Operation Recovery- [IMPERIAL FATHERLAND ONLY]

Postby Celestiaran » Sun Sep 24, 2017 3:13 pm

On April 15th, 1962, the Celestiaran army began Operation Recovery. It was intiated after the discovery
of a hush-hush genocide against Celestiaranarians living in Guatemala. After signing a deal with Socialist
Great Britain for millitary support in exchange for a millitary base and the lower half of Guatemala,
Celestiaran felt confident enough to attack. At the date of it's Inception, naval vessels, hovercraft,
helicopters and aircraft gathered at Rio Lagartos. One wing of bombers went ahead to weaken the init-
ial defenses.

Three BX-21 Jet bombers zoomed across the hastily-built defenses. With a click, a series of
small munitions dropped, lighting up the forest below. Radio scratched. The jets reported the weak state
of the defenses, before moving round for another pass. Anti Aircraft fire shot up from below, only nearly
missing the bombers. A roaring filled the air, as a wing of propeller aircraft chased down the jets.
Fire and smoke trailed off of the Jets, and they hurriedly retreated, with their mission complete.

BELIZE CITY
--------------------------------------------------

People from different places, customs and races disembarked the transport boats in a disciplined and orderly fashion. To the local people only one of the three types of people coming into their land seemed very strange and unusual, the white folks were not too uncommon and the coloured ones looked like them. Only the gigantic beasts carrying their heavy equipment seemed out of place and almost imaginary. Of all the green uniformed men and women only one man stood noticeably different, a brown coloured man with very high composure and sharp eyes. He began looking around and after his assessment was done, we walked towards the local soldiers with precise steps.

"Greetings. Who might you be?"
"Corporal Hoffmann sire."
"Do you know who is in charge here?"
"Righty right, that'd be Sergeant McFarren here."
"No, of the province."
"The entire place? That'd be the Governor, Private William here will take ya there."

How strange, it would be strange for the soldier to assume that this man who was obviously in command of a small army wanted to talk to the Governor.

"Soldier, who is in charge of your entire unit?"
"The garrison Lieutenant, but he's bu- oh! I see! You mean the British Task Force commander, aye?'
"Yes."
"Well, tell me if ya see any well-dressed Britons here because I haven't. Looks like you chaps are early."
"You mean we arrived before the British?"
"Aye, looks like it."

Bummer, the regiment would have to wait until the British arrived.

"Well then, do you have good beaches around here?"

Celestiaran's Regiment

Belize City, Cont..

The Celestiaran Regiment arrives

On the harbor of Belize, regiment after regiment of foreign troops waited. A mist appeared
on the horizon, followed by a muffled roaring.A small fleet of hovercraft flew across the water,
with one in the front, that was very obviously the flagship. It was large with a bridge at the front.
As it arrived, the lieutenant of the foreign armies stepped forward. With a clang and a wheeze,
the hovercraft settled on the beach and a small ramp shot out. A sharp dressed, short, but sev-
ere looking woman walked out, followed by a couple soldiers.
"Hello. I am Regiment General Charlene Schmitt. You must be the Oceanykan head?"
"Yes, of course."
"Well, we have a lot to do before we can fight."
"A fleet ten times that and we will win the war."
"This is the whole fleet. 90% of it at least."
"Well, now I see whey you need so much help.

British Honduras
APRIL1962

Guatemala, a land of mysterious jungles, bright lakes, towering mountains, ancient temples and above all, skulls. Skulls of the people who are undesired in the eyes of the right winged dictatorship. A country torn apart by civil wars and Coup d'états, is now stained by its' governments massacre of thousands of ethnic Mayans, and leftist rebels, which still continues.

The British government, on seeing the Celestiaran plans for invasion, agreed to particicpate in overthrowing the regime, and occupying parts of Guatemala. Joined by Oceanykan and Celestiaran force Britain has begun the invasion of Guatemala. The invasion will cause no strain on war efforts in the Middle East, as the Prime Minister stated that Britain is a fully developed military power, capable of fighting on several fronts.

