Belarus, sometimes known as Europe's last dictatorship, has been destabilized by a coup!

At approximately 3:00 pm(MSK) last night, rebel soldiers overtook the city of Minsk. President Lukashenko was shot dead during the raid on the Presidential Palace. Many former government officials have been arrested, including Major General Andrei Ravkov.

The Legacy of strongmen is at an end, with the fall of their wise and mistaken death of their leader known as Lukashenko. Belarus has rushed into democracy too fast,and a gradual progress will be made. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kandi Sandi was reading the daily news and information reports gathered by his staff. Most of it was mundane, uninteresting or entirely expected. It would appear that in Belarus, there had been a coup and the previous government had been deposed. While he did not recall any previous interaction or dealings with either the President or indeed anyone in the (former) Belarusian government, the deposing of a dictator and arrest or imprisonment of many government officials could not mean good things for stability or anyone involved. The new democracy would be highly unlikely to be a threat to or even know of the NMK so the Minister of Defense would not have to be informed unless some plans or actions went wrong in the future and would be officially supported by the Mushroomian government but Regent Vince would still be informed.

Turning towards less...official lines, the Minister saw an opportunity for one of the Government's associated operations to perform an operation and make a good chunk of mushroom coins. Mushroom Mercenary Services offers extraction and protection in addition to the standard merc jobs. It involved flying the customer privately and secretly to the the NMK-based head office, where a entirely new Mushroomian-based identity would be created for them. here never was a fixed price for this as it depended what they had done and who they were hiding from (unofficially, it also included how much the government liked and desired for them to be in the NMK), but they ranged from as little as a few grand to billions of mushroom coins. Officially it was a private company with hidden operators, but behind the scenes it was an autonomous group that was connected to the government as one of the more covert, loose mechanisms of action. Unofficial communications with the proper government was the source of the vast majority of customers, though this would never be admitted and policy was to explicitly disclaim any association with them.

The MInister told one of the staff assigned to communications with MMS and told them to inform them of the broad range of new clientele - both the former President's family if still alive as well as any politican or prominent person related to the former government. Priorities were the President's family and any other potential clients not already imprisoned or captured (Those already imprisoned would still be attempted to be contacted.)

Today, the New Mushroom Kingdom congratulates the new, democratic government of Belarus. While the deposition of the former President-dictator Lukashenko was certainly unexpected, it will be a good thing both for the government and freedom of Belarus, but also for it's people and economy who are sure to see an improvement under the new, free control of the new President. Regent Vince has expressed his full, personal support for President Alexi Novastov and is open to deepening diplomatic and economic ties with the newly democratic Belarus. However, the news and opinions are not all positive: We are disappointed that the former President was shot rather than forced to stand trial for their actions, and for anyone else captured or held in custody, we strongly recommend that they are treated humanely and receieve a public, just trial so they can truly face the results of their actions rather be under a new government no better morally and ethically than it's predecessor.

More secretly, Mushroom Mercenary Services worked and greased the right wheels such that two messages were sent: One was destined to the former President's family, the other was both sent and broadcast in an effort to reach as many former politicians and prominent people and supporters of the previous dictator's regime as much as is possible. As the situation was sensitive, high levels of secure encryption were applied to make the message unreadable to anyone except the intended targets (of course, if a device containing it was stolen this could fail to work properly.)

President Kim-Yong-Lee was walking through the halls of Parliament. It felt good to be back in the parliament after The Fold coup. "Sir, this just came in from Belarus" and aide said as he ran up to his side. "Okay, rally a meeting at The Pit, two hours" the President said.

"We can deploy special forces to locate resistance forces, then we could be able to take at least one airfield." General Fy-Lan said. "Mr. President, it's your choice, do we send special forces in or not" asked Admiral Wu-Hyun. "Send in the special forces. Admiral Wu-Hyun, order the Gu-No to slip her moorings, and send the RPN Chang-Fui in with them in reserve. Order the the Special Forces to ready up, they're about to take an all expenses paid trip to Belarus" the President said smartly. The President stood up and left the room.

