Toglan Fortress

The NEF center of the base was filled with movement as engineers prepared the Grimm Reapers for combat, after a few minutes the first few squadrons of Reapers where in the air and they began to intercept some of the missiles and bombers, the Grimm Reapers are interesting aircraft as they are largely equipped with incendiary weapons and missiles, another part is that they are also VTOL. The problem was that there was only twenty of these fighters around, all of which had come from their destroyer.

Meanwhile in the secured bunker of the Fortress the Senior captain was viewing the map and the current situation, soon an aide walked over and handed him a data pad detailing the location of the strike platforms (recalculating their launch trajectories and estimating where they could be), with this information he ordered all fighters to break off and cover the five Anubis bombers. The fighters broke off of their interception duty and started to carve a path to a nearby launch site, on the walls of the Fortress NEF troops manned the few AA emplacements and long range artillery pieces. Some of the Troopers had gotten a idea of why not using an artillery gun as a temporary AA emplacement, however most used it to fire as close as possible to the launch sites.

Western Archipelago

"The human population of the NEF did come from Earth, however it was rendered uninhabitable after a war." She said "In the year 2556 a group of of PMCs declared war on all nations on Earth, at this point there had been no wars in the past 500 years.....the war was short and brutal....millions dead and misplaced. Two years of war, destruction, and violence....." paused as he turned toward the officers and shipgirl "In 2558 the last gunshot was fired, last life taken, last mother cried. How? The PMC group dropped a high yield WMD into the core of Earth, if it wasnt for the precautionary moves of most nations on Earth, the NEF wouldn't have have existed. The resulting battle that took place to stop the WMD was massive....billions of soldiers fought in it....and all of them died." The hologram then switched to the surface of Mars and Luna, this time with small domes and buildings littering the surface "Years later after our exodus to Luna and Mars another war erupted this time over resources and military might....the Federation, the pre-cursor name to the NEF won this war. After that all nations agreed, Sol was lost....so we left....that is what we are taught in school about the beginnings of the NEF."

NEF Hells Fury

"Mm, I see, where are you located?" said the Captain however the two Troopers tensed up as they looked at the General, their helmets picked up the increase in body temperature. Both seemed to look at each other and then back at the general in confusion, they where unsure if the rise in body tempature was normal or not but one of them stepped forward

"Are you sure you are alright general? Do you need medical attention?"

Outside Alters

The Sergeant looked at the group as they lowered their weapons, he looked back at his squad and then at the line. The Senior Corporal clicked on her radio and spoke to him
"Sir, the translation software is picking up bits of Nordic in their language...maybe it's some sort of dialect?"

"Possibly, however we can't be sure....we might say something and their interpretation would be different...let's go with non verbal communication"

"Copy"

The sergeant shrugged as he lifted his helmet off and showed his face, he was a human. He placed the helmet under his arm and gave a slight 'hello' wave to the militiamen, then he took off his pistol and rifle. Which he placed on the ground and took to steps forward, before he extended his hand in a handshake.

Toglan Fortress

The howling of sirens echoed across Toglan Fortress and it's surrounding facilities. As an aide stormed into the conference room "Confirmed boogies on direct fly-course to our position, ca fifteen min away, yes several waves. Supersonic spreed, low altitude.Orbital survaillance confirms high actvitiy on several lesrunii airbases.... preparing defenses, evacuate all non necessary personal inside the fortified areas.. we have also confirmed reports of several missile launchs, apparently conducted form mobile missile launchers..."

He turned around, several heavy explosions rocked the building, the walls shaked. Nobody spoke a word. They knew. It had just begun.

Onboard DOKARI, heavy class-V voidcruiser

Irene walked relaxedly down the ramp as the shuttle had landed in one of the Dokari's huge hangers, she was once again in her element. The esterian prince and now monarch - and vassal to the Principality - looked frightened at the gloomy and alien interior of the spaceship. He'd still hadn processed the events of the past days. No rest was given.

Two uniformed guards guided him politely away towards his quarters, which were little better than some bunks. Their smiles and grips could have given him the impression that he was more a prisoner than a guest. It was a spartanic room, with a metallic table in the center, some chairs, a bed and lockers. The material looked old and used, but at the very same time robust as it had stood the test of time. The light was dim. At the wall there was a huge window. There was nothing outside but sheer darkness, with a button the window - if it was a true one - closed itself. He felt a sudden sickness and walked towards the sink and looked into it...

After a time, it could have been hours or days, he woke up. He was laying onto the bed, what had happened, where he was? Then the memories set back in up and it felt they where grapping his throat, his whole life had been destroyed in a day. Suddenly, grief and hopelessness overcame him as now that he was alone, he realized the events of the past Days to the fullest extend. That his life would never be the same again, he had lost his family, his home... he felt completly alone, lost in space. The walls seemed to close in, surround him, fall upon him and bury him. His soul tried to cling somewhere, but instead they fell into an abyss that seemed bottomless. He turned around in bed.

"Knock knock! Beeeep!"

Turning around. A door slid open, light entered the dimmed room and a silhouette stood in the center. "Good morning your majesty, my name is Nelana. I am to take care of your personal well being" He remembered her, she was one of the Dushan that had stolen his girlfriend in front of his eyes. The same, leather like and yet bizarrely alien like outfits, which wrapped on her top, long overknee socks... or boots. It was difficult to tell, but no gloves this time.

He noticed now the slightly metallic element that seemed like a facepaint or barbaric tatoo at the first glance, but was yet of a different complexitiy. Her skin seemed also to be... unusual. He recalled what Irene had been saying to him earlier as he stared at their bodies and the bloodsoaked swords with a cold smug smile "We're Dushan" as if this would need no further explaination at all. The old Legends were well known, but the reality was a different, no less frightening one.

"I hope everything is to your pleasure!" Nelana bowed forward, exposing her remarkable décolletage to him as she placed a table with food and what seemed to be a breakfeast on the desk in front to him. The smell of coffee and food attracted him, yet some of the things on the table he had never seen. There were thick, wormlike beings! No such food would ever made it to a civilized esterian's table. Nelana seemed to to sense his confusion. "They're tasting very nice, much proteins. They were deep-fried by our chef, you should taste them!" she spoke with her thick dushani accent as she dipped the creature into a sauce, demonstratively eating it in front of him.

The crispy being cracked between her teeth as she seemed to devour its essence. "It's almost like fried chicken" she giggled.

It would take a while to get used to dushani customs... and cuisine.

Well, that figures. Nobody on the squad had any translation software on them, nor was it a language any of them remotely recognized, anyway. In any case,
who appeared to be the leader of the unknown force was making peaceful gestures, and so the Militiaman in charge of the facility mirrored his counterpart's actions, laying his revolver on the ground and returning the handshake. This put the other people of the squad at ease, similarly lowering their guard. Even if they hadn't established reliable communication yet, they had at least avoided killing each other.

1st Destroyer Flotilla

Well, the hail had been responded, and miraculously in a language the comms officer understood. He relayed the message aloud, and...

