Cairo, Star Trek America
1952

The sand dunes in the distance shifted idly unware of the coming storm of war. The Rostilian War had just ended and those who were most affected were still recovering from almost utter decimation. The Empire had not been so drastically effected by the war, and was one of the few governments that wasn't rebuilding entire cities. Still not all was well; while they had never gotten along with the Greater-Russo Spanish Empire; the Empire respected them as a powerful and legimate rival that was until recently when the empire cracked in two; a barely stable monarchy holding together what remained of the old empire and a new, infectous evil. Communism had tainted Rostil already in the form of the Birkainian Union but this new state, this Communist State of Estainia was different. It was organized, powerful and led by a man that even the Emperor could say was a dangerous man.

Yes, the Emperor mused silently to himself as he over looked his sparkling white city. James Patterson was a man not to be underestimated; he fought for and with the Crown of Estainia for years and was a seasoned veteran of combat. Aside from this he was a powerful statesmen who had the support of his people, who would've followed him into anything even into death itself. A healthy man in his fifties he rivaled the Emperor in the physical a fact which further stood testimony to his apparent unrivaled strength and staminia. Apparently he was a genius of the intellectual and military mind as well.

He needed to be; removed. This Communist State could not be allowed to flourish, it could not be allowed to live; in fact it needed to be utterly crushed, and if the Estainian Monarchy could not put down their rebels, the Star Trekian Monarchy would gladly do it for them!

The Emperor had a simple to the point Communique sent to the desk of this James Patterson, it sent a simple message.

Official Communique of the Empire of Star Trek America

To: The Premier of the Estainian Communist State - James Patterson
From: Emperor Jason Shaw III
Subject: Pest Control

To Whom it May Concern;

It has come to the attention of the Star Trekian Crown that the instabilities of the Estainian Monarchy can no longer be efficently handled by the soverign and proper rulers of the Russo-Spanish Empire; there for it has been decided that Star Trek America shall intervene and squash this pathetic Communist Revolution and return the rightful balance of power to the Estainian subcontinent.

Sincerely;
Emperor Jason Shaw III

Valingrad, Estainia - Valingrad Kremlin - 1951

The Empire which had outlasted many nations had finally crumbled. Public discontent grew and the citizenry became less loyal to the monarchy; finally it came to a head in 1947, at the ending height of the Rostilian War with much of The Greater Russo-Spanish Empire in ruins the people had had enough. The mobs stormed the Winter Palace in New Moscow and laid waste to the monuments of the Empire's success. History and Culture hundreds if not thousands of years old was destroyed in an instant while the destroyers laughed like renfield at their accomplishment.

When the rebellion was over the shell shocked imperial government was awakened to the face of a new resolute enemy; their very brothers and sisters and they were in lack of a better word; pissed. Years of strain and strife had finally taken it's toll, the Greater Russo-Spanish Empire was no more; in it's wake had risen the spectre that was communism, and under the Red Banner the Communist State of Estainia would rise to the world stage.

Of course there were those who did not agree with this besides the Russo-Spanish Empire; the Star Trekian Empire thought it was a generally horrible idea along with unspoken others; it was however only Star Trek America who would ever decide to do something about it early on, when others would've actually had a chance. The Communique that sat on the oak desk before a middle aged man with thinning gray hair told the Star Trekian story entirely.

James Patterson read the communique with sad blue eyes, the glistening irises over taking the words with an ease that illuminated a well educated man. The Star Trekian Empire was old and powerful by comparison his own state was young barely five years old and relatively weak.

Patterson had no doubt in his mind that the Star Trekians were serious enough, which forced him into a situation most perilious. On one hand his barely trained army of frontline conscripts(merely the term Estainians use for frontline infantry) was busy still stamping out elements of the Imperial Army in his own state; though they were small by now(four years did that) they were enough of a threat to create a headache, and if they were to join up with the Star Trekians, they had enough intricate knowledge of how the Estainian countryside played out that they could make his life a living hell. On the other hand he was facing a professional army of battle hardened veterans that would kill without a second thought and had done so very recently. He also knew they had one of Rostil's most competant naval forces and by comparison Patterson had at his disposal little more than a single battleship and an odd handful of destroyers.