15,000 British Armed Forces personnel are currently stationed in British Honduras, and several thousand more are arriving from the Caribbean colony of Jamaica. At 8:00 this morning, the British Air Force bombed several Guatemalan airfields in the north, and military garrisons, and now, the 15,000 British troops have crossed the border, and make their way through the mountains, under the cover of Britain's air power. They head for the city of Flores, near the borders with British Honduras and Celestiaran. They don't expect to meet much resistance from the Guatemalan military, which is fairly small and undeveloped - only useful for carrying out the genocide of innocents.

15 km Outside Puerto Barrios, Izabal Department
APRIL1962

It wasn't like an ordinary war. There were no enemy planes flying above, no enemy tanks charging towards them, or artillery shells falling on them. Only light spatterings of gunfire sometimes broke out in the jungles around, of out of a roadside hideout, by bands of Guatemalan soldiers. The Vulcan bombers had rendered most Guatemalan airfields unusable, and the Hawker Hunter jets continued to fly above the convoy, observing the area for any Guatemalan soldiers further up the road.
Several thousand soldiers, mostly mechanised in trucks or APCs, had crossed the border of British Honduras into the Guatemalan region of Izabal that morning, following a large night bombing raid of Puerto Barrios, its naval assets, and several other military positions outside the city. With the enemy severely damaged, the British forces travelled towards the city with little resistance.

As they passed through jungle villages, set back amongst the ancient Mayan temples, the citizens greeted the them with emotionless, worn faces. They didn't care what was happening, or who would eventually govern their land, as long as they were able to live peacefully and freely. Several villages had been burnt to the ground by the Guatemalan soldiers, and British aid groups, who followed behind the armed forces, delivered crates of food to malnourished children, ethnic mayans in particular, who had been persecuted by the Guatemalan dictatorship.

The military convoy, heading towards the port city of Puerto Barrios was expected to reach its outskirts later that evening, when fighting is expected to intensify.
Meanwhile reinforcements and more equipment from the Caribbean islands are being shipped to British Honduras to join the 15,000 soldiers who had already enetered Guatemala. Celestiaran and Oceanykan soldiers are expected to be joining Britain soon, but our generals thought it best not to wait to long to attack, in case the Guatemalans are given enough time to prepare.

MELCHOR DE MENCOS
--------------------------------------------------

"Fuck the Celestiarans we're going in!"

The Marines were no strangers to jungle warfare. Many were from the city of Farenday which is surrounded by them, others were veterans of the New Caledonian war disillusioned with the Franco-Mardasian administration. All of them had been trained for it or had been in it. Given little mechanised support due to the circumstances of the terrain they had been fit as light infantry: shorts, boots, shirts, AKMS rifles, Sten Guns, RPGs, Ithacas, MG42s, flamethrowers, light ammunition pouches, bayonets, swords, grenades and knee mortars. But this was sufficient.

"Over there, in the red building. Mortarman, get them!"
"Aye kapitayne!"

The Ferozen light mortarman is a sight to behold. Rather than to sit back like a pansy firing from range, he stands in the middle of combat and aims his knee mortar directly at the target. A normal man would break the femur trying to use the Type 89 50mm mortar by firing from the knee, but not a Ferozen man. He fires again and again in quick succession and with questionable accuracy, but also within visible range of the enemy. The high explosive shells had a sufficient effect to them, but the morale hit of a man shooting a (small) mortar with nothing but his bare body and some ammunition is reasonably terrifying. The Guatemalan garrison scurries away from the building, and is shot by a Ferozen woman lying in ambush, shattering the unit with her 20mm Ho-5 autocannon.

"We have completed our mission. Little resistance from these soldiers, I assume their army core is defending Puerto Barrios, a more strategic location. Perhaps we are fools, attacking the empty jungles around Flores."
"For what it counts, we're taking the most heavily fortified position so you can advance much faster. Much easier getting to Guatemala City by Puerto Barrios. And the Celestiarans will reinforce you."

