Traumatized Memories (OOC, FT, OPEN)

Postby Ponyi Meridia » Tue Feb 07, 2017 2:18 pm

Hell: That's the only thing I think of with this galaxy.
All around me is nothing but suffering and torment.
And yet none of the other natives can see,
That we have worse to fear than judgement.

Four factions all seek the same purpose,
To purge all of the demons and save everyone,
And yet they all have something to propose,
But do their promises really benefit anyone?

There is the Ponyi Alliance of Sentient Species,
A joke of a galactic union between bitter nations.
In truth it is today little more than a pile of feces,
Twisted and irreparable due to splinter factions.

Then there is the return of the White Order,
An armada of racism birthed from Meridia's flaws.
They promise to keep the demons at the border,
But the purist beast has been sharpening the claws.

Next up is the Golden Hand of Christmorrow,
A strange Christianity of guns and suppression.
Those who join them will heal their sorrow,
But those who don't will experience oppression.

Finally, there is the one only known as "The Boss,"
A shady entity of goals undefined even to their kin.
While they wish for Meridia to once again gloss,
They will also push the women into greater sin.

Numerous fleets will arrive to change the fates,
To either pull Ponyi from or push it into gloom,
War and politics will reshape many of the states,
But all matters not for the only outcome is DOOM.

This roleplay is a sequel to Charon's Curse. In case you're not familiar with that game, do not worry. Here are the basics of what resulted from that game: The demons have flooded the Ponyi Galaxy and they're now creating havoc all over the place. The fate of Judas Charon and the Spindleans sent to kill him are uncertain, along with the fate of many other characters. The PASS is just barely holding itself together. Meridia is in a civil war with itself and everybody else in the galaxy wants both sides dead, save for "The Boss." Oh, and Koth got blown up both as part of a failed effort to halt the demon invasions, but also to send a message to the rest of the galaxy to take the demonic threats much more seriously.

The White Order and Christmorrow are recent arrivals to the galaxy, but there's a bit of history behind both factions. This will be revealed later within this game. Further details about the various factions can be found within my factbook entries.

THE RULES:
1: You cannot have numbers of forces that are more absurd than what FT games already allow for. Be reasonable.
2: Unless you have my explicit permission, and you probably won't get it, you cannot send in reinforcements.
3: You have to pick a side in this roleplay. You may leave a group and join another if there is good reasoning for this.
4: Please do not send in overpowered units. If you are unsure if something or someone is overpowered, please go over the details with us.
5: If one of your roleplaying characters is crucial for survival in any way, then do not send them into suicidal situations. It won't end well.
6: Do not post anything which may invoke the wrath of the moderators. Nobody has fun once the ban-hammer is being swung around.
7: Swearing is acceptable in this game, but be sure not to become excessive about it. Five paragraphs of F-bombs become quite dull to read.
8: Do not exploit the meta to your advantage. For example: I post about stealth fighters moving to a certain moon. You do not get to order your people to head in that direction unless they already have a strong reason to be within this location.

I'm sorry, but I think I'll have to deny your application. If you're wanting to spread demons, well that's sadly just not allowed here. There are four factions to join, and none of them want the demons to expand anymore than they've already accomplished. Also I feel your answer regarding the ORBAT is simply unacceptable.

Not sure why war crimes are labeled in quotations, but your application is accepted. No idea when I'll actually get the IC thread itself though. I don't want to make any promises because I don't quite have a stellar record of keeping track. You know how things are.

Made a small mistake, but it will have to be addressed later in the game itself. Basically, I've been thinking more about the Hayden Federation and their involvement with previous events. Kind of seems odd to leave them out, but they can't really be thrown in as a fifth faction now, I don't think. I'll have to make the Hayden Federation ally with one of the four factions, most likely the White Order. I'm also thinking about getting the Frazettans involved, for the same reasons as the Federation. I think they'll be even more tricky to fit into a faction though. The Anubian Empire will remain a part of PASS, and the Borgathians will either be completely rogue or end up siding with the Boss. It may seem odd to mention these last two, but I'm starting to think there's no way they can avoid being involved. The Lirasa Initiative will be completely left out of this game; they'll be residing in their own system where they've already managed to push whatever demons were here out, and are heavily focusing on rebuilding. The Shadow Space Sanctuary will also be left out, but for other reasons I won't state here.

