The ranking points are the toughest mountain. It's time consuming, but not impossible with the story arc thing. Either way, enjoy what posting you do find time for..

Can't say if the tactic would be liked or not if you're copying your posts from other threads, but it certainly works. The quasi novel I wrote over time with someone else there didn't have much to do with sports.

Hey, what else are you supposed to do between OPs? Read? Watch TV? Train?

Nah, you drink, eat, and tell stories

I'm fairly sure there's been more than that in the past Bar and Grill threads.

A little too much sometimes.

Vangaziland wrote:Donner Land, welcome to the Baptism of Fire! The prequel to the World Cup Qualifiers on the sports page. RP helps a bunch, especially in that early tourney. If you can, you want to try to advance there because the ranking curve is steep. And RP doesn't have to be on topic, so you could take an old story and break it up for extra credit into an arc that you release in sets. I still haven't done that, but I should.

I'd say enjoy writing match reports too, it'd just be a big post. And I say that not by what I've done in the WC, but from others... Like Bonesea. He went all out starting at the BoF and is now a top World Team while I got my soccer puppet up to the Top 50, still way down...

It'd be fun to get more Atlas nations in. You'd miss the BoF though. Basketball is still starting. So is lacrosse. We could do a side war RP on the lacrosse thread and probably max the bonus points... Meet in the playoffs, maybe? Not impossible. LAX actually needs numbers.

Baptism of Fire. I used to join that. I am not particularly familiar with the mechanics, so I tend to just go with the flow back on 2012.

People don't listen to what I say, ever.. lol. They just take the words and run with them.

What I said is that it does NOT have to fit the sports theme. You can post a completely independent story, aka a military mission that you could spread out for 4-6 match days. That's why I said we could all join a sport and spend the whole time writing a military mission independent of the IC games... We could get complex with that and plan it in advance. Or freestyle it as the games went on. One thing about the sports RP world:
-To get the max RP bonus, you have to RP every match day. So usually daily. And sports RPers will extrapolate.

But it's all in good fun. So yes... That nation could write and post a modified set of posts from the regional RP.

And that other nation mentioning their sig.. Is that Anglatia?

Also, just scrolled up. It's easy to get judgemental about posts from elsewhere. I mentioned you could modify the posts, as you would have to for the other writer's posts. So it would be original and based off the old post. That's fine. Lesson number #2 about the sports RP world.. Do not let them get hoity toity and bully you around. They'll try.

I've never done anything than write original posts, so this doesn't apply to me. I'm helping you out in a pinch. Because you don't want to quit the BoF and you could easily compete with the BoF crowd... The tourney for unranked nations, aka your best chance to ever win in NS sports... Forest States has the right idea but off on specifics...

Little late for any more advice, though I'll definitely take them to heard and remember them should I get the time to participate in NS Sports.

I find it odd that it's taken this long for someone to do it, however I would like to point out that this is still an II special forces RP OOC, no matter how dead it is.

Sarejo, do not even imagine to pretend you can lecture me over posting a link and having a side convo. Side convos keep this group alive. If you want to do something productive, post in the latest mission. As a sports RPer I can congratulate Donner Land on treading into that world and give him encouragement... If you'll scroll up, you'll see that I looked at ways he could incorporate this very SF RP into the sports RP. So work with me, not against me.

P.S. It's also not dead. It shouldn't be, at least. I posted my greeting to a team and posted stepping off the helicopter. So I'm waiting. I guess I can post again skipping the meet. So instead of focusing on OOC stuff, let's figure out how to give people reasons to post and keep it fun.

A Verdean Naval Infnatryman in Combat Dress carrying an FS-13 Rifle

Biography of Unit: As an island nation, the Verdeans have a long and proud maritime tradition going back to the first kingdoms on the Verdean Archipelago circa AI 1800 (BCE 1300). The concept of Naval Infantry evolved first during this time as the primary striking arm of military vessels in classical and post-classical warfare during the time of the First Verdean Empire. The rise of naval artillery and the subsequent de-emphasizing on boarding actions in naval warfare saw a decline in the prestige of the Naval Infantry, and its subsequent abolition by the Second Republic. The origins of what could be considered the modern Verdean Naval infantry begin with its re-institution by Emperor Carlos XII Parisa upon taking power in DI 50 (CE 1850).

