeded down the ladder shutting the bed-door behind him. he heard it lock behind him.

Once at the bottom of the ladder he pulled his flashlight from his gear bag and began to search the room. In front of him there was a key-card slot and a set of doors. Ramis put his "insurance" card into the slot. The doors opened up in front of him. He stepped inside and found yet another fingerprint scanned disguised as a floor button. He pressed the button. The elevator doors closed and the elevator began to descend. After about a minute later the elevator came to a stop. The doors opened up. Waiting for him was a Scottish Agent.

"Welcome Orange Lion, we have some catching up to do!"

Grumhelwale,Plyric
Grumhelwale Capitol Building

Lucius is sitting at his main desk, looking over papers and documents, while trying to keep his mind off the recent events over Plyric. Bills after bills produced by the Plyrican Order, some of the bills were usually normal to Lucius, but there was one bill that made him do a double-take. It was signed by The Council from Claudiopolis, and it says, "By order of the Soon to be Council of Claudiopolis, we demand the Government of Plyric to recognize the Democratic Republic of Claudiopolis as a new nation and give us Pons to be our new capital and it's surrounding territory, we'll give you a 2 month period to allow you to accepts these demands, if you do not accepts these demands, worse actions will be around corner"- Signed by Ex-Admiral Romas of the Plyrican Navy.

Lucius reads the message in shock, "I can't believe my very eyes, this man here just betrayed My family, My government, and especially MY NATION!". Lucius slams the papers back on his desk and turns his chair around to face his window that overlooks the capital. Gallius enters the room in a rush, wondering what is going on, while holding an envelope. "Is something wrong brother? Did Clara forget something again?". Lucius still facing the window, slowly sighs and slowly turns his chair around with a defeated look on his face. "Our 'Faithful' Admiral just send a demand that a new nation must take up a portion of our territory that surrounds Pons, and expects us just to accept that they exist without war, or war will be declared by their new Council". Gallius looks at Lucius with shock, but proceeds to put the envelope on the desk, "This is a letter from Germeria about the ball, we still have time to attend if you want, I just wish I was here sooner before this happened. I'll have to notify Brutus about this and have the police arrest Romas for Treason and that anyone who supported this, will also be arrested.

Lucius looks at the envelope that was sent to him and Gallius for the Germerian Ball. "I'm afraid that we can't go to enjoy ourselves until this matter is dealt with, the only problem is that Romas might just have too much support for something like this. If this falls out of hand, there'll be a civil war and that's something we aren't just ready for". Gallius turns around and starts making towards the door, "I'll still notify Brutus and the rest of the Plyrican Order, we'll have this "New Nation" halted before its able to lift up from our nation". Gallius leaves the room, while Lucius turns back around to face the window, "In all these years, this was the least expected thing that has ever happened during this nation life, and its about to happen before I'm able to quell the unrest. This is going to be a long year for Plyric, a very long year".

Onboard a "Corporate-class" Corvette in the Pyik Sea
12 miles off of the Vacroaye coast, International Waters
January 15, 2019
12:05 am NSST

Captain Harold MacDougal had a history in secret naval operations. During the Razonican War he had the privilege of leading a squad of patrol boats to implant the special forces group "Sgadan Fulangach" on Tadbu prior to the invasion. After the invasion he led the same squad of patrol boats to scout the Razonican fleet prior to the battle of Jutland. This distinguished history made him a prime candidate for the South Vestila Company's recruitment campaign.

Harold had expected scouting the Tadbuese coast or defending convoys from attempted pirates. Instead he was standing out on deck of a corvette, at midnight, just outside of Vacroaye jurisdiction, waiting for a helicopter to finish fueling up. Beside him stood an HSVC representative. He turned to address the mysterious representative.

"So you never told me where we're going and who your contact is."

The representative brushed off the captain's question. "Captain you served in the war correct?" he questioned.

"Indeed I did." Harold replied.

"What do you know of the NSFIA's part in the war?"

Harold was irritated by the lack of a straight answer. "The provided intelligence. They also interrogated POWs and led spec-ops hit missions. So can I assume we're meeting some NSFIA spook in Vacroaye?"

The rep nodded. "Yes. Well... Actually we're meeting the Agent outside of Vacroaye. In the jungle ~100 miles outside of the Razcon-Vacroaye Border."

Harold was confused and a little bit irritated. "Ok, why the hell are we doing that?"

"The Agent I'm meeting with was apparently placed in Novo Razcon not too long ago. He's meeting with me to introduce me to a very prominent drug cartel. It seems that our... Employers have secured a very lucrative contract with them."

