Yarova Kicked out of League
By Sacha Hauer

Image

West Kerry, Brigantica: After an emergency session held by the General Council of the League of Free Nations, the United Federated Districts of Yarova has been officially kicked out of the League. The state, which was the most recent member to join the League, has experienced a rapid and hard turn away from international cooperation since its recent elections. This has culminated in the suspected unofficial deployment of Yarovan troops to and later full invasion of Aukalnia and Sartland. Prime Minister Lucius Silvanus, representing the Republic of Legantus, spoke after the decision on the steps of the General Council.

“The League, as with all international organizations, is based on the principle that the strength of many is greater than the strength of one. That cooperation, not conflict, leads to better outcomes for all. It is evident that Yarova has decided that it no longer values diplomacy or cooperation. If it wishes to put its trust in arms alone, it can face the consequences of that decision alone. The League of Free Nations officially revokes the membership of the United Federated Districts of Yarova. In addition, it officially withdraws from all trade agreements with that nation. It is the recommendation of the Economic and Social Division that all member states withdraw from any trade agreements with that state in anticipation of sanctions. The League officially condemns the Yarovan invasion of the United Republics of Aukalnia and Sartland, as it finds this attack to have begun with the illegal and undeclared deployment of troops into a sovereign state without insignia or a declaration of war. The League will not be party through tacit acknowledgement nor the treasure of our people to such a cowardly and deceitful act. The League will remain, as it always has, a beacon for those reaching for freedom and liberty. We have no use for tyrants cloaking themselves with these values while seeking only to increase their own power and stroke their own ego.”

The expulsion is the first in the history of the League, with the member states that left during the Small States Crisis having done so voluntarily. It is unknown as of now how this will affect League diplomacy moving forward, though many policy analysts expect shifts from Eastern Artemia to Avalonia or Kesh.

In addition to the expulsion of Yarova, the League has also announced economic sanctions on the member states of the AES for the invasion of Graznavia. These sanctions focus primarily on lumber, ore, refined metals, and electronics but does also include a number of smaller items. It is also reported that sanctions against Yarova were discussed, but as of writing have not been implemented.

BREAKING: AUKALNIA FACES SHOWDOWN WITH YAROVA IN SHVEKSHNA; ISHPUSHNYA IN FLAMES, YAROVAN AIR FORCE STRIKES AŽYTĖNAI

Image

Alexei Banin

AŽYTĖNAI — The Aukalnian capital of Ažytėnai was hit by the second wave of Yarovan airstrikes today, with the death toll estimated to be in the thousands, having decimated more than 30 per cent of the Boreal coast city. The attack came in retaliation to the Aukalnian bombing of VMFY Ishpushnya in the early hours of this morning, one of Yarova's two naval bases located in the country. As fighting rages on in 'Outer Shvekshna', the Federal Armed Forces have confirmed reports that large swathes of the southern region have been captured following Aukalnian retreat. President Gruzdev has called for Aukalnia and Sartland to surrender but President Svidrauskas has pleaded for PAC and League intervention "before it is too late".

President Tanas Gruzdev has demanded that Aukalnia and Sartland’s defences be defeated in a matter of two weeks, although some strategists within the Federal Armed Forces are reported to be sceptical of this, believing a timeline of four to six weeks would be more realistic. Already, the Federal Armed Forces have demonstrated that they intend to fully exploit the 650-kilometre frontier with Aukalnia and Sartland, and indeed, the flat terrain beyond the Peremorovkan Plains has offered a well-suited entry of more than 200 Yarovan tanks into the country. The geographical remoteness of ‘Outer Shvekshna’ from the remainder of the United Republics, as well as the airstrikes on infrastructure, has hindered Aukalnian determination to concentrate the deployment of troops to the south of the country and the Yaro-Aukalnian frontier. Although the country’s defence plan to prevent a mobile offensive northward by the Federal Armed Forces has not yet been abandoned, it is understood that the Yarovan advance has not been slowed down. Aukalnian forces already stationed in the southern region attempted a counter-attack and clashed with Yarovan troops yesterday near the south-western town of Kamajai (known as ‘Kamashk’ in Yarovan), however, being outflanked and under-resourced, the breakout attack has been described as a “dismal failure”. Much of the south of the United Republics, stretching as far west as the Aukalnian border with Cezakia, has been successfully captured by the Federal Armed Forces. At present, ‘Outer Shvekshna’ remains the epicentre of the fighting but the first series of airstrikes targeting the region did tremendous damage to the strength and morale of the Aukalnian forces. In the heavily shelled town of Grituny, where the killing of five Yarovan nationals forced tensions to the boiling point, Aukalnian and Yarovan forces have exchanged gunfire but Minister for National Security and Defence Mikhail Korablyov has said the Aukalnians are “fighting a losing battle” and predicts that the entirety of Shvekshna will be under Yarovan control by Sunday. Aukalnian President Džiugas Svidrauskas has pleaded to the collective membership of the Pan-Artemian Coalition (PAC) and League of Free Nations (LFN) to aid in a counter-offensive against Yarova; raising concerns that there may not be much more time, with the possibility of Lestykhol soon joining the war.

The Aukalnian government has identified Yarova’s five military installations as key targets, namely the army bases of Fort Strevininsk and Grobinsk, the air force base of Mikolishov, and the naval bases of Pitragrad and Ishpushnya. In the early hours of this morning, Ishpushnya, located near Ažytėnai, was exposed to an Aukalnian airstrike. It is believed that the casualties may be substantial, marking the first significant 'win' for Aukalnia and Sartland in this conflict. The United Armed Forces have encircled the remaining military bases in an effort to prevent advancing forces from the south reaching them in the coming days. In response, the Federal Air Force dispatched eight Tupolev Tu-160 warplanes from Mikolishov and launched its second air raid on the capital city of Ažytėnai. Reports have surfaced indicating that potentially more than 30 per cent of the urban area has been destroyed, including the city centre. Shchyokhov has issued a statement, signed by President Gruzdev, Vice President Kelerova and Minister of National Security and Defence Korablyov, calling for an “immediate cessation of air assaults and land-based offensives” on the part of Yarova if the Aukalnian government surrender and accept Shvekshna’s right to a democratic referendum, as well as the continuance of Yarovan military activity in the Boreal Ocean. Svidrauskas has said his country and government will never surrender to Yarovan aggression. Yarova Today will be keeping you updated as new developments unfold.

LESTYKHOL DECLARES WAR ON AUK & SART

Image

Kholdnareka, Lestykhol: Tensions are rife this morning as Ataman Pavel Simonenko announced the formal declaration of war against neighboring Aukalnia and Sartland. The nation had recently come under attack by Yarova due to conflicts over the autonomous Shvekshna region, to which Aukalnia responded by declaring war on them.

Simonenko justified such a declaration in a speech given at his compound in the capital earlier today. Since the election of Yarovan President Tanas Gruzdev, the two have been engaged in diplomatic discussion and negotiation. Simonenko commented this afternoon that "the people of Yarova have turned a new leaf under Gruzdev. A sense of pride and hope that those people had been starved of has returned." He went on to comment that Gruzdev's election "will usher a new era of peace and prosperity between our peoples." He claims that other members of the Allied Eastern States are supportive of the decision to join Gruzdev's war against Aukalnia and Sartland.

Although many details remain classified, the Department of Security will soon deploy troops into Aukalnia, and prepare the Coastal Defense Fleet to move out towards the highly-contested Aukalnian coast.

Updates are to follow shortly.

May 2nd, 2020, Oztov, North Veikaia.
Transcript of speech given by Gennadi Lagunov, Chairman of the Table of Commissars, on live television broadcast.

