Khakodari Revolution [Late Cold War/IC/OPEN]

Postby Khakodar » Fri Oct 28, 2016 1:46 pm

January 18th, 1983, the Department of Defense, Ashour, the Islamic Republic of Khakodar

You would expect a country called the "Islamic Republic" to be a nation whose population is majority Islamic and follows Islamic laws, but that's quite the opposite. Khakodar is divided into three island chains, two are majority Muslim, and one is majority Christian, meaning that laws aren't overly Islamic, and the government would be quite secular if they didn't profess everything in the name of Allah. Today, was meant to be just another day for politics in Khakodar, but something that very few people saw coming happened. The rising popularity of the secular political movement, Hizb al Ummat Walhurria, or the HUH. Hizb al Ummat Walhurria roughly translated to "Party of the Nation and Freedom", and proclaimed itself the one true "Khakodari Republican" movement of Khakodar. In the Khakodari Parliament, it held a meager 56 out of 620 seats, less than 10%, but the Commander of the Army, Karem ul-Sadih had announced his support of HUH, which was a problem for the ruling Hizb Alshshaeb, who previously had the support of the military.

ul-Sadih and eighteen soldiers walked down the halls of the Qassam Alddifae (Department of Defense), brandishing Kalashnikovs as they approached the Defense Assembly, the legislature of the QaD. ul-Sadih nodded, and the guards opened the doors and pointed rifles at the Difae AaJ (Members of the Assembly), and ul-Sadih pointed a handgun at President Hamid Sajjad ol-Fikar.

"Mr. ul-Sadih... what in Allah's name are you doing?" ol-Fikar asked with his hands above his head
"From now on, that will be President ul-Sadih, khayin." ul-Sadih responded blankly
"No! This is treason. ARREST HIM!" ol-Fikar went to shout, but ul-Sadih cut him off, firing a single round into his chest
"AaJ of the following parties, step forward. Hizb Alshshaeb... Hizb Aleummal... olHizb al'Islami... and olHizb olKkhūrakoda..." ul-Sadih ordered, 43 of the AaJ stepping forward "Excellent. Comrades, take them out. Glory to Khakodar." he finished, walking out to the sound of silenced gunfire.

Karem ul-Sadih was now two steps away from becoming the President. He got in his car with his soldiers and they drove for three minutes to a small street in Ashour, where he asked to meet the vice president, Ismat ol-Mahket. They pulled up to a cafe in a thin street, where they spotted Ismat, and with two of his soldiers Karem got out.

"Ismat, did you hear the news?" Karem asked him quietly
"No Karem, tell me what has happened?" Ismat responded, very curious
"President ol-Fikar is dead. He just collapsed in a meeting or something at the QaD. He wanted me to give you this..." Karem said, reaching into his pocket. He grabbed the same pistol he used to kill ol-Fikar and looked Ismat in the eye. "I am sorry Ismat." he said. He aimed the gun quickly Ismat and fired three shots into his chest. "May Allah forgive me... But the revolution has begun."

General Hassan Zaman Square, Ashour, Khakodar

"People... People of Khakodar. It is with a heavy heart, and great sadness, that I inform you of the assassinations of President ol-Fikar, and Vice-President Ismat ol-Makhet..." he began, faking the emotion in his voice. His was replied by to by large cries of mourning, though he caught several people in the audience staying silent and smirking. "There deaths signify an attack on our democracy, and attack that will not go without retaliation. An investigation at the scene has told us two things; The attackers, were Radical Islamists, and members of Hizb Alshshaeb... and as such by the constitution, this attack is counted under terrorism... and coupled with last weeks bomb attacks in the province of Saratihah, we must outlaw Hizb Alshshaeb, and it's affiliated parties. For us, to proclaim victory, against terrorism, I declare myself provisional president, of a new Khakodar... the Khakodari Arab Republic, and I declare myself her protector, and Commander of the Khakodari Arab Army... Hail Victory, Hail Khakodar!" Karem ended his speech, and he was responded to be a large crowd cheering and chanting "Hail Victory, Hail Khakodar!".

But not everybody was happy. Within three days, news spread to the island chain of Aljuzurdahab, the most conservative and Islamist of the island chains. The Aljuzurdahab branch of Hizb Alshshaeb, Hizb alMuhafizin, founded the People's Army of Islam, or Jaysh Alshshaeb min al'Islam (Jamai). Jamai began recruiting soldiers and began attacks on and the seizing of military outposts in Aljuzurdahab, beginning the Khakodari Revolution.
Khakodari Republican (Secular Authoritarian Corporatism) and Commander of the Army, Karem ul-Sadih massacres the Department of Defence's legislature, and kills the President and Vice-President, assuming power through the constitution. He declares a Khakodari Republican state, the Khakodari Arab Republic, and bans Hizb Alshshaeb, the previous ruling party. The people of islands of Aljuzurdahab do not take kindly to this, and found the Islamic Market Socialist paramilitary, Jamai and begin to fight the KAA, who themselves don't have full control over Khakodar yet.
