The Year: 1959.
The times in Santiland were changing rapidly, the new Poe regime, led by the communists, were fighting to stay in power.

Soon, the rest of the world decided to step in.

How did it happen, y'all ask?

You wanna hear the story, here it is.
The year was 1947, and the communist regime came violently into power.. The rest of the world was unaffected, so they just watched on as the country fell, and the nation became red.

A new dictator, Mr. Daniel Poe, was soon appointed, after the old one had a stroke.

While the resistance kept trying to fight, the world superpowers stared on, and thought they would be safe, they were wrong.

9 months ago, in 1958, the Santiland SSR invaded Argentinstan's Florenza Island, an economic superpower, and it is not known what will happen next.

"Our empire has prospered but will now see an unprecedented growth. Once we have the island of Florenza fully within our grasp we will be at the position of world domination. No one will stop us," Daniel Poe says to a crowd of cheering members of the Communist Party. The Soviet Socialist Republic of Santiland currently has control of the northernmost portion of the island and is preparing an invasion of its largest city. However, the Poe regime had underestimated the strength of the Argentine army and the invasion of Florenza is at a standstill. Also, rumors that the Santilandish Resistance is preparing to coup has greatly slowed down the empire's invasion.

"Men and women, communism must fall!" said the President of HL, Jimmy Alkfwo Kaufa to a crowd of 200,000.

The HL Army prepares for a invasion of the Santiland SSR, after hearing their leader wants a Argentine county.

The HL Armed Forces prepared for a attack on the communist Santiland, and have promised to support the rebels that are arising in the Santilandish SSR. The President of HL has said that "the Republic of Hiram Land shall assist the rebellion currently going on in Santiland, and we are hoping for a end to communism in Santiland. While we want to contain communism, we cannot let our feelings get to us. But, we must help Argentinstan as their Florenza is being threatened by SSSR forces. We fear that Argentinstan will soon fall to communism. It is like the domino effect, when one event occurs, another occurs, so on and so forth. We cannot let Argentinstan fall to Santilandish forces, and so therefore from this day forward we send full support to the rebellion in Santiland and to the Republic of Argentinstan." before he walked away.

The chancellor of the West Garlindan Democratic States made a formal statement to fellow congressmen. "We will not let the Santiland Empire dominate the people of Florenza! Allying with old enemies may be the last thing we should do, but we cannot let them interfere with the balance of power in Florenza. Therefore, Military action will be taken on them. We will ally with Argentinstan and HL against this threat, and trust my words, we will be victorious!" It is official, West Garlindo has declared War on the Santiland Communists and will be expected to start mobilizing their naval forces shortly.

A meeting was held with the most important millitary leaders of HL and the President. They discussed what to write in the ultimatium. They decided on this draft:

ULTIMATIUM TOWARDS THE SANTILAND SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLIC

Hereby demands that the Santiland SSR:

• Remove all troops from Florenza within 10 days,
• Give back Florenza within 5 days,
• Don't attack or invade Argentinstan or any of its allies,
• And do not attack Florenza for 90 years.

And orders that if the demands are not met within the times shown, war would be declared upon.

They send it to the Santilandish SSR leader. HL waits for the response from Santiland.

At a small restaurant on the dark and cold streets of northern River City, a confident and terrified figure prepared to speak, Henry Edgar Mullerman - the leader of the Resistance. His audience, a group of men and women who are tired of being treated like animals by the Communist regime.

"We have suffered long enough," says a defiant Mullerman,"and it is now time to take up arms against the very people that once had our support and loyalty. It's time we win our freedom back, it's time we get our rights, it's time we get democracy back! This struggle will not be easy and we must stand united not divided. Because, united we stand, divided we fall."

The crowd cheers but quickly hushes when the River City Police enters the room. This was the beginning of the fall of the Santiland SSR.

The HL Parliament thought the Santilandish SSR was going to reject the offers. They draft up a bill to declare war. It passes the House of MPs 401 to 49, and it passes the House of Lords 50 to 0. The President of HL signs the bill. This means HL is now at war with the Santilandish SSR.

At a rally, the President said in a loud voice "We men and women, are at war with the Santilandish SSR. We shall win and we shall prosper. If we win, we will split Santiland up! That is top secret right now but here is a hint, us HLers will have 1/4th of Santiland! LETS WIN THIS WAR!!!!!!!!!!!" before walking away to his motorcade.

The president walked out of the Presidential Palace, and stepped into his motorcade, and the anthem played as he slowly drove towards the Congress to speak. His motorcade was followed by 120 soldiers as he approached the congress.

He stepped out with the police on both sides of him.

He fixed his tie, and mumbled some things to advisors on both sides of him, he felt ready to speak in front of congress about the matter at hand, it was the right time to do so.

He stepped inside the Senate, all eyes on him and his guards. The guards saluted and stationed themselves at the door next to him.

