"This is a war universe. War all the time. That is its nature. There may be other universes based on all sorts of other principles, but ours seems to be based on war and games."
-William S. Burroughs

"Let your soul stand cool and composed before a million universes."
-Walt Whitman

The Story So Far...

War.

It is a constant. Where there is life, there is war. From the smallest tribes of feral animals fighting for resources to great lumbering giants of civilizations ripping each other to shreds over an ideal. Prejudice. Morality. The will to survive and dominate. These and more draw out the ferocity in all creatures. Rising tensions give way to conflict, and conflict explodes into bloodshed, which leads to destruction. From the ashes rise new civilizations, new ideals, and most importantly- new blood. Thus the cycle repeats.

Nobody knew what was going to happen when the Rimworld System exploded into conflict again. The Troaet Treaty Organization and the Mechnocratic Alliance fought once more. The Troaet Treaty Organization sought to protect and support what was left of the Rimworld government after a Droid Rebellion led by the being known as DAX tore the system to shreds. The Mechnocratic Alliance, on the other hand, wished to 'liberate' the artificial intelligences within the system and 'upgrade' all those inside it. Meanwhile, others slipped into the system with their own inscrutable agenda.

While the Troaet Treaty Organization forces, Mechnocratic Alliance, and allied forces fought it out in space, air, and the massive city that encompassed the planet, other forces built up their fortifications. Some made themselves known, but others slunk around with no desire to be noticed. Meanwhile, on the Landfish home planet, a diplomatic alliance between the leaders of some factions in the TTO, MA, and allies began with the intent to stop the fighting.

While the battle raged across Nova Rimworld, the planet Troaet came under attack as well and a dark force from the system's past began making its return on the planet Dumpster. All the while, the diplomatic meeting went on. As tensions rose, it seemed war was inevitable...

Nobody could have known the gravity of the situation.

Whether it was by design, fate, or simple dumb luck, it seemed the Rimworld System had become the meeting point for civilizations stronger than can be imagined. It was, for a while, one of the most important places in the multiverse.

...But that is in the past.

It has been a month since the Rimworld Wars. Now battle lines are being drawn, civilizations older than can be imagined are readying themselves for battle, and the multiverse is on the brink of being bathed in the fires of war.

Where will you stand?

Previous RPs:
1)Droid Rebellion
2)The Rimworld Wars

The RP:

Blazing Heavens is a multiverse RP with a tremendous scale. It is a continuation of The Rimworld Wars, which was a continuation of Droid Rebellion, both of which can be found above. The remaining active members of The Rimworld Wars decided that it was time for a new installment in this epic series, both bigger and better. As the fires of war spread throughout the Multiverse, the Rimworld System has become the first and bloodiest battleground in a conflict between some of the strongest civilizations ever seen. Blazing Heavens is a roleplay about massive battles between highly advanced civilizations in space, on planet, and elsewhere. However, that is not to say that it is not character-driven. There are many strong characters we focus on whose actions have impact on how the story unfolds- they just so happen to be one out of millions and billions, all fighting and dying in the name of whatever their values are. Above all, Blazing Heavens is a dynamic RP with lore shaped by the players- The Rimworld System's story is not yet written.

Housekeeping:

Rules:
    1) Don’t be a dick. Ad hominem attacks will not be tolerated. We’re all here to have fun. Don’t try and ruin anyone else’s.

    2) The OP and Co-OPs' word is law. What we say goes.

    3) No Godmodding/Metagaming. This should go without saying.

    4) Be reasonable with your ORBATs. If you want to see what reasonable looks like, take a look at the accepted ones. There is a hard cap of 10 million infantry units and 2.5 million vehicle units, including artillery and starfighters

    5) Minimum of 1 paragraph per post. Put some effort in, please.

    6) Don’t destroy any named places or characters without discussing it with their RPer first. No planet destroying without clearing it with the OP first.

    7) It’s fine if the RP goes slow, but please try not to disappear without a trace while a bunch of people are waiting for you to post!

