Lonogradian-Iraqi Border

Sami Al Sayid was just assigned to his new post, he was the new commander of an outpost facing east to the Iraqi border, with him was two hundred other soldiers, four T-55 Tanks and two T-72 Tanks and ten BTR-80s which were supplied by the Soviet Union in the early nineteen eighties, most of the Lonogradian Armed Forces still used old cold war tech and weaponry and very outdated by today's standards. The reason there was such a high military build up was because of the war in Iraq, although the American invasion did Benefit Lonograd by ousting Saddam Hussein's extremely hostile and rival Ba'athist government, it did cause some problems, Iraq was plunged into civil war and sectarian violence, with Sunni Islamists supported who were by Saudi Arabia Risya and Bashiryya, a corrupt government backed by Shia Militias who were supported by Iran and Lonograd, Kurdish Militias who were supported by Hatay, were all battling out to control the country. Since the American withdrawal nearly six years ago, Iraq is still not at peace, thousands have been killed and injured and over million people have left the country with hundreds of thousands fleeing to neighbouring Turkey, Iran, Kuwait and Lonograd. However in a few recent years, a new Sunni Islamist Militant group called Jaysh Al Islam, and in the past few months, the group has been attacking outposts, towns and villages near the Lonogradian Border with rocket attacks, Suicide bombings and finally full on military assaults. This caused the government in Riyad to react by sending more troops near the border and to also tighten security so any Jaysh Al Islam militants couldn't cross into Lonograd and try to convince the majority Sunni population to rise up against the minority lead Shia government.

Sami has just finished his shift guarding the border checkpoint, his job was to check people's IDs and to check their car to see if it was full of explosives or were trying to smuggle weapons. As another soldier went to start his shift, Sami lit up a cigarette, he knew he soon had to stop smoking as it would be harmful to his unborn child who his wife was going to give birth to in just two weeks from now, he asked his superiors if he could have the day off then but he still hasn't got a reply yet. A old rusted car drove to the checkpoint, the man driving it was wearing a kaffiyeh to cover his face and wad wearing sunglasses to cover his eyes, when the checkpoint guard asked him to show his ID, he responded by saying, "Death to the Rafida! Allah Akbar!" He then detonated the car, causing it to explode which killed him, the checkpoint guard and managed to knock Sami to the floor. The explosion caused Sami's eyesight to go dizzy and a ringing sound in his ears, this only happened for a few seconds before it had disappeared, and well before Sami shouted, "We're under attack! Everyone get to your positions now!" The soldiers then rushed to their positions, several jumped in and started up the tanks, others got into and manned machine gun nests. Some got into the BTRs, while the rest took cover behind anything they could find. Then suddenly... twenty trucks carrying five fighters each, some with were fitted with Anti Aircraft guns, Heavy machine guns, and other Anti Tank and Anti Armour weaponry, with them were eighty other fighters marching on foot, armed with AKs, MI6s and RPGs, some of the militants were carrying a black flag, even some of the trucks were fitted with this flag and they all were fluttering in the wind as the jihadists got closer to the checkpoint. Samir shouted to his men, "Enemy approaching! Open fire!", before he fired his AK-47 at the incoming Islamists with the rest of the check point doing the same. This killed thirty jihadists and destroyed five trucks as most of rounds and bullets that were fired at them had missed, the fighters on the trucks fired recoilless rifles which killed twenty soldiers and three BTRs, one fighter used a 9M113 Konkurs Anti-tank missile system to destroy a T-55 tank while another used a TOW Anti Tank Missile launcher on a T-72 which completely turned the tank into a smouldering wreck, meanwhile the fighters who were one foot stormed into the checkpoint and started to get into firefights with the remaining troops there.

Sami was firing his Kalashnikov assault rifle fiercely, killing five jihadists, he then soon realised that the checkpoint would be overran and took over if he didn't call for air support quickly. He got up and ran towards the main HQ which had a radio in it, but before he could reach the complex, he spotted two Jaysh Al Islam fighters heading towards him, he quickly managed to shoot one militant in the chest, killing him instantly while the other shot Samir in the right shoulder, causing him to fall to the ground. The fighter was about to finish Samir off but he had ran out of bullets, so he pulled out a Bowie hunting knife, walked over to Samir, put the knife to Samir and said, "today you die, Shia Kuffar". Samir responded with, "no, today is the day you die!" He then knees the fighter in the stomach and stabs him in the neck several times before getting back up. He then finally gets to the HQ, gets on the radio and says, "This is Border checkpoint Charlie, we are under attack, I repeat we are under attack, send air support imminently". Outside, the fighting was getting ferocious, hand to hand combat was being used, dead bodies and bullet casing were littered across the base. Two Islamist fighters jumped on top of a T-55 tank, opened the hatch and threw in a grenade, they then closed the hatch and shouted "Allah Akbar!" as the tank and its crew were destroyed, however they did not have much time to celebrate as many were killed by Lonogradian snipers on the rooftops.

After thirty minutes of fighting, it looked like the Jaysh Al Islam militants were going to win this battle, however their dreams were dashed as two Mil Mi-24 Hind attack helicopters showed up, imminently they started to fire on the militants, ripping them to shreds, the helicopters also fired rocket at the now fleeing Islamist trucks with dozens of fighters who were also retreating from the battle scene. The soldiers that were still alive went out of their fortifications to celebrate this small victory against Jaysh Al Islam who had won so many before, however when Bashir Aladeen and the rest of the Lonogradian government hears about this, they won't be very happy at the lost of so many men and armour and that there was another attack on a checkpoint even that they promised to stop it from happening, although this would be a blessing in disguise as it would be the excuse for Bashir Aladeen to send the Arab Liberation Front or ALF for short, into Iraq to fight against Jaysh Al Islam and other radical Sunni Islamist Militant groups. Aladeen would hope that with a enough training, supplies and weapons, the Arab Liberation Front would create a puppet government in Baghdad, and when order and peace is returned in Iraq, he would later annex it as a first step to achieve a United Arab Republic based on Nasser's ideals.