RO. Liner: "I'm sorry, did she just say the responding vessel is a cruiser? I may be quite tired, but that radar signature isn't a Cruiser, that's a Torpedo Boat at bes-"

Stering: "Liner." *ahem* "Comms, relay this message to the signals: 'Light Cruiser Natori, you are currently approaching Einnfiti territorial waters at speed. Please state your intentions.'" Quickly scanning the deck for her First Mate, she continues: "I need you to pull up any information we have on Hashirajima, it's not familiar to me." Turning back to the comms: "Once you're done sending that message to the Natori, send a message to the rest of the flotilla directing them to form up in a line and ready their guns."

Liner: "Excuse me, Captain, but the signatures should now be in visual range."

On hearing this, the captain grabs a pair of binoculars (old fashioned, I know), steps out of the bridge, and looks East in the direction of what was a self-proclaimed cruiser, but more likely just a lifebo-

Liner's jaw dropped as she looked out and saw what appeared to be the outline of five PEOPLE approaching across the water...

Omineca Ocean

There is a small yet powerful civilization under the ocean water. They are known as Oceanids (Sea Human-Dragon) or Dominator of Omineca, they own big portion of Omineca but also the smallest in terms of population size. Lately, numerous entities from various origin has shown up, entering Oceanids Naval Zone without a permission. Admiral of the Navy grow wary of those entities trespassing his homeland and dispatched three Hydronauts into the ocean surface.

ONS Bahamut

Hydronaut.. really advanced multirole sumbarine, a cleary masterpiece of Oceanids Naval arts. In submerge mode, most of Hydronaut class are nearly undetectable (with exception of Heavy Hydronaut due to typical buzzing sounds from the engine). when surfaced, it can eject special smoke that can remove themselves from enemy detection and visible spectrum.
ONS Bahamut, the leading ship.. naval crown of Omineca, accompanied by two smaller Hydronauts. Their mission is to drive out trespassers by all means. As the Hydronauts surfaced, they start deploying smoke (Look like small storm) and waiting for trespassers to come near them.

Tethys Ocean

Slowly the HLS Zanriel, a heavily modified cruiser of the Royal Esterian Navy, resembling the Belknap-class cruiser moved across the waters, on patrol course at the western ocean located between Les-run and the Nagashima chain isles.

Commander Anne Algost slowly sipped her cup of Coffee as she relaxed in the huge chair in her cabin. There was a huge amount of activity today, the news from the Homeland were disturbing and confusing. Duke Zeron had been reportedly assassinated and a emergency council had assumed power. The reports were conflicting and rumors were floating around that the Dushan had been returned. The Military had been set into high alert, but they were sailors far from home.

The Helicopter was on ASW patrol. Algost had a bad feeling about this, in the far distance the first Isles of the chain appeared. Of course, the Zanriel kept out of the terretorial waters. It seemed to be a calm day. For now.

Toglan

The sky was erupting with the constant sound of gunfire and explosions as fighters and AA emplacements tried to fight off the never ending waves of Lesrunian bombers. NEF Grimm Reapers where given the Lesrun fighters and bombers a run for their money as the small force began to carve through the waves, however casualties where mounting as the sheer number of fighters was overpowering the NEF aircraft, nevertheless the NEF forces managed to make several dents and hand bombed a few of the missile trucks knocking them out of commission. After their bombing runs and escort duties the NEF aircraft retreated back to the fortress for rearmament and repairs, this would put them out of action for some time and limit their air superiority which was a critical factor in NEF doctrine, but they lacked the aircraft that was necessary for a prolonged air battle. Something that a carrier would be very much effective in. Across the board it seemed that the NEF and Dushan forces where outgunned at every turn but this could be a good thing as this meant that they where fighting against the wall, a wall that was very well defended and well armed.

Inside the Fortress things where a bit chaotic as NEF Troopers moved to their defensive positions around key junctions and key locations. That the main barricade it was a wall of steel grey armor and deep blue visor color, behind them was several MG emplacements and Dushan forces as they waited for the invaders to break in several of them began to socialize with the other defenders, but it seems that their confrontation with the Lesrunii soldiers would have to wait as the Lesrunii have a date with the outside walls of the fortress.

Comm Relay

The Comm Relay was now starting to heat up as Lesrunii Regular Army soldiers showed up and apparently they wanted to tussle with the NEF company there. Unlike the last few engagements they weren't fighting conscripts but proessfional soldiers, which several Troopers where looking forward to as they wanted a real fight not the quick slug fight, the Troopers quickly dug in and waited for the soldiers to move up where they opened fires with their M83s first. It was something you see out of a move as soldiers where blown in half as the 9.80mm HEAP FMJ rounds penetrated their armor and bodies at 2.4k/ms. In the back the IFVs clattered away providing heavy fire support until the Lesrunii tanks arrived which where met by a few rocket launchers.

"Sergeant of Alpha squad! I want more suppressing fire on the right flank keep those infantry suppressed until we destroy those tanks, I rather not be overran by infantry and tanks at the same time." Bellowed the lieutenant as she peered through her binoculars at the right flank, she then heard a sharp reply and soon more firepower opened up. She smiled as the area became littered in pocket marks and thermite ignitions, she wasn't a sadistic bastard she just wanted to keep the infantry out of the fight until they dealt with the tanks which where a bit of a bigger and move valuable target.

DOKARI

The heavy footfalls of the Paladin echo through the hallway as he walked down the ship, with his mission compete he decided to stay on the ship for awhile until he was called back. He was shown his room where he placed his weapons and placed his helmet on the table, he then sat down in the chair for a few minutes before he picked up his rifle and removed the magazine. He placed it on the table and pulled the bolt handle back, picking up the ejected round he slid it back into the magazine, after that he switched it to safe. He would do the same with his pistol and left both on the table, he then called up one of the maids,

"Can I have some assistance removing my armor"

Alters

After the handshake the Senior Coporal walked up to the sergeant and talked to him, they talked about trying to communicate via words and what the response might be. However the most important thing was that they needed to rendezvous with the rest if the battalion, the sergeant looked at the Militia captain and spoke

"AI what is the closest language that they are speaking to"

"ANALYIZING........89% MATCH FOUND, NORDIC LANGUAGES" replied the AI on the private channel

"Hello, I am Sergeant Jameson of the New Earth Federation....we are here to help you with the volcanoes." He said as he spoke the helmet automatically translated it into Nordic.

[Location: Eastern Ocean]

Peering out from below the whale they were hitching a hike on, the submarine shipgirl currently called Hitomi (or, if one wants to get technical, I-13) narrowed her eyes at the shadow that cruised overhead. Her sister, Iyo (or I-14), idly floating along behind her, gestured to her before heading up. The two girls surfaced to find themselves a good distance behind the vessel they're tracking.

"HQ, we've got a ... probably cruiser here. Looks awfully like a USN guided missile cruiser, though I'm pretty sure there isn't a USN to speak of back home."

"Any air assets accompanying the vessel?"

"One heli, unknown variety."

"Keep an eye on them. We'll sortie Crudiv 7 over."

[Location: Western Ocean]

"Natori, those destroyers seem to be assuming line ahead formation, and I'm seeing weapons being activated. Guns." As Hatakaze finished that statement, a series of clicks indicated that her fellow destroyers were also readying weapons.

