It has been five years since the Worker's Party of Callistos broke the corporate hold over the Hyperion System, creating an independent communist state in the wake of a fast paced and bloody conflict. Some 1 trillion Callistians now live "freely" on several moon settlements orbiting the Gas Giant known as Callisto. However, they are not the only nation in the system. After the the Nanotrasen Corporation lost it's control over the Hyperion system, several smaller states sprung up. Some where Leftist Regimes, puppet states and banana republics controlled by Callistos, but one stood out as unique. One earth like planet, Hyperion-III, or New Carthage as it is called by locals is under the rule of the Republic of Free Hyperion, a capitalist paradise in a sea of communist governments. Naturally, New Carthage is seen as a threat to the Callistian Worker's Party, and as such action had to be taken.
The decision was made by the Callistian Leader, El Generalissimus Antonius Del Lobo, to launch Operation Brimstone, a full scale invasion of New Carthage. With the defeat of the New Carthage Defense Force, and the eradication of Free Hyperion, the system will fall entirely under Callistian Communist control.
