It was 1926 when War broke out between the Kingdom of Waldflachen and the Republic of Azindhal. Azindhal, being only a quarter of the size of Waldflachen was expected to break under the sheer weight of the Kings Armies. Initially this was the case and the Azindhalians were forced the whole way to the Tana Mountain Range that sat almost halfway into the country. It was in the Tana Mountain Range that the tides of the war turned against the Waldflachens,
where the armor corps were destroyed or immobilized by thick slurs of mud or crushing avalanches set of with explosive charges. The Airforce couldn't keep the Infantry supplied and eventually the order to retreat was given, signaling the first tragedy of many in a long war.

For 4 years the Republic and Kingdom beat each other senseless. Hundreds of thousands of lives were lost to gain only a few miles of territory and a stalemate had long since been established. Azindhal was in ruins, it's dollars value collapsed to almost nothing and the nation was falling apart at the seams. Waldflachen faired little better and was still unable to gain an edge in the war, so came the White Peace of 1930. The Period from 1930-1940 would come to be known as the "Dark Years" among the lower classes.

The economy was in shambles and bare essentials became more scarce as the years dragged on. Farmers and factory workers were unable to get ahead as roving bands of thugs built huge extortion rings that the Police weren't strong enough to stamp out. The Value of the Waldflachen Mark had inflated drastically, where a loaf of bread could cost between 200,000 and 600,000 Marks. Hundreds of thousands were homeless, without adequate clothing for the freezing winters. Disease ran rampant due to the rising cost and relative scarcity of medicine. Communist and Liberal Party Memberships spiked drastically as people demanded change with an ever more audible voice.

In the city of Koch, 1940 a simple protest over a reduction in bread rations turned into a riot. Simultaneously other riots broke out across all of the Northern cities and for a brief period of two months chaos reigned. The government was overwhelmed and the lower classes were in control of huge swaths of territory. The King and his family had been captured just outside the Capital. Unanimously a government was formed with an election taking place only a month later. A Liberal and a Communist ran together under the slogan Unity Against Tyranny and won the Presidency and Vice Presidency. In the Southern cities the only free member of the immediate Royal Family was organizing the Governments forces against the rebellion. Prince Ivan having realized the danger of the Revolutionaries, has reached out to the governments of the world to intervene and restore the Monarchy to power and stabilize the country.

Grimstad: Grimstad is a larger town with a population of about 32,000 resident's. It's a major producer in Ore's along with Crops. It's also a key Manufacturing area in the country. Grimstad Furs are highly valued and the town is remarked for it's incredible beauty and wealth. It is one of the only two towns established by Waldflachen native's and traditional architecture are common throughout the city. It is surrounded by thick stone walls. Grimstad is the Capital of the Revolutionary government.

Salo: Salo is a small town with a population of around 15,000. Salo is a major producer in Iron and Silver ore, as it hug's the mountains to the west. The town is infested with criminals and crime is at an all time high, with most guards being corrupted by the many gangs that roam the streets. Currently the city is dealing with a growing Opium problem. Salo is one of the only two city's to be founded by the Waldflachens Natives, as such they are one of the few area's that reject Christianity as it's primary religion. The city is surrounded by crude wooden fortification's, one of which is being used to hold King Alexei the Third and his family.

Koch: Koch is a huge city with a population of around 1,500,000. It's a major trade hub, and it's port is widely used by traders who wish to get their goods inland to the smaller villages and towns. It's a key producer in lumber and used to be the capital of the Kingdom of Waldflachen. It was also the first city to be established along Waldflachen's mainland. It has immense symbolic value and is highly sought after by the Royalist government. Starvation is a growing problem in the city as food from the west is unable to reach the city due to the Royalist control over the Zarin Desert.

Sardilis: Sardilis is a huge city with a population of 950,000. It is the second city to be established on what is now Waldflachen, and since it's establishment has served as a major trading hub much like Koch. However it also has access to the huge forest to the south and always has an overabundance of lumber. The Sardilis fishing industry is a profitable and strong business to be in, and the Rebels have made full use of it to feed it's army. The city's population is widely split between Royalist and Rebel supporters, with the number of Rebel supporters being only slightly larger than the number of Royalist supporters.

