Kohlneasian Defense & Intelligence Report - Invasion of the Ajuran Sultanate

As of 12:26AM EST January 1st, 2021, we have learned that Haptou Monfraib, our Director of Colonial Affairs, has moved the XIII and IX Afrikan divisions into the Ajuran Sultanate.

These forces consist of:
190,000 Infantry
40,000 east-asian mercenaries
1,000 Bushwacker special forces
over 1,000 armored vehicles
Further militia reinforcements numbering nearly 20,000

Our intelligence informs us that these forces are armed with AK-47's, Type-38 rifles, RPG-9's, and are being transported in BMP-3's, HUMVEE's, BTR-80's and improvised armored vehicles. Alpha embedded with the XIII and IX Afrika (native-born Kenyan and Tanzanians) have informed us that these troops are operating under the direction of Haptou Monfraib. Alpha is advising these forces for the time being to maintain their cover. They are headed for the African horn and are tasked with the occupation of Bosaso and Djibouti. Initial reports indicate the Afrika corps have engaged Ajuran security forces in the outskirts of their cities. Sultanate forces have routed when met with Republic forces, although initial casualties have been heavy. Resistance has been fierce. Alpha reports nearly four thousand casualties in the 9th and 13th as they move towards their objectives, with nearly seven thousand Sultanate forces killed, deserted, or taken prisoner.

Afrikan Bushwacker Special Forces have been dispatched with orders to capture or kill members of the royal house Ajuran Sultanate. We must of course endeavor to protect these royal guardians. To this end, I have ordered Sun Devil operatives to secure and extract royal members of the House of Ajuran.

To make matters worse in the Afrikan front however, we have intercepted reports that Admiral Joya Novrakech's 6th Fleet is providing advanced fire support to Monfraib. Whether she is acting in belief that she has the support of the Kohlneasian Directorate or in collusion with Monfraib, we are still attempting to ascertain. We are attempting to verify these reports, but if true, that would leave Monfraib with fire support from the KNS Invanka, Petry, Maktoum, Rashad, Shehl I - X, Aden, and Hisham.

We will keep you updated as we learn more and attempt to diffuse the situation. It is important for our Director of State, Khara Ghinesh to let the international community know that we are not officially participating in, nor are we endorsing these moves made by Monfraib. We denounce his recent actions in annexing Uganda, and we denounce his independent invasion of The Ajuran Sultanate.

We are communicating through secure channels to reach a peaceful settlement with the Ajuran Sultanate and Haptou Monfraib.

Although in deteriorating shape, the President and General Field Marshall of Vanavoy arrived at the Wännerstadt Palace, his new residence, and dispatched his Senior Adviser, Helmuth Bergius, to announce the creation of the 5th Vanavoian Empire with Steier as Emperor. He also announced the end of parliament's suspension and the creation a new constitution, something the parliament has failed to do until now. In the speech given by General Bergius on behalf of Emperor Steier a large emphasis is to be put on the reestablishment of institutions seen in the Third Empire. Due to this it is believed a new constitution would be heavily influenced by the 3rd Empire's equivalent of a constitution: The Romenburg Pact.

Enforcement of the change in policy has been brutal and swift with thousands believed to be executed and thousands more imprisoned in the past week alone. Whether this will lead to an extension of the Civil War or this is just an initial shock is unclear, but as laws are quickly changed and the government reformed, the Nationalist Party is becoming more and more rooted in Vanavoian government making it nearly unstoppable at this point. In recent days most media sources and industries in general have been nationalized, and this is likely due to the economic plan being constructed in the Landtag. With a more radical approach to the anti-left sentiment of the Nationalist Capitalist Coalition, nearly a century of socialist influence on Vanavoy will likely be reversed, leading to a new surge in extremist nationalism and far right doctrines.

This plan has been closely inspected and reviewed by our creditors and has been fully approved and will take affect as of today at 09:00 hours. More plans are soon to come for more economic progress and we have been discussing our economic future with our creditors. Mr. Bosrov of Walgreens,

On behalf of the 12th Directorate of the Republic of Kohlneas, I apologize if you feel the actions of a rogue Director (a non-native born Kohlneasian) were in any way state sanctioned, but I assure you that Monfraib is acting on his own accord and with the individual loyalties of the men under him, with which he used to acquire the materiel he is using to push into the Sultanate. I can assure you that he is marching under his own banner, with his own lieutenants and generals. To be blunt, we lost control of the man we put in charge to keep the Kenyans, Tanzanians, and Ugandans in line. We overestimed their desire for freedom under the Republic, and underestimated Monfraib's desire to carve out his own African kingdom.

We have undercover intelligence operatives embedded with his forces, and Monfraib appears to have believed that the conquest of Ajuran would be easy given that the government and ruling family has been completely absent from all affairs public and private these past few months. Even the teams we dispatched to rescue them from Monfraib's Bushwackers have been unable to locate the family. Whether they have already been captured by Monfraib or are simply still missing, is uncertain.

