Despite the embargo, Techoligian Foreign Aid cargo vessels are entering Finswedeway waters, along with a Techoligian Research vessel.

The Dock that Techoligian trade ships would normally enter receives a video message:

There is a skinny, black haired man with glasses sitting in a chair in front of the screen. He looks down at a small machine on a necklaces in his hands, marked 'Translator', and puts it on, pressing a button to activate it.

"Good day! This is the Techoligian Science Vessel TNS Narilland. We are accompanying a Techoligian foreign aid fleet which is carrying construction materials, food, water, and a few special items." He smiles wide. "As a motion of good faith and of concern for your citizens on the dangers of Nuclear Fission, we are bringing 3 Techoligian Mark 5 fusion reactors. Feel free to reverse-engineer the technology. Consider this a gift to the new government, and to the people of Finswedeway."

He turns off the translator. "Auf Wiedersehen!" The transmission cuts off.

"Something called government funding, my dear Hassad," responds political analyst and talk show host, Davi Kor. "Or lack thereof. But with this new, progressive Prime Minister, the state has been gracious enough to give science a chance. This wasn't a popular move per se, but great things are sure to come!"

Scientists are working day and night to develop a reactor which surpasses Techoligian and Athenian design, using thorium instead of uranium for the fusion. This design hopes to make the process cheaper and significantly more efficient.

The Fins Fascist party grows more restless by the day, calling for a "revolution," to bring prosperity to not only Finswedeway, but the world. In response, The Empress has decided to try to lessen the danger of the extremists by outlawing the buying and selling of firearms without express permission from the government. This wasn't too much of a radical change, as few Fins owned any guns in the first place.

A new flag has been adopted by the more left-leaning government. This design has raised controversy, as the sumbol used is that of a violent communist party in the late 2030's. The alternative, however, isn't much better, as the Fascist party's flag features the symbol of the Skurgen Dynasty. This dynasty is characterised by oppression and corruption, but the core of their beliefs are centred around the great Empire the dynasty built.

Opinions towards centrism grow, as some refuse to choose between two evils.

This bill, and the Nationalist-Conservative agenda has proven incredibly unpopular among the centrist and left wing voters, along with much of the right-wing base, as they see this as a return to the hyper-nationalism of the 1910s, and a possible conversion to fascism, which the citizens of this Imperial Republic fought against in the Second World War. Approval Ratings for the current coalition has plummeted from 37% to about 5%, retaining support from the far-right. However, nothing can be done now as the election is over and won't happen again for four years, though calls have been made to dissolve Parliament, as the coalition have blatantly broken all their promises, and are looking to extend their term indefinitely through "Emergency Bills".

Thankfully, the far-left has not created an extreme response... yet.

On his desk lie a small, unassuming note. He goes to his desk and picks up the note. On it, the Imperial seal of the Fins, with the words, "for Hassad," in small, humble handwriting.

He opens the letter, and sees quite a bit of writing in Awglikhan. He sits down, puts on his reading glasses and tries to translate what was written.

"Greetings, Hassad.
You, and your country, are faced with quite the same situation we have faced for hundereds of years. Your government has been taken over by an oppressive regime. As a citizen of Pax Athena, there are many things you can do to win back your freedom. Let us now look to history for examples. In the year 1389, or -231 in the Fins calendar, Hans Sgurken took control of New Sweden. He had popular support, which quickly dwindled as his true nature was revealed. He would slaughter opposition and silence any enemies. What did we do, when we had tape to our mouths and bindings around our wrists? We screamed and struggled until we took it off ourselves. The elderly King, Junius Luis Nelson folded the letter from the Fins in his hands, sent from Hassad. He wished there would have been a more peaceful solution for the tyranny occurring in his country, but he understood the unfortunately reality that sometimes, violence is required. Once more, since the Swarm Wars, the blood of his countrymen would be spilled again. He had set up secret encrypted lines for the upcoming Resistance. Taking power through legal means was technically possible, but the Nationalists has the command of the military. Most were dissatisfied with the tyranny though, so much of the army, especially the level-headed, and the people who uphold the ancient values would rebel, and some would turn mole and spy for us. Soon, he planned to consolidate support from the nation, not a difficult task for sure, considering most of them don't believe the government is legitimate. Tomorrow would be a long day.