Introduction

Through out all history warriors were trying to free themselves from the spiritual control of the clerics in order to reverse the social roles. Such attempts were mostly abortive because warriors were acting inside the priestly matrix, being defined in their strategy by the values of priests. However in the 7th century in the deserts of what is now Saudi Arabia a new paradigm emerged one where the lines of warrior and cleric were becoming more and more dimmer a new faith emerged one that would be spread by the Sword. This new faith had it's own political system and a code of laws that it's warriors lived by, it's warriors were interconnected to the clerics and vice versa, many of the clerics would be warriors themselves, this system was known as Islam, a religion centered around five pillars and spread by a new type of war, known as the jihad. The Prophet of Islam eventually died and his successors began to fight among each-other, in the area now known as Persia clerics known as Ayatollahs would begin to rise and eventually in Saudi Arabia a new puritan movement of devoted warrior clerics would emerge, a new era was brewing an era of Islamic revolution and warfare, the era of Jihad.

In the land that was once the cradle of civilization, the land of Nimrod and Nebuchadnezzar came the Caliphate that would eventually evolve into numerous successor states and with a little British and Jewish help modern day Iraq. Thus the ancient struggle between warrior and cleric was reborn, in the land of Anbar a fire was brewing one that would change history.

The story of Mustafa Hassan

Our story begins with a lone bastard child, whose father was a legendary soldier of fortune, his mother a disgraced prostitute.

The history of Jaysh Al-Islam is a simple one, it originated by a young Iraqi collage student a bastard child of a foreign terrorist mercenary and unknown Iraqi woman, this student would come to America for his education. The collage student was Mustafa Hassan the future terrorist and mercenary's radicalization process began studying at collage and influenced by leftist thought, while studying at the university he would encounter Marxism and Marxist professors, he read the writings of numerous Socialist, Anti-American and Anti-Zionist writers who considered the problems in the Third World to come from American imperialism, capitalism and Zionism, Mustafa would study these words and with encouragement from the Professors gradually become a Marxist.

Mustafa started off as a Marxist but the bland atheism, hedonism, and lack of real identity made him feel a life without purpose, he remembered the religion of his youth, and began to return to the Koran and Sunnah, he would begin to read the works of Sayyid Qutb, Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani as well as many of the great Islamic scholars from various Madhhabs, he would begin to become convinced that Islam needed to return to it's former glory and the great Islamic conquests must be resurrected. He would join the ROTC program getting officer training and eventually the national guard, he would join the US Army before switching over to the Navy where he would rise through the ranks and apply to the Seal teams doing various operations in the South China Sea War, where he would be blowing up Chinese missile sites, his training as a Navy Seal would have profound effects on him.

Satisfied with his skills, the CIA and a wealthy Saudi Prince would ask Mustafa to begin training East Turkestani fighters against the Chinese Government, Mustafa accepted and began training hordes of Islamist fighters to wage a guerilla war against the Chinese government, he would receive almost positive news coverage in the West, and would find a substantial fortune coming from Liberal NGOs who supported him as a great warrior for "human rights" and "democracy". After retiring from his work in East Turkestan he would still have the spark of war in him, since he wanted to truly be able to wage Jihad an Islamic Revolution that would bring a world Islamic state, the Caliphate.

Fueled by Islamic ideology and trained with combat experience, he would form a PMC known as Saladin Al-Bittar, he traveled across Central Asia looking for the best Islamic fighters to join his PMC and he would form a consortium of elite, well-paid Muslim fighters from across the former Soviet Union, he would train jihadis from all over the Levant to overthrow secular dictatorships, and would often be supported by the local Gulf Monarchs and their wealthy pay masters. His PMC grew so large that he would participate in the Fourth Intifada in Gaza against the Israeli Government, that would be put down by the Israeli air-force, but Mustafa managed to get away, the Israelis called him "Sea Serpent", Mustafa was called this because he manged to escape in a Narco-Sub which he had earlier managed to enter Gaza from Libya with and also because the Israeli viewed him like the Serpent, a man of great deceit who managed to radicalize many Palestinians as soon as he arrived, he was almost cult like and messianic to those who followed him.

With the growing number of military resources at his disposal, a numerous jihadist army all over Libya, the Sinai, the Levant, Iraq and Gaza he would form a new force devoted to overthrowing the Government of Iraq, this force was Jaysh Al-Islam he would team up with a wealthy and powerful Anbar sheikh Ahmed Suliman and militant leader Ahmed Al-Tayfour (the leader of the Al-Ittihad Al-Islamiya's Iraqi branch) the PMC Saladin al-Bittar merged with the Iraqi insurgent group and became Jaysh Al-Islam.

They formed a self-declared state in the Anbar province creating the Anbar Emirate, with many former Iraqi Ba'athist officers and experts at his side, a massive proliferation of chemical weapons and what seemed to be an almost endless supply of cash and small arms coming from shady backers, one could only ask who created this dangerous new terrorist group?