Idly loading her guns, Natori nodded. "Hold fire for now. I'm seeing a surface disturbance northwards. Seems to be smoke, except that my plane hasn't spotted anything that can actually burn up til now." Sparing the growing smoke column another glance, the cruiser tersely replied to the Cremsly. "We're tasked to perform a reconnaissance expedition in this... ocean. It is not our intention to intrude upon territorial waters. Any charts indicating said waters will be appreciated. Side note, are we the only ones seeing that smoke column up north?"

[Location: HS Zenryu]

"Human population, you say." mused Arisu. Idly, she glanced at the message that just arrived on her tablet. 'Northern Expeditionary Command has arrived. Setting up facilities on main island.' "This should be more convenient for Mikasa, then."

This snapped the shipgirl's attention back to the present conference. "... right. In that case, if my guess is correct, you guys should have a decent collection of... about half of my career. Assuming someone backed up Wikipedia. Look up the article on Japanese battleship Mikasa. Imperial Japanese Navy, built 1899–1902, in commission 1902–1923."

At the side, Vice-Admiral Koharu was busy stiffling her laughter. "Only you will do a self-introduction using Wikipedia..."

Looking over at her fellow naval officer, Mikasa shrugged. "It's convenient. Anyway... that was me - as a ship. Now, to digress a bit to Hashirajima's history... we were essentially the Imperial Japanese Navy. Though, and this is where I suspect we diverge from your historical records, we disagreed with WWII. So we effectively left the Empire of Japan, hanging on just to defend them when the Army inevitably brought the great vengeance and furious anger of the US on us. We still lost, but due to a little legal loophole, was spared the whole post-war bits. Then on, the four naval districts of the IJN went our separate ways, as independent nations.

"Now, if you're familiar with social norms back then in the 1900s, there are very little, if any, female members of the military. Less so with navies due to the nature of life on board a ship. So Hashirajima, or... formerly Kure Naval District, had a bit of a population issue. Someone, we're really still not sure who, had the bright idea of messing with the supernatural to solve that. It didn't really work due to a variety of reasons we're still figuring out til this day, but they managed to summon old ships as ... well, us. Shipgirls. Or kanmusu, as some would prefer. Fleet daughters.

"So, to sum it up... yes. I am a pre-dreadnought. The one who shelled the Russian Baltic Fleet to hell and back at Tsushima. Well met."

Needless to say, the Captain simply refused to believe what she had seen theough the binoculars. She must have... food poisoning! That caused illusions... right? In any case, Stering returned to her Comms officer rapidly translating the message he had recieved from the Natori, turning to the Captain and relating the message. For a minute, she stood there, before taking a quick look out and around for the aforementioned smoke column, spotting it after a good couple seconds.

Stering: "Liner? There's some massive smoke clouds approaching from the, eh... North-West? You got anything on Radar?"

RO Liner: "No sight of anything, just the Natori, her accompaniment, and the 1st Flotilla... actually, wait, I am getting a large area of interference, probably that smoke."

Stering: "Alright... let the Natori know that we will be transmitting the maps as soon as possible, and to, eh... wait where they are. That smoke on the horizon is clearly hiding something, even if we don't know what, and from what I could see when looking off the deck, it'd be better they don't get too close to whatever ship is producing that much smoke. After that, send out an all-frequency hail in the smoke's direction, and then go ahead and send an alert to High Command, stating that we have had one confirmed border incursion by a non-hostile force, and one unconfirmed incursion by a second, unknown force."
Turning to address the Weapons operators, she continues:
"Unfocus weapons on the original contacts, retrain them on the smoke. I know we don't know what's in there yet, but it seems a lot more dangerous and hostile than the Natori. Got all that?"

Various "Yes sir/ma'am"s are heard throughout the deck as the just as various addressed crew begin their assigned tasks; the first time contact had been made with any mainlander in decades, and it came upon two different forces within minutes of each other... it was certainly turning out to be an odd day.

Needless to say, the Lieutenant in charge was incredibly surprised when the leader of the unknown force- now identified as Sergeant Jameson of the New Planetary Federation suddenly began speaking in a language not all that different from Mreinn, albeit trading about a few consonants... however, it was enough to get the basic gist of what they were trying to say. Something about helping with the volcanoes...

Militiaman: "Well, eh, if you want to help with our Volcano problem, I guess you do look like you have the tech for it. I'll, eh, see what I can do to get you in contact with our Military Command proper, or at least the scientific facility in charge of making sure the Volcano doesn't go up under our feet..."

The Lieutenant briefly considers continuing, before deciding to stop rambling and let the NEF's translator work.

Command Center, ONS Bahamut

The ship itself controlled by an artificial intellegence, it is just her and other two A.I from smaller hydronauts. Bahamut-class Heavy Hydronaut was designed to give the enemy fleet a real punch, packed with various lethal weapons (From Guided missile system to Energy weapons). Bahamut surveyed the area and signaled the other hydronauts to be aware with entities.

Western Archipelago

"Interesting, so you are part human and part warship? Has this also been tried in space ships or any other military equipment? Also for the most part your history seems to be an alternate route of our WWII history, which is interesting. The NEF has long theorized the idea of alternate realties and has tried to take some steps to entering these realties and discovering what is different about them. Anyway, it seems that you have landing in a very interesting location given that this archipelago is located in the middle-ish area of the western Ocean, the NEF is willing to enter into a non-aggression pact as well as a limited trade agreement to help set up your colony." she them pulled out a holographic map of the world and a highlighted blue section appeared in the northern bay of the world. "This is our colony location, its a decent colony size by NEF standards, we have been here for about 2 years give or take. I also assume you would like a research agreement? Also, any questions about the NEF?"

Outside the HQ, the NEF troopers walked around a few on patrol others just casually, like everything was normal. They where quite respectful and well disciplined one could say robotic, however they where quite human at the same time. A few of them answered questions that they Hashirajima soldiers had as well as asked a few questions about their country in return, others compared weaponry, armor, tactics, etc.

NEF Hell's Fury

"I see, so you are on the other side of the world? As for cooking something good, defining good is up to one self....food on this ship could be classified as decent as given that this a military ship we have limited space and have to focus on feeding about very hungry sailors each day under the pressure of being attacked for every second. But you are more then welcome to go and try the food down in the galley Ill have two troopers escort you down to the galley if you so wish" he replied he then thought to himself These people are werid, however we know very little about their government or their culture. Mm, maybe it would be a good idea to get more information.. he paused and then spoke "Any questions about the NEF?'

Alters

Listening to the militiaman the Trooper nodded as he spoke, the translator did its best to translate everything but their was a few words lost in translation but he got the general idea, the militiaman got the idea that they where here to help with the volcanoes and it was even better that he suggested that they get in contact with a nearby science facility as their job was to determine the situation and suggest ideas and tactics of stopping the flow.

"Lets go with the science facility, we are a engineering squad after all"

On the other side of the Island a squad NEF troopers began to push towards the line of where the volcano was, they had taken the lost obvious route that would have put them incontact with cities along they way. As they arrived they walked though the local town and their objective was the main government building as they needed to know the situation, as for another squad they decided to push through the cities and determine what the hell was going on. But they encountered some barriers when they arrived at the first city...mostly everyone running away and when the police came they attempted communications.