[Normal broadcasting is interrupted, the coat of arms of the Council Republic of Veikaia appears on a white background as the anthem starts playing. A female voice announces a temporary interruption to normal broadcasting due to an important announcement by the Veikan Communist Party in conjunction with the Congress of Councils and Table of Commissars. When the announcer finishes, the image fades away to Gennadi Lagunov, chairman of the Table of Commissars, in his office. His face remains stern as he grabs a sheet of paper and begins reading his speech.]

Comrades, brothers and sisters. Today world socialism finds itself under attack, yet again, by the vicious forces of right wing populism and outright fascism. The great nation of Aulkania and Sartland finds itself under siege by the combined forces of Yarova and Lestykhol, two nations that have proven themselves at every chance to be nothing more than a constant danger to not only the future of socialism and the workers' revolution but the entire world's peace and stability. Time and time again have we seen this complete disregard for the peace and sovereignty of the working people and stayed silent, but this will no longer be the case.

As appointed representative for the Veikan Communist Party, loyal member of the International Movement for Socialism, I extend our complete and unconditional support for the people of Aulkania and Sartlan, a support that shall see itself manifested in the coming days. No longer will this be allowed, no longer will we stand idle as we see ourselves cornered and persecuted. It's time we defend the revolution the martyrs of the red flag fought to bring. I also call on the rest of the world's nations, if they truly desire to protect peace, liberty and equality, to denounce this illegal act of aggression and put and end to it at once.

Our forces will stand at the ready to support the cause of international socialism, and we shall act in coordination with our allies and any other nations willing to stop this madness with us.

[When the chairman finishes his speech the image fades back to the prior image of the North Veikan coat of arms. The female voice announces the end of the message and says normal broadcasting will return soon.]

Realm Commissioner Róbert Saft addresses the people of Gardarike.

Image

Good afternoon Gardarike.

Like most of you, as well as our brother nations in Artemia, her Excellency's government is shocked by recent developments
in Eastern Artemia. For this former partner of ours to suddenly take a turn towards
thuggery and viciousness has for one thing been extremely disappointing and concerning, but these actions
alongside a re-started nuclear weapons program, makes Yarova's actions
all the more troubling. The purpose of these actions combined can only be to establish hegemony over
the region through threats and violence backed by weapons of massive and indiscriminate destruction.

The government cannot stand back and observe these events as they unfold without action. It cannot
stand and watch as our friends in the brave and peaceful country of Aukalnia and Sartland have their homes, lives and way of life
taken away from them.

For these reasons, the government ordered aircraft of the Realm Air Defence to conduct a number of air raids
against targets in Yarova early this morning, with the intention of disabling that country's nuclear weapons program.

To conduct the operation was not an easy decision for the government to make. We are well aware of Yarova's formidable
conventional military strength. But the government has concluded that despite the risks of striking now, the prospect of waiting for Yarova to
complete the re-development of its nuclear arsenal is one that is completely unacceptable due to the dire consequences for the security of our nation and our allies.

But the response cannot end there. We cannot allow the annexation of countries through violent means to go unchallenged and let rogue states gain strength and leverage to grow their underhanded influence even further.

The government therefore has a warning to give to the governments of Lesthykol and Yarova.
As this morning's raid demonstrates, no place in these countries is safe from the reach of our
military forces. We have the means and the will to strike you where it hurts. If your forces have not begun their withdrawal from areas under Aukalnian administration within 48 hours, the Gardic Realm Defence will continue the strikes.

Over the next few days, detailed information will be provided to you on how to respond to these events. Mental health support hotlines have been established for your counseling and the Gardic Realm Radio Service will advise you on how to prepare for, and how to respond to a potential military response by Yarova. This does not mean that war is bound to come, but there is a risk of this, and we must all be prepared for it.

The various Realm Defence services have been placed on an elevated level of alert and certain Army Reserve units may be called into action over the coming days. More details on these defence measures and how they may affect you will be given as the situation develops.
I am also pleased to announce that Gardarike does not stand alone. Over the coming days you may notice elements of Modrovian air defence forces moving about on our roads and our airfields. For their contribution to the defence of our beloved country, words won't suffice to get across our gratitude.

The coming days will try our patience, our nerves and our spirits. But I am confident in the abilities of the Gardic peoples to stand strong, to stick together, and to prevail.

Her Excellency's government thanks you for hearing these words.

Multiple NDGA Leaders Killed in Attempts to Escape South Kryzhelovschina

It has been recently reported that the 8th Special Parachute Brigade has conducted multiple operations that has resulted in the death of multiple heads of the Kryzhelovski terrorist organisation the People's Liberation Movement of Graznava and Astran, or NDGA, of which are responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. Krymov Svyatoslavovich, the de facto head of the NDGA, and Yesikov Pavlovich, his son and planned successor, were both killed in a raid on their compound outside Novoboresi. The 8th Special Parachute Brigade of the Legionary Guard successfully raided the compound around 1:00 am on May 1. A few days before, on April 29 Gvozden Borisov, the terrorist behind the Krevnigrad Metro Bombing, along with multiple other NDGA leadership were killed by Yarovan border police attempting to escape the country. With the NDGA crippled and Astran National Movement working in cooperation with the new government peace may hopefully be achieved in the region.

Seratofian Parliament Building in Azxara

Seratof bans economic activities with Yarova and Lestykhol, orders nationals to return
Karjani T., correspondent
3 May 2020
________________________________________________

Azxara, The Seratofian parliament held an extraordinary meeting on Saturday regarding the invasion of Aukalnia and Sartland by Yarovan and Kholak forces. A bill embargoing all economic activities with the two nations as well as deporting all Yarovan and Kholak nationals within Seratof as of 3 May 2020 was passed with a slim majority after three hours of debates and preliminary voting. As a result, all exports and imports with Yarova and Lestykhol would be stopped immediately effective Tuesday (5/V), and all Seratofian nationals in both countries would be asked to return immediately or exit the country before the fifth if returning is not possible. The move was seen as extreme and radical by some groups, but was deemed necessary by many to decide Seratof's position, and the PAC as a whole, regarding the invasion and overall situation.

The atrocities done by the invading forces in Shvekshna and contemporary events leading up to the invasion, such as the expulsion of Yarova from the League of Free Nations (LoFN) as well as a souring relationship with the rest of the Artemian continent as a whole, most notably with the PAC members, has led to parliament issuing an embargo to keep Seratofian interests and position clear regarding the situation in eastern Artemia.

A press conference held early in the morning this Sunday confirmed these bills. "Yesterday night, parliament had agreed on a new bill regarding Seratof's position towards Yarova and Lestykhol supported by around 60% of all MPs. The bill outlines a major embargo on both nations as the two have soured relations with us, especially Yarova, since President Gruzdev was sworn into office. The bill will become effective on Tuesday, the fifth of May. Thank you."

Several groups protested against this move, especially various noted businessmen, who see the embargo as a loss for Seratof, both politically and economically. "Yarova is a big nation with a big population, meaning a bigger market for our products. Embargoing such a nation would mean losing hundreds of millions of potential customers, which isn't good in the long run. An embargo would also mean that relations between Seratof and Yarova might not even return to pre-Gruzdev times, and negotiating treaties would be much, much harder."

BREAKING: BORISOPOL ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE BOMBED BY GARDIC PLANES

Image

Milo Khabenskyev

BORISOPOL — Gardic planes yesterday bombed and destroyed the United Federated Districts’ largest atomic research centre near Borisopol that would have enabled Yarova to manufacture nuclear weapons by the beginning of autumn, the Gardic government announced today. Gardarike has demanded that Yarova withdraw from Aukalnia and Sartland within the next 48 hours or there will be additional air raids. President Tanas Gruzdev has instructed the expulsion of all Gardic diplomatic staff as “Yarova’s unfaltering response to the Gardic ultimatum”. Accordingly, he has refused point-blank to desist from the military campaign in Aukalnia and Sartland and has said the Federal Air Force will be fully prepared next time.