They also had that new fangled jet-engine technology that was devolped by pretty much everyone but Estainia during the late stages of the Rostlian War where as Estainia had aging P-40 propplanes and a few more advanced P-51d propfighters. Both were capable planes but the P-40 couldn't keep up with better props much less jet-engined craft. The P-51d had taken down jet-engine craft but that had been before they were continously devolped. It was safe to say that Patterson was basically screwed if Star Trek America actually made landfall, so with that in mind he would have to do the best he could to keep them in the water and then push back through to take the fight to American soil.

For now though he just sent a counter-communique and a high-alert order to the armed forces.

Official Communique of the Estainian Communist State

To: Emperor Jason Shaw III
From: Premier James Patterson
Subject: Fair warnings.

Emperor, I hope this letter finds you well but obviously we both know that I have not sent it for good hopes and wishes. If you so dare to declare war upon Estainia, then we will justly defend ourselves in accordance. I say unto you good sir that you should remember we are very proficent at annihilating monarchies. Consider yourself officially answered, We are at War.

Best of luck;
James S. Patterson

The Emperor scoffed slightly as he viewed the communique from the insignificant communist state. They would fall, their pathetic rebellion would distergrate, and the Empire would expand. When victory was final and the world looked upon the Empire; would they stop? No. They'd continue into the heart of their older enemy; the utter destruction of the Estainian Empire in all of it's incarnations that would be the final goal of the American Empire!

The Emperor ordered the army assembled, the navy readied and the airforce prepared. The Empire was going to war.

Alexandria, Star Trek America
Operation: Undermine

Here the armies of the Empire would pour forth across the plains of Estainia. Here the supplies would come from, here the troops would board the ships leading to the Communist State. From here, the fall of Estainia would become reality. Two Yorktown-classAircraftcarriers were being laborously loaded with F-86 Sabre Jet-fighters, brand new technology that would take the traditionalist overtly outdated Estainians by utter surprise.

Along with this naval airwing various ships of differing sizes were being prepared for launch along with the lingering and soon to be replaced frontline ship of the American navy; The USS-Empire was an Iowa-class Battleship, one of four were all that remained of the Star Trekian Battlefleet; everything else had been switched over to Destroyers, Frigates or Carriers; this was due to the grueling punishment the American fleet suffered during the Battle of the Estainian Sea against the Estainian Battleships a battle the Empire barely won thanks to the effort of one of the very Yorktowns at harbor right that moment, the USS-Enterprise; it was then that the Empire realized that Battleships had become officially and utterly useless. Carriers could put out more firepower and at a greater range than any battleship in existence. It was a new concept that the Empire hoped to become leaders in, a concept that Estainia specficially was staunchly against.

Regardless it didn't matter, point in being was that technology supplied an advantage, an advantage the Empire was more than willing to use against the idiot traditionalists. It would take several days for the Empire to sortie entirely for the war, but it was of little concern because Estainia was recovering from both a World War and a Civil War that further crippled it.

The Port of Monticello - Eastern Estainia
Circa 1951

In the Harbor was a poor excuse of a navy, battle scarred and half-repaired or half-sunk was what remained of the Estainian Imperial Fleet; everything that wasn't Communist or Destroyed had left to the West years before. Three Battleships, two dozen Destroyers and four Frigates were all that was left of a once neigh-invincible fleet.

Estainia hadn't adjusted well to the coming of this new fangled 'naval aviation' and didn't plan on adjusting to it either; they'd compensated their lack of these 'aircraft carriers' for more anti-air fire among their Destroyers and Frigates as well as installing emplacements on the battle fleet and so far it had been effective.

Still, even with these additions the Estainian Fleet was but a shadow of it's former self; what once dominated the Rostilian Seas now stayed barely afloat, rent apart by a world war and then doubly hit by a civil war what remained was scattered and divided over a subcontinent and two ideologies that varied greatly. Not exactly a good time for division and despite the letters Empress Natalia was of no interest in assisting what she referred to as a 'rebel faction'.

So James Patterson rallied what forces he could and prepared to hold off the inveitable assault from the American Empire; he knew better than to try to hold back their navy in the open ocean so instead opted to hold out against his own shores; he also ordered the construction of a defensive system along the coast along with the 600mm Oblivion Siege Guns that the Empire had left behind unfortunately he only had four of the monsters for now with another two under construction but those would literally take years to complete.

It was an unavoidable fact that as the Red Army built defenses across the nation and fortified bridges and collapsed the few auto-bahns that were around; the Americans were going to touch down, it was just a matter of how many would be left.