The British "advisor" was annoying, but useful sometimes. It was no secret that he was actually an overseer ensuring Oceanykan troops were disciplined and doing no harm to the already weak people.

"We can still reach Guatemala city from our objective. If our initiative succeeds, we can attack from the north while they attack from the west. A coherent plan, I believe."
"I agree. Ah, wish I could be with the lads meeting real resista~ Oy, you cunt! Don't you dare touch that booze, you're on op now! Damn it man, get your shit together!"
"Nothing wrong with some alcohol after a... great... battle... Corporal! Bring the booze to me."

May 2nd, 1962

The Outskirts of Carmelita City.

The Celestiaran army was very untrained, for they were created as a deterrent and not
as an active fighting force, until now. This lack of training was exacerbated by the fact
that more then half of the army was coming from the opposite direction, on the British
front, to aid Oceanykan troops in capturing Guatamala City And what little training they
did have was in city war-fare, because the biggest threat to Celestiaran was America,
and they would drop their troops in the city and forgo the water and land routes. They had
been fighting, so far, in either lush jungle or harsh desert, with no inbetween and no warning
of change. All were looking forward to arriving in Carmelita, for there they could truly show their
strength. As they emerged from the jungle, they stared down the city thirty kilometers
ahead, in a small valley. The outskirts were lightly wooded with large rocks and boulders.
The army carefully walked straight down the road, with wooden houses dotting them.
Hovercraft flanked them, and more army moved sneakly in the rocks besides them, waiting
for an ambush. And they got one. Guatemalan troops sprung out of the rocks and trees, like
from thin air. As the hidden Celestiaran troops swung to action, the lieutenant hastily radioed in
air support, which came in the form of bombers that killed just as many Celestiaran troops
as Guatemalan ones. They continued, running, now towards the city to get cover while the Gua-
tamalan troops chased after them. The Celestiaran troops hastility fortified while the hovercraft
held off the Guatamalan troops. Children ran, scared of the guns. They got mowed down by the
Guatamalans. The general, in an evacuated apartment building, radioed the closest British
and Oceanykan troops- "We need support, we are blocked in." And the support came.

Puerto Barrios
MAY 1962

Resistance in the city was stronger than expected. Although the Air Force and cruisers in the Caribbean Sea had several damaged their port and military positions overnight, the Guatemalans were emerging from buildings and ambushing the troops as they made their way into the city.
However, within 24 hours of reaching its outskirts, some soldiers had already made it to the centre of the city, where intensive fighting was ensuing.
With APCs and tanks unable to get through some of the narrower streets, many troops have had to go by foot, making them vulnerable to enemy fire from windows above them.

In the city center, a platoon of men were making there were past the smouldering port, which had been bombarded by the Britsh navy, when a Russian built T-34 tank emerged from under a camouflaged canopy.
"Tank ahead, take cover!"
The platoom took cover in side streets, as the tank fired a shell down the street.
"Shit I though the Air Force had taken out their armour. How the hell are we gonna take that out with no damn explosives"

Fortunately for the platoon, they had been accompanied by an Oceanykan marine, who had been observing British battle tactics. The Oceanykan marine, opted to take out the tank himself, and grabbed a grenade from his belt, running out into the street, screaming some tribal warcry. He ran head on towards the tank, which began to point its gun towards him. From a distance of 10m he threw his grenade, which went straight into the Tanks gun, exploding just as a shell emerged. The turret of the tank immediately blew up, clearing the street for the British platoon.

Elsewhere in the city similar valour has been shown by British and Oceanykan troops - but mainly Oceanykan ones, who seem devoid of any natural fear.
Overall the battle was expected to finish in the next few days, as Britain begins to mop up remaining Guatemalan resistance. Once the city has fallen, the troops will regroup, wait for reinforcements and then join the Oceanykan armies in the north, who are heading for Flores, and launch an assault towards Guatemala City.

