The Régency War (IC|Sign-Up First)

Postby Kingdom of Derita » Tue May 23, 2017 4:06 pm

As the sun set over Vanessa, the Prince Régent looked out of the windows of the Palais de Milanes, the home built by his youngest sister for her times in the city that had become the capital of the empire in all but name. Below him in the court yard was a Battalion of the Amperiale Army. They stood tall and straight, disciplined and in order. They were striking in their black and blue uniforms, holding their rifles.

The Prince Régent made his way to the window and smiled. He moved over to the glass doors that lead out to the balcony and opened the doors and stepped out onto the balcony. He waved his hand and the balcony was completely light up by flood lights. He smiled and waved his hand. Below him the troops saw him and bursted into cheerful cries. They all yelled.

"Viva le Prince Régent!"

He continued to wave, but said nothing. There was nothing to be said. They were going to war, or rather they were fighting an undeclared conflict. And he was determined to win.

Background

The year is 2073 and the Celestial Empire of Derita is on the path to war.

Derita

In Derita, the nation is ruled by André, the Prince Régent of the Celestial Empire, serving on behalf of his father King-Emperor Christopher II. Around him served the Régency Council, lead by Prime Minister Variés. While Derita prospers and continues to act as the superpower in the region under the Volonté Dynasty and their Hegemony over the rest of the world that has so far lasted seven decades. The King-Emperor has lead the nation through three great wars, though never declaring war official, finding victory in all of them, the Nine Years War (2020-2029), War of Spanish Succession (2023-2029) and the Great Northern War (2049-2052). With the end of this last war, the King-Emperor has imposed on the world, a period of relative peace for the last twenty one years, with only three minor wars being fought between only two nations, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Spanish-Dutch Wars that lasted from 2063 to 2064, 2067, and 2067 to 2068 respectively. Despite his military genius, the King-Emperor has taken the role of peacekeeper for the last forty years, acting only to preserve the peace that he has worked so hard to create. As if to contrast his father, the Crown Prince of Derita, named André has made himself a military man. Joining the Amperiale Army in 2055, he became a General the next year and won a stunning victory in the brief peacekeeping conflict, the Spanish Campaign of 2056 and lead Deritain Expeditionary Forces to victory in 2064 to save the Empress of Dutch, Anna Charlotte during the Battle of the Royal Palace. Closest to the Crown Prince is his friend and cousin, the Duke of Angoulême, Marshal of Derita and leader of the Amperiale Army. At the side of the King-Emperor is the peacekeeper Prime Minister Magnus Variés. For the last six years, since Variés became Prime Minister, the four men, two old and two young, have held the empire and the world in peace with a dominating military force acting as a sleeping dragon. Now, that careful balance is collapsing. With the absence of the King-Emperor, for he has left for his new extrasolar colony of Andoraan with a team of colonists, construct workers, architects, artists, sculptors, authors, astronauts, scientists and engineers to oversee the construction of his new colony. To lead the government, he has placed his son and heir as Regent of the Empire. Prince Régent André has already made a splash as he has relied more on the Duke of Angoulême rather than Lord Variés. Despite the Régency Council put in place to help govern the nation, the Prince Régent has taken power for himself, leading the empire like that of his father, as an absolute monarch.

But this has proven perhaps a dangerous move.

Dutch-Empire

Meanwhile, as the sleeping dragon of Derita has sat on their golden throne ruling the world, a small nation to the north has been growing, rapidly becoming the Sixth Empire on the continent. The Dutch-Empire.

In 2059, with the death of King Willem-Alexander II, the rise and fall of Queen Marie and the arrival of Empress Anna Charlotte say the rise of the Royal House of Wessex take power in the Dutch-Empire. Under Empress Anna Charlotte and her family, the Dutch-Empire had seen many changes and progression. A proud woman, she has taken the symbol of the Golden Rose, her power growing ever strong as she stood strong against Charles II of Espana in his attack against her capital in Amsterdam, only to be saved by Crown Prince André during the Battle of the Royal Palace (2064).

Fighting two more wars against her Archenemies Charles the Mad King and Marie of Wied (former Queen of the Dutch-Empire), she rooted herself deeply in her empire and propped herself up as the Golden Rose of the Dutch Empire, beautiful in her petals and deadly and protective with her thorns. In 2067, she finally defeated her enemies, sending Marie of Wied fleeing to the Dutch East Indies and then to Portugal and then seeing her outlive the villainous King Charles II who died of a heart attack.

