Image Captain Homer Shallow
Matuata Base, Furbish Islands
7/11/2017 - 00:50

The first C-37B had landed onto Airstrip C, followed only minutes later by the trailing aircraft without incident. The pilots of the aircraft all said quiet prayers to themselves for that fact. As they'd arrived on scene, they'd scanned civilian radio traffic in the area and learned that basically the whole island was under attack. The fact they'd landed without actually being blown out of the sky was a small miracle.

Captain Homer Shallow now stood with the total of forty-one personnel around him in a loose group on the tarmac of airstrip C. They hadn't even moved the C-37's off the airstrip, yet. It was important that Shallow got this first group ready and prepared for what was to come. He looked towards the four pilots and four flight attendants first, "So, I've read some of the most updated briefings since we landed... I don't think you guys are going anywhere right now. I'd say taxi off the runway to make room for any combat aircraft, and then standby in case something wicked this way comes, got me?" The pilots nodded and broke off from the group to return to their aircraft. Silently, each of them wished they could just get off this fucking island, but Captain Shallow was right; Matuata was a warzone right now and it was a miracle they'd landed without being shot at. They may not get the same blessing taking off and leaving. They'd have to wait until the fighting moved somewhere else, or it became so dangerous they'd need to leave while being shot at.

Next, Homer looked to the remaining thirty-five people left. The majority of them were unarmed, but some wore shoulder holsters and belt holsters with sidearms. Members of the support battalion had been flown in with Shallow so they could work with the Furbish personnel on the base and properly liaise before the main troops arrived in a few days. "Alright. Once the -37's are off and shut down, I want everything off the planes. All the luggage you people brought, but also the supplies," the planes had brought some food and medical equipment as a small token of good faith for the Furbish allowing them to land. No weapons other than the sidearms some of the personnel carried had been brought mainly to prove the planes weren't technically military aircraft and posed little threat to a nosy interceptor.

Homer looked around himself and yelled out to no one in particular, "and someone find me somebody in charge here!"

IMPERIAL ARMY STARTS DEPLOYMENT TO THE SOUTHEASTERN TERRITORIES, FURBISH ISLANDS
Our own brave 500 men from the Imperial Army, Imperial Coast Guard and Imperial Air Force are beginning deployment to the Furbish Islands to assist the local population against the communist threat

Keizerlijkestad- Just recently, communists in the Furbish Isles's Southeastern Territories have started a massive insurgency, taking the majority of the southern islands. Hundreds have been killed, regardless of being civillians, rebels or government forces. The growing threat that caused the Furbish to call for help from the rest of the international community is one of the many communist uprisings that threaten peaceful societies like the Furbish and our own Guiana.
Guianan officials were shocked to hear of the atrocities commited by the communist forces in the insurgency.

In the city of Matuata, the situation is dire for the civillians. Completely surrounded by communists, the city is getting hit hard and the civillians there are left in
a dangerous, war-torn environment with many getting caught in the crossfire between the frequent skirmishes.

The news of the dire conditions of life for the civillians in Matuata alarmed even His Majesty, the Emperor of Guiana, Faris I himself. His Majesty personally ordered his driver to get him to the military headquarters to order their best men to ready up for immediate deployment.

While the Guianan Empire may have differing ideals to the Furbish, His Majesty has stated that he is willing to join the coalition against the communists just to protect the lives of the suffering civillians and assist in ending the menace that threatens the civillians of the Furbish territory and possibly even the world.

As per Guianan Imperial policy of not negotiating with terrorists, an elite force of 500 reserve troops has been mobilized and trucks of soldiers, tanks and other weaponry have been seen heading towards Imperial City's dock. Two companies of soldiers have been seen entering the Imperial City dock while a company in Paramaribo have been seen immediately boarding a Cessna Skyvan of the Imperial Air Force, speculated to be destined for Cheddi Jagan Airbase.

While the Emperor himself has not made any detailed comments about the involvement of Guiana's men in the upcoming deployment to the Furbish Isles, but some generals have confirmed that one of the objectives of the task force will be to protect and distribute humanitarian aid to the citizens of Matuata while also assisting in fighting back against the communists.