May 1962
Coban Airport/Flores

At the airbase in Coban, CF-104s, CF-101s and Sabres take off from the airport, flying off to intercept and engage fighters which are presumably going towards Flores to destroy the Guatemalan military there. A tank column consisting of M47s AND M48s and a couple of APCs with troops arrives at Flores to fortify defenses in the city, so there could be a chance for them to hold out until more reinforcements come.

The Guatemalans prepare their defenses as does the Anglo-Americans. It is quiet for now.. The Anglo-American men silently prepare and wait, hoping that they have the element of surprise when the Oceanykan, Celestiranian and British forces arrive at Flores, hoping for somewhat of a easy victory... The city has been fortified with barricades and such covering the streets, civilians evacuated, tanks holding at choke points within and without the city. Scouts/Recon wait in the hills not far from Flores, looking out for the first sign of enemy forces. Trees have been mostly cut down in a hurry on the plains that surround the city, so whatever is with them can be used to fire down on hostiles, but not on the hills.

Back in Coban.. A another division has just left for Flores, to make it to the closely coming battle. Other divisions head off in their own way, to make a fallback line, if the battles in the north fail, and a retreat is needed.

Izabel Department, Guatemala
MAY 1962

Puerto Barrios had been finally captured, along with several hundred Guatemalan soldiers. What little there was of their Caribbean fleet had been scuttled or destroyed by bombing raids.
In the city, burning Russian built tanks dotted the streets and a propellor plane, which had been shot down by British anti aircraft cannons lay smouldering in a school playground.
Reinforcements and aid for the starving Guatemalans was arriving by sea into the port. The troops, who remained largely unscathed, were regathering for the push towards Guatemala City.

12,000 soldiers are to head towards the Capital city, armed with the latest military technology, and under the cover of Britains air superiority. Another 3,000 will head north to the El Peten region to support Oceanykan and Celestiaran forces.
The offensive through the jungle will be long, and difficult, especially with the likeliness of Guatemalan soldiers waiting in the jungles, to ambush British troops.
But eventually we expect to reach Guatemala City in two weeks, capturing the other towns and cities in the south east as we advance.

The recent intervention by Anglo-American forces has shocked the British government, and is likely to cause damage between our two countries relationships, which are already fairly icy.
They should not be under the illusion that Britain won't be willing to open fire on another western power. If Anglo-American forces arrived for war, then war they shall get.

But at the War Ministry in London, most concentration is not on Guatemala, but the preparations for another major offensive, on the other side of the world; the biggest that Britain will have undertaken for well over fourth years.

The outskirts of El Subin
May 1962

Soviet forces, at the request of Celestiaran, have entered the conflict. 10,000 highly trained soviet soldiers were waiting orders, following Celestiaran forces in the rear. After growing mistrust from British forces, however, soviet forces detached and took a different course to El Subin. They were followed by a small number of Celestiaran troops, eager to see soviet action and somewhat worried about soviet plans.

Once arriving there, soviet forces effectively took control of the town, after briefly skirmishes with local Guatemalans, who were not expecting fighting there and reinforced the Flores front instead. Soviet inspectors analyzed the area and terrain finding proper room for plane arrivals should soviet forces need reinforcements. Locals were largely cooperative with just some minor incidents. Just after putting the Soviet and Celestiaran flags, Col. Mikhail Sovchenko called Celestiaran forces to agree on terms of the invervention.

Rumors are that the soviets might take a different road to Guatamala city, to try to reach before the British.

"The hell you mean we're heading to Guatemala? We just got here!"

The Lafayette had only been back in France for a few months after an extremely dangerous battle with the dread pirate captain Bill Wurtz in the New Caledonian War. The ship was back in ship-shape condition, as it were, but the crew of the battleship was expecting a much longer rest after the deadly battle.

"Says it right here, Coty's declaring support for the Guatemalan rebels against the Celestiarian invasion and that we're to lead the transport ships to the country then start picking off enemy ships and such."