Encouraged by her victory, Empress Anna Charlotte moved forward, attaching Espana and overthrowing her husband's nephew, Charles III and helping to place her husband on the throne as King Henrique II, united the Dutch Empire with that of the Royal Republics of Espana. While at first seen as usurpers, which they were, Anna Charlotte and Henrique II as both monarchs in their own right, have finally reached a state of peace and stability. Under the Dutch Prime Minister, war hero and former general, Augustus Aucgate the Dutch Empire has reached an impressive size, conquering the Gran Colombiana Canal and reconquering the Dutch East Indies. But with the progressive and imperialistic views of the growing Dutch-Empire, the Sixth Empire on the continent has become at odds with Derita, the Celestial and First Empire on the continent.

Crisis to Conflict

Shortly after André became Prince Régent of the Empire, Anna Charlotte invited André to Amsterdam, who promptly refused. Insulted by the Prince Régent's rude refusal to visit, the Empress demanded he visit and again the Prince Régent refused. Infuriated by her rudeness and arrogance, André reminded her of the fact that he is the acting monarch of the Celestial Empire. Seeing this as a threat, Anna Charlotte reminded the Prince Régent and the world that she was a descendant of Emperor Antoine of Derita, who was made to abdicate in 1899 for his younger brother Kenyatta of Derita, ancestor of Christopher II and André and that it was her father who was the rightful Emperor of Derita as the eldest most direct descendant of Allan the Great of Derita.

This claimant of the Deritain throne suddenly made Anna Charlotte and the House of Wessex a threat to the Volonté Dynasty and the Prince Régent.

With the fuel set for fighting ready, all that was needed was a match, and that match came in the form of Beliany. A small country acting as a buffer between Derita and the Dutch-Empire, Beliany began a search for a new monarch. The situation was made worse when Anna Charlotte, seizing an opportunity, placed her son, Prince Henry, on the vacant throne of Beliany. Crowned in the port city of Adelaide as Henry III of Beliany, the eighteen year old king was clearly seen as a puppet of his mother and quickly challenged by the Duke of Angoulême. Ordered by the Prince Régent, the Duke invaded Beliany and soon took the southern half of the country and was declared Louis I, King of Beliany.

Ongoing Conflict

The conflict, named the Régency War by the Deritain press, started with the Battle of Uss, a dangerous and deadly battle which ended in a stalemate. As the Amperiale Armed Forces look to cross the Uss River, prevented to do so by the Dutch Army, in Espana their king has declared support for the Dutch and their longtime prime minister, Dante Pantellria resigns in protest. Could this lead to a two front war? Now the world looks to see what will happened.

Orbais, Beliany
22 April 2073

"General, the bridge is halfway completed across the river."

The Duke of Angoulême looked away from his map of central Beliany. It was two days after the Battle of the Uss, a fight that had resulted in a dreadful stalemate. The Duke of Angoulême was known for his effectiveness and usually he found only success on the battlefield. He found his failure to cross the Uss River at Kentaykee disappointing, but he would not allow that to stop him. He held the title of King of Beliany and so it was his right to enter the capital of Bleugate. But first he had to cross this damn river.

The Duke looked back at the officer who had updated him on the pontoon bridge that he had ordered built across following the Dutch destroying the bridge further south at the close of their first battle. They had travelled north to a narrower section of the river into order to cross.

"Good. When shall it be completed?"

"In two hours or so Your Excellency."

"Good."

The Duke of Angoulême looked back at his map. Once they crossed the Uss, they would be able to cross the flat fields of Central Beliany to reach the capital city of Bleugate. From there they would break the power of the Dutch.

Jacques Balzac stood on the western bank of the Uss River, snapping a picture of the Amperiale Army making their way across the river.

"Do you think that you should really be doing this?"

Jacques looked over at his friend and college, Marie-Françoise Cuvillier. She stood with a hand on her hip behind him.

"You really expect me not to take pictures of the invaders?"

"Seems unnecessarily dangerous."

"They come in here, guns at the ready, rolling down the streets with tanks and firing shells into our land and kill people here and you think it too dangerous to take pictures of them?"

"Yeah, yeah."