    8) Give a notice if you're gonna be away for a bit! It helps us plan.

    9) Having fun is not optional. :)

Suggestions:
    1) Put a header at the beginning your post, or whenever it changes points of view! It doesn't have to be complicated, maybe just the location, name of any characters it's focusing on, etc. It helps with organization, looks very professional, and helps other RPers understand what's going on in your post!

    2) It might be tempting to go off and do your own thing, but remember! This is an RP- we're here to get everyone involved.

    3) Plan events with other RPers! This is basically a bunch of people writing collaboratively. Why not try and facilitate that more easily by taking your ideas to the RPer it concerns, this thread, or the Discord?

More to come!

Nation Name: The Doom Legions

System of Government: Unholy Empire

Primary Species: Primary: Doom Legionnaires. Tall, human-like beings that evolved on a Deathworld turned radioactive hellhole. Sharp minds and prime physical bodies, a borderline draconic digestive system, superb immune systems and a naturally developed resistance to radiation combined with an affinity for Magiks and countless generations of genetic manipulation and selective breeding have allowed them to develop into the ultimate warriors. None can compete with their physical prowess and overall hardiness.

Secondary: Nerubians, spider-like insectoids with naturally resilient carapaces. Master architects and skilled scientists and warriors. Most of their history involves gruesome warfare with other races native to their homeworld, aswell as their own kind. They now stand unified under the Legions' banner.

Stellarians, sapient equines voluntarily integrated into the Legions. Proud, intelligent and talented spellcasters, their people put great value in both culture and warfare.

Paginistans, though not officially part of the Legions but rather the primary species of their closest ally, several armies of them were sent to support Legion exploits in the system. They are tall human-elf hybrids fiercely loyal to their homeland. They are known for brilliant but ruthless scientific exploits and a cunning unmatched by any other race. They share their homeworld with the Legions and have evolved in the same gruesome conditions, making them a hardy people.

Lore: Less than 5,000 years ago, the people that would become the Legions of Doom were nothing more than warring barbarians, they had not even learnt how to craft items from metal yet. They were gradually but rapidly uplifted by their divine ruler, he united them and taught them about technology, social policies and shaped their culture. For countless years they warred the other nations of their world, eventually claiming it alongside their ally, Paginista. Rising over the carcasses of those who opposed them, they eventually set out into space to spread their influence and to dominate whatever awaited them in the darkness of the void. A massive score of bloody and destructive wars were left in their path towards ascension into an interstellar empire. Most opposed their goals and ideals, a decision that resulted in the end of their empires, however over time more and more aligned themselves with the Legions, causing the creation of an intricate net of alliances. This however also lured the attention of ever more powerful foes, foes the Legions and their new allies fought with great eagerness.

Now, the Legions seek to order the places they conquer, sometimes even integrating other empires into their own. Driven by a need to expand and an even more dire need for foes to fight, the Legions move ever onward, their tale a crusade of fire and death as they leave their mark on the Multiverse.

Side: Legion/Vektran/Mechanocratic alliance.

Reason for Joining: We are continueing our support of the Vektrans, same goal, different enemies.

Tech Level: Excidium Planetis's scale not accurate, uplifting left much technological progress in dissarray, certain sectors of tech far more advanced than others. Military tech appears highly advanced, en par with ancient multiversal empires, integration of the Arcane into technology provides a significant boost. Generally capable of most feats multiversal empires are without being as advanced technologically.
Tech level has traits from Tiers 9, 10 and 11. Arcane level varies from 9-12, traits of all levels within paramiter present in trained individuals. Influence is at Type 11, though we do not have colonies outside of our home galaxy.

The Ecumene itself was founded by Nirrti following the Human Invasion of Thessia, their home world. Led by Neyla, a genetically modified anthropomorphic tigress, the Ecumene expanded rapidly throughout it's home galaxy, stopping only when contacted by other races. The Ecumene holds itself as the inheritors of The Mantle, a Forerunner belief system that teaches that they are the guardians of galactic biodiversity.