"Merde! Why is Coty starting another war, when his poll numbers for the election next month are about as low as you can get? And aren't we friendly with Celestiaran, why are we interfering in their war?"

"Maybe this is a last-ditch effort to gain support, or maybe he realizes he's doomed and is just doing whatever the hell he wants. Either way, soldiers follow orders. Now, get this tin piece of junk moving, the escort fleet is leaving at dawn. Watch out for British and Soviet ships, as well as Oceanykan pirates, though I doubt too many of them are in the Atlantic. Anglo-Americans are on our side, so don't shoot at them unless they really ask for it."

"Are you telling me our 3 greatest enemies are all supporting this? Ok, now I'm interested, wonder if I'll get a chance
to settle the score with a certain Bill Wurtz."

"Kinda doubtful, most of the pirates are basically ignoring the communist government like they ignored the previous one. Now don't waste time, a Guyanen division has already been dispatched to the country, probably already bravely fighting the dirty commies."

"Ah merde, I think I'm going to be si-BLEHHHHH"

"Don't drink the water! And don't eat the food! Or the prostitutes! It's all filled with bacteria! What kind of hellhole country did we land ourselves in?"

"Guess we'll just have to *hic* live on booze alone, huh Sarge? They can't possibly *hic* mess that up right?"

"Merde, it's the CO, run for it boys!"

"What the fuck is this! The communists are going to reach this city any day now and I find half of my soldiers barfing their guts out or too drunk to stand! Get the fuck outside right now, we're running drills and the next one to puke blood is scrubbing the destroyer's hull with a toothbrush!"

12km from Guatemala City, Guatemala
MAY 1962

10,000 British troops stopped 12km from the outskirts of the Guatemalan capital. For the past week and a half they had been advancing through the jungles, through mostly unprotected towns and villages, through dusty roads which winded past ancient Mayan temples. The jungle had become a dangerous place. The Guatemalan army would run into them as we advanced, adopted Guerilla warfare, ambushing our troops as they came past.
Marines had mostly cleared the rainforests, and most strongholds of the Guatemalans had been destroyed by the airforce.

Now, the army were preparing for the final push, towards Guatemala City, whilst the Soviets, Oceanykan and Celestiarans were still fighting in the northern province of El Peten. Several hundred tanks, artillery pieces, APCs had all gathered twelve km from the outskirts of the city, and in the distance you could make out explosions at airfields, garrisons, military headquarters, where the airforce was bombing, weakening the enemy for the push into the city, which is heavily protected, with trenches and bunkers throughout the city. Aid agencies which follow behind the front line have said the situation amongst Guatemalan civilians is dire, with disease and malnutrition predominant. They've said that the government funded aid is coming into good use there.

The military said It would not be distinguishing between Guatemalans French and Anglo-American soldiers and anyone who fights Britain in this war will be declared an enemy, and met with proportionate firepower. The government is appalled by Frances decision to join the war, but said it would not likely effect the final outcome of the conflict.
Any enemy POWs would be captured and returned st the end of the war.

Guatemala City, May 1962

Spotters in the surrounding area of Guatemala City had noticed the British Army outside of the city, and had called in for support. Bombers and CAS was brought in to take out the artillery of the British, and a few hundred soldiers of their army. Units that were supposed to make the final part of the southern part of the Southern Guatemalan defense line, nearing around ten thousand soldiers with tanks and artillery, look on at the preparing British.
One soldier walks up to the General of the defense line, and asks: "Sir, what are we going to do with the British?" The General looks at the soldier, and says: "We flank 'em. From this side, their back, and other sides." The soldier nods and says: "I'll go tell the tank and soldier divisions to encircle them, sir." The General gave a grin. "Good. They won't know what hit 'em."

Within hours, in the night, the British were nearly surrounded by some Guatemalan forces, 10 divisions of the Anglo-American Army and some French Army soldiers that had met up with the Anglo-American Army. It could make or break the tide of the British when dawn hits. This battle will not be pretty, at all.

