What happens in this RP is a proxy war with great cold-war alignments in the background. Diplomatic subterfuge and wheeling and dealing, pitched battles (Xiangshu is currently preparing a post preparing for sieges), this is really just an arena for a bit of fun. (I say 'just', although I think "an arena for a bit of fun" is pretty much exactly what every RP should be).

Because I'm trying not to be a snob, all that I'll need to know before giving you permission to join us is: Can you please tell me what you want to get out of this RP?

Islamic activists on the one hand, communist activities on another, and the Mideans on another; so far only the last group has been "activated" by Aestoria.

Apologies, Sonshu, for not getting this out earlier - I'm currently on holiday and seem to have left another third of my post (the battle of Salem) on my home pc, and I still haven't had time to write the third setting up the next bit (the battle of the Sanidas Gulf and the siege of Sanidas). But I thought I ought to get down this part (Senate response).

Mizrad, Arkadonisia, if either of you want to start a Senate investigation, you now have the perfect excuse.

As a matter of form, I'm currently estimating that the order of events is:

Day 1 - morning - Mideane revolution, Ausitorian air evacuation.
afternoon - Battle of Salem, Sonshu fortifying Sanidas.
Day 2 - morning - Rhinocera's invasion, Senate meets.

Of course it's late morning in Panessos City because they're a few hours ahead in timezones.

Xiangshu, is the senate you referenced the Xiangese senate or something else entirely?

It's the Panessos Senate - see http://iiwiki.com/wiki/Panessos_Community - an organization you are entitled to membership in. It's currently controlled by a Capitalist Association/Democratic Union coalition led by Ausitoria and opposed by the Socialist coalition under Xiangshu.

Well, Rhinocera (like all nations within Panessos) is considered, prima facea, a member of the community - unless you opted out/resigned.

But there's nothing negative about membership, and if the Senate ever decides something (which is fairly unlikely) which your nation doesn't like (which is more unlikely) you can instantly resign. If you like you can pay a subscription fee (a tiny percentage of GDP - 0.01% - quarterly - plus $1 billion), and if the government is doing anything you don't like (the budget is divided between seeding research, maintaining international search, rescue, and travel, and easing the spread of diplomats, information, and ideas between countries), you can currently just opt out, and I certainly have no intention of changing that policy.

And the Senate hasn't met for about two years so you can see just how unobtrusive it is. Personally I think it's pretty much perfect...

That's quite reasonable. I'll more than likely join the senate. On another note, when do you think you'll be able to get your post up Aus?

Soon - I've managed to edit in the Battle of Salem and the opening of the Sonxu-Mideane air battle in the gulf, now I'll be able to focus on catching up with Ausitoria and Jadbiya. Do bear in mind 'though that I'm having to give the illusion of RPing multiple parties!

Well, I've added some more Senate shenanigans. I'm now trying to work out the most effective way of RPing the general Jabdiyan viewpoint - I think some newspaper articles might be in order...

I get the feeling that you and Sonxu are both waiting for each other. Perhaps you could decide whether you're going to RP a limited war within Jabdiya? Of course I should point out Ausitoria wants this conflict wound down fast, as they're worried about some imaginary SACTO involvement...
