Following the rapid Escalation of tensions and conflict in Teutonia, and with increasingly volatile language being used by all sides. Foreign Minister Sergio Miranda de Carvalho has urged calm from all sides.
Speaking at Congress this afternoon, Mr. de Carvalho outlined the governments position;
"We wholeheartedly condemn both the attack on the Koryese embassy in Oberlandscheid, and the widespread violence plaguing the country. Our government stands by its determination that violence solves nothing.
The footage made public by North Veikan film crew of violence hitting a diplomatic mission is the breaking of the trust of international diplomacy, and is an offence to not just the Koryese but an offence to every single individual on the face of the planet.
We have seen in the language used across the globe that certain large alliances seem ready to gear up for intervention. This is not something that we as a government or a nation can ever support. For however poor the situation, this is, and must remain a Teuton domestic issue. The cabinet met this afternoon to agree that Jungastia will make itself poised to supply any humanitarian aid if needed, in line with the Neutrality Clause of the constitution. We also affirmed the government's commitment to the clause.
The events of the past few days have brought a dark cloud across the region. Jungastia will, from Monday, make preparations to offer its services as a negotiation partner. We urge the international community, and the groups within Teutonia to sit around the table. We will always have this door open.
I must address the practical ramifications here regarding transport, citizens and the diplomatic mission. This afternoon, all non-essential diplomatic staff have been evacuated back to the capital. We will maintain our diplomatic presence in Oberlandscheid, while closing the Consulate in Unterpreuschwitz effective immediately. Jungastia has for many years been host to the Agranan Interests Section in Oberlandscheid which will be, regrettably, scaled back to essential levels.
I must announce than the Ministry has updated its notice to travellers that it recommends against all travel to Teutonia, and within 150km of the Teuton border in any neighbouring country. This is matched with the introduction of a departure order, requiring all Jungastia citizens and residents to leave Teutonia for their own safety. With the imposition of a departure order, the government will be providing evacuation flights in the next coming days.
Those who do refuse to travel must be aware that from Friday we will be unable to provide the level of consular assistance they may expect and there can, unfortunately, be no guarantee to their safety.
We have set up a 24 hour hotline for those concerned with the situation, be they within the travel advice areas, or family of those who are, which can be accessed for free by calling (+12) 900 9001 9001 from this evening.
The State Aviation Management Board has issued a NOTAM requiring all planes with Jungastia registrations, and all those flying to or from Jungastian Airports to avoid a described area including the entirety of Teuton airspace.
These measures will of course be reviewed on a daily basis, and any changes will be announced in Congress by myself or the State Premier.
We encourage, as we always do, a calm. We say to those aggrieved, to those who have faced loss, anger and violence begets only more anger, more hurt, and more deaths."
Congressional debate focussed on discussing the government's approach, with PP opposition deputies critiquing the maintenance of even essential staffing at the Embassy in Oberlandscheid.
Additional time was focused on the performance of the Jungastian Football Team in the AIFA Tournament, as well as the knowledge the government had prior to the revelations in the recent airing of the RPJ Testemunho programme.