It was a day, a large thunder and lightning storm was occurring, the kind of days Mustafa loved they reminded him of the battlefield and of the jihad, the guns of Allah slaying the Kuffar and the Rafidah. outside around his encampment a captured base that was once used by the U.S. Occupation forces and the Rafidah Government. It was now the primary base of operations of Jaysh Al-Islam and their air-arm Force 19 which managed to operate a small group of air-craft.

Mustafa walked into the office sitting down inside was Sheikh Ahmed Suliman a man of great wealth, who used the base to command the new army of Mujahideen, Sheikh Ahmed said "ah Mustafa my Akhi, you come here to discuss our new offensive strategy into Lonograd."

Mustafa responded joyfully "Yes, from what I have seen they are on constant guard at the border, all we need to do is begin a campaign of shelling that will distract them from our righteous lions sneaking across their border, we will attack communications lines and any form of electrical power to weaken them, then have our men come back to Iraq and wait as the Lonogradians intervene, using anti-tank tactics similar to those of Hezbollah we will manage to exhaust their armored divisions, causing disruption in their own country making it ripe for Islamic revolution Insha'Allah, by the way Sheikh, we found the house of Bashar Majnoon, I will avenge your daughter sheikh."

Sheikh Ahmed's daughter had been raped and murdered by Shiites led by local Pro-American warlord Bashar Majnoon, the endless cycle of vengeance was a daily thing in Iraq, often times a member of someones family would be killed by a certain faction and then the other faction would respond by killing members of the other factions family, the cycle of vengeance remnants of the ancient system of tribal warfare.

Bashar Majnoon was sitting down with four of his bodyguards, this man was one of the most powerful shiite warlords in the country, however this was about to come to an end, busting down the door a group of 14 Salafis were in his house, they surrounded Majnoon and his bodyguards, they gathered them outside and gunned them down leaving their bodies for the vultures.

After Bashar Majnoon was executed, Jaysh al Islam militants began to take out their anger on numerous non-Sunni minorities from Christians, to Yazidis, however they spent most of their time mainly targeting Shiites all over the area, Shiites were being killed, tortured and raped all over, government positions were being shelled and the militants even used chemical weapons such as sarin gas on areas where large portions of Shiites lived, the goal was to agitate the mainly Shiite Government to attack them, so it would start a religious civil-war.

Various zaibatsu not really happy from his policy, international bankers, domestic leftists, or simply power hungry individuals prowled twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, eager to get just a small bite at the - seemingly invincible so far - Nifonese statesman. Yet, being former officer of the military intelligence, Kojiro played them out with ease, perfectly knowing his enemies and their weaknesses. Those, whom he trusted, he greatly rewarded. It was not easy to win his trust, but people who done so were members of informal 17KAI, which roughly translated as society of seventeen closest Kojiro's underlings, ones that would have eagerly given lives for him should such need come. Recruited mostly from the virtuous military officials, grassroots statesmen and financiers who came to great wealth thanks to the Nifonese shogun, after he removed the international elite from Nifonese market, this group was his own counter to various less than pleasurable lobbying groups that always tried to get a chance at subverting the great ruler. "I have an idea" the reply came from Shogun Kojiro "Al Hiwari - san suggested it to me a while ago, during our private conversation. How about arming and supporting Kurdish insurgency in Iran? That way we could damage our other fore, and once an independent Kurdistan is carved out of Iranian territory, movement of Kurds into that area will begin, satisfying our Turkish allies and solving their problem once and for all...."

"Outstanding idea Kojiro-sama!" smiled General Ikeda Saburo "Once the Northern Iraq is firmly under control of our allies, we can make preparations for creating chaos in Lonograd. Our hybrid warfare will set up stage for an insurgency extremely quickly should we gain it..."

"Tokugawa - san" Kojiro addressed a woman sitting opposite to him, a woman which no matter of her 40 years of age never lost her natural beauty "You will call Riysans, Turks and Bashriyyans. See what they think of this issue. Now, I need someone to deliver me a proper plan of a hybrid intervention...."

"I will do!" a voice came from the end of the table. It came from a tall, muscular man mixing caucasian and mongoloid features, with short, darker hair and extended cheekbones. This was Jack Kurosawa, Nifonese - Aravean mercenary and CEO of Bushido Solutions LTD, one of grandest PMCs in Nifon.

"Tell us your offer then, Kurosawa - san." smiled the Shogun Kojiro as the discussion went on. Dark clouds were gathering on Lonograd.... And it was not sure weather Aladeen could stop them.

General Khalid Tlass was certainly not a man to like delays.

Mosul, once grand and powerful city that stood up to the crusaders, resembled a heap of ruble mixed with destroyed ruins and people living in state of poverty, destroyed by over ten years of long warfare, with bullets constantly flying over their heads, bombs exploding in the streets, killing children that only wished to have a nice childhood and enjoy their play. Tlass, himself former colonel in Ba`athist military, defected to the anti - American resistance, but struck deal with US forces in 2008 and lived a calm, civilian life from that time on - until a militia slaughtered all his sons and kidnapped his wife to make her a sex slave. Tlass, in anger and in fury, left to the North, where he established a militia of his own; quickly exploiting the situation resulting from withdrawal of the American forces to establish himself as warlord in areas of Nineveh and Dhouk provinces. While his militia was mostly sunni - dominated, General Khaild announced policy of religious tolerance for every monotheistic faith, as well as letting local kurds retain autonomy in multiple areas. His militiamen were forbidden to loot and rape and ordered to respect local civilians; which given him enough support to build foundations upon, judging that even Kurdish population in this region preferred his rule rather than Marxist insurgents doing everything to destroy their identity through series of well coordinated acts of terror against anyone who disagreed with them.

