An Embassy Gala(Open to Greater Dienstad)

Postby Mokastana » Wed May 17, 2017 3:51 pm

Embassy Event Centre
Embassy District
Mokastana City, The Islands
People’s Unified Federation

La Cuidad de Mokastana was the premier international city of the People's Unified Federation, and perhaps even of the Far East in Greater Dienstad. So many cultures, visitors, invaders and allies, had passed through its streets. From the Grealite district of Little Sasha, to the Morridane Quarter in the east, every inch of the city spoke of those who had shaped Mokastana, and the Federation, into what it was today. It was not uncommon for citizens to stop by their Lyran Bank before going to a Lamonian style restaurant, having a wonderful discussion about Macabeean art and ending the night in a Ghantist inspired nightclub. It was truly a city that never slept, stretching from coast to coast along the width of the largest island in the Sea of Moka. Over 16 million people lived and worked in Mokastana City and its surrounding suburbs, calling it home.

It was also the Capital of the People’s Unified Federation, complete with an Embassy District to maintain relations with the many nations of Greater Dienstad and beyond. The first thing anyone approaching the Embassy District would notice was the two meter high walls surrounding the entire neighborhood, complete with armed, if not fashionably dressed, security guards. Members of the Embassy Defense Group, they were the PUF’s Elite soldiers, guarding Federal Embassies across the world, and the many embassies here at home. Here, they acted as a special police force inside the Embassy District, checking passports for those who wished to enter, and keeping the peace for those who maintained a relationship with the Federation.

It was inside these walls that Foreign Minister Elizabeth Franshaw set about making a small diplomatic event happen. It was a Gala, nothing too fancy, but a party for all local diplomats and a few flown in from out of country. She had just returned last week from the Celebrations in Morrdh for their Queen, and while many leaders of allied nations met and mingled last week in Morrdun, this would be a smaller event. This was mostly for ambassadors, to maintain contact with nations that the Mokans and their Federal siblings didn’t always make time for. Of course, Heads of State and other Foriegn Ministers were invited, but it was not expected many would show. Still, Elizabeth ensured that all things, from security to food, were ready for the guests to arrive. Both from their own Embassies, and from across the world.

The Event Centre itself was a masterfully crafted, and recently built, event hall just for events like this. Its exterior was a combination of Terra Cotta roofing and white stone walls, with roman style columns in front, to guide guests up the stairs and into the main entrance. Large Glass windows of the three floors surrounded the building, many stained various colors to dim the light coming in, and to obscure the light going out. The bottom floor was conveniently absent of windows instead surrounded by non flowering bushes. It was, by many accounts, a very typical Mokan Styled building.
Once inside the color palate was a simple light blue, green, and white, colors of the Federation but kept soft to fade into the background. White tiles with simply patterns adorned the floor, while wooden doors to each side of the entrance led to various offices and rooms used for the Event Centre. Two staircases, one on each side of the main entrance, led to the second and third floors, where green carpet and blue walls led to more offices and private meeting rooms. Straight ahead, was the entrance to the Grand Ballroom, where tonight's festivities would be taking place.

Elizabeth herself was dressed in light grey suit with pants, blue blouse underneath, flag of the Federation pinned to her right collar. Her bright red hair and pale skin matched very little to the olive complexions and brown hair of the stereotypical Mokan, but she, like so many else in the Federation, had mixed blood. Somehow the Franshaws always seemed to retain their red hair, regardless of their partners, but genetics wasn’t something she was familiar with, dplomacy was. She waited inside to meet and greet the guests who would be arriving tonight. Rumor was that a few special guests, from Kolechia and a relatively unknown nation called The Northern Cascades, would be arriving. They were an unknown at the moment, but the Federation survived not on its strengths, but on its friends.

A few other high ranking politicians from the Federation would be among the guests tonight, but they would arrive in due time. For now, a small buffet had been laid out, with local fruits and various sea creatures, such as crab and shrimp, were laid out, ready to be served by a dinner staff. A string quartet would be playing classical songs from Mokastana and other well known composers from around the Region, even some pre-Ordernite Germanic tunes were on the playlist tonight. Elizabeth smiled as the first guests came into the Event Hall. Tonight, well, tonight was going to be a good night.

Mokastana City International
Mokastana City, The Islands
People’s Unified Federation

A private jet, with markings of the hammer and sickle, lands quietly in the city's largest airport, and out steps an exhausted woman in uniform. Following her are four lightly armed soldiers. The five of them are escorted to a motorcade, which they silently enter. The journey to the complex is a professional, silent one. Kali Suvorov, the Emissary, rolls her shoulders. She's wearing an officer's uniform, light gray with an array of medals and symbols, including the Cascadian flag and the hammer and sickle. She also has a yellow tie. She has black hair cut short, and strong cheekbones, as well as deep green eyes and sharp facial features. She glances out at the city, uncomfortably shifting in her seat. She was not told much about this nation, but after all, her job was to gather information. So far, she is not impressed.

After a few kilometers of driving, the motorcade reaches the district, and the four guards are made to relinquish their weapons, which they do immediately. In the Northern Cascades, the Empress is making strides to disarm to populace for fear of violence and crime, so Suvorov appreciates this gesture. They are brought further into the Complex until they are near the Event Centre. Suvorov and the guards thank the escort, and exit the motorcade. They then orderly walk into the Event Centre, looking around at the sights. The guards are dressed in a similar fashion to the Emissary, but with gray ties.

Simon Sutta. The name that has been a royal pain in the rear end by many foreign ministers and fellow ambassadors. A witty, incredibly smart man who could pick apart anything you told him, to expose anything even remotely untruthful.
It so happened to be that Mr. Sutta was the ambassador to Mokastana, and he had a free schedule that evening.
Dressed in his signature black suit with a trace of white running along the sleeves and pant legs, and a stand-out blue tie, it would match the blue of the Federation colors that adorned the Event Center. It was not an ugly suit, but quite unusual. To the people watching him, it made him unpredictable and cautious. To himself, the suit was in tribute to his family back home and the clothing his mother used to make for them.
It was a short stroll to the Event Center, so the stout Vectorian informed his staff of his impending absence and departed the embassy down the street. He crossed many familiar faces along the way, most of which tried to hide or appear busy when he drew near. Simon merely smiled to himself as he strode past, not giving it a second thought. The ambassador approached the event center, its soft lighting trickling from the large windows, and the increased presence of suited personnel outside. Simon never could understand the ‘unique’ way of Mokastan buildings. He himself was more of a conservative and would be quite happy in a concrete box. Then again, he had to keep reminding himself that not everybody lived aboard a warship for ten years. Simon approached the grand entrance, and without question nor complaint, Simon subjected himself to the security and moments later strode into the building to see who may welcome him today.

International diplomacy. It was an utterly foreign and alien concept for most Haize but for the ones in power, it had gained substantial foothold. It was a foothold that managed to dramatically shift the Junta’s collective focus from being hermit as they were, into newborn infant with curious gazes directed at the grand game of chess played by powers that be in Greater Dienstad.

It all happened with context seemed inscrutable to outsiders; the destruction of Haize legacy satellite network, the diplomatic humiliation over Istegium dispute, the threat of Lyran Order beyond the border and recent hairline trigger of mutual assured destruction over atomic strike at Lindun. Whilst most of them were solved and even outright ignored by some echelons of Haize politburo, one command changed it all; Sashan Vidin, the Founding Comrade of Haishan had decreed for the nation to embrace international diplomacy.

The steps were already in place through diplomatic compromise reached with People Unified Federation over recent international disputes and mutual agreements with the Golden Throne. The Vidin pulled the final trigger; on this day, the Founding Comrade made his first visit to a foreign State that majority of Haize Junta had approved other than the mighty Golden Throne. It was logical and pragmatic to the extreme as the Junta has started to trust the Mokans by signing favourable trade terms for the Federation.

