Craft Festival Review and other stories

On November 1st, Latvichka hosted a Craft Faire, welcoming craftsman of all nations and skills to the steppe to show off and sell their handcrafted goods. Delegations from Standevia, Panjal, Songjiang, and Great Tejas made appearences and were quite the hit. Standevia's knitted fabrics and clothing created by students were appreciated for showing the teaching oh such skills early on. Tejan saddles were not quite as popular as Latvichkan saddles, but the Whiskey presented was an instant hit. Panjali instruments also found a fond gathering by the nomads due to their portable nature. Songjiang made silks, as per usual, were loved by the people as well.

Latvichkan riders also treated visitors with examples of Horseback sports, free horse rides, and many other entertainment methods. The festival concluded with an appreciation speech and a meet and greet by the Khan himself and his newly wed wife. The two weeks were very positive in many ways.

In other news the increasing amount of light terrorist attacks in Latvichka is becoming increasingly worrisome, as the land has been relatively peaceful internally, and this type of civil unrest is certainly something the Khan has not prepared for. No non-terrorist casualties have occurred yet, but this might change as time goes on. Keep vigilant on the steppe, and either remove terrorist threats you come across or notify the nearest Tümen of your discovery.

The last stories are fairly simple. Training of the crewing and care of Elephants has begun with the people of Songjiang, after a agreement in the purchase of several Elephants from Panjal and McFreedomstan, and is supposedly going quite well. and idea of re-drawing the map of Latvichka to include the prominant tribes in different areas in Latvichka has been proposed, and civilians are prompted to report their ethnicity, tribe, and location to the government to aid in this endeavor.

Paul Philip IV gets married



Empress-Consort Maria and Leader-Emperor Paul Philip IV


Paul Philip IV married Maria, Princess of Südwestafrika, in a wedding ceremony that was attended by many world leaders.

The Leader-Emperor got engaged with the Princess several months ago. Maria is the daughter of King Friedrich III of Südwestafrika. The Union Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that, with the marriage, relations between the Nationalist Gold Union and Südwestafrika will improve.

Several leaders attended the wedding, such as the President of Standevia, the President of Tejas, and the Khan of Latvichka.

Many have criticized the timing of the wedding as the NGU is plunged into a war with Vanavoy. Paul Philip IV has stated that his goal is to end the war as quickly as possible in the NGU's favor.

Union government stages coup d'état in Rhodesia



Afrikaner Weermag mechanized vehicle in the streets of Salisbury


The Afrikaner Weermag, the local Afrikaner Free State military, likely under the orders of the Union government, has performed a coup d'état in the NGU protectorate of Rhodesia. Several tank divisions arrived in the city earlier today and surrounded the Presidential Palace, forcing the Rhodesian administration to escape.

Rhodesian President James Smith is reportedly missing from Salisbury. He has likely escaped the country.

The Union government has refused to clarify on the situation, but many pundits suspect that the Nationalist Gold Union seeked to remove the autonomy mandate in Rhodesia. The coup itself, if staged by the government, could be considered illegal and unconstitutional. Military Budget and Projects Report

As the year comes to close it is about time we announce our new projects for the New Year. 2037 will be our best year of expansion yet, we have a plan in the workings to have 2 Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers built and have an array of carrier born fighters to be produced from the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet to the F-35 Lightning II to the Dassault Rafale. We are shooting to produce 150 F/A-18 E/F Super Hornets, 25 F-35 Lightning II, and 200 Dassault Rafale fighter craft. This project, labeled Project Taipan, will be completed in late 2037- early 2038. The goal is to have the fighter aircraft completed by April of 2037 and to have a carrier completed by May or June of 2037. We will keep all staff updated with new developments.

The Pashtun Compromise

After the conclusion of the survey which was conducted by the NGU in the Pashtun region, I have been speaking and negotiating with Ubizytotskan officials. And I am proud to say, a compromise which prioritizes the people of Afghanistan and Balochistan before any political agenda.

The proposed solution is elegantly simple: the most prominently Panjali area of the contested region, Balochistan, will be changed into Panjali territory. All Pashtuns living in the northern regions which wish to become Panjali citizens will be offered transportation and housing within the Balochistan area, and vice-versa.

The Balochistan area, located within the greater Pakistani region.

The planned compromise and transition is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2037 (with the exception of transportation of Pashtun people.) I believe this compromise shows that the great people of both Ubizytotska and Panjal are able to put past squabbles and disagreements in the past, to realize the dream of a more peaceful future. I hope to see a more frequent attitude of compromise not only within the Panjali government, but within the international community. Today marks a historic event, and I hope this compromise may be used as a testament to the power of diplomacy in the future.