Gardic Realm Commissioner Róbert Saft justified the action as having been essential to prevent the “rogue state of Yarova” from attacking Gardic cities and the cities of their allies with nuclear weapons. The official Gardic announcement of the air raid said that none of the foreign specialists known to have been working at the facility had been hurt. The number of Yarovan casualties was not, at that point, known. Shchyokhov has estimated that there have been more than 300 casualties and hundreds more injuries resulting from the raid. The Gardic pilots, all of whom returned safely, according to the announcement, were said to have seen secondary explosions, indicating the presence of a large quantity of inflammable or explosive material. There was nothing left of the research facility, they said. It has been claimed that the bombing was planned several weeks in advance, with the finalisation of Gruzdev’s executive order to redevelop nuclear weapons. Saft has demanded that the Federal Armed Forces withdraw from Aukalnian-administered territories within 48 hours of the attack on Borisopol. In an official statement, President Gruzdev has said:

THE SURKOV PALACE
Federal Office of the Press Secretary

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
3 MAY, 2020
Statement by the President

Yesterday, 2nd of May, 2020, the United Federated Districts was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the air forces of the Gardic Realm. The United Federated Districts was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Gardarike, was still in conversation with its government and its commissioner looking towards the maintenance of peace on our continent. I regret to tell you that many Yarovan lives have been lost. Among them, talented scientific research personnel.

It will be recorded that the distance of Borisopol from Gardarike makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. In cognisance of this, I ask of the Yarovan people to not be consumed by the great deception — this surprise offensive has no relationship to the current existence of war between our nation and Aukalnia and Sartland.

In my position as Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces, the Air Force and the Navy, I have directed that all measures will be taken for our defence in the coming days. The unconscionable ultimatum of which they have issued to us shall not be heeded. Always will our whole nation remember the character of the onslaught against us. There is no escaping from the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.

For this, they will be repaid many fold. We will start by the expulsion of all Gardic diplomatic staff located in the United Federated Districts. Rightfully, their dishonourable complicity will be punished. Commissioner Saft may regard this as Yarova's unfaltering response to the Gardic ultimatum. And the end is not yet. With confidence in our Federal Armed Forces, with the unbounding determination of we, the Yarovan people, we shall gain the inevitable triumph — so help us God.

# # #

Minister for National Security and Defence Mikhail Korablyov has said the Federal Armed Forces will be fully prepared for a potential second attack by the Gardic Realm, which will, according to him, trigger a formal declaration of war. Korablyov has also been quoted as controversially saying to a journalist with YTV: “May God have mercy on our foes, because we will not”. The minister has indicated that the threat of attack from other countries (rumoured to be Propyrgía and Modrovia) is “almost imminent” and that “Yarova will be ready”. Chancellor Edik Savasin of Borisopol has advised residents of the northern suburbs of the city to remain indoors until a comprehensive evacuation plan has been effected. People are only permitted to travel for essential reasons and are requested to wear a protective mask or ‘rag’ to protect from exposure to radiation contamination. A process of “thorough decontamination” is already underway in the cordoned-off 1-kilometre radius of the Atomic Research Centre.

Bundestag back under control again as govt. cuts travel, shipments to Yarova, Lestykhol

BY EVA TOCCOTI - ARA NACHRICHTEN

Alvastadt-Kap Adler Port

In a press conference on the 30th of April, Minister of the Economy Clemens Eisenstadt announced Alvak shipments of petroleum and other oil-based products like plastics headed for Yarova, and unusually, Lestykhol, would halt. A government statement shortly after by President Maier announced the halting of travel to Yarova and Lestykhol. In a statement issued by Herr Maier this morning, Alvak Nationals in Lestykhol and Yarova were ordered to return home if possible before the 16th of May.

Since the events of April 17th of this year, when Rovsnoska invaded Graznava and installed a provisional government in its place (now known as South Kryzhelovschina), events have snowballed drastically. Yarova was expelled from the LFN on the 30th of April, leading to Lestykhol burying the old hatchet with the country. The state, which was the most recent member to join the League, has experienced a rapid and hard turn away from international cooperation since the recent election of now-President Tanas Gruzdev. This has culminated in the suspected unofficial deployment of Yarovan troops to and later full invasion of Aukalnia and Sartland. This suspicion eventually turned into reality when those same troops marched into Shvekshna and later past the Aukalnian-Sartish border. Lestykhol declared war on Aukalnia and Sartland soon after, marching its troops into the long-disputed Mecislovas Panhandle.

As of the 3rd of May, bombs from either side have been dropped in the area known as Outer Shvekshna, Ishpushnya, and the Aukalnian-Sartish capital of Ažytėnai, and both Yarovan and Kholak troops have advanced into Aukalnian-Sartish territory. Gardic bombs were dropped on Yarova’s nuclear research centre, as revealed in a state broadcast soon after by the Gardic Realm Commissioner Róbert Saft.

PREMIER ADDRESSES NATION
Sapateiro comments for the First time on Artemian Situation

This Afternoon, Premier Sapateiro addressed the nation live from the steps of parliament.

The recent growing tensions in Artemia, and the recent revelations of the developments in Samotkhe, pressure has been mounting on the State Premier to formally outline the government's position and calm the nerves of citizens located across Eastern Artemia.

RPJ has coverage on RPJ1 and Notícia through this evening, and will be broadcasting the State Premier's online question and answer session live on Notícia+ and on rpj.ej this evening.

Premier Sapateiro will be on Manhã live tomorrow with Caio Braga from 08h00 on RPJ2 discussing the crisis, and discussing his governments intelligence on Samotkhe weapons testing.

RPJ has reproduced the State Premier's address for convenience:

Citizens, I am addressing you today, as the situation in Eastern Artemia has developed at such a pace that we must be clear our intentions.

We condemn acts of war outright. Jungastia is a nation committed to neutrality, we have made that commitment in the core of our state in our constitution.

As such I must condemn the actions of the Yarovan government. I can confirm that I have communicated this condemnation in the strongest language through official channels this morning.

The outrageous actions have not just caused the physical trauma to those who have lost lives, homes and livelihoods, but a trauma to the world. It is a trauma that needs healing, and to do so requires attendance, not more violence.

I have also been in contact with our friends in the region, as well as those whose actions concern us over the course of the past two days. We are in constant communications across the world with fellow nations in order to increase the chances of a positive outcome.

I have made the decision with cabinet and delegates from all parties across the Congress, to offer repatriation flights to all those who hold right of residence in Jungastia who wish to take advantage of them.

These flights will begin from tomorrow.

I have liaised at length with the board of Petrostado and the Minister for Energy, and at this stage the Petrostado facilities across Eastern Artemia will remain operational, with additional security measures being taken as a precaution. I will obviously not divulge those at this stage.

I have also, with the blessing of party leaders, and with a deeply heavy heart, instructed His Most Faithful Majesty that we will put the country onto Defence State 3. This is the highest we have ever taken the country to since the dark days of the Front era.

This means we have put the country onto the first stage of active defence.

I understand for those of you who are across the country listening or watching this afternoon, this may sound shocking.

It is.

But we see there is a need to ensure the country is ready to defend herself, her interests and her citizens.

I will make it clear, Jungastia will not be violating her long held policy of neutrality, but know we will defend that neutrality.

Myself, the Government and the entire congress do not do this lightly, but our duty to you, is to ensure you are safe, be you in Sátão, Santo André or in any one of our embassies or economic locations globally.

With our AnterCosmos partners, we have increased satellite monitoring of conflict zones, and will open discussions with those partners over the status of AnterNavi in the Eastern Artemia region.

To our citizens and residents who are in these conflict zones, know that we will protect you. Know that we will support you.

We remind those in conflict zones of their duty to protect non-combatants, and to those in those regions, follow advice where possible, stay safe, and the Jungastian consulates will be moving to 24/7 contact availability, both through conventional telephony, digital mediums, and satellite communications.

