The Occupation of Arván (OOC | TWI ONLY)

Early History
In 1823, Overlady Mary Tywan sent troops and diplomats to Akan. This was after the failure of the Akan government who could not keep the nation stable. Troops occupied the land while diplomats secured a treaty with the failing government. Akan was running dry of resources and they needed someone to step in. Noronica declared Akan a Crown Dependancy which allowed the nation to be ruled by a Noronnican-approved Governor. The nation was renamed to 'Arván'.
1960's-1970's Noronica
Hiding under the pretence of the increasing fear of communist states, the Noronnican Government increased spending on the military budget. This allowed for the Government to begin asserting its dominance. In 1970, Noronica's government formed into a One-Party state, forcing the current Overlady, Victoria, to abdicate the position of Overlord. The Government became violent in its race to authority. The police became a pseudo-army as it was used to beat the population with propaganda and authority. Noronica was now under the rule of an oppressive government. The leader of this government was called Florence Tyme, she named herself the 'President of Noronica'. She was from the city of Greyham and witnessed some of the Communist rallies. It was from there that she began to foster feelings of hate towards the system who were seemingly unable to deal with the Communist threat. She joined the Noronica Nationalist Party in 1967 and began preaching her ideas of Nationalism and kicking 'unpatriotic dogs' out of her country. She attempted an assault on the Overlord Palace but ultimately failed due to her small numbers and her expectance of the people to rise with her. She was locked away, but soon the publicity of her arrest reached the ears of the people and soon she was out on bail from an influential supporter in the Nationalist Party. After gaining numbers, she managed to reach the highest position of the party and began holding political rallies. Her party was voted in on 1969.
This led to the annulment of the unification of both Noronica and Arván. In 1973, Arván legally became independent. The government formed a Republic and Arván became a Presidential nation. This system worked for a while, but soon the Presidents became more corrupt with a terrible political system. The President Raoul Sartin made himself the President for life and kept Arván under his rule. The government was allowed to rot from within allowing crime and corruption to run rampant around the peninsula.
Now
The peninsula is now a playground for the rich and gangs. Cartels have been set up and many terrorist cells congregate there. A human trafficking market has been set up there and is one of the biggest features of Arván. The cartels are well-funded by the rich, and there is a faction called the 'Noronica Nationalist Party' who support the Old Noronnican Republic. They seek to take control of Arván and then turn their sights on Noronica.
International crime circles are known to congregate to Arván, especially for the human trafficking. A small black market has been set up to equip those in the peninsula.
The government has little to no control over the nation anymore, only able to control a few towns around St. Recont. They control the largest military force, but they are not well-trained or equipped other than the occasional fighter jet bought illegally.
Noronnican Involvement
The Noronnican Military Intelligence Agency has been operating on the island since 2002. Operatives have been gathering intelligence about the various factions and their activities. Many top officials have agreed that it would be best to annexe the island, while others are cautious about this approach for fear of international backlash.
Operatives in the country have been bribing the officials and getting support from the population to be pro-Noronnican. The ongoing activities in Arván have been called "Operation French Isle".
The government in Noronica has been increasingly worried about international support of the cartels and terrorists in Arván, and the sophistication of the groups. This has caused a majority supporting the annexation of Arván. Many top military officials hold these same views. Others that have darker aspirations want the occupation of the peninsula to kick-start Noronica's Expansionism.
Goals
THE MAJOR GOAL OF THIS IS THAT NORONICA ENDS UP ANNEXING ARVÁN INTO HER TERRITORIES
That is really the only very important goal in this RP. The whole reason for it is for Noronica to regain its old "Crown" Dependency, but I want there to be more to the story than 'big Noronica sends army'.
Other than that, goals do not have to be set in stone. I would like you to know mostly what you aim to do, and I would like you to know what your involvement will mean throughout and after the RP. As long as we can all agree on the major endgame above, you can be free on your involvement - just make sure to tell me what you're going to do.

Please post on here before posting on the IC thread. This is just to make sure everyone knows about everyone. Please also feel free to ask about Arván if you have any further questions. Also, make sure to remember the plan. I need to know at least some idea of what you plan to do as the story does have an endgame.

Noronica's goal is to usurp control of Arván and make it a fully fledged Noronnican territory. It wants to exert its influence over the peninsula and pursue interests in Gael. This is the very basic plan, I want a bigger story and I want more interesting plots. I also want to show a bit of Noronica's 'dark side' when it comes to controlling the peninsula and the operative's work.
Publicly, Noronica will say that intervention is needed as the government is rotting and indisciplined. It will also talk about the human rights issues and the terrible occurrences in the peninsula. I will include this in a news post once the IC thread has been set up and Arván is on the map.