Thank you for listening, members of the esteemed senate. I call you here today, in March of 1959, to request we declare a state of war against the Santiland SSR. Why shall we do that? They have declared an act of war against our close ally, Argentinstan, in the way of attacking their rightful territory of Florenza Island, and invading the south. Their imperialism may be a threat to the Federation, because if they attack our allies and invade, we may be next, we are nearby. Multiple requests have been sent from the public to declare war. That is why I believe that we should declare a state of war between Vietmihn and Santiland SSR.

Clapping erupted from the crowd of Senators, and they declared that the debate was imminent, and so the president sat down on the top balcony.

A member of the Conservative party stepped up to the floor, and everyone sat waiting for him to speak.

I believe we should declare war, because popular support is on the side of the war, and there is a strategic advantage over them, as more powerful nations, such as Argentinstan, want to go to war than not.

A multitude of people spoke, including the Secretary of Defense, who had arrived later just for the occasion, as he wanted to speak about the matter, and this was a major conflict in the region.

There was soon a vote in the senate, which passed 89-11, with massive support from both parties. Many felt that it was in part because of the president's informative speech on why the nation should go to war.

The president left to the House, and decided that he should make a more fiery speech on the matter in the house, because they were a picky bunch.

In June, 1959, the first assault wave of Santilandish soldiers attacked the island of Florenza, which was a direct attack on our ally!

Many, many people died that fatal day, when the attacks of the Santiland Soviet Socialist Republic attacked Florenza's south tip.

The casualty list at Pearl Harbor included loyal servicemen, and innocent civilians killed, and many more wounded. The slaughter commenced with authorization from the authoritarian, corrupt Santilandish government.

News of the attack was broadcast to the Vietmihnian public via radio bulletins, with many popular afternoon entertainment programs being interrupted.

I believe that I interpret the will of the House, and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us, The Federation of Vietmihn.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are quite possibly in danger.

With confidence in our Military, with the determination of our people, we will gain the triumph, along with our allies.

The House, wowed by the speech, had a vote of 174-26, after a short debate, where any opposition was ridiculed by the majority of people.

The president soon smiled at the results of the vote in the house, even slightly stunned by them, due to the ususal pickiness of he House.

The president soon walked out, followed by the same motorcade and with the same men next to him.

The country of Vietmihn was now at war with the Santiland SSR.

SANTILAND SSR

CAPITOL OF THE EMPIRE: OFFICE OF DANIEL POE

6:12 PM

The nervous secretary of Daniel Poe enters Supreme Leader Poe's office. In her hand, Vietmihn's declaration of war.

"S-sir, we have received this," says the secretary as she hands over the war declaration to the Supreme Leader.

After reading it over, anger surged throughout Daniel Poe's body. Then satisfaction came in, he even cracked a smile.

"Those fools, they don't know what were are capable of," the Supreme Leader says, "inform the Minister of War that he is to make preparations for a naval invasion of mainland Vietmihn. Also inform him that he is to be done with planning within the next 2 weeks. Understood?"

"Y-yes sir," the secretary says as she exits the office and heads down the hall where the Minister of War's office is located. After the secretary leaves, Daniel Poe says:

"This is the beginning of the end for capitalism and democracy."

20 naval ships headed for the coast of the Santilandish SSR. All were patrol boats. The Air Force and Army have prepared for a war like this, but they are preparing now so they won't be sorry later. Several bombers and attack planes head towards the Santilandish SSR to bomb all of the Santilandish SSR to its knees. HL has prepared their nuclear warheads and chemical warheads in case Santiland puts up a fight. The Navy is prepared too, after the developments leading to the declaration of war against the SSR.

West Garlindo has sent its first detachment to Santiland, with a large naval fleet and an advance veteran fighter squad, on the way, armed with ballistic missiles. Back home, military soldiers prepare their weapons, as well as chemical and nuclear warhead, in case anything goes wrong with the Santiland army.

Eventually, 4 destroyers, 3 aircraft carrier and more naval ships head for Santiland SSR. The aircraft in the carrier take off and begin attacking the mainland of Santilandish SSR. The President of HL ordered all bombers and attack planes to attack and bomb all of Santiland day and night. The Air Force also joined in on the aerial attacks, continuing to bomb Santiland into oblivion. The bombers and attack planes were soon met with more planes. The President of HL also declared a blockade of Santiland, several ships begin blockading Santiland. HL's nuclear and chemical warheads are on alert and ready to fire on Santiland incase Santiland puts up a fight. Anti-air weapons are also on alert incase Santiland sends their air force into HL.

The President of HL is still waiting for Santiland to make first fire. They send a messsage to the Santilandish SSR leader that they must leave Florennza or their capital will be attacked and met with fire and fury, like Berlin in 1945. They wait, and wait for a response from that leader.