Gen. Tlass slowly moved his cigar as he remembered the war - like the hellfire, Dantean scenes of explosions moved forward in front of his eyes. If the circumstances were different, he would have bet that this was some old war movie, that he will next wake up.. but then the very memory of injury he suffered above his left eye, which now remained as an enormous scar giving him a bandit like look remained. For that reason he chosen "Ali Baba" as his codename, and under that name the "Jackal of the Desert" was well feared during the guerilla battles in Iraq.

Moving his cigar away from his mouth, he looked at his contact with Bushido Solutions Ltd - a middle aged Asian gentleman in tight, black t-shirt, military trousers in desert tiger stripe camouflage, short, raven black hair, square face and small mouth coupled with pair of little green eyes looking around. Next to him was an enormous sword, likely some kind of family reminder.

"Khalid - Sama" smiled the gentleman, looking directly into the eyes of Iraqi general and putting his hands into a pyramid "I am most concerned that this alliance will be beneficial for us. Your brothers in ideology, the Riysans, are our long time friends and partners in global issues. Thus, you can gain a lot from Nifonese backing."

"I must be sure about your good intentions first to finalize this one." the Iraqi general acted mostly out of compassion for his countrymen and had no intention for a new occupier, be it Asian or Western, to enter in "What do you want in return."

The answer shocked him:

"Stability." the Nifonese man grinned his moth "Kojiro-sama realized the threat our enemies pose to our stability. If we are to dig Iraqi oil, we will do so as partners, not as masters. Because there is something that we have and gaijin do not - and the answer is honor!. "

The Iraqi general slowly dropped his head and thought, only to finally utter a simple sentence:

"I believe we have a deal..."

General Mohammed Bahir was walking down the long hallways of the Palace, it was originally built by the French when the Sykes-Picot agreement granted them ownership of the nation after the defeat of the Ottoman empire in world war one. Part of the Palace had to be rebuild when the Ba'athist coup overthrow the center-right government which was put in place by the French during their withdrawal in 1946 and severed as a puppet government which still allowed western Oil companies stay while the people lived in abstract poverty. In his hand was a document which had the details of the border attack that happened yesterday and ended with seventy soldiers killed, two T-55 tanks, one T-72 tank, and four BTR-80 Armoured Personal Carriers destroyed. Bahir was a loyal Ba'ath party member and commander of the Air force, he was one of the main players when Hafez Aladeen took over in a military coup d'état called the "Corrective Revolution", which overthrew the right-wing branch of the Ba'ath party which also took power in a coup one year before. Bahir was one of Hafez Aladeen's most trusted generals and was one of his close friends, he advised Hafez on many crucial issues, such as more Pro-Soviet, and arming Iran during the Iran-Iraq war, for this he was labelled a "traitor to the Arab and Ba'ath movement". When Hafez died in 2000, he was shocked that Bashir Aladeen was going to be his successor, he saw Bashir as incompetent, weak, and too heavily influenced by his wife, of course he wouldn't say anything, it took him twenty years to get where he was now and was not going to loose it all over a disagreement with the new management.

Bahir had reached the Presidential office, he took a long sigh before knocking on the door. He walked in and saw Bashir Aladeen with his wife Asma playing with their two children, this of course disgusted him, Bahir thought that a strong leader must be one hundred percent committed to their job as president and should not be distracted by the family life. After waiting several minutes, he got annoyed and said, "excuse me your excellency, I have an important document that you might want to see." General Bahir also sat down as well before Bashir Aladeen started to speak, "So, why did you all ask me to come down here?", the members of the government started to give each other nervous looks, they knew that Bashir had a short temper like his father and would get angry very quickly if the military had suffered looses that could easily be avoided, head of the Army which it's official name had changed to the Lonogradian Arab Army from the Lonogradian People's Arab Army to seem less communist stood up, "Your excellency, we have a report of that one of our Border outposts was attacked by who we confirm to be is Jaysh Al Islam, there are more details in the document that General Mohammed Bahir has". He then sat back down into his seat as Bahir throws the document onto the table, Bashir picks the document up and started to read it, his face started to go bright red with anger, he put down the document and shouted, "what the fuck did I just read!?, seventy dead!? three tanks and four BTRs destroyed! The war has changed. And so did the society.

Without any oversight, thanks to release of the interned by the CIA, an entire new kind of jungle unknown to the analysts before appeared, only increasing the era of mass communication chaos. Analysts looked at the results and pondered, for the outcome was stranger than any science fiction movie they watched in the days before. First came the mass media such as radio or television, allowing to directly rely information to the public, and thus, the totalitarian governments to spread their poison on scale unseen before. Then came the internet, which allowed virtually everyone - including madmen, self proclaimed prophets, or radical fringe groups - to have their voice heard with equal power that television had until now. SetsuMedia, Setsuzoku social network, and other platforms only strengthened them and amplified their message, until the point where militants used SetsuMedia to show the world their propaganda messages, posting threats against their enemies and winning support of the people. "Cyberjungle" grew and grew, until it remade the very world we live in. When the cold war ended... a new global order awakened.

The Knights of Islam

As the flames of war raged in Iraq and neighboring nations several resistance groups formed, all sympathetic to a common cause, Islam. The leader of the group was the group's biggest secret not so much as a Kunya was known many refereed to him as 'The Shadow Sheikh', even the group's own publications called him as such. Little does anyone know however the group's true intentions and goals will be made clear in the very near future.