Parliament

The Leader of the Conservative-Nationalist coalition, Jonathan Benia, who just yesterday had in a show of blatant dictatorship, sacked all the seats of the Labour Democrat party members, replacing them with MPs of his own. Uproar in the streets was suppressed by the military. Today was the last day of the debate. There was no doubt the bill, deemed by some as the "Snooping bill, since it would give the PM limitless spying powers, would unanimously pass in this sham parliament.
"-and this is a necessary measure! A measure to protect our Athenian culture, and democracy! Less extreme measures simply can not and will not suffice in protecting our unique way of life!"

The Prime Minister's televised speech was interrupted by a knocking on the main oak door. Tradition mandated that this preceded the arrival of the Junius. But this was surely impossible... the Junius has refrained from interfering in politics for nearly 40 years. A chill ran down Jonathan Benia's spine, as he realised what the Junius has the legal authority to do, though his face betrayed no emotion.

All was silent. The king walked through the storied door of Parliament, which has stood as long as the nation has lasted. His black naval uniform, with all relevant decorations suited his immense dignity, as well as the nation's venerable naval traditions, and exuded an air of authority. He walked to the centre of the debate halls, and with an air of authority, firmness, and contempt in his voice, made the following announcement:

"Have you contemptible fools no honour? You pretend to do your duty, but forget who you are serving. The people! Have you forgotten the idealistic values our nation, our democracy was founded under? With your draconian laws, and your greed, you have oppressed the people you were supposed to be serving, to be protecting! And I can safely say, unlike every one of you in this ancient hall, I am a born-and-bred Athenian. I have not forgotten that self-interest and the accumulation of power is something above the pitiful squabbles of public offices."

Uproar and angered voices was attempting to overtake the Junius' voice, only to be silenced.

"I therefore, with Royal Authority, as Junius of the Pax Athena, do hereby order the dissolution of Parliament until a true democratic election is complete. First Speaker, comfirm my authority is within the law."

The First Speaker, an aged man, with a nearly balded head and white hair, nodded in assent, "It is indeed within your authority, My Lord. If you do so wish, then by the constitution, you are able to dissolve Parliament."

Satisfied, Junius Luis Nelson left Parliament and it's loudly outraging crowds, in the process, trashing the legitimacy of Parliament and convincing the population to resist.

Unsurprisingly, Jon Benia, the tyrannical PM, ordered the immediate arrest of the Royal Family. However, the Junius had prepared for this occasion, for it was announced that as of this morning, the Royal Family is in exile in Finswedeway, escaping through a well-hidden airplane supplied by the Empress.

The King-in-exile is expected to give a speech to the population today, and also to the forming Resistance movement as well.

The Empress sat calmly in her library, reading classic literature. She looked up from her book, out her large window to see the moon, shining brightly from the sun's ever-present glow. She looked back down and lost herself in the pages of The Great Gatsby once more.

Another thirty minutes passed, the library, lit only by the moon and a small lamp, creaked as the strong mountain winds slapped the dilapidated wood of the building. She shifted in her chair, something felt uneasy. She normally felt safe, as the royal guards outside the doors always stay vigilant, but political tensions both in her country and abroad brought distrust amongst parliament.

The floor creaks more, in discrete, methodical patterns. Abruptly, the creaking stops. Zhingu looks up, and sees a masked man right in front of her, swinging an ice-pick towards her head. In panic, she bring her book up to hopefully block the blow. The ice-pick tears through the book, but stops just in front of Zhingu's face. Seeing an oppurtunity, she stands up, grabs the ice-pick and violently kicks her attacker's knee. They struggle, the masked man seemingly unphased by the crazed kicking of someone who's life is in danger. The man pulls suddenly, and grabs the Empress. She frantically swings her legs, hoping to escape. She pushes back, and narrowly slips through the man's arms. They stand for a second, hearts pounding. The attacker was hoping to quickly take out the Empress, but she has put up a better fight than he anticipated. The Empress, while able-bodied, was never trained for battle. Her father hoped to teach her more peaceful ways, before his death in the swarm wars. Unfortunately, being able to play Fur Elise with great skill doesn't help much when someone much stronger and larger than her attempts to assassinate her. The man rushes towards her, ice-pick raised to the air. Thinking quickly, the Empress jumps to the right, narrowly avoiding death. She swiftly goes behind her attacker and kicks him in the back of the knee, tripping and dropping his weapon. Zhingu picks the ice-pick up and swings directly toward the man's head, killing him instantly.

