Ever since the Unification of the nation of Armetesia, the country has been ruled by the reigning dynasty of Helvetia-Hirsch with a relatively peaceful transition of power between new monarchs. Yet after the mysterious disappearance of the King of Hirschdorf & Archduke of Aremetsia, Europus von Helvetia-Hirsch II, Armetesian politics has been thrown into disarray. A young bachelor & only child, Europus II has no heir appoint to take his place as the leader of the semi-absolutionist confederacy. Multiple factions have emerged between the political lines to take charge of the country, hoping to prop up aristocrats who will carry out there agenda.

Factions:

The Argovist League
Former Affiliation: Liberal Federal Party
Leader: PM Lady Aria Holstenpony
Goal: The Argovists hope for the possible return of Europus II to the throne of Armetesia. They seek to maintain the status quo, having Prime Minister Holstenpony be the interim Head of State, and possibly the future Archduchess if they officially declare Europus dead. They command the Imperial Guard of Armetesia, a large & well equipped army.

The Cavallian Dynasties
Former Affiliation: Absolutionist Party, Cavallian Separatists
Leader: King Baudio XI du Chevalie
Goal: The Cavallian Dynasties are supported mostly by the ethnically Cavallian groups of Southern Armetesia who make up a decent majority of the population. The group paints itself as the populist movement, representing the end of Armetesia's oppression under the minority population of the ruling class who solely reside in Hirschdorf. In reality the faction, lead by the powerful King of Chevalie (Armetesia's largest region), seek to take absolute power over the country, crowning Baudio XI emperor & leading a more hardline authoritarian regime. They command multiple small but well trained state militias & have larger popular support than any other faction.

Leader: Mantien von Chittennsburg
Goal: Remove Kebab & install National Socialism. Highly militant rebel force who competitively racks up war crimes for sport.

The Free Militia
Former Affiliation: The Republican Party
Leader: Adrian Polosi
Goal: Group of anti-monarchists seeking for a free, democratic federal republic. Unpopular due to being seen by the public as unpatriotic socialists. Has the weakest start, with only a small militia with wavering morale.

The government of ghe Derpy Technocratic Democracy of Valgora has expressed that it is willing to support the Free Militia due to it's ideal on democracy.

(OOC: Can the Free Militia be called something similar to the IRA, with a possible horse pun? I just feel like it kinda fits.)

Gallombardi, Armetesia: With new found international support, the Militia decides do make a bold move at attacking the Cavallian stronghold within the center of the city, yet outnumbered & outgunned, they find themselves bogged down as the Cavallian military begins torching any neighborhood controlled by dissidents.

(OOC: I'm going to go ahead and say I'm sorry for my military factbooks being shit. I haven't really taken the time to make them.)

The DTDV begins to mobilize it's military by rounding up 1 million National Guardsmen and sending them to military bases to prepare.

An additional 50,000 Valgoran soldiers are sent ahead to the CAR headquarters, along with various weapons to give to the CAR.
500 of the soldiers are officers; 1,500 are Spetsnaz; 25,000 Conscripts; 6,000 Mages/Wizards; 2,000 field medics/medics; 5,000 Berserkers; 4,500 are Vikings of Steel; 4,000 Heavy Infantry; 1,000 Scouts; 500 Snipers.

The soldiers also have 200 T-14s, 50 T-14-30s, and 100 T-18s.

They also have 50 P-28s and 50 P-103s. As well as some transport helicopters.

There are also 500 engineers and various technicians who are coming to fortify the Armetesian Offshore Islands by setting up anti-air guns, SAM launchers, portable communication arrays, and Multiple - Variable Detection and Ranging (MVDR).

The Office of Propaganda of the DTDV has begun an online propaganda program targeting the Cavallian Dynasties as a group that only wants power and that they don't truly care about the people of Armetesia.

The same goes for the New Armetesian Front calling them fascist and possibly Nazi-like.

The plan of this propaganda program is to decrease the support of both the Cavallian Dynasties and the New Armetesian Front.

Another propaganda program is being executed to raise support for the Coalition of Armetesian Republicans.

The central government of the Imperial Duchy has declared a State of Emergency across the the nation. The Imperial Guard has began scrambling F-22 Raptors for bombing raids against Cavallian & Republican fortifications.

