OPERATION: JUDGEMENT DAY
Imperial Esplanade: The utopian paradise born out of the ashes of a war-torn dystopian state. The "Grand Republic" as it was known back in it's day, ironically attempted to be a force for good in the known universe. However, countless years of conflicting encounters with totalitarian human and alien regimes resulted in a substantial, and an unsustainable, militarization. Eventually, the Grand Republic met its' match and its' home world was destroyed when it's final foe had slung one of its' moons toward the planet itself. The survivors of these fallen nation had scattered, with some fleeing to what would become known as the "Freedom System." This solar system would become the center of a new interstellar nation, Imperial Esplanade, and it would dedicate itself to advocating peaceful coexistence with the universe and the scientific/technological advancement of all the known sentient species of the known world. As altruistic, pacifist, and xenophilic as this new society became, there was a growing darkness from within the state that steadily grew its' numbers through the years. One day, this militaristic and xenophobic "faction" would attempt to overthrow the government of Imperial Esplanade - and re-institute a government that is all too familiar to those who lived during the days of the ole Grand Republic. The day that this ideological struggle would begin would be known, simply, as "Judgement Day."
This is a sandbox roleplay, but with some rail to it - to help start the flow of things. This is going to be a unique roleplay as well, in that it is going to be simultaneously a character-driven RP AND one involving individual nations. You are welcome to chose either, or even both. Perhaps you want to roleplay as a servant for the Imperial Esplanadian royal family? Perhaps as a soldier in the military? Perhaps as a member of the resistance? Or perhaps as a civilian or a tourist or a scientist? Given the importance that the royal family itself, and some other high-profile Imperial Esplanadian figures, are to the "rail" of the roleplay, I am controlling those characters (at least for now). The rest are open for you to play as! The choice is up to you.
"FACTIONS":
- The Imperial Loyalists: Those who are loyal to the young, benevolent Queen Emmy, including international supporters and key allies who seek to defend the crown from being overthrown.
- The Resistance: The coalition of people who oppose the Queen, ranging everywhere from industrialists to communists to anarchists to militarists to nativists, including international powers who have affinities for any aforementioned ideologies.
- Other: This includes those who are unaligned, non-involved, neutral, pacifist, or (perhaps) something else to the contrary - such as a foreign domineering state that is seeking to exploit the opportunity to conquer a divided nation.