"So we're going to buy drugs from them and ship it through Vacroaye and re-sell it to someone?"

"Not exactly. We're going to document their production methods. Grab some seeds of different strains of the plant-based products. Then we're going to pay them for their "services" and begin production in Tadbu."

"So you think they'll let us compete with them? I don't have a lot of faith in this "plan" of yours."

"We won't compete with them. Just be ready to go on my command."

Harold was beginning to get fed-up with the extremely vague explanation by the representative. However, before he could get out a snarky response the Helicopter pilot signaled both men over and started the engines. As the helicopter lifted off Harold began to wish he had gotten assigned to a different ship.

Razma Motorcade
3 Miles from Schönbrünn Palace
December 31, 2018

Turina was not happy. For one she was nearly forced by the newly created Razma Council, a meeting of a representative from each Razma Tribe. She was wearing a dress, which she hated, and her nerves were high. Most of the people who would be at this ball have fought against her and her people during the war, including Maxim, whose Nation her state was a part of as a Dominion under it.

That was all part of the deal. She would be released from the Neroian Max Security Prison, and be sent to the Razma Tribes as the new Queen. In return, her nation would become a tributary to Nerodanus, under its Jurisdiction. Many of the Razma did not like it, but with little choice they accepted what they could. The old Raz palace in the area was refit for the Razma people, and their warriors forced to stand down as Neroian Troops became a regularity in many of the cities, with military bases strewn throughout the region. Unrest occured, naturally. However people have began to accept their situation, for all that is, it could be much worse.

The Car came to a stop as it entered into the main section of the palace. Looking out her eyes went wide at the sight of it, it was beautiful. Looking to the front enterance she saw what she hoped not to, Maxim. He stood by the front talking to Emperor Friedrich. Leaning back in her seat, she opted to wait until he went inside to go in afterwards.

Dec. 31st, 2018
7 p.m.
Schönbrunn Palace, Germeria

Friedrich stood at the entrance to the palace, servants flanking him at either side, with many more waiting at the end of the walkway to greet and welcome the many guests. As was customary for such an occasion, foreign heads of state or invited guests and their respective retinues would appear first and enter the palace, followed by any relatives of the Kaiser, and after them would be Germerian nobility. The last to arrive and appear at the event would be any foreign nobility not associated with the head of state or any private citizens not barred from entering.

The first to arrive was also the one Friedrich hoped would come the most, Grand Duke Walther Lusengard of Razoria. With the fall of Razonica and its splintering into hundreds of states, Razoria stood as the successor state with the most stable position in Aldes. Varumia with the current change in leadership and internal disputes would take months to stabilize, and even longer to repair the damage done during the war, and Novo Razcon was too much of a rogue factor to seriously consider. Razoria's monarchy represented an opportunity to forgive the hard feelings of the past and also secure an alliance with the tried and true method of strategic marriages. While there was always the chance that the Grand Duke might refuse, Friedrich was sure that all it would take to the convince the 'Duke of Peace' would be the right spin to the idea.

Grand Duke Walther exited his limousine, smiling and waving to the crowds of reporters with the ease of an imperial prince, his uncle Daeron exiting shortly after him. Friedrich moved towards the man to greet him, and a palpable quiet rose from crowd as the two men faced one another, fearing the ugliness of the past to rear its head. Friedrich didn't let it bother him, smoothly keeping his stride. He gave Walther a polite smile and held out his hand for a shake. There was a pause where no one moved, no one breathed, but the moment soon passed and the two men shook hands. The Grand Duke had a strong grasp, Friedrich admitted, and he soon moved past him towards the opened doors. His uncle Daeron nodded at him but move deftly past, not that Friedrich minded much. Despite the ball's intended purpose there was still too much bad blood to be completely forgiven between the two families.

Next to arrive was the Neroian Premier, Maxim Kusnetsov. Despite the still close friendship between the two leaders, public opinion of the Neroian leader and Nerodanus in general had declined sharply after the Turnip Winter of 2017, where a combination of Futrellian air raids, L'epee Dor terror attacks and damaged infrastructure lead to a near exhaustion of food reserves. With Neroian support being seemingly unable or unwilling to arrive, public support for the neighboring nation and their leader's friendship dropped to extremely low levels. As such, Friedrich greeted his friend, shaking hands and whispered an apology for such a short greeting before moving on.

Behind his vehicle stepped out a woman Friedrich only knew in passing. Turina, cousin to the previous empress Faenia and Grand Duke Walther. He extended the same polite handshake as he had the others, but when they shook hands he could feel the icy contempt she held for him. He left her to her business after that.