The hot sun pierced trough the city, people were going around in their daily lives, buying and selling in the bazaars. Of course the city was guarded by both Shiite Islamist groups like the Badr Organization and the Mahdi Army, but also a branch of the ALF known as the Arab Liberation Front - Iraq Branch which had set up Basra as their main HQ. They had opposing views with the Shia Islamists as they wanted an Islamic Republic like Iran while the Arab Liberation Front wanted a Ba'athist state which would later be annexed by Lonograd and would be seen as the first step in achieving a United Arab Republic based on Nasser's ideals. The Iraqi civil war forced the two factions to make a temporary alliance as they both fought against American forces, Saddam Loyalists and radical Sunni groups like Jaysh Al Islam and the Knights of Islam, both the ALF and the Shiite groups considered these groups to be puppets of America and Israel, they were created to destabilise the middle east and were a excuse to invade Arab lands and steal their precious oil, this was seen as the "war on terror" in the west and was completely justified as war criminals Bush and Blair said that Iraq had "weapons of mass destruction", and that they were there to bring "freedom and democracy" to Iraq. After the Coalition toppled Saddam, they established a brutal occupation of Iraq, hundreds arrested and put in prison camps, beaten and tortured by the guards, dozens killed with many just "disappearing" over night, foreign Oil companies being allowed into the country and stealing the nation's main resources while the people suffered in horrible living conditions, even Iraqis who supported the invasion and celebrated when Saddam fell, were now joining multiple resistance/Insurgent groups all over the country and were all fighting to free their nation from foreign occupation, and restore Iraq to its glory days, Iraq was the birthplace of civilisation and the resistance groups were not going to allow it to be a puppet state of America or a client state like Egypt, Qatar, Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia, a government which would claim to be "democratic" and "elected", however this government would be corrupt to its core and not serve the people but serve nations and organisations like NATO and Israel.

After the American withdrawal from Iraq, the Iraqi people hoped it would also end the violence and bring peace to not only the country but to the region as a whole, this of course didn't happen as multiple Takfiri terrorist groups had now sprung up across the nation, especially in Sunni dominated areas like Anbar who were severally oppressed by the Shiite government and Iranian backed militias. This would be a good recruitment tool for the Islamists as they promised to protect the Sunni Population from what they called a "Shia Kuffar, Iranian puppet regime". The Islamists also attacked Lonogradian border checkpoints, this would anger the government in Riyad which would respond by secretly arming and funding the Arab Liberation Front - Iraq Branch. Another reason why Lonograd was arming the ALF was because of a new Tawfiqist Militia in the North which called its self "Iraqi Awakening Front", a Nifonese backed group which seeks to make Iraq into a SACTO puppet state and finally encircle Lonograd with nothing but aggressive and Hostile neighbours and cut it off with the rest of the world. The Arab Liberation Front - Iraq Branch was not going to let that happen, already they had received dozens of weapons from the Lonogradian border and were going to receive more, they had also set up a secret meeting in Karbala to discuss what their strategy would be on how to combat SACTO and prevent Iraq from falling under their control.

A total of five Islamist flown Sukhoi Su-17 fighter bombers were flying to Mosul, with the goal of bombing the city, advancing below in the desert were thousands of technicals, the long line could be seen, it comprised about 90,000 jihadists traveling through the plains surrounding Mosul, it was a massive force, the dust could be seen for miles. The force consisted of 6 M113 armored personnel carriers, 4 T-72 tanks, 5 T-55 tanks, 4 M1 Abrams along with numerous jihadists armed with AKM assault rifles and RPG-7s, this force was assigned with one duty to crush the Iraqi Awakening Force. With the unity of The Knights of Islam and Jaysh Al-Islam this lead to many opportunities including the shared interest of an Islamic State. In Anbar with the group having hundreds of soldiers along with men from Jaysh preparing to assault Mosul. The vehicles which transported the fighters from Fallujah where now off to Mosul. The fighters had little equipment except what the captured from Iraqi police and the army many of them wore hoodies with masks, tactical vests and military pants. Most of the fighters carried AKs or M4s their technicals had old Russian anti-aircraft guns with Saddam era-Iraqi flags or Black flags flying from the vehicles. As men were gathered around preparing for this massive attack the Shadow Sheikh came out to them wearing a black Turban and black clothing he said Who wants to be a Martyr? He walked towards a BMP and pulled out an military helmet filled with paper Form a line a pick one. he ordered. The suicide bombers drove their vehicles into several targeted positions, the clouds from the explosions were seen for miles and shook the Earth. Soon to be followed were technicals and armed men joining the rest of Jaysh Al-Islam. They got into their positions the fighters from the Knights of Islam were used to urban warfare fighting in Fallujah and Baghdad. Many of the commanders were Republican Guard commanders who fought during the Gulf wars, Iran-Iraq war and of course the 2003 invasion of Iraq they learned from their mistakes and had an army of highly motivated men ready to die for the cause and even welcomed death this was easy for them. One Republican Guard commander who went by "Assad" spoke to another former Baathist commander This will be easy, these amateurs don't know what they are doing and the Sunni Arabs will rule Iraq once again. the other laughed No they don't, we have intelligence and contacts in the city, All praise is due to Allah, Saddam would be giving us medals right now we don't even have to play secularist anymore. Assad smiled and said We have to be brutal this time if we want to survive, those retards from Lonograd want to unite Arabs with some sort of Marxist wet dream but by Allah we will unite the world here in Iraq with Islam. The Baathist officer picked up a cell-phone and opened an encrypted messaging app and sent out a mass text to multiple people in Mosul telling them in the message "Now, attack! The armies of the Prophet are there grab your guns and prepare for a new history of the Muslim people!" After this message several sleeper cells began attacking the city from with in, going out with knives and pistols killing anyone seen as an enemy others began throwing homemade grenades and bombs at enemy targets. OOC: The military intelligence organization, I am aware that you are new, so I will not really make an issue for you as your actions with infiltration attacks fit tactical doctrine of insurgent groups and from military PoV, fully make sense. At the same time, teleporting your forces and assuming that they just gotten in, especially without giving ORBAT, is not really something I would consider "good roleplaying". But I will accept it this time because I know that you do not have much experience.

