Tunisian-Gagium War (OOC, MT, Open)

Tensions have always been high between Gagium and Tunisia. However, nobody ever expected the tensions to grow so high that it would pave the path for war. After the conclusion of the Great War in 1918 with the defeat of the allied powers, it became clear that Gagium's colonies in Africa would be staying. Gagium's treatment of native Africans in the colonies caused other African nations to have high tensions with Gagium.

Now, the year is 2017, and the sultanate of Tunisia has declared war on Gagium after a Tunisian cargo ship was sunk by a Gagium destroyer in the Mediterranean sea. On August 28, Tunisia formally declared war on the nation of Gagium, and Tunisian soldiers attempted the assassination of Kaiser Wilhelm V on a diplomatic flight. A Gagium government official has reportedly stated that 'Tunisia would make a good colony', sparking outrage from other African nations.

Will you assist Tunisia in the liberation of Gagium's African colonies or will you assist Gagium in defending their occupied lands? The choice is up to you.

I am not certain where I found it but there used to be a really great guide on op-creation and rp-initiation in the stickies but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Basically what you want to have in an op are some administrative additions to the title (where you have already stated that this is ooc, pt and an open thread) like some basic rules (from general conduct such as "no godmode" to your personal preferences, which could be "no/ only one/ as many as you want puppets", "no one-liners" or the like, this is completely in your hands, depending on whether you want people to post regularly and/or how long a post ought to be etc.). Some things of what you write may seem obvious to you but help to keep an rp organised and running smoothly. We are all here to have fun and we do not want somebody coming along writing: "Testlandia nukes everyone, you are all dead ".

If you and Gagium are organising this, you may state specifically that you two are the ops and that your words count. That way you may be able to stop somebody from messing up your rp and then spamming this thread arguing with you.

Now Gagium already put the notion of sign-ups in the room. Of course, this is something the two of you need to establish, how you run and plan your rp is none of my business however, in my experience, sign-ups have helped in the past to ascertain that an rp runs the way you want.
Example:
A lot of ops want the name of a foreign minister or equivalent, a rough indicator who the applicant will side with and a notion of how many troops they are willing to add to a conflict (if any). Then you have somebody you can contact ICly, you know how many players are on each side and around about how committed they are to the fight and what you may need to face.
The advantage is that you can always say that there are too many per side or have people adjust their numbers to fit into your vision for the rp. Again, this is open to your own way of running things. You can allow people to stock up their presence if they ask you in this OOC thread or they can even change sides. Then of course you can either close sign-ups as you start or leave them open.
A great bonus to sign-ups is that you only admit people who have a general idea about how they wish to rp and have already thought a bit about their country, instead of making up the name of their leader, government type, etc. up as they go. This allows for higher quality posts and a much more enjoyable rp.

With all this out of the way, now comes the fun part: creativity. While everybody knows more or less what is going on from your current op, it is always amazing to see some more background. For instance, add some pictures, recount a past debate of the cabinet or parliament, a speech of your leader or a newspaper article. There is so much you can do. You could, for instance, have your generals plan the first strike in the op. Do not worry about giving away tactics and secrets, nobody is allowed to use them unless you inform their country or haphazardly use an unsecure telegram, in other words have legitimate reason to know about them.

I hope I do not come off as being all too great and amazing and all-knowing, I am not trying to make your life difficult in any way, just adding some constructive ideas... If you have any other questions, tg me or check out the stickies and do not worry if this seems a lot, people are always happy to lend a hand, add ideas, etc.

I totally agree with your ideas. I think a more detailed description of what lead to the declaration of war, maybe a description of a trigger event, and then the basic outline of the preparation of forces from both sides, etc, would be nice, and pictures also.

Adding to the tech terminology, MT is what you're looking for in present tech, of course there are other terms but the three main terms are PT, MT and FT. FT is Future tech, MT is modern and pt has been explained. But with most of my experience in this area concerning short ops, it will possibly end in one lined actions. Damned right, I don't have much to disagree with here, the number one reason why I don't join RPs is that they often look like how this looks nowadays.

I've been in an RP with you in the past and I've not accrued much of note from the experience other than that you deployed an insane amount of troops to a bloody exercise and had to be asked to leave by the OP. I hope that things have changed or that was just a particularly bad example of your skills and logic as an RPer.