In the Carlosian War, where the Verdean Marines, a strictly professional force throughout the entire war, and given the best that the Verdean Empire could equip them with, proved itself as a devastatingly effective fighting force in its new role as an amphibious raiding force, and to a lesser extent, as elite shock troops. The reincarnated Verdean Marines served with distinction in many of the campaigns during the war including the campaigns to take the lost Provinces of San Lumen, Rosalinéa (Roslinburg), as well as the campaigns in Valden, right through to the final defense of Matanzas, the Culebra Campaign, and the battles outside Corazón del Río.

After the War, the Verdean Marines underwent an ambitious program of modernizations, while the rest of the Verdean military languished for nearly two decades under treaty imposed stagnation, the Marines continually trained and refined their operational doctrine. When The Second Meridonian Great War came around, the Verdean Marines proved extremely effective raiding the Southern coastline of the Newly formed Capisarian Federation, while the Army, only partially modernized under the Second Republic, was sacrificed in enormous numbers along the frontlines. This iteration of the Verdean Marines however, would also be dissolved when the Second Republic collapsed into a series of warlord states. Individual Marines would serve in the multitude of failed defenses against Capisarian subjugation.

The Verdean Marines would be reconstituted once more under the Orteguista Republic. Staying true to old traditions, the Verdean Marines remained a strictly professional organization while the Army and Navy were reformed under conscription. The Marines would modernize their doctrine, placing a greater emphasis on helicopter borne operations, and acting as more of a special light infantry force when compared to the generally more heavily equipped army. Included in this overhaul, was the creation of a special commando company, which was intended to act as a black operations sabotage and assassination group.

The trial by fire for the commandos came when the Doradan Democratic Republic launched 42 nuclear warheads against the Verdean Republic, successfully detonating one, and triggering the Verdean-Doradan War. The Commandos largely operated off the books, destroying Doradan command centers, communications networks, as well as being responsible in part for the suppression of enemy air defenses in prelude to the invasion of the island. During the occupation of Dorado following the war, the Commandos assassinated insurgent leaders, as well as cooperating with soldiers of the Capisarian Socialist Republic in operations to execute renegade Federal Generals in the Versitean Desert.

In operations, Commandos operate in teams of six, a commander, a marksman, a demolition spec, an automatic rifleman, a demolitions assistant, and a marksman assistant (generally operate as riflemen). Generally the marksman and the assistant provide long range cover for the automatic rifleman, the demolition spec, demo assitant, and the commander, who act as the 'breaching team' in most cases. The breaching team is generally responsible for completing the mission objective. In situations demanding a long range hit, the reverse is true, with the breaching team acting as a security force for the sniper.

Biography of Unit:

The 49th Grenadiers Platoon was formed in 1787, originally named the 6th Royal Krenorussian Grenadiers Division. It was a massive force numbering 2, 000 Grenadiers, commanded by General Wolfgang. The men first saw combat in 1790, in the Kreno Rebellion, where Native Krenos revolted against the Colonial government. They crushed the Krenos in the Battle of New London, where they surrounded and massacred the Kreno forces, who fought to the death. They would proceed to crush the Krenos in the Battle of King George's Island. In 1792, the Krenos would surrender. However, a the Krenos had one last trick up their sleeves. While General Wolfgang visited a camp where most of the Krenos were being held, they revolted. They killed four guards and injured sixteen. They would proceed to kill the Prison Warden and General Wolfgang.

After Wolfgang's funeral, Charles Adams, Wolfgang's right man, would become the next commander of the 6th Krenorussian Grenadiers Division. He would change his title from Commander to Chief, this would be what all future commanders were called. 'Chief.'

In 1801, the 6th Krenorussian Grenadiers Division was sent in to subdue French rioters rioting over French persecution because of the Napoleonic Wars. The rioters would be subdued. But, two men lost their lives. In 1815, most of the French, hearing of Napoleon had regained power in France, revolted. They rioted and almost burned down the parliament. Luckily, along with Goldsman Company of the 6th New London National Infantry Regiment, the 6th Krenorussian Grenadiers Division were able to arrest the riot inciters. The riot inciters would be executed by hanging.