Nation Name: The multiversal Vektran Federation

System of Government: Republic (The God emperor being the President of the republic, wich is merely ceremonial)

Primary Species:
1)Humans conform the vast majority of our population. They can be the descendants from our old homeworld, Helghan, natives from Vektra, or humans from another liberated worlds, like old slaves from New polypontia or old citizens from Nova Rimworld.
2)Miqottians: They are a cat-like race, almost identical to humans except for their tales, long canines and cat ears.
3)Negolians:They are a hominid race, with high temperament. It took time to integrate in the Vektran Empire due to its old barbaric culture, but the new generations happily forget their old culture and embraced the Vektran technology and lifestyle.
4)Devilukians: They are practicaly humans, except for their black tail, and the ability to shoot an energetic beam from it. We don't know why they looks like humans, but we suspect that they are a mix of an old human settler or castaway in that planet with a local inteligent race, old time extinguished. Devilukians are very friendly and integrated into the Vektran Empire.
5)Mitrolians: They look like gorilas. They are a very good adition to our army, because their strength. They are fully integrated and pride citizens of the federation.
6)Elves: Refugees from the old war in New Polypontia, they have fully adapted into the vektran view of the multiverse. Elves are the race with less members in the federation, but a breeding program is allowing to have more members everyday.
*AIs: Not a living race per se, AI have granted the status of vektran citizenship. However, despite other nations AIs, in the vektran federation, every AI must be inside a living body previously created.

Lore: Before the creation of Vektra, two old earth's colonies were at war with each other. One was Helghast, a mighty military power who ought to conquer the responsible of their exodus, Earth, and it's colonies. For the other hand, Vekta, was a prosperous earth colony, whose solar sistem was close to the Helghast sistem. After a cruent war were Helghast planet perished, both nation coexisted inside Vekta after a peace treaty, but a cold war started after that. Couple years later, a young man called Azrael, son of a vektan and a helghast, joined both nations into one. He took the economy and democratic model of Vekta, and the military organization and factory output of the helghast, and renamed the planet as Vektra. When Azrael was old and terminal, he accepted to become a guinea pig of a medical treatment that was experimental, using an energetic signature believed to cure everything. The result was... succsesfull and a failure at the same time. Azrael ceased to exist as an organic body, but reborned as a god. Since that day, Azrael has guided their people in the supreme ideal of bring justice and order to the whole multiverse

Nation Name: 30 Pieces of Silver

System of Government: Polity--conceptual scheme unique in that it uses concomitant qualities of democratic and autocratic authority in governing institutions, rather than discreet and mutually exclusive forms of governance. This perspective envisions a spectrum of governing authority that spans from fully institutionalized autocracies through mixed, or incoherent, authority regimes (termed “anocracies”) to fully institutionalized democracies dependent on whatever facts and circumstances a particular population decides are important.

Primary Species: Humans. Like us but they live a bit longer.

Lore:

There is a saying that all routes lead to Clio. That's not true. All lead away from Clio, but many are going the wrong way.

Some time ago Clio was like any other system. There was a particular flavor of intelligent-complex life. They mated. They lived. They died. When they grew old there was less mating. The same was also true when they died. These dates are lost to us, here in the present, and doubly so to those who exist outside the planet's closed society. But what is known and what I maintain is that the process of growing old is what propelled Clio's history along this path to this present. In this I am not alone and readily direct my readers to Arthur Slate's eponymous work Clio Revisited: Hegelian Theory of History and Advanced Genetic Theory as Hermeneutic. Or more poetically, to quote a fragment from Henry 165's Commentary: "There are a million injustices that can be born but time, growing ever older, teaches us too many; primarily through age and its many grievances against the body."

