Sub-Nautica is supposed to be the New World, I don't think any powers are supposed to be there. I also doubt he would create a new archipelago for you, but you could ask. If not, you might could take the islands of the coast of the orange and yellow countries, and just have them densely populated and heavily industrialized, or you could take the larger islands to the right of the blue countries on the northern side of the map, and some of the land to the south of that too, if you're so inclined.