After the news has reached Kremlin, the president Sergei Chernov was very ecstatic. For decades, Chernov dreamed of uniting Belarus with his country to establish a reformed Soviet regime once again. These men were tasked with infiltrating Belarus to make in difficult for any potential invaders to takeover the country, while the Naval task force made their way to the Baltic sea. "Gentlemen, your mission is to infiltrate the country and link up with resistance forces. Once you've linked up, you'll begin locating targets of interest, namely along the border with Russia. Once that is completed, you'll proceed to take part in guerilla warfare with the local resistance forces." Colonel. Thuin-Li-Shu said. "What's our entry point" King asked. " 300 miles from Minsk. Your C-17 will approach from the northwest sector" the Colonel said. "Weaponry?" Skull asked. "M16A4 Extended Clip, MP5 with silencer and ACOG sights, knife just in case, choice of 9 bang or standard flash bangs, as well as standard grenades. Ration packs for three days, quart of water. Camo is forests with field extras. Entry method is HALO." the Colonel replied. "Jump altitude?" Bulldog asked. "35,000 open chute at 1500ft" the Colonel said.

"Bulldog, remember to turn your safety on before you jump" King said. "Why?" Skull asked. "Because in his first jump, the guy didn't turn it on, and it blew a hole in his bag" Stinger said and the group started laughing.

At the plane...

The aircraft is a C-17 Globemaster. As the men boarded the plane, it was now the nerves were setting in. As the men settled in for the long flight, the aircraft taxied to the runway, it would require several refuelings to have a hope of getting to the drop zone over Latvia in time. "Alright guys make sure your chutes are ready to go." King said. "You need to strap in" the Loadmaster said. As the aircraft thud red down the runway the men began to drift off to sleep

High above Latvia...

"Five minutes to drop" King shouted. "Ready up!" the others shouted. The men made sure their kit and parachutes were set. The night was moonless, with clouds beneath the aircraft. "Cabin pressure dropping" the Loadmaster said. "Roger, thanks for the ride" King shouted as the rear door opened up. One by one, then men jumped wearing wing suits to glide further than normal.

During the descent...

The men fell, and as they did they fell through the weather. "Maintain formation" King said on the radio. As they fell they saw the border between Latvia and Belarus develop below them " Ten thousand feet" King said. In the standard line formation the men glided towards the ground. "PULL! PULL!" King said on the radio. With a shock to his spine, his chute deployed.

Landing...

The men landed in a farmers field suddenly. After checking for injuries the group moved to a forest and set up a radio and sent a coded message to an SR-71 Blackbird that read "All Hands On Deck" the code to indicate the men had landed safely. The RSO in the Blackbird replied "Batten Down the Hatches" the okay sentence. "Boss, I got two vehicles approachimg " Bulldog said. "Weapons at the ready" King said as he approached the vehicles. A man said "What did you see in the park on May the 13th?". "A blue elephant" King said. These people were loyalists and we're taking them to the resistance Headquarters

The men are flying their plane over Belarus. "Control, this is Baron 1-1, over Checkpoint 1, approaching corridor" Chink said. "Roger Baron 1-1, approach targets" the AWACS plane, over the Baltic sea, said. "Chink, what you got back there?" Zip asked. "I got nothing, just Tanks and SAM's, all the usual when you're getting ready to invade a country." Chink replied. As the plane soared high above the country, the men were safe in the knowledge that they were totally safe at this altitude, the mission was to outline areas of concern in preparation for an invasion by the Soviet Commonwealth of States. "Coming up to the first set of targets now" Zip said. "Roger that, jammer on, cameras on" Chink said. "I got MiG's on our left, accelerating" Zip said. The plane moved to Mach 3.4 to out run the MiG's. "Tell me we don't have the best job in the worldworld"Chink . "Yeah minus the fact we almost get shot down" Zip said.

"Baron 1-1, cleared for landing" the Capitol Air Base ATC said. "Gear down" Chink said. "Roger, 500ft" Zip replied. "400ft" Chink said. "Runway in sight" Zip said. "50ft" Zip said. As the Blackbird landed the crew were relieved that the mission was over.