"Here, write this down, 'Amperiale Army marches on Capital.'"

"Ooh, that sounds good."

Anna Charlotte walked down the main gallery of the Royal Palace followed by her ladies in waiting. The Empress was wearing a red and white equestrian gown, she had just come from riding outside the city and had been called back to the palace by her privy council. She was to meet them later that evening.

Behind her Lady Asbury, Lady Keismaat, Lady Duuren, Lady Castaing and Lady Vanderahee, the latest of her chosen ladies-in-waiting.

Angelina Asbury, her longest serving lady and close friend was also the eldest lady at 31years old, and the only one who was married, to Anna Charlotte's court favorite, her Minister of State, George Asbury. As Countess of Heerde, she was also the highest ranking lady. She was a pretty blonde woman, and she too wore a equestrian gown, her dress however was green. She had been the only one to ride with the Empress, the rest of the ladies were too young and foolish to think to ride with the Empress.

Ladies Jacoliene Saar Keismaat, Lisabeth Duuren, Willemien Castaing, Marieke Vanderahee were all twenty years old and were daughters of big business CEO's in the Dutch-Empire. Saar and Marieke were the prettiest of the ladies, both tall and slender, Saar was blonde and blue eyes with naturally pink cheeks. Marieke was brunette with freckles, tanned skin and long brown curls that man adored. Lisabath was a rather plain looking woman with strawberry blonde hair gat was short and curly. Willemien wasn't particularly pretty and was kind of chubby, but she was far smarter than the rest of her fellow ladies and was Anna Charlotte's second favorite after Angelina. She had long black hair, which he almost had up in a bun with pearls weaved into it. Her farther was the leading industrialist in the Dutch Empire, perhaps even the world, specializing in the latest inventions.

Anna Charlotte, a beautiful woman who looked far younger than she truly was, her light skin dotted with barely visible freckles, a dark beauty mark standing out on the right side of her face, just right of her eye. Her long black hair was cascading down the left side, tumbling over her shoulders and ending in beautiful, well groom and maintain curls.

The Empress, still holding the short Spanish braid horse whip took off her hat and tossed it behind her. Lady Castaing caught the hat. She spoke out loud, both to herself and to her ladies.

"Blasted Deritains. Oh how I loath that Duke of Angoulême."

"But Ma'am," Lady Castaing spoke with thoughtfulness. "he did help save the palace and the capital and he captured Marie of Wied."

Anna Charlotte waved her whip dismissively.

"That was ten years ago, you were but a child when that happened. And the Duke and the Prince Régent did that for their own glory. And that She-wolf escaped. Now they betray me, and the Duke of Angoulême ruin the peace with their attack.

Héloise Geiger, the ambassador sent to Amsterdam on behalf of the National Assembly of Beliany shortly after Henry III was crowned in Adelaide, was making her way down the gallery in the Royal Palace of the Dutch-Empire. She had no interest in the dresses and gowns that the Dutch court seem to adore. She instead wore a gray pants suit with a red tie, a neutral color between the orange of the Dutch and the blue of the Deritains. Ambassador Geiger made her way to the Empress and spoke quickly, joining her in her walking.

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty, I am Ambassador Geiger and I wish to speak to with you for a moment about this war."

Anna Charlotte looked at the Belian Ambassador. She wasn't an impressive woman, but she was still an ambassador. Anna Charlotte looked back at her ladies and waiting.

"Angelina, Willemien, both of you stay with me. The rest of you are dismissed"

The Empress waved her whip at the girls and they all scattered away. As soon as the empress turned black to ambassador, Saar glared at her, offended that she was being dismissed while Willemien got to stay. Anna Charlotte looked to Geiger.

"What is your concern about this conflict," Anna Charlotte refused to call it a war as no declaration had been issued. "in my son's kingdom."

Ambassador Geiger looked up at the Empress of the Dutch, occasionally looking back at the floor and then at the Dutch monarch.

"Well Your Majesty, there is the concern about you, your, with the Dutch Forces occupying our country, a drawing is us into your dynastic fightvwith the Prince Régent..."

Anna Charlotte waved off the ambassador. She reminded her of a horsefly, buzzing around her and nipping at her, causing ever so much annoyance. She called herself an ambassador, but as far as the empress was concerned, that was little more than a formality.