Furbish Islands Task Force
Matuata Coast, Landing Beach

Major General Elpenor received the word from HMNS Foster that the bombardment was over, he immediately sent forward his Pathfinders to scout the forest and clear out enemy skirmishers while the main force, consisting of three Rifle Battalions from the 7th Owayan Regiment prepared to move out. The Pathfinder's quadrotor drones swept over the woods, their thermal cameras somewhat confused by the dense layer of leaves but with pausing for focus the unseen Pathfinders were able to find most booby traps but those that made no use of explosives or were hidden well enough remained unseen. The Pathfinders moved up, edging closer and closer to the carefully concealed guerrillas, some of which had already been seen by the drones and shot out of the trees by the approaching Owayan forces.

Then, disaster for the Pathfinders struck, one man put his foot down, straight onto a waiting caltrop. The metal trap failed to penetrate the man's thick boot but caused him to yelp in surprise and fall back, signalling the attack. In an instant, the Pathfinders were trapped in a murderous hail of automatic and semi-automatic gunfire which killed and injured men, luckily they carried smoke grenades which, after a few deadly seconds, concealed their positions and allowed them to beat a hasty retreat.

I understand this could be considered godmoddy in it's current state. Furbish Islands, please tell me what you think and if I should edit.

Shallow gave a subtle wave to the man who spoke up, "I'm Captain Shallow," he gestured to the other contractors offloading equipment from the planes, "that's food and medical supplies for you people," another gesture towards the ocean, "And about a thousand klicks away are friends coming to help. Or not. It depends on how safe it is here. Either way, I was sent ahead to give you these supplies as well as make sure the Furbish government was on board and I was caught up with all the latest intelligence you had. Do you have an abridged version of the last sitrep you've seen?" Shallow wasn't offering much in the way of politeness. He was a man of business, and he had a job to get done, and only a couple days to do it before the task fleet arrived expected him to have information he currently didn't have and expecting to have space he currently didn't have reserved.

Shallow raised an eyebrow and leaned forward to look at the nametag, as well as check the young man's rank. He nodded and then snapped his fingers, "C'mon, Lieutenant... Doo-Nee. Let's hear it."

Arcadian Intervention in the Furbish Isles
Image
July 14th, 2017: Today, Federal Parliament voted to send an Arcadian military detachment to aid the Arcadian ally of the Furbish Isles. While a small amount of troops have already been operating on the ground, the vote has passed, and a task force named the "Furbish Isles Security Forces" or the FISF. The Arcadian government has proposed a joint command inviting other nations to the FISF to better help the Furbish Isles.

A major factor in the vote was a raid pulled off by the Arcadian forces, that resulted in a downed helicopter, and several dead. While the target was secured, Arcadian forces still are in the city waiting for reinforcements.

The remaining forces in the city pulled back to the airfield outside of the city. They destroyed the crashed helicopter and got the crew out a few hours ago, and now its just a few small units left. Most of the forces were back at base, soon they heard helicopters in the distance, and soon he heard a soldier yell "We have an evac they will be here in five minutes!" Some cheered while the captain barked orders. As the helicopters arrived it was two CH-47s and they all loaded on. As they checked to see if they were all on board, gunshots started to hit the helicopters. They NCOs soon confirmed they have everyone the helicopters lifted off, and he looked out the window and saw Arcadian fighters bombing the city. He was just happy to be out of there.

Shallow looked at the young Furbish officer, annoyance beginning to show both in his posture and his expression. "Okay, and how do I contact him in Sagala, Lieutenant?" The annoyance was tinging his voice as well. Homer was more than a little irked. From all intelligence, Matuata was under siege and the current focus of the war here, and the closest leader was in Sagala, which if Shallow remembered, was on the other side of the country? That was just fucking perfect.

Shallow watched as the Furbish troops begin to assist the contractors in offloading the C-37s. It wasn't much, but it would work for now, hopefully. At least for the next few days.