Scaevola: Scaevola is a large city with a population of about 750,000 people. It's a major producer in Ore and the weakest of all the Rebel held city's. It overlooks the Scaevola plains, which produce a large portion of the nation's food. The city is highly split between Royalist and Rebel supporters, and it's constantly under threat of Royalist Incursions.

Sevso: Sevso is a huge city with a population of around 1,000,000 people. The city was first established by trader's crossing from Scaevola to Vaziri through the Zarin desert. Due to this major trade route the city has grown rich, even the poor enjoy a decent lifestyle in the city. Corruption is nearly nonexistent and the population is firmly Royalist.

Vaziri: Vaziri, much like Sevso was established by Zarin trader's. Initially it began as a simple fort, a place to resupply after crossing the harsh and unforgiving dunes of the Zarin desert. From there it grew as a major trade hub. It's prospered due to the valuable trade route and everyone in the city enjoys a comfortable lifestyle. It is the Capital of the Royalist Government.

Ozan: Ozan is a small city of around 650,000 people. It's a currently the only real port the Royalist government control's. As such it is highly valued and is the home to the remnant's of the Royal Waldflachen Navy. Ozan is a major producer in Sugar and Tobacco. Most of the population favors the Royalist government, as such it's currently under little threat from the Revolutionary's that do exist in it's walls.

Sahin: Sahin is a huge city with an impressive population of around 750,000 people. It is a major producer in Spices and Ore's. Along with these it also harvest Sugar and Fish from around the island. It was the first colony in the area, originally settled by German sailor's, it grew to have a thriving Asian population. The city is currently under Rebel control, however Royalist are also common around the city. Not only that but their are even a few distinct group's wishing for the Sahin Island to become independent of Waldflachen.

The Revolutionary Government of Waldflachen


The Revolution broke out during the Summer of 1940. The destroyed Waldflachen Economy's failure to provide even the most basic of necessities to the people, mixed with the liberalization of the populace caused mass protest in the time leading up to 1940. Following yet another reduction in rations there were riots throughout the North which quickly turned into an organized attack on Government forces. The Police and Military were either overwhelmed or defected as chaos rained. Within two months the smoke had cleared and the Monarchies presence in the North had fallen into shambles. Two influential men rose from among their respective groups to discuss a partnership against the Monarchy. Julian Shneider, a liberal War Hero and Viktor Aparina, a staunch Communist agreed to a United Front should they be elected in the Elections one month later. They won a majority with about 56.8% of the vote.

The Revolution lacks sophisticated weaponry, training and discipline. It is also ideologically split with fierce debate with many favoring an offensive strategy against the Monarchy over a defensive posture. It compensates with a strong leadership between it's Vice President and President. Domestically it has made radical changes to the social order, having abolished serfdom and allowing for promotion based on merit rather than birth. Educational reforms have been made and all youth in Rebel-Held Territory are expected to attend school at least three times a week. Child Labor has been repealed and minorities are allowed the freedom to organize. Freedom of Speech, Religion and the Right to Bear Arms have been written into the First Constitution.

Currently the Revolutionary Governments efforts have been towards Foreign Policy. The need to gather allies is a unanimous goal throughout.

The Royalist Government of Waldflachen


The Rightful Government of Waldflachen, it has ruled for over 300 years through the lives of 11 different Monarchs. Founded in 1628 by the German born Noble, Friedrich Meckler, it has maintained it's grip on power for the entirety of Waldflachens history, weathering dozens of prior revolts. It supports traditional institutions such as Serfdom, Capitalism, The Orthodox Church and Capital Punishment. The Royalist Government is an even mix of those who believe that the Monarch should be absolute and those who believe in the values of Constitutional Monarchy. They are unified by their mutual distrust of Socialism and Liberalism and believe that for the state to survive the Rebellion must be crushed.