Flores

Forces in Flores have readied what they have, and some units have broken off from the army to cause havoc behind the enemy lines of Northern Guatemala. The air supply has still made Flores still stand as one of the remaining strongholds within North Guatemala, and with another division there, it would take a real big combined and unified effort to take them out. Some tank divisions secretly push into enemy territory with the cover of the night on the roads which would not be of any use to them.

FLORES
MAY 1962
--------------------------------------------------

The fighting was rather soft. The Oceanykan Marines regiment attacked alone the outskirts of the small city, meeting decent resistance hidden in the corn fields. That is, until part of a huge Anglo-American armoured division-sized formation arrived to the farmland east of the city where the fighting was happening to break the attack.

"Bummer."
"Yes."
"Fookin' Canadans."

The Marines retreated to their natural environment: the jungles around Flores. There they set up camp, traps and fortified all according to the guerilla magazine spread by the allied Vietcong.

"The tanks will bring us great trouble. But no more than they will have driving the machines on jungle, mud and city! Ha!"
"You know what? I sympathize with them. I bet some dumbass CO with a shotfruit seed for a brain sent them tanks for "more firepower" or some bullshit."
"Fookin' offizas bringen pain to marins all round de worlde. Poor chapz don't standa chanze 'genst arr pee gees."

On the distance the legendary beast known as the staff sergeant approached eating a freshly hunted can of baked beans.

"Hey you, form up. We're going to be raiding them for a few hours and come back. Bring a couple of molotovs."

12km from Guatemala City, Guatemala
MAY 1962

General Spoonster of the 10,000 soldiers who are currently waiting 12km from Guatemala City are getting increasingly worried. The troops had been outflanked by French and Anglo-American forces, and he needed the air support before he could make any advancements, and waiting here whilst the enemy artillery continued to shell them was doing no good.

"Dammit where the hell is this air support"

An Oceanykan Captain who was accompanying the British task force gave his suggestions.

"We don't need no fookin' air power. We can crush those fookin' Canadians with our bare hands. I say we run over that hill there charge 'em head on"

General Spoonster then proceeded to lecture the Oceanykan captain on how warfare had progressed over the last few centuries. Unlike in medieval times armies outside of the wastelands of Oceanyka don't tend to charge at each other anymore. There had also been the development of these things called planes which come in handy on the battlefield.
At that moment a formation of 15 bombers came over the hills to the west, greeted by cheers from the troops on the ground.

"About godamn time as well" expressed the General, very relieved.

The Oceanykan Captain light out a grunt of disapproval as the bombers roared over him. They soared over the hills, and then swiftly lifted up, rapidly climbing, over the enemy positions. One could just make out the air to surface missiles from the planes descend to the ground, whilst the enemy anti aircraft shells exploded around them.
As the planes turned back, the ground below them lit up, and the explosions rose above the hills. The General waited for several minutes, waits for the enemy shelling to continue. The shelling did not resume. The bombers must have targetted them. They'd be back soon aswell with more load to soften up the enemy.

The General gave the command, and hundreds of engines ignited and roared, as tanks and APCs prepared to continue down the path towards the city, and smash through the Anglo-American forces ahead of them.

"Now we can charge the enemy" Spoonster said to the Oceanykan Captain.

And like a child who had just been gifted with a new train set, the Oceanykan capitains' face lit up with glee. He rode ahead of the tanks on horse back, letting out some uncivilised tribal scream, waving around his log bayonet.

French Fleet, Caribbean Sea

"Admiral! New orders from command!"

The Lafayette and the other ships had been at sea for a few weeks, but had finally arrived in the Caribbean. Admiral Lumière was relieved that no hostile ships had attacked them on the way, but the fight was only beginning now.

"What is it then? Spit it out! Have the British calmed down at all and realized they're fighting on the same side as the Soviet Union?"