The Iapetan Reach (1) -IC-Reboot-

Postby Hashirajima » Sun Aug 13, 2017 9:10 am

[Location: Hashirajima Space Agency Launchsite 001, Main Island]

Watching the mission control room break out into cheers as the rocket - and its satellite payload - successfully reach orbit, Yuubari turned towards the girl beside her.

"So, what's your decision?"

Kaguya glanced down at the plain envelope, bearing the logo of the Hashirajima Space Agency, and frowned. "It's a large change, though. And so sudden."

"Don't worry. We'll be here for you, 'kay? Besides, I heard Ohsumi's coming too. Her boss finally green-lighted her sabbatical, so she'll be here to help, too."

"A-alright, then. Please take care of me!" Kaguya bowed.

Chuckling, Yuubari patted the girl on the head. "Welcome aboard!"

[Location: HS Zenryu]

"Interesting, so you are part human and part warship? Has this also been tried in space ships or any other military equipment?"

"Well, technically I'm not human. Common concensus would have me as something close to a tsukumogami, that is an object that had acquired a spirt. According to traditional Japanese folklore, at least." Mikasa mused, pondering the question. "Now... we've not really *tried*, per se, since we generally just return spontaneously. At least, I've not heard of any intentional... summonings, per se. Cultural thing, we don't like disturbing the dead, so to speak. As for non-warships, the space agency have employed a few satellite girls, I think the Satellite Systems Development department is headed by one.

"Anything else?"

"- NEF is willing to enter into a non-aggression pact as well as a limited trade agreement to help set up your colony." she them pulled out a holographic map of the world and a highlighted blue section appeared in the northern bay of the world. "This is our colony location, its a decent colony size by NEF standards, we have been here for about 2 years give or take. I also assume you would like a research agreement?"

"Well... I think we'll leave the actual diplomacy to actual diplomats, later on. If that's agreeable?" Koharu replied. "Now, a non-aggression pact will be well received, certainly. And we're not opposed to a trade agreement, though with regards to the... colony... I'll have to push that offer up the chain of command. Seeing as we generally don't go for full-on colonisation as a standard operating procedure. Just military facilities. This has mostly to do with how we tend to arrive on new worlds, at the moment. Portals are... a tested technology for us, but considering how said tech came about, we're still a bit wary of involving civilians."

"With regards to a research agreement, again we'll need the relevant agencies to agree first, but I'm not foreseeing much opposition at this moment." Glancing across the table, the vice-admiral didn't find anyone having objections and thus left it as such. Just then, a knock was heard.

"Do excuse me."

Rolling her chair over to the door, Koharu peeked out for a moment before stepping out altogether.

"Also, any questions about the NEF?"

Glancing at her fellow commanders, LG Shimada shook her head. "None, at the moment. Now..."

Watching the commander of CarDiv 2 return with a rather uncharacteristic scrowl on her face, the Army commander raised an eyebrow.

Koharu sat down, taking a sip from her glass. "Actually... just one. Are you aware of any navy using the ship prefix OSN?"

[Location: Western Ocean]

The shell burst, coming unexpectedly, caused the four Kamikaze-class shipgirls to flinch with a yelp, Natori merely shielding her eyes from the flash. Then, the transmission came, the clearly inhuman voice causing great alarm amongst the shipgirls.

"Natori, what do we..." started Asakaze, as her fire control systems frantically searched for a target in the smoke.

"Harukaze, um... can you link up with HQ yet?" Holding out a hand, the light cruiser turned towards the designated comms vessel of the fleet for this sortie.

"No... wait. Connection is up!"

"S-send a report up the HQ. Highest priority. Say that we've come into contact with two foreign forces, one neutral and the other has expressed hostility with high risk of aggression. Also..." Taking a moment to make her decision, the pacifist light cruiser nodded. "Request for reinforcements too, one Desron. Please hurry! "

As the destroyer hurriedly typed the report, Natori turned towards the Cremsly. 'Now what...'

"Cremsly, we'll be taking precautionary measures against the Bahamut. Please clarify if the above-mentioned vessel belongs to your nation. Over." With that, she sent her recently-upgraded recon aircraft off for a sweep, the little fairy pilots - one Lt. Tanaka and a WO Ishida - eager to test out their new ride. After all, being the first ones to fly the fabled Apache off a shipgirl does come with bragging rights...

Meanwhile, Natori tuned in to the frequency used by the unknown (and unseen) vessel, and gulped. "ONS Bahamut, this is light cruiser Natori of the Hashirajima Navy, flagship of Destroyer Squadron 5. Be advised that your last action will be taken as a signal of hostile intentions, and countermeasures have been deployed accordingly. You are advised to cease all hostile acts immediately."

"Desdiv 5, ready weapons and hold fire."

[Location: Eastern Ocean]

"Hey, Kumano? Any idea what we're dealing with here?" Suzuya asked. The heavy cruiser shipgirl, alongside her sisters as well as light carrier Zuihou and the pre-dreadnoughts Shikishima, Fuji, and Asahi, have sortied to the Eastern Ocean - as high command is calling this water body at the moment - in response to the report provided by their submarines.

The flagship of Cruiser Division 7, glancing at the orders they were given on her smartphone, bit out tersely. "Seems to be a distant relative of the 1960s USS Bainbridge. Guided missile cruiser."

That, unexpectedly, elicited a curse. Kumano glanced back to see Asahi smacking Shikishima upside the head. "Language."

"You're SURE Yuubari tested these... Phalanx thingies, right?" muttered the pre-dreadnought.

"Yes. They've been in service since BEFORE World War 3. Definitely working. Just relax, alright?" The light carrier in the fleet said reassuringly. It's often that the older ships have... misgivings regarding more modern equipment, more so when the time gap between the two are greater. So one can imagine the uproar elicited when pre-WWI battleships learnt about missiles.

Just then, Mikuma - who's on recon duty for this stretch of the sortie - gave a yelp. "Ship sighted! Sure looks like a USN vessel though. Helicopter also spotted, just ahead of the ship. Seems to be on ASW patrol."

"Contact verified! I'm sending out BARCAP." Called out Zuihou, a squadron of fighters taking off shortly after.

"I'll hail them. Everyone assume anti-air formation, Zuihou take middle, followed by the battleships in the inner circle. Suzuya, cover the rear, Mikuma and Mogami, port and starboard. All surface combat vessels, ready HE shells." Firing out orders rapidly, Kumano switched over to the oh-so-useful maritime communications app.

"HLS Zanriel, this is heavy cruiser Kumano, flagship 7th Cruiser Division, Hashirajima Navy. You're now approaching the territorial waters of the Independant Naval Province of Hashirajima, and more importantly, the restricted access waters of Joint Base 2-1, Hashirajima Armed Forces. Please halt your approach, and state your intentions."

ENS Cremsly
1st Destroyer Flotilla

Stering: "Are you sure that the possible contacts received the transmission?"