Doo-Nee saw that the URA officer felt annoyed. He didn't understand why, since all he was trying to do is do his job. And his job was to contact the planes and find out why they landed. Doo-Nee did not show how he felt however. In the back, he saw troops unload the planes. All supplies were loaded into a heavily armored truck, which should go in a hidden bunker to be inspected. The soldiers had a few weapons and other instruments hidden, including Geiger counters and FG-AR22's.

The Vymarian troops unloaded into the beach. Most if not all of the beach head was clear, All 50 XM-3s rolled into the beach head, occasionally sending a shot into a machine gun nest. The SETRA troops had managed to kill 500 troops and wound another 500. However it didn't matter, they were to continue into the forest, where they suspected the largest amount of Setra troops would be in. 10 F-16s roared over Kanton, ready to begin bombing the forest with napalm at any moment. The troops began marching into the forest, wary about the incoming SETRA troops

2 HOURS LATER

The forest was quiet, damp and beautiful. Private Henry couldn't help but be in awe as he saw the moonlight break through the leaves and reflect off the ground. The occasional chirp of a bird was also quite calming as well. It was peaceful. Or at least it was. A bullet ripped through the air as it hit his squad lead, penetrating his helmet and coming out the other side, forcing him to hit the floor like a sack of cement. As soon as he hit the floor, the entire woods lit up in gun fire, bullets smacked around him as Henry immediately threw himself down into the ground. The XM-3 tank with its two escort AAV7s opened up into the forest. Henry looked around him as tracer bullets left the XM-3s machine gun, followed by a large blast with its 125mm cannon.

His squadmate, Panetta crawled next to him "Can you see anything!". Henry was about to answer as an RPG ripped into the air and hit the XM-3. The tank shrugged it off, but the shrapnel hit two soldiers just 10 feet away from it. It sent out another shot as it began angling itself to avoid another shot from penetrating it. The two AAV7s started to slowly back away. Then, another RPG pummeled one of the AAV7s, causing it to fill up with smoke. It continued backing away until another RPG hit, blowing off the turret and engulfing the entire vehicle in flames.

Henry at this point couldn't hear anything, all he could do was see. He watched as tracers were received back and forth, explosions being set off and loud yelps of pain and mists of blood filled the cold night air. Henry looked down his ACOG, to find another SETRA troop, he promptly fired, leading to the bullet slamming into the mans left breast. The man, surprised by the hit, turned towards a tree and stumbled away. Panetta let out a large scream as he too began opening fire on the mass amount of SETRA troops. He stopped and turned towards Henry "Henry! you got a cig?". Henry looked at him, confused "A cig?" "Yes! a cig!". Henry promptly lit one and put one into Panetta's mouth as he continued firing.

KPA Expeditionary Forces

The Kuzagi soldiers set up two positions where they placed anti-armour weapons and some artillery as well, after completing this, they would aggressively fire at the Vymarian enemy. The troops attracted attention using a combination of RPGs and ATGMs, though they did not intend to actually destroy the enemy advance, rather they hoped to distract them from the direction of their current offensive. However, their munitions supply was limited, so they aimed to conserve that as well. The positions served as a decoy such that the Vymarians' attention would be drawn elsewhere while the mechanized element of the Kuzagi troops and the SETRA soldiers could flank them, certainly jeopardizing their attack. The rear of the enemy was also being hit with mortars, to discourage infantry and other vehicles from following up and damaging the cohesive ranks of the opponent. However, the point would last very short when directly attacked, which was why most of the equipment were firing from trucks or ready to be moved onto one in less than a minute, such that the troops could make a hasty retreat.

Rockets flew in the face of the attacking enemy, tailed by a beam of brightness covered by smoke, striking against the armour of their tanks with powerful energy and unleashing explosions the height of houses upon impact. Of course, the enemy tanks had countermeasures as well, and many missiles detonated ineffectively mid-air, others were able to hit the tanks, but the ERA had significantly reduced the damage they could inflict. Despite these occasional setbacks, the Kuzagis were satisfied by the performance of their Metis-M missiles and RPG-29 weapons. They intentionally timed gaps between salvos of the missiles to allow the Vymarians to realize where they were being attacked from so they would redirect their offensive. The return fire from several of the hostile tanks hit Kuzagi positions, several soldiers were killed and some launchers were disabled.