According to the latest reports, Monfraib has pushed forward into the capital of Djibouti and coastal city of Bosaso, where he is engaged in fierce street fighting with local Ajuran militias and military forces. We estimate that Monfraib has lost nearly ten-thousand men (to wounds, desertion, and KIA). The Ajuranese forces have faired even worse. It seems the surprise attack and initial overwhelming force has caused much of the army to desert. Our sources tell us Monfraib has taken nearly 8,000 prisoners, and killed thousands more in combat. Whether those prisoners are alive or not, is difficult to ascertain.

Although we regret the quasi-imperialistic tone of your announcement, we understand how it may be viewed that Monfraib is our responsibility and thus requires action on our behalf to stop his illegal takeover of the Sultanate. However, we cannot simply issue an order for his men to stop. We have already made it clear that they are operating way outside the bounds of Directorate approval (we have even formally removed Monfraib from his post in government), but it does not seem to have stalled or hampered their efforts. We wish to make this right, and I have spoken with General Mehmed Al Rabin - he has formulated a plan using Kohlneasian ground forces to break into the besieged Djibouti and Bosaso and drive Monfraib and his rebels from these cities.

Yet I cannot in good faith ask Al Rabin to move forward with this plan - the last thing we want is to be seen in the eyes of the world as imperialistic invaders. Should I receive, in writing, confirmation that Walgreens and VEDRUPOL members will not take hostile action against Kohlneasian forces and will grant us access to move and operate in the Sultanate as needed, I will order Al Rabin's force to move in and eliminate Monfraib and his rebels posthaste.

If this is not received, Kohlneas will be forced into a defensive posture and prepare for general warfare, thus leaving Monfraib to do with the Sultanate as he pleases. We would also call on any and all allies of Kohlneas to assist in the defense of our homeland.

I think we all want the same thing: peace. Let us take responsibility for this mess and deliver this peace to you and the Ajuran Sultanate. With any luck, we will have the ruling family restored to complete power by week's end.

Our troops in Penang received a nasty surprise last week after an organized and superbly equipped group of Konigspartei infantry divisions began a counter offensive. With some militia support, the troops pushed past established SPG kill zones and overwhelmed the unprepared and underequipped local defenders. An unorthodox strategy, but nevertheless an effective one. Of the 44,000 contractors in the major urban area, only about 32,000 managed to escape the slaughter by pushing north and south into lightly defend areas. The Konigspartei troops now find themselves in an interesting position. Our frigates are well within range to bombard them into submission, something that local command has abused to great effect. Additionally all air-based reinforcements and supply drops have been effectively cut off by the close proximity of our airbases in Sumatra and the absurd amount of AAA fielded by our fleets.

To make matters worse for the Konigspartei troops, the UTC had begun its first deployment of its elite infantry about half and hour into their siege in Penang. UTC landing craft bombarded the weakly defended coast just south of Kedah and began an aggressive mechanized push into the mainland while UPO contractors swept up any remnants they left in their track. The modern armor and advanced jungle warfare tactics of the UTC quickly steamrolled militia and Konigspartei resistance alike while the brunt of their forces were preoccupied with securing Penang and routing UPO contractors. Eventually the UTC met its match in Lenggong where a fresh Konigspartei armored brigade was waiting for them. After some initial probing, UTC troops refused to push forward until CAS could be guaranteed. I've received the go ahead from [REDACTED] to send our limited Dassault Mirage squadrons to assist. AAA shouldn't be an issue after our SEAD craft do their initial runs. 100,000 contractors from the Sulawesi Independence Army and 辽宁雇佣兵, LLC are en-route from Sumatra and should arrive within 1-2 weeks in Kedah. The Northern peninsula will be ours in due time.

On the Southern front, an equally unorthodox offensive occurred. Several Konigspartei infantry divisions and militia brigades pushed into our coastal FOB's in an attempt to retake control of the western and eastern coastline. It's unclear to us why they'd give such a suicidal order to their troops, but local command certainly appreciates it. Our coastal craft, corvettes, and frigates spent the better part of two days going around to coastline and the Johor strait plinking away at Konigspartei infantry attempting to get within 20km of our FOB's. God knows how many troops our navy evaporated with their autocannons, but it was enough to give our marines an opening to push into the island of Singapore and establish a new FOB. Konigspartei air assets attempted to make a dent in our fleet but only managed to sink two flower-class corvettes and a albatross patrol craft. Perfectly acceptable losses for such a beneficial defense on our part. 辽宁雇佣兵 contractors even took advantage of the massacre and deployed an airborne brigade deep into the rural mainland with hopes of linking up with their marine forces up north. It'll take a while to pacify the island, but after shooting themselves in the foot this badly we don't see a way for local Konigspartei command to recover anytime soon.

As an interesting side note, several small to medium cargo ships attempted to sneak past our fleets to supply the Konigspartei controlled zones these past couple of weeks. Someone really ought to tell them that responding to us in English or German is gonna get them boarded. Can't feel too sorry for them. It's their death wish if they want to sneak past our massive albeit outdated navy.