More than thousand tonnes of food and produce were imported daily directly across the heavily fortified Haize-Mokan border and they were expected to rise in the coming years to come. Another less discussed factor was the Junta or rather the Vidin intent to personally confirm the stability of Mokan leadership after President Milano was outcast from his throne of rule. This is of course paired with an alternative motive for the Junta to make itself known to greater parts of Dienstad rather being cooped at home in Far East.

Like the Cascadian delegate that arrived earlier, the Vidin arrived through a private jet with a handful of most trusted members of Haize Dasko; flanking to his right is the Speaker of Lower Assembly Heriz-Kako, followed by Chief Commandant Veryz-Namez that presides over Haize Armed Forces. To the Vidin left are Dasko Commissariat Akazy-Levet and Trade Minister Cecyz-Eri. Beyond them were screened personnel from various organizations in the Junta, signifying the diplomatic weight behind the delegation.

All of them wear the trademark dull grey attire of Haize government that are rather notorious for their indifference into individuality and artistic tendencies of other Dienstadi nations. What are noticeable would be obviously their varying faces and the name tag attached to them, out of courtesy for the Mokan hosts. Indeed, it looked like as if Haishan didn’t care much to flatter or present themselves befitting of their status but for the politburo that are just a fledging chick in international diplomacy, this would be a great step for Haishan. And an honour for the Mokan host as the Vidin himself decided to finally entertain a diplomatic missive in contrast of other Haize dealings with other governments.

As fast as they arrived, the Haize delegation rapidly whisked away to the place of meeting in a motorcade as authorized by the Mokan authorities. But true to Haize pragmatism, only a select few knew of Vidin decision to personally attend the diplomatic event; the Junta did not tell its neighbor the Federation of his participation and arrival until the delegation had reached the designated place. For all of its worth, Sashan Vidin didn’t regret the decision and enjoyed the splendor arranged by the Mokans as most Haize only knew of Macabee luxury items or Mokan food but not a trip into another country.

For majority of Dienstadis, the Empire of Greater Nifon was a land shrouded in mystery, legends and half-truths, with all of it's inhabitants being warlike samurai ready to hire themselves under a contract for whatever right wing power demanded their help. Nothing could be further from truth, albeit no one in Nifon would deny the legacy of over 800 years of permanent civil war, beginning with the famous struggle between Kira and Akamatsu clans, ending only in mid XIX century. The fault has been partially on the sons of Admiral Yi themselves; there was not another nation in Greater Dienstad that was as xenophobic as the Nifonese were, and while their society possessed ability to assimilate "gaijin", it always done so without loosing their national identity. Many of the Kojiro's subjects prided themselves on being most remote area in Greater Dienstad, one of exceptional cultural and ethnic homogeneity, with very few minorities being present.

Even since 1860s when Emperor Genji took power, leaving this world in early 1920s, Nifon undertook several waves of modernization, each time assimilating rather than accepting. Under Shogun Kojiro's rule, another revolution - the information one - took place, with the industry gradually being replaced with services, driven by exceptional work culture developed by conjunction of protestant and tanzist concepts, ever driving the Nifonese population further and further. A new form of government, one that made the liberals across Dienstad shudder in fear begun to develop, fueled by the very information technology that previously thought would open Nifon to cosmopolitan influence first time in history. But Shogun Kojiro, instead of attempting to halt globalization, used a method common among the Nifonese martial arts - "Do not stop the river, for you will be crushed. Manipulate the current instead". And as the famous masters of Seirei-Kyu use the opponent's energy against itself, Kojiro used the very technology that brought globalization against liberalism. And thus constant bombardment of manga and anime made under guidance of Gunpeitai, filled with carefully selected themes, but always having something in common with bushido, samurai and "Nifonese values" filled the markets of foreign countries, while the "popnationalism" bombarded the market at home. Hybrid society that never had Enlightenment nor embraced it's values was on course to create new, technocratic middle ages through a hybrid state where institutions melted under weight of Kojiro's vassals.

Nifon however made as well enormous inroads into foreign markets - especially due to enormous high-tech sector and growing services market. The government currently observed process of transition from export-led economy into one more driven through domestic spending. At the same time, despite it's rapid economic growth and hurricane like entry into political scene, Nifon has not yet confronted any major power in Greater Dienstad. So far chances existed for some kind of conflict against Lyrans or Lamonians due to their association with New Hayesalia; but those likely diminished after, following capture of several Hayesalian navy vessels, a meeting was organized between Asuka Tokugawa and newly re-elected Daniel Hayes. Still, one could not deny that Kojiro had grand ambitions, and only time was going to show how were they going to be realized....

Ambitions required allies, thus upon receiving instructions from Ishikawa, the Nifonese ambassador Hagiwara Soramon quickly headed to the Mokan gala. Mokastana was not a country that held most favorable opinion among the Nifonese political elite, but at the same time, one of most characteristic traits of said group was that they held very little ideological constraint. While Nemawashi or Neo-Tenrigakism was often alluded to in speeches of Shogun Kojiro and during the governance process, those were ethical systems rather than true political ideologies, speaking very little about matters such as administration or economics - let alone the fact that the philosophies were a guide, not a worldview and should never be taken absolutely. Thus no matter how much dislike could be aimed at Mokan ideology or political system, it could still be treated as a buisness partner, especially due to large Nifonese diaspora located here that would serve as conduict between the zaibatsu and the locals.

He slowly stepped inside and took a look around, trying to orient himself in the situation and formulate the strategy of his behaviour....

"Bishop Cardale, Diplomatic Duties for the month?" the young man asked, the assembled clergy all eagerly awaiting their assignments. The Eastern Dienstadi Diplomatic Corp, Mokastana Division, was all atwitter lately. There were the obvious issues in the region with Non-Human Marshites being the target of violence, and the resultant counter-strike by some of the faithful. There was always the sincere threat of escalation though it behooved both allies to keep that from happening. There was the all consuming drug trade, some of which Marshites approved of, some of which they didn't. Being able to walk that fine land had proven difficult for some of the more liberal and conservative members of the Corp, but for the most part, Cardale was pleased. The events of The Shift had certainly caused a tremendous amount of chaos for a time but that had settled. There were very few absurdly dangerous assignments left, which meant that the outsized corp had opportunities.

This was good. Marshites conducted diplomacy different from other nations. They had an 'ambassador', yes, but most contact of the official variety as well as most deals being struck were done by a rotating cast of clergy who hoped from place to place, role to role. In this manner they could accumulate experience while those who showed proclivities in certain areas of diplomacy could be better used. It also helped limit the potential for a representative of the Theocracy to have their will too highly turned by corruption from outside. When not busy with diplomatic efforts, the Corp was tasked with bridging the gap between Marshites and Non-Believers by Conducting Good Works. Helping build, farm, feed, vaccinate, whatever was needed and they were allowed to it. The man or woman negotiating the construction of a new military base for Marshites on foreign soil one day could be spending four months getting hands dirty building shelters on impoverished lands.

It made Bishop Cardale's job easy, then, when all he had to do was assign someone to the attendance of a gala being held by their allies. There was no doubt going to be nefarious nation-states there to do the bidding of whatever darkness took hold of the hearts, and it was a Marshite's job to be the light that led the righteous from that darkness. So all he had to do was assign someone who wasn't a knucklehead and was pleasant. Not entirely too difficult. His Corp was newer than others, but well-stocked with good souls. He had to make sure he didn't get in their way by being too cute with his assignments. "All in good time, Father Jina'dara," he smiled, "though I suppose I did need someone with your eagerness down at the Marshite Clinic in the Morridane Quarter. Outbreak of Gengen fever- we've been allowed to intervene. You will help with vaccination, treatment, and preaching the word when you deem it appropriate," Cardale responded quickly. The younger man nodded enthusiastically and left the temple they were meeting in.