I understand the revelations will have shocked many of you, and I am sure you have many many questions.

This evening I will be live across social media, answering your questions. Tomorrow, I have asked delegates to do the same for those who they represent personally.

We will be open. We will stay true. We will keep you safe.

To those nations involved in they conflict, I offer you the most powerful thing.

An open door, My open door. It is my intentions to communicate this government's intention to offer ourselves and our facilities as a place for discussion to open as soon as is possible. We hold no requirements for setting up these talks, no preconditions save honesty.

I implore commanders and leaders to come and talk, to open dialogue and to begin a healing process. The sooner we act, the more lives we can save, and the more the trauma can be mended.

May Peace be delivered to you all.

Alvakalia to follow in PAC’s footsteps as conflict escalates in eastern Artemia, Herr Maier says

BY DENIS HÖNIGSBERG - ARA NACHRICHTEN

Federal President Otto Maier

As the Bundestag recovers from its recent internal conflicts, Alvakalia will take the side of the anti-Yaro-Kholak coalition, as announced by Federal President Otto Maier inside the Bundestag at noon today to a full room of concerned members of parliament and the press.

Most of the upper echelons of the government have been quiet lately, as bickering raged on in a chaotic Bundestag. However, tensions seem to have been relieved and paranoia calmed, as the announcement shows.

A transcript of the announcement given by Herr Maier has been put below.

“My fellow Alvaks, I am sure you all know the unfortunate circumstances that have been occurring in eastern Artemia.

A year of world-historical events is coming to an end. A year of great decisions is approaching. In this grave period, I speak to you, deputies of the Bundestag, as the representatives of the Alvak nation. In addition, the entire Alvak nation should also review what has happened and take note of the decisions required by the present and the future.

The great struggles we were taught in 1919, 1926, and 1949 have taught us increasingly that freedom of person and security of property anywhere in the world depend upon the security of the rights and obligations of liberty and justice everywhere in the world.

This war is a new kind of war. It is different from all other wars of the past, not only in its methods and weapons but also in its geography.

But we have not sought war. To the contrary, we have done as much as possible to avoid conflict. But I would forget my duty and my conscience if I were to do nothing in spite of the realization that a conflict had become unavoidable.

Because our allies, even the League (of Free Nations), regarded Yarova as the gravest danger not only for the Aukalnia and Sartland but for all of Artemia, we, the deputies of the Bundestag, decided, if possible, to give the order to halt shipments of essential products to Yarova and Lestykhol a few days before the outbreak of this conflict, as well as recall any Alvak expatriates in the area.

A truly impressive amount of authentic material is now available which confirms that a Yarovan attack was intended. We are also sure about when this attack was to take place.

In view of this danger, the extent of which we are perhaps only now truly aware, We can only thank the gods we worship that they enlightened us in time, and have given us all the strength to do what must be done. Thousands of Aukalnian and Sartish soldiers may thank them for their lives, and all of the world for its existence."

BREAKING: BARTNINKAI CAPTURED BY FEDERAL ARMED FORCES; AUKALNIAN AND SARTISH AIR FORCE TARGET YAROVAN MILITARY INSTALLATIONS

Image

Yaroslav Batrutdinov

BARTNINKAI — As Aukalnia and Sartland’s declaration of war on Yarova sends shock waves across the Artemian continent, the United Federated Districts has confirmed its capture of Bartninkai (outskirts of town pictured above), the last stronghold of the United Republics in the south. Meanwhile, in ‘Outer Shvekshna’, the fighting rages on but with Aukalnian defeat forecasted as inevitable in the towns of Grituny and Salantai. However, Aukalnian President Džiugas Svidrauskas has said Yarovan military activities at BSVY Grobinsk (Grobina) and VMFY Pitragrad, along with VMFY Ishpushnya, have been “greatly damaged and disrupted” after being succumbed to a bombing campaign by the Aukalnian and Sartish Air Force.

Across Aukalnia’s towns and villages, people gather in large numbers to offer monetary donations to the United Armed Forces. The older generations were not untouched by the country’s fight for independence long ago, with many recalling their own fathers giving their lives for the cause of Aukalnia and Sartland’s freedom from the Vojiskiy Empire. The Vojiskiy War was not the last conflict with their Yarovan neighbours, however. In Bartninkai over the past few days, Aukalnian soldiers fought among the falling walls, with a cold fury and some with a burning memory of that long-gone summer. The Missile Crisis which was brought on by Yarova in her last display of intervention in Aukalnia and Sartland. Remembering the lost lives of some 2,500 Aukalnians, indelible in the minds of those who were alive to witness the 1992 occupation. It was in this same town that gave its name to the divisive communist dictator Liudvikas Vainikonis’ strongly-worded ‘Bartninkai Ultimatum’ in March 1950. In response to the alleged shooting of three Aukalnian soldiers by Yarovan Land Forces, Vainikonis threatened military action if Yarova did not withdraw “forthwith” from all occupied territory in Aukalnia. Who could have predicted that seven decades on from the ultimatum, Bartninkai, home to Vainikonis’ favourite holiday residence, would have fallen at the hands of Yarovan forces once more? But on second thoughts, the two nations have rarely been at peace for a sustained period of time, with the extraordinary exception of the past twenty years. An important lesson may be learnt from this recent eruption of violence — some wounds never heal. Indeed, the Shvekshna question remains as polarising as it was in 1926, as does the relationship between the Yarovars and our Boreal neighbours, the Aukalnians and the Sarts.

At today’s press conference in the Surkov Palace’s Briefing Room, President Tanas Gruzdev berated the Pan-Artemian Coalition (PAC) states for their imposition of economic sanctions on Yarova, and said that the organisation’s “plutocrats are manoeuvring their puppets for all-out war on the East”. With a tone of indignation, he added: “Look no further than the cowardice and injustice evidenced by the Gardic Realm with its attack on our city of Borisopol. A diminished Yarova would suit the agenda of the liberal international order rather well”. Gruzdev insisted that the Federal Air Force are not purposefully targeting civilians in Aukalnia and Sartland but instead are focusing on locales of strategic, economic and commercial value. Noting the bombing of Ažytėnai’s Free Port and the avoidance of the city’s residential suburbs as examples. After prolonged demonstrations on the streets of countless Yarovan towns and cities, Gruzdev has come under mounting pressure to terminate the airstrikes on Aukalnia’s capital. President Svidrauskas has ordered widespread evacuations of women, children and the elderly from the northern Boreal coast, with many being relocated to Sartland’s south-west. Svidrauskas has claimed that more than 3,000 Aukalnian lives have already been lost since the fighting began a week ago, many of whom civilian non-combatants. Shchyokhov has totally refuted the estimations and Gruzdev again made calls for the Aukalnian government to accept Yarova’s right of claim over the Shvekshna region and its military presence in the Boreal Ocean. Today’s attacks on BSVY Grobinsk (Grobina) and VMFY Pitragrad have clearly exhibited their continued determination to resist Yarova’s airstrikes and advancing occupation. Speaking to a socialist news network, Svidrauskas has flatly ruled out sitting at a table with Gruzdev and Lestykhol’s Ataman Pavel Simonenko, arguing that all demands will be “binding and ineluctable”, that is to say Yarova’s aforementioned prerequisites as well as the Kholaks’ claim over the contested Mecislovas Panhandle. His message has been plain — “the war will go on”.

ELOÍSA MORAIS DA FONSECA- RPJ SANTO ANDRÉ
7 MAIO 2020

The Regional Government in the Santo André Capital Region - one of the two devolved administrations in the country - announced today that it will be making changes to the funding to regional rail and urban transit systems across it’s vast RedeUrbano, VIA and Metro networks, as well as its buses - commonly called Wawa - from the 1st June.