"This is no dynastic disput. I am not sending peacekeepers into Beliany for my own personal ambitions. I am looking to protect the rightful government and the throne there. And do not as if you are some foreigner delegate. I am sending troops for my son, the King of Beliany."

5th Airborne Division
Alpha Company
Lord/Major Jeremy Vosata

Jeremy was at the barracks, in his standard armor with his rifle slung over his shoulder, and was being briefed by General Ruger. Him and his Sargeant Major were listening carefully to every detail

"We will be dropping you behind the lines at Oostende, you will be traveling with the first battlegroup and will be dropped by Harpy, we need you to secure the town, thus securing a road straight to Brussels, the Third Expeditionary will be landing after you hit the ground, and will attempt to push their way up from the coast"

The General paused and said "we expect heavy resistance, and it is likely that the minute you hit the ground you will be in a hot LZ, so be ready to go out the door shooting"

Jeremy nodded and said "so what can we expect for armor and heavy fire support?"
The General said "you can expect fire support from the fleet and once air supperiority is achieved you can expect air support, you will be dropping with mobile battle suits, but in terms of actual vehicles, you will have to wait until Amphibious forces break through"
"and what if they fail to break through?"
"Then we will do our best to pull you and your troops out, but if that's not possible we will have to hope the Deritans can push through to you in time"
Jeremy nodded, and then said "so when do we leave?"
The General said "We leave now, get to the boats"

Jeremy nodded and yelled out "Let's go Alpha Company"

He grabbed his helmet and followed by the company he boarded the large Vakara Class Battlecruiser, carrying with them their gear and supplies. The boarding ramp closed behind them, and the ship began to depart, quickly accelerating to its top speed of 45 knots as it joined the fleet, and began its journey to europe with haste

The Empress stopped her quick pace and scowled at the ambassador. Who was this insect buzzing about her calling her the King of Beliany. Perhaps it was true that her young son Henry was not a real monarch, and it was true that she had issued all the orders he carried out. But there was no need for Ms. Geiger to know that.

Ambassador Geiger's jaw dropped. This woman was infuriating. She acted first as if she were the perfect house wife, then as if she were the most innocent of mothers, the most protective of neighbors, but yet all they while she seem to do as she please with no checks in her power. She was a tyrant in petticoats. And a tyrant in petticoats is just as much a tyrant as one in trousers.

Ambassador Geiger could sense that she would get nowhere further with the empress, at least not now, and did an over dramatic bow to her.

"As you wish my king."

With that she huff and stomped off. She was going back to the embassy.

Doisburg, Beliany
May 2, 2073

The Duke of Angoulême's army had reached the outskirts of Bleugate, the capital. As he had expected, the large amount of flat farmlands in northern Beliany had worked to his advantage. That advantage ended however once they reached Doisburg. Looking at the Belian maps, it appeared that Doisburg was a small town located along one of the ten roads that lead straight into the heart of the capital. Unfortunately it took a path in a valley right between two hills. The Duke decided to halt his troops before advancing further and so they made up camp in the woods just southeast of Doisburg. The Duke of Angoulême meanwhile sent a message to Bleugate, ordering its city official to give up the city peacefully.

François Constantin, Baron de Nassars yawned as he was rushed into the office of the mayor of Bleugate. Garry Ellis, the returning mayor of was crouched behind his desk as the Baron de Nassars sat down. Mayor Ellis looked up and saw Nassars and quickly jumped up and sat in his chair behind the desk and smiled nervously.

"Mayor Ellis, is everything alright?"

The mayor quite aggressively shook his head. Baron de Nassars sighed. Nothing ever seem to be alright anymore. Mayor Ellis was a nice man, well, as nice as a politician can be, though he did lack a spine and was terrified of a million things. Despite that he had held the position of mayor for nine years so far, his third term starting just last year.

"What is wrong?"

Mayor Ellis exploded with panic, or maybe it was anger, probably a little bit of both. It was made all the worse by his smile, a nervous smile.

"WHAT IS WRONG?!"

The mayor snatched a piece of paper off of his desk and waved it around laughing nervously.

"Do you know what this is?"

"A piece of paper?"

"What? No! Its-"

"Wait, so that is not a piece of paper that you are holding?"

"I, I mean yes, it is a piece of paper-"

"Then why did you say no?"

"Huh?"