Within a few minutes, all eight assembled left with their assignments. While Cor Dabenair was sent to help the Non-Human faithful find their way before things got too intense, Samantha Raychild was to meet with assembled local officials to give a somewhat stern warning as sent by the Theocracy regarding the lives of Marshites in the area. Jina'dara and Tobias were sent to deal with the outbreak, Malicia and S'ai'talawanda were heading off to Project 13, the Marshite nickname for a housing development in the international city they had volunteered to help with. Rebecca Cane was handling negotiations for the Ambassador while he was on the Conversion Tour and she was already on the phone with staff, making arrangements for the upcoming schedule. That left Stan Darabin, and Stan alone, and he was somewhat puzzled by his assignment.

"The gala?" He asked. He was getting up to go even as he asked, his assignment and fate sealed. "Bishop Cardale, there are others more suited to this."

The Bishop nodded.
"Exactly. Now go and make yourself presentable. Might I suggest Montana Moda y Vestimenta?" He asked with a smile. Stan had adjusted to The Shift as well as anyone, but he wasn't a formal type by any stretch.
And that was the fun of it.
----------------

Well, it could be worse. Not much worse. But worse. Am I showing too much leg or not enough? Gaaaah, why couldn't I have been assigned to delivering the warning instead of this? Stan thought as he breached the entrance, wearing a green cocktail dress with matching heels. He had experience- he didn't plan on fumbling around at such events, though he detested them. Maybe detested was the wrong word. He simply thought they were stupid and outrageously wasteful. Two words. Such extravagance. All this money could have been spent on more important things, instead wasted so a bunch of high society-

-Stan sighed. He had to keep it together, and more importantly, try to discard some of his more harsh critiques on the state of allied societies. As vexing as he found the waste of such events to be, he had to admit that at least someone had to find the events enjoyable or else no one would want them. He submitted to security- didn't take long and he came alone, so it took nary a moment- and then made his way in. Elizabeth was here. She was his main Point of Interest tonight. His main goal was ensuring that snakes full of ideological poison didn't strike her down with their honeyed words of deceit. Beyond that, he had free reign, with the general goal of establishing relations or finding out what he could from friend and foe alike. He had been briefed on who to expect; beyond that, mysteries.

He found her and made a beeline for her, bowing when it was appropriate. "Madame Elizabeth, a pleasure. I am Father Darabin, of the Grand Theocracy. Stan, if you'd prefer."

The Timocratic Republic was a relativity new nation, founded on old land. She was born from the Civil War and the Rebellion. Gone were the soft people of the old Federated States and in there place was nation of harden soldiers and fighters. After sorting things out home and firmly establishing a new government, the leaders of the nation decided it was time to re-enter the international stage and secure alliances and friends . As result many embassies across Greater Deinstad had been opened and one of them was in Mokastana.

Ambassador Bridget Kennedy was tall for a woman with brilliant red hair that spilled down her back in waves, her bright green eyes show bright with intelligence. She had the curves in all the right places. Tonight she wore a long green dress with simple pearls and heels. She walked with confidence, her heels clacking loudly. Following her we four Marine guards in dress blues and her assistant who wore a dark green business suit with skirt and flats. She was much shorter and slimmer and looked cute.

Ambassador Kennedy strode through the entrance and and paused at the entrance to Grand Hall. Her guards had to be searched and turn over there weapons. Then they joined her and his assistance and they all entered the Grand Hall. It was a beautiful structure but was mostly empty with only a few other dignitaries present. Ambassador Kennedy looked around for anyone she recognized.

Her eye fell on Elizabeth who was already talking to some woman in cocktail dress and heel. Ambassador Kennedy walked over smiling brightly with here perfectly white and straight teeth. She waited for the woman to finish introducing herself.
"Miss Elizabeth it is a pleasure to meet you. I am Ambassador Bridget Kennedy of the Timocratic Republic. It is wonderful to be here at your gala. I must say the building is beautiful."

I choose the second definition of it. This meaning rule by virtue and not owning land to be allowed to vote or hold political office. Instead one is required to serve time in the military (currently 6 years)

The Northern Cascades arrives...

Elizabeth’s ear radio crackled to life. Informing her of the first arrival. The voice in her ear identified the woman approaching as a Kali Suvorov, an Emissary from the Northern Cascades. The light gray military uniforms and impressive collection of medals certainly gave the woman a military authority, along with her four aides/security guards. Growing up in a Military family, Elizabeth was more than familiar with kind of people the militaries of the world made.

“Bienvenidos a Mokastaña, Emissary Suvorov,” Although Elizabeth looked the part of a non Mokan, her accent was on point. Clearly sliding from a the light rapid Mokan accent to a sturdier Russian accent for the name. “Glad you could make it, my name is Foreign Minister Elizabeth Franshaw of the People's Unified Federation, food and refreshments are across the hall, and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. ”

Across the room, acting President of the Federation, and Speaker of the People Rutilio Gomez checked his watch while discussing a few last minute details with Admiral Miguel Peron, the acting Naval Attache for this event. Miguel looked like he drew the short straw and wasn't happy about it, but he still wore his light green Naval Uniform as one would expect from an officer. Nothing out of place, and not a speck of dust anywhere. The acting POTF wore his own black suit with a white undershirt and Blue Tie. The previous president, Henry Milano, had been the face of the Socialist Workers Party and done great things for the Federation. However, overstepping Constitutional rights never turned out well, and so it was up to Rutilio, a member of the People's Party, to finish up the final Year in Milano’s six year term. Hopefully the year would remain dull as the Federation recovered from its major overseas wars of last year.

“If you would like, I can give you a quick tour. Across the Hall, in the black suit is acting President of the Federation Rutilio Gomez, People’s Party, next to him is the Military Attache for this event Admiral Miguel Peron in the Green uniform. By the refreshment table is our Economics Minister Emilio Lunes, People's Party.”

Elizabeth paused to answer any questions the visitor had, and after a bit of back and forth, a women of oriental descent, standing next to Elizabeth, whispered something into Elizabeth's ear. By her upright stance and sharp eyes looking through her glasses, it was clear this was a bodyguard. Elizabeth turned, “Thank you Raji, if you'll excuse me your Emissary, more guests have arrived.”

A new Vector...

Elizabeth turned to the entrance to greet Simon Sutta. His suit choice was certainly unique, and if she remembered right, this ambassador was a bit cantankerous. Not necessarily a problem, just meant that Elizabeth had to know how to handle such a person. Of course, politeness was still required.

“Welcome Ambassador Sutta, glad to see you here.”

Elizabeth was in the middle of giving Simon the same rundown when a voice in her ear piece came on panicked: “We have a surprise visitor, Enacting Procedure Green.” Elizabeth’s eyes widen for a second mid sentence, no doubt earning a snarky comment from the Ambassador, before excusing herself. “Please excuse me Ambassador, I have something I need to take care of.”

Something Unexpected...

With that she politely walked into the main entrance, leaving the guests in the Grand Ballroom to mingle among themselves. Climbing the stairs on the left, she finally picked up pace on the second floor to the control room. Quickly entering and closing the door behind her she spoke up to her already busy staff.

“Procedure Green, who is here?”

“Sashan Vidin, himself. Just landed. We told told them to hold him at the airport until more GDE units could arrive, but GDE says safest place in the Embassy District. The convoy is on Do Not Stop orders and escorted by DIN to bring him here.”

“Estimated Time of arrival?”

“Five Minutes.”

“Did we confirm this with the Haize?”

“We confirmed it was him with the Haize government just now!”

“Mierda… Alright, how is Security? Food prep? Intel team? Do we have the Mokan Tres on standby?”

“Juventud is aware of Foriegn Leader in country. Air Control is there's and local Reserve Guard is active.”

“Food Prep is preparing the Heads of State dinner plans.”

“Intel team has a briefing ready for the President.”

“Airport and all diplomatic assets are on standby for your use.”

“Good, get the President briefed quickly in a side office. Just the basics, have him back in the Ballroom to greet the Vidin when he gets in.”