He went through the next few delegations, giving a warm welcome to the Arkhonian guests and pulling Nürnberg and his Varumian compatriots aside, telling him to speak with him later that night. He gave a polite welcome to the Jordian queen Elsa, reassuring her that Germeria would stand behind it's wartime allies so long as they did the same, though he had plans set up for the near future in case he actually went through with leaving the Entente. All that was missing was the Scottish delegation, and a mighty shame that was. Friedrich had hoped that the new Scottish president might change his mind and come after all, but it was understandable that they wouldn't come so soon after the death of a head of state.

Heading inside, Friedrich prepared to execute his plan.

December 31st, 2018
8:30 p.m.
Schönbrunn Palace, Germeria

To say the night was dreadfully boring would be an understatement for Victoria Louise von Aelstun, Archduchess of Teschen and cousin to Kaiser Friedrich. She had been advocate of peace since the start of the war with Razonica, an unpopular opinion to have so soon after the attacks at Amsterdamme, but one that was extremely beneficial when the chaos of the Razonican Collapse forced the former Emperor and now Grand Duke Walther to seek peace talks with the Entente. Using her close relationship to her cousin, she managed to get diplomats and officials who saw things more like her on the negotiation team.
t
I guess in a way, I'm the one who really ended war, she mused, idly swirling her drink. Truth be told, she didn't much enjoy the high aristocratic culture and personalities brought together by events like this. In Germeria, aristocracy means plots and conspiracies, and it was conspiracies orchestrated by those in the highest levels that killed her cousin Catlyn and made it possible for Friedrich to be abandoned in a foreign country for years on end. But her cousin had invited her personally, and you always helped family. Always.

Eyeing through the crowd, she spied Friedrich having a quiet conversation with a rather animated General Vorbeck. Sensing an excellent opportunity to relieve her boredom, she maneuvered her way through the throng of nobility and diplomats to the pair and caught the tail end of their conversation.

"...and with the Cities behind us, we can outmaneuver any opposition in the Diet. Assuming of course that they don't make any backroom deals of course," finished the general. The pair noticed her and turned towards her, Friedrich with a smile and the General with a polite nod.

"Victoria, how're you doing? I trust you're enjoying all the fine company of Germeria's best and brightest?" Friedrich asked, a hint of sarcasm lacing his voice.

"I'm doing as well as anyone can while surrounded by vipers and scoundrels, though the alcohol helps immensely. I hope you're managing to survive being away from your precious Countess?" she mentioned off-handily as she kept her face passive, pretending to check her nails. Any mention of her cousin's not-so-secret lover would get a rise out of him, and consequently, an end to her boredom. But unusually, Friedrich didn't seem to mind the question, even seemingly lighting up.

"Oh how I've missed that wit Victoria. And I do believe that I'm managing just fine; better than fine, actually. In fact, the General and I were just talking about a way that would put an end to that question for good. Do you know General Vorbeck?" He asked, motioning to the general.

"Not personally," she admitted. It would be a lie to say she didn't know of him, the majestic and legendary Germerian commander Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck. Originally only being a colonel attached to the Scottish Tadbuese Force, Vorbeck had produced a series of quick and vital victories over the Razonican colonial garrison, paving the way for the assault on Viobo, and was promoted to General and given his own expeditionary force of ten-thousand men. during the almost year-long conflict, Vorbeck had never once been defeated and had even turned many of the local populace who did not support the Black Lion rebels but also yearned for freedom from Razonica towards the Entente, and had even recruited a sizable force of local troops. The Germerian public and propagandists alike quickly seized any shred of good news in the aftermath of the Turnip Winter and had bestowed the nickname 'The Lion of Teras'. For his part, Vorbeck modestly accepted the title.

"Frau Victoria, it's a pleasure to meet one so close to our good Kaiser in person. I know that you had a role in pursuing peace with the Allied Coalition, for which I thank you on behalf of my soldiers, and my wife!" he joked, kissing her hand.

"General Vorbeck here approached me for my endorsement for his upcoming campaign in April for Reichskanzler. I believe that a successful campaign for the general here can lead to a very beneficial political scene for all involved," spoke Friedrich. Victoria looked at him in confusion, all pretenses of disinterest dropped.

"Reichskanzler? I don't remember that being a position in the Diet, let alone one up for election," she replied.

"Don't worrry, it'll become clear in a few months, cousin. Let's not talk about politics anymore for the night and move on to brighter subjects. I think I saw Grand Duke Walther by himself for the moment, why don't we go and entertain him? I know how much you admire his message of peace. General Vorbeck, it was nice to have such an...enlightening conversation with you," Friedrich said. Vorbeck took the quick dismissal in stride as he turned to find a new conversant.