Most of the Royal Family has been imprisoned by the Revolutionaries, this excludes the Crown Prince and a few distant relatives living oversees. The Royalist Military is notably better trained, armed and capable than the mobs of the North. It's weakness lies in the inconsistent salaries of many officers. Corruption is a problem, as is desertion and defection. The Crown Prince has reached out to nearby governments for support in putting down the Rebellion and restoring stability to the land.

President of the Revolutionary Government

Biography: Julian was born in the city of Koch on March 6, 1902 to a family of Bakers. He attended St. Charles Academy which specialized in public speaking and foreign language. He graduated at the top of his class and went on to win a local election to Mayor for the nearby town of Alcora in 1924 at the age of 22. His victory shocked the nation as no one so young had ever been given charge of a town before. His rivals noted his fiery composition and promises of immediate change as a key reason for his success. He held the post for two years and made notable changes to the towns tax code and requirements to vote in town elections. He also banned Child Labor which sparked fierce debate.

At the outbreak of war on the fourteenth of April, 1926 he resigned in order to serve in the nations military. He spent a month training before being assigned to lead a Company made up primarily of men from Alcora. His Company scored numerous early victories, including a breakthrough that led to the capture of a strategically important airfield. He and his forces were broken at the Battle of Owl Creek where they were charged with being the Rearguard following the retreat. His Company was destroyed with his men all being killed or captured by the enemy. He suffered severe injuries along his chest and back and narrowly survived the war as a P.O.W. When the War ended he returned to his home-city of Koch where he found employment at a smaller construction firm.

It was during the "Black Years" that he wrote his famous September Manifesto which directly blamed the Monarchy for the crippled Waldflachen economy. It outlined the steps needed to correct the countries course, including the limiting of the Monarchs power and the construction of a People's Legislature. He was fired after the immediate publishing and became a fugitive until the outbreak of the Revolution. He was a key figure in organizing the fall of Government Forces in the north. He was elected to the position of President and has taken an active stance in rebuilding. His policies include the redistribution of wealth and food to the people and the destruction of Royalist support. He is a signatory of the nations first Constitution and is leading from Grimstad in the far North.

Vice President of the Revolutionary Government

Biography: Victor was born on December 15th, 1899 on a rural farm just outside of Scaevola. He received no formal education and was illiterate until he was 17. He moved into the city when he was 16 to find work after a famine struck his families farm. He fell in with different groups including a socialistic group, where he found Marx and his Communist Manifesto. He officially joined the Communist Party of Waldflachen at the outbreak of War, immediately turning himself in to avoid the draft. He was released three years in and was immediately drafted "To make amends for his crimes". He played the role of a Priest despite not having any theological experience or training. When peace was signed he was released from service and returned to Waldflachen and the Communist Party.

During the "Dark Years" he cooperated with the Party to provide shelter, food and jobs to those in the cities. He eventually became an agitator and worked in bringing about the Revolution, urging on Socialist and Communist workers to overthrow the Nobility around Sardilis. When the Revolutionaries overtook the northern portion of the Governments forces he immediately ran for Election as the Vice President under Julian. This was to unite the Liberals and Socialist rebel factions against the Government. He's been active in recruiting and passing bills to increase trade with other countries and to redistribute supplies to the Rebel Forces.

Royalist Government of Waldflachen

King of Waldflachen


Alexei was born May 9th 1901 as the secondborn son of King Ivan ll. He attended the Koch University of Higher Education and finished at the top of his class. When he was 19 he married a the daughter of a prominent Noble. A child was conceived within a few months and a son was born the following year. His father survived an assassination attempt but was severely injured on the fifth of May, 1922, which left him bedridden for the remainder of his life. Alexei, having a wife and child as opposed to his brother whom had neither was selected as the heir to the throne. His father passed away in 1924 and a counsel of Nobles crowned Alexei as the new King.