As Elizabeth rushed back to the Grand Ballroom before the guests could catch on that something was up, she could only help but wonder if this wasn't the Haize equivalent of a joke. At least she had plans in place for this kind of event. Presidential suites and private meeting rooms were already being prepared across the city for the Vidin’s visit and possible overnight stay, and somewhere, a Jaguar steak was being prepared. A Mokan Tradition to bless a meeting. She would, of course, need to find out if the Vidin had any allergies first.

Four minutes and fifteen seconds later, Speaker of the People, and acting President, Rutilio Gomez, was in the main entrance personally greeting the Vidin to the Gala.

“It is truly an honor to meet you in person. Please, follow me into the Grand Ballroom. Is there anything my staff can do for you during your visit?”

Ambassador from the Far West...

With the Vidin secured in the Event Centre, the first mini crisis of the night was resolved. Elizabeth almost felt a ting of relief when the next guest was only the Nifonese ambassador Hagiwara Soramon. Relations between the East and West had been strained ever since the war with the Ordernites, the fall of Red Star Union and the rise of so many Right Wing ideologies in Western GD. But there were roughly 30 million Federal Citizens and Civilians who claimed ancestry going back to Nifon. Most located much further East in Aqua Anu, but quite a few moved to Mokastana proper as well. Cultural integration was a point of pride in the Federation, but for some reason, the Federal Nifonese continued to resist.

Elizabeth gave a short, but respectful, bow to the Ambassador, before greeting him and showing him inside. So far, the event had only begun.

Guests were welcome to try the food, speak with any Federal government official here, or even gossip among each other.

Emissary Suvorov stomps further into the hall with heavy boots, studying the surroundings for a moment curiously. She makes her way to Elizabeth, waving her hand and indicating for her guards to make themselves scarce. They stomp their left boot to the floor and straighten as a salute, then doing as told. Finally, Suvorov stands in front of Elizabeth, towering, with her hands behind her back and posture straight as a board. After Elizabeth finishes introducing herself, Suvorov firmly shakes Elizabeth's hand and nods in greeting.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Minister," she states, smiling softly. She had a strong accent, sturdy and with Slavic roots. "I will not bother you long. We are just here to begin foreign relations at long last, and I believe such a beautiful place to be a wonderful place to start."

After some more brief discussion with the Foreign Minister, she is told of the acting president and the others. With a nod, she thanks the minister and salutes. Shortly after, Elizabeth is whisked away, and Kali looks to the new arrivals. She didn't expect to know any of these people, but was disappointed nonetheless. She heads to the refreshment table to view what has been provided, hands behind her back. She was truly quite tall, almost as tall as the Empress Herself, which is quite a feat in the Northern Cascades, given the Empress' height is slightly exaggerated. After studying what was provided, Suvorov again turns her attentions to the new arrivals, but does not approach anyone for the moment. No, for now, she would observe. She would talk when spoken to, and happily meet those who came to her, but for now, she was among those who knew one another, an outsider in several ways.

Simon Suttra took the Mokian host leaving with a grain of salt. The look in her eyes was nothing new to him, it was the same look his lieutenant had on his face when he was informed there was a hostile submarine group targeting the ship, many, many years ago. That set of panic, of unexpected change. The cover that even though there were countless hours of training drilled in, there was always those few moments of shock. And that was what he saw in her eyes.

The Vectorian ambassador knew those eyes, but he also knew his game. "See a ghost?" Simon started before the Mokian excused herself. 'Politer than I would have pulled it off...' Simon thought to himself after her withdrawal. Simon scanned the room as it slowly filled up. There were many faces he recognized, and many he worked with in the past to achieve great things. Simon may be known for his attitude, but he was great at getting things done. That's why he still had his job. While many of the faces here were polite and political, they hardly knew their job from a Vectorian sand slug, while Simon knew the right people to call, and could broker an international trade deal by lunchtime. Not many people nowadays could boast to that. As Simon examined the faces, there was one that stood out from the rest. Perhaps because the woman was the tallest in the room by a large margin. At least head and shoulders taller than Simon.

'Well well well,' Simon muttered to himself. 'A fellow mil'try folk.' Simon weaves through the crowd effortlessly like a ghost, a tribute to navigating around on a cramped warship for his career. As Simon approached Emissary Suvorov, he noticed 'She looks even taller up close!'

"Good evening ma'am." Simon proudly announced to the woman. "I am Ambassador Sutta of the Republic of Vectors. And who would you be?"

Suvorov only has to wait a few moments before seeing an approaching man. Squinting, she slowly straightens and rolls her shoulders. From the crowd, a guard watches the man closely. Well dressed, he seems. Possibly an Ambassador, or another Emissary like herself. She was indeed the tallest woman in the room, a Cascadian trait. She always considered it made her a hard worker. And Intimidating. She liked being intimidating. Looking down at the man, she silently nods.

"Good evening, Ambassador," Suvorov bows her head slightly, before continuing, "I am Emissary Suvorov, from the Empire of the Northern Cascades. It is a pleasure."

She holds out her hand, a white glove on. In her periphery, she catches glimpses of other arrivals, but keeps her eyes trained on Simon.

The Vectorian had indeed seen her rolling back her shoulders, giving herself another three quarters of an inch. ‘ She wants to be taller, so I will be more… me.’ Simon thought to himself. And grinned.

After the introduction, Simon thought; ‘A gentle giant, perhaps.’ The ambassador began his series of questions to get to know the individual, and whether or not it would be worthwhile to offer such an individual Vectorian government communications information. Simon began;

“Why an emissary, and not an ambassador? Surely the Northern Cascades has active foreign relations?”

''I see we have arrived. Thank you driver.''

A well dressed man stepped from his black car, adjusting his blue silk tie as he turned to the conference centre. In a lounge suit, small Themisi flag pinned to his lapel, the Ambassador of Greater Themis to Mokastana cut a smart figure as he paced towards the event, flanked by two of his colleagues. More of the junior diplomats would be arriving later, he knew - but for now, it was only him, the Counsellor for Military Liaison, and the Counsellor for Trade, Business and Commerce. He had no need for guards here, a cool confidence in the Mokan security apparatus and a car waiting on standby a minute away all he really needed. Despite the militarisation of all aspects of society in country, the embassy was likely the safest location in the country.

A middle aged man, he had taken a number of posts before being elevated to the rank of Ambassador Plenipotentiary, one of the most senior positions in the Diplomatic Service, the flag on his car reflected his rank fluttering in the breeze as it left. With the dark hair and tanned skin of a Themisi southern native, he almost glowed in the evening light, as he approached the grand entrance to the event. He was no stranger to the occasional gala and party that the Mokans liked to hold here, in the international city that was Mokastana City. And of course, it would be an opportunity to have more of an open discussion with some of the nation's representatives his colleagues had met in passing. Courting their interest. He had no particular manifesto for the evening - though he was sure that others would.

''Thank you officer. Mr Rigas Tolomei, Ambassador. I have with me Miss Colette Sava and Mrs Stefania Taris, who will be joining me for this event.''
The two entered the hall, shoes clicking against the cool white tiles, the brief discomfort of the evening heat disappearing as they passed through the grand doors. In the warmly lit interior, the ambassador's eyes lit him as he saw a figure he recognised, the Foreign Minister he had met once previously, busily attempting to run proceedings and greet guests concurrently.

''Good evening Señora Franshaw, Minister, I trust you are keeping well?''

There are two opinions Greatet Dienstadi officials had on Potthan: A land full of rich economists or a land full of ultra-conservative war mongers. Though both is taken as a compliment by Potthani officials, the latter is obviously meant to be a bad thing. Disobeying the advise of many senior officials in the Senate of Foreign Affairs, Emperor-Warlord Jericho III has personally taken the time from his busy schedule to attend this political event as a means of understanding his neighbors. This would be the first time an Emperor has left Potthani borders for any reason besides military action since the 1700s.

The young, but wise Emperor enjoyed his flight on his chromed-gold private jet drinking champagne and eating Potthani desserts. He knew due to his physical deformities he may get some dirty looks, not many see a political figure with war scars, heterochronia, and a mechanical left arm. Jericho is a highly decorated veteran of the Potthani Civil War (1999-2004), which is a surprise to many foreigners. In Potthan, even the Emperor goes to battle. In fact, he leads it.