"Of course Your Majesty, I believe I saw Marschall Manstein some time ago and need to catch up with him anyway," he returned politely. Friedrich then grabbed hold of Victoria's hand and nearly dragged her towards the Grand Duke, who was quietly sipping a drink by himself, with his uncle nearby. Victoria had to admit, the Grand Duke was quite a handsome man, making his public position of peace even more endearing. But she had no time to think of that as her cousin's uncharacteristically brash introduction began.

"My Grand Duke, I was hoping I could find you some time tonight so we can talk about the situation in Aldes. Oh, have you met my cousin yet?"

New Scottish War Room
Undisclosed, New Scotland
February 12, 2019
7:00 Pm NSST

It had been a very eventful day. Horatio had awoken this morning to hear the government of Scain had been over thrown. What followed was hours of debate amongst the great powers. Diplomatic channels had been flooded with updates of the Scainish condition, the Arkhonian Mobilization, and Razcon's declaration of war. It was relieving to see that the Germerians were able to bring some sense into the debate. But Scain had to get the last laugh against Arkhon. Horatio swore under his breath, cursing the Scainish arrogance. Horatio entered the war room to be greeted by his new Minister of Defense.

"Are they here yet?" Horatio asked.

"Yes they are sir. On line one." The Defense minister stepped aside and Horatio sat down and picked up the small red phone.

"Has the rest of the Iniative reached a decision?"

The Arkhonian delegate spoke for the body, "We have yes votes from Nerodanus, Novo Razcon, and the Federation. We have abstain from Futrellia, Renova, and Razoria. What of the Scottish vote?"

"We vote yes to the intervention." Horatio replied. "And what of the Germerians?"

The Neroian delegate spoke up, "We have been in contact with them. They will not intervene."

"Excellent. Now gentlemen I do beg your pardon but I believe it would be best for someone more qualified than me to present our strategy." Horatio passed the phone to the defense minister and picked up a second phone as to listen in.

"Good evening Ambassadors. I am General William Doneghy, the Minister of Defense here in New Scotland. Now we have been devising a plan for an invasion of the Scainish Islands ever since the Razonican War. We call it War Plan Pink. It consists of four phases: Phase one; A joint Arkhonian-Scottish Naval superiority campaign. We will lure the Scainish Pirates out of their ports using a small destroyer squadron. Once out in the open the larger ships will utilize their superior range to devastate the Pirates completely and utterly."

Doneghy paused for dramatic effect. "Phase two will be a shock and awe campaign. Arkhonian and New Scottish bombers and jets will launch from the Olympic Island and Tadbu respectively. Both Air wings will aim to firstly eliminate any enemy air resistance. Secondly the air wings will target defensive and offensive Scainish positions. Thirdly they will target political centers and critical infrastructure. After these targets are met the air wings will provide ground support for the main invasion force.

Phase three is the main invasion. A joint Neroian and Arkhonian force will land at 5 different beaches labeled Victory, Innocence, Freedom, Silver, and Glory. Arkhon will target Glory, Freedom, and Innocence. Nerodanus will target Victory and Silver. From there both forces will push to establish beachheads. From there they will link up then push to the Scainish capital complex, secure it, and then push outwards to secure their hold on the island. Meanwhile the Razconian army and Scottish marines will land at beaches Economy and Morality. The Razconians will push from Economy into the east island and aim to capture the provincial capital. The Scottish force moving from Morality and will serve to clean up any resistance on the island."

Doneghy waited for objections. There were none. "Phase four is the rebuilding stage. All Scainish Pirate government officials will be arrested and tried. The original Scainish government is to be captured. This will be done using a Scottish Special Forces group. The Arkhonian and Neroians will occupy the Large island to ensure stability. Razcon will occupy the Eastern Island. After this it is up to the Iniative to rebuild the government of Scain." I will give you until morning to respond. If we are all in agreement then the first phase will start at 4:00 PM NSST tomorrow."

Doneghy looked at Horatio, "Do you think they'll agree?"

Horatio laughed a little at this, "Razcon and Arkhon are out for blood and Nerodanus always aches for a chance to flex it's muscles. I suspect things will be fine."

Schönbrunn Palace, Germeria

The Grand Duke so far was enjoying the event. It had been a long time since he was out in the public eye, photographers preparing to plaster his image across multiple news sources in several countries. Sipping the expensive wine, he watched over the bustling room, his eyes darting from dignitary to dignitary, thinking of their reasons for being here. While Walther was enjoying the party, he was here for one reason: Peace. He represents the Razorian people and they expect results. His uncle was only ten feet away, speaking to a few foreign dignitaries.