A large occupational force is being sent north to crush NAF militants & secure Armetesia's industrial cities. Three MBT divisions are being flanked by 14 Mobilized Infantry Divisions and 4 four Arial Armor Squadrons, currently en route to Eissenfluss, a city under siege by fascists.

Fortification of Republican controlled Islands has begun.
A few airstrikes hit the islands before the portable SAMs and MVDR was set up, causing the death of 100 Republicans and 30 civilians.

A DTDV cruiser and 2 destroyers have been stationed at the islands.

While fortifications are being constructed, Valgoran soldiers are arming and training the forces of the Coalition of Armetesian Republicans.

17 Argovist fighter jets begin launching ATS missiles at suspected Republic fortifications. While some got direct hits on Valgoran-backed strongholds, the majority were blindly launched at villages & remote airstrips. The hundreds of Armetesian citizens dead in the bombings are a PR disaster for Parliament, and the government is forced to refocus on taking back the port of Gallombardi in Cavallia, then launching a costal invasion to crush the rebels.

The DTDV's Office of Propaganda has begun another program, this time aimed at the Argovist Faction exploiting the fact that Argovist fighters killed hundreds of civilians.
Propaganda featuring Valgoran and Republican soldiers and medics helping the civilians is also being spread.

Drones are deployed to by the Valgoran military to gain intelligence.
Scouts (25) and small groups of Spetsnaz (5 groups of 4 = 20) have been deployed to the mainland for recon missions.

The Valgoran military has decided that sending anti-ship missile launchers will improve the defense of the islands.
The military is also deploying 500 medical personal to the islands to help deal with those wounded by Argovist airstrikes.

(OOC: I hope it doesn't seem rude of me to come in like this. I got an invite from Armestia, so... yeah.

Also, I'm going to support the Argovist league as they seem to have the closest ideals as New Equestria, with a monarch in power and all that. Plus, I think it would be fun for my country to have its own sort of little Vietnam, you know cause we're a larger army supporting a larger army, but perhaps the rebels know how to use the terrain against us with unconventional tactics and such? *nudge nudge wink wink*)

The Holy Empire of New Equestria initiates weapon shipments of guns and munitions to the Argovist League and its Imperial Guard, but officially declares itself neutral in the conflict. Colonial troops in the nearby New Equestrian colony of Coltfield are mobilized and prepared for a movement into Armestia, while the I Corps of 1st (Imperial) Army embarks on troop transports to reinforce the colonial garrison. Little press coverage is allowed of the event and it is kept somewhat secret (though not enough it doesn't go completely unheard). A small sum of $55 million is also secretly wired to the Argovists.

Another 25,000 Valgoran soldiers are sent to the CAR held islands.
Along with more anti-ship missiles and anti-air defenses.
The DTDV military has also sent T-34 "Unicorn" medium tanks, T-68 "Psycho-Wizard" magical heavy tanks, and TL-110 Main Battle Tanks.

A Valgoran aircraft carrier along with 10 destroyers and 10 cruisers have been deployed near the islands.
Stationed on the aircraft carrier includes A-25 VII "Jormundgandr" attack aircraft, F-181 I "Flying Fox" interceptors, and V-18 "Hurricane" multi-role fighters.

The Spetsnaz teams are instructed to begin covert ops against all factions that are not the Republicans. This is to disrupt supply movements.

Public controversy beings in New Equestria over the Argovist civilian bombings due to a successful DTDV Propaganda program. A small number of New Equestrian citizens hold demonstrations outside the capitol to condemn such actions, but the government does not respond. A regiment of Imperial Rangers (1,000) are sent to Armetesia, under the guise of "private mercenaries," to gather intelligence on enemy tactics, actively assist the Argovists in combat, and act as a trial force for a possible full-scale deployment. 1st Army arrives in the Colony of Coltfield and prepares minor fortifications (sandbags, barbed wire, machine gun nests, etc.). Empress Silver Brush publicly denounces the actions of the Armetesian rebels, as well as Valgora for supporting the Coalition of Armetesian Republicans.

WAR IN ARMETESIA

With all the recent developments, it has become clear that there is a war within Armetesia.