One of his first acts was the banning of all socialist media within the country, including the Communist Manifesto. He banned the Communist Party and cracked down on subversive elements around the country. He invested huge sums of money into the Waldflachen Military and rebuilt infrastructure in and around Vaziri and the southern city's. He is widely credited with industrializing the country and secularizing it, separating the Orthodox Church from the State. His early reign is also notable in that he strengthened the powers of the Nobility, removing restrictions and enabling serfdom in some isolated communities.

His power peaked just prior to his declaration of war against the nation of Azindhal. He'd declared war on the fourteenth of April 1926 in response to an embargo against Waldflachen Lumber. He directly the war effort for about four years, initially having great success against the opposing armies. Eventually however the tide turned and a White Peace had to be signed. Hundreds of thousands of men were dead on both sides and even more had been injured in the fighting or were taken as Prisoners of War.

The War crippled the Nations economy and blame immediately fell on Alexei. His efforts to reduce inflation failed and essential resources became scare as the economic system took a downward spiral. By 1940 the situation had deteriorated to such a point that the lower classes rebelled and Alexei was captured while trying to escape Koch. He's endured a harsh imprisonment and only yearns for his freedom.

Heir to the Kingdom of Waldflachen

Ivan was born on December 29th 1920 to the then Prince of Waldflachen. As his father had before him he attended the Koch University of Higher Learning, graduating third in his class. A good portion of his life he oversaw the "Dark Years" and it's effects on the citizens of the Kingdom. He entered military service at the age of 18 and was immediately given command of a Company in Vaziri. A year later when the Revolt began and the North was thrown into Chaos he rallied the Southern Loyalist to his cause. Upon hearing of his fathers capture he assumed emergency powers given to him by a counsel of leading Nobility. Being only 19, he's yet to earn the full respect of the Loyalist in the North who are hesitant to fight for such a young boy. With the King imprisoned however, most recognize the need to unify under the young price.

No longer would the country be a monarchy of incompetent nobles but now ruled by one person, one set of laws. And rules to this day eversince then but his strictness has calmed down a bit, he allows freedom of speech, religon, etc and rules as if he lead a democracy.

It's to either serve his country or be a minor mark in history.

He was relocated residence to Grimstad to act as a mole against the Socialist revolutionaries. This is where his story begins.

Short Biography:

Alexander Herbert Jäger was born in New London, to the rich co-founder and owner of Auto Jäger, the top automotive company in Krenorus then, Josef Adolf Jäger in 1918. Alexander's mother, Isobel Janice Clarkson, would die from cancer when Alexander was 5-years-old. Mr. Jäger (Josef Adolf Jäger) would be a kind father to him. Alexander would study in The New London National Elementary, Middle, and High School, which would close down in 1950. He would go on to study at Adams University in 1936. He would finish his studies in 1938. In 1939, he would marry Mary McAdams. In 1940, he joined the 6th New London National Infantry Regiment and would be placed in Goldsman Company. He would be shipped off to Waldflacen a month later along with the rest of the 1st New London National Division.

Good morning,
I'd like to participate in this RP, with less of an expeditionary force, but by providing the Royalist Government with trading opportunities and goods of a wide variety. The objective is less ideological, as that is of little interest to the entities in the Free Lands working towards their goals in Waldflachen, but more economical.

Goals:

The Free Lands have little interest in whether or not the Royalist or Revolutionary Government win the civil war, but certain independent elements within it, most specifically the Merchant Guild of Leuda, is very interested in trading opportunities, as both war and peace are good for business. This trade includes, but is not limited to the various ores and foodstuffs produced in Waldflachen's Royalist-held territories, as well as the selling of weapons, equipment and other certain commodities produced in the Free Lands or elsewhere (we can go over the list later, but it will include food at special prices to combat the small famine in the west).
Additionally, there's the matter of Sahin, which the Guild would prefer as an independent entity due to its position and richness - preferably as an independent entity on good terms with the Guild.

Type of Support:

Economically, mostly, and maybe a slight bit militarily (the goods have to be transported somehow and cutting the sea lanes is a major concern for the Guild).