His attention was drawn away from his Uncle as Kaiser Friedrich approached him, a young, beautiful woman in tow. She immediately caught his eye. Her warm skin color, her dark, flowing hair and piercing brown eyes, caught his attention, almost to a fault. As he was on official business, he pulled his eyes away and turned attention towards the Kaiser.

My Grand Duke, I was hoping I could find you some time tonight so we can talk about the situation in Aldes. Oh, have you met my cousin yet?"
He wasn't born yesterday. He knew how badly the Kaiser wanted to discuss some issues with him. Varumia was backed fully by Germeria, and Razoria had the backing of Futrellia. He was the bridge between two worlds, and him bringing his Cousin meant that he mean't to use her in some way to gain his attention.

"Ah, no, Your Majesty. This is your cousin? It truly is a pleasure to meet you." The Grand Duke said, grasping her hand gently and kissing it, a sign of respect between a Grand Duke and a beautiful woman.

Out side of the base of operations for the Aldes Cartel
Jungle, Aldes
January 15, 2019
12:05 am NSST[/b]

Bruce didn't even have time to unpack his gear at the safe house before he was given tasking. He had been ordered to leave Razcon and head south almost all the way to Vacroaye. He was to get their at night and meet up with a Cartel contact and some HSVC contractors. He had taken a truck and snuck past the Razconian border patrol. It had taken several days before he had made it to his staging area. He had set up camp and waited for a radio transmission from high command. It came through the morning he was supposed to begin his mission.

"Asset Lima-Sierra-Delta Prepare for tasking. Over"

Bruce pulled his key-slip out of his gear bag and picked up his radio. "Lima-Sierra-Delta ready for tasking. Over."

"Tasking in effect 1-7-3-9-1-12-999-0-2-4. Out"

Bruce translated the message "Move to camp on foot". He burned the message and key-slip, buried them ashes in the slit trench he had dug, and began to disassemble his makeshift camp. Half an hour later he left for the cartel camp. He arrived at the camp at dusk. He was met by a hulking Razonican guard.

The Guard called out at him. "Who the fuck are you?"

"I have a meeting with your boss. My name is Wilhelm Strausser." Bruce replied. The guard looked at him then picked up his radio.

"Hey Boss I got a Germ fuck here can I shoot 'em?" A voice came out over the radio.

"What's his name?" The guard held the radio up to Bruce's face.

"My name is Wilhelm Strausser. I'm supposed to meet someone named 'Missile'." The voice on the radio barked out orders to the guard.

"Bring him to me!" The guard grabbed Bruce by the arm and led him into the camp. All around were armed guards watching over groups of workers. Some were Hammering out meth, others mixing cocaine, and some preparing some unknown substance. Finally they arrived at a Vacroaye-styled villa. He was led inside. A bag was thrust over his head and he was led down a flight of stairs and around several twisting hallways before the guards removed the bag and threw him into a small concrete room. The guards locked the steel door behind him. Bruce looked around and noticed a security camera up on the roof. Bruce knew he had to play the waiting game. So he did. By his count it had been several hours before another guard came in, put the bag back on, led him back in the twisted hallways and up two flights of stairs. When they took the bag back off he was in an office. In the office were a man in a suit and tie, a man in naval camouflage, and behind a big oak desk sat a scarred man in a white suit. The scarred man spoke to the sailor and the man in the suit.

"Is he with you?" The suited man turned to Bruce.

"Strausser?” Bruce nodded his head. The man in the suit looked back at the scarred man. "Can we begin our negotiations now?"

Border of Plyric and Claudiopolis

At the borders of Plyric and Claudiopolis, both Brutus and Romas look upon each other. Both sides have armies facing each other in defensive positions, waiting for something to happen. Brutus grabs a megaphone and begins to speak in it.

"Admiral Romas, You and your men must surrender for the good of Plyric, if you do surrender your men will be treated with respect and will be correctly judged and no harsh punishment will happen. However, if you choose to defend this weak nation of yours, you must lack some common sense, because we all know you don't have a military, just some civilians with cheap guns". Romas stopped listening to Brutus halfway during the speech to tell his commander to get ready, since he knows Brutus is going to do the first shot of the war, since he's impatient.

"Sir, can we even hold back the Plyrican army? I don't think the engineers put down the land and anti-tank mines and that some of the soldiers are showing signs of fear" A CO says as he look upon the Plyrican with them outnumbering them 5:1.