This war will mainly be taking place in the Meso System and the Halqa System. The Aether System will become involved later in the game. And of course, the Lirasa System will be left out of this.

Another thing: Just for the sake of it I'll create an application for the Frazettans, because why not? The Meridese will be more or less sitting this one out, since they're secretly being aided by the Boss. They don't know it, but they are. Of course, things aren't quite as they seem to be. Let's just say they might step in once chaos ensues around the Aether System. Just one little reminder: Regardless of what happens, one of the four factions have to win. And no, it's not scripted, meaning a Golden Hand or White Order triumph is just as likely as a Boss or PASS victory. This will, however, lead into another game. There's a 3/4th chance the victorious will become a primary threat later on. Which one is the good ending? I'm not saying!

One last thing: Yes, he's back. Draco Bubo, (former) host of the Meso System Media, will re-appear for this game. He will be working under a different business, however. MSM, for legal and business reasons, will have merged with a larger corporation and they're more keen on keeping Bubo around due to his popularity throughout the Ponyi Galaxy.

Perhaps you should revise your application by removing any vagueness and by adding in a more acceptable ORBAT?

The destruction of Koth, the failure to protect their member species, the rampant corruption and political greed within the PASS, the disposal of nukes through using them against planets, and their obsession with Plato were all considered war crimes. I'll have to edit my app, since I didn't elaborate on the war crimes part. Also, I'm not sure if I will change my ORBAT numbers, since the current numbers will be stretched too thin.

Hurrah! Draco Bubo's back!

Nation Name: The Foundation

Names of top military leaders during this roleplay:
  • The O5 Council (referred to only by their numbers: O5-1 through O5-13)
  • Task Force Commander Valentina Prugova, Strategic Expeditionary Task Force Ϣ-16
  • Dr. Eric Vandenburg, Orbital Task Force Omicron-17
Government Type: De jure not a government but a secret private organization with global reach, de facto a global organization with "shadow-government" like influence and capability. Internal governance is best described as a merito-oligarchic technocratic entocryptocracy (form of government wherein much of the governmental apparatus is secret and thus hidden, even to those in the government itself).

List of species within your military (Example: Humans only. Humans, Bothan & Wookies. Meridese & Normal Humans. Etcetera.): Humans only. There are, however, a few nonhuman, (probably) nonsentient races present on our sole capital ship; these are detailed below.

Preferred ally (The Boss, White Order, Golden Hand, or The PASS?): The Boss, I think. Not entirely sure on who or what he is, since I wasn't able to find any mention of him in your factbook. Basically, we just want to kill demons and don't care about politics for the most part.

Why did you select the above to be your ally? Tentatively made that selection based on my aforementioned uncertainty regarding the factions. Plus, we didn't want to ally with the White Order because they're apparently Nazis, and the Golden Hand are a bit too similar to some organizations we've fought before for us to be completely comfortable siding with them.

ORBAT (Please include ship numbers and number of available infantry. Ground vehicles too if you plan on planetary combat.):