Filipino President, Vice President arrested by the military

After months of skirmishes between police and citizens, the Filipino military decided to intervene by seizing the capital and arresting President Costales for "violating the constitutional rights of the people," and Vice President Gilberto for ordering the assassination of PDF Captain Vũ Duy Tân. General Anak Gustamontes made it clear that he intended to step down and hand the reigns over to the Speaker of the House, Angelo Flores. Flores will be in the unfortunate position of inheriting a nation in chaos with over two years left in his term.

Department of Defense Activity Report December 8th, 2036. A new special forces unit has just been put into the forming process, named the 1st Ranger Regiment it will be a light Infantry unit, made up of 3 Battalions and will be tasked with direct action, special reconnaissance and guarding Tejano foreign embassies. They will go through training Phase 1 at a desolated base deep in the Pine Forests and the Gulf Coast of Eastern Tejas. Phase 1 will focus on marksmanship, combat tactics, and amphibious landings. Phase 2 will be in the Chihuahuan Desert and will be mostly combat drills, sims, and rappel training. Phase 1&2 collectively last 3 months. In order to secure the health of democracy in the region the Board of Directors met with acting President of the Philippines, Angelo Flores, and the Prime Minister of Indochina, Karang Chhay, and proposed a massive expansion of the PDF that would effectively take over the roles of their nation's standing armies. What resulted was the Pacific Powers League: An single army controlled in equal parts by all member states. The shared history, culture, language, and ideology between our nations made negotiation's for integration of our defense forces fairly smooth. While neither party expressed desire in joining the Confederacy, perhaps the PDF's performance will win over their support. Listed below are the compromises and duties that were established for PPL members: -Indonesian will be used as the lingua franca due to its simple nature. -A working knowledge (LLA 2+) of a Pacific language must be maintained by all personnel. A Pacific language is defined as: Javanese, Indonesian/Malay, Tok Pisin, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Hmong, Thai, Tagalog, or Mandarin. This will allow forces to communicate with local authorities outside of the lingua franca dominant provinces. -All members will elect 1 Marshal. The Marshal of each nation gets 1 vote on all administrative action proposed. It is of utmost importance that Rhodesia is a free state so she may be able to breathe the same free air we do. The Nationalist Gold Union's reign of imperialism must end HERE AND NOW!!! I, ambassador Billings, am willing to fight in the General Assembly for the rights of the now tattered nation and help return her people to their former glory. Africa, though not a very savory place, is and shall be free none the less. The reason that "Republican traitor Joseph Sulzbach, Murderer of Emporers" signed the repeal of Rhodesian autonomy is unclear to me. I request that a general assembly is held ASAP to discuss one of the greatest issues of our time. Some Nationalist Gold Union officials may be asking why Smith came to the UPO to seek asylum, well its because the NGU isn't really known for their hospitality and pretty much strike fear into all they rule. After a short call between leaders and a less than hour-long meeting between diplomats, the small island nation of Taprobana has accepted the Panjali Government's offer of military protection of the island.

"I don't really care one way or another, I just saw an opportunity for free stuff" said the micronation's leader, Maithripala Sirisena, on Friday. "I don't see any reason not to accept."

January 9, 2037 Official Union Government Statement on Rhodesia The news media has covered, as of late, new developments in Rhodesia. As many are aware, about a month ago several tanks under the command of the Afrikaner Weermag (the army of the Afrikaner Free State) entered the Rhodesian capital of Salisbury and forced out the sitting government. The autonomy mandate for Rhodesia was illegally signed under the rule of Joseph Sulzbach, who took control of the Nationalist Gold Union in an illegal coup. Many foreign governments are looking in on this situation and making statements, although they are nothing but uninformed. For instance, Garlfield Billings of the United Provinces of Oceania condemned the actions of the Weermag, saying that Joseph Sulzbach actually repealed the autonomy mandate. This is laughably false as Joseph Sulzbach has not held office for 4 years. The removal of the sitting Rhodesian government and the re-alignment of their political system comes with the increased standardization of NGU administrative divisions as per the newly drafted constitution. The now-deposed Rhodesian government, which was falsely elected under illegal pretenses, is going to be replaced by a new elected government that is more in line with the rest of the commonwealths of the Nationalist Gold Union. Rhodesia is being treated like nothing more than any other commonwealth in the NGU, as it should be. Ultimately, the debate boils down to precedence. Giving parts of the NGU more autonomy than others sets a bad precedent for the rest of the Union. All commonwealths should have equal participation in government and equal treatment by law. Before the mandate was repealed, Rhodesians were not allowed to vote in the Union elections or send representatives to the Senate or Union Council. Under the new sweeping political standardization, a Rhodesian citizen will have as much as a say in the Union government as a Keystoner, a Vancouverite, a New Englander, etc. The Nationalist Gold Union is, has been, and will be committed to the defense, welfare, and security of all commonwealths and provinces that make up the Union.