"You just said that it wasn't now you are saying that it is. Why did you say-"

"NEVER MIND WHAT I SAID! That is an unimportant aspect of this!"

"Then what is an important aspect of it, that piece of paper."

"It is a order of surrender."

The Baron de Nassars' face dropped. An order of surrender? That sounded like a show of mercy, a swift quick painless death rather a gruesome and violent end. That meant an attack on the city would not be far behind, decisions had to be made now.

"Get Aalst."

The Baron de Aalst, called the most level headed man in Beliany, stepped onto a small stage and sat down in a chair. He was in a studio and had just finished being man to look perfect for television. He was dressed in a black suit, a red tie and a yellow flower was pinned to his jacket. The colors of Beliany. He took a sip of water and looked directly into the camera as his image was projected across the country and across the world for whoever was tuning in.

"Ladies and gentlemen, there comes a time in every person's life where they must make a choice. Coffee or tea. Blue or Orange, car or SUV. Fight or flight, life or death. War and peace. These decisions can be world altering, or life shattering. And today my fellow Belians, and fellow humans across this world, we are faced with a choice. We are caught between two dynasties, two kings and two armies. Bleugate will fall, but it shall only fall to the true king of Beliany. The other must be destroyed. And we must choice who he is, at home and on the battlefield."

5th Airborne Division
Alpha Company
Major/Lord Jeremy Vosata

Jeremy stood on the flight deck of the large Battlecruiser, the Harpy VTOLs were ready to go and he was briefing his men on the battle ahead

"When we hit deck we are going to secure a perimeter around the LZ, do not go running off, I don't care if you see the Dutch queen. We will hold that LZ until the division is unloaded and Mobile Battle Suits are deployed then we will hit that town with everything we have"

He then paused and said "resistance is expected, and I can't guarantee you will all, if any of us, will come home, but know you are fighting for the glory of Viscovia"

The company gave a loud yell of Hoorah, and he said "alright let's move out!"

They all loaded into the Harry's, Jeremy loading into the first one to take off, beginning the journey to Beliany, where the first Viscovia soldiers would be entering the war, hell was coming

Several miles north of Bleugate
25th Battalion
2nd Dutch Army

May 3, 2073

King Henry III, though he was in truth only king in name, and even that was debated. The 18 year old Henry wasn't much interested in war, he detested war, he hated it. War and death had ruined his life, forcing him to be sent away from his home for long periods of time.

Henry however had a job to do. His mother had given him new instructions after that Baron de Aalst's little speech. Mother and her generals wanted him to lead the Dutch armies south to Bleugate to capture the capital and fight the Duke of Angoulême. She wanted him to be chilvarous and dashing to stomp down on his enemies with the confidence that she possessed. He was not so confident.

But he would not refuse to follow Mother. And so they made their way south from Adelaide towards Bleugate. But Henry was sure to put himself at the very rear, as far back from the front as possible.

Osteend
Bellany
5th Airborne Division
Alpha Company
Major/Lord Jeremy Vosata

Jeremy watcged the water pass and the shore of Bellany appear below them, having not yet met with a response, they were preparing to land in the town just north of Fleriskotstraat, the loud roar of a dozen Harpy VTOLs filled the Atlantic air.

The Harpy began to descend, coming to hover just inches above the ground and Jeremy yelled "move move, dismount!"

The squad dismounted in seconds, rifles and lmg up and ready to fire on the first hostile thing that moved, the Harpy quickly lifting back off and heading back towards the fleet, to pick up more Airborne troops, Jeremy made a few quick hand motions and his squad began forming a perimeter around the LZ, a terrifying sight for any enemy troops witnessing the quick deployment.

His face was covered by the faceplate of his helmet, but his vision was not obstructed, and he said into his squad communication network "keep a wide spread, we could have artillery come down on us any moment"

Hofstade, Beliany

A squadron of three fighter jets flew over the Dutch Army. The Amperiale Air Force throughout its 149 years of existing, had been used very sparingly in wars. The Prince Régent's grandfather and father preferred land warfare, they found it more showy, more intimidating and easier to show to people victories and losses. The glory of war for much of the region still remain. There had yet to be a war so destructive or devastating as to turn the people away from it in their mortal soul.

But the Prince Régent had no such reservations. His father was a peacemaker, and why his grandfather had been a conqueror, it did that as a warrior and emperor. André was a soldier and a General. He understood that any and all available weapons had to be used. He had ordered the squadron to attack the advancing Dutch Army.