Meanwhile, the mechanized part of the Kuzagi force was rallying elsewhere. They were being prepared for an attack from the side that could disrupt heavily the enemy offensive, but for now they were idle, as time had not come yet. There were BTRs with their heavy guns, BRDMs and armed trucks with anti-tank missiles, as well as a platoon of soldiers that would advance behind them operating anti-armour weapons as well. The commander of the column waited patiently in his command vehicle for the signal from the battalion headquarters which would instruct him and his troops to set off to the battlefield, he was now certain as the sounds of the explosions became louder and louder that moment will not be far away.

Doo-Nee: Don't worry. There's a way you can contact Sagala through a special communications system. Let me show you the way.

Captain Shallow rubbed his chin and nodded at the Furbish lieutenant before turning around and yelling across the distance to the planes, "Hey, Trenton! Can you handle things here?" A nondescript man carrying a suitcase in one hand glanced over and raised a thumb up in the air, nodding his understanding. Shallow nodded back and gave him an open-palmed wave, a thank-you to the other contractor. Shallow then glanced back at Lieutenant Doo-Nee and held out his arm, "After you, Lieutenant."

Doo-Nee lead the URA troops to the main building. Luckily, the communications wing was the closest to landing strip C. He dialed the code, and called the base officers about the URA troops. They entered a room with a long table, and a screen on one side. Below the screen there were a few buttons. Doo-Nee pressed a few, and it sent a call to General Boo-Kye.

Off the coast of Matuata
Furbish Islands

Matuata. A place where people suffered, their city besieged by SETRA and their allies. As per royal decree, a contingent of soldiers from the Guianan Imperial Army would be tasked with assisting civilians in the besieged city. The Matuatan forces would fly above rebel-controlled territory before landing in the exclave, providing aid to the citizens.

How they would manage flying aboe rebel territory without getting killed was another story. Onboard the IGNS Essequibo, a River-class minesweeper,
Major Jason Shari was analyzing intelligence reports, maps and everything he could find to assist in the planning of Operation Helping Hand, the operation that would consist of mostly the delivery of aid and other assistance to the people of Matuata.

The Guianan contingent was most likely worse than the rebels in terms of equipment and training. With soldiers equipped with a collection of G3 Assault Rifles, AKMs and M16s, 'standard' was not a word in the Guianan Imperial Army's vocabulary. Not only that, but a soldier's sidearm would be nothing but either a Walther PPK or some cheap and crude local design made by some inexperienced gunsmith of whatever tiny jungle village the soldier was from.

One might say that the Guianan intervention in the Furbish conflict was simply just a political one, to show how much the Guianan government 'cares' about civilians and how willing and committed it is to world peace. This would lead many to wonder why the Guianan government is sending a reserve force that lacks training and equipment to 'help' the civilians of Matuata.

These were the problems faced by Major Shuri. He sat in the bridge while analyzing the information he had. The bridge, meanwhile, was nearly completely silent. The only thing you could hear was the waves crashing against the hull of the ship like thunder on a rainy day.

The Major didn't like noise. He made sure people only talked when they needed to. He thought he had a plan, but he realized the force he was given was not exactly the most prepared and combat-ready force. With the equipment he had, the only plan he had in mind was to slowly bring in men and equipment via air-dropping them.

It seemed like the best way the contingent could get anything done. He placed his golden Artillery Luger-replica on the papers to act as a paperweight while he left his station to meet with the captain of the IGNS Essequibo, Captain Shaik Oswald.

As he approached the captain, he gazed out of the window and watched the rest of the 'fleet'. It was the Essequibo, the flagship, a Kimbala-class LCU, one smaller patrol boat, the Paramaribo and a large cargo ship commandeered by the Guianan Navy, the Trinidad Line. The Trinidad Line was a civilian freighter retrofitted for this mission and carried most of the equipment and soldiers. Even the several aircraft of the air force were loaded into the Trinidad Line.

"Captain, what do you need of me?" asked the Major. The captain nodded and turned his gaze to the direction of the Major.