Three Days Later - The Sea of Estainia

Massive was the fleet set out to annihilate the pathetic Communist rebels on the eastern half of the Estainian Sub-Continent; 2 Fleet Carriers, 1 Light Carrier, 200 Destroyers, 150 Frigates and 50 Submarines clogged the Sea of Estainia with a single driven purpose, the utter annihilation of the Communist rebels, if for nothing more than territorial gain; so far not sight nor sound of any Estainian vessel had been seen, the fleet could see the outline of the continent in the distance, seventy-five long miles away. Seventy Five...They slid in further to sixty with the coastline's very fringes becoming visable, fifty five, fifty. Then the Rain started; literal and figurative.

While water drown the American fleet; shells began falling into their midsts; massive 600mm artillery shells that were shattering Destroyers like they were nothing; Frigates were brushed aside and troop ships were blasted from the water like a child's play thing. This horrendous downpour of metallic death could only becoming from the gigantic Estainian Siege Guns, mutated horrifically powerful battle turrets designed with the singular purpose of keeping everything that wasn't Estainian, out of Estainia. So far they were doing a bang up job, ship after ship slid into the water as the hours past but the shoreline got all the closer...It was only a matter of time and lives before the Americans landed on Estainian soil.

The massive explosions were deafening to human ears; the monolithic siege guns firing as quickly as possible to hold at bay the American fleet. 600mm Shells rained down from the sky like divine judgement striking down the enemies of the State. Still the Americans got closer, 30 miles, 25...

Then the rain began and oh did it rain. From the turrets of the Eastern battleships came the 10 and 18 inch shells from the ENS-Patterson and the ENS-Wilkinson, they drowned out the sounds of the fleet around them as their cannons put out as many shells as humanly possible, American ship after American ship was shattered against the wave of ceaseless metal slugs. They came baring down upon them soon though, and American planes filled the skies as they entered operational range. F-86 Sabres harrased the mighty battleships with rockets and cannon; small Destroyers and Frigates doing their utmost to keep little more than pesky flies away from the monoliths.

Still the shells fired, planes were hit and distergrated under the force of the explosion and more ships still sank beneath the waves. Then there was a sudden silence from both the siege guns and the navy...They were out of shells. The Destroyers and Frigates and Anti-Air Fire kept going but the bombardment ended rather suddenly. There was no stopping the American fleet now...The two battleships slid out of the harbor they were in and forced their engines all the faster to literally escape the coming storm of aircraft and rockets.

On the shore the massive siege guns were being dismantled so they could be transported to safety, bunkers and pill boxes were thrown up along the open beaches and half-settled conctrete walls were lined with machineguns.

"Eastern Battleships escaping to the sou-south east Sir, pursue?" The pilot of an F-86 Sabre reported dutifully to his flight commander.

'Negative on that pursuit, pilot. Keep up the harrassment on the enemy fleet, our navy will get those big bastards.' The flight commander responded over radio. The six F-86's were but a few in the wave of 40 launched from the combined efforts of the USS-Enterprise and the USS-Independance; half of which were F-86's, the other half of which were Corsair prop-planes; top-of-the-line propeller driven craft that could still compete with jet engines; for now. The Estainian Navy, comprised of this point mostly of old and outdated Frigates and Destroyers were swept aside by the few American battleships amongst the fleet who took great pleasure in utterly obliterating the smaller vessels. The Iowa's then turned their 18 inch guns to the Estainian shore; for the second time in under a decade and unleashed a torrent of fire after a silent pause as gun crews adjusted the turrets and barrels of the ships.

The ripple of fire exploded from the Iowa's as the Estainian's remaining ships limped out to sea hoping to escape the long arms of the Imperial Naval Air Force. Their massive shells impacting the shoreline, decimating fortifications and incinerating men and vehicles who had the unfortunate luck to be hit by the unguided bombardment. This off shore bombardment would continue for three hours, three devestatingly long horrific hours that would determine just how much resistance the Marines would face when they landed.

Three Hours Later - Monticello Beach

Three hours had done a number on the barely defended beaches, pill boxes lay spilled open, directly hit by huge shells which blasted them apart. T-34 tanks were laying direlict in the sand and along the beach, blown apart by shells or explosions from them. Few defenders were alive but they were still determined to fight off the Americans as best they could with little more than bolt-action rifles and machineguns at this point. When the Higgins-boats were clearly seen in the water the Estainian defenders knew that it wouldn't be long before they were put to the test of basically: how long they could last before the Americans over ran their positions.

