The Panther entered production in 1943, seeing field action that same year in the Soviet Union. Had it not been for the reallocation of resources to bigger and more expensive tanks like the Tiger, King Tiger, and Maus, the Panther would have performed even better. As it was, the Panther outperformed EVERY Allied medium tank it fought against. T-34s, Shermans, Fireflies. None of then could match the versatility, armor protection, or firepower of the Panther.

Not enough Panthers. Easy. A little more than 5,000 Panthers were built before the war ended while the Russians built tens of thousands of T-34s and the Americans built just as many Shermans. Numbers beat the Panther, not technology.