Comms: "Nearly positi-"

At that moment, the Comms officer was rudely interrupted by the deafening sound of an explosion, the shell from the Bahamut exploding it's programmed 50 meters off the starboard side of the Cremsly.

Stering: "Holy shi- damage report!"

"No visible damage, the shell appears to have detonated too far out to have any meaningful effect on any ship systems."

Cpt. Victor Egeberg: "Cremsly, this is the Pertrard, are you alright? That shell went off really close to you."

Stering crosses the deck back to the Comms area;

Stering: "We're alright. Were there any other shots fired?"

Egeberg: "None at us, but one shell landed awfully close to the Hashirajiman forces."

At that moment, the Comms officer picked up the Bahamut's transmission. Playing it aloud for the bridge to hear, the crew stays silent for a second longer, before the Comms officer also picks up Natori's transmission, translating it as it went along. Again, a few minutes of silence pass, before Stering, taking a deep breath, begins...

Stering: "Change that report you sent to High Command, Comms. One Non-hostile, one hostile force. Hostile force has fired warning shots, have the nearest Cruiser squadron put on standby, have them be prepared to provide reinforcements ASAP. Respond to the Natori, that ship has fired what appears to be a warning shot off our Starboard side, that is definitely not ours... after that, open a channel to the Bahamut...

"Alright, ONS Bahamut. I don't know where you're getting off with us needing your permission to sail here. Our fishing vessels have sailed here for generations, and Einnfit has run patrols here for almost as long as we've had a navy, and I'll be damned if you think one shell can change that. I can call a Cruiser squadron out here in 30 minutes, tops, so I suggest you reconsider your aggressive stance. If you wish, we can negotiate with your leadership for Ocean rights, but Einnfit will not be pushed around on first contact, got it?"

Switching transmission from the Bahamut to within the Flotilla, she continues:

"Pertrard, Kaisi, prepare to lay down a smokescreen of our own. Tenkin, get a Recon heli up in the air, see if it can get any sort of bearing on the Bahamut, and see if there's anything else we need to be aware of. HOWEVER, no ship is to fire until I give the word, or until the Bahamut fires again, whichever comes first."

Upon hearing the response, the Militiaman nods, before calling off the Backup he had called for earlier and directs one of his men to drive the "NPF" forces up to the Science Facility in his Truck. With that done, he has the rest of the men left at the base begin the process of cleaning up the trashed station and, with the "NPF's" permission, retrieving the Drop-pod they came down in- they don't need it anymore, after all...

As the NEF forces first approached the Police Barricade, they were assumed to be Civilians, and so were directed to turn around and head the other way, but as soon as one of the officers realized that they were carrying weapons and scientific equipment, Chief Scientist Cauta, still completely frustrated with the situation, was called down to talk to the NEF forces. Caught off-guard at first, she regains her bearings:

Cauta: "So, eh, I'm sure you have tons to say, but first, eh, who are you, and how'd you manage to get here?"

Onboard Dokari

A group of dushani maids, who were despite their nicknames, actually mostly members of the Garde DuCorps Division, and ship-technicians assisted the Paladin out of his heavy uniform, bringing him some food and drinks.

"Welcome aboard the Dokari. We hope you enjoy your stay as you are now an official guest of the Principality of Dushan!" spoke one of the females with slight dushani accent as the armor was finally removed from the Paladin with some assistance. The weaponry was moved to a nearby locker. It was a big but rather spartanic room he had gotten.

Meanwhile heated discussions was going on in the big conference room of the Dokari.

*

Prince Elden had been, at the insistence of Countessa Bassun, invited too. With attention and awe he follewed the arguments. Relaxedly Irene had, now again in her civilian attire, taken place on a huge sofa as the first reports of the hostilities arrived together with the refusal of the surrender. Her face didn twitched a little as she received the news, just a glance of disdain and contempt.

Suddenly the conversation went into dushani, he couldn understand what was said, but some suggestion of Irene had apparently met with disbelief. Nelana and some other attendees set up twisted smiles. Arguments to the contrary were argued but Irene shook her head calmly, with an attitude of pride, if not arrogance and stubborness.

Elden recalled how he had, many years ago, read the Book of Zeron. It was a historical account written by his ancestors, about how the Esterians of Lesrun met the Dushan, and about the treaty signed between them. A certain passage came to his mind as he observed Irene:

"For all their qualities and virtues; Never forget that the Dushan were born to rule, a will to power and to subject. It runs in their blood, it is the defining essence of their existence..."

As if she had read his thoughts suddenly Irene's glance fell upon him, throwing a little grin at him, as the discussions continued. He had the ungood feeling that they had just been decided about the future of the entire Grand Duchy, and he was being reduced to a mere spectator.

Her crop smacked at the desk. "So then it is decided" she spoke in terran again and everyone in the room nodded. Elden wanted to say something, to ask, as he felt a soft grip of Nelana on his head, her nimble fingers starting to massage it. Why had his lover never done such a thing? While he asked this himself, he realized it was already too late.

"Tomorrow is going to be a important Day" spoke Irene to him before she threw a quick nod to the maid and left the room, as he felt Nelana hands sliding down at his neck and back...

Toglan Fortress, surface of Les-run of Planet Iapetan

The first wave of the assault had been thrown back. But shelling and missile strikes continued. The lesrunians had gained air superiority, as they fought with ferocity. He knew better than to underestimate a opponent, even when it was technologically inferior.

Several of the defense turrets had been destroyed by massive air and missile strikes. Smoke emitted from downed lesrunian aircraft and as well of the remains of a failed armored ambush. The lesrunians had managed to bring a considerable force close to the Fortress and hide the true size of it.

The fighting had swifted from an open battlefield to skirmishes around various of the outer installations. A few had fallen into enemy hands as many had to be given up, in face of sheer numbers and persistent attacks. "Who defends everything, looses everything" The few armored and shielded anti-grav vehicles were mostly busy, covering troops and evacuating them as the enemy had gained the intiative.

Western Archipelago

"Very well, I'm glad to see that some of the proposals would be accepted and welcomed. I will like to contact your nearest diplomat as soon as possible, as for the OSN prefix...no it doesn't ring a bell. For the longest time we thought we where the only nation on this planet however recent events have proven otherwise as we have made contact with about four other nations besides your nation. Why do you ask also portals like wormhole portals?"

The Senior Sergeant looked at the police officers who seemed to be lightly equipped, she frowned at their equipment as it then it was quite primitive. However she couldn't judge them but she was impressed by the fact that they had advanced so much on this island, she was quite curious about their history and culture. But her thoughts where interrupted when what looked like a scientist walked up to them and asked what they where doing here. The AI analyzed what she was speaking and determined that she was also speaking a Nordic like language, she sighed and spoke

"Hello, I am Senior Sergeant Sipia Varlianus of the New Earth Federation. We have come to help with the evacuation and possible halting of the eruption, there is an engineering squad Northeast of here that is with us...."

Northeast
"Alright let's move lads!! We don't got all day!" The senior Sergeant looked around at his squad and then at the the militiamen who had move off to do their tasks. A truck had arrived to take them to the science station as they loaded in the sergeant allowed the militiamen to take the pod, while it would have been good to recover the pod with the environment that they where in as well as the terrain, recovery would had taken some time and or be completely dangerous.