And so the hot, arid wind of the desert was going to crash against a city in the Nineveh province. Mosul, an ancient city and once home to mighty Islamic warlords, besieged countless times by different foes, was today again going to become a stumbling block for another horde, not less hellish than the mongols who came there before and besieged it with it's mighty machines of war. Today, countless hordes of technical trucks crewed by bearded men dressed in black as a symbol of their hate and love for death, destruction and everything unholy were yet again approaching the ancient urban community once housing one of most prestige universities in the middle east.

They were not going to enter.

Against them stood an army like none they faced before - an army of the Arab nation, firmly accepting Arabs of all religions and creeds, wishing for nothing else than Greater Syria united by common culture and language. That, of course, put them constantly at odds with various "theocratic" groups like Council for JIhad and Revolution - although never on scale it did with Jaysh al - Islam. Yet at the same time, the mighty warriors of Khalid Tlass and Salah ad - Din ibn Yassir were experienced fighters, who first fought against Americans and later with them when the Shiite militias in the south begun causing trouble. After all, end goal of both of those men was not a theocratic state, but a peaceful Iraq where every faith and creed could prosper, rather than just senseless slaughter repeating itself again and again. "DAWN RISES, DAWN RISES, DAWN RISES!" sounded on every radio channel signifying that battle of Nineveh plain was about to begin. A great clash that will come down into annals of history signifying the end of the Army of Islam and beginning of a major reconquista by the Awakening Front, hoping that out of burning fires and ashes of the old system created by the former colonialist world order will arise the Greater Syria, untainted by the poison of Sykes - Picot agreement and Moscow's ideological colonialism launched under the very name of what they were claiming to be liberating their own people from.

Nevertheless, the very moment when the battle begun has arrived, and it was about to be opened by the Nifonese Artillery Battalion, fielding most modern Type 12 Shotokan MRLS, far outclassing BM-21 in range, accuracy and amount of munitions compatible with it. After the two fire missions whole battery would begin packing up to move to a different location in order to avoid counter - fire, before returning fire again. With maximum range of such a missile of 70 kilometers, it meant that several hails of iron hail will fall on the terrorist's heads before they will be capable of engaging into any direct engagement. Once the terrorists will find themselves in range, within TAORs of their respective brigades BM-21 were going to join the fight while G-6 Rhino of the Iraqi forces would be ordered to target emissions identified by ELINT, crippling C4RISTA structure of the Islamist force.

At the same time, a new weapon of the Nifonese was about to be employed on the battlefield for the first time. Ku-17, inspired by German TARES, was a unmanned combat aerial vehicle, roughly 2 meters in length; carrying both ka - band millimeter wave radar, optronic unit and 20kg warhead. With 16 such systems employed and each of the capable of controlling 16 UCAVs, a major hail of precision fire was going to be used to, upon identification, strike MANPADS and artillery, as well as HVTs such as terrorist leadership.

But the real problem for the JAI forces appeared that when two Iraqi militia battalions, driving their pickups, passed through the ever widening gap in the enemy lines, begun executing it's own turning manouevere. Unlike US equivalent, goal of which was merely to force the enemy to advance in unwanted direction, this one was inspired by the Nifonese methodology and having sole goal; establishing position for encirclement. And so, the JAI would find itself between a hammer and the anvil Nifonese loved so much.

Every unit advanced with air support of Ki-78, a mighty Nifonese counter on A10, and brigade level helicopters the Nifonese brought with themselves. Ki - 78, being literally a flying tank that was both capable of CAS and acting as a forward air controller (FAC) would be tasked with knocking down the enemy armor and providing close air support, ripping the terrorists to shreds by it's mighty 30mm gattling gun - HEDP munitions fired from it cleaving through pickups and men like a knife through the butter, ATGMs raining at the poor - state JAI armor reducing it to zero.

Salah ad Din ibn Yassir worried not, while listening to the reports from the field of battle, on the contrary, quite enjoying them himself. Major Ito Sanzaemon, also being pilot 2nd rank was not happy, or at least not now. He was forced to be pulled away from his bride in their house on cold shores of Wajima, the most northern island of Nifon, and made instead fly senseless Combat Air Patrol (CAP) missions as of enforcing the Nifonese no - fly zone in Northern Iraq. The probem for Sanzaemon was that it had little sense for him to fly here where - at least at that given moment - there was no action, and most flights ended in just routine hours in the air before returning to base, where they at least could spend time with their fellow pilots. Although only to a degree - Sanzeamon was not interested in women of loose customs on one hand or organized religion on another. He was searching the truth with all his heart, having previously left Buddhism after finding many inconsistencies in this system of believes.

After a quick turn, the entire key of four aircraft headed straight against the incoming terrorist Sukhois. Whatever they were, they had no right to be here, and were about to be shot down for violation of the no - fly zone. 50 kilometers away from their target, a voice came on the comms:

Initial wave of suicide bombings targeted mostly civilian administration buildings and infrastructure, sufficient enough to put the local population in the state of perpetual fear (mostly due to the fact that areas serving as bases for AF were simply too well protected). The sleeper cells would, however, not pose a larger problem, for as they were about to learn, using pistol and knives was good against civilians, but not against militants utilizing far heavier weaponry, especially having advantage in firepower resulting from bigger rounds.