    Naval Forces
  • 1 SCP-2722 instance, a.k.a. Solidarity-class super-dreadnought
The Solidarity [image=http://scp-wiki.wdfiles.com/local--files/scp-2722/2722-Z-3.png] is utterly massive - just under 24.5 kilometers long, and 6 kilometers wide at its widest point. It is also not built by humanity. The Foundation has absolutely zero idea who built it; they literally just found it drifting in the outer solar system in the 21st Century, and have kept it hidden until now, essentially. Examination suggests that the Solidarity may be millions of years old, and evidence suggests it has been modified time and time again, having been passed from one culture to another. Judging by the nature of some of these modifications, it is suspected that some of these may involve alternate timelines. As a result, the ship is a chaotic hodgepodge of machinery that somehow still works. At this point, we don't even have a full internal map yet. (However, the stuff shown below is the extent of its capabilities for RP combat purposes; I won't be suddenly 'discovering' a giant death-laser.) I should also note that it is capable of communicating with the Foundation's home reality somehow.
Propulsion: The Solidarity is propelled by 11 nuclear engines. Painfully slow. An FTL system has been discovered; it works by using dark energy to 'cancel out' the ship's mass. It has been retrofitted with a system designed to assist the ship with trans-dimensional travel.
Weapons: Below are some of the known weapon systems aboard the Solidarity. It should be noted that most of these have not been tested. Results upon use may vary, and not in a good way.
500x 477mm very-high-velocity breech-loading cannons with automated control systems and manual targeting. Each gun is connected to a central 'scoreboard,' we don't know why.
1 kinetic delivery system capable of firing very high-yield (estimated to be in the 5 petaton-range) Teller-Ullam thermonuclear projectiles. Use of this weapon is currently forbidden due to a Hungarian-language inscription on the weapon reading "DO NOT USE: BLAST RADIUS EXCEEDS RANGE." The weapon is currently in moderate disrepair, and is not operational at this time.
1 15m-long organic anti-boarding module. Believed to contain a large number of insectoid organisms of unknown disposition (thus, potentially hostile). Current standing orders are to not open this under any circumstances (barring an imminent loss of vessel control to a hostile boarding party) on account of several inscriptions saying not to.
34 magnetic accelerator cannons, stationed across three separate decks.
1 "GRAND WAVE MOTION PROJECTION CANNON," an extremely ornately-decorated device located at the bow that accelerates carbon atoms to near-lightspeed somehow. Appears to be intended as a shield-depleting and/or armor-piercing weapon. If a nearby inscription is to be believed, the discharging of this weapon in the atmosphere has catastrophic and highly destructive effects. Exactly how one would go about getting the Solidarity into a planet's atmosphere is currently unknown.
3 hypervelocity magnetic accelerator cannons. Mounted ventrally, with 2km-long rails. Possibly intended for waste disposal, as no ammunition has been found; however, onboard machinery has been used to create more-or-less functional rounds.
12 high-powered chemical lasers designed for missile interception. Wired into an automated interception grid, which is somewhat glitchy but functional.
Numerous guided missile launchers installed by the Foundation, as well as a number of modified Hydra 70 unguided rocket turrets.

Shielding: All attempts to locate actual shielding have failed. It would appear that the Solidarity was intended to rely solely on its thick armor plating. In terms of armor plating, the Solidarity is incredibly well-armored, although proper analysis of the armor plating of certain parts is impossible due to unknown/non-reproducible materials being used in their construction.

    Support Vessels:
Around thirty single-pilot fighters of unknown origin armed with autocannons and guided missiles were discovered in a 'docking bay'-like area. Said fighters bear jingoistic inscriptions in 19th-century French referencing the "Sino-Imperial League", and appear to be designed for the use of a quadrupedal, digitigrade species. No attempts have been made to fly them.
We also have three hundred Foundation-built ES-11 Exoatmospheric Combat Vehicles, which are essentially gun-armed, heavily armored Soyuz capsules. Not even joking. They may be pathetically outmatched, but their armor is thick enough that they can take a serious beating.
Additionally, we have three quite large space shuttle-like landing craft of unknown origin. They were discovered in a hangar, and each is approximately sixty feet long. They are unarmed.
One 150-meter-long escape vehicle with massive cargo space. For some reason, it is fitted with absurdly large water purification systems and a molecular factory designed to produce krill. Controls are very large, and require mechanical assistance to operate. (The vessel appears to be designed as a single-man transport for an unknown race of very large cetaceans.) Around 75 smaller, twelve-man, short-range escape pods are scattered around the ship.
There are also around 10,000 nonsentient spherical repair drones of unknown origin. Said drones communicate with each other in what appears to be binary Swedish, and frequently sing upbeat work songs in Swedish. (The reason for this is unknown.) The drones 'reproduce' via a mitosis-like process.
  • 3x modified instances of SCP-2237, designated as Sentinel-class cruisers
    - Relatively fragile colonization vessels manufactured by the Foundation at an unknown point in the past and converted for combat. Around 1,000 m long; however, onboard systems are heavily automated, and the ship only requires a crew of about 50. Given their small size compared to the Solidarity, they can be deployed from its larger hangar bays.
    - Armament is significant but not heavy, with most of it consisting of mass drivers, missile launchers, and laser missile interception systems.
    - Additionally, each of the three vessels carries one Xyank-Scranton Causality Disruptor, (XSCD) an extremely powerful weapon designed to be used against planets which utilizes anomalous technology to momentarily disrupt the very nature of cause-and-effect. Specifically, it triggers a localized reality reset that effectively "erases" the surface of the planet, including any civilizations, life, etc. from having ever existed (others, however, will still remember their existence). The surface, atmosphere, and chemical composition of the planet will then be "overwritten" with that of Earth, minus human civilization. This weapon was originally designed to be used to instantaneously terraform a planet in the event that Earth was rendered uninhabitable by anomalous objects or entities.
    - However, it is worth noting that its use is extremely dangerous due to the nature of the weapon itself. The vessel firing the weapon has to be a long distance away from the surface in order to avoid being annihilated. Additionally, it cannot be used against artificial targets such as starships. Finally, it takes over ten minutes to charge, and is extremely unlikely to be used unless the situation for Foundation forces becomes exceptionally dire, largely due to the Foundation's own reluctance to potentially endanger its own ships (the usage of the XSCD comes with a serious risk of destroying the ship involved, and usually renders the weapon itself incapable of being used again.)
  • 9x modified instances of SCP-2237, designated as Guardian-class cruisers
    - The same ship as the Sentinel-class, except that instead of an XSCD each is equipped with a powerful electronic countermeasures, jamming, and cyberwarfare suite designed to target the guidance systems, communications, and electronics of what the ship's designers assumed would be the vessel's more advanced adversaries.
Ground Forces:
- In total, around 30,000 ground troops, equipped with a mix of modern 21st century armament and vehicles. These are mostly more or less regular Security Department infantry, with around 5,000 of them being members of the Foundation's highly trained Mobile Task Forces.