Dokari
"Thank you" he replied as he stood up "I would like to know more about your nation, the reports that are given in the NEF are quite mysterious most likely due to the little information we have about your nation. Also feel free to ask questions about me or my nation"

Annabel lifted the Hellfire MG up and peered down its sights surveying the area around the bunker another trooper ran up to her carrying two more boxes of ammunition. The ammo stores in this bunker are beginning to run dry as they didn't bring enough ammunition with them, then again this was a second line bunker the Dushan engineers maybe didn't expect them to get this far when hey attack but nevermind that's as she look around something moved out of the corner of her eye she snapped to it and opened fired. After a short burst she saw the figure a Lesrunii soldier burst into flames, the soldier flailed their arms as they tried to put out the flames, Annabel just watched as they slowly burned to death, looked at her ammo counter she yelled

"Ammo change!"

The trooper next to her immediately changed out the ammo box and she pulled back the bolt, for the last three hours they had been here fighting back wave after wave if lesrunii infantry. It's gotten so bad that she had lost count of how many waves there was been, not to mention the immense body count that had had racked up. It was goining to be a long and attrition based battle she only hoped that she can see it through, as she finished her though another wave of infantry had arrived this time with armor support, her along with other troopers began to pour lead upon them....

"This is Commander Algost, of the HLS Zanriel speaking here. We're on course across the Tethys Sea, along the Isles of the Nakashima archipelgo. We are on a routine mission in this sector. Over and out." Anne turned around and gave a quick order to steer the ship into a different, northern direction away from the Islands. "Maximum speed, I want to bring as much distance between those Isles and us." It didn helped that they had no longer GPS assisted navigation as several lesrunian sattelites had been going silent or simply vanished over the course of the past 96 hours.

[Location: HS Zenryu]

"Regarding the portals, you'll probably be better off asking the scientists in charge of that project. I think we can arrange a meeting if you're really interested." Mikasa answered, glancing over at Koharu who seemed rather... tense. Considering that she had a white-knuckled grip on her tablet. Said vice-admiral then placed the device down.

"I'm asking, because a vessel bearing that designation just fired upon our own. Without provocation, as well. What do you know of the ocean to the west of this archipelago?"

[Location: Naval Base 2-1, Main Island]

Vice-Admiral Anzai's face had only grew more and more stony as he listened to the live feed from Natori's little expedition fleet. Around him, staff officers bustled around getting their satellite-dependent facilities up and running. Then, came a yell of "Imagery is up!" and the room's occupants spared a glance to the satellite image of the potential flashpoint.

"Column of smoke indeed. Sonova..." muttered someone.

The last message, annotated by Harukaze as being from a ONS Cetorhinus, caused the older officers amongst the hastily thrown-together task group to scowl. "When was the last time someone claimed a whole water body larger than an inland sea?" That, was Lieutenant Colonel Akio Watanable, from the Military Intelligence Organisation. "Coz that almost sounded familiar..."

"People's Republic of China, early 2000s, Nine-Dash Line." Absently answering her subordinate as she entered the room, Hayashimo headed over to where Anzai was seated. "How bad is it?"

"Warning rounds fired, and the local naval forces, a five-vessel destroyer squadron have been threatened with open hostilities."

"Well that's a damn shame. What's HQ deciding?"

"Still deliberating, seeing as this can potentially turn into war. With an unknown force, to boot."

"... preaching to the choir here, Shiro."

[Location: Western Ocean]

"Cremsly replied, not theirs." Called out Harukaze. "Also, the powers that be wants us to hold for now, try to buy time while they decide on further action." As she reported back, the destroyer signalled to her sisters to adjust their formation to protect their flagship.

Nodding, Natori furrowed her eyebrows as she decided what to do next. That decision, however, was taken from her when a rather irate Asakaze.

"Okay, you listen here you little bottom-feeder. You don't even have the fucking courtesy to show yourself, and didn't even bother announcing yourself before opening fire without provocation? I don't know who you are, and honestly I'm not too god damned inclined to find out. Now, I suggest you start talking properly. Coz if you continue pulling this kind of shit around, there's gonna be hell to pay. I mean, for fuck sake have you heard of god damned BEACONS?" At that, the little destroyer waved her arms around, gesturing at the VERY empty ocean around them. "Like, if you want people to keep off you god damned lawn, learn to place a fucking fence! This is absurd!"

Behind her, Matsukaze let off a low whistle. "Soooomeone is pissed off here..." Idly, she noted that the tirade went on to general broadcast...

[Location: Naval Base 2-1, Main Island]

Laughter rang out as the Ops room listened to Asakaze's rant. "That girl's bloody brilliant." That little morale booster was interrupted by one of the junior officers.

"Sir! Ma'am! Orders came in, we're to provide adequate reinforcements for the withdrawal of the currently deployed forces!"

Raising an eyebrow, Anzai read the mail that just came in. "Ensure sufficient assets are deployed to account for all eventualities. ... what an oblique way to phrasing that." Picking up the phone, the vice-admiral rang his own ship.

"Nakashima Duty Officer speaking. This is..."

"It's me, Vice Admiral Anzai. Gather the following commanders in Briefing Room 1: CO Desflot 11, CO Escflot 21, CO Fukuoka, CO Oono, CO Funai, CO Oka, CO Mutsuki. I also want Nagara, Agano, Yahagi, Yamashiro, and Atago. They have 15 minutes to assemble."

[Location: HS Nakashima, Northern Anchorage]

"I wonder what's with this? Any of you have any ideas?" The various flotilla commanders, squadron commanders, and carrier captains, seated around the conference table chattered as they waited for their commanding officer to arrive.

"Hey, Mutsuki. I heard from Satsuki that Natori might have ran into trouble over at the Western Ocean. Think this is related?" CAPT. Akizuki, commanding officer of Destroyer Flotilla 11, asked the dimunitive carrier commander and fellow shipgirl seated beside her.

"Might be, I think. Sacchin did mention that to me too. I hope it doesn't blow up though..."

The various exchanges died down as the door opened and Anzai walked in. It was clear that he's rather tense, which only meant that things were not as they have hoped. "Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Now, I know this is on rather short notice, but I believe that most of you should have at least an inkling of what has unfolded to the west of our current base of operations. A few days ago, a small detachment of shipgirls were dispatched to what is currently termed the Western Ocean-" Pulling out a pointer, the vice admiral jabbed rather viciously at the map projected behind him.

"The detachment, consisting of light cruiser Natori and four destroyers - Asakaze, Matsukaze, Harukaze, Hatakaze - made first contact with two separate foreign forces. First one was a five-vessel destroyer squadron from what we are currently presuming to be a nation called Einnfit." The image changed, switching to a photo of the destroyer ENS Cremsly. "Said contact resolved peacefully. For now, at least."