"Ah yes, Major Shuri. We are approaching the Matuata Base. Tell your men to get ready to disembark, I'm about to ask clearance from the base's administrators to dock. That is when your men will disembark and proceed with whatever you have planned." replied Captain Oswald cooly as he tinkered with the navigating systems.

The major nodded and left, off to inform his subordinates of their new orders. Captain Oswald, meanwhile, was focused on contacting Matuata Island Base and getting docking clearance.

4 HOURS AFTER BEACH LANDING
KANTON
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Henry continued marching on, along with the remaining of what was left of his battalion, which was reduced from 600 troops to 350. The XM-3 tank that had been escorting them had finally struck out. He recalled it getting initially tracked, then pepper sprayed with machine gun fire as to not let the crew get out. Then, another rpg had bit into the tanks side, which was vulnerable to the RPG's terrifying warhead. The tank began to smoke up, then a third RPG came in and sealed the deal, finishing off the tank just before the machine gun nest received a well placed grenade. Now they only had the final AAV7, which everyone made sure to keep a good distance from, as they had learnt the vehicles tended to attract gun fire. In fact, when Henry looked at the faces of the deceased enemies, some seemed to be of different nationality. Some carrying an insignia of a golden bird with a red backdrop. In fact he could've sworn one of them had sent the shot that killed Panetta.

As they had pushed, they collected prisoners, which they unarmed and strapped them on top of the AAV7 as to instill fear into the SETRA troops. One was one of those Golden Eagles, as the troops referred to them as. He had ran out of ammunition and charged at them with a knife, failing in the process and was tied to a tree. He was speaking in some type of foreign language, pleading, crying. Henry didn't seem to care. He answered the cries with punches and kicks, until the man stopped his pleading and went silent.

Henry continued marching, blood trickling down his face from Panetta, dirt in his eyes, and sweat in his palms. He was scared. They all were. Recent calls for the other half of the 10,000 strong army group were on their way, and wouldn't reach their targets until at least an hour, so until then, they were ordered to continue marching into the forest. And so they did.

An all to familiar streak slammed into the tree next to him, shooting tree bits into the air, bursting into his flack jacket and the AAV7 behind him. Almost like routine the entire battalion hit the deck, as more fire came from the dense jungle. The AAV7's heat rounds lit up the dark jungle as trees exploded and collapsed, tracers flying back and forth. And yet again, like clockwork, the mortars began hitting around them, throwing dirt around them, and throwing shrapnel into some of the unlucky troops. One of the commanders radioed into the 10 F-16s flying above them. "Drop the god damned Napalm at the following cords...". One pilot called out "That's fairly close to your cur-"

"Drop them!"

A loud squeal of the Napalm bombs was heard throughout the jungle just before they hit their targets, setting the previously cold jungle into flames and heat. A scream was yelled out as one of the soldiers began charging into the heat, more and more began running into the heat, charging at the discombobulated SETRA troops, firing off shots, stabs and screams.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT SHIP JESSIE

Mortars continuously pummeled the beach head as the Ship returned with the other half of the much needed reinforcements. 5,000 more troops, 100 T99 tanks, 50 ICVs and 20 VX-1 Attack helicopters all road inside the three Ships, awaiting the order to move out. According to the dispatches they got, the enemy had sophisticated Anti-Tank weapons, and had managed to destroy the Main XM-3s. They estimated casualties to now be somewhere in the thousands, with 40 vehicles having been knocked out. Now to the officers inside the boats, it wasn't a matter of winning the island. It was a matter of ending the conflict before the body count racks up to a ridiculous point.