The overall network known as RedeSA, has been the subject of questions over numerous years with the transit authority only collecting around 12% of the 25.8billion₢ annual budget from fares in the 2019 financial year.

With enforcement of fares and the administration of the entire fare scheme costing upwards of 100million₢ in 2019, there has long been a call to make changes to the way the system is paid for by both those in the regional government and opposition parties.

Teresa Patrício de Gouveia (OV), Praefectus Urbi of the City, and Flávio Barbosa Câmara (PT), Regional Premier have both targeted reducing traffic on the cities crowded streets with billions poured into the extensions of numerous lines in the last decade, and the VIA tram network now encompassing over 80km of route with 102 stops across the city.

Today the two segments of regional government announced the plan to remove fares for all travel within the region under regional control. Initially the system will operate with free travel for all residents of the region, with the RFID chips in national ID cards providing access to the systemic lieu of the Vai Card. At certain stations system users will be able to use biometric data to access the networks as part of a Notional government trial to increase biometric usage. In time the system will look at extending free regional travel to all those with a national ID card, with a goal to remove all ticketing by 2025.

It is noted however that Ferrovias da Jungastia services operating between stops within the region will not be included unless they were already part of the Vai Network. The regional and City government is said to be working with FdJ to look at including more services.

Comment from the national government coalition has been positive, with State Premier Sapateiro commending the work of his colleagues in increasing environmentally friendly transport options for the country’s largest city. Opinions from the opposition have been much less positive, with a Partido Popular spokesman saying that “Instead of increasing spending on the public transit, regional government should be focussing on the massive losses at RedeSA and improving roadways for citizens to reduce the gridlock traffic, not taxing citizens to pay for vanity projects.”

It remains to be seen the effect on the regional budget, with a 1% income tax and 2% building tax increase being brought in from mid-July to help play for the new programme.

BREAKING: MINISTER KORABLYOV SAYS INVASION OF AŽYTĖNAI IS UNDERWAY

Image

Lydia Chuznikova

AŽYTĖNAI — From the headquarters of the Federal Armed Forces in Shchyokhov, Minister for National Security and Defence Mikhail Korablyov announced today that Yarovan and Kholak troops began landing on the Boreal coast of Aukalnia this morning, strongly supported by naval and air forces.

Aukalnia’s national radio ANRT said today that “combined Yarovan and Kholak landing operations against the Boreal coast from the sea and air are stretching over the entire area between Ažytėnai and Šakyna”. The broadcast declared sizeable amphibious operations are underway, with the landing of two Yarovan warships, both with a capacity of 13 main battle tanks and 300 personnel. Around 10,000 Yarovan paratroopers jumped from 12 Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft in proximity to the amphibious warships, purportedly deployed from VVSY Yekayartsk in Smirnova Oblast. The Federal Armed Forces’ naval offensive was joined by the Lestykhol Coastal Defence Fleet, numbering approximately 8,000 personnel. It is understood that the Federal Ministry for National Security and Defence have christened this invasion of the hinterland surrounding Aukalnia’s two sister cities ‘Operation Naslednitsa’ (‘Operation Heiress’). Meanwhile, the Federal Armed Forces are making advances in ‘Outer Shvekshna’, having mopped up the last columns of resistance in Grituny and Salantai over the past couple of days. Aukalnian troops have now retreated to Joniškėlis, where fighting continues. The Lestykhol National Defence Force have pushed into Shvekshna from the eastern frontier and are collaborating with the Federal Armed Forces there, something which Korablyov has said will “expedite the campaign two-fold”. Aukalnia and Sartland’s President Džiugas Svidrauskas, along with senior cabinet members, is reported to have fled to the town of Valka (Valkovsk) located in the Sartish interior. Since the Yarovan campaign in Aukalnia and Sartland began ten days ago, more than 250,000 Aukalnians, principally residents of Ažytėnai, Šakyna and settlements in Shvekshna, have evacuated to Sartland. The autonomous republic, situated in the north-west of the country, has not yet felt the brunt of the war but Shchyokhov has warned the Aukalnian government that “complacency will be [their] greatest nemesis”. Potentially an advance notice of a Ruchava invasion.

Aukalnian shock troops were hurled against the Yarovan-Kholak forces rushing ashore from landing craft, the ANRT broadcast said. By his own admission, the Yarovan Airborne Forces’ commander Colonel General Nikita Kipriyanov has said some landings were “poorly executed” and that many paratroopers were “badly mauled'' by Aukalnian defences. However, thus far, the military operation has proven, for the most part, to have been successful, given the weakened state of the Aukalnian military following a week of airstrikes on the capital and its outskirts. Field fortifications have been constructed mostly to the east of the city limits, in expectation of a westward land approach by the Kholaks from the Mecislovas Panhandle. The greatly diminished United Armed Forces are believed now to be relying on reinforcements by civilian volunteers and are also deeply entrenched and garrisoned at the city of Šakyna. President Svidrauskas has said Aukalnia and Sartland must be “protected at all costs”, despite the heavy casualties and civilian losses. In a suitably cutting retort, President Tanas Gruzdev has said: “if Svidrauskas genuinely cares about the survival of his country and people, he will surrender”. As the Yarovan and Kholak troops enter the northern areas of the city, the airstrikes have continued, however, now the assault is exclusively focused on the eastern and southern Aukalnian defences. Yarova Today will continue to provide updates on this developing situation.

Joint PAC air raid conducted against Yarovan airbase.

Image
Supersonic bomber of the Pan-Artemian Coalition takes off from Bolungaflói Naval Air Station in Northern Gardarike yesterday evening.

Defence Minister Sigmund Ormsleif reported today at that a joint task force of Gardic, Modrovian and Mero-Curgovinan aircraft conducted a large air raid against various targets in
Aukalnian/Yarovan border area just before 9 in the morning local time. Just over 60 aircraft equipped with precision stand-off missiles participated in the raid and struck radar and air defence facilities in the area before launching the brunt of the attack against the VVSY Mikolishov air base, which has been the primary air base used over the last few days to conduct air strikes against targets in Aukalnia, including the coastal city of Azytenai which is currently beseiged by joint Yarovan-Lestykhol forces.

"The Yarovan Air Force has played a key role in the military success of Yarovan and Lestykhol forces in their campaign, and has been responsible for thousands of civilian casualties in what can only be interpreted as
a cruel, indiscriminate attack on Aukalnian citizens in the hope of breaking their fighting spirit". The Defence Minister said.
"We hope that by conducting this strike, we can ease the pressure on our brave friends in Aukalnia and Sartland".

When asked about casualties, the minister said that every effort was made to avoid civilian casualties among the struck areas and believes the attack was likely to provide substantial relief to the beseiged forces in
Aukalnia, but added that some aircraft in the raid were lost.

"Regrettably not all the aircraft that participated in the raid have been accounted for, but we cannot ascertain their exact fate or number at this moment".

Shortly after the press conference, Cezak media outlets reported that a Gardic bomber had been forced to land after it was intercepted over Cezak airspace by fighter aircraft and that its crew had been taken into custody.

Defence minister Ormsleif added that this would not be the last military action conducted by the Gardic Realm and that the country was preparing its military forces to provide greater support to Aukalnia and Sartland.

"Withdraw your forces from Aukalnian administered areas or we will support Aukalnia and Sartland in fighting them. Keep your aircraft out of Aukalnian skies or we will take measures to keep them out. Send your ships back to port or we will send them to the bottom of the ocean.
Cease your inexcusable war of aggression. Those who sow the wind will reap the whirlwind."

Finally, Ormsleif re-iterated Gardarike's stance on nuclear weapons in Yarova.

"With its utter lack of concern for civilian casualties and willingness to induce them to facilitate land grabs, Yarova has only demonstrated to the world even more clearly that it cannot be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.
Gardarike will never indiscriminately kill civilians with the sole purpose of achieving geopolitical aims. We will never use nuclear weapons against countries that lack them, but we do not exclude any option when it comes to ensuring that Gardic and PAC citizens will be secure from attacks of that kind."

