The Diplomats of the King, Messieurs John Candy and Joseph have arrived in Verranium to sign the treaty of association with the AC, and to begin negotiation of the joining of the AC.

"We have high hopes," Mr. Candy said, "We hope to ensure and strengthen our economic capabilities in the mouth of the Auroran sea, and strengthen tourism from Aurora. For now, that's all we're at liberty to say," he said to reporters this morning. The issues of the Celitannian military loom overhead the small island nation, of which Educandi has strong ties to. Only time will tell how negotiations shall go.

Phase Two of Joint Base Loong Hai Extension Plan Completed

The Department of Defense has announced the completion of Phase 2 of the extension plan regarding Joint Base Loong Hai (龍海) in western Penania. Phase Two of the construction, initiating in late 2011, included the extension of the base's Naval Air Station in terms of capacity, as well as the reorganization and expansion of the base's docks for the Navy. With expanded capacity, the base is expected to serve as a more effective base for the 17,000 Marines of the 3rd Marine Division, as well as 10,000+ personnel of the Greater Eastern Union Navy and Air Force.

Its history dating back to 1788 during the Federation of South Zhenia, Joint Base Loong Hai was originally named Singh Pura Bay upon its establishment as a naval port for the Federation. Situated in the Indian Ocean, it became an important naval base during the First and Second Republic, being at the eastern edge of the Indian Ocean Naval Chain plan proposed by the Greater Eastern Union Navy at the time. Although the base was severely destroyed in World War 2 as a result of Celitannian air raids, it was rebuilt during the Third Republic. It received its current name, 'Loong Hai', meaning 'Sea of the Dragon', in 1979, following the signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty between the Greater Eastern Union and Penania, which entailed the permanent establishment of Joint Base Loong Hai for Zhenian forces. Since 1979, numerous Zhenian forces, including the famed 3rd Marine Division, as well as the 34th Fighter Wing and the 11th Naval Patrol Wing, have been permanently stationed; since 1989, the base was designated as the new homeport of the Greater Eastern Union Navy's Third Fleet.

To this day, Joint Base Loong Hai remains the largest military base outside Zhenia, with the Triumvirate-owned Port Isaac in southern Celitannia and Camp Kublai Khan in Qdaiadin being close seconds. Being one of the two homeports of a Greater Eastern Union Navy Fleet to be located outside the nation, it has remained a symbol of the political ties Zhenia maintains with Penania to this day. Hinting towards this, the Department of Defense has proclaimed such expansion as "the extension of the alliance between Zhenia and Penania - a symbol of mutual defense and friendship".

Those were the words championed today by now-king Gustav Willmz Mansur, who, along with the Royal Guard, have launched a military coup in the nation's capital, Griotzege. The coup has toppled a 32 year period of direct democracy in Puldania, re-instituting the monarchy after almost a century of democratic rule. The coup was popular among nationalists, who rallied outside the royal palace to show support for King Gustav.

Gustav has pledged to uphold the rights of his citizens, and further Puldania on the world stage. Some however, have their doubts, as reports of the royal guard arresting and even executing pro-democratic individuals have come out of the capital, however these reports are not yet confirmed. Gustav's official coronation is set for tomorrow, with the Imam of Druckasniki attending to ordain the ceremony. News of the coup was met with outrage from Puldanian expatriates, despite this, some say they are not surprised.

In the past years, I think, the royal family had begun acting very... pre-eminent. I think something like this was bound to happen.

"And so the people have spoken." These were the words Alpada first spoke when he heard about the recent coup in Puldania. Supported largely by Puldanian Nationalists,
the coup reestablished monarchical rule over Puldania. It previously being a direct-democracy for 32 years. Alpada went further on to state,"Like the glorious revolution of Estradia's past, if a people are truly devoted to their country and their cause then their power cannot be squashed. This is what has occurred in Puldania, a people executing with ferocity their wishes for their country."

With King Gustav Willmz Mansur at the reigns, Alpada is hopeful that Puldania will start a new era of stronger will, stronger leadership, and a stronger people. "A wheel needs a strong center if it's to avoid falling apart." Alpada asserts. And a strong and benevolent leader, akin to Alpada himself, is a key piece to the effective wielding of the peoples' power and the control of a nation's destiny. Much like in Estradia, a strong leader and a stronger people removes all impossibilities. Alpada gives good wishes from himself and his country to the new leadership of Puldania, and he looks forward to cooperation in achieving their shared goals.