"Excellent job guys, this mission will help our allies and the men currently on ground" Colonel Zhu-Li-Chao said. "Yes sir, as far as aerial threats toward us, MiG's, don't know if they were targeting us though" Zip said. "Okay, that will be passed on to the Gu-No pilots. And the aircraft handled okay?" Colonel Li-Chao asked. "Yeah, apart from a low pressure false alarm on Engine Number 2, nothing worth reporting." Zip said. "Chink, anything to add?" Colonel Li-Chao asked. "Ah, no, nothing to add" Chink said. "Okay, Debrief complete, have a nice day gentlemen" Colonel Li-Chao said.

Premier Sergei Koslov was reading a report on the coup in Belarus. The event was shocking considering that Belarus had great relations with the ULSR and losing it would have disastrous consequences. There were also concerns about their neighbor, The Soviet Commonwealth of States who are possibly preparing for an invasion of Belarus. He played the speech of the new president and recoiled in disgust after it ended. The poor fools don't know that trying to forcibly change a government would lead to instability and attracts unwanted attention. He then telephoned his staff for a meeting to discuss this matter.

After everyone had entered the room, they first discussed about domestic issues and other international issues before talking about the main reason of the meeting.
"So, does anyone have new information on this ordeal?" The premier began.
"Sir, there has been reports of heavy troop movements within the Belarussian-SCS border. They might be planning an invasion." One of his aides responded.
"Right, what is the status of the officials of the previous government, their families and their supporters?" The premier asked
"Some of the officials have been arrested including Major General Andrei Ravkov. There is no report on their families nor their supporters" Another of his aide answered.
"This is worse than I thought.." The premier sighed. "Send in KGB operatives to Belarus to help their families and supporters in escaping to the ULSR or any country that gives them asylum if they're being hunted down by the new government, help the officials escape if it's possible and survey any areas that the SCS could invade."
"Yes, sir." The aide responded.
The premier turn to another aide and said "Issue a message to the new Belarussian government about our condemnation of their coup and that there would be heavy sanctions until they step down."
"Understood, sir" The aide nodded
"Right, meeting adjourned." The premier said. Everyone then left the room to do their tasks while the premier returned to his office and decided to focus on the domestic issues for the time being.

General Fy-Lan was standing in the command room just off the Central Command room. He was looking over a map of Belarus when an aide walked in and asked "Sir how is the planning going?". "Okay, we still have the issue of how to launch an invasion from the sea when we have to cross a country to get there" General Fy-Lan said. "Well sir I came by to tell you the ULSR are on our side" the aide replied. "Okay a land invasion, launch from two directions" the general replied. "Yes sir" the aide replied. "Open me a line to the president." General Fy-Lan said.

"Good afternoon Mr. President" General Fy-Lan said. "Yes general, I received your memo, I will open up dialogue with the leadership of the Soviet Commonwealth of States, but what do we have to prove our intentions?" President Kim-Yong-Lee asked. "We could offer them intelligence from the recon missions?" the President asked. "Certainly not, not until we are sure that we will work together." the General said angrily. "Okay, I will contact the leader and forward those planning their invasion to you and your staff. While we work toward a political solution, while your staff and the generals of the ULSR plan a military solution" the President offered. "Okay, that sounds fine" General Fy-Lan said.

Premier Sergei Koslov was surprised upon hearing the news.
"I'm afraid that we overestimated the date of their invasion." The aide continued

"They're already helping some of the families and supporters of the officials of the previous government." the aide responded

"As well as the RPAF, the National Conservative American Air Force will be operating in the region, so we should use caution, avoid blue on blue" the colonel said.

"Shredder 1-1, cleared for takeoff" the Air Traffic Controller said. "Roger that Shredder 1-1, cleared for takeoff" Lt. Nu-Ji-Koi (Callsign: Strikeout) replied to the tower. As the C-17 thundered down the runway, the flight engineer (Callsign: Slicker) called out "80kts". "V1" Strikeout said. 'Rotate" Slicker said. And gracefully the C-17 soared into the sky. "We'd better do our low altitude checks now, seeing as we're so close to the border" Dread offered. "Yeah, uh, drop flaps, out. Power, set. Ramp, out" Slicker said.