Nonetheless, he will not be phased by looks alone. Wearing traditional imperial robes, he landed at the Mokastana City International Airport and rode to the event.

After taking anxiety medication, Emperor-Warlord Jericho III walked into the event, greeting many he saw. Though due to sheer nerve, he mainly hung around by himself careful as not to disturb others. He simply observed as many conversed and debated among their-selves.

Suvorov makes a fist with her extended hand, flexing it before putting it to her side. Handshakes may simply be a Cascadian gesture. She straightens back up, and blinks slowly.

"The Northern Cascades is a new Empire, sir. To test the waters, the Empress has sent me. It is up to Her whether I become a permanent Ambassador for Mokastana. An Embassy also has yet to be built here."

To continue a previous conversation...

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Minister, "I will not bother you long. We are just here to begin foreign relations at long last, and I believe such a beautiful place to be a wonderful place to start."

Before being whisked away, Elizabeth had one response to the representative from The Northern Cascades:

“If you think this is beautiful, you should check out the beaches. The Tourist areas tend to be packed, but I can show you a few good ones elsewhere on the Island.”

Elizabeth took a second before realizing what she said might be taken the wrong way, but hoped to gloss over it and pretend it was only a simple friendly offer, nothing more. Thankfully her bodyguard’s voice distracted her with the arrival of more guests.

A Holy Visitor...

"Madame Elizabeth, a pleasure. I am Father Darabin, of the Grand Theocracy. Stan, if you'd prefer."

Elizabeth saw the ‘Father’ in his beautiful Green Cocktail dress and heels, despite having a Marshite bodyguard at her side, Marshites still took some getting used to. At least being able to identify the males from the females. The Father, like most Marshites these days, was rather attractive, but Elizabeth kept such thoughts to herself.

“Welcome Father...Stan, glad you could make it. Always a pleasure to see you.”

Much like the Father, Elizabeth had similar feelings about the displays of wealth and extravagance here. Growing up in a very influential, but socialist and military, family meant that the Franshaws valued practicality over style. Her Degrees in Federal Politics were supposed to be her tickets into the Socialist Workers Party and eventually running for offices. She had been Grandpa's a good little negotiator, although he died in battle when Elizabeth was only six, he lived on in her heart, motivating her to make the family proud. While her brothers and cousins went into the Navy and Army to carry on his legacy, she went into politics. Yet, had it not been for President, then Senator, Milano, she might have been the most prominent Socialist politician these days, instead of the Foreign Minister.

She smiled again at the Father, she would need all the friendly faces she could tonight. There was enough trouble going down with the Marshite populations of the Federation, with active murders between them and the Nifonese populations, whose ambassador was also here tonight. The joys of international politics, and multiculturalism.

A Merican Interrupt...

Before she could begin again, the next guest arrived, an Merican from the Timocratic Republic, the Ambassador Bridget Kennedy. Both Bridget and Elizabeth had red hair and green eyes, albeit one kept her hair short and in a bun, while the other had it spilling down her back in waves. While Elizabeth was a little on the thin side, it seemed that Bridget was, very much a woman.

"Miss Elizabeth it is a pleasure to meet you. I am Ambassador Bridget Kennedy of the Timocratic Republic. It is wonderful to be here at your gala. I must say the building is beautiful."

“Thank you very much, Ambassador Kennedy right? I believe we met once before.” Elizabeth joked, the voice in her earpiece already gave her the name and home nation of the ambassador approaching her, “Welcome the Gala, please try some of the appetizers and Wellovian Brandy. Help yourself as well Father.. I mean Stan. My apologies, I was raised Orthopraxis, it is hard to break the formality. If you will excuse me, I need to greet the Themisi Ambassador. We will talk again soon I hope.”

As Elizabeth left, Admiral Miguel Peron came over to take her place. He was an older gentlemen, with deep lines in his face and dark brown head full of hair that matched his well kept beard. Under his arm was his formal head cover, a Green Military Cap matching his Green military uniform. Unlike the Cascadian emissary, he wore no medals, only a few campaign ribbons, his rank prominently featured on his sleeve. For unlike the Army and Naval Infantry, Navy Officers only hid their rank on deployments. This was technically not a deployment, even if the waters were slowly becoming shark infested. Still, the Admiral was here to act as a diplomat for the Federal Military, and who better to start with than one of the most well armed allies the PUF had.

“Father Darabin, it is a pleasure, allow me to once again extend the thanks of the Federal military for fighting alongside us in the Red Star Union. We could not have done so well without Marshite assistance.”

A Themisi visit...

''Good evening Señora Franshaw, Minister, I trust you are keeping well?''

It was still technically Señorita, but Señora was a title of respect, while Señorita still carried the connotations of youth and naivety, despite both simply being about marriage. It was a cultural decision to use the more respectful term, which might have been the Ambassador's intent, or he might have just gotten lucky. Either way, it implies a respect, and no intentions for courtship, as was expected in this venue. None of these thoughts even crossed Ms. Franshaw's mind as she responded.

“Only too well Mr. Tolomei, guests are arriving and tonight's event seems to be even more popular than previously anticipated. It will be a good night for international relations and hopefully for old friends to catch up. Please feel free to mingle with the guests let me know if you need anything.”

An Emperor among us...

Another voice in her ear, another Procedure Green. The Pottani Emperor himself was coming. Of course, this one had the decency to inform the Foreign Ministry of his arrival before their plane landed at Zapata International Airport. He would be arriving soon, and the voice in her ear simply informed her that the Emperor-Warlord Jericho had landed. He would be here shortly, for the moment, she conversed with Mr. Tolomei and his aides. The Acting President no doubt still busy with the Vidin. The Emperor-Warlord would arrive soon enough, and when he did, she would greet him.

When he did arrive, he seemed to keep to himself, and interesting behavior choice from a man who was actively committing genocide, but never the less, he was a guest of the Federation, and therefore Elizabeth, as much as he stood for everything she despised, she had to play nice.

“Beinvenidos a Mokastana, Emperor Jericho, I hope you are enjoying yourself tonight, please let me or a server know if you need anything.”

"Ah!" Simon exclaimed. "Allow me to welcome you to the wonderful world of politics!" Simons face lit up like a child's as he dove into a long winded ramble about everything politics, from the basics of phycology to how to negotiate interregional military excersises. It was not too boring material, but rather overwhelming. It was a thick novel translated into words and set upon the subject. Hopefully she had a good memory.

After many solid minutes of conversing and sharing much of his knowledge, Simon bid the Emissary farewell, and stuck out his hand for a handshake. After firmly grasping the woman's hand, Simon said "I'll put in a good word for you to your foreign ministry."

Ambassador Kennedy smiles as Elizabeth leaves to speak to other guest at the gala before turning to speak to Father Darabin until an Admiral intereceted him and spoke to him of some aid his nation had supplied the other. Once he was finished Kennedy introduced herself
"Father Darabin, it is a pleasure to meet you at least. I am Ambassador Bridget Kennedy of the Timocratic Republic. It truly is a pleasure to finally meet some one from the Grand Theocracy. I must say you look marvelous in that dress and those heels. Would you like to perhaps join me for a drink?"

As a rep approached Jericho, he began to think to himself how to respond to common banter.

"Haromme Elizabeth, I am enjoying myself. Thanks for asking." Jericho said in his deep but bold voice. "May you direct me to where I can get a beverage? I am parched." he asked.

Jericho held out his left hand, which be mechanical, to shake the hand of Elizabeth for his right hand was occupied due to carrying his handkerchief. He proceeded to shake hands with Elizabeth and investigate his surroundings a bit more.

"And..."

"And hu-what!?" Lord Simone scowled, looking down at his watch, still plainly irritated at the being sent on some diplomatic 'errand' to make niceties with a long list of former enemies, current enemies, and future enemies.