Roleplaying Sample (Optional. I will be checking factbooks.): viewtopic.php?p=28618527#p28618527 (Please note that the RP that's from is not considered canon for the purpose of the Foundation's backstory.)

Additional Background Info: The Foundation are present-day humans from an alternate reality that was, for reasons which remain unclear, attacked by the demons. This occured in 2013, after one of the Foundation's rivals unintentionally opened a wormhole to the Ponyi Galaxy/wherever the demons come from, causing demons to flood through and invade the Earth. Cue a three-year-long war that wiped out most of humanity and ended with the Foundation using their "nuclear option" and employing an anomalous item to perform a localized reality reset, effectively meaning that the war never happened and that no one on Earth (outside of the Foundation themselves) has any memory of it. Now, with the memory of six billion dead fresh in their minds, the Foundation is out for blood, and intends to ensure that such an event can never happen again.
"Mankind must not go back to hiding in fear. While the rest of mankind dwells in the light, we must stand in the darkness to fight it, contain it, and shield it from the eyes of the public, so that others may live in a sane and normal world."

The Foundation: a global, secret shadow government tasked with protecting humanity from the horrors of all things unknown and anomalous.

If this is still alive, I'm joining.
The Alliance wants payback.
Nation Name: The Irenton Alliance

Names of top military leaders during this roleplay: General Philip Hawkshaw

Government Type: Parliamentary Monarchy

List of species within your military (Example: Humans only. Humans, Bothan & Wookies. Meridese & Normal Humans. Etcetera.): Vortexian, Shinjan, Valkyrie and Zelian are being deployed.

Preferred ally (The Boss, White Order, Golden Hand, or The PASS?): The Boss

Why did you select the above to be your ally? The Irenton Alliance have a typical hatred for The PASS, for many reasons, the Golden Hand and White Order are either Quasi-religious states or racist xenophobes. So The Boss is the only one who the Alliance would think of supporting.

ORBAT (Please include ship numbers and number of available infantry. Ground vehicles too if you plan on planetary combat.):
IV Fleet
2 Vector Class Dreadnoughts
4 Pride Class Battleships
8 Paladin Class Cruisers

So first off I want to apologize for being absent to my own roleplay, which hasn't even begun! I haven't been feeling in the best of moods for dealing with this and I'm terribly sorry for this. I knew starting a game like this would probably be too soon, but since I've started I feel it would be a dick move to just abandon this from the get-go. May as well give it a chance.