Today former State Premier Sérgio Miranda de Carvalho, now Foreign Affairs Minister and Defence Minister Teodoro Rebelo spoke at length to the press outlining the governments responses to the rapidly developing situation in Eastern Artemia.

The press conference this afternoon outlined the next stages of the plan alluded to by the State Premier on Monday. While we knew about many details, it was clear on Monday that there was more to come.

Mr de Carvalho outlined the repatriation flights had operated five times this week, transporting around a thousand citizens from the Yarova, and from the occupied territories. The Minister outlined plans to regrettably include certain areas of Gardarike in the repatriation flights, however he re-iterated normal flights were operating, and citizens are under no compulsion to return. The Ministry not yet including the anything but the core conflict zone in its prohibitions of travel.

The Minister also announced that he will be calling a special session of the AnterCosmos board to discuss the termination of AnterNavi services within the conflict zones.

The government had met with the Petrostado board, he said and a decision had been made on the situation of the oil and gas industry in the effected area. The decision is one that nobody quite expected at this stage, but that ties in with the government’s determination to getting all sides around the table for talks.

“As of Tuesday, all non-essential work a all Petrostado controlled sites across Yarova will cease. At this stage staff will remain either in their compounds or in a secured location. It is not our intention to continue operations as normal in the country at this stage. It is our intention to pause operations for an initial period of two weeks, with all extraction ceasing during this time.” The minister said.

It is understood by RPJ that limited processing and all refining will continue at this stage as the shutdown of refining operations could be terminal to the profitability of the operations.

The Minister urged all parties to cease hostilities pending open talks, saying that Jungastia does not stand idly by when international norms are violated.

Dr Rebelo, following on from his Foreign affairs counterpart, outlined the actions the government is taking to ensure the security of the nation and national interests.

He made it clear that the government had no intelligence to indicate any attacks on Jungastia, her territories or her economic interests.

The Government had been in contact with the Yarova leadership and had guarantees for the security of the economic interests of Jungastia in the country. The minister had also been in contact with the other parties to get the same guarantees.

The Defence Ministry, he said, has flown out, with notice being posted to all combatants, Jungastian Special Security Forces, to protect significant sites across the region, including the embassies in Ažytėnai, Holmgard, Shchyokhov and Kholdnareka, boosting the current presence by the State Security Agency.

Dr Rebelo also announced increased protection from the Armada Real to all Jungastian Merchant Marine vessels in the area, and the sailing of the Eurybian Fleet to ensure the security of the nations waters, following the Breziera protocols, closing both of Jungastian waters and airspace to military vessels and aircraft involved in conflict.

Both Ministers made clear that at no point will Jungastia be getting involved in this conflict, unless the requirements under both the Neutrality Law (1921) and the Neutrality Clause of the Constitution are met.

How this situation will play out, and how those involved in the conflict will take the news in this press conference is yet to be seen. The office of the State Premier also released a statement imploring all sides to take up his offer of mediation, and to sit around the table.

Following Questions from the press, Mr de Carvalho commented on the news from Sitsotskhli, saying that the government and State Premier will be in contact with their counterparts in Samotkhe and offering assistance where needed.

Separately His Most Faithful Majesty send a personal message of condolence to the government in Samotkhe this afternoon.

BREAKING: YAROVA DECLARES WAR ON GARDARIKE, GRUZDEV CALLS PAC ‘CANCEROUS’

Image

Yaroslav Batrutdinov

SHCHYOKHOV — In response to Gardarike's bombing of the VVSY Mikolishov air force base in Aukalnia, President Tanas Gruzdev has announced that Yarova has declared war. Reports have also come in that several airfields have been subject to Yarovan airstrikes in Sartland, the first display of combat in the region. Gruzdev's speech may be found below.

“Men and women of the United Federated Districts of Yarova,

An hour, marked by destiny, beats in the sky of our homeland. The time of irrevocable decisions. The declaration of war has already been handed over to the ambassador of the Gardic Realm, as he cleared his desk in Shchyokhov.

We take the field against this plutocratic and reactionary democracy, which on too numerous of occasions, has hindered our national security and often undermined the very existence of the Yarovan people.

And we will win, to finally give a long period of peace with justice to Yarova and to Eastern Artemia.

On the 6th of April, the people of Yarova rose up to reaffirm the unity of our Nation and the defence of its fundamental principles. By voting for the People of Yarova, you voted for the freedom of Yarova.

We, the Yarovan people, are deeply attached to our democracy, to our sovereignty, to our independence, to our values. We made a promise that we would reunite Shvekshna with the rest of the Nation.

Our purported allies in the League of Free Nations, in the adoption of misbegotten foreign policy, were incapable of rising to the challenge of assisting us in our efforts to execute a democratic referendum there.

Nor did the League rise to the challenge when Aukalnia and Sartland’s new generation of communists failed to resist their natural jingoistic tendencies and extrajudicially killed five of our own men. At that moment, what was initially a campaign for self-determination had transformed into a campaign for our national security.

On all levels that are possible for us, the Yarovan federal government will continue to protect our interests, our values, and the safety of our public. It now would seem that the greatest threat posed to the aforementioned is the West.

God knows that, when Borisopol and Mikolishov were attacked, it was freedom that was violated. The name of our beloved Nation rings out, always, like a call to be free!

Gardic lackeys of the cancerous PAC have chosen as their objective to put a stop to our national security campaign. Federalist lack of perception truly does border on idiocy.

On account of our campaign in Aukalnia and Sartland, we are closer to cultivating the conditions necessary for a democratic referendum in Shvekshna. The government of Džiugas Svidrauskas is shining with the light of a dead star!

The defence of our fundamental values will not be treated as a death penalty. Our sovereignty will not be worn down by the West and its savage globalisation which jeopardises our civilisation. Their reign is a reign where money is the tsar.

In all sincerity and without question, there are a great many obstacles on the horizon. Inexorable obstacles against which we must prepare.

Through us, Mother Yarova summons her children to her national flag and strikes for her defence. Yarovars! Run to arms, and show your tenacity, your courage, your value!”

'YAROVA HAS PROMISED BLOOD' DEFENCE MINISTER WALHAZIC SAYS AS RECAMAHTS MOBILIZES
Top military officials address nation as Windsmahts, Landsmahts, and Marina prepare for the future
12 May 202 6:35 pm | Peranthrun, Mero-Curgovina

Image
A Recamahts missile platform photographed on training exercise in 2018, today underway to Gardarike

PERANTHRUN - The Ministry of Defence has announced the immediate mobilization of the Recamahts following Yarovar President Gruzdev's declaration of war against Gardarike.

This comes amid controversy from previously unreported preparations of Govic air defence systems to secure PAC airspace.

Defence Minister Marias Walhazic all but confirmed offensive operations as he announced a significant military build-up aimed at Yarova.

As of May 12, all branches of the Recamahts will be mobilize. The Marina will be recalled from peacekeeping operations in the Ramay Sea while the Landsmahts gears up for its first combat deployment since the Veikan Civil War.

"Gardarike may have drawn a knife against Yarova," Walhazic said. "But President Gruzdev has responded by placing his sword on the peacemaker's table. Yarova has promised blood, and it is our duty as Artemians to uphold democracy in the east. We must stare this devil in the eye and tell her [Yarova] she may take no more."

Walhazic also confirmed that "hundreds of anti-air assets and the thousands of personnel to man and maintain them" had been preemptively prepared. Though the extent of the deployment remains secret, military equipment is being moved via train to Modrovia, according to Walhazic.

Long-range missiles and anti-aircraft artillery pieces are likely be destined destined for Gardic military bases and air corridors in eastern Gardarike to bolster defences against Yarova.