All by that bastard High Foreign Minister, he said cursing to himself at the very memory of that self-aggrandizing sycophant, who had casually nestled himself between that psychotic Emperor's ass cheeks, calling him into the Maraburoi Palace. This having come just days after Simone's first son and his clan's heir had been killed in some stupid battle in that G-d forsaken jungle of Kulona, his body still yet to be recovered from a land of cannibals and savages, who had 'somehow' been equipped with Lyran weapons.

The very thought of abandoning his wife, whose tears now filled the sleeping chambers in which she had confined herself in mourning, pained Simone's heart to no end. Now he was to play chaperone to a small set of diplomatic corp, some of which were young enough to be his children; a mocking reminder of his own loss.

"My apologies Lord Superior for disturbing you," said the young Lordess softly and with a hint of fright in her voice as she nervously binded her silken blond hair, having seemingly angered the Foreign Ward Minister and a Lord far above her own class, something that could doom her in a foreign ministry that had just begun to allow it's female personnel to travel to foreign nations.

Lord Simone sighed, recognizing that the twenty something year old was not the source of his frustration, but merely a victim of it. He also carefully examined the reactions of the other personnel in the car, including her own peers; some of which were evidently excited to see their female colleague, still seen as an unnecessary interloper, be reprimanded.

"It is inconsequential...Neh-tenyae, correct?" Simone said, softening his tone considerably.

"Yes, Lord Superior, Natanya of Ward Clan Koranova, pledged to Low Clan Kravra, which is pledged to Clan Inferior Koram, which is pledged to Clan Superior Koramov, which is pledged to the Most Eminent Clan Koranorav which is pledged to House Kavora...P.T.H.M.H.E.R1" she said, acknowledging and repeating her nobility allegiance back to him, aware of the slight smiles the name House Kavora elicited as well as her extremely low rank in the class order.2

"Kore-nov-eh...Ah pledged to ze Koreh-mov? You are from ze southern island zen?" he asked, recognizing the name Koramov from his war days.

Still drawn by the beautifully emphatic way her name sounded coming from from the Far Northern Accent of the Superior Lord, she almost didn't answer his question.

"Yes sire," Natanya responded, still maintaining the tact required of Nobles of all class, while moving between the excitement of her family name being said by a Eminent Clan Leader and the embarrassment of being recognized as being from the Southern Razman Islands, a place mocked by most high leaders as being a backwater cesspool whose only claim to fame was the only major slave revolt in Ralkovian history, which of course gave birth to famous saying 'you can send a man to his death, but you can't send him to Razman.'

"Zen you are in pledge with Ehntoni Koreh-mov. He is an excellent man, great warrior and general. I fought with him in Dulimane when we were almost just kids. First battle against the Dulimane, a good enemy, honorable, ancient people...not like what we have now," he said, catching himself quickly before his attitude began to sour.

"I will introduce you to him sometime."

"I thank you for your generosity my lord, and hesitate to spurn such kindness, but my family and I am quite close to Lord Koramov already. He was there for my birth!"

"Really!? Well I will have to tell him that if he has lost so many colleagues as friends that he is now attending his sworn families children's births, then he truly has fallen further in the ditch then he did in Dulimane," the Noble Lord said, laughing at his own joke.

"Well you'd have to find him sober first, and that is no easy task," she added.

He smiled inwardly, taking a slight liking to the girl, much to the chagrin of the other diplomats.

Arrival

As the delegation, six in all, with a Death Guard assigned to each, and two for the Ward Minister arrived, the three young junior officers heads swiveled, taking in the foreigners. For those three this was the first time seeing an outside country, which according to Ralkovian propaganda was a world of plain degeneracy and weakness. For those three, it was also the first time seeing foreigners outside of those that were slaves in the Grand Ralkovian Empire.

It was well known that Ralkovia was a feared and hated state, recognized as that by even it's own people, but that was intentional and supported by that very same populace. After all, the gazelle feared and hated the lion, and a lion that was not feared or hated was a lion not seen as a threat, but as a play-thing. This was recited to the diplomatic corp as religion and the action plan was always to be confident, deliver speech strongly, and portray strength.

Yet Natalya's stomach had already begun to churn as they walked up the steps to the gala and she could feel her breath tighten every time she walked forward.

Marshites, Lyrans, Monavians, and Lamonians

Enemies of Ralkovia.

Enemies of the Emperor.

Such names only filled her with slight dread.

Any of which could be in attendance.

It was then that they arrived at the entrance.

From GDE personnel synchronized albeit somewhat nervous demeanour on appearance of Vidin to swiftness of the entourage being brought to the meeting place despite the hustle and bustle of the International City, the Haize delegation cannot help but felt impressed by the efficiency of their Mokan host on handling the surprise visit.

For the Vidin however, he didn’t come here to be amazed by the Mokan professionalism but to build new bridges and connections. The Junta had warmed up to President Milano but his sudden resignation sparked greater interest in the Founding Comrade and subsequently the Junta toward the Federation. Indeed compared to Haishan, Mokastana have been embroiled in two major conflicts and subsequent issues whilst still able to organize this gala event.

Telephone calls can only give as far and for the Vidin, he valued person-to-person talk than anything; for Haize in general, seeing the other party is basic courtesy in Haize society that one is willing to lend an ear and put his or her opinion high on the list. Such was the case for the Vidin’s entourage that seeks to bring the Mokans and prospective foreign hopeful into round table of negotiations; the Junta was interested to invest in Far East economies and clarify its standing in Eastern Dienstad Trade Organization.

Next to the list of agenda were Haize Armed Forces intention to deconflict between Global Aerospace Trade Association and Commonwealth Colonial Authority of which the Federation is member of. The last item in the check list would be the Haishan Trade Bureau intention to test the waters with non-Eastern States in conjunction of Haize political elites.

All of these were summed in the lineup of heavyweight diplomatic force assembled by Haishan as the Vidin felt that it is better to strike when the iron is hot. And it began with a handshake between the two men of influence; President Rutilio Gomez on the left side and Sashan Vidin on the right side of the entrance. For outsiders, the difference couldn’t be more obvious where the Vidin’s ashen white hair contrasted with the black hair of the Mokan president.

“It is truly an honor to meet you in person. Please, follow me into the Grand Ballroom. Is there anything my staff can do for you during your visit?”

The Vidin heartily replied to the Mokan President while keeping his bluish eyes locked onto him, “Oh! Hello, comrade! May I ask where is el presidente Milano?”

“Your Excellency, President Milano has stepped down.”

“Really?” The Vidin recoiled for a moment, noticing his verbal slip. He quickly fixed his posture, exuding an aura of uncertainty, “Errr, sorry for that, Comrade…”

“President Gomez, Your Excellency.” This time the Haize Commandant interjected, after the Speaker lightly shook his head.

“Yeah, that’s right!” The Vidin gave a slight glance to the slightly obese Commandant before gearing into certainty. “Please excuse us for the abrupt visit. We have a saying in Haishan, that good things come in unexpected ways. Well enough talk, let my comrades introduce themselves.”

After he finished his sentence, the Vidin moved a little backward in order to make space for his aides to greet the Mokan President. The rest of Haize delegation took the sign and dispersed themselves in the vicinity for this was a time for men and women of influence to make their move. The first to step forward was the Speaker, accompanied by his sharp square glasses and neatly combed black-bronze hair.

“Thank you, Your Excellency. Good day President Gomez, I am Heriz-Kako, Speaker of Lower Assembly.”

Next to the Speaker was the Commandant which firmly grasped Gomez’s hand, indicative of his decades of military experience.

“Likewise, fancy meeting you here, President Gomez. I am Veryz-Nemez from Haize Armed Forces.” He quickly parted his hand whilst caught trail of the Trade Minister which nervousness swayed her dark red hair. “Hey Cecyz, introduce yourself!”

Understandably, the Minister is still wet behind her ears for these kinds of occasions. She steeled herself and gave the President the best smile she can manage. “Oh! Sorry! I am Cecyz-Eri, from Haishan Trade Bureau.”