Hyperventilating, she dropped to the ground. Nothing was ever more exciting than that, and she almost craved for more. She suppressed these odd feelings, and took off the dead man's mask. An aged, rugged individual. Fair complexion and blue eyes, with a blonde beard and bald head. It was the leader of the Fins Fascist Party, Ebugart Veber. She looked outside, through the large window, and prepared for a long morning.

Tl;dr, assassination attempt, failed, turned out to be the fascist demagogue.

Luis Nelson, King of the Pax Athena had nearly finished writing the speech. He had hardly slept since arriving on Finswedeway, and now, moonlight was shining through the window of his hidden residence, gracefully provided by the Finswedewegians. He intended this one as a rousing speech, motivating the nation like Churchill did after France fell. In a way, his nation was just like France, occupied, but it's fighting spirit not broken.

His thoughts were interrupted by a sudden grunting sound in his back, followed by the sound of a gunshot. A man's body heavily dropped behind his back, followed by the sound of a sword clanking on the ground, as the hidden Royal Guard sniper comes out of his nest.

Luis sighed, "good job, Andrew, are you sure he's not awake?"

Andrew replied gruffly, "Yessir, that tranquiliser will knock him out for at least six hours. We deliberately overfilled the chamber in case he was a big man."

"I must ask, Sir, how did you know he was going to come?"

Luis replied deliberately, "Two hours ago, the Empress' guard informed us that a fascist demagogue attempted her assassination. Thankfully, she successfully killed the perpetrator. I inferred that this was a coordinated attack, due to the timing; it was the day just after I arrived, and which fascist would want me dead more that the ones at homes. It's also no secret that the fascists here don't agree with me very much too. But now, we have a live suspect. Andrew, summon the interrogator, inform the Empress that we have a live witness."

"Yessir!" Sergeant Andrew saluted and walked off into the hallway of the Royal Residence.

Their orders are to take land in the name of the rebels, not Finswedeway. Morale is high, as the Fins haven't seen battle for years and are itching for a fight.

While their numbers are relatively low, the plan is to rally revolutionaries in the process. Hopefully enough to stand a chance against the low morale army. As such, the army of 250 thousand have been given extra arms and supplies for another 500 thousand. With superior morale, and working exclusively at night, the order is estimated to be 76% in the rebel's favour. Of course, anything can happen, (and if the pax athena WANTS the fascists to win, they will. That is the nature of role playing rebellions and i am fine with that)

An emergency meeting of the fascist House of Parliament is convened to address the Finswedewegian attack. However, the meeting is cut off when a high yield bomb goes off at the center of the House. The entirety of the leadership is killed, including the Prime Minister.

The Pax Athena Expeditionary Force is now without a head, and the Resistance has begun collecting defectors from the army and collaborating with Techoligian and the Fins army to mop up the remaining army.

Death toll of the Fascist army has reached 30,000 and over 500,000 has surrendered to the encircling Finswedewegian force.

The battle appears to have been won, and the King has already begun preparations for a fresh election. He also has repealed all of the fascist laws attacking personal and political liberties.

Until a fresh election is done, King Luis will serve as temporary head-of-state, and an incredibly popular one too, for he is seen as the leader of the resistance. He has announced he will relinquish this power as soon as possible.

Contenders for the new election are: the favourite, Hassad al-Dimaq of the Labour Democrats Party, the ambassador to the Finswedewegians and seen as pivotal to the Resistance effort, who formerly ran for Prime Minister in 2042. He is expected to get 42-44% of the vote. Also running is conservative pundit and debater Matthew Lancaste, of the Conservative Party, who has significantly toned down his right wing rhetoric due to it's apparent unpopularity. He is expected to get 30-32% of vote share.

Captured fascist leaders who are not dead face a war crimes tribunal.

*The plans I was sent were actually quite neat. As you probably know, standard AI files link to multiple databases of glorified if/then functions, which gives an output based on base characteristics, memories, and the apparent situation.