In 1865, when His Majesty's Colonies of the Krenobritannian Isles was split into Dominions, Territories and Colonies. The islands of His Majesty's United Dominion of Krenorus (Changed to The United Dominion of Krenorus in 1964), would have the 6th Royal Krenorussian Grenadiers Division would be dissolved. Their chief then, Alan Phillips, protested the dissolution. But, he could do nothing, the new parliament of His Majesty's United Dominion of Krenorus had voted to dissolve the 6th Royal Krenorussian Grenadiers.

In 1879, the 6th Royal Krenorussian Grenadiers would be reformed as the 49th Royal Krenorussian Grenadiers Platoon to fight the Zulus. There, in South Africa, they would adopt the tradition of having new-comers baptized in whiskey. This was because when the Grenadiers went to one church to witness the baptizing of their Captain, Ronald Smith, the church used whiskey instead of water because of a water shortage and a massive left-over of whiskey. After that, all newcomers would be baptized in Macallan Whiskey.

After the war, they would return to Krenorus, where they would not do much. Until 1880, where they would be sent to fight the Boers, only to be wiped out at Bronkhorstspruit. The remnant of the 49th Royal Krenorussian Grenadiers Platoon would go on to fight in Majuba Hill, where their chief, John O'Neil, would be killed by a Boer. The 49th Royal Krenorussian Grenadiers Platoon went to South Africa with 200 men, they left with 20. In 1899, 400 49'ners would be sent to fight in the Boxer Rebellion, they would be led by Chief Phil Johnson. They would help fight until 1901, where they would be shipped off to South Africa before the Second Boer War ended. There, they would become heroes. However, in China, some of the Grenadiers went Missing in Action. They were presumed dead. They were mourned for. It was a force of 200 men who went missing. However, three years later, a group of men arrived in Moscow, they were the 50 survivors of the 200 men. They were sent back to Krenorus where they became National Heroes.

In 1914, the newly renamed 49th Grenadiers Platoon was sent to Gallipoli. Where they would be massacred. It took two years to recover. In 1916, they were sent to the Western Front. After fighting for two years, the war ended. Finally, they returned home to Krenorus, heroes of the Great, yet terrible war. The 49'ners would be dissolved for the second time. They would be reformed in 1970 in the United Dominion of Krenorus' Special Forces program. -The limit for the maximum number of Grenadiers was capped at 10. However, currently, there are only 5 Grenadiers. This is because of extremely hard training- They would be trained hard. They would become a part of His Majesty's Krenorussian Elite Grenadiers. Which consisted of 10 platoons, 5 companies, 3 battalions and 2 divisions:

  1. 6th Royal New London Grenadiers Platoon;
  2. 45th Queen Elizabeth's Island Platoon;
  3. 89th Nova Britannica Platoon;
  4. 1st Appleworth Grenadiers Platoon;
  5. 56th Néos Athína Platoon;
  6. 33rd Neuburg Platoon;
  7. 5th Oldton Platoon;
  8. 5th Nueva Valencia Platoon;
  9. 6th Clovex Platoon; and the
  10. 49th Grenadiers Platoon

  5. Imperium Company

-
  1. Cueilleur Battalion
  2. Anschlag Battalion
  3. Queen Victoria Battalion
-
  1. Semper Victor Division
  2. Primo Victoria Division

In 2016, 53, 167 men tried to become a part of His Majesty's Krenorussian Elite Grenadiers, about only 1, 000 were able to join. Of those 1, 000, only 2 were sent to become a 49'ners. Those two would be known as Ajax and Cromwell.

Operators of the Unit:

Agent Alex "Loai" MacDonald

Agent Alex Xander MacDonald (b. 1994 - ), or Loai, as he is known from his alias, is the only agent in the 49th Grenadiers "49'ners" Platoon. However, he can also be an infiltrator or a scout if need be. He is the man who gathers information and does research into areas of operation, for learning the culture, language and practices there. He's also trained to be a scout and an infiltrator. So, that the 49'ners won't stand out in the crowd. He also knows how to interrogate High-Value Targets. Loai is a valuable entity to the 49'ners. This is because he knows how to infiltrate enemy organizations and nations. He is known for being able to get any information by any means necessary, this is because of him not believing in morals since he's an Atheist. This allows him to kill, or do anything he wants to get his information. He is a 6'1, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, handsome man. His body is athletic and lean. His Greek Nose and his Caucasian skin, his square chin and he has thin lips.