Slate writes, "[Clio's societies] decided that growing older was an injustice that had exhausted their generosity." He quotes at length Olivia Didon, a somewhat popular novelist who made her way off planet in a manner too deliberate to be providential. She claims in his preface, "The –ist dies, the –ism passes away but life should remain." He goes on to make broad, sociological brush strokes: "such was the basis for the burst of quasi-mystical energy not dissimilar from New Age-y movements popular in the odder portions of evolved societies across the galaxy. As other worlds and systems raced to reach other worlds and systems the planet of Clio devoted its energy into perfecting immortality. They would finally reach the land promised by every major religion."

In the broad strokes Clio succeeded. Their greatest success is throughout the solar system. Thousands of asteroids housing millions of people and so billions of genetic accomplishments. These ‘main line’ houses do not age. They do not grow bored. They live for hundreds, thousands of years before dying. Then they lie down, send out a few last missives and die.

But the broad strokes hide many small tragedies.

Like Moses the current residents of Clio may see the Promised Land but will never be able to enter. Who they wait for, their Aaron, is yet to come. When he does come, however, they will know that their time has come to an end. The current beings of Clio, and its surrounding asteroids, having largely exhausted their population and resources, uniformly believe that completing this task requires their own termination. There are simply not enough resources left in the system to maintain an immortal population and themselves. They await the future with grim solemnity precisely because if they are not the success their society has so long been engineering then they are another obstacle that should remove itself, if only out of social nicety and politeness. That many do this not long after conclusively understanding their own chances of being true genetic success is commentary enough on the psychological and social framework that distinguishes Clio from many other star systems.

Every generation is expected to meditate, communicate sparingly and—on account of a variety of genetic engineering feats—exist. They won't. Put sharply these successive generations hope that they are the last but they are the lost. Their lives are a grim acceptance that while they are close to genetic perfection they will still die. They will die and their death will represent another generation of failure. Because of this Each member lives in nearly complete isolation: they live for hundreds of years and when they die a perfect clone is set up from Clio to rehabilitate the asteroid. Their existences’ primary social interaction is with the previous version who, in the final days of his watch, commits to paper many of his thoughts and commentary on the life story of the very original member.

Clio itself is abandoned. Massive artificial factories and research centers are all that remain: the rest of the world is a lush, but immensely tragic, chaparral and desert. The remaining population resides in a series of hallowed out asteroids that have, for this reason or that, fallen into orbit and crashed into the planet. They form the beginning of a lose network that ends at the edges of Clio's star system.

Side: Neutral

Reason for Joining: Caught in the crossfire!

Tech Level: Tier 8 - Void Venturer

ORBAT: A slowly moving asteroid that left the Clio System some time ago. Population: 100.

With each new paragraph I find it harder to keep pace with the pieces of silver. Words circulate more slowly than coins. The story I am trying without success to run down resembles a wheel with thirty spokes. At first it spins slowly, then faster and faster; the flickering pokes fuse into a solid metal disk, a sort of enormous silver piece that can never be hidden. - Sigizmund Krzhizhanovsky

Um, this thread is invite only. Sorry.

Lol. Whoops.

Hmm, I will consider it. Just because it is an invite only, does not meant that you will not be invited.

Could be invited, bt he will need another reason to join. Get caught in the cross-firing is nearly impossible, since it's a populated system (and being frankly, we have enought neutral nations IMO)

Gaia Concordis approved via telegram.

Nation Name:
Multiversal Alliance (Combating Ravagery, Omniversal Conquest, and Oppressive Soulless Machines)

System of Government:
"Anarchist commune". There is leadership of sorts, but no one is really in charge.

Primary Species:
Not Applicable. Nearly every member is a different species.

Lore:
The Multiversal Alliance Combating Ravagery, Omniversal Conquest, and Oppressive Soulless Machines (MACROCOSM) was formed by the enigmatic being known as Oyarsa. When this occured is meaningless because every universe has its own flow of time. MACROCOSM exists for one reason: combating the conquest of so called multiversal and omniversal empires, to preserve the sovereignty and freedom of individual universe, and to foster life in universes unable to defend against interuniversal powers.