"I trust General Kalian has most of our artillery ready by now, we just have to wait for Brutus make the first move, also I'm aware we may not have enough mines, but it'll take out most of their troops." Romas looks down at the war map that Kalian and Thumas has made for him, it shows that the artillery will be able to strike when Brutus moves the army over the borders.

Meanwhile, on the other side Brutus starts to grow impatient. He grabs for the megaphone and begins to screams into it.

"Romas, I know you are hearing this, I demand you to surrender, or you'll be met with a force to be reckoned with. Let's be reasonable here, your revolt is never going to get your beloved city Pons, since it belongs to Plyric and that for some reason that your council wants it so badly, you're will to die and have all these men die for a city that was built by New Scotland about 3 or 4 years ago. Do what's good for your men, I see the fear in their eyes, they don't want to die out here in the mud, Just SURRENDER!". Brutus puts down the Megaphone and walks towards the back line, signalling the soldiers to prepare to move forward. The Soldiers of Plyric begins to move forward towards the borderline.

The CO runs back to Romas while blowing his whistle to get the soldiers ready to the coming onslaught. Romas notices that Brutus's army is advance, right into the mines and into range of the artillery. Romas picks up the walkie and tells Kalian to ready the artillery and await further orders.

Brutus notices that Romas hasn't responded yet, so he signals his soldiers to fall back to the defensive line. "Is there a reason for that sir? The enemy doesn't seem to have much".

"I know how Romas works, he doesn't do the attacking himself, we waits for the perfect opportunity to strike, and that usually after someone that's not him does the first shot, I can wait a little longer, but I do recommend the helicopters to come in if he hasn't accepted the deal by then". The Plyrican army begins to pull back towards the defensive and to prepare for anything to happen.

Romas realizes that Brutus must've caught on and begins to panic. He signals for the CO and tries to think of a second plan.

"You needed me sir? I did just notice that your plan isn't going into place" Romas turns around and begins to show stress.

"I can't believe that Brutus caught on, I'll have to tell Kalian to move the artillery up a bit so they can strike down the Plyrican army, I'm tired of waiting for Brutus to go on with his threats" Romas walks over to the table and tells Kalian to move the artillery up.

During that ordeal a soldier on the Plyrican side decided it was time to show traitors some good ideas, he gets up and begins to charge towards the border in full sprint. Brutus realizes that soldier is moving towards the border and might compromise the plan and tells the sniper sitting next to him to gun down the soldiers. The Sniper prepare the shot, but as he get his sight over the running soldier, the soldiers steps on a land mine and explodes into red paste.

The explosion caught everyone attention and both sides starts to panic fire across the border. Romas and Brutus are now trying to tell the soldiers to stop firing, but to no avail, minutes later artillery starts to rain down on the border hitting both Claudian and Plyricans alike. Brutus starts to order the remaining soldiers and tells them to fall back to the secondary defensive line. Romas tells Kalian to stop firing the artillery and tell the CO to signal a retreat.

Poval Military Base, Plyric
Feb 15, 2019
Task Force 59

The orders of the soldiers stationed in Plyric were clear. Tension in the region had grown and the force was to ensure that if peace broke, they were to do what they could to ensure the peace returns quickly. For that, a small flotilla of ships, a squadron of aircraft, and Battalion of men were stationed at the Neroian operated Poval Military Base, on loan from Plyric and modernized by Nerodanus. These men were not enough to win a war, but Nerodanus could not spare the man power in the immediate months after the Razonican War and subsequent Scanish Crisis which caused an international retaliation against Pirates from the Scanish Isles and the rebuilding of the captured Razonican Lands and Razma.

Though now much of the manpower that had been freed up as peace returned and everyone settled down, the movement of more troops to the region had been slowed by a cold winter and need of transport ships elsewhre, such as the anti terrorist operations being conducted with Germeria. As a result the reinforcement of troops in Plyric had slowed to a few men on rotation and supplies, mostly delivered via air.

That was until the first shots rang out. If there was one thing the government was doing, it was watching closely at the tension of Plyric. The southern nation was a valuable ally to Nerodanus, holding strategic access between two major continents and a massive timber and ore supply within its many mountains. It was barely a few days later when the Kremlin contacted the base, issuing orders for recon to go out and take note of Rebel positions within Plyric.

The skies were clear that day. In the warm summer heat the base was full of life. Reconnaissance aircraft and Drones were taking off from the runway every ten minutes for about an hour. Three planes and three drones flew through the skies of Plyric and its rebel territory of Claudiopolis, taking photos and marking troop positions. Though the aircraft was armed, there were orders not to fire unless fired upon.