Loai is known for his unsympathetic attitude towards almost everyone and his sly ways of achieving what he wants. However, when it comes to his family and his friends, he becomes very loyal and even selfless to the people he cares about, although there aren’t many. He is aloof and reserved in operations. But, he's friendly, kind and compassionate to his friends. He is passionate about his occupation. He's not patriotic, he views all governments as corrupt, whether Capitalist, Communist, Socialist, Fascist or any other ideology. He believes in technocracy. He thinks that people with skills should be elected rather than people who can talk and influence. He dislikes Conservatism, Liberalism and other ideologies. But, he holds a special disdain for (Conservative; Anglo-Krenorussian Party) Prime Minister Henry James Rodrik Rumsfeld Jaeger XII, or Harry Jaeger. He doesn't vote. However, only the closest of the closest of his friends know his views, because he is extremely secretive. He needs companionship, or he'll fall apart from the loneliness. He hates himself, and sometimes takes it out on others, though not his friends. He appears tough, hardworking and confident. But, in reality, he is in depression. He only appears that way because he does not want his friends to find his true self, which is a lonely, depressed, young man who is sad on the inside, no matter how much he appears confident or proud on the outside. His favourite song is Paint It, Black, by The Rolling Stones

Chief Joseph "Skull" Adams

Chief Joseph Harry Adams (b. 1982 - ), or Skull, is the 'Chief' (Commander) of the 49'ners. He is the one who receives orders from command and delivers those orders to his fellow Grenadiers. His men call him 'Chief Skull'. He is a 5'9, brown-haired, green-eyed, handsome man. But, his body is scarred. His body is athletic and lean. He has a Duchess Nose. Caucasian skin and his square chin. His lips have wide swags. He is extremely patriotic for Krenorus and extremely Conservative. He's a member of the Anglo-Krenorussian Party.

Skull is a man who takes his job seriously. He is very strict about the standards and is upset whenever they are disrupted or breached by his coworkers. However, he does have a deep respect and admiration for his superiors. Loai accuses him of worshipping them. However, he is a staunch Christian (Anglican). Ironically, he views Catholics, Lutherans and any other type of Christian as 'Satan-worshipping-heretic', as he once described to Loai while ranting about the Catholics. He also hates Atheist. But, he hates and like Loai at the same time. Once, he got angry at Loai for saying: "If you're a Christian, how come you hate non-Christians? Jesus said to love your enemy." - Skull and Loai argue over politics in Krenorus and Harry Jaeger. But, their arguments always seem to end in laughter. Loai and Skull, even though they have differences, are good friends. Especially when it comes to operations. His favourite song is Rule Britannia. "How upper-class... and how... boring" as Loai describes it.

Phillip "Hawk-Eye" King

Phillip King (b. 1989 - ) is the 49'ners' sniper, or Hawk Eye. Hawk-Eye is a 6'2 red-haired Scottish-Krenorussian. He has a red beard and wheres a camouflaged hoodie. When not in an operation, he can be found at the pub (bar, for you Yanks). He is a talented piano player. But, he has a distaste for modern music, instead preferring old music. His favourite song is House of The Rising Sun, by The Animals. He plays it as a piano solo in the pub sometimes and in the headquarters other times. It earns him two free pints after he finishes.

Hawk-Eye relies on alcohol to keep him happy, for he can't handle the guilt of killing a man. Piano playing calms him down. It also helps with stress. He is Skull's 'favourite Son of A Motherf*king B*tch', as Loai says.

Hawk-Eye's rival, unsurprisingly, is Loai. They both compete with each other. Skull tells both of them to knock it off. But, it does no effect. Hawk-Eye is an Anglican. "No wonder Skull is fond of him." ~ Loai...

Jack "Cromwell" Russell

Jack B. Russell (1990 - ), or Cromwell, is part of the assault/defence team, or Def-sault. He joined in 2016. He, along with Ajax, goes with the Chief during operations. He is armed to be able to assault most places. He uses an AR-15 that was issued to him. However, his favourite weapon is the FN FAL. He uses it sometimes. His father used a Sturmgewehr 58 in 1987, during a police operation and in 1995, when anti-Muslim riots gripped the area around the St. James Community College after Магомет Абрам Александр, a Russian Muslim, massacred nine persons and wounded another nine more.

