Breaking News: Mourro Requires Foreign Military Assistance

This is a default message sent out to all nations receiving incoming declarations of emergency. This message has been issued by the Purple Party Office in Saint Arthur's City.

For attention of all capable nations,

A recent outbreak of riots in Mourro's Rodron-Faynara region has broken out approximately forty-five minutes ago. The two major conflicting parties are a mountain-dwelling cannibalistic group of Rodron origin, and the Faynaran civilian populations living on the border of these two provinces. The Rodron group mentioned is said to be extremely revolutionist in nature (due to fierce territorial debate between the two provinces that has been occurring since the 16th century) and they are armed with stolen Bbalga Corpus (Mourro's police force) weaponry. They have been using the weaponry to stun horses (the traditional mode of transport of Faynarans and the Fayna tribe) and thus eat or attempt to eat the unsuspecting rider and seizing his (riders are usually male) possessions and territory. It has been estimated that the cannibal group numbers around 3,000, and at least 250 Faynarans have been confirmed murdered or missing. Immediate government action in Ssaum (Faynara's provincial capital) has been initiated, and it is estimated that around 1,200 horsemen, archers and martial arts students have been mobilised to fight against the Rodrons. They are assumed to have killed or taken hostage a total of 50-60 cannibals and have regained about 5% of stolen property.

The Mourron government's biggest fear is a repeat of the 16th century forest fires that almost completely annihilated the Faynaran Royal Forest and all living within. What is also urgent is that the Republic of Mourro has a very small military (numbering a mere 1,000 or so), as there has never been cause to use such force in Mourron history. Also, the Prime Minister is currently engaged in diplomatic efforts and cannot tend to the situation completely, as is the Defence Minister. We therefore require urgent military assistance from willing nations to assist in restoring order on the border region.


We request:-

*nations with non-lethal methods capable of sensibly diffusing riots
*nations with experience in rescue operations and retrieving hostages alive
*nations with experience in deep forest warfare and an environmental awareness (i.e. not using devices that can cause widespread fires)
*nations with cultural awareness who can respect that Faynara does not take kindly to heavy machinery and other rustic vehicles etc.
*nations willing to at least partly join the Faynarans on horseback to subdue the Rodron resistance
*nations with experience in dealing with captives and, if possible, cannibals

OOC: Since the Rodron province is was once a colonial state and still hangs onto its territory stolen from Faynara, it is a very aggressive attack and cannibalism is not the sole motive. They want to vent their anger on the Faynarans because they are the children of the colonialists and even though they have no responsibility in the taking of the territory in the 16th century, they are still treat with contempt by some Faynarans still bitter about colonial times. Also, the Faynarans are vegetarian so that wouldn't go down very well....

In reply to this part of your application: it will not be necessary to send as many as twenty million troops, however we think around 1-2,000 should suffice. This conflict is in a very concentrated area and does not involve even 5% of the total Mourron population. However if fires are started, millions could be affected, therefore we need dire assistance. Be aware that you will receive no arms fire, as arms are banned and not even used by the Morroun police. As stated in our default message, this is the first such time we have needed a serious military, however if your troops come across a very extreme situation which risks the life of hostages and cannot be solved in any other way, you may use firearms. Please also try to avoid using explosives and flash grenades near the Fayna fighters, since it can easily startle the horses they are riding. They are ideally to be used once your troops enter the more open Rodron territories.