In the air, pilot Jean-Claude Gerger fired his jet's missives at the Dutch. Eight missiles shot down towards the ground in a clean curved path, exhaust trailing behind the deadly weapons. To Gerger's right and left his fellow pilots Louis de Leden and Theo Castex fired their missiles as well, aiming for the middle and front of the moving army. The Duke of Angoulême wanted minimum damage to the infrastructure of the country, so they wanted to make sure they attacked the army and not the area around them, aiming for tanks and artillery but not roads.

Henry III's armoires motorcade cane to a quick and unpredicted end. The young would be monarch gasped as he looked around. He leaned forward and called at the driver.

"What is happening? What is wrong?"

The driver looked back.

"It appears that the soldiers are being attacked by air forces. Some of our trucks and tanks have been destroyed!"

"Then get us out of here!"

Henry bit his nails intently. This was bad, this was really bad. The Dutch were weak in the matter of the Air Force. They couldn't dare to try and meet them in the air. No, they needed to hit them head on, hard. The Duke of Angoulême was so over confident he would never expect that, and they might be able to catch them off guard.

"Order the army to retreat, forget Bleugate. Go straight for the Duke."

Osteend, Beliany

The Osteend Police Department had alerted a Belian A.S.E.T. Team to the invaders. They, under Commander Sacha Lussier attacked the Viscovian division, launching tear gas and spraying thick smoke into the air in order to cloud their vision. Two armored cars waited in the wings to attack the enemy.

While the smoke temporarily blocked the soldiers vision, their helmets filtered out the tear gas, and they quickly switched to thermal optics, allowing them to see through the smoke. Two of the Royal Army's mobile battle suits had been deployed, each carrying a 40mm chain gun modified for use by the suits

The soldiers opened fired on the enemy, the Viscovian VC-38 rifles crackling, sending their 6x55 rounds flying with good accuracy towards the enemy, as the door gunners of the newly landing Harpys opened fire with their machine guns, spraying the woods with 1500 rounds a minute, as more Viscovian Airborne soldiers dismounted with great haste

A half dozen men fell to the ground as Commander Lussier and two more jumped behind one of the armored cars. Three others fell low so they were on their stomach and spent a spray of bullets at the enemies' legs and feet to cut them down.

The second armored car started up and charged the enemies the mounted machine gun blazing as the entire vehicle was used as a weapon to crash into the enemy while the first one was used to protect members of the A.S.E.T. Team from gun fire.

A MBS unloaded into the armored car as it charged, the loud cracks of the 40mm Cannon filling the air, drowning out the machine gun and assault rifle fire. As the firefight continued the Viscovian Airborne soldiers continued forming a perimeter, as more landed in the Harpys, while the VTOLs that had already dropppedboff troops were returning to the ships.

Jeremy said to one of his squad leaders "take your men and secure our south-eastern flank, the enemy should come from that direction and we need to be prepared."

Viscovian ships were staring to unloaded troops into AAV-7 amphibious amtracs, while the Royal Army's hover APCs and hover tanks began to be loaded onto bigger landing transports. The sound of naval rail guns rang out, as several large warships began to fire on the town, attempting to soften up any defensive force. The sound of the shells exploding against buildings and the ground was deafening.

The first wave of soldiers was already beginning to approach the beach, the amphibious vehicles firing upon the shore with their dual machine guns, trying to supress any defenders on the shore trying to stop the wmexpeditionary soldiers

The armored car exploded and flipped over, erupting in flames. Commander Lussier, seeing that they were woofully outnumbered by the invaders could see that this battle was not going to end in their favor. He ordered a retreat and his men, those who were left retreated northeast. The remaining armored car drove away as well.

In the town of Osteend there was panic in the streets. There was terror as people in their homes heard the explosions rattling the town. Others were less luckily as buildings collapsed from the force of the attack. In the center of the town, people dropped everything and looked to flee. There was no proper army in the city and they realized that they had to get out.

As the attack took place, Gabriel Badeaux snapped pictures of everything, running through the crowds. As a shell hit a building to his right and snapped another picture of the burning hole in the office building. He switched to his phone and began a live stream of the devastation. All he do as gasp in shock as he recorded the sight from the midst of the crowd.