"The second force, however, is an unknown." The screen blinked once more, this time showing the smoke column from two angles. A surface view, and one from the recently activated satellite. "Composition and nature of this force is unknown, but we do know it consists of minimally two vessels - Bahamut and Cetorhinus. Both bearing prefix ONS. Judging also by the transmissions sent to us by these two vessels, specifically referring to us as 'surface dwellers' and a mention of their own 'naval might', we're assuming at this point in time that the vessels utilised by this force, and possibly their entire nation, lies under the surface."

Taking a breath, Anzai prepared himself for the reaction of his following words. "In addition, this force has opened fire, without provocation, at our girls as well as the Einnfit vessels, though the shells were presumably time-fused and detonated without causing any damage. At this point, we're treating these as warning shots."

As expected, this news caused an uproar amongst the officers present, with Nagara of all people showing a surprising level of anger. "W-what are we doing here then?! Sir! Permission to sortie against these-"

"SILENT! All of you!" Rapping his knuckles against the table, the vice-admiral glared at his subordinates. "Now, here's the key point so listen carefully. As of now, high command has not made any decision as to what our national-level response will be, but I've been told that it will adequately impress upon them our displeasure towards their actions.

"YOUR job, now, is to escort Natori's detachment back to territorial waters. You will meet up with Desdiv 22 on the west side of this island, before departing for Natori's location. Rear-Admiral Mutsuki will lead this fleet. Now..." Taking a sip of water, he looked at each of his commanders in the eye. "I don't want anyone to deliberately provoke hostilities. We're hoping not to start a war here, keep that in mind. Most importantly... if you absolutely have to, and you better make sure you have an explanation for me afterwards in that case, don't hesitate to take measures to ensure the safe return of the entire fleet."

[Location: HS Mutsuki, Main Island Western Coast]

"Ma'am! OFFICER ON DECK!" the Officer-on-Deck yelled, bringing the bridge crew of the carrier to attention.

"At ease, everyone. Comms, have the rest of the fleet check in." Picking up the bridge logbook, the pint-sized shipgirl rear-admiral looked through it while she waited.

"Ma'am, all vessels present, Yamashiro is leading the shipgirls ahead for recon."

"Right. Standard formation then. Air Warf, get the planes up for CAP, hourly switch-outs. Also get the light carriers to start anti-sub screening."

"Yes, ma'am!"

"Helm, set course westward, 16 knots."

"Aye aye! Setting course, bearing 270, 16 knots!"

And with that, the fleet set off. Around the carrier was the four light carriers, and beyond that the guided missile destroyers and destroyer escorts. Taking point was guided missile cruiser HS Aki and immediately behind her, the venerable helicopter destroyer HS Shirane. Overhead soared the various aircrafts sortied to defend the sizable fleet, while even further ahead of the leading vessel lay the wake of the shipgirl forces...

[Location: Ahead of the main fleet, Main Island Western Coast]

"Ise! Hyuuga! What's taking so long?" Yelled out Yamashirou, seeing as her sister and herself have already sent out recon helicopters.

"These new aircraft are, well, new? My deck crew are getting used to sending them out!"

"Then get used to them quickly! Nagara, I know you're getting ansty but don't range too far ahead! Agano, Yahagi, how are the destroyers?"

Looking behind her, the lead ship of the Nagara-class light cruiser slowed down. "Got it!"

"In position!" A quick check reassured Agano that the destroyers under her command were in place. Seeing as there were three light cruisers but four destroyer divisions in Desron 10, Agano and her sister Yahagi elected to take care of two divisions each, with Nagara temporarily handling her sister's Desdiv 22.

"Ready for action." The more stoic Yahagi nodded as well, after a quick glance at her own destroyers.

Nodding as she mentally ticked her checklist, the aviation battleship leading the shipgirl component of the fleet idly filed away an "All clear" report from her own helicopter. "Keep your sonars active, girls. We're looking at a hostile fleet that's potentially fully submersible."

That, of course, drew groans of dismay and shudders from the various individuals who've been sunk by submarines in their past lives. Followed by a lot of noise as everyone checked their anti-submarine equipment...

[Location: Eastern Ocean]

'Tethys Sea? ... are these the locals?' Kumano contemplated her response to the transmission. Behind her, Mogami frowned before yelling out.

"The ship's changing course! Now heading northwards, and speeding up."

That helped the flagship make up her mind. "Suzuya, you're on air duty now. I want spotter aircraft up and eyeballing this Zanriel. Zuihou, get AWACs up, I know you've been issued Ospreys before we deployed. The rest of you, keep up the pace, we're tracking this vessel. Don't make any hostile gestures though, I just want to know where they're heading."

Then, a thought occured to her, and the heavy cruiser switched her radio channel. "Iyo, Hitomi, do you copy?"

"10/10, Kumano. We just surfaced."

"Think you two are up for a sprint?"

The reply from Hitomi was uncharacteristically dry. "What sprint? We've been shadowing that ship since we made contact. You guys are the ones lagging behind."

"Gotcha and out."

[Location: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hashirajima]

The knock on his office door was met with a raised eyebrow, and a groan under his breath. "Enter... and what brings you here today, Commander-in-Chief? Chair's yours."

Yamato took a seat, sighing. "I know you're supposed to be semi-retired, Moriyama, but..."

"Another diplomatic clusterfuck, ma'am? And do pardon my language."

Nodding, Hashirajima's head of state handed a blank folder to the Coordinator for Extradimensional Affairs, the elderly diplomat screening the documents within quickly. "... hostilities right from onset? That sure takes the cake."

"I know... You think I should step down after this?"

"... I don't even know how many years you've been in that position, Yamato. How are you even managing? I've not really seen you screw up, ever. And that's pretty amazing already by itself."

"I wonder sometimes, as well. Anyway... can I hand this to you?"

"Sure, sure. Just another day in the office I guess. When do I leave?"

"Three days, if that's possible?"

"I'll clear my schedule."

As the decidedly eerie message came through the Communications console, the deck once again fell silent, though only for a moment, as Captain Stering regains her composure and begins:

Stering: "Alright, if they won't back down, then I guess we'll just have to show them what we're made of. Pertrard, Kaisi, you know what to do: lay down smoke, make sure they can't hit us. They might have Torpedoes, so ready Electronic Warfare. Also have 'em check and make sure that they haven't been pinging us with RADAR or SONAR. Comms, what's the nearest Cruiser Squadron?"

Comms: "That'd be ENS Kennid with the 12th Cruiser Squadron."

Stering: "Get 'em on the line... hello, Captain Reigez?"

Cpt. S. Reigez: "Captain Reigez, ENS Kennid."

Stering: "We are engaging at least two unknown hostiles, maybe more. Possibly Submarines, judging by the fact that we couldn't see 'em on RADAR until they were practically right on top of us, and based on their communications. Requesting transfer of the..."

Comms: "Beowa."

Stering: "Right, requesting temporary transfer of the Hunter-Killer Cruiser ENS Beowa to our position."

Cpt. Reigez: "Transfer granted, we weren't using Her anyway."

Stering: "Thanks. Comms, patch us through to the Beowa..."

Cpt. M. Stetzo: "Captain Stering, this is Captain Stetzo of the ENS Beowa. Nice to make your acquaintance. We are steaming towards you at 2/3 full speed, we will arrive within fifteen minutes."