Meanwhile, back at the base, soldiers got into gear. Parachutes, sniper rifles, SAW's, and all sorts of weapons went to some, meanwhile others took on ghillie suits and silenced weapons. The plans were simple, wait to see where events lead then be ready to ship out. The units in ghillie suits were special operations reconnaissance, meant to stay behind enemy lines while the others were basic special forces. Heavy Hitters, if one would refer to them as that. They would go in loud and take strategic locations in the midst of battle to turn the tide. For now, they sat waiting. As did many others in this early moments of the Plyric Civil War.

Southwest Vestila Ocean aboard the NRIS Armageddon
2/15/19 at night

A dark curtain hung over the Vestila Ocean, dotted with few visible stars and a mist of clouds. A few small breezes were pushing up the dark blue waves. A thin white foam formed over the waters, only to be ripped apart like the Red Sea for Moses. In this scenario, the proverbial Moses was a titanic steel aircraft carrier visible only by ghastly orange lights from the deck of the craft. This was the NRIS Armageddon, capital ship of the Novo Razconian Imperial Navy. After taking power, His Excellency struggled to hasten the reconstruction of his wartorn slice of Razonica. While infrastructure was being repaired, he sincerely wished the military was larger. The fleet with the Armageddon was a 20-ship flotilla. 1 cruiser, 2 destroyers, 2 frigates, 2 corvettes, 2 submarines, 5 patrol boats, and 5 landing craft carrying 200 men each accompanied the flagship on the route to their destination.

On the bridge of the vessel, a sexagenarian with visible grayed hair and a short mustache grumbles and tightens his boa-like grasp on a map. As much as this man, Admiral Braxton, wished to kick some pirate rear-end, his superior instructed him against it. That issue had already been defined as resolved by Elvarya's international community, although both men seem to define the issue as "replaced" rather than solved. At the exact moment, the ship's communications officer picked up a message.

"ADMIRAL!" He shouted, "I've received a message from one of our surveillance craft. Shots have been fired at the border between Plyric and Claudiopolis. The Civil War has started."

"Inform the forces at once, Jenkins!" Braxton ordered, with a resolve to fight stirring within him.

"Yes, sir!" the communications officer responded, "Attention all military personnel, Plyric is in Civil War! Repeat, Plyric is in Civil War!"

In a matter of seconds, the message would get to the Supreme Leader. A screen back aboard the Armageddon flashed to life bearing the visage of the state personified.

"Admiral, I have received the message. At this rate, we are should make it to Claudiopolis within a matter of hours. I have already given the Air Marshall orders to send the 150 flyers on the mainland to Paval. You are to do the same with the 50 onboard the carrier as soon as the fleet is 1 hour away from Claudiopolis. In the meantime, our fleet will blockade the coastline. In the morning, we will bomb Pons, and our landing craft will race to the coast, where their forces will establish a beachhead. After this, you, the Air Marshall, and the General, and I have discussed various plans based on enemy activity. I will inform you which one to execute later." The head of state declared. While it may not be as cool as having a nation's leader command the ship into battle, it is more reasonable to leave the leader at home while his forces fight.

"As you order, my commander." Braxton stated, "Communications Officer Jenkins, inform the fleet and air force of the Leader's orders. We've got a war to win."

"I am glad to see your loyalty to me. Good luck, and may the odds ever be in your favor," His Excellency finished, signing off and preparing to speak to his masses tomorrow.

Plyrican War Room, Undisclosed Location
Image

An Immediate meeting was called into place after the event at the border, Gallius is unable to attend since he is out in Elvarya trying to gather support from allies to help out in the civil war. Lucius had made himself quite comfortable as the meeting got started, Brutus chose to remain standing so he can't be able to walk around. Joseph looking at the maps and monitors showing the security cameras around Plyric, to make sure no-one is going to try anything stupid.

"Alright, so I want to know what the hell happened at the border, and I want to know everything." Lucius says as he lean forward to loo at the map on the table.

"Well, apparently a soldier under my command decides to disobey orders and ran across the border and stepped on the land mine. So that caused the whole firefight, which may have started the civil war." Brutus said as he twiddles his thumbs. Lucius looks at Brutus and looks over at Joseph, who is still looking at the monitors.

"Joseph, what are you doing, there's no need to look at the cameras. Now come over here and join the meeting" Lucius said as he waves over Joseph.

"Alright, just give me a minute, I thought I saw something on one of the cameras." Joseph says as he tells another operator to keep an eye on the cameras.

"So what are we going to do about the situation that we have in front of us? I see that we may have caused the civil war ourselves, but I say we should watch where this goes, If Romas can get his Council to actually fight, from what it seems, they lack the manpower to fight us after about 5 or 6 months" Joseph says as he reaches the table.