"Negative, commander, the situation's only getting worse. Command says we must get Britain out of the war ASAP, and the easiest way to get Brits to give up is by taking one of their precious colonies. We're going to invade and occupy the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, 1000 infantry from the fleet are going to branch off and meet up with another Guyanan division while the rest heads to Honduras to cut off the British advance."

"That sounds dangerous, expanding the war to outside of Guatemala. Won't that piss off other countries?"

"Oh, the krauts are already having a royal meltdown about the war since they don't have any control over it. But if the British start losing colonies while they're planning another huge military invasion and for a war that a growing number of the public doesn't approve of right before an election, they'll have to consider listening to our demands."

"Sounds good then, relay the orders to the rest of the fleet!"

Guatemala City, Guatemala

"The Dominion has arrived, we're not totally screwed!"

"Settle down now. We're still the best hope of keeping this city from falling into the hands of communists, so we're going to keep drilling!"

"Jesus, when did we become the fucking policeman of the world? Shouldn't Germany be the one dealing with this merde, since they're like, you know, the strongest anti-communist military that isn't held back by some stupid treaty in the world?"

"Non, c'est risible, the Germans are far too busy worrying about keeping their precious overseas empire than stopping an evil virus of Satan."

"Guess the real best military in the world will have to deal with it than, huh Sarge?" the private said as he failed to do a girl pushup. "Uh, sorry, lost my grip or something..."

Celestiaran/Guatemalan Border

The soldiers from Flores that left from the main garrison, to go north, somewhat got lucky with a few skirmishes, and arrived at the border of Celestiaran and Guatemala. One of the soldiers spoke to the tank division commander. "Sir, do you have a clue to where we are?" There was a sign not far, and a soldier just came back from looking at it. "Sir! We're on the border of Guatemala!" The Commander looks at the soldier, and asks: "You sure, Private?" "I'm sure of it sir, the sign says it all! We're probably now the front line for a push into Celestiaran lands!" "Well, damn. Let's go scare them to hell, boys!" They all saluted, as they made their way into Celestiaran lands.

12km from Guatemala City

A squadron of fighters, bombers and CAS fly over the British, causing havoc on their side, as the Anglo-Americans push them in, to break the tide of battle. The fighters go and attack the bombers that are attempting to hammer the Anglo-American divisions. Then, during the fighting, over the horizon appears around 30-40 UH-1s, carrying Anglo-American soldiers, and armed with miniguns, and other forms of weaponry. They land not far from the battle, and some land in the city. A large group goes to reinforce the battle that is ensuing, while the others go to prepare heavier defenses in Guatemala City.

Anglo-Americans continue to tighten their grip on the British advance outside Guatemala, while a not too big divison of 1500 men push into Celestiaran.

FLORES
MAY, 1962
--------------------------------------------------

The Canadians, far outnumbering the Oceanykans, had detached a significant force from the Flores garrison to attack the Celestiaran homeland. Recon teams informed the Colonel of the situation. A plan had been formulated.

In the middle of the night, a particularly dark one, the regiment of Marines attacked the city of Flores, using the cover of the night and the urban landscape to their maximum possible effect. The element of surprise was gained. Even a severely outnumbered force could be strong in the offensive with many advantages on their side.
The light infantry was highly effective at moving and firing around the city and the jungles, retreating and attacking at their will.

"What exactly do we hope to gain here, sir?"
"We will shock the enemy until the Celestiaran and Soviet armies formulate their grand attack."
"That seems a bit mild, we'll lose quite a few men."
"I see you are opinionated. Go grab your men and raid the Serenivan supply lines, you may gain discipline."
"No, wait~! Ah. Mmh. Yes sir."

15,000 ft above Guatemala City, Guatemala
August 1962

50,000 feet above the jungles in southern Guatemala, a squadron of fifty two bombers soared through the sky under the cover of darkness. The squadron, consisting of Avro Vulcan B.2 bombers, and American built McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantoms, was to commit the first raid of a series of devastating bombing raids against the enemy in and around Guatemala City, codnamd Operation Smoking Sunset.
Over the next several weeks, up to 10,000 tonnes of explosive are to be dropped across the enemy lines, which have remained static, since the British army aborted the offensive into Guatemala City. After that, by which time the Anglo American, French and Guatemalan Forces should be on their last legs, the army would make a final push into the capital city.