The factions include the Argovist League, who is the central government; the Cavallian Dynasties, who are looking to gain more power by filling in the power vacuum left by the disappearance of the King of Hirschdorf and Archduke of Aremetsia, Europus von Helvetia-Hirsch II; the New Armetesian Front, who are an ultranationalist group; and the Coalition of Armetesian Republicans, who want to turn Armetesia into a republic.

Currently, two other countries have joined the war: the Derpy Technocratic Democracy of Valgora supporting the CAR and the Holy Empire of New Equestria supporting the central government.

Valgora has already begun mobilizing soldiers and equipment for the war and has sent them to the Armetesian Offshore Islands which are firmly under CAR control. With the amount of equipment and soldiers sent to these islands, it looks like Valgora is hellbent on keeping these islands out of enemy hands.

New Equestria has sent the 1st Army to the Colony of Coltfield and has prepared minor fortifications. Many New Equestrian mercenaries have been sent to Armetesia; while they are private mercenaries, the fact that they were a regiment of the Imperial Rangers of New Equestria is causing some to question the Empire's role in this war.

New Equestria is also dealing with protests about its involvement in the war. Thanks to a successful DTDV propaganda program about the Argovist's bombing of villages, there have been demonstrations outside the capitol condemning the acts of the Argovist League.

(OOC: I thought it might be a good idea to include a news source for this. There also seems to be a slight difference in the BBcode when moving BBcode from the factbook to the forum, because the top part doesn't look like the factbook for the Hiveington Post.)

The Armetesian Parliament welcomes coalition forces attacking south from New Equestria. Argovist-Valgoran relations are officially declared at DEFCON 2, Armetesian troops are given authorization to shoot Valgoran militants on sight. With coalition flanking to the South, Argovist forces launch a full on invasion to retake Gallombardi with 60 F-25 Raptors, 14 LRSB-3 Bombers, 100 RAH-66 Attack Helicopters, 1,000 Paratroopers, 30 M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tanks and 100 BTR-90's, each carrying 15 troops.

The main objective for the Imperial Duchy is to secure the ports & begin naval blockades on the rest of Cavallia & the islands.

The Valgoran army has sent 100,000 (about a total of 175,000 Valgoran soldiers on the islands when this is included) additional troops to the CAR held Armetesian Offshore Islands.
This includes more munitions to fortify the islands.
Another aircraft carrier was sent; 25 destroyers (5 "normal" destroyers, 10 missile destroyers, 10 railgun destroyers), 10 cruisers (5 "normal", 3 missile cruisers, 2 railgun cruisers), 20 frigates, and 5 battleships (4 "normal" battleships, 1 railgun battleship) were also sent.

Thanks to military intelligence, the Valgoran military has been able to determine where enemy formations in Gallombardi.

Valgora has launched an air attack on the city of Gallombardi.
The attack was done with 15 F-181 I "Flying Fox" interceptors, 25 V-18 "Hurricane" multi-role fighters, and 10 A-25 VII "Jormundgandr" attack aircraft.
The attack involved strafing on enemy tanks with the A-25s and with bombs being dropped on areas of high enemy concentration.
The attack also involved the dropping of Loki Gas canisters, a less-than-lethal hallucinogenic gas meant to incapacitate enemy soldiers (OOC: it's highly potent, but length of time affected by hallucinations depends on exposure. If your soldiers had very easy access to gas masks - especially if they had gas masks on their person - then the time affected would be fairly low), in order to cause chaos among the factions fighting for the city.
The Valgoran air force did lose 5 V-18s and 2 F-181s during the attack, with 2 heavily damaged A-25s and 5 lightly damaged A-25s.

(OOC Note on the Loki Gas: The factbook is wrong about the length of time soldiers are affected, 12 hours is the max before it is a lethal dose. A canister should have enough to affect soldiers exposed - and if they can't get/don't have gas masks - for 4 to 6 hours. Having gas masks easy to get - but not on the soldier - should reduce it to 3 to 4 hours MAXIMUM. Having gas masks on their person will reduce the time to 1 to 2 hours MAXIMUM; already wearing a gas mask, or putting one on before exposure will reduce the time to 0 hours. I'm giving you all this info about it so that it is not godmodding. Tell me if there is any other info you need on this stuff.)