"But that excludes the support that Claudiopolis might get, what if they have allies of their own, I know for sure New Scotland gave them a deal, just like they did to us, and It may not be the exact deal they can give them, It might be better or worse for them" Brutus exclaims as he finishes a lap around the table.

"We can't be sure about that, but however we can do this, as long we have all of our people give hope for this war to end, plus we an finally control this landmass fully if we win this war, since they claimed all of the southern territory once hold by an ally of ours" Lucius says as he leans back in the chair and props his feet on the table.

"I doubt that the Commonwealth will allow such increase in the territory, they might just make it empty again or might just give a little to Claudio, since they are a nation that can join the Commonwealth before us, and you know how the people will react if we join another alliance." Joseph says as he remembers the unrest that happened after the Razonican war, when the volunteers disappeared after the war.

"We'll have to wait and see, I'm pretty sure they'll do the right thing and allow us to claim some of the land that Claudio has under their control. I can say that the meeting is now over, I must return to do my paperwork while Gallius is away." Lucius says with a smile on his face.

Everyone gets up and beings to walk out the war room, but Joseph get stopped by an cam-operator who makes him look at one of the monitors, which was frozen of a frame of a person wearing a suspiciously looking coat walking towards the Capital Building in Grumhelwale.

"I want the security forces to arrest that man, he may or may not try to do something, I can't take any risk. Also, I want you to send some spies within the enemy territory to see whats going on in there." Joseph said to the cam-operator and walks out of the room.

Flying over Claudiopolis Territory

Jim was sitting, pressed against the cool metal of the Arkhonian aircraft as it soared through the Claudian sky. He was nervous, just like any man should be, but he was prepared. He was raised an Arkhonian, trained from birth to fight and conquer fear. He passed the exam early to start basic training as soon as possible. He wanted to be an Arkhonian Caretaker, a dream he had ever since he was a little boy. But, finally, after years of training and preparing, here he was. He was onboard an unmarked Arkhonian Caretaker Aircraft awaiting to descend upon Claudiopolis to begin his mission.

His mission was simple, land safely on Claudian Soil, collect provisions, arrive in the Capitol of Claudiopolis, set up equipment, blend in with the average population, prepare for several other Arkhonian Caretakers to arrive, begin extraction of Claudian intelligence, hire local criminals to execute work, extract.

Jim, along with several other Caretakers would jump tonight. Each had a different location, each had the same mission. Jim had trained with these men for the last year and they had grown together as brothers. Jim also knew that he would never see some of these people again. He felt no remorse, another Arkhonian skill, all he cared about was his merit. If he could pull off his mission he would be rewarded back home.

He looked across the plane to find himself meeting the gaze of his friend Dave. Jim could see the worry in Dave's eyes, for such a large man -
he has a soft soul.

Jim spoke up, "Hey man, you ready for this?

"I don't know dude, this all seemed easy when Command gave us our final briefs this morning."

"I know man, don't think about anything but your mission. Don't forget you are Arkhonian, just think about the glory that awaits us if we successfully complete our mission." Jim tried to sound optimistic to comfort Dave, but his attempt came out wrong. Jim honestly didn't care about how Dave felt, the only reason he asked was to gauge the level of preparation Dave had in comparison with himself.

Dave tried to continue the conversation but Jim turned away. He had to focus on his own mission. Jim closed his eyes - safely get to ground, get provisions, get to the capital, set up equipment, set up for other Caretakers, extract intelligence, hire criminals, complete work, extract. He repeated those words until the cabin loudspeaker came on,

"Alright, soldiers. We will be arriving at our jump site in less than two minutes, prepare for launch."

All at once, every man stood up and lined up the hallway that led to the door. The door began to open. Jim felt the wind whirl around the cabin - twisting, pulling, pushing. He stood firm and watched the clock.

5-4-3-2-1,

The Caretakers began to jump.

In the Scainish Council Chambers
"Councilmembers. I strongly urge you to consider declaring war on the nation of Plyric. If we invade Plyric, we can take some land we desperately need."

"Sure, but we dont have the military to do so."

"No, but we have a strong enough army, When the world is turned to the front between Plyric and Claudiopolis,we will take land from Plyric without them knowing. It will take them months before they can muster a good enough attack. By then we might have support from a stronger nation."

"I do not think that is going to work, but we must call a vote. All in favor?"

Two of the three councilmen raised their hands.

"The vote is final, Scain has declared war on the nation of Plyric. We will begin our first attack on Plyrics northern coasts.
