First off, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to view this thread. I'm new to NationStates and this is my first Roleplay. I have, however, read Kyrusia's guide. And, I have looked at other roleplays for inspiration. The IC will be up if there are at least 3 nations involved. I will soon brief you on the history of the Civil Rights Issue. HISTORY
Qaidi has always been an Islamic country. It has always practised Sharia. It has made the lives of its citizens Islamic since founding in 1456. Its Islamic values are pierced into each citizen's lives from 5 prayers every day to male and female circumcision to honour killings. It's punishments brutal from beheadings for apostasy to maiming for stealing. But. Is it time to change. Some have tried. But most of them died. Yet, the call for Civil Rights, religious freedom and the separation of government from religion is growing by the second. And that second speeds up every time a protester is killed.
The native Qaidi Christian human rights lawyer Abdul Islam el-Rahman, or Christopher Isaac el-Rahman as he calls himself has been the reason behind the surge in human rights protests. He was shot and blinded in one eye by Aaish al-Saad in 2010 during a visit to a church in Germany. This was when he famously forgave the criminal saying he would not bring charges on the criminal. The criminal was still jailed because of attempted murder but the damage to Qaidi was done. The criminal later confessed the Sultan of Qaidi, Imaad Ismael el-Qazi, ordered the attack. However, there is still no proof of that.
Christopher Isaac el-Rahman would go on to lead protests in major protests in 2015 after an Arab Christian was beheaded. He would be named a criminal and a traitor to Islam. However, there are many Muslims who support Mr Rahman. He would become the leading human rights lawyer in Arabia. He would start Rights of Man, a non-profit company which would help civil rights. He would also help bring Jazz and old western music into Qaidi. All non-Islamic music is banned in Qaidi. There was a famous moment where protesters sang Frank Sinatra's Fly Me to The Moon in 2014. Most protesters are gunned-down. However, the call for help grows louder as Qaidi changes.