The New Equestrian government authorizes the initiation of an internal espionage campaign against Valgora. Imperial sleeper agents in the country of Valgora are activated and secretly begin collecting intelligence from various Valgroan military and government organizations. The Colony of Coltfield is more heavily reinforced: 1st Armoured Division, 1st and 20th Artillery Divisions, 1st Airborne Division, 1st Aviation Brigade, 32nd Support Regiment (7th Air Support Brigade), 41st Support Regiment (9th Air Support Brigade), 50th Airborne Reconnaissance Regiment (11th Airborne Reconnaissance Brigade), and the 16th Air Wing of the Imperial Air Force, with further units on standby. Fourth Fleet is deployed into waters a little over 100 nautical miles from the CAR held islands (a force of 3 heavy carriers, 4 missile cruisers, 10 missile destroyers, and 10 missile frigates). Naval fighters from the IES Andy begin flying maneuvers over Valgoran ships. Tensions between New Equestria and Valgora increase.

(OOC: I feel like I should include a real reason for wanting to join the war, but I don't know how to do that IC. Basically New Equestria hopes to increase its global influence by assisting Armestesia, and possibly gain some territory. Kind of like how the Soviet Union wanted to spread communism during the cold war and gained influence over countries like North Korea and those in Eastern Europe.)

The Leader of Valgora, Dr. Timotei Lininsson, gives a speech about Valgora's involvement in the Armetesian War.

The army of Valgora sends an additional 500,000 soldiers to the CAR held islands as a response to New Equestria's involvement. Valgora is also sending 10 missile destroyers, 2 aircraft carriers, 10 battleships (1 missile battleship, 4 railgun battleships, 5 artillery battleships), 20 frigates (10 missile, 10 "normal"), and 10 missile cruisers.

The Valgoran Air Force is having a few fighters drop propaganda leaflets made out of biodegradable hemp paper.

In response to Dr. Lininsson's speech, Prime Minister Holstenpony of Armetesia holds a emergency press conference in an undisclosed location outside of Hirschdorf.

"The Imperial Duchy of Armetesia as well as it's sovereign territories advises not do support a poorly equipped so-called "democratic" party which is attempting to gain control through a military struggle. Those factions usually convert into the worst form of regime once placed in the position of power. The Imperial Duchy holds libertarianism as the core ideology of the country, and suggesting that we do not guarantee our citizen freedom of prosperity & civil liberty feels as a direct personal attack on the soul of our nation. The system that Armetesia had before the disappearance of His Highness Europus II worked well to ensure a stable, prosperous & powerful country, and we seek to preserve that legacy. If Valgora wants a fight, then we shall show them the full wrath of the Armetesian people."

Armetesian F-25 Raptors begin engaging with Hellfire missiles directed at Valgoran aircraft.

Bomber squadrons move into the open ocean and begin dropping thermobaric ordnance on Valgoran ships.

Despited being attacked by the Armetesian Royal Air Force (OOC: is this what it's called), the Valgoran navy remains completely intact. The anti-air defenses of the ships and the proximity to the CAR held islands which allowed ground-based anti-air defenses to engage the enemy.

The attacks didn't come without losses to both sides however; the number of Armetesian casualties are unknown, while the Valgoran Navy lost 2 destroyers and had 3 heavily damaged cruisers. Multiple ships also reported anywhere between 20 to 60 casualties, while 8 V-18s where shot down with 6 pilots managing to eject and get picked up in the ocean.

Away during the attack, 3 missile cruisers launched 9 (3 each) Thor's Thunder Hypersonic cruise missile hybrids at suspected Argovist League military positions in Gallombardi. 3 were thermobaric while the other 6 were not.
(OOC: somewhat based off of this although slightly more advanced.)

(OOC: We really need to have someone join in order to have another faction join in, this needs to be more of a clusterfuck.
Also, New Equestria needs to be added to the list of foreign participants.)

On top of the hills encircling Gallombardi, 60 Armetesian Mobile Long Range Ballistic Missiles Launchers fired off non-nuclear Topol ICBM's at the CAR-occupied Čriev Islands. Argovist RAH-66's begin firing on enemy personal within the city, hoping to overpower them with a swift blow of arial superiority. Casualties have not been tallied by Imperial Forces.