Stering: "Would it be possible to send an ASW Helo ahead of you?"

Cpt. Stetzo: "Absolutely, it'll be up in the air shortly."

Stering: "Good."

As that transmission ended, the Kaisi and the Pertrard carried out their orders, laying down an ever-thickening layer of white smoke for the Flotilla to hide in.

Alters

Cauta crossed her arms skeptically, considering the strangely equipped sergeant speaking in somewhat broken sentences, before sighing and beginning:

Cauta: "Okay, Sergeant Varilanus. We don't even know what nation you're from and, again, how you ended up here when our nation has constant patrols of the sea. However, if you want to help with evacuation efforts, we've been trying to move people from Alters out to Orvel, a while south of here. We've blocked off the lane exiting Orvel in this direction, so we shouldn't have any traffic to deal with, and we've already gotten most of the populace without cars out of Alters via bus. There's no danger to the infrastructure of the town itself at this time, however we're afraid that it could suddenly surge in heat at any moment. Beyond this barricade is the hottest area down here, and I'd recommend not getting much closer without any protective equipment."

Pausing for a second as one of the fire engines behind her roars to life and begins pulling away, she continues:

"We're going to be pulling out shortly, though, so you best hurry up whatever you're gonna do."

The truck slowed to almost a complete stop before suddenly accelerating again, entering the freeway and navigating the traffic with ease thanks to the assistance of its emergency sirens. Speeding down the freeway, it would only take a matter of an hour or two to get from Alters to Point Alpha. In the meantime, at Alpha, Mika waits anxiously for a response from the leading Geophysicist of the nation, having sent of his data more than an hour ago- he was getting nervous that it might not have gone through...

Western Archipelago

"I see that is quite unfortunate, If you want I can request a destroyer squadron to be deployed to help with your investigation in that region." As she suggested the action she thought about what possibly could be over in the western ocean. "We know very little about the oceans as we really didn't explore the planet before we made planetfall we did the scans for habitatable areas and we noticed two large concentrations of energy and metallic structures to the east of our colony as well to the south of it on the souther continent. We didn't make contact with them until recently as we wanted a well defended location just in case these empires weren't friendly."

Alters, Police Barricade

She looked at the scientist and pointed to the sky as she spoke "We dropped in from orbit, we have three space warships in orbital around our colony until a few hours ago when we moved out of position to drop here." She then looked at the officer as the scientist left

"Can you give me the locations where there are still people who refused evacuation.....maybe we can remove them efficiently."

En-Route Alpha Geothermal Station

In the back of the truck the Troopers talked amongst themselves often speaking of their mission and the natives to this island a few of the Troopers had removed their helmets revealing their faces. A most where human, with a few Dracoians, Nekos, and kitsune in the squad; the sergeant thought that this would put some of the natives on edge. However it seem that they have noticed some of the Troopers, he slightly shrugged and went back to looking over the data pad that he brought with him detailing his mission.

Bulgan Air Base, Heart of the Lesruna

OPERATION AVENGING ANGEL, DUSHAN ARMED FORCES

With the next major garrison and reinforcements far away and Toglan expected soon to fall, the decision had been taken and fire rained down.

The control tower of the airbase was torn apart by a series of lightning bolts fired from the remotely humanoid silhouettes that descended from the skies, releasing a fury of destruction and terror onto their targets.

The night was illuminated by the fire of AA guns and missiles, and the lightning impacts of C-beams from the distant skies and green explosions of merculite warheads. Planes roared above the skies and explosions rocked through the night as the lights of the City were flickering from power outages. Smoke emitted from burning buildings, with air raid sirens summing loud.

Streets where filled with debris and reminders of the traffic jams, with a few deserted checkpoints remaining. Few time had passed after the ulimatum and the Siege of Toglan fortress had begun, the enemy had appeared suddenly out of nowhere.

Mechanoid suits were slaughtering everything in their way, and seemingly unstoppable. The young contessa Kayuna, leading the charge, grinned and sneered as she aimed her weapon at a Tank, which was soon afterwards hit by a series of lightning bolts tearing it apart. The operation went smoothly, the Lesrunians stood no chance against the coordinated onslaught of the armored cavalry of the Dushan Armed Forces who had the element of surprise on their side.

The mechanoids were far more advanced than anything that had been stationed at Toglan, yet numbers were limited. Countessa Bassun had been decided to use the forces at hand, for a massive, daring decapitation strike against the rebels heart, which they had identified as Bulgan Air Force base. The Dushan were to honor their commitments and would punish the those who had dared to raise their arms against their protegee and the dushan themself.

Dokari

A mere hours before, onboard the Dokari, Prince Elden had been awoken in his new bed, Nelana in his arms. Irene was satisfied with how Nelana had performed at her secretly assigned task, which she was to continue over the next weeks.

Soon enough Elden was called to the command center of the Dokari. His mind was hit with stupor as he saw the wide screens which seemd to give a glance into the void, the holograms projected in the center of the room, lights flickering and the huge organic looking chairs. There, in the middle of the room, on the biggest and most comfy chair that resembled a round futon that hung from the ceiling, she awaited him.

They talk lasted a long time, whispering and in awe he listened to Irene's tale. Many of it was already known or familiar, from the Book of Zeron. But her relevation cast a new light on everything he knew and had learned. What was considered legend, now revealed it's deep awesome truth.

Centuries ago, in the times of the Great Empire, so he was told, man from a far distant burning star had visited his ancestral homeland of Esteria on the World of Iapetan. They were no legend, but indeed explorers and conquerers of the Legions of Dushan. Many names and stories unknown to him were passingly mentioned, and suddenly his World and Homeland always considered to be important shrunk in scope, being lost in the tide of greater events nobody had ever known about.

His ancestor, the first and founder of the Zeron Dynasty, had sworn an oath of feality to the Dushan in those ancient times. For they would put him under their protection in return for him granting them the residence of the Toglan Fortress. Many centuries ago this happened, the exact details and circumstances had been long forgotten but by the few in the know, and the Fortress became a secluded and forbidden zone. Subject of legend for generations until Iapetan started to study and question what had been there, which only few had access to.

Long after the conversation he would sit at the panorama view of the huge conference room and look at his world, lost in thoughts as he realized what he had learned.

Lightnings were flickering in the dark, and a quiet distant thunder seemed to echo across the room every then and now. The Dokari was targeting the surface, he thought.

It were his own people down there, his own people who tried to murder him, his own people who were now killed. Each flickering, each roaring, destruction on an unknown scope was unleashed. Was it just a few people, thousends, ten thousends, maybe more?

Toglan and Comm Relay:

As the few members of the old dushani garrison and their NEF brothers in arms, left their trenches, covers and fortified positions around Toglan and the Comm Relay, the smell of burned ozone crawled into their nostrils, the air seemed to burn and the sky had turned red. The horizon was full of wildfires in what little vegetation was around. Black smoke emitted from various positions. Here and there sparsingly gunfire and artillery salvos echoed across the field in the distance. A feeling spread that something horrific was unfolding, beyond what they had imagined.

The Siege of Toglan was over.

For now.