Monticello Province - East Estainia

Some 200 Higgins-class infantry carriers landed on the beaches of Monticello; ramps slammed down to the greetings of cold metallic death as machinegun bullets and rifle rounds slammed into the American Marines as they fought for ground on the beach. M-1 Garand's fired with not so much accuracy as desperation in trying to suppress the enemy. Browning Automatic Rifles attempted to give some reprive by returning fire against the eastern machineguns. Still the battle if it could be called that was short lived; as the beaches filled up the Easterners numbers started to dwindle and those who remained either fought to the death or surrendered. It would be some time before the Imperial Army could break out from the Monticello beach head, four towns and Monticello itself stood in the way of this utlimate goal, but with the superior training, equipment and morale of the Imperial Army it wasn't expected to be more than three months in the breakout campaign.

Three Months Later - Monticello Provice

It had taken three months; like the Americans predicted for their flag to fly over Monticello and it did. It had been a long time since another flag flew over an Estainian city; even during the Rostilian War the Americans hadn't successfully taken one of them lock stock and barrel. The last time a foreign army occupied an Estainian city was during the Beusuadillian War and that was only due to the brutality and slow movement of trench warfare. Now these posh sandmen lorded over the Port of Monticello like it was their own. Men were executed daily and crimes against women were brutal and common. Communist Forces still held a line between Monticello and the rest of the country but the province was firmly in American hands; American Shermans prepared to blitz the lines against the Communists much smaller tank divisions and well it would probably work but all the same it wasn't like the Americans were going to march into Valingrad in a day. Supplies weren't getting through on behalf of the navy and spies in Cairo were making that job much easier indeed.

Still without assistance or a miracle it wouldn't long before East Estainia was singing God Bless the Emperor.

Monticello Province, East Estainia

No miracle would come for the Estainians; No army nor angel or even God himself would stand before the Communists to shield them from the full brunt of the American Army. A line of tanks formed a wall of steel between the Estainians and their captured harbor; a line that would push through the lines at Estainograd and push onward to Valingrad within a predicted four months. Divine Wrath had come in the form of Star Trekian armored divisions; the spear of righteous monarchy would scatter the pathetic communist hordes and brush them aside to a mere side-chapter of history.

The order came and the Shermans poured foward; supporting infantry came up behind them and Half-tracks of various uses followed them up. The Americans were coming.

"Miracles are for those who believe in God. There is no God. FORWARD!" - Unknown

Estainograd - East Estainia
One Week Later:

The city lay in ruins around them, historical buildings and fortifications lain waste to by the American Artillery. But still there was life within the decimated ranks of the city. Communist Infantry still fought an embittered enlongated siege for the control of their city and the fate of their country. Men and Women fought side by side to halt the Fascist charge. Valingrad was but a stones throw away where the Premier stood directing the battle strategies personally from on top the Kremlin Walls. Hope was sparsely found as ammunition krept lower and lower; which is about the time the Estainians became quite entrepurning and collected American M-1 Garands. An infinite supply of Ammunition readily avaiable every time a Trekie got his face blown off.

Tanks were sparse few in the city on the Communist side, replaced instead by the Belkan Panzershreck and American Bazooka which were busy annihilating Sherman Fireflys. Air support flew over every now and then in the form of old Bearcats and P-51 Mustangs. The occasional and more numerous P-40 was also present about every two hours or though. Still the lines held; through determination, valour, brutality, what ever it was that kept them from running it was doing a damn good job of it. It was pretty simple though; This is My Land And You're On It.

Estainograd - East Estainia
1951

This new enemy proved to be resolute; unmoving to the American advance as they attempted to push through the city. This enemy had proven that they would fight to the death for every last inch and rock the Americans gained as they pushed forward. With rifle, with bayonet, with their bare hands they had had to choke the life out of Estainian defenders who simply would not surrender. Admirable but foolish. This wasn't Hostile Terrain though like the Americans were getting used to back home against the rising power of the World Liberation Army; this was different. These were men who were no more loyal to the Communist government than the Americans were; but still they fought with such vigor and zeal, Patriots.

While the army lost men on taking Estainograd, the navy was busy hunting down the remains of the East Estainian Navy; which at this point consisted of two battleships...