This was Captain Williamson’s first flight in Guatemala. He had arrived the day before from the Sadatland front, where British equipment and troops are being moved to Central America, following the near collapse of Sadatlands army.
Having flown plenty of missions over Sadatland, he wasn’t unfamiliar with the process. Through his cockpit he made out the murky shapes of the fifty other bombers and fighters in the air which soared diligently under the cover of the darkness.

Then his navigator began beeping, and voices through the radio began alerting him that he was approaching the outskirts of the city, where French and Canadian Forces lay entrenched in the ground. The new navigation system, which the Air Force has only recently issued, told him he was mere seconds from his targets.

He clicked the trigger, and several air to surface missiles erupted from his Vulcan bomber. Outside, missiles, as well as unguided bombs, poured out of the other aircraft, and made dropped to the ground. For up to a minute there was nothing. And then, 50,000 ft below them, hundreds of separate explosions appeared on the ground, as both the city and the jungles surrounding it lit up in a tremendous array of explosions.

In unison, the squadron of aircraft turned, and headed back to Belize, to be re-equipped and sent out for another raid that same night.

BRITISH AIRFORCE BEGINS MASSIVE BOMBING RAIDS ON GUATEMALA CITY, EXPECTING TO DROP UP TO 10,000 TONNES OF EXPLOSIVES OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS

The Atlantic
August 1962

The military convoy was steaming quickly across the Atlantic, towards the Caribbean and Central America. Lead by the aircraft carrier, GBS Hermes, a fleet of destroyers, submarines and troop carriers were several days from reaching Trinidad and Tobago, where many troops would be stationed following French threats to the island.

60,000 troops were in the convoy, some from Britain, but most from the Sadatland theatre, where much equipment and personnel was leaving, and heading for Central America.
The army underestimated the capabilities of the enemy, sending only 10,000 soldiers into Guatemala. Trying to avoid getting bogged down into violent jungle warfare, the additional 60,000 troops, and constant flow of equipment and munitions should allow the army to capture the rest of the country following the bombing raids.

Downing Street has renewed its commitment to the war, which it has justified, and said it will not back down from, no matter what the enemy throw at us. British forces will prevail, and we will show that the people Central America will not be subject to these right winged dictatorships.

Another Blue Streak Missile, which is capable of carrying nuclear warheads, was tested that day. It successfully flew 4,500 miles, from Britain, over France and across the Atlantic, before touching down in the seas just before French Guiana. The military said that this was a warning to France, who have threatened Trinidad and Tobago, and it showed France what Britain was capable of doing.

AN ADDITIONAL 60,000 MILITARY PERSONNEL ARE BEING SENT TO GUATEMALA AND TRINIDAD, AS THE GOVERNMENT RENEWS ITS COMMITMENT TO THE WAR.
A BLUE STREAK MISSILE WAS TESTED AND CRASHED INTO THE SEAS JUST BEFORE FREANCH GUIANA, A WARNING TO THE FRENCH.

Guatemala City/Flores
August 1962

Within the night, soldiers from both Flores and Guatemala City have been making their way to the shore, where Anglo-American Ships lie in wait, for the mass take off of forces off Guatemalan soil. UH-1s flew to collect units without any motorized parts, a rare sight, one of the few Chinooks flew and picked up both Anglo-American forces and if they could, motorized. It was a hard decision by their leaders, but, for their security, and for the stability of the Western hemisphere, it was necessary.

The troops within Celestiran had already retreated the night before, and had made their way to the ships. It felt to some within the army as a shameful retreat. Some didn't even get the order, and patrolled the Guatemalan lands, unknowingly as their superiors left them.

Anglo-American forces are pulling out in mass droves, for their return to Anglo-American soil...