“And I am Akazy-Levet, or just Akaz. From Haize Commissariat.” The last was the Commissar, a thoroughbred of Haize politician with his businessman-kind of gesture and summarized introduction.

The Vidin then replaced Akazy-Levet, signaling President Gomez of things to follow; his gaze amounted to a gaze coming from someone with a lofty vision, someone befitting as builder of a State. He condensed the energy of his posture and beamed another smile toward the Mokan President.

“Comrade Gomez, I have grea- I mean, we have great plans to make Far East great again! We will be bothering you for the next few days; our government had sent the tentative and we have lots to discuss. Isn’t that right, comrades?”

Naturally, the Vidin aides nodded at his question for they were fully aware of great plans concocted by the Junta. Next step after trust would be to build further mutual understanding and cooperation. The train was already in motion as the Federation had provided the Junta with stimulus to bring such visions and hopefully, achievements into international spotlight.

“Yep, Your Excellency. We have a couple of frameworks to be agreed upon.”

“And a few tours to add.”

“Shush, I know you’re raring to go to Mokan beaches but wait a little bit Commandant Veryz” The Vidin gave the Commandant a light banter before focusing back at the Mokan President “Oh yea, before I forget, it’s in our custom to bring gifts when we visit someone else. Hope you and your fellows like it, Comrade Gomez.”

As soon as the Vidin clapped his hands, some of the remaining Haize delegation staffs brought up a couple of elaborately decorated boxes that were patterned in Haize traditional handiwork. The first wave of boxes left to the Mokan staff were bottles of Haize wine that have the same age of modern Haishan, carefully wrapped in golden paper respectively.

The second wave was two medium sized boxes that have sets of Haize steel cutleries. Unbeknownst to outsiders, they were some of the first objects manufactured in space by Haize military-driven space experiments. The final gift box was conveyed by the Vidin to President Gomez, which contained a fountain pen crafted by no other than the Vidin himself.

Of course, the Vidin didn’t tell the President of the pen’s actual creator out of Haize humble nature. These gifts would be the most lavish gifts Haize could offer, that usually preferred function than form. In fact, they were only done for exceptional circumstances as per Haize culture and psyche. In the sidelines, the Vidin hoped that these offers would assuage and placate some concerns regarding his sudden visit.

“We would also appreciate if you could inform us on when you’re available for a working visit to Haishan, President.” Thanks to the Commissar, the Vidin broke his trance on thinking the way forward.

He gave the President another handshake, gleaming with interest. “Yeah, I hope I can see you soon in Icturk City, Comrade Gomez. Now, who else I can talk to? Let’s start the business talks tomorrow.”

Elizabeth was perfectly polite, as hoped for and expected. There was some hesitation a expected when it came to the name. It was difficult for some. He didn't hold it against them. Flesh was flesh, identity a marker and not a decider, but it still caused some headaches for those whose vision was limited by it. No fault of theirs. "A pleasure for me as well, Madame Elizabeth. It was also a wonderful action we had together in the Red Star, though we still remain puzzled as to why we stopped. Of course when and if you desire the war to resume, simply call us. We've already made preparations to handle the more 'troubling' aspects of force projection in the area. It would help close the loop," he said excitedly, aware that non-Marshites were far more afraid of being the target of nuclear weapons than Marshites were. Still, there was always that hope for the future that her allies would join the Theocracy in eliminating evilness, cost be damned. For now, he didn't want to take up all her time. "You are in high demand, Elizabeth! I won't take up any more of your time. If you wish for me, simply seek me out- I am here to offer calm in a sea of malcontent, Madame," he said, removing himself slowly from view. She needed him, she could find him.

But there were still so many interesting things going on. Well, interesting mostly to others. Ralkovians were here. What a vast disappointment's in Mokastana. Slavers should be murdered on sight by any nation and their bodies left to rot unburied, food fit for the least moralsome of insects alone. But they were allowed in all the same, so Stan figured he would have to let it slide. Not their survival, of course. He would need to contact his superiors and let them know. Maybe a Shrine guard team could kill them at the airport or somesuch, international diplomacy be damned. Likely just fanciful thinking. He'd have to move on. The Nifonese contingent was here. They were an odd little nation to the Theocracy's north, full of competence and ambition and many noble qualities. Countered by the sad state of their social health and general attitudes. There was conflict between the peoples of Nifonese descent and those who followed the Most Righteous Faith, which made such relations even more fraught with peril. Marshite policy currently was to observe. It was known that the Nifonese thought poorly of Marshites. Marshites, at the moment, held no real opinion of the Nifonese and didn't quite care what such a new people thought of them. But there were so many interesting things happening here.

A new nation. An Emperor. Always exciting to see. All on the docket, all seemingly quality. An admiral- a military man, thank Marsh. Certainly a superior breed of discussion just by the nature of topics. Before long the Ambassador of the Timocratic Republic introduced herself with a fine compliment. Stan smiled. "A pleasure to meet you as well, Kennedy of the Republic. Though I find myself not as much a fan of this dress- I don't like formal wear, really. That and I still don't know what color of dress to wear or what goes with what, or if that matters. Suits were better. You look superb yourself! How is the Timocratic Republic these days?"

Embassy Event Centre
Embassy District
Mokastana City, The Islands
People’s Unified Federation

Abusaid Yamadeyev finally arrived at the prestigous gala, the Kolechian Embassy itself was not a large complex, indeed so too was the history of Kolechian ambassadorial work in Mokastana as of late. Ambassadors came from all parts and backgrounds of Kolechia and did their job, they kept relations intact, and they reported any major developments in the host nation back to home. Abusaid was the most recent and current ambassador to the nation. His appointment was made with only so much attention.

For Abusaid, this was a personal adventure. He had previously been in the Army, and had reached the rank of a junior commander, and had done so at a young age. He eventually got into Safadi's administration, his friends having higher connections than him. He was introduced into the diplomatic service as Safadi was forming a new government. Mokastana was judged to be a perfect location for him, considering they had an entire district devoted to working with foreign states. He had already seen many foreigners and their different ways of living, their problems and their stories, but this event would even be more international.

The new ambassador exited the simple black diplomatic marked car that pulled up to the building, and made his way up to the stairs. He passed by the well dressed honor guard and made his way by kind direction to the center of festivities. He approached the main entrance and immediately his memory began to work with intense speed, his dark eyes searching the room. There were many people here, more than he thought were coming. There were the hosts, Lyrans, the Potthani Emperor-a controversial figure, Vectors, and Nifonese to just name a few. He decided it best to make his way to the refreshment table first, perhaps make himself a glass of water, perhaps lookout for who else was in attendance, and make a few greetings. He briefly scratched his thinly shaved dark beard and made his way forward.

He entered into the beautifully set room in a simple dark blue suit and white shirt coupled with a matching black tie and dark dress shoes. Drinking from his cool glass of water he approached Elizabeth and called to her, his heavy accent still confirming his foreign roots. "Mrs. Franshaw! Ambassador Yamadeyev, it is an honor to finally meet you! Thank you for the kind invitation." His reached out his hand to shake hers, and began to lower his voice "I also wish Madame, to express our deepest condolences concerning the recent attack in your country, both myself and President Safadi hope that justice will prevail."

OOC: More responses underway, there is a lot going on, and subtext that needs to be text...

And back to Suvorov….

"Father Darabin, it is a pleasure to meet you at least. I am Ambassador Bridget Kennedy of the Timocratic Republic. It truly is a pleasure to finally meet someone from the Grand Theocracy. I must say you look marvelous in that dress and those heels. Would you like to perhaps join me for a drink?”

Admiral Peron smiled and gave a short bow. It seemed the two diplomats had managed to get each other’s attention and as such he could bow out and move on to other pastures. Diplomacy was not his strong suit, hence why he had passed up the position of Primary Admiral of the Federal Fleet to more competent and tactile leadership. Primary Admiral Consuelo was a good man, one that Miguel could serve under with ease. As commander of the fleets in the Sea of Moka, Admiral Peron’s opinions could still affect the regulations around him, but he didn’t have to deal with the bureaucracy directly, which is how he liked it.