Shallow gave a tight smile and put his hands on his hips, awaiting the Furbish general's answer. Homer had decided he didn't want to be here in his short time in this room. Shallow internally cursed the situation that all presented. He didn't understand geopolitics, and he doubted he ever would. It was a confusing game. Shallow had been a tanker for the Remnant Army before retiring and being hired by the CPD as a unit commander, and he admittedly never understood the political suicide missions the CPD was sent to, usually fighting allies of the URA or supporting rebels that would probably see the URA destroyed had they been the force in power. International Waters
Near South-Eastern Furbish Islands

The Biktar quietly glided through the warm waters of the Central Pacific. Well, not all that quietly, its active sonar swept the area, pinging off objects and scouting its environment. The submarine was the fourth most advanced in the Victoresian fleet. Of the other three, one was undergoing some even more sophisticated upgrades while the other two were occupied with military exercises. Biktar’s claim to fame was its newly built torpedo system featuring a sliding magazine system that doubled the loading speed and theoretically allowed limited auto-loading. The system had its flaws though. The magazine system meant the submarine’s torpedo capacity dropped from 40 to 24.Additionally, since the missiles were thinner than torpedoes, they couldn’t fit in the magazine system as modifying for them would have taken months extra time. The submarine’s only way to launch missiles was to surface, have a guy climb on the sail was a MANPAD, and shoot it at the target. The system really hurt the submarine more than it helped, but it did make direct ship-to-ship action much easier. The Biktar did have another advantage; quietness. During the Great War the primary Victoresian naval tactic was using near silent, blacked out task forces to ambush enemy warships and convoys. The navy had gotten really good at silencing its submarines.

The boats officers gathered in its central command room for one last briefing before leaving international waters. Captain Kihrasa stood in front of her chair, eyeing the small crowd around her. The navy wasn’t what it used to be. When she was a young girl in East Decia, the Victoresian Navy was the most daring branch of the military, launching global expeditions to try and cripple foreign shipping, led by daring old seamen. Nowadays the navy was mostly made up of draftees that didn’t feel like getting blown up by an IED in the violence in the northwest. Most of these officers’ only distinguishing feature from the other submariners was that they were stupid enough to not leave the military when their draft term ended. She still had a speech to give, not that she was much different, all the more important given these officers’ inexperience.

“Comrade, in less than 4 hours we will enter Furbish waters. At that point they technically have the right to turn us into a pile of molten steel. We have specific instructions from the Supreme Soviet and the General Staff to not engage Furbish forces nor to directly support the Communists. We are to investigate the situation in Matuata and send a report back to the General Staff to decide on the course of action. Should the General Staff choose to engage, we will be tasked with covertly making contact with rebel forces. Our current task is to make it to Matuata without getting blown up.”

The crowd dissolved as the officers returned to their stations or to bed. The crew needed to be ready for anything. Kihrasa leaned back in her chair, almost dozing off a few times. As she reached for a sip of her warm tea she felt an arm grab her. Captain, you should probably look at this. To her horror, Kihrasa saw them, a steady stream of blips on the top of the screen.

“Switch off the active, NOW”.

Boo-Kye wrote everything down. He noted that the URA are acting like it is a large scale civil war and that the Furbish and SETRA forces are very even. But he kept the thoughts to himself, knowing that the URA soldiers may feel unwelcome, and not send any support at best, or help SETRA instead. The Furbish military could've easily sent enough marines to end the rebellion quickly, but foreign nations are backing SETRA, and sending that many troops is suicidal. But he wanted to be cautious. Furby Island and the URA are fighting a proxy-war in Bakhara, and by allowing URA supplies in a strategically important military base is the best way to smuggle and detonate bombs. And maybe they can send troops to capture the islands, instead of helping the Furbish like they say they are.

Doo-Nee listened carefully to everything so far, and took some mental notes. He could see fighting from landing strip C's control tower. He saw the outskirts of Matuata from there, and he wanted the fighting to end quickly. He knew that selling or handing out unauthorized foreign weapons in Furby Island is illegal, but he wanted to allow the troops to help fight and finish the war as quickly as possible.

Boo-Kye: I appreciate the fact that you want to help us. Unfortunately, there is a law that prohibits the selling or distribution of any weapons that aren't authorized by the government. But that does not include foreign armies fighting in the country. Other then that, it's all fine. Although I advise against AFV's, since these islands are mostly jungle.

Lākāi City, ΨŦY, the Ctelixīon League

Unified Foreign Minister Ψālon Žecton stood in his office. A nice office in the fairly small city was the place he called his home and workplace. As he gazed out of the window, he picked up a cup and saucer, with a pleasant green tea swirling around the inside. He took a sip. The tea was warm. Not that the day itself was cold, but Žecton had felt certainly colder with the news.