Officials also elaborated on the Windshmahts assets that were be delivered.

The fighters deployed the week of May 3 were part of the 18th Interceptor Squadron Wyrm under the command of Ct. Jany Walz. Meanwhile, the 21st Interceptor Squadron Norraubar—named after famed medieval raiders originating from what is now Gardarike— was deployed under Ct. Andru var Hirtgard's command.

Also announced was the planned withdrawal of all Govic diplomatic from Yarova. The move came in response to Yarova's forced expulsion of Gardic personnel.

Although arrangements will be made for Mero-Curgovina's diplomats to leave the country via civilian airlines, military channels have also been opened, according to Walhazic. An armed extraction of Govic diplomats with the military would only occur if Yarova detained Govic staff.

A formal statement from Prime Minister Euric Algiats will be released on Thursday. Additional comments from the office of the Casir will be provided immediately afterwards.

Walhazic ultimately emphasized Mero-Curgovina's role as peacekeepers despite its offensive posturing and compared the crisis to the last large conflict on the Artemian continent.

"It is with no levity that we choose to mobilize," Walhazic said. "What began as a troubled situation in Aukalnia and Sartland has only escalated into a conflagration at a scale last seen in the Veikaias."

"As the Recamahts did then, we will operate as peacekeepers only. There must be no ulterior political motive beyond peace, no gain beyond understanding, lest we become what we seek to defeat in Yarova."

The entirety of Defence Minister Walhazic's 15 minute address can be accessed through Commonwealth Daily online streaming. Transcripts can be found from the Ministry of Defence public archives at mcop.cmc

Protests After Industrial Accident

Image

Fanis Nicolotis

April 29, 18:22:34 | Abea

Last week a 29-year-old man was killed after a blast furnace was activated with him inside. This death is only one of dozens of injuries and fatalities across Helinika after an Imperial Order to increase production in certain factories went into effect. The Order to increase production forced factories to operate at unsafe speeds to meet production quotas creating even more dangerous in an already hazardous occupation. Today, thousands of factory workers wearing their Hi-Vis vests abandoned their jobs and turned out into the streets demanding improved safety measures effectively halting production in factories across Helinika. No official government response has been released yet but it is speculated that the Civil Guard will be deployed to maintain the peace and protect the people.

OPBN - The new government set about begging work on what it calls phase one, of the "New Dawn" plan. The plan, is meant to be a series of large public works and infrastructure construction projects with the goals of increasing the quality of life for those citizens who inhabit the poorer, often poverty stricken regions of the interior. The government has announced that in total upon completion it expects to spend 1 trillion Denarius, but projects the plan will allow for accelerated economic growth exceeding 10% total, and more importantly a narrowing of the gap between wealthier coastal regions and the generally poorer interior.

The plan has thus far been broken up into six different phases, each phase covering a specific segmentum, and having an outlined number of projects that will be completed. Once all projects in phase one have been completed in one region, the phase will shift to another segmentum, while the previous begins the process of undertaking the next phase projects. This will result in a domino completion effect instead of causing areas to alternate between conducting projects and stagnation. Each phase will cover a wide variety of public works projects ranging from the construction of road and railways, sewage and water treatment facilities, schools, hospitals and other medical facilities, factories, an electric grid that will include the construction of both hydroelectric damns, and wind turbines. The project will also see the construction or expansion of numerous air fields, and harbor facilities.

The government has also announced they are in negotiations with several foreign firms and governments to secure international investment in some of the projects, particularly in the construction and operation of key factories, or other manufacturing facilities ranging from pharmaceuticals, chemical production facilities, and arms manufacturing facilities.

The first phase of the plan deals primarily with the construction, and upgrading of road and rail networks, and expansion of the electric grid, and other basic quality of life improvements such as water and sewage treatment facilities. The first phase will also address the lack of medical care present in the interior by establishing medical facilities to be operated by the imperial army, where mass vaccination protocols and other medical assistance can begin being rendered.

The newly formed Imperial Development and Construction corps will oversee all of the projects, and provide logistics and heavy equipment operators in addition to other necessary skilled job while the bulk of the labor is expected to be carried out by the people of the interior itself, thus providing steady employment for many thousands of people. In addition to use of labor the IDC will provide trade school training and other vocational skills training to the laborers insuring they are suitable for employment once construction is finished.

Environmental concerns have also been addressed as part of the plan, with farmland conversion to forest and grassland being a primary focus and the construction of extensive irrigation systems to prevent flooding and water contamination. In some areas farmland will be repurposed and farmers receiving training and equipment on modern agricultural processes. The goal being to provide not only larger more efficient crop yields but also ensure soil quality remains at adequate levels.

The first phase of the new dawn plan will begin in the Mesis segmentum, along the Mesalia river

OPBN - The newly elected Archon, Azkaellon Thalysios announced that his government will introduce a proposal in the Senatorum, to change the exclusive ECOSEAS-aligned status of the country, and to request membership into the League of Free Nations. The proposal is also aimed at furthering of new diplomatic initiatives to draw the Imperium out of its traditional Avalonia or isolationist stance and begin larger diplomatic interaction on a global scale.

Thalysios' government was quick to reiterate that the new government remained committed to its previous ECOSEAS agreements, and stated that these agreements and alliances remain a top priority for the Imperium, and its new government.

Some worry that the attempts to join the League will dramatically sour relations with Koryeo, a long time friend of the Imperium. Thalysios downplayed these concerns stating "The long history of cooperation, friendship, and good faith between the Imperium and the peoples and government of Koryeo will not be so easily undone. We will continue to work closely with and continue to foster amicable relations between our two states, regardless of our ideological differences."

The petition to join the League is not without merit, such a move would likely prove beneficial for the Imperium, opening up the Imperium to a number of global markets and foreign investment, likewise the League could see economic benefit from the Imperium's admittance into the League as well. Many believe the League is currently attempting to save face after being left reeling following Yarova's election of Shaposhnikov Gruzdev, ultimately leading to the outbreak of hostilities in eastern Artemia and resulting in Yarova's abrupt dismissal from the League.

Wether or not the League will hear the Imperium's petition remains to be seen but insiders believe there is little chance the Imperium will fail to gain admittance.

OPBN - Following confirmation of earlier reports of Modrovian airstrikes being carried out against native populations within the area of government control the Imperial army, launched a retaliatory strike primarily with rocket and heavy artillery against government controlled border checkpoints along the ECOSEAS controlled section of the Santa Magdalena peacekeeping cordon in the early morning hours the barrage lasting less than ten minutes.

The strikes appear limited and scope and narrowly tailored, targeting only the border checkpoint positions themselves, and not being accompanied by any additional air or ground operations.

The Imperial army, under newly appointed Terrax commander Atarpheus Scarius stated the attacks severely damaged or destroyed the border checkpoints, and stated that no crime committed against the native Santa Magdalenian populations will go unpunished, regardless of where they are committed. The Imperial army did not release any estimates on the number of casualties caused stating only that they were satisfied with the results of the stirkes.

Scarius released an additional statement that while fighting against nationalist groups in the east continues, progress is being made, and the socialist militias which the Imperium continues to support are making great strides in their progress towards becoming a coherent fighting force capable of conducting operations on their own.

Breaking:Chairman and President Aleksandre Gelashvili Dies From Heart Attack. Tamarlan Akhmedov Named as Interim Leader

Image

Tamarlan Akhmedov, giving the National address at noon today.

Gelashvili was found dead after a major pulmonary embolism in addition to a heart attack had killed him in the early hours of May 28th, 2020. A state funeral service will be held the following weekend. The flags of Samotkhe will be flown at half mast, as well as any Samot flags in Embassies worldwide. As of now, the secretary of State, Tamarlan Akhmedov has been appointed as interim president.