As a result, the task of dealing with the sleeper cells was given to the Hunter Killer battalion of the brigade stationing in Mosul - each of the battalion's elements quickly converging upon the areas where the attacks took place and cutting it off, in order to eliminate the terrorist presence.

Losses:
- 18 soldiers from Hunter Killer battalion wounded / killed.
- 301 civilians dead or wounded as a result of the bombings.

Nineveh plains

The attack was botched, thousands of troops were dying and the air-support did not even stand a chance, smoke could be seen and the smell of flames in the air, and the smell of blood. Most resistance to the Nifonese and IAF forces would come from men armed with RPG-7s and small arms, while others were retreating in a chaotic mass of technicals and men running on foot only to be gunned down by enimies surrounding from the back, standing in the midst of the chaos was Mohammed Omar Abdullah commander of the operation, he was short obese man, dark tan skin and curly black hair, with a prominent Semitic nose, his accent was American however, using a satellite phone he tried desperately to get in contact with his handlers abroad but it was not working.

OOC: Because I can not sleep, a short post to conclude the Battle of Nineveh Plains.

Endless waste filled with smoking wrecks of what once used to be one of greatest hordes the terrorists assembled in this war steamed as far as the eye could go, illuminating the darkening sky with grim light of multiple fires. Blood moon begun to appear simply due to sole amount of explosions, like a sign of a coming apocalypse, dangerously hanging up on the sky. The great army rose against Nineveh, marching in it's pride thinking of nothing else than rape, murder and conquest was no more. It's countless soldiers now enjoyed desert as their grave, with soft tomb of sand being their final resting place, among burning husks of the tanks and twisted, molten metal, resting eternally as a reminder of a great battle.

Within 12 hours of combat operations 30 000 terrorists met their doom, although after the initial assault everything else was just sweeping remnants. They tried escape, but their route was cut, and merciless pounding of the Nifonese artillery and air force paved way for the incoming conventional assault. Contrary to their opponents, Awakening Front lost only 82 men and few technical trucks hit by RPGs, which had little effect on heavier Type 52s Nifonese drove in. And when the rats of the desert stood no chance and soon begun their chaotic retreat across the plains, two battalions came and cut off their retreat, leading to uttermost slaughter of the demoralized enemy.

The battle would pass down to the legends of the local population and kill any morale that JAI could have had before. Unluckily Chechen force could not be destroyed, but that would not be of a concern now.

And when the sun was about to fall behind the horizon for good, Gen. Salah ad - Din ibn Yassir stoop up on the top of a burning jihadi tank, and rose his mighty saber - holding hand into the air. Picture was instantly taken and posted on multiple social media account, with #OneDoesNotSimplyWalkIntoMosul hashtag being attached in order to generate support.

The balance of power in Iraq was about to come to end. But so far... it was time to rest before taking Anbar.

Amakusa Motonabe has been born in a poor district of Kiyosu, subsequently going through his primary school and becoming first soldier in Imperial Nifonese Army, then officer in a local tank company. As Ahmed Naifeh was traveling to Mustafa Hassan's headquarters in his van to Fallujah to deliver a letter alongside a huge box of gold, the Jaysh Al-Islam leader Mustafa Al-Hassan had been informed of his arrival. As Ahmed drove to Fallujah his van was stopped by masked armed militants, and he would be taken inside a building, he was hooded so he could not see anything and his hands were zip-tied behind his back, he was taken to Mustafa Hassan's office.

Mustafa Hassan walked in "We know you are a Nifonese spy, we were informed you were coming."

Mustafa Hassan quickly opened the letter in a frenzy, he was a micromanaging busy body and control freak, he smiled with an evil grin, and looked at the letter he said "It's encrypted what the hell does it say?", Hassan's men grabbed Ahmed and took him to the interrogation room, the hood was taken off a bright light in a dark room was present.

Mustafa Hassan walked in and spoke "Your a young man they say you and your sister were poor?" he said "Brother why are you working for the Nifonese, do you know the price of spying, collaboration with the kuffar and treason?"

The assault by the Bashriyyan-backed terrorist really was a foolish mistake. The weather was harsh, but the guards with their night-vision goggles spotted the trucks long before they were in range of the base. After a brief correspondence with base command, 4 M1A1 Abrahms tanks drove out of their garages and headed towards the hostile truck. Once the tanks emerged, the Bashriyyans had struck two guard towers, four parked jeeps, and a barracks (at the time only holding a few custodians). The base immediately rallied all men to battle stations. Soldiers rushed throughout the base, manning artillery batteries, machine guns in the underground bunkers in the mountainous border. The tanks however, led the response. The Bashriyyan jeep had just turned around when the tanks came in range. The tanks fired a salvo, each shell getting a direct hit and blowing the jeep to smithereens. The tanks had crossed the border, but only for 20 minutes, quickly returning to Hatayan territory. The base remained in battle stations for 24 hours. The black flag was taken down after just a few minutes of it standing.

The leader of Al Ittihad Al Islamiya in Iraq Mohammed Al-Tayfour(aka Abu Bittar) stated "We do not want them to be our enemy, but they are too unprincipled to be apart of, our organization " this has not come as a surprise rumors of corruption have been with Jaysh Al-Islam for a while, however they have risen since the failure at Mosul.