Thanks to the defenses set up by the Valgoran Military, many missiles were destroyed by ground-based and ship-based lasers. Many other missiles were also knocked off course by lasers.
At least 35 hit there intended targets resulting in multiple casualties that have not been tallied by the military yet; however, it is expected that at least 100 to 300 civilians were killed in the attack.
Thanks to the use of magic to create a shield, some of the 25 missiles did little damage.
Some of the missile knocked off course still hit the islands. Tragically, a few of those missiles hit areas of large civilian populations, with the death toll expected to reach at least 750 civilians.

Dr. Timotei has order that all civilians on the islands killed will received the Order of the Red Banner, the highest civilian award the DTDV can give (OOC: that may change depending on how much research I do.).

Having learned of why the Argovist League is wanting to take Gallombardi, hypersonic cruise missiles have been launch at the harbors of the city in an attempt to disable or destroy the docks.
30 non-nuclear ICBMs have also been launched from Valgora with the aim of destroying the harbors.

More supplies have been sent to the islands. Escorted of course.

I can understand that you are tired of being exploited by foreigners interested in their own benefits. While that is respectable, I am more than aware of your militaristic and political disadvantages. Let's get real, the increasing amount of Argovist support has virtually cemented their victory, and the support those "freedom-fighter" rebels are receiving doesn't particularly help your case. In no time the Argovists are gonna send you back to square one digging ditches for foreign mining companies.

Now, as a high-ranking official within the Triskovakastanian military and parliament, I can pull some strings and secure your victory quite easily. Even in the most unfavorable outcome, with my aid you could establish your own recognized nation and prosper under my guidance. I am prepared to provide large sums of financial aid and lend you some of the finest veterans our nation has to offer. Of course, I have my conditions. I will provide you aid for your cause if you agree to:

1. Restrict Armetesia to trade with Triskovakastan only.
2. Conduct business discreetly with my permitted investors (their business should benefit you quite well).

4. Sign a mutual defense pact with Triskovakastan in case of international conflicts and emergencies.

Anton looked over his letter. He hoped to receive some sort of agreement from the national socialists whether it be hesitant or not. His intentions definitely violated Triskovakastan's diplomatic procedures and he could've been arrested for supporting a foreign conflict illegally. Since he was regarded as a venerable official among his colleagues, he felt no need to worry about the consequences. After all, he did put the confidential seal on the envelope, and if anyone without proper clearance saw its contents they would be dead no matter what. Anton called for his assistant, Ignatiy Volkhov, over the intercom to meet him in his office.

AS: "At ease, lad. I need this delivered to that loon von Chittennsburg no later than by the end of the night. It's an attempt to try and... pacify the current war in Armetesia. Also,

Armetesia, you need to add New Equestria to the list of foreign participants and the guy I TG you about to that list as well.

And can we make a rule against nuclear weapons? It's just to make sure that no one joining gets the idea that nuclear weapons are allowed.

And anyone who is part of this RP, don't acknowledge Triskovakastan's existence until he/she accepts that ponies and non-humans are involved and until Armetesia accepts their participation in the war.

Empress Silver Brush stepped up to the podium to deliver her speech, a speech that was being broadcasted all across the Empire.

"Yesterday, February 15th, 2017 - a date which will live in Infamy - the Holy Empire of New Equestria was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval forces of the United Marxist States of Valgora.

Missile cruisers under the command of the Valgoran Navy launched nine missiles targeting Armestesian military targets. During these attacks, New Equestrian citizens, both civilian and military, were killed while carrying out mitigation and relief duties for the current emergency situation in Armetesia.

We would like to send a message to Valgora, and to the world, that the Empire will not stand for this. We will not stand idly by and watch as our citizens are murdered at the hands of terrorists. We will support the legitimate and legal government of Armestesia, and assist that nation in all endeavors to fight against the rebel factions attempting to overthrow what has since been a peaceful reign. Only since the suspicious disappearance of Europus von Helvetia-Hirsch II has this peace been threatened.

From this point on, a state of war will exist between the Holy Empire of New Equestria and the Armestesian rebels, and anyone else who dares support them, including the United Marxist States of Valgora."

Empress Silver Brush stepped down from the podium to thunderous applause. Minutes later a request is telegrammed to the government of Armestesia to have military personnel of New Equestria move into the country and engage with rebel forces in assistance of the Imperial Guard. In addition, the Imperial Foreign Legion and 210,000 Army Guards are embarked to the Colony of Coltfield from the New Equestrian Isles, and the current forces in the colony mobilize along the boarder.