So, regarding applications...

First of all Eodor's application: Accepted.

And then there's Foundation's application: Accepted.

Just for clarification: It's definitely my fault for not giving more details regarding who the Boss is. They were only introduced in Charon's Curse and even reading through the entire threads won't yield any concrete information as to who they are. All that can be known is the demons refer to them and their people as "parasites," they prefer working in secrecy, and they have a keen interest in Plato of the Meso System. I was thinking of trying out a sort of "author avatar" scenario using the Boss, but I've decided to decline on this long before making this roleplay. The Meridese Emperor, Julian, is more or less the author avatar now... But he's also dead so this probably doesn't matter anyways.

Of this I will say though: Given the SCP Foundation and all, I think the Boss in of him/herself (The Boss does have an official gender, I'm just keeping it a spoiler.) will be of interest to the Foundation's research efforts even in the event their side does happen to win the war. Obviously I don't want to go into further details, but everything you discover about them will come across as off even if we get to their victory. One thing I'm certain though is the third roleplay will be centered around them.

If you are still uncertain about being allied with the Boss, you may leave a small post now to change your mind on which faction to side with. I won't blame you. In fact of everyone accepted to this game currently, everybody is on Team Boss! I understand not siding with the White Order or Christmorrow, but not even PASS? Too corrupt? Too many furries? The fact they did nothing to prevent the demons from flooding the galaxy or the destruction of an entire planet?

... Maybe it does make sense to ally with the one faction you have no knowledge on. *Shrug.*

One last thing: I'll try making an IC thread sometime this week, and I am serious on this! I'll also make an application for Frazetta. The Frazettans appeared in Charon's Curse, so I'm thinking why not for this game as well? May also take some time to modify Christmorrow and maybe give the White Order their own nation. Just places to add more details about them. That, and I feel I've made at least the Golden Hand a little too monstrous for the taste of anyone wanting to side with them so I'll see what I can do about making at least those in the Ponyi Galaxy a little more agreeable. Can't say the same will be possible for the White Order. I mean... How does one go about NOT demonizing neo-Nazis?

Speaking of Nazis and demons... (P.S.: Sorry to any Justin Beiber fans out there.)

Ponyi, 3,750,000 Novayans will use 21st century weapons and equipment so as to ease the amount of money being spent on creating the Novayan expeditionary force. For that reason, the player RPing as the SCP Foundation for this RP has sparked within me renewed interests in The Salvation War. I LOVE that kind of fiction!

Why is an FT nation using 21st century weaponry?

Because the pressure on the arms manufacturing industry for a post-scarcity economy to manufacture just under 4 million contemporary (as in sci-fi) combat arms is overwhelming. /sarcasm

On a serious note, I don't see why not. Weapons from 2100 are still likely high-quality ballistics which could still work in sci-fi. I mean... Halo makes it look good. XD

Why is an FT nation using 21st century weaponry?

3,750,000 out of 138,000,000 million Novayans will only be using 21st century weaponry because of the budget constraints in which taxpayer money were spent on building up, equipping and training the Novayan expeditionary force.

You do not have to be a participant of the previous game to take part in this. Eodor and Novaya are just players from the previous game, and Frazetta (not introduced yet) is a puppet nation of mine. SCP Foundation is new to us though.

So here's a list of what all happened in the last game (The list is very long!):
1: The Hayden Federation struck a deal into helping Judas Charon spread demons into the Meso System for their own nefarious research. This plan backfired when the Demons managed to overrun Hades, a planet under Hayden control. Now they're struggling between fighting the demons they've foolishly unleashed along with the military backlash of angry opponents in the system.

2: With the general PASS corruption along with greed over rumors surrounding planet Plato's wealth, almost no concern has been given to addressing the demons and now they're widespread in an unpredictable fashion. The PASS is unable to address the demons or even the Meridese problems due to their own infighting. While locals in the Meso System are trying to clean up the mess, the Halqa System is still in a civil war between the Anubian Empire and the Borgathians.

3: The Lirasa Initiative is suffering horrible economic instability as of late which prevented them from addressing various "Rift anomalies" in the Aether System or suspicious activity around Plato's surface. Now they're just barely holding on and they just managed to push out all demons from the Lirasa System. Unfortunately, the Initiative cannot spare any forces to address demonic outbreaks in other areas of the Ponyi Galaxy.