"'Terrorism - Southeast Territories Attacked,'" he read aloud, "'Many dead, war continuing...' I mean, why don't we get some good news for a change?"

He turned around to see a man he knew well, Gecinon Ψapton, behind him, "No-one ever said that Foreign Relations would be a thankful job. We have not the luxury of 'good news'. We just have 'the news', and the news is rarely good in our scope."

"All the same," he said, putting down his tea onto his desk and sitting in the chair opposite to Ψapton, "It would be a nice change. 'Everything Good - No Need to Panic', or something like that. It would give us a break at least."

"You desire a day off?" Gecinon raised an eyebrow, "There's the door, and a life of days off. Walking from this job would net you no new jobs ever again."

Žecton could see the logic in that.

"You are Unified Foreign Minister Ψālon Žecton. You are the voice of the Ctelixīon League," Ψapton handed Žecton a sheet of paper with death tolls, refugee numbers, that sort of thing, "What will you do?"

Despite his wishes for peace and quiet, and his silent protestations as ideas rolled around his head, he took the paper, looking over it. The numbers didn't lie.

"Something must be done."

"And it is you, Ψālon Žecton, who must do it."

Žecton sighed, "We'll send a small humanitarian mission as well as a detachment of diplomats. I don't want to see any more loss of life here."

Ψapton smiled. He knew how to get through to Žecton, and though Žecton could oft notice it, he could never deny it and dismiss his advice.

"I'll send word to the Furbish Islands immed..."

"And the rebels." Žecton crossed his arms. Ψapton knew that if he was anything, he was stubborn.

"Do you want to play both sides? Or are you just trying to make two enemies? These are terrorists - we cannot support them."

"Everyone's a terrorist before they win. Besides, what better way to bring peace than to diplomatically serve both sides."

Ψapton frowned, "You won't be popular in the Executive Council for this. Nor in either of the factions in this war."

"It's understandable," Žecton smiled, "Make the arrangements. You may have outranked me once, but now I'll delegate to you. Send the humanitarian mission to their waters. I want the ears of both of these leaders, and I want peace in their region."

Soon after this, a single military vessel was sent to the Furbish Islands waters under a humanitarian flag. Numerous humanitarian workers, as well as some soldiers from the League's unified military force, a small defence force compared to the member states' armies within the league, mainly to defend the diplomatic workers on the ship itself. When they reached Furbish waters, some of the diplomatic corps would be stationed in Lifulau and some in Sagala. Once both sides agreed to let them into their lands, the real work would begin.

ESTIMATED TIME TO DESTINATION - 2 DAYS, 3 HOURS

Shallow nodded, offering a bit more respect to the Furbish general than he had to the lieutenant. "I understand, General. The URA has very similar laws with firearms, actually. Well, either way, they'll be here. If you can't use them, then we can always have some extra weaponry for our ground units. Or, well, you know how a battlefield is, sometimes regulations are forgotten in the heat of war and crates of weaponry are used before they can be properly vetted," Shallow shrugged and offered a knowing grin. "I get paid to assist either way. Don't worry about the AFV's. Most of what we're bringing are Humvees and Growlers which we can outfit as light support vehicles. The Vulcan SPAAGs will be heavy and I'd count them as AFVs, though. I'd say best we can do with those is keep them here around the base as support, or if there's any heavvy weight-sustaining roads between here and Matuata the city, I'd say we can use them to help in the siege." Homer shrugged once again. "Anyways, thank you for your time, General. The rest of my task force will be here in a few days, and from there, we'll start doing our thing."

You're welcome, asshole, Homer thought to himself as he glanced back at the Lieutenant to leave the room. He knew he was here under orders to keep the civilians safe. That was his only command. The assumption was he should be helping the government keep them safe, but if these Furbish were all dicks like this lieutenant here, then Homer wondered how accommodating SETRA was. Maybe they'd be more appreciative of assistance.
By any means necessary. Call me URA