Looking around, he saw another military officer, a woman in grey with a chest full medals, including a Hammer and Sickle. Communists were a rare sight in GD, much less ones that didn’t consider Mokan traitors to the Revolution. That was fine, the Mokans were loyal to the Revolucion, and that was all they needed to be loyal to. Peron approached the woman, remembering she was the emissary from a relatively new nation on the international stage. She saw him approach and was clearly sizing him, both as a threat and a person of interest. Peron did the same, but years of unwilling diplomacy had taught him to do it casually.

He was an older man, dark brown hair and a full mustache, lines had only began to appear on his face, highlighting his cheekbones and jawline. He wore a dark green military Uniform, with four gold stripes along his Epaulette on his shoulders, and four by his wrists on each sleeve. By Mokan Naval Standards, that put him one level below the Primary Admiral of the Entire Federal Navy. His Officer cap tucked under his arm, leaving his right hand free and able to grab both the .45 caliber pistol on his hip, and the Cerimonial Machete on the other side. Trying to be polite but offer some company that was not mere fast talking diplomats. Peron introduced himself to the guest:

“I am guessing that Diplomacy wasn’t your first choice when you joined the service?" Peron paused for a faint smile before returning to his stone faced look, "I am Dreadnaught Admiral Miguel Peron of Mokan East Coast Naval Command, nice to meet you.”

Addressing the Emperor Jericho…

The mechanical hand caught Elizabeth off guard, that was a… unique addition to… well, anyone. Elizabeth was no engineer but she knew a few types who might end up spending all night trying to figure out how the arm worked. She glanced over to the Haize delegation meeting with Acting President Gomez. Either way, the Emperor seemed a bit distracted, probably measuring up the guests, and getting a feel for the room. He was, after all, making headlines in the News Reels about how he handled his most recent ‘uprising’.

"Haromme Elizabeth, I am enjoying myself. Thanks for asking. May you direct me to where I can get a beverage? I am parched."

Yet he was very polite. Which was always a strange trait of malicious men in Elizabeth’s life. Perhaps this Emperor and Milano would have gotten along great. Under the watchful eyes of her personal security guard, Raji Fuyama, an Anuien Marshite who had experienced the Shift, she shook the Emperor’s hand. Security was already keeping an eye on the Emperor because while the X-ray didn’t reveal anything about the arm, it was still a metal instrument. Only allowed because it was attached to the body of a Head of State.

“Haromme, don’t believe I am familiar with that term, what does it come from?” Elizabeth asked with a smile, before answering the Emperor’s question, pointing with her slender fingers towards the back of the Ballroom

“Over by the refreshment’s table, we have a collection of Federal Spirits, juices and of course, coffee. Any of the staff in white suit jackets can help you.”

Elizabeth led him the drinks, but excused herself to leave when he found them. She got the impression he wished to only observe for the moment. No doubt he would find her again if he needed help.

Staring the Haize, right in the eye…

“Oh! Hello, comrade! May I ask where is el presidente Milano?”
“Your Excellency, President Milano has stepped down.”
“Really? Errr, sorry for that, Comrade…”
“President Gomez, Your Excellency.”
“Yeah, that’s right!”
“Please excuse us for the abrupt visit. We have a saying in Haishan, that good things come in unexpected ways. Well enough talk, let my comrades introduce themselves.”

“Please, please, just Acting President Gomez, I haven't been officially elected yet.”

The Haize might pretend to be completely inept when it came to diplomacy, but this was clearly a farce. Showing up unannounced, forcing the Mokan hosts to pull out all the stops on a last minute plan, getting briefed in a broom closet of a meeting room for a mere two minutes before being pushed out to meet the Vidin, for his first visit to the Federation. They knew exactly what they were doing waiting to finally meet in person when it was a turbulent time. Putting the Gomez on guard, bringing up his predecessor first thing in the conversation.

They knew the Speaker of the People was only fumbling his way through the last nine months of Milano’s sixth year. A new election cycle was about to begin, with candidates being selected as they hosted the meeting. They knew that any rapport built with the Acting President wouldn’t last, but they wanted to strike when the Federation was faulty, probably force through some deals and get things passed before a new regime took over. The Senate would double check his work, and they weren’t up for reelection any time soon, but if Tatom became a new member Nation… yes, things were rocky in the Federation indeed.

Talk about a power play, and now they outnumbered him and his two aides. One a thin Anuien girl with jet black hair tied in a bun and full rim glasses hiding her perpetual poker face, and the other a Wellovian redheaded man with a tie just a bit too loose for formality. Yes, this was going to be a tough match indeed.

A Speaker, probably of an equal position as Gomez’s old title, it was the Senate after all that made all the big decisions, but Parliament could make laws. Though Gomez didn’t admit, Parliament was probably the “lower” assembly. Next was the military man, Gomez glanced past him looking for Admiral Peron, but he was chatting up another foreign soldier.

“Well, I am not sure who else you would be expecting Veryz-Nemez.” He said with a smile, “Mrs. Cecyz-Eri, I might recommend you speak with Economic Minister Emilio Lunes, he’s around here somewhere.”

A Commissar, didn’t know that the Haize had to reinforce political Idealogy with such fervor, but it was clear the Haize came with every political gun they could, Vidin himself, Lower Assembly Speaker, a General or some high ranking officer, a trade specialist, and a Commissar, probably a spy. Yes, they were parking a diplomatic warfleet on his front steps, and he needed to pull back and regroup. Hopefully he could delay any major talks until tomorrow.

“Comrade Gomez, I have grea- I mean, we have great plans to make Far East great again! We will be bothering you for the next few days; our government had sent the tentative and we have lots to discuss. Isn’t that right, comrades?”

And with that, the Vidin just declared open season on Federal diplomacy.

“Of course, you are always welcome to the Federation, Comrade Vidin. I have staff making accommodations for you right now. As is our custom, please, take tonight and tomorrow for some sightseeing, visit the beaches if you so choose. This is your first visit and we want you to experience Mokastana in all her glory. Relax a bit before we get into the important topics.”

Gomez accepted the gifts, bringing in some staff to help find a home for everything, from the wine to the cutleries. Technically knives were weapons, but security was watching and as diplomacy goes, they were waved passed, if watched by a few eyes in the distance. Finally Gomez accepted the pen personally from the Vidin.

“I think i will have a case worthy of this gift, Comrade Vidin.” Rutilio said holding the pen. It was not every day a mere Parliamentarian earned a gift from a foreign head of state after all.”As for the Visit, I only have nine months left in this term, and have not decided if I am going to run for President of the Federation yet. I would be honored to visit, but I believe it might be best for my successor to make that journey.”

Ambassador Kennedy smiles brightly
"Why thank you I do try." She responds to the complement "Nonsence. you look fantastic in dress...I find suits to be so drab and boring myself though I do admit sometimes fashion trends, and fashion in general can be hard to understand, it comes in time with enough study and practice. As for the Timocratic Republic...It is doing fantastic."
Kennedy snags a drink from a near by table and sips from it to wet her drying throat
"The military is finding no shortage of work across Greater Deinstad, what with all the wars and conflict, people are looking for crack troops to fight for them. And all that money is steadily flowing back to the Republic which the government is then investing back into the country through various projects both large and small scale. Our industries are looking for more raw materials though, seems they are always looking out for new sources, since we export so many finished goods. The economy is currently booming overall. And it seems some research institutes made some break throughs in some key areas. Things are great back home, honestly... but it is a bit boring though."
Kennedy sips some more drink and eyes Stan
"The scenery is not as good for one." she says with a smile.

I choose the second definition of it. This meaning rule by virtue and not owning land to be allowed to vote or hold political office. Instead one is required to serve time in the military (currently 6 years)