Tamarlan Akhmedov is known for his strict anti-immigration policies and heavy right-wing stance on politics. In an address he made to the nation, he assured that he will "continue the great work" of the leaders that came before him, and "assure that the nation will be the most secure and prosperous."

This is seen as quite an event during the already heightened tensions in Artemia and the recent 5/11 attacks in the north, many have doubts to whether or not this is an assassination. The department of defense has issued a statement saying that there is "No chance" that there is any possibility of foul play, and the people should not worry about this time of crisis.

BREAKING: YAROVARS SEIZE AŽYTĖNAI AFTER THREE-WEEK SIEGE; GARDIC NAVAL AIR STATION IN KIRONIA BOMBED

Image

Yaroslav Batrutdinov

AŽYTĖNAI — It has been 29 days since the Federal Air Force of the United Federated Districts launched airstrikes on the Aukalnian capital and 21 days since Yarovan and Kholak troops began its ground invasion of the city. Today in a press conference in Shchyokhov, Minister of National Security and Defence Mikhail Korablyov was joined by President Tanas Gruzdev in his announcement that the Aukalnian garrison in Ažytėnai has officially capitulated. Korablyov also outlined further details of the Yarovan bombing of the Gardic Alatskivi Naval Air Station on the north-eastern coast of Kironia, the first significant act of war by Shchyokhov since the declaration on 12 May.

Following the mass civilian evacuations from much of the Republic of Aukalnia to the Republic of Sartland, General Tomas Kriugzda was charged with the Aukalnian defence garrison of Ažytėnai. Kriugzda had managed to gather enough forces and war material to successfully defend the city for a couple of weeks longer than expected. However, the situation of the civilian inhabitants of Ažytėnai became increasingly desperate. Constant bombardment of civilian facilities, lack of food and medical supplies resulted in heavy casualties among the city's population. Coupled with the eight consecutive days of heavy airstrikes, much of the capital is in unrecognisable ruin and the total number of casualties is thought to be more than 8,000. Shchyokhov, however, maintains that only targets of strategic and economic importance were subject to the airstrikes, and that measures were taken to avoid residential zones of the city. The destruction of Ažytėnai’s waterworks meant that it became impossible to extinguish fires brought on by the bombings and reports have emerged that Aukalnian soldiers began to turn on one another. Indeed, Kriugzda’s surrender this afternoon stands as a contrast to the Aukalnian military leaders in Sartland, the last remaining region still largely under the de facto control of the United Republics. Kriugzda, along with some 5,000 Aukalnian soldiers under his command have been transported to internment facilities near the border with Lestykhol, where they are set to remain for the duration of the conflict. Minister Mikhail Korablyov has once again appealed to President Džiugas Svidrauskas, asking him to agree to the signing of a truce with the United Federated Districts in an effort to “prevent further bloodshed”.

Speaking at the Surkov Palace’s Briefing Room, a beaming Minister Korablyov has said that with or without a truce, Yarova will have “liberated” the entirety of Aukalnia and Sartland within the next seven days. “Mr. Svidrauskas must be greatly disappointed if he expected the West to have come to the rescue, as if by magic”, Korablyov told one of our reporters at the conference. “Our position, our mandate, and our conscience have been clear through the course of this military campaign”, he added. “The flagrant disregard for self-determination and human rights by that administration has been sufficient for us to intervene by force”. Responding to a question about this morning’s strike on Gardarike’s Alatskivi Naval Air Station in Kironia, Korablyov was equally enthusiastic. He described the aerial bombardment as an “unmitigated success” but went on to say that, at this stage, it would still be “impolitic to push the boat out”. Whereas President Gruzdev, in his fleeting words, expressed his hope that Gardarike would “refrain from intensifying hostilities” and “receive the memo” that Yarova is treating the campaign in Aukalnia and Sartland with the “utmost gravity”. Andrei Abdullayev, a foreign policy spokesperson for Gruzdev was noted as saying: "It would seem now as though Shvekshna will not be the only place undergoing a democratic referendum on its constitutional status". When asked to clarify his remarks, Abdullayev refused to deny the plausibility of direct annexation by Yarova of Aukalnia and Sartland, far beyond the blood-stained hills of Shvekshna.

KELEROVA: "I REALLY DIDN'T THINK GOD MADE MISTAKES UNTIL I LEARNT OF THE GARDS"

Image

Milo Khabenskyev

BORISOPOL — This evening at a public rally on the northside of Borisopol, Vice President Kristina Kelerova had a few choice words to say about the ongoing conflict in Aukalnia and Sartland, the war with Gardarike, PAC member states, and perhaps most bizarrely, the recent death of Samotkhe’s Chairman and President Aleksandre Gelashvili. The event, which had been scheduled since the presidential inauguration and was held in the FC Borisopol Stadium, attracted crowds of some 40,000 people and featured Kelerova delivering her trademark wild and impassioned rants for a solid 90 minutes.

“I really didn’t think God could make mistakes until I learnt of the Gards”. “Propyrgía are the genitalia of the East, yet they are incapable of holding their own urine”. “A man once said, ‘those without the ability to solve conflicts peacefully do not deserve to rule any nation’. That man is now dead”. Yes, you read all of that correctly. In an astonishingly brutal and unstateswomanlike appearance, Vice President Kristina Kelerova made the audience cheer louder than that of any national football league game. The rally, which had been advertised as ‘Kelerova: The Surkov Savage’, did not feel like a typical assembly of People of Yarova (PY) diehards. There was a newfound sense of unshakeable confidence in Kelerova and in the attendees, who waved Yarovan flags and donned t-shirts featuring the Utka — the nickname of endearment for President Gruzdev which refers to his duck-like limp. An outside observer could be forgiven for forgetting that Yarova is currently at war with Aukalnia and Sartland and the Gardic Realm. On second thoughts, maybe that is what has energised the party’s supporters in the first place. A blonde-haired and pretty Otrada girl, Kelerova has long been a favourite in the PY movement to succeed Gruzdev in the leadership role. Thus, it was no surprise that she was selected as his running mate in the last general election. Not everybody is a fan though. In spite of her strong academic background and popularity in the party, Kelerova is a polarising figure and is not short of her own series of controversies. It is her propensity to offer harsh insults to her political opponents that often gets her on the headlines but with her recent entry into the Surkov Palace, those insults carry more weight. Below are just some memorable and controversial quotes from Kelerova at the rally.

“I’m glad to be here tonight, it’s always an honour to be with my people. You are my people and this is my city. Every time I visit I feel like I’m at home, and I can just sense the warmth emanating from you all. You know, Borisopol is a truly beautiful city. The food, the culture, the architecture, the history… it’s the archetype of Eastern Artemia. That is why last year when the city was bombed by socialist extremists, I called out then-President Grigorievna for having blood on her hands. Words have power… and consequences. This past month Borisopol was attacked again, this time by… well, the unremarkable, the gutless, the devoid of conscience. I’m a woman of faith, I believe in God… and I really didn’t think God could make mistakes until I learnt of the Gards”.

“The most frustrating aspect of this campaign [in Aukalnia and Sartland] is the collective response we have received from virtually all of our traditional allies. When we entered into government last month, we were level-headed and at complete ease with the idea of continuing our membership of the League of Free Nations. For an intergovernmental organisation with a mission statement to defend democracy, they resoundingly failed in that endeavour when it came to Shvekshna. Fear is what became of those cowards. Just because one fears wolves, is one not to go into the woods?”

“It is small wonder that the League demonstrated such disgraceful cowardice when it has nations such as Propyrgía participating within it. It has long been said in Yarova that Propyrgía are the genitalia of the East, yet they are incapable of holding their own urine”.

“It’s true that bad things do happen to bad people. A man once said, ‘those without the ability to solve conflicts peacefully do not deserve to rule any nation’. That man is now dead. I didn’t enjoy him blabbering so much anyway”.