Jaysh Al-Islam has had problems with fighters leaving to join either Al-Ittihad Al-Islamiya or the Military Council for Jihad and Revolution, the group's figurehead Mustafa Hassan had this to say "We will continue to resist the Iraqi Government, Insha'Allah we will win, we do not need our brothers to be apart of our group, we are not as over-zealous as ISIS was before they fell, and we will successfully establish an Islamic state properly, our brothers in the Knights of Islam remain loyal to us and things are going quite well, yes quite well."

This has come as a shock to many, meaning that Jaysh Al-Islam is beginning to lose backing from other jihadist groups, yet only time will tell what the fate of Jaysh al-Islam will be.

Our first story comes from Iraq where earlier today Jaysh Al-Islam launched an offensive on Mosul in an attempt to maintain influence and security in their held Anbar province. Mosul lies in control of the Nifon backed Iraqi Awakening Front, a group that seeks the liberation of the entire Greater Syria Area and the establishment of a free, independent Syrian Arab state governed by a policy of federalism to reflect and respect diversity in the region. Although Jaysh Al-Islam's goal was Mosul, they denied entry by the IAF and Nifonese on the plains of Nineveh. Our middle east correspondent, Bin Jong-Kwan is in Tel al-Riyah, Riysa with more. Jong-Kwan?

JongKwan: With the Anbar Province clearly being under the control of Jaysh Al-Islam, the terrorist organization made a move on Mosul in an attempt to show strength, expose IAF as well as Nifonese weakness, and capture Sunni-dominated areas to increase their potential recruitment and support pool. On the other hand, the confrontation was an opportunity for the Iraqi Awakening Front and their Nifonese allies to show off their capabilities. If attempting to strike fear into Jaysh Al-Islam and other opposition factions were the goals, then the IAF were successful.

Operation Baked Clay as it's being called lasted for approximately 12 hours and was a complete and utter rout for Jaysh Al-Islam. According to sources, due to either logistical issues or plain incompetence by Jaysh Al-Islam, a noticeable gap exploited by the Iraqi Awakening Front and Nifonese forces helped to entrap Jaysh Al-Islam. Furthermore, air support meant to aid the terrorist have reportedly failed to arrive. As a result, the terrorists were decimated in the face of the superior IAF/Nifonese forces. According to an Iraqi Awakening Front spokesperson, Jaysh Al-Islam suffered approximately 30,000 casualties as opposed to 80 local IAF soldiers killed or wounded and 2 Nifonese wounded. While many of Jaysh Al-Islam's casualties occurred towards the beginning of the battle, a good amount came as a result of the chaotic fleeing of the terrorist group which was intercepted. As one might expect the morale of JAI has been shattered and the possibility of another massive attack let alone recovery, is very unlikely.

On the other hand, the morale of the IAF and Nifonese are through the roof. From merely a defensive position, the side had managed to destroy the attacking force and the hashtag #OneDoesNotSimplyWalkIntoMosul is already trending. With this difference in success and in morale, it is likely that a JAI support base in the Sunni north is nothing else but a dream. The High Command compound was guard all around by troops and armored vehicles, once inside, numerous checkpoints were passed till the central room was reached. At least 75 people, answering phones, using computers, pointing at maps, discussing important matters were in the room. Two Hatayan flags flanked a massive map of the Middle East, with numerous symbols, alterable by computer, on one wall, a big portrait of Ali Golofad hung. A Squadron of of B-52 Lancer bombers had just been dispatched to Anbar to destroy a terrorist complex. The map disappeared to show a live feed, all eyes turned to it and excepting the constant phone ringings and beeping, there was silence. They saw the planes soar high in the sky, just beyond the range of jihadist anti-air equipment. The radio voice of the leader of squadron cracked over the radio.
"We're 13 Kilometers from target and closing, over."
The people in the room chattered for a second and one man with a phone wearing a Corporal's army uniform turned to the Air Marshal Nafar, in blue uniform.
"Should you fire at will?" Nafar nodded and spoke.

A Platoon of 40 men rushed to positions from a thin opening in the mountain they set up a 50 cal. Browning machine gun. They also lowered AK-74s onto the rocks to open fire. The trucks came closer to the mountain, they stopped and got out. Position their missile system. They began to inch it forward. The Browings at that post and many others opened fire. The jihadists returned fire. The shooting went on for a few minutes, before a violent noise came from the enemy. At least 12 rockets soared into the air and struck the mountains, they shook and rubble fell, inside, bits of rocks fell. From the mountains one rocket slammed into the M-63, destroying it. The firefight continued until most of the jihadists were dead. The border defenses proved themselves.

Dead bodies were all over the ground, the jihadist flag began to burn, and fuel from the vehicles was exploding, crawling away was one Jihadist who lost both of his legs and his right eye, he was moving himself by grasping the earth with his hands, the Hatayans had been fooled, not all the Jihadists were dead one managed to survive that day. His name was Abdullah Ibn Baraq Al-Maliki and he would eventually be picked up by Bashriyyan authorities, in reality he was coming from a raid of secret AIAI men who had been told by Bashriyyan intelligence to attack the Hatayan border a 2nd time, in reality they were being scapegoated and they would get no credit, the credit was being false flagged on another Jihadist group the Jaysh al-Islam, the attacks put the AIAI leadership at an untrustworthy stance toward Bashriyyan intelligence who more often then not used their men as cannon fodder on the Hatayan border without approval , all so Nashid could trick the Hatayans into intervening in Iraq.

OOC: I will wait for AIAI to rp his leaders anger over Nashid's decision, I imagine they would visit Nashid in his office to express displeasure.

Upon receiving command and the F-16s now getting close to the B1 squadron right on their tail, there is only one message given:
