Hey all, this is the signup/planning thread for The Gulf War, an MT RP that's part 1991 Gulf War, part 2001 Operation Enduring Freedom.
The general setup is thus: Gilan (Not-Iraq), a rogue state in the Middle East, has occupied the small state of Qadha (Not-Kuwait) since 1998. It has been under sanctions since the occupation but those have had little effect because not everyone is participating. Astoria has been using its Navy to protect oil tankers and other shipping in the Gulf since the Not-Iran-Iraq War in the 80s. Gilan has begun supporting Soldiers of the Islamic Jihad, an Islamist terror group that wants to eject Astoria and other foreigners from the region. They pull off an attack on an Astorian warship and Astoria prepares to settle the issue once and for all.
Currently it's me VS the NPC state Gilan, but other states may wish to join in on either side. The end result, in theory, is either a diplomatic resolution (if Gilan gets any major backers that make a war too costly) or a swift invasion of Gilan that frees Qadha and possibly topples the regime.
Other members of the region New Caelondia, whose "world map" this is technically taking place in, will participate in limited roles in the thread. If you're interested in joining a pretty laid-back roleplaying region with plenty of space on its world map and lots of room for new members, talk to me via Telegram.