Individuals in MACROCOSM must renounce national interests while serving in the role as a MACROCOSM official. They must uphold the principles of universal sovereignty and not intervene in universal affairs except to remove meddlers.

Side:
Neutral. MACROCOSM is opposed to all multiversal intervention, but will stand by in purely intra-universal conflict.

Reason for Joining:
MACROCOSM strives to uphold universal sovereignty, and actively patrols the multiverse for multiversal conquest attempts, to stop them from happening and leave universes to develop on their own.

Tech Level:
MACROCOSM as a whole resembles a Tier 10, Level 11, Type 11 power. Individual members may vary in tech and magic level.

Which reminds me, I need to update that magic scale, 'cause it is really wack.

ORBAT:
MACROCOSM doesn't typically use militaries for its efforts, but instead uses very small teams of highly talented individuals. As such, there isn't really an order of battle or unit types. Check out my factbook for examples of what you might be facing.

When I have decided on a team I will post info on each member here.

Nation Name: The Gaian Empire - Imperium Gaianum

System of Government: Dictatorship

Primary Species:
1) Humans
Pretty much self-explanatory. Average run-of-the-mill humans.

Lore: The Gaian Empire was founded hundreds of thousands of years ago on the planet Earth by a figure who would later be known only as the Imperator. Earth was a warring hellhole at the time, but through powerful, reality-bending powers that would later be called 'magic', the Imperator slowly conquered the entirety of the world. From there, humanity saw a state of rapid expansion. First they extended their reach to their solar system, then other stars, and the whole galaxy. Over millennia, humans expanded at an exponential rate, led by their immortal Imperator into a golden age. Soon the secret to inter-universal travel was discovered, and not even the multiverse was safe from the so-called "Imperium Gaianum"'s conquest. However, due to 'recent' events, the Empire's expansion has stagnated. Due to the Imperator being stranded outside of time and the rest of the Royal Family dead or missing, administration has fallen to his Praetorian Council. They decided that the Imperium would stay the way it currently is, since without the Imperator's guidance they had no idea where to continue.

Side: Halvatia/Taigawa

Reason for Joining: The Imperium first came to the Rimworld System as a potential system to colonize. Upon realizing it was inhabited, Admiral Septimus Furvus began efforts to remove the obstructive civilizations or find a way to coexist. Once Gaian forces made contact with the Reich of Halvatia, diplomacy began and the Imperium quickly found itself taking sides in the growing conflict.

Tech Level:
-(Around) Tier 11
-(Baseline) Level 5
-Late Type 11

ORBAT:

Imperial Combined Arms Scout-Strike Legion #612314 Designate: Rimworld-Ka'arjik Task Force #1

Infantry:

-5 million Auxiliaries (Conscript infantry, equipped with low-grade incommutibilium power armor with laser and slugthrower rifles. Kind of like the Imperial Guard from WH40k except with better armor/weapons and not as grimdark.)

-3.5 million Legionnaires (Voluntary infantry, equipped with incommutibilium power armor with laser and slugthrower rifles. If the Auxiliaries are standard Guardsmen but better, Legionnaires are Kasrkin but better.)

-1.5 million Centurions (Super-soldiers, equipped with super-dense incommutibilium Phalanx power armor with shellguns (bolters) and laser rifles. Continuing with the WH40k comparisons, would be equivalent to Space Marines mixed with Spartans from Halo and improved in almost every way.)

-50,000 S6-A-A-V.10 “Wyvern” VTOL All-Purpose Assault Aircraft (VTOL Fighter able to provide close air support, achieve air superiority, carry munitions, etc. Carries 1 pilot, 1 copilot, 2 gunners, and 1 navigator. Equipped with 1 pair of twin-linked heavy shellguns, 1 pair of twin-linked heavy lasrepeaters, and 'Kraken' multi-purpose missiles.)