4: The Shadow Space Sanctuary, secretly under control of four wealthy individuals (KIR-4) associated with the bowels of Hell, are in disarray thanks to the loss of a KIR-4 executive has many people in panic and the other three are scrambling to get things under control. Rumor has it they are also responsible for assisting in spreading a lot of the demon forces, which is problematic for businesses in the SSS that are being hit by the chaos. Rumor also has it they're hoping to destroy the PASS in hopes of taking over and establishing SSS-style anarchy.

5: The Meridese are in rebellion against Samantha Sanguine's coup. The lack of rations to go about combined with the heavy militarization and desire for a future war has everyone on edge. The Meridese rebels attempted to join the PASS ,but racial tensions from the Meridese Empire still linger. The PASS is too distrusting of the Meridese and resentment of their actions from over a century ago have not gone away. Meanwhile rumors are about of Sanguine either stepping down or being overthrown. Regardless, the two people most likely to replace her are the trigger-happy, man-hating Jamie Smith, and the paranormal and malicious Ariel Desdemona. The rebels won't be happy with either one in charge.

6: The Novayans made one too many mistakes the first time they entered the Meso System, and this resulted in becoming enemies with almost everyone in the galaxy. Seeking to make up for their mistakes and set up trade deals shortly after, they are moving in to defeat the demonic forces in the area. If need be, they'll also push out all the White Order and Golden Hand forces from the area. It's still unclear to me what they think of the PASS exactly, but I get the feeling they'll want it to become dismantled and replaced with a new organization. The PASS despises the Novayans for attempting to set up a blockade system around Plato, berating them about corruption despite being corrupt themselves, and attacking PASS forces around Plato and Koth. The Meridese rebels are angry with the Novayans because their leader, Borealis Norsoutha, allowed a war criminal closely associated with Samantha Sanguine to escape the galaxy alive. He's also not in Novayan custody either. Given their history with other war criminals, and now the rebels view Borealis to be about as bad as Sanguine. Borealis will likely want to change those opinions however he can, but first they must first start by addressing the demon problems though, and worry about Meridia later.

7: Koth, a planet in the Meso System was destroyed. The people responsible were not fully aware on how to deal with the demonic threat and took a rash approach to the situation. At least with Koth destroyed it will send a message to the rest of the PASS about letting greed and hatred override their basic need for survival. Or at least, some of the PASS leaders. Many of the organization still have yet to learn a thing from this.

8: The White Order was only vaguely mentioned aboard Meridia Bravo, and may have attacked the Meridese to try and steal information regarding cloning technology. The Golden Hand is actually reference to an older game, but they were retconned out of existence. Their story is much different now, but all you really need to know is they're a mixture of corporate power, gun obsession, and bible-thumping. Basically Republican Party-United States of America in space. The White Order is basically Nazism in space, with clone armies. (Not clone citizens, mind you.) Both of these factions will have their lore and relation to the Ponyiverse explained a bit more as the game goes on. The Boss... Is a bit of an oddity.

9: Aside from a secret, private army, I have deliberately kept information regarding the Boss away from everybody else and I am sorry for that. They'll become much more active in this game though, and basically they're trying to rebuild the Ponyi Galaxy in their image. They want to help out the Meridese, unlike everybody else, but exactly how is also vague. They actually first appeared around Plato, acting out in secret. Borealis spotted a few of them, but had no idea who they were. No communication was possible at the time. However, this game will begin with the Boss trying to contact everyone who just conveniently happens to be arriving to the Ponyi Galaxy around the same time.

10: Charon's Curse ended on a cliffhanger because I could not get any word from Spindle regarding what to do with the fate of everybody who got teleported into Hell. The only confirmed survivor is "Jack the Ripper," one of the Frazettan warriors who may re-appear for this game. Judas Charon himself was last seen as an emperor form of the Herbert Romero virus. His dog, Cerberus, is also infected and it's unknown where all he has traveled off to. The lives of everyone else, such as Jazz Winter, Venus Prime and the Spindleans, cannot be determined. Very unlikely anyone else will be appearing in this game.