Responding to a request from our SCO ally McFreedomstan, I am sending Admiral Ambar Kush's 1st Fleet, and the 5th Mechanized under General Dhabi to assist in the conflict in Singapore.

Kush and Dhabi will be put under UTC command and will adhere to any lawful and ethical orders given out by UTC's military elite. As part of the 5th Mechanized and 1st Fleet, the following personnel and materiel are being attributed to this operation:

From the 5th Mechanized, we are sending 50,000 infantry, 300 PMV/ATV/BMP's, 20 attack helicopters
From the 1st fleet, we are sending the Lutjen-class Bakir, Hesse Mot, Abu Karesh; the Kid-class Al Rabin; and our new Klb 'asud Corvettes Eilat, Lahav, Das, Makasib, Al Murjan, Al Ahab, Qatar, Dhabi

The forces remaining from the 1st fleet (the Nineva, Danobar, Shelh XI-XVII) will be transferred to Admiral Joya Novrakech's 6th Fleet for the remainder of the operation. The forces remaining from the 5th Mechanized (75,000 infantry, 330 PMV/ATV/BMP's and Reaper UAV's) will be transferred to the ad-Dahna reserve group.

I am also calling up Kohlneas' reserve forces to active duty. Should we find ourselves the regrettable recipient of a war declaration from Walgreens, I want these troops to be ready to defend every inch of our homeland.

Two months of literal hell on earth later we finally have the Board's trademark slapped on Seoul. I lost track of what our casualty count was, maybe 11,000 cumulative losses? What I do know is that the Koreans ain't feeling too good right now. They're getting sloppy. Can't blame them, their goddamn empire left them here to rot. Not one ship has even made the effort to drop off supplies or reinforcements. No counter attack from their main fleets in Latin America. Absolutely nothing. Even the civilians are giving up. My Korean ain't so good but you can hear the popular opinion shifting. "They fucking abandoned us", they say while looking at their war torn city. I've met happier folk in the slums of Borneo. The jewel of Asia just got sacked by the Chinese for the second time in 2,000 years and not even a word of sympathy by the great Milton Garay? Disgusting. We might have our flaws at the Board, but we take care of our own.

Command says we have a clear shot to Pyongyang once we clear out the leftovers that fled Seoul. I don't think we're gonna do much fighting with them though. Their morale is seriously low. Hell, command might just offer to buy their peace at this point. Don't think they'll turn it down either.

While the imperialist forces of McFreedomstan continue to push into our free republic, our army has done all it is capable of in retracting them. Militias located in villages around the besieged city of Pinang have currently declared a guerrilla war on the UPO, attacking and burning military outposts and committing hit-and-runs on transports along highways. In addition, in the northeast, soldiers of the 213rd Engineer Company of the 56th Infantry Division have laid hundreds upon hundreds of land mines along highways, in the forests and jungles, and in city blocks. Civilians have been warned already. Additionally, McFreedomstani reports have claimed that our men are dropping like flies, but this is an exaggeration. While we are facing heavy casualties, it isn't coming without a loss to the McFreedomstanis. Hundreds of their men have been attacked and presumably killed in surprise attacks in the jungles, as well as lots of their equipment being damaged or destroyed in explosive attacks along roads.

In the south, elements of the 57th Infantry Division were given the task of killing out a small circle of paratroopers near Kluang. As the UPO transport aircraft flew over Kluang, anti-aircraft emplacements managed to fire at the planes and have reportedly done significant damage, perhaps knocking one out of the sky. Crews have been dispatched to find any wreckage. The paratroopers are not expected to survive. In Singapore, the situation looks gloomy. Our resupply ships have been attacked, with the reasoning being that the crews aboard only speak German or English. This is obviously a farce. Our naval captains are trained in speaking (in addition to English) Malay and Chinese and most ships have access to translators either on board or via radio. To help reinforce these convoys, a small fleet of Sudafrikaner destroyers and submarines as well as a few mainland NGU missile cruisers are en route from the west and have been ordered to not hunt down McFreedomstani ships, only to escort convoys. To retake parts of Singapore City, we have begun a series of precise airstrikes to destroy certain UPO formations. These airstrikes are aided by recon planes which are being flown out of an undisclosed location north of Singapore City. A strategy is still being developed to counter the overwhelming naval presence is still in development, but it will be devised shortly nonetheless.

Field Testing of Szczytian 67-TP "Jaryło" Complete

The 67-TP "Jaryło" Fourth Generation Main Battle Tank has successfully completed its planned field testing in Suez. The vehicle was designed as a direct counterpart to the M1 Abrams, which has seen use by several Western nations. It was designed by Szczytian defense contractor, Konsorcjum Techniczne, and is currently under production. The current unit cost for the tank (complete with armaments) is $4,500,000, but is currently only available to VEDRUPOL member states. There is no word on whether this condition will change, and specifications have not yet been released to the public.