Cromwell is his nickname because of his anti-monarchist stance. He wants a republic in Krenorus. It is believed that he got those ideas from his father, who was a staunch Republican. Cromwell's grandfather was a Socialist, who was persecuted for his stance. Cromwell has a bad relationship with the traditionalist-conservative Skull, unsurprisingly. He does have a good relationship with Loai, though. Cromwell and Hawk-Eye are 'Boogie Buddies', as Cromwell and Hawk-Eye sometime play boogie-woogie and blues duets on their piano. His favourite song is Honky Tonk Train Blues, by Meade Lux Lewis. Cromwell is a Lutheran.

Cromwell and Ajax have their differences, as Ajax is focused on defence and Cromwell on attack. The best defence is a good offence, as Cromwell (and Napoleon) says. Cromwell is in the Republican (Krenorus) Party. He is a Liberal when it comes to economics, and centre-right when it comes to social order.

Solomon "Ajax" Young

Solomon Young (b. 1987 - ), or Ajax, is also a part of the Def-sault team. He joined in 2016. He's the man to go to when you need someone to defend a building or location. Although an AR-15 is technically issued to him, and he is technically using it, he actually uses a Steyr AUG carbine (407 mm (16.0 in) barrel). Ajax is 'a real piece of motherf*king sh*t', as Loai describes him. Ajax's favourite instrument is the Accordion. Ajax is a monarchist. He's half-Hispanic and half-Caucasian. He is very optimistic, something that Loai isn't fond of. Ajax and Hawk-Eye, along with Skull,
are good friends. Ajax has a taste for Western movies (Those Cowboy movies from the 60's) and he loves saloon music.

Ajax's favourite song is Mr. Stalin, You're Eating Too High on the Hog, by Arthur 'Guitar Boogie' Smith and his Crackerjacks.

Biographical Information:

James Henry Marshall (b. 1992 - ) is the main pilot for the 49'ners. He's the one who gets them in and out of Operation Areas. He is known as the Free Bird for his improvisation in tough situations. He trained himself. However, when he joined the 49'ners, he was trained by Scar. Scar found him after he ran into a pub that Scar was drinking in. Free Bird was running from the police, this was because he had assaulted a man. In reality, the man was bullying one of his friends. Normally, the police would just issue a warning or would do nothing. However, this man had connections, so the police went on a hunt for Marshall, citing assault. Marshall would hijack a helicopter and land it near the pub after it ran out of fuel. Luckily, Skull would take him in. He would secretly train him. A few months later, he revealed Free Bird to the government. The government, not wanting to lose such a valuable pilot, pardoned him. But, Marshall was never allowed to leave Headquarters, except in emergencies or when heading for an operation. Marshall, technically, is a fugitive on the run who the police never bothered to catch.

Marshall is extremely loyal and grateful to Skull. This has made him on bad terms with Loai. Who says he: "... likes to kiss and worship that skull pig." - Marshall is a Syrian Orthodox Christian.

However, a the Krenos had one last trip up their sleeves.

Luckily, along with Goldsman Company of the 6th New London National Infantry Regiment and the 6th Krenorussian Grenadiers Division were able to arrest the riot inciters. The riot inciters would be executed by hanging.

In 1865, when His Majesty's Colony of Krenobritannia became His Majesty's United Dominion of Krenorus (Changed to The United Dominion of Krenorus in 1964), the 6th Royal Krenorussian Grenadiers Division would be dissolved.

Operators of the Unit:

Agent Alex "Loai" MacDonald

Agent Alex Xander MacDonald (b. 1994 - ), or Loai, as he is known from his alias, is the only agent in the 49th Grenadiers "49'ners" Platoon. He is the man who gathers information and does research into areas of operation, for learning the culture, language and practices there.

However, when it comes to the 49'ners, his family and his friends, he becomes very loyal and even selfless to the people he cares about, although there aren’t many.

He has a Duchess Nose and his Caucasian skin, his square chin and his lips have wide swags.

"How upper-class... and how boring" as Loai describes it.

Although an AR-15 is technically issued to him, and he is technically using it, he actually uses a Steyr AUG carbine (407 mm (16.0 in) barrel).
